How long have I been here?” “Well, let me ask this…” Quinna tested, “What do you last remember?” “The last thing I remember was an explosion and being hurled into a bulkhead…then I sat up and tried to get my bearings…say my leg twisted then now here.” Said Matrix. Quinna shook her head. Memory seemed cleared. “OK” “How long will I need to remain here?” Scott continued. Quinna bit her lower lip as she was entering more information into his file, “Well, I am concerned about the pain. We need to manage the pain.” (Matrix Reply) “You also had recent surgery to repair the bone in your leg. “ Quinna said. (Matrix reply) “24 hours. I want you to stay for another 24 hours. (Matrix reply) (Played by Kris) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Day: 07 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< (USS Illuminar -- Sickbay -- Deck 5 — Ensign Scott Matrix -- 0431) It had been nearly four days in sickbay as far as Scott could recall. He was lonely, but the medics and doctors did their best to keep him entertained between check ups and medications. Overall he felt good, but still extremely sore. His leg was the biggest complaint, the pain was largely gone, but when he moved it a certain way it sent his nervous system into overdrive. He managed to get his hands on a duty roster and engineering PADD. He needed to keep his mind busy and felt out of touch with what was going on both onboard and in engineering. He wanted to get back to work. The doctors told him it would be several more days. He couldn’t bare the thought more time in this bed. “Excuse me…” he said lightly, trying to get the attention of anyone who might be in the medical office. The call button had fallen off the bed and was out of reach. He didn’t want to wake up the other patient. Frustrated he punched up a message on his PADD and sent it to the medical office. Hopefully someone would see it and come in soon. (Reply anyone in sickbay) (Posted by Steve) (USS Illuminar -- Personal Quarters -- Deck 2 -- CMO Lt. J.G. Quinna Solice -- 0440) Quinna awoke. She hated when she woke up early. She heard an alarm. “Computer, time.” Quinna stretched at the time of the request. “The time is 0442 hours. Incoming Message” Quinna picked up the PADD she kept with her all the time. She opened the message. She had a hard time focusing her sleepy, tired eyes. But she got the idea that someone needed help in sickbay. Quinna slipped on her robe over her shorts and tank top and headed barefoot to sickbay. She had an outrageous case of bedhead hair design. (USS Illuminar -- Sickbay -- Deck 5 -- CMO Lt. J.G. Quinna Solice -- 0455) “Ok where is everyone?” Quinna said to herself. There was suppose to be an overnight medic/nurse. She moved to the only patient. As she started to talk to Ensign Matrix, she let out a loud yawn. “What’s wrong?” She asked. (Matrix Reply) As she moved closer to the biobed, she stepped on his call button. She wrapped her toes around the button and lifter her leg the retrieve the button. She did not feel like bending over. “Here you go.” And handed the button back to Matrix. (Matrix Reply) “I am sorry you are stuck here. But isn’t it better to stay here than leave and have to have your bones reset again?” Quinna asked. (Matrix Reply) (Played by Kris) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Day: 12 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< (Deep Space Nine - Quarks Bar – OPS Ensign Dieter Gregory – 20:00) Gregory took a sip of his Spring Wine, pushing the Ramufta around his plate with a piece of Mapa bread. Things were spiraling out of control, and the young officer had no idea what was going on. The Chief had excused him from the 0100 duty he was originally scheduled for, which allowed him to drink some Spring Wine to calm his nerves. Quark came over to the young officer, “Rumors have it that someone ransacked your quarters.” “I’m sure the whole station knows now, Quark.” “Do you know what they were looking for?” “Quark, I have no idea. It’s not like I have time to gather wealth or anything valuable. I’m a Ensign, and the Chief keeps me busy. As does your cousin’s handiwork.” Quark chuckled, “He does have a way with things. He keeps the lights on, and the holosuites working. The Customers are satisfied. I make profit, I am happy. Is your Ramufta not to your liking?” “No Quark, it is fine. I’m just not so hungry. I could use another Spring Wine though.” Gregory said, pushing his empty glass forward. “I heard the Chief let you off of duty tonight,” the Ferengi said as he refilled the glass. “You hear a lot,” Gregory said. “Rule of Acquisition number 7, Always keep your ears open,” Quark replied. “Also Rule of Acquisition number 23, ‘Wise men can hear profit in the wind.’” Gregory nodded, “And what does the wind blow to your ears?” “This,” Quark held up a green Isolinear Chip. He placed it on the bar and slid it over to Gregory. “This is payment for the work you have done to keep the Bar running and profit accumulating.” Gregory paused for a moment, “No other strings?” “Rule of Acquisition 127. ‘Gratitude can bring on generosity.’” Gregory slid the chip over and put it in his kit. He’d look at it later, much as he wanted to do it now. Somewhere private, somewhere safe. “Thank you, Quark,” he said as he drained his Spring Wine. “Have a good night Hew-mon,” he replied as he moved to fill another Patron’s glass. (Deep Space Nine - Access Tunnel – OPS Ensign Dieter Gregory – 21:15) Finding some private space was difficult. He didn’t trust his new, temporary quarters, even though there was security posted outside. The Chief of Security had promised a swift investigation, but figuring out who ransacked an Ensign’s quarters was not high on the priority list. Gregory sat down in the open space. He took out the isolinear chip that Quark had given him. Popping it into the reader, he started reviewing the information on the chip. As he read, it was hard not to believe this wasn’t a Dixon Hill or Benny Russell novel. Where ever Quark got his information, well, hell this was priceless. He’d have to keep it a secret, that was the least he could do for Quark. So there was no genetic identity to the dead Bajoran. Nor was there a record of an Simo Aic or Afi Shusa on Bajor, even