History, Education and Skills
Family and Background :

Kasha's parents were a member of a colonization effort from Betazed onto the planet Liyon VI. At the time of departure, Keysha was not yet born. However, shortly after her parent's arrival on Liyon VI, Keysha made her way into the world. However, the composition of Liyon's atmoshphere and the concentration and configuration of various metals within its crust and mantle caused the generation of an electro magnetic field that seemingly was causing much damage to the telepaths brains. And so three years after the colonisation efforts had begun, the Betazoid colony was forced to relocate. However, during this process, Keysha managed to fall down a giant fissure in the rock, and her parents could not find her. Keysha managed to climb out just as she saw the transports leaving. The Betazoids had left so suddenly because they were all experiencing health problems and that had been accumulating for the past few years but had been proving fatal over the past few months. To this effect, they neglected to take much of their equipment with them, and this is what Keysha had at her disposal for the next sixteen years of her life.

Education

:

Keysha taught herself for the first nineteen years of her life. Then she was rescued from the planet because a nearby Starfleet vessel picked up a distress signal that she had sent out. After this she was taken back to Earth, where she entered the University of California at Berkeley and attained an engineering degree. She then applied to, entered and graduated from the Academy.

Pre-Starfleet History

:

Keysha spent the first nineteen years of her life living in isolation on the planet Liyon VI as she learned and taught herself how to keep things running. There had been several technical manuals left behind and as a result of not having much better to do with her time than carve rock and learn about the array of equipment that surrounded her, she became proficient in both matters. Her rescue took place when the USS Catalson discovered a distress signal that she had sent and came over to investigate. She was so glad to be rescued off the planet. But, the one thing that she had to learn was spoken language and social customs. They were some things that were totally lacking in her previous environment.

Starfleet History

:

Assigned to the USS Discovery on 2405.01.01 as an Engineering Officer.

Medical History

:

Keysha's telepathic powers have been affected by the electromagnetic field that she lived in as a child. It caused them not to be efficient. Actually they are more unreliable than reliable, for some unknown and unexplained medical reason, her mind now can process the telepathic waves that are in its direction, but it garbles it up when it interprets them. For example, if someone is sending a telepathic message to her, she will either receive it completely wrong, or completely misunderstand the context. Yet she believes herself to be correct. Further study into this matter is required.

Skills

:

Keysha is very talented when it comes to making something out of nothing. Given her past existence being alone on a strange planet, she has learned very well how to adapt mechanisms to adopt alternative functions. She is not afraid to try new things, and while she has a healthy regard for safety protocols, she also realizes that sometimes things don't get done unless there is a little risk involved. She is willing to take risks for herself if she believes wholeheartedly the outcome will be within the best interest of the group. Keysha is also telepathic, being a Betazoid, but because of her early living conditions her telepathic abilities are not always accurate.

Other Information
Hobbies :

Other than her work, Keysha enjoys carving things in stone, it was what she developed as her hobby while she was still stranded on Liyon VI. She is now quite proficient with it, and has a tendency to carve things as gifts for people that are most dear to her.

General Notes

:

Keysha is able to work alone very well. Her skills and learning about group dynamics is something that is developing. She spent all of her childhood alone and so as a result sometimes lacks in the social graces that most people would consider quite elementary. She is very good at reconstructing and tracing problems through circuits and making things work. However, her one downfall is paperwork. She does not understand entirely its reason for being and is as a result less than competent when filling it out.

Awards :

Admiral Bell threw her arms around the Ensign, "You don't have to be scared anymore, you don't have to be guilty anymore, you are not responsible for what that madman did to you.", she said to her quietly and for a moment longer, releasing her from the embrace. "It's going to take time, its going to be a toll... I will be right here, and I am not going anywhere."
