Romulan
|
The Romulans
are a secretive people who were originally part of the Vulcan
race. Unlike their Vulcan cousins, the Romulans remained a
passionate people with an absolute certainty of right and
wrong, who is a friend and who is an enemy.
Romulans are not as violent as many Federation enemies such
as the Jem'Hadar and frequently try to learn more about their
enemies before making the first move in a hostile situation.
The Romulans aren't as openly aggressive as the Klingons or
as passive as the Vulcans, instead attempting to keep themselves
and their technology hidden from their enemies.

Solaxin
|
The
Solaxis race evolved on a planet that had very intelligent
predators. Because of this, they are a very close people.
Through their history, crime is almost unheard of,
and civil war is unthinkable. Their minor telepathic powers
never faded.
400 earth years ago, the Borg destroyed the Solaxis homeworld.
Several Solaxis ships were able to flee.
Their society became nomadic, but they still longed
for a home. About a thirty years ago, they wondering brought them into
first contact with the Federation.
The Federation, seeing the plight of the Solaxis,
helped them find a planet to settle on.

Species 8472
|
Species 8472's
origins lie in 'fluidic space' - a higher dimension which
is apparently composed liquid rather than the empty space
of our own universe. 8472 are the only species in their dimension,
and had no conception of other lifeforms until the Borg invaded
their territory. Unfortunately - for the Borg - species 8472
have an incredibly efficient immune system; any form of biological
or technological intrusion into their tissue is instantly
rejected and destroyed. This renders them immune to Borg nanoprobes,
and hence incapable of assimilation. In addition, their dense
structure is highly resistant to many forms of energy such
as transporters and weapons.
Physically, species 8472 has a roughly humanoid head and torso
on a tripedal base. There is a mouth but they do not communicate
by speech, instead relying on telepathy. The extent of their
telepathic abilities are unknown, but are thought to be very
long ranged, perhaps even trans-dimensional. Beyond this little
is known about this enigmatic species - few have survived
a close encounter long enough to gather comprehensive data!
Even less is known about the culture and philosophy of species
8472. In the one known telepathic contact with them the message
'the weak shall perish' was transmitted; although worrying
given their numbers and level of technology, the outlook of
a whole species can hardly be judged from one contact with
one individual. For the moment contact with 8472 has been
broken off after their retreat back into their own space at
the end of the war with the Borg.

species distinguished by a porcine-like snout, stout build,
deep set eyes and a characteristically irascible disposition.
One of the Founding worlds of the Federation, they are major
contributors in the fields of metallurgy and structural engineering.
Tellarites are known for being among the best architects and
starship wrights in the Federation. Tellarites have a natural
predisposition for belligerency and have raised debate and
oration to a new level or art. Tellarites are around 1.5 meters
tall with a snout, deep-set eyes, and thick fur.

Trill
|
The Trill are
a unique joined species from the Alpha Quadrant composing
of a vermiform symbiont and a humanoid host. The symbiont
lives many lifetimes with the benefit of remembrance, knowing
that in all likelihood they will survive beyond the lifetime
of any individual host.
The relationship between the Trill symbiont and its humanoid
host is complex. A joined Trill integrates the personalities
of the host and the symbiont, while retaining memories and
personalities of all the other hosts with whom the symbiont
joined with previously.

Tholian
|
Crystalline
race renowned for it's punctuality and highly territorial
nature. They come from a world somewhere near the Federation/Klingon
border. The Federation has had a longstanding conflict with
the Tholians over several dozen star systems near the Klingon
border. As of 2357 a cease-fire has taken effect and normal
diplomatic relations have been established.
The Tholians normally live in a hot
Class C world and ships but can live for days or weeks without
discomfort in a Class M environment. The Tholians have advanced
gravitational technology and their primary space going weapon
is the Tholian Web, a tractor beam web that can crush any
ship caught in it's path.

Vulcan
|
The Vulcans
live a peaceful and logical existence and have been at the
forefront of many peace negotiations with races throughout
the galaxy. Vulcans are a leading member, along with Earth,
in the United Federation of Planets.
They can sense powerful thoughts,
protect suggestions and even share their minds. The Vulcans
have a number of limited telepathic abilities most of which
require Physical contact with the subject. The most famous
of these is undoubtedly the mind-meld, which joins the thoughts
of two individuals, removing the mental barriers of the
participants so that each can experience the other's thoughts.
It is a common misconception that the Vulcans
have no emotions. In fact, just the opposite is true; Vulcans
not only possess feelings, they have some of the strongest
emotions encountered. What keeps these emotions in check
is the extraordinary level of mental discipline that rules
their everyday lives.