though those IDs were used to board the station. On my way. =^= (Reply None) (Post by Tim) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Day: 13 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< (Deep Space Nine – Temporary Quarters – OPS Ensign Dieter Gregory – 01:00) Gregory pulled off his boots and collapsed on the bed. It had been a hell of a day. At least the chief let him off the overnight work party. So many different things were happening to him that he needed to think. Mentally, he started making a list of everything off that had happened over the past fortnight. ~One. The anomaly. The tachyon particles coming from the Denorios belt. ~Two. The strange giant Bajoran he kept seeing. And what the heck was happening again. Was it a warning? Some hallucination? Probably should report it to medical, and talk to a counselor, but that isn’t in the cards.” ~Three. The explosion at Quarks and the unknown Bajoran. Quarks information, if it was to be believed, was that this dead man was not in any of the Bajoran records. ~ ~Four. The visit from the two imposters, looking for the key he was given. He was keeping it secret like the dead man asked him to. Good thing too, since it seems these two were not listed in Bajor. Too bad they didn’t get DNA samples to see who they really were.~ ~Five. The break in. Someone had gotten past standard station security to enter his quarters, where they proceeded to tear the place apart.~ Reflecting on the meeting at Security, there wasn’t much information distributed. The working theory was that someone was able to get his prints and a voice recording with sufficient quality to trick the sensors. They were older generation, and jury-rigged with Federation and Cardassian parts so that wasn’t surprising. Security also revealed that the two Bajorans were not who they said they were. They had been efficient at not giving a good clean face shot to the security cameras, so face recognition was out. No one was sure if they were still on the station or not. There were parties searching, but so far nothing. Yawning, “I should take a shower,” he said out loud. Tonight, he should be safe, he hoped, with the two security guards outside his door. However, his curiosity got the better of him. Moving over to the workstation, Gregory grabbed his tricorder and pulled the key out. What was so important about this key? It didn’t look like much, other than the piece of glass that was secured in the bow of the key. Opening the tricorder, he began scanning the key. Nothing fancy about the metal. It was common material to Bajor. The composition of the glass indicated it was probably made in Lonar Province. Again, nothing to write home about. His tricorder pinned. Looking at the scan, it indicated high levels of residual radiation. Specifically, Tachyons and Verterons. Verteron’s were associated with the wormhole. Did that mean this came from the wormhole? He was living a Dixon Hill novel, and he didn't like mysteries! Yawning again, he opened up his kit, and slide the lid of a small compartment. He closed the kit and locked it with a new code. Finally, he put it in the room safe, along with an alarm in case it was moved. Closing the safe and the cabinet door, he moved to the bed and collapsed again. He was asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow. (Reply none) (Posted by Tim) (Deep Space Nine – Temporary Quarters – OPS Ensign Dieter Gregory – 09:00) The beeping of the alarm finally woke Gregory from a sound sleep. He was still dressed in his uniform from yesterday. The events of yesterday started to filter into his brain as he slowly sat up. “Computer, tea, hot. Double strong, single sweet,” he ordered as he stood up. The familiar sounds of the replicator filled his ears as the aroma of his tea tickled his nostrils. Tapping his badge, =^= Gregory to Chief. (Deep Space Nine – Operations – OPS Ensign Dieter Gregory – 09:32) Still drinking his tea, his kit in his left hand, Gregory stepped into Operations. He saw the Chief in the pit, talking to the Station Commander and Chief of Security. The Chief motioned him over to the pit. Gregory stopped about a meter away. “Ensign, it seems you have caused quite a stir on the station,” the Commander said. “It’s quite remarkable, actually, and did give Security something to do, which was a welcome diversion from the usual,” added the Chief of Security. The Chief motioned Gregory to take a seat. The Security Chief motioned to the display. “After the report of the break-in and subsequent lack of information from Bajor, we started our own search. My team was able to trace the two Bajoran’s who you met in the Infirmary. It turns out we found traces of their DNA in your quarters, along with a cup with your DNA and palm print. The two in question are notorious smugglers and thieves. They specialize in antiquities and have open warrants on Bajor, Cardassia and several other planets. We determined which ship they took out of here and have a team pursuing them.” “We hope to apprehend them shortly, and will need you to confirm their identity, and will need a statement from you.” “Of course, Ma’am,” he replied. =^= Rubicon to Deep Space Nine. The Vessel we were pursuing has disappeared. Vanished. =^= “Lieutenant Johnson?” the Commander asked. “Sir, science concurs. One moment the ship was on a heading 237 by 163, and now it is gone. Science is scanning now. =^= “Sir, I have located a trail of chroniton particles on a heading of 132 by 321. It is weak and fading fast. It looks like an old cloaking device, circa 2370’s. It’ll keep giving of chroniton’s but the Rubicon is not equipped to follow such a trail.” “Commander, it’s your call,” said the Chief of Security, “We could send the Spitfire out, but that would take 3 hours to launch and get on station to start the search.” The commander shook his head, “It’s not worth it, please send out a notice about these to. Bring the Rubicon home.” “Aye sir.” The Chief looked at Gregory. “Take a seat at Engineering for today. You’re assignment with the Illuminar starts in 5 days, and I wouldn’t what you to get into any more mischief before you leave.” “Aye sir,” he said dejected. Sienna Williams-Verin & SPC Luma'lenai - 0215) Sienna walked through the ship, quiet