When the hall returned to quiet she looked over at Alexis with a hopeful smile. Then she turned back to the to look back at the gathering. “Thank you all,” she said. “I think we need to continue to be on alert. I agree with Gun,, we need to increase our security patrols. Sound the clock. Gun, take care of that.” (reply Gun) “As for the rest of you, just maintain your awareness,” Casem continued. “Until we know what is making us… uneasy, the best thing to do is go on with business as usual. If anyone notices anything out of the ordinary, no matter how small, let me know immediately.” She tried to maintain an air of authority and confidence that she did not really feel at this moment. This had always been Alexis’ forte. She could see how years of this pressure could do the damage it did to her. “If there’s nothing else, you are all dismissed,” Casem said. As the crowd dispersed Mike Solice stepped up to Casem. “Maybe doing medical checks on those who are feeling this sensation might, at least, keep people occupied.” “Casem nodded, “I agree. Why don’t you start with young Mr. Marshall and Gunthie.” “I’m on it,” Mike said and ran to catch up with Nathan. Casem turned and stepped towards Alexis. She stepped forward to give her a hug and then paused. “Thank you Alexis. I appreciate you being here more than you can know. Well.. maybe you know.” She smiled at the Betazoid. “Still, thank you.” ~I love you.~ She couldn’t say it out loud. “Maybe Mike should check you out too?” (reply Alexis) Once Alexis left Casem looked around the empty meeting hall. She sighed, wishing she knew what that sensation was. It was as though something was coming. Something… familiar. Maybe she should get checked out by Mike as well. One group continued to wallow in the mystery ahead. The other group, which included Nathan Marshall, embraced the uncertainty of the future and maintained a vigilance without losing their minds. Nathan had spent the morning check g the perimeter shielding, making sure that there were no gaps. The last thing they needed was an attack from a horror that they already knew about. When he completed his rounds he decided to head to town and check in with the Commander. Suddenly a voice cried out. “A ship!” Then Bill Gunther appeared, saw Nathan and ran towards him. “There’s a ship in orbit, Nathan. There’s a ship!” Nathan stared at Gun as if he’d lost his mind. Then he added, “I confirmed. No malfunction.” The older man put his hands on his knees and breathed hard. Mike Solice had heard the commotion and stepped out of the med center. “A ship?” he asked. “Are you sure?” Nathan’s mind reeled. It was absolutely the last thing he imagined would be the unknown event. His thoughts raced. Since the day he was born there were those who had held on to the hope that someone would come through the wormhole and find them. But that had never happened. All the equipment that had been left for them to survive had been put to use or cannibalized for other purposes. Before he was born very little of the subspace communication systems had been left. However, one of his first projects he began, at age fourteen, had been to create a small subspace beacon. He wasn’t sure that it worked, but he continued to play with it every few days. He was pretty sure that it could send a small, but concentrated, stream to communicate with a ship in orbit. He looked at Gun with a serious glare, “Go get the commander and bring her to the tower behind my house. I’m going to see if my comm system works.” (reply Gunther) He looked at the growing crowd, shrugged and ran to his home. The standard home he lived in with his parents had an item that stood out. There was a twelve foot wooden tower built behind it. He built it with his father. What was in the hut at the top, however, he built himself. Nathan scrambled up the ladder with a well practiced motion. He’d often been likened to a squirrel climbing up it. He pushed open the trap door and climbed inside the hit. It had been decorated with material and half finished projects. But in one corner was a project that had clearly been finished, a communication transmitter. He threw the power switch and waiting impatiently for the ready light to glow a solid green light. Once it was fully powered he made some adjustments to the controls. An antenna extended from the roof and a small satellite style transmitting dish extended out. Nathan stepped back and took a deep breath. Then he stepped up to the console hit the send key. “Attention orbiting vessel, can you hear me,” he said, working at holding on his excitement. Then he stepped back and waited for a reply. The helm asks for command code. Quinna thought for a moment and inputted MuRa2411. “Command code accepted.” The computer said. Engine and warpcore come online and the ship starts to move and one other thing happens, Quinna is beamed off the bridge and re-emerges in sickbay, CMO office. There on the desk is a hand written note. Michael was beamed to the Solice Family Quarters. Lt. Green was beamed to the Officer