Family and Background :

Mother and Father both died on an away mission when she was four. Was looked after by her aunt until her aunt died when Taya was 15 then has always provided for herself.

Starfleet Academy before academy took private lessons in science fields and the command fields

Her and her roomate Nicola Dwelly did science experiments and Taya earned the Janeway science award at 11 years old - the youngest to do so.