and calm. It was something that she did most nights after her shift on the Bridge ended. It gave her a feel for the ship, allowed the crew to stop and talk with her and helped her get a handle on the repairs and upgrades. She enjoyed the walks, contemplative, and she enjoyed the time she spent talking with Luma and getting her perspective as well. While Sienna missed her brother terribly, the pain around losing Lynn Bracken as her Imzadi was beginning to fade, the bond that hurt so jaggedly dimming with distance mostly and time secondly. Sienna generally picked a time to wander when Vex was either working or asleep. While Luma could easily, and often did talk to both of them Sy did not want her attention to be compromised. ::Is not compromised, Our Sienna, is easy. Luma is spread all over the skin and the new interface of the packs and the crystals make it easy for Luma to do things, like move the ship into and out of the river. Is interesting Our Sienna that the crystals themselves are the key, the properties. Can move easier into the time continuum too.:: Sy grinned, Luma's joy a palatable thing. Sienna was pretty sure that everyone on the ship could feel Luma in some way and although there were a few wary souls aboard, it seemed that most had accepted her. ::Luma do you know much about the bonds that tie a Betazoid to someone of another race, say a bajoran/human hybrid for instance?:: Sy peeked into the quiet arboretum, smiling as she saw the plants that she had picked and help plant aboard the ship beginning to flourish. ::Luma likes the roses.:: Luma volunteered but Sy could tell the entity was considering what Sienna had asked. ::In normal binding between the Illumina, the males were the ones that began the process. The woman had to complete or accept it. There were rarely other races aboard Siev'rae, my ship, but when there were, sometimes the bondings would happen, but it had to be with a male Illuminari, and never a female. Some females were mated with non-Illuminari, but rarely and never did they bond. Women were too precious to our people.:: Luma was not saying something, and Sy was curious, but wasn't sure how to ask it. (Deck 7 - 0230) Sy decided to forego the turbolift and get some exercise, so she walked into a maintenance hallway and opened the hatch, using the ladder to climb down a deck. She was not getting nearly enough exercise. Luma's voice returned. :: The men of the Illumina would sometimes become dark and attack people. It was because of being aboard the ship. There was a plan to breed that trait out, but it was often the case that the women who they bonded with would calm that instinct. The men needed the women, and although there were some that preferred being with ones who were like them, it was also very rare and very much frowned upon. So I'm not sure how to help you. The bond is a legacy of that, and it was designed to protect, not harm. Those who lost their bondmates would often die, perishing from grief and heartache.:: Sy's breath caught in her throat. Luckily that was no longer the case. Her twin Trip had bonded with an Orian and he had lost her during The Incident. Sienna wasn't sure if it was their twin bond that had prevented him from following her into death. He had hurt but he had also healed. ::So Luma is not sure how to assist you. Perhaps you should speak with Our Alaya concerning it? Our Alaya is gifted and she is kind. Or... maybe you could reach out to Betazed and see if someone there can assist you. You do the mental exercises and the meditation daily, Luma can feel it. :: Luma's voice was rich and reassuring to Sienna as she finally stepped onto the turbolift to head to her quarters and get some sleep. (Deck 2, 0300) ::If it would help, would you like Luma to sing to you in the old language? You are very musical, and it might help when you sleep. There are a number of old lullabyes that Luma knows, that you might be interested in?:: Sy smiled, ::That would be lovely Luma, thank you.:: Sienna entered her quarters and prepared for bed. She had another crazy day in the morning and needed her rest. After she washed and changed, braiding her dark hair for the night, Luma began to sing. Sienna slid under the covers and closed her eyes, falling asleep easily for the first time in several nights. Once Luma registered that Sienna's respirations were within the normal parameters for sleeping, Luma quieted, keeping her eye on all of her small ones, protecting them against whatever might harm them. She will add to the program after she explains the Rite of Ascension to Luma. "Hello Luma. If you have concerns for me it is understandable. I am preparing for a Klingon ritual called the Rite of Ascension. My father did it before me and my grandfather did it before him. More than likely my great grandfather did it before him. It is the trial of a warrior. It is believed that when the Rite is completed that death no longer has a hold on the warrior's spirit. The final ritual in death culminating with the Death Wail sending a warning to heaven or Stovocour that a warrior is about to enter. I can perform the Death Wail if you wish but it will be very loud and disturbing. The choice is yours Luma. I will be increasing the pain this session so ask your questions now." (Reply Luma) (Posted by Edward ) (USS Illuminar - Holodeck 1 - ACOUNS ACMO ENS SG Ariel Trei - 17.01) She modified the program to have rattlesnakes instead of yellow jackets be the source of pain. As with the first session, she instructed the computer to have the pain inflicted but not the venom. The computer chimed that the program was ready. She entered the scene and walked along a dirt path. She heard distinctive rattles on both sides of the path. A few snakes slithered out of the grass on to the path about 50 feet in front of her. She stopped her progress on the path and though of the best way to handle the situation. First she tried backing up a few feet to see what the snakes do. The snakes didn't react any way or the other. She tried to move forward a few feet and the snakes inched toward her. She thought this might happen so she stopped on the path. The snakes inched more and more toward her. She tried what the shamans did and sang a rhythmic song to hypnotize