Mess. Ensign Adams was beamed to the Gym, and Toks was beamed to the Captain’s Quarters. None of the locations allowed for people to override the ship, and it jetted off to the wormhole at warp 8. They were all locked down separately from each other. (USS Auberjonois - Sickbay - Commander Quinna Solice - 14:00) Quinna tried to use override but nothing worked. She sat on her father’s chair. It still smelt like him. Fresh smell on a 25 year old smell. Everything about this seemed . she hit her comm badge, “Solice to Weston.” Nothing, “Solice to Green” Nothing. “Solice to Adams” Nothing, Solice to Toks” and again nothing. The doors to sickbay from the office would not open. The door to the corridor would not open but the small closet would. It was set with a pillow and blanket. Her ‘Fort’. “Daddy, what have you done?” NPRG: Now you are all captured in a separate part of the ship. Sealed in your locations. Those wormhole aliens are not playing too nice. At first he considered heading to the main computer to make sure they had control, but he knew this had to play out and he wasn’t going to override Quinna Solice’s decisions, even if her personal life was touching on them. He decided to head to the bridge and let them establish plans organically. With that he took maybe seven steps before the transporter beam took him. “Well shiiiiii….” He lamented as he dematerialized. The increased thrumming through the deck was somehow comforting. “Are we on the way to the wormhole?” He asked looking upward for no reason in particular. Nothing answer. Is the ship like being in a place stuck in time? I’ve gotten interesting readings over here.=^= “That’s a great question, “ Weston replied. “We’re getting similar odd readings over here. I think we can use your expertise once you get docked.” There was a few minutes of silence as Weston watched as the Cheron released from the hull of the Auberjenois, and positioned itself in front of the landing bay. =^=Cheron to Auberjenois, requesting permission to land in hangar bay.=^= Michael chuckled at the formality of the request. But he supposed that the training of the later centuries might be highly ingrained in the Chimeric’s mind. He did not have such an affliction, however he thought it best to respond in kind right now. “Cheron, this is the Aubererjenois, permission granted.” He couldn’t help but add, “T’xen Toks, come on down. It’s time to play This Mystery is all Wrong. Engaging tractors.” There was a slight confused pause before Toks replied, =^=On the way.=^= “Sit back and relax,” Michael said, humor in his voice, “I’ve got you… I think.” Toks didn’t bother to respond. He watched as the autolanding tractors placed the Cheron gently on the deck plating of the shuttlebay. Michael kept one eye on the Ops console and the other on Quinna as she sat at the helm. He watched as she suddenly leaned forward and tapped in something into the console. [Command code accepted,] the computer stated The power transfer to the warp core suddenly appeared on his display, and there was a small lurch until the inertial dampeners engaged. At the same time he could feel the sensation on the transporter affect tingle across his body. He turned to look at the helm and started to say, “Quin…. ,” but he was already gone. (USS Auberjonois - Deck 2- Solice Family Quarters – SFI DD - Michael Weston - 1403) “...na, what’s..” He realized finishing the question was pointless. He was alone in… was, clearly, somebody's personal quarters. As he looked around it didn’t take long for him to figure out whose quarters they were. His first move was to tap his comm badge, hoping they were all still connected through the Cheron,. “Weston to Solice.” He continued to root through the quarters as no reply came. “Figured,” he said to himself. Then he found a wall panel and tapped it, “Weston to anyone.” Nothing. “Par for the course. Well Mr. Weston, this is another fine mess you’ve gotten yourself into.” He picked up a holo-image of a family. The parents looked familiar. His study of the Auberjenoir from his early days in SFI helped him recognize Michael and Rachel Solice, Quinna’s parents. The pair of cute halflings they held was clearly young Quinna and Preston Solice. There were other, hard copy images of the children spread throughout the room. He couldn’t help but smile at a picture of Quinna as a girl with this wild and wicked look in her eyes. What a hellion she must have been. Then he picked up a piece of paper. It was clearly the art work of a child, he assumed Preston, a family portrait. The people were stick figures, with long stick fingers and spikey hair. Each person was labeled and wearing specific clothing. Daddy was wearing a white doctor’s coat; Mommy was wearing a blue coat; Preston was the only one wearing pants, but they were shorts and an orange shirt; Sissy was wearing a red skirt but no top. “I recognize that outfit,” he said to himself. Enough of this, it was time to get out of there. He moved over to the door, which didn’t open, of course, then found the panel