However, the new shields are a huge improvement over the original Shields fitted to the Danube class
Current Variants
Ambulance : The standard Tarawa Class Runabout is able to be converted into an Ambulance suitable to carrying 36 stretcher cases as well as up to 12 seated casualties or medical personnel. This conversion takes approximately 45 minutes, and the stretchers are carried as standard equipment on all Tarawa Class Runabouts
Infiltrator : This version has had the Dorsal Weapons pod removed to mount ancillary equipment for a Cloaking device. This is fitted in the Mission Module of the Runabout, and takes approx. 72 hours to complete. The module will be available to marine units on an "as required" issue plan to Special Operation capable units, and only with explicit approval from the CO.
The Cloak battery stores enough power for a total of 8 hours, and can only be recharged at a Starbase or Starship.