the snakes. This however did not work. She took a defensive stance to brace for the attack. The snake in front snapped at her and bit her on the left thigh. The pain was immediate. The other two snakes chose her thighs at random. The pain was low at the moment. A group of several snakes joined the party now. She made the return to the entrance arc. The snakes began to gang attack her along her return to the arc. She mused that the gang attack would resemble the Rite when she is ready for the ritual. The pain was getting more than noticeable now. She was able to get to the arc without much problem. Time to edge of Asteroid field, 15 minutes.” “Gunsmoke, get those sensors tuned and see what we have as a map for this asteroid.” “On it.” As Gunsmoke worked her controls, Raid charted best course to the search coordinates. “Gunsmoke, let’s set the scanners to federation EVA signal, see if that can speed up detection.” Fifteen minutes passed as the two worked their respective stations. As they approached the asteroid field, the proximity alarm went off. “Evasive maneuvers, pattern Delta 5,” Raid said. “Overlaying scanner results to nav display. Red square is out target.” “Copy that.” This was real flying. Seat of the pants since the asteroids were being unpredictable. (Warning Collision in 10 seconds) “Gunsmoke, turn that warning off,” Raid said as he jerked the shuttle to port. His hands worked over the navigational thruster controls guiding the shuttle into position, while avoiding the rocks hurdling towards him. “I have life-signs,” called Gunsmoke. “Working on getting a lock.” Raid danced the shuttle around an approaching asteroid. “It would be easier if you could keep us still,” Gunsmoke grumbled, as the shuttle jerked upwards. “Doing my best. Get that lock,” “Locked on. Transporting two. Can’t find the third signal.” In the back of the shuttle, the sounds of the completed transport sequence filled the cabin. Suddenly there was a phaser shot from the transporter. Gunsmoke turned around, “Pirates,” she called. The two figures pointed phasers at Raid and the control panel. “Take us away from here, heading 176 by 239.” Raid looked at Gunsmoke. “OK, just don’t shoot anything or we all die.” He inputted new coordinates, “Lets go blue,” he said to Gunsmoke, who nodded. Punching the thrusters, the shuttle started to tumble in 3 dimensions, corkscrewing around the asteroid field. As the men started to get tossed around, Gunsmoke activated a small forcefield, separating the cabin from where the transporter was. A phaser discharged, then a second one. Wild shots, but one lucky one hit a control panel. “Now Gunsmoke,” Raid said as he pulled a breathing mask over his face. . The aft compartment started to fill with Axonol. The shuttle started to settle down. “Controls are sluggish, they must have hit something.” The computer warning started blaring again. (Loss of aft navigational thrusters. Collision in 10 Seconds) Raid worked his magic over the controls, ignoring the aft thruster, he brought the shuttle up, and started to push out of the asteroid field. Suddenly everything went dark. “What the hell.” “Sorry Raid, you and Gunsmoke are needed for some real flyby action.” (Post any, as wanted) (Posted by Tim) (Bajor- Ashalla - Hotel entrance - Acting Chief of Security- Ensign (sg) Svend Saarsgard - 1806) He crouched as soon as the transporter effect cleared enough to do so. Passersby were gawking as the barrel of the phaser rifle swept around the area putting some of them to flight with his eye following the reticule. No weapons in sight and no threats overt or otherwise that he could see. "Starfleet security, clear the street!" He bellowed putting the rest to seeking cover or running away. Finally satisfied there were no enemy combatants he darted to one side of the door to the lobby so no one could attack his six. =^= Hammerfield to Svend, we are in position at the hotel basement. =^= He tapped his combadge, his eyes never still. (Bajor- Ashalla - Hotel lobby - Acting Chief of Security- Ensign (sg) Svend Saarsgard - 1809) He followed the rifle in, the lobby wasn't crowded but it wasn't empty either. "Starfleet security, everyone on the floor!" He bellowed. All froze for an instant before dropping except for one who popped out from behind a corner across the lobby on the left. He was wearing an elaborate getup with a yellow sash and was swinging a phaser pistol toward Svend. He appeared to have gotten caught watching or guarding a door but that wasn't all he got caught by as energy erupted from the barrel of Svend's rifle. He was outlined for an instant in blue light before crumpling to the floor. There was answering fire but he was already moving to cover. ~Only an idiot works alone and these aren't idiots apparently. That's fine, it adds spice to the game.~ "Hammerfield one down with one in play in the lobby. Watch your six." (Reply: Hammerfield) His head popped out from behind the pillar then back behind cover before the second combatant could get a good target and the shot wasn't even close to hitting. ~Exposed your cover you son of a *****. It's a bad day for you.~ He set the phaser rifle to disintegrate. ~I hope that pillar is decorative and not load bearing.~ He readied himself then made the same move to bait the enemy into firing knowing it would take the weapon an instant to recharge before firing again. Same result. ~Serves you right stupid for what you're about to get.