Reaction Assembly) with Dilithium crystal booster.
Impulse Drive Type : Standard Velocity : Mach 10 in atmosphere
Impulse: .25c Full Impulse speed. (.83c maximum
thrust) Standard Cruise Speed : Warp 3 (for 72 hours)
Maximum Cruise Speed : Warp 4 (for 36 hours)
Maximum Speed : Warp 4.8 (sustainable for 2
hours) Maximum Emergency (Boosted) Speed
: Warp 9.5
for 90 Seconds (see below). Shielding:
Type : The Trojan class has a version of the
Multi-phasic shielding fitted to the Mako class fighter,
providing excellent protection. However the shields
can drain power reserves quickly in a combat situation,
meaning that the shields can degrade very rapidly
under sustained fire. At high warp, power drain is such that shields must
be switched from multiphasic to standard.
Layout: Inline cockpit, Tactical behind Conn.
(Tactical or Weapons Systems Officer (WSO) normally
vacant) Short passage to troop compartment containing emergency
3 man transporter and small replicator. Troop compartment has 12 standing troop positions
(Like the tube trains in B5 or standing roller-coasters)
and a Lower Boarding Hatch (LBH). There is also a
wide ramp/door at the rear of the compartment for
conventional planetary exits.
Lower Boarding Hatch:
One of the Trojans most unique systems is its LBH.
Through it's Modular Universal Air Lock, the LBH is
adaptable enough connect to previously unknown styles
of docking rings. For forced boardings, the LBH has
high power plasma torches to breach an enemy hull,
force fields and sealant dispenser to create a stable
seal. This allows personnel to enter directly into
the enemy ship when transport is not an option. Rapid
Sealing Mechanisms are included to seal the breach,
as to prevent explosive decompression if the Trojan
has to make a quick withdrawal from the boarded craft.
The pilot can override these functions, but this is
thoroughly discouraged.
The LBH is capable of effecting 2-4 breaches, depending
on the targeted ships hull material
Specific Notes:
AI SYSTEMS: The Trojan is fitted with a sophisticated
AI similar to the model currently fitted to the Mako
fighters, which has allowed the standard crew to be
lowered to one pilot. The AI normally controls weapons
fire, but the Alpha is provided with a secondary tactical
position behind the Conn position, if the AI is not
functioning. The AI's is designed soley for operation of
the Trojan. DILITHUM CRYSTAL BOOSTER The Dilithium crystals can be boosted to produce huge
amounts of power, capable of twice raising the max
speed up to Warp 9.5 for up to 90 seconds. However
the Boost leaves the Dilithium crystals badly drained,
and after two 'hops' they must be replaced before
Warp speed is available again. The Trojan has been
designed to make this easy, and the crystals can be
replaced in field conditions. It takes a well trained
repair team approx. 30 minutes to replace the crystals.
The crystal booster reactant must also be replaced
at the same time, but this takes a mere 5 minutes.
After sustained use of the booster in testing, the
core has been known to destabilize in mere moments,
destroying the shuttle. To avoid this, the Core must
be reconditioned, this takes approx. 4 hours in a
SB environment, and up to 24 hours on ship. Its comparatively short endurance is not seen as a
handicap for its intended uses. The Trojan was made available fleetwide in late 2404,
early 2405.
