She lost both her parents in the camp and after spending a further year taking care of her two younger sisters and brother she left them in the care of one of the Prylars in the camp and escaped to join the Bajoran Resistance.

Starfleet Academy
After the liberation of Bajor Marto attended the Bajoran Medical and Science Institute where she obtained her Doctor’s degree. Basically this was on-the-job training given the state of Bajor at that time

Education: No formal education. She spent the first fourteen years of her life in the Rakantha Resettlement Camp.

Whilst the Bajoran Resistance would not turn her away, most of Marto’s first few years were spent as a Medic for the Rakantha Cell and this is where she learned the basics of her Medical Training. Eventually, given the fact that they could not keep up with their casualties Marto finally became a fully fledged member of the Resistance Cell and participated in a number of raids, although she was still classed as the main Medic for her cell.

No specific Medical History except for the fact that she suffered from malnutrition from her time in the Rakantha Camp onwards. Whilst this is not a problem at present it may well cause problems in her later life with regard to bone density and ongoing problems.

Marto is a crack shot with most hand weapons because of her past. She is also fairly proficient in hand to hand combat. If need be she has some ability to decode or crack various computer programs, but this can be a hit or miss depending on the program. Given her background, she is an excellent on the spot Doctor and a fairly competent surgeon.

Marto honestly hasn’t had much time for recreation and finds it hard to relax. Recreation hasn’t been something that has figured large in her life up until now. However she had recently discovered Springball and finds that she enjoys it.

Her parents were Lisal Dedra (father) and Vren Maru (mother). She has two sisters, Vren Dama and Vren Edra, and a brother, Vren Dora. She married when she was 20 to another member of the Rakantha Cell, Calan Daru, unfortunately it only lasted a few years. He has spent his years since the Cardassian occupation becoming a significant force in the Bajoran Government.