~ He swung around the pillar he was hiding behind and his rifle fired dead center on the pillar the goon was using for cover. The pillar glowed for an instant before vanishing. Before the astonished goon could react Svend had dropped the rifle and dove to the tiles as he was grabbing his sidearm. Both phasers fired at nearly the same instant, the enemy shot high and took a full stun charge to the chest which slammed him back against the wall behind him. Saarsgard shouted into the comm. Be sure that you're patched into the Illuminar systems so that we can map what we find in the Illuminar data banks as well as here in the mobile station." Jaton commanded. Stennin nodded fervently and walked over to one of the commpacks. He tapped a few commands and the interface showed the Illuminar. He waited for a moment, and then said: "Connection is established. Our tricorder will be directly related to the lab personnel." "Perfect. Confirming the connection... now.," Jaton said as the first monitor came online. "I have one team looking at the magnetic readings here. The probes showed errors in this sector, I have to confirm them." Stennin said. He took a tricorder from the desk, and then nodded at Jaton. He motioned for Crewman Olafsson, a young terran, to follow him. "I will keep an open commlink." He remarked to Jaton. "And I'll do the same," Jaton replied. Stennin nodded, and then activated the tricorder. He walked towards the east wing. She said. "Most puzzling." =/\= Ensign Stennin to Lieutenant Alyl. Our scanners indicated no anomalies in our wing. Have you discovered anything? =/\= Jaton tapped his commbadge. What does that make me?~ They had the enemy caught in a pincher and it was now his job to provide crossfire. The weapon was undamaged from its impact with the floor so he jumped out and began sprinting farther into the building after changing the setting. He rounded the island containing the hotel managers desk, the man's eyes were peeking over it and wide with alarm and almost ran into a combatant who was crouched behind a heavy tile basin containing a large exotic plant. There was no sightline on his men from this vantage point so he was obviously waiting in ambush. He was whirling around to meet the new threat but his eyes went wide at the sight of a big, booted foot headed for his face. The sound of the firefight had covered Saarsgard's approach until the very last instant. The sole of the boot met his nose with a sickly crunch and blood fountained as his skull was driven back into the basin. There wasn't even a moan as the phaser dropped to the tiles with a clatter from nerveless fingers. ~Not sorry to say you might not make it old son.~ "Hammerfield I have an sniper position on their flank near the main desk." Penny Mc Taggard 18:14 ) Penny listened as the officer explained the situation. Lanis chuckled, “We got bad guys coming at us. Stun anyone not wearing a Star Fleet uniform.” This had Penny worried. She wasn’t wearing a Starfleet uniform as such. These cadet uniforms were a new design. What if one of the good guys shot her by mistake? “Commander,” Devers said. “It’s not safe here, you and the Ensign might want to wait inside. Well. Penny wanted to help. Now things were definitely getting risky. Was it folly to jump in even before they handed you your very own yellow shirt? Penny had taken the oath. As the drill Sargent had said. “ You are all now part of a brotherhood. Whenever you meet a person baring the same badge as this. They are a fellow officer part of a family that stretches the Galaxy. It is your duty to help that person if they are in need of help.” He told her class of cadets. So. Yes. This was were she should be. Slowly moving along a corridor getting fired at. “Commander, Ensign please stay behind Lanis and myself, keep your backs to the wall till we get to the room.” (Reply Sekal, Alaya) Penny nodded. Best do as ordered. But she held the Phaser ready. Mc Taggard was a very good shot. She had scored high marks on the shooting range even with a Phaser rifle. Which was quite a difficult weapon to master. “ Don’t worry people. I scored top marks on the Starfleet academy shooting range. I have your backs.” Penny said. (Replay, Sekal, Alaya, McTaggard, Carson) ( Posted by:- Norman 🐨) (Bajor - Ashalla, Hotel High Hallack (Temple Hotel), 2nd floor, Corridor – CO- Lieutenant Commander Sekal – 1816) “Commander, we need to get you secured, we have more incoming.” They had been holding their own for several minutes and unconcious Bajorans lay scattered about the hallway but any forces remaining between the second floor and ground floor being pushed by the rescue force were expected to move in their direction. There were many logical reasons for this, their targets were here and there would be a lot of cover if they could break through the defense. The most interesting question was what their ultimate targets were. Vedek Horavei had boasted of having extensive forces to call upon but the few in attendance were with him in his room at the end of the corridor and he had disclaimed this new force as being under his control. Two of his guards had also killed a number of them. They were now out of the fight having retreated to take up vigil over the leader of the council once again. If Horavei was not directing them then the attack could not be aimed at the Starfleet personnel despite the coincidental timing. A force this large would need time to stage. Sekal and his party had been here only a brief time and the meeting only recently planned. If not StarFleet personnel then the logical target was Horavei himself and perhaps others on the council. The only logical extrapolation then was that they had stumbled into a preplanned attack upon the leadership of the Bajoran religion set in motion by the leader of the Pagh Wraith cultists. These enemy combatants might indeed have been attempting to disguise themselves in order to get close to the leadership. There was also a very high probability due to their numbers that these were actually members of the temple guard who had either been planted within it or later turned by the cultists and did not owe Horavei any allegiance. If so elements of Horavei's own temple guard force was in arms against him. Also Sekal's presence here was a detriment to his security contingent's safety as protecting him limited their ability to move freely. "We are not their target. Taking cover should greatly increase our survivability. Find an unoccupied room to shelter in.," “Lieutenant need a room. A chokepoint.” Devers responded. (Reply Carson) “Great. Lanis, ready?” “Copy that,” she said, “Lieutenant, we’re moving to your position.” “Commander, Ensign please stay behind Lanis and myself, keep your backs to the wall till we get to the room.” It was textbook tactics. While he was more than able to defend himself it was his duty to protect them by freeing them to operate freely. Sekal did as requested until he reached the indicated room and entered. “Don’t worry people. I scored top marks on the Starfleet academy