Kara was raised on the El-Aurian home world over 150 years ago, by her mother and father. After the Borg assault when she was 18 Kara fled with most of the El-Aurians. Kara has never seen her mother or father since the escape from the home world and has never learnt their fate. After the destruction of the home world as with most El-Aurians she drifted from planet to planet hoping to find some connection to the world. After numerous years on vessels Kara has grown to be a keen engineer and very talented. As opposed to most El-Aurians Kara turned her back on the Listening routes and traded her engineering skills for transport. This has given her over 120 years of experience as an engineer. After the renewed Borg threat and the assimilation of her friend at 2400, Kara joined Starfleet to gain a chance to strike back.

Kara is an amazing listener as all her people are. However unlike most she does not do it nor have the attentions involved. Kara prefers to live in the moment and do instead of talking. This attitude has lead to her become a well-rounded individual with numerous interests.