beside it. With a blow he dislodged the panel to display the internal controls of the door. Unzipping one of the hidden pockets of his outfit he pulled out a pair of alligator clips. He attached them to the power relay and the control interface, in an attempt to force the door open on its own accord. There was a click, a hiss and a thunk, as the door’s locking mechanism disconnected, and the door seal disengaged, then the door stopped. Something prevented the full operation of the door from completing. He removed the clips and put them away, Then he reached into the open panel and disengaged the power circuits. Since the seals were already disengaged all he had to do was force the door open. He found something to wedge into the door jam and force the door to open enough for him to fit his hands in. Then, bracing his foot on the opposite side he pulled and with a groan the door opened enough for him to slip out. Oddly, there had been no alarm for the breach of the door seals. Now he had to find the others., but this was a big ship for four people. (reply none) (posted by Al Muir) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... There’s been no degradation in antimatter, no sign, at all, that this ship had aged at all in the past twenty-five years. She sat back in the chair and looked at the data flow with curiosity. Suddenly there was a beep on the power relays as systems came online. Before she could track the source she could feel the transporter effect take hold of her. As she disappeared all she could say was, “Goddess.” (USS Auberjonois - Gymnasium - Engineering Officer - Ensign Wednesday Adams - 1405) As she materialized, still being in a seated position, Wednesday plopped to the deck floor on her bottom. “Ow,” she cried. Then she tapped her comm badge. “Adams to Commander Solice. Admas to Lt. Green. Adams to anyone.” There were no replies and a panic took hold of her. Where was she? Where was everyone else? Finally she took a deep breath and centered herself. Her heart rate settled and she started to look around her. Whoever moved her had sent her to the gym. The gym? What, was that some kind of a joke. Wednesday had not been known to spend a lot of time at the gym. She was young and athletic, with a background in gymnastics and fencing, of all things. That did not require a great deal of time with the muscleheads at the gym. Typically they spent time trying to impress her or offer her assistance she didn’t need. However, being in an empty gym she couldn’t help but pick up a small weight and give it a couple of curls. She giggled at how silly she felt then got to work at the problem at hand. She moved to the door and stopped short when it did not happen. It was not really a surprise. That would have been too easy. She wasn’t getting out of there any time soon. She thought about trying to force the door open, but that required a strength she did not possess. She giggled again. At least she was in the right place. Eventually she could probably work her way up to it. No, she needed to figure out a way to contact the others, so she made her way to the comm unit. Taking out a set of tools from her pocket she managed to open the panel. After about ten minutes she was able to channel the power to it. Once she had the power it quickly became apparent that the problem was not the power source. Something was blocking the subspace signals that in ship communications typically used. This was going to require some thought, and some history. She was going to have to bypass the subspace emitter circuits with a radio frequency oscillator and an antenna. As she looked around the room, it was fortunate that the equipment in the gym provided her the materials that she needed. The only other commodity that she required was time, and apparently she had that in abundance. It took nearly an hour, but finally she found all of the components she needed and had built the transmitter that would access the ships comm systems. Hopefully it would cast a signal that would transmit ship wide. With the flick of a switch the transmitter came to life. Wednesday stood up and gave a little prayer to Goddess and pressed the comm button. “This is Ensign Wednesday Adams, can anyone hear this? Please respond if you can hear me. I’m in the gym. Anyone.” (reply anyone) (posted by Al Muir) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... "Glad to see you Michael.  I was sent to the officers mess for some reason.  There are no clues in there to report beside everything is like 25 years ago.  We need to find Quinna.  