shooting range. I have your backs.” The cadet was inexperienced perhaps but willing. Her unassigned status would have to be rectified soon. (Reply: Alaya) The room was modest in size with almost a quarter of the floor space taken up by the bed. Sekal took the corner that was not within sightline of the open door with his phaser at the ready. Any trying to come through the door would face a withering fire from within. "Remain within the room, the enemy should pass us by. Between the Vedek's guards and our relief force the enemy should stand little chance. I anticipate any trying to enter will be seeking shelter." Mc Taggard gave the mattress a test. She was surprised how hard it felt. An idea formed in her mind. They could use it as a barricade. It would probably last a few minutes if that. Bajoran’s favoured more powerful weapons. Left over from fighting the Cardassion’s . Their high energy beams would slice through the bed. Like a hot knife through butter or flesh. She tried to move it. But the bed would not budge. Penny bent down to inspected the beds legs. Why would a hotel bolt down a bed? Were they frightened someone might steal it? Transport it away before checking out? “If we could move this bed and block up the door. It could make a pleasing barricade. Probably won’t last a few minutes. But a few minutes could buy us a little more extra life.” She told them. (Reply Sekal) “The only problem is it appears to be bolted to the floor. It could make a pleasing barricade. Probably won’t last a few minutes. The bolts groan as Devers lifted the frame. With a loud pop, the bolts come out of the floor. “Hercules indeed,” Lanis said, “The rumors are true.” Devers finished lifting the bed off the floor, before putting it against a wall. “Beds not a good barrier against a phaser, but we need more room to move around.” “Orders Sir?” (Reply Sekal, any) (Post by Tim B) (Bajor - Ashalla, Hotel High Hallack (Temple Hotel), 2nd floor, room – SPC COUNS Alaya Ravenstone – 1823) Alaya was afraid. She had been afraid in the Dean's room, had been terrified when she sensed the emotions of the ones fighting outside. She had to firmly resist the impulse to read the thoughts of those attacking them. Alaya had never been in a true combat situation before - she had trained and she had fought in training but had never been in a life or death situation before. And this new starfleet cadet had randomly showed up to assist them. But when they had gotten to the room they were sheltering in, Alays looked Penny over. "Cadet my name is Counselor Ravenstone. May I have permission to quickly scan your thoughts to make sure that you are on our side, and not a plant?" Alaya was taking nothing at face value and this Cadet had arrived at exactly the right moment. Coincidence perhaps but she was not taking any chances. The security officers were working on moving a bed to the front of the door and the male, Devers was trying to prove that he was a hercules. Alaya had heard that he was often teased and sometimes nicknamed that because he did weight training on the ship and had competed in some competitions back on Earth and Mars. "Lanis, I admit I'm scared. Would you mind standing over here with me?" Alaya was trying to protect the female officer. She was glad when Lanis came over. Alaya whispered, "What is Steven going to do if I get an injury?" Alaya had no weapon, but she did have her blades. She didn't pull them however. She was nervous. Devers turned towards Sekal and asked for orders. "Can we reach the ship? Why don't we just beam out?" She felt like she was stating the obvious. At least her idea about using the bed as a barricade. Was being worked on. For some reason it was bolted down. I McTaggard wondered what this bearded cousin. Who went by the name of More looked like. There had been this creepy guy with a beard. At the academy who kept looking at her. But when she approached him he ran off. Any further thoughts on the creepy guy were driven away when Ravenstone asked to scan Penny’s thoughts. Mc Taggard had nothing to hide really. Plus it would prove she was a genuine just graduated starfleet cadet. “If it will put yer mind at ease. I have nay problem counsellor.” Penny said with a smile. He was about to ask that he and the Counsellor step back into the room with the Vedek and his guards when they had been set on again by the assailants. "That one." he nodded to the two security agents alongside him as he took up a defensive position by it. Carson put down covering fire as Devers and Lanis escorted Sekal and Ravenstone into the room with the newly minted Ensign. Unused to the weapon he was using, his shots weren't making him look like the ace shot that he knew he was. It had been a while since he'd engaged in shooting practice, due to the demands of his new role so he made a mental note to make time the next time he was on the ship. Once the group had entered the room, Carson stepped in backwards with his weapon facing out of the door. There was a silence as the door was slid shut and locked. "Remain within the room, the enemy should pass us by. Between the Vedek's guards and our relief force the enemy should stand little chance. I anticipate any trying to enter will be seeking shelter." "Super work." Carson said as he breathed out. It was only then he realised the Bajoran guards the Vedek had sent with him had either perished or retreated back to keep the Vedek safe. He tapped his comm badge, "Ensign Saarsgard, Hammerfield. We've holed up in room 237. Primary is in hand and we'll stay put unless told otherwise. "Can we reach the ship? Why don't we just beam out?" Ravenstone said from across the room. Carson made a calming gesture with his hand to the personnel in the room and gestured to the corners, "Please, everyone move to the corners away from the doors and prepare your weapons. If we stay low and quiet, they may never know we're here. He passed the Commander his tri-corder, "Commander can you hook this up to the room's sensors and provide us with a black-out zone? It didn't look like they had any personal sensor equipment, but you never know." (Reply Sekal) He turned to the Counselor, who he understood was well outside of her comfort zone. "The Hotel has made it so a beam out