Ut'Angi belongs to a minor Klingon house, with little political power. Her parents raised her on a d-7 battleship where they served the empire. While there she regularly dismantled machines to study the insides. When she couldn't put them back together she tended to smash the internal components, which led to the ships engineers teaching her how to repair the items

She had little formal education in her youth due to being raised on a starship. She was officially taught honour, combat and basic reading and writing but little more. The ships engineers unofficially taught her how the ship ran and by her adolescence she could rebuild almost any part of the ship.

after years on a starship it felt natural to join the Klingon defence force. Her application was accepted first time around and she went to join. This fell through when she met a male Klingon and disappeared with him for a few weeks. Returning with a broken heart she realised she had missed the start of the term, and the academy refused to let her in. Unwilling to return to her family as a failure she left the Klingon empire and joined the federation, where she hopes to gain enough honour to one day return home with her head held high with pride.

As a Klingon Ut'Angi has numerous minor injuries from ritual combats, but no serious ones that effect her duties.

Ut'Angi doesn't have the most creative mind, and is unlikely to invent new items. What she does have is a superb ability to fix shipboard equipment, fixing most items in a matter of minutes.
Her Klingon roots also leave her with strong hand to hand combat skills, both armed and unarmed.

Ut'Angi loves machines and even when off duty often spends time fixing problems here and there. When she is forced to leave engineering she often challenges a marine to a sparring match to keep her combat skills fresh.