How do you suggest we do that?" There was no sign of any of the others. He thought to head up to the bridge and try using the ship's internal sensors to locate them. A few minutes later he came up the doorway to the turbolift. As he stepped up to it there was a beep of computer recognition but the doors did not open. He tried again. Still nothing. Finally the computer’s voice rang out. [Turbolifts are not operational at this time.] That was odd as the turbolift brought them to the bridge originally. He hummed for a moment then started to head back down the corridor. Perhaps there were more clues to their circumstances in the Solice quarters. Michael stood outside the Solice family quarters but before he could reenter "Glad to see you Michael. I was sent to the officer's mess for some reason. There are no clues in there to report beside that everything is like 25 years ago. We need to find Quinna. How do you suggest we do that?" Michel looked at Raven as she stated the obvious. “We need to find everyone, Miss Green. But yes, I’d like to find Commander Solice as well.” He looked down the hallway one way, then the other way. He had been sent to a quarters, she had been sent to the mess hall on the same level. He had to wonder if Quinna and Toks were on this level as well. There had to be a reason they’d been sent to where they were. “I suggest we do a door to door recon,” he finally said. Quinna crawled into the small opening. It was the perfect size for a 7 year old, but for a 32 year old, it was a bit tight. When you pass the opening, it opens a bit more. There was a candy bowl. Her dad spoiled her, her blanket. And a note addressed to "Little Doctor” Quinna picked the paper up and smelled it. Her memory of her father filtered into her head. It was not common to have handwritten messages but this time he knew. She opened it. “Well, Well, looks like my little doctor is in the office today. I am so glad we made it back and you are back with me on duty. I missed you and am happy to have you kids home. Remember Daddy loves his little Doctor.” Quinna read the note. Her father planned for a successful mission. “What happened to you, Daddy?” Quinna said to the empty room. Quinna crawled out of the space. She headed to the door to sickbay and tried to open it again, and it still would not budge, not even after activating the manual override. It turned out to be the same for the door that lead to the corridor. She then heard it, a fuzzy message, “This is Ensign Wednesday Adams, can anyone hear this? Please respond if you can hear me. I’m in the gym. Anyone.” Quinna took a deep breath, “I am here Ensign. I am in the CMO office. Have you heard from anyone else?” (Reply Adams) “Can you move out of your location? Perhaps she’d had an opportunity to try the turbo lift before, but he didn’t know if there was another lift at the other side of the deck. “First of all, I’m not sure it’s a great idea that we separate. After all, we just found each other. Secondly, where would you go? We have no idea where the others are. You could spend hours, days, searching level by level, only to find out that we’re all still on this level. No, there may come a time when we will need to split up and you can try to get into the turbo lift shaft.” (reply Green) “Why don’t you check the rooms on that side of the corridor and I’ll check this side,” Michael indicated to the opposite wall of the Solice quarters. “Don’t wander to far ahead. If either of us get into trouble we can call out for help.” (reply Green) He looked back inside the Solice home, wondering why he’d been sent there. It couldn’t just have been random. And it couldn’t have been personal, as that preprogrammed transport was conceived decades ago, before he had any idea of who Quinna was. And why would they send the one person in their component that didn’t require food to mess hall? He moved away from the doorway. It was more important to find everyone first. He moved down the hallway, following Green. As he passed a door he would put his palm on the door chime then pound on the door. Then he waited for some kind of response. When there was none he moved on to the next door. Door by door they went. Suddenly there was a crackle over the ship's comm system, followed by the fuzzy sound of Wednesday Adams voice. =^=This is Ensign Wednesday Adams, can anyone hear this? Please respond if you can hear me. I’m in the gym. Most were redacted. It would take him time but this mission and their cargo was clearly not standard. There were coordinates. A definite location for the mission. The cargo was mentioned repeatedly. ~But what is the cargo?~ he questioned. “What part do you have to play?” He asked out loud. “The prophets have reasons for what they do.” He looked up in the air. “I’m not attempting to interfere just play it out as it should.” His voice was reverent. He’d encountered the prophets before and considered their non-linear processing. He took a last sip and returned the remnants of the meal back on the replicator for recycling and then pulled his small pen shaped device from his jacket and forward near the panel and tapped it. Several sounds later the panel popped out and swung forward. Then a few taps and the right placed the door slid open partially. Using his Takaran control over his cells, he flattened his body, and like an octopus, slid through the small opening. “Now, if I were a prophet. He followed his duty, in reporting a potential problem, hell even before the sensors picked it up. That was good. Offering