is impossible." he said in a kind tone, "Needn't worry though, if I know My Hammons as I do, if he's heard we're in trouble I'm sure he's ignoring every order given to him and barging through the entire Hotel to get here. We're probably safer for having you here." he smiled in her direction. "Thinking about it, Starfleet might have to reimburse the owners of this establishment for whatever damage he causes." he joked. (Reply Ravenstone) "Devers It's me and you, if it's clear we're about to be discovered, we're making a break for it to try to guide them away from this room. Understood?" Getting low onto the ground she took aim with her phaser and knocked the stunned man out with relative ease. She looked quickly at the room numbering and moved towards room 237. Slowly she moved forward with a few extra from security checking the doorways using her phaser to quickly melt the door it frame in case anyone got the bright idea of jumping out unobstructed. Two men in uniform turned the corner up ahead in a dash. Seeing a firing line ahead of them one slid to the ground trying to reverse direction too quickly as the other attempted to duck into a shallow archway. Both were quickly dispatched their haste to reach the stairs proving their undoing. Janice looked round the hallway corner quickly and seeing no signs of resistance moved up to room 237. “You can open up now!” she shouted at the door as she pulled her phaser rifle off her back looking down the corridor to provide some covering fire as doors started to open up further down. Pulling the trigger twice she let a burst go trying to keep them inside the rooms before they had a chance to move out. (reply any in room 237) “Any time today...” she said firing a few more suppression shots off. (reply any in room 237) As the door clicked open the adjacent to her opened and an unmistakable clink chimed in her ear. She quickly pushed the person back opening the door. Another clink as the grenade rolled up to the wall beside the door. She took one step forward into the room closing her eyes shut waiting for the impact. The concussion grenade detonated sending her into the door frame and tumbling into the room. The walls shuddered sending loose debris scattering around and a thin smoky mist of dust and dirt kicked up into the air. Landing in the room she could feel her head ache as a ringing sounded in her ears. She quickly wiggled her fingers and toes and noting that she could she attempted to use an arm to get up to her knees but slipped back down as her sense of balance was completely shot. Opening her eyes the room spun and everything burred into a mess of colour. She closed her eyes an blinked trying to reset her vision more quickly. Devers recognized it as Ensign Hammerfield. “Cover me,” he said as he moved to open the door. Hammerfield was clearly impatient “Any time today…” she said over the sounds of phaser fire. As he opened the door, Hammerfield entered, aided by the force of a concussive grenade. Devers slammed the door shut, putting his against the door, to brace it. “Lanis, we need an emergency kit,” he called. “Sir, we either need to plan to fight our way out now, or we’re going to need a new plan B.” (Reply Carson, Sekal) Lanis knelt beside Ensign Hammerfield with a small emergency med kit. She could barely hear any voices around her but could feel the hypo injection go into her. Slowly she sat her self up and leaned against the wall. Pointing to her ears and she gently shook her head trying to tell people she coudlnt hear them. The concussion still had her a little dazed and she hadn’t realised that her inability to hear right now did not prevent her from actually speaking. Looking to her side she pulled her rifle back over to her and slowly strapped it back onto her person. Even impaired she was able to recognise her weapon. Slowly over the next ten minute or so, as the medicine kicked in, her vision became less blurred. Taking several deep breaths and fixation on a single point she tried to regain as much of her perception as she could. As she stared on it felt like her head was moving around on its own accord despite it actually remaining stationary. (reply Lanis iyw) The ringing started to subside a bit as well to a point she was able to hear people very faintly and required her to be looking directly at a person to read their lips to fill in the blanks of what she couldn’t make out. “Can she move?” “Sir, I’m a field medic at best. She took the brunt of the force of the concussive grenade. I just injected her with Tricordrazine and Cordafin. That combination should wake up a dead Denebian horned goat. She may need help, but she’ll be able to walk.” “Ill be fine,” she added to the end of that before grabbing the wall to her side for stability and getting to her feet. She tired to look as Lanis but it was obvious she was looking past her as the multiple version of her popped up in her field of view. Realising this Janice focused on the most defined version of her and not the ghostly versions that danced around. A slight adjustment and her gaze fell directly on Lanis, “Lets get a move on.” Reaching for her phaser in her holster her hand grasped it on the second attempt ready to draw it if need be. However she was very aware that her reaction times would be slower and making out targets harder. (Posted by Adam P) (Bajor, Ashalla - Temple Hotel, 2nd Floor - 2O, Lt. One thing he did remember clearly was his security detail, agents of speed, decisiveness and action removed him from the private room as soon as Commander Sekal had foolishly walked out into the corridor of chaos. Not really listening to what they were muttering to each other, he allowed himself to be swept up and ushered out of the rear-hidden- entrance to the room and down several flights of stairs. He knew they were close to the bottom of the hotel when they were set upon by two ambushers who were set about waiting for them. Horavei flung himself across the corridor as the 13, or was it 15? men obliterated the oncoming assailants. This interruption had probably saved the Captain, but not yet Captain's career. Arresting a foreign leader with little to no evidence would have had the entire of Bajor up in arms. Horavei found himself wondering on