<p align="left"> Menelians family were 3rd generation (he was the 4th) born as poor rock farmers on the former 'glorious' colony turned cess-pool of Nimbus III.

<p align="left"> While a Starfleet vessel was doing survey work on the planet, one of them befriended an 18 Menelian for the duration of the mission. When it came time to leave, Men asked that he be given a chance to recieve schooling on Earth, or any other planet that had opportunities. The ships counsellor tested his IQ and other attrabutes, and found them to be well above Starfleet entrence exam minimums. The Counsellor then asked, and recieved permission from the CO and his family to take him to Earth, where he studied hard for two years with the counsellors family and many tutors before gaining admittance into Starfleet Academy. While he was there, he worked for the local museum in the geology department, since he had been living and breathing rocks from the day he was born. His foster family also put him in a ballet class to improve his ballence as a favor to his mother who worried that he would trip on everyone's toes.