a potential solution is better. Sean wasn't going to ruminate on it now. “Like I said, not my field, but before she drops us off, couldn’t the Hades swing about point six and drop a subspace charge? It’d clear the path just as we hit the launch tubes surely?” The entire time the sensors of the Cerberus were tracking the anomaly. The sensors were more designed for combat though, not as sophisticated as a runabout or even a shuttle. "Hate to break the immersion and operational subspace silence for a minor class I anomaly..." Sean admitted. "I hate dead Marines and cancelled training operations more." Just as he was about to put the button to hail the Hades, the console indicated the onboard science algorithm had finished the analysis. "Wait a sec..." Sean said, holding up a gloved hand. "Looks like we have movement." (Reply any) "The computer says that the anomalies are most likely moving towards an unknown gravitational or subspace point outside of our nominal sensor range. Eighty-seven point three-five percent probability." Sean was no scientist either, so he read off what the computer's analysis was nearly verbatim. (Reply any) Being a Starfleet brat, knowing full well Starfleet would want someone to come back and look at it later, someone better equipped. "I'm going to drop a buoy so that Hades can come take a look, maybe they'll have the sensor range to determine where this thing is going." (Reply any) "Oh, yeah." Sean said with a smile. "We will replot our approach vector keeping the course of the gravity thing in mind. Shouldn't delay more than twenty minutes." (Reply any) (USS Cerberus, Pilot Compartment - MCO, Major Sean Masters - 1450) "Arrival at SP time, now." Sean spoke into the flight recorder. "Attention on deck." (Reply Cerberus Passengers) Sean flipped the rear compartment lighting from white to green. "We're in position. Final checks." (Reply Stom) "Order of march Three, four, one, two followed by command and auxiliary. That's us Doc." Sean said clearly. (Reply Keats) "Movement will be squad wedge, echelon toward the likely contact side which is the left side." Sean knew that particular detail had changed with the reploting of their attack vector away from the gravitational anomaly. So he took the time to explain it so everything ran smoothly. "Platoon formation is staggered column pairs on the left and right side of command. From above we will look like a big letter 'H'. Each side will move forward using bounding overwatch. One squad sets and covers the other's movements, then sets and covers the squad who had just covered their movement so that we can get maximum accuracy and our movement is always covered. Anyone makes contact with the enemy during movement, will find cover and lay down suppressive fire. The opposite element will move to flank the objective. It should start looking familiar to you knuckleheads after that." (Reply any) "Doc, you will stick with myself and the Gunny, if we take any injured they will move that Marine back or they will self extract to a place behind cover if possible so that you and myself or Gunny will move up to the patient and you'll, well you'll do your stuff." (USS Auberjonois - Bridge - Engineering Officer - Ensign Wednesday Adams - 1521) As they stepped off the turbo lift Toks went into his report Commander Solice. While he did that Wednesday began to tour the bridge. She sat at an engineering station and began to run through some system diagnostics. After a few minutes she noticed something had shifted in the comm system diagnostic. At first she thought it was due to her modifications she made in the Gyms comm system. Then she traced it to incoming messages. Out of the corner of her brain she heard the commander’s voice say, “Suggestions?” “Ummm… Commander,” Wednesday called out, “I think you might want to look at this. It seems we have an incoming message. And I think it’s from the planet.” (reply Solice, any) (posted by Al Muir) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Just then the turbolift opened, Quinna turned her head and then directed her attention back to the science station. "Good to see you Quinna. What do we know?" “Ummm Raven,,,” Quinna shook her head,” I can’t, sorry, Lt. Green. I just arrived on the Bridge before right before you. Aside from the big blue planet on the screen, I have not learned anything yet, so I thought about accessing the science station to find out.” Quinna took the lead, “Lt. Green, I need you at the security station and scan for hazards on the planet and in the immediate area. Lt. Weston, can you man the helm and try to find where we are. We need to get full communications established. I am assuming Ensign Adams will be on her way when she gets a hold of Toks.” (Reply Weston, Green, Anyone that shows) (Posted by Kris B) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... He shook his head and followed. The ride up the lift was silent. He was uncertain of the trustworthiness of the ship’s computer at this time. However, the lift did deposit them on the bridge