Day to day power needs for ground facilities accomplished by two fusion reactors on base in a separate building. One is enough to power the whole base for normal operation. Reactors run on alternating schedules to allow for maintenance without disrupting power.

The base is also equipped with a subterranean matter/antimatter reactor for use Incase of orbital bombardment by hostile forces. Allowing use of force fields to protect the base. This warp core has multiple safety protocols in effect, including redundant antimatter shutoffs, and a warp core ejection system capable of propelling the core past Mars' natural satellites.

"Mars?" Keira said... "Starfleet wouldn't have accomplished anything without the Engineers, Technicians and Operations that put it all together. Rebuilding Utopia Planitia, a base on Mars itself, refitting an old Akira Class, the Mystique, an Oddyssy Class, the Republic and building two top of the line ships, the Illuminar and the Exeter, all thanks to the Engineers."- Excerpt from an Interview with Lt. Cmdr. Keira Merek 2O/CEO, USS Exeter. Stardate: 2446.01.29