the man's motivations as he glided towards one of the rear Hotel service doors. It was that moment when he locked eyes with a man, he looked like a Hotel cook perhaps. There was a second, a second where he could have warned his guards, but instead he decided to accept what was happening. He knew it would. The beam grazed his arm and his head smashed onto a work surface as he fell to the ground. Dizzy. Sick. Pain. The man didn't last long once they knew he was there. Ushered into the back of a dark car, he heard the men around him shouting about going to a medical centre. This brought his senses back. "No. Take me to the Temple Square. I know where I am required." His voice was calm, patient and assured. No one questioned his decision. (Reply none needed) (Posted by Jono Bradley - Horavei Taelsi) (Bajor -- Temple -- CMO Lt. J.G. She was not a member of the crew and be escorted off. Mc Taggard hoped they would let her stay. Maybe her transfer had come through. That Vulcan officer obviously the CO. Seemed to know her. So it was a possibility she had been in the correct time and place. Then again as a newly graduated Ensign. Her name would be on Starfleet records. It was finger crossing time. She moved in a bit closer so only Penny could hear, “Everything is still really disorientating. If something goes down and you need to get out – go. Ill find someplace to hide and hunker down.” She knew that it would be difficult for her in her condition but would rather that everyone else made it out safely. (Bajor - Ashalla, Hotel High Hallack- Lobby - Ensign Janice Hammerfield 1912) He pointed at McTaggard. "You follow the counselor with Hammerfield. I don't know your name but appreciate the help." “Ensign Penny Mc Taggard sir.” Penny said nodding. Janice moved on keeping low with the surge of adrenaline making her movement slightly more stable. Her eyes would normally dart and scan the rooms looking for movement. It was pretty useless to her now consider everything looked like it was moving still, ”Just stay low and keep moving – cover to cover. Ill get you a drink when we get back Penny.” She knew there were more people about and that the uniforms were Starfleet but that was about it. (Reply: none needed) (Shuttle Astra- Passenger compartment- Ensign Janice Hammerfield - 1922) Janice rest her hand against the bulkhead of the shuttle for reference as she moved into a chair and lean back into it closing her eyes before the shuttle moved off. The concussion was bad when she was in control of her movements let alone a shuttle at speed – and she expected a lot of speed out of there. Looking to her side she seen the crew who helped her out, “Thanks for the assist. Can we go home now? ” (Reply: Alaya, Carson, Devers, Sekal ) ( Posted by:- Adam P) (Bajor, Ashalla, Hotel High Hallack (Temple Hotel), 2nd Floor, Room 217 - 2O, Lt. Carson Peters - 1901) He’d had no response from Saarsgard upon hailing, so either the man was ignoring him, like he’d ignored an order earlier or was busy fighting. Instead he turned his focus to getting the team out of this room and back on the ship so called in for an evac as Sekal then followed up his request with the Acting Security Chief. =^=Illuminar Acknowledges. Shuttle Evac to the Temple Hotel=^= Once that was dealt with Carson had turned to Dever’s and asked on Hammerfields condition. “Sir, I’m a field medic at best. She took the brunt of the force of the concussive grenade. I just injected her with Tricordrazine and Cordafin. That combination should wake up a dead Denebian horned goat. She may need help, but she’ll be able to walk.” Carson nodded, as Hammerfield grunted out, “Ill be fine,” He watched as she pulled herself to her feet and grabbed the wall for stability. Moving back towards the door he began laying out the plan of movement, splitting the team up with the aim of getting the Commander and Counsellor to the roof, ready for the Evac. He and Dever’s would lure any other assailants away if needed and if not would meet with the rest of the team on the roof. He looked over the team, “Ready? Let’s go.” He opened up the door just as he heard. "The cavalry has arrived, open up!" The door opened and Svend stepped inside before and his eyes found Sekal. "Time to get you out of here." The Vulcan looked around the group. "We will leave via the lobby. Lieutenant Peters have the shuttle land in the street." Carson looked back and forth at the two men, wasn’t sure whether Sekal had just purposefully ignored the plan he’d just put in place or was just choosing to override it. “Actua....” he began before the Commander continued talking, "Saarsgard and his unit will make sure our way is clear to exit." Sekal looked at Svend who nodded. "Aye sir." "Devers and Lanis will follow the group and guard our flank." (Reply Devers) “Ms. McTaggard please watch Ensign Hammerfield in case she needs assistance." “Yes Commander.” Penny said Then she moved to Hammerfield. ”Dont yee worry this lassie has yer back.” Carson watched as Hammerfields face scrunched up a little and moved closer to McTaggard, probably to tell her privately she didn’t need the help. He smiled slightly, trying not to think on why his plan had been so quickly rubbished. As they entered the hallway, Carson looked wilfully at the staircase which lead to the upper floors and eventually the roof. He didn’t like the idea of having the pilots landing shuttles in the narrow Bajoran streets where they could be set on easily. The roof would have been a much safer option considering the Hotel already had landing areas for VIP’s up there. He followed carefully within the pack, weapon at the ready, but thankfully there were no setbacks along the way. They made it to the lobby and Svend put a call in for the shuttles and then turned to the group to remind them of their two-by-two drills. Carson nodded but replied,”I’ll be staying on the ground to help coordinate. Get the Commander, Counsellor and Injured out as a priority.” before stepping away and heading over to the hotels main desk, eyes continuing to dart back and forth looking for enemy combatants. Bajoran security forces were now overwhelming the building and he needed to find their commander. “Who’s in charge?” He asked one of the near groups.
