Family and Background

*Margaret (Mother) co-owner of the family business, Impetuous Industries, from the family�s ranch in Texas on Earth.
*Edward �Easy Ed� Raschen (Grandfather) is a retired bounty hunter; co-owner of, and a consultant for Impetuous Industries.
*Franklin (Father) nothing else is known about him.
*Born (2371.12.06) Chance Raschen, he took the last name �Temerarious� to use as a pseudonym while he operated as a privateer for the Federation.

Pre-Starfleet History

Chance originally had no intention of joining Starfleet. Days after his graduation from Hardy-Knox University, the Cardassian-Federation War started and Chance signed-up to be a privateer in the Irregular Federation Forces. Chance was authorized to attack and destroy, capture, or to take as prize enemy vessels. He was also commissioned to provide logistical and combat support to special units behind enemy lines on some of the Federation�s more clandestine interests. He had also partaken in some of Starfleet�s larger, legitimate campaigns.
Within a week after the Cardassian-Federation War was officially declared at an end, the Irregulars were disbanded. Any Privateer and Mercenary that decided to join Starfleet or the Marines Corps were welcome to do so; and allowed �In appreciation of meritorious wartime service in the Irregular Federation Forces� to continue wearing the I.F.F. patch on their uniform. After the war, Chance continued serving the Federation as a freelancer performing the same kinds of operations that he did during the war. After several years Chance did join Starfleet, even though he became dubious as to the merits and stability of the Federation.

Medical History

He has scars from various types of puncture & stabbing wounds; plus phaser, chemical, and electrical burn scars on legs, arms, and torso. Chance never completely, emotionally recovered from the death of T�Lela, his Romulan wife.
A psychologist at the academy wrote in his dossier �In order to achieve crew objectives, subject repeatedly uses unorthodox methods that continually exhibit a unique resourcefulness, but sadly doesn�t appear to have any stable moral grounding whatsoever depending on the situation.�

Skills

Chance has a working knowledge of bounty hunter tactics; starship and urban warfare; cargo and troop transport; blockade running and smuggling; he is also an accomplished pilot and duelist.

General Notes

Impetuous Industries is a firm that does Shipping, Research & Development, Security, Property Recovery, and Consulting; and is contracted to several military and civilian shipyards and stations throughout the Federation.
The �Irregulars� were Privateers and Mercenaries hired by the Federation to augment Starfleet and the Marines Corps. There motto was �Auxiliary Power Redefined�. The identification patch worn by the Irregulars looked just like the Federation flag; except it had white stars on a red background with white boarders surrounded by white laurels and all on a blue field.