as requested. Before he could say anything Green was speaking, as though she were in command. "Good to see you Quinna. What do we know?" His eyes narrowed and he was about to say something about how one speaks to a commanding officer but Quinna spoke first. Her voice seemed a bit… cool. ”I can’t,” she said, “sorry, Lt. Green.” There was a slight inflection on the word lieutenant. “I just arrived on the bridge right before you. Aside from the big blue planet on the screen, I have not learned anything yet, so I thought about accessing the science station to find out.” “Lt. Green,” again there was that accent on the Lieutenant, as she was attempting to correct Green’s lack of protocol, “I need you at the security station and scan for hazards on the planet and in the immediate area. Lt. Weston, can you man the helm and try to find where we are? We need to get full communications established. I am assuming Ensign Adams will be on her way when she gets a hold of Toks.” Michael smiled and raised an eyebrow, “Lieutenant? Guess I’m back in uniform.” The last time he was in this position he was Cap’n Mikey Weston, and they were in an alternate universe. He passed Green on his way to the helm, looking at her harshly. "Lieutenant, perhaps later you and I can have a word about protocol, and who, exactly, is in command of this mission. Commander Solice does not answer to you.” He sat down at the helm and looked over the star charts. “We are definitely in the Gamma Quadrant. It appears that we were traveling at warp nine for nearly an hour. We are in a star system about 0.17 light years from the wormhole.’ He ran a scan of the system and the planet. “This is the second planet of a class K star system. The planet itself is habitable, with a breathable atmosphere. There’s a slight variation of the Oxygen/Nitrogen mix, but it’s survivable.” He paused for a moment then added, “There’s something else in the atmosphere that the computer can’t identify. However, it’s not toxic, so…,” he shrugged. “Life forms are detected across the planet,” he continued, “and if I’m not mistaken, there’s a compound here,” he tapped a button and a red circle appeared on the view screen. “Sensors show multiple Alpha and Beta quadrant life forms.” (reply Solice, Green) (posted by Al Muir) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Commander William Gunther From: tinmanjayc at gmail.com (Tinman JayC) Date: Sat, 28 Mar 2026 11:51:02 -0400 SBFREEDOM-RPG: (4 - 1520) Lt. Commander William Gunther Mission: Homecoming Day: 4 Stardate: 2446.10.18 (Planetfall Compound – Lt. Commander William “Gun” Gunther-1520) Sitting in his quarters- home, its home- Gun gave his weapons against the moles -who named them? They are more like quadrupedal ten tentacles land squid with rose nosed mandibles.- He sharpened the quills the thin rods of sharpened wood dipped in the poison, and wearing his thick gloves placed them one by one in their sheaths. One prick and you were dead before the pain registered. Sighing, Gun let his mind wander. He was trained to build and maintain ships that transversed the black between stars. Now he looked, with resilience and grief at the crude weapons he fashioned to save everyone else since he did not save his wife. Somehow the routine brought him back to the thrum of warp engines the peace and rhythm of knowing the chaos and order around you. He missed his wife, he missed his old life, and yet there was what was now. He leaned back and grabbed his utility belt, to grab twine to bind the quills, and that’s when he saw the red light blinking three then pause three then pause. His eyes widened. “What? What!!!!” His first thought was malfunction and he gripped the utility belt like it was all that separated him from plummeting off a cliff as he rushed outside to the ladder that quickly carried him to the rudimentary radar like sensor on his roof. It pointed at the sky. It wasn’t being bothered by the rat- birds here. It was clean. He’d kept it going since being put here. “Oh wow oh wow!” He shouted as he descended the steps and ran full speed toward the center of the compound. Others turned and watched him, probably thinking he was losing it. Possibly thinking his sensors had registered another mole digging. They generally headed the other way. This time they seemed to sense it was different. In fact others followed him. That was when, rounding one of the buildings he saw Nathan. “A ship!” He shouted. “There’s a ship in orbit. Nathan. There’s a ship!” He explained, grabbing the other man by the shoulders then haphazardly waving the belt with the light. “I confirmed no malfunction.” He was breathing harder than a normal run would create. Others caught up.” “A shop? Are you sure?” Someone asked. Others spoke but Gunther kept his eyes on Nathan. (Reply any, Nathan) Posted by tinmanjayc We are what we repeatedly do. "The scans don't detect any threats Ma'am.  LT Weston said the atmosphere is breatheable  but it might be prudent to wear a breathing device until we are adjusted to the environment."
