Wha-bang. Wha-bang. The warp core of the Spectre was back online but it had taken a lot longer than Remae had planned for. In the meantime, the group from Tellar had come and gone. The meeting seemed to go well and life on the Spectre was returning to normal. Starfleet were on their way to investigate the void and had ordered the Garallon to report to Earth as soon as possible. That meant, Remae had to repair the ship and replace the core. "Ensign Smith... gather all available engineering teams, we have to put that ship back together. I'll take the Engineering Pod and put their core back where it belongs.", he said. Longing that the workload would even stop. (Reply None) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (Pod One - FO/CEO, LT (Sg) Remae Ktell - 11:00) "That's it. Gently.", said the FO over the comm channel. He was lowering the core into its mounting chamber inside the Garallon. Inside, he could see crew in their EVA suits receiving the core and watching it closely as it was reinserted. A few more hours, they would have warp drive back online. (Reply None) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre - Ready Room - FO/CEO, LT (Sg) Remae Ktell - 15:00) "... that makes the complete list.", said Remae to his CO. "The cadets and a small number of crew have transfered to the Garallon. They will be getting underway at 1800.", the Bajoran scrolled through the PADD. "As for us, the Spectre she is back to fully operational capacity. Warp and impulse engines are online and the crew have enjoyed a few hours of R&R, save for the Engineering teams. I request they all get a lay-in tomorrow!", he said smiling. He was proud of them and their work in the past few hours. "One final bit of business, Starfleet have told us in their last update that the Fleet CO, Admiral Jopek, has new orders for us. They will be transmitted in the next update they are sending this evening.", he said finishing up his report. ~ What a day. I wondering if I can get a late start tomorrow? ~ (Reply from ALL) (Posted by Anthony Keen) ===================================================================== Mission: Stone Skipping Day: 1 Stardate: 2414.11.01 (USS Spectre - bridge - CSO Lt.jg. Kurt Palmer - 07:50) Kurt strolled out of the turbolift in typical fashion. Coffee in one hand a few PADDs in the other. He took a sip as he found himself seated in his usual seat, after dismissing his usual night shift counterpart. He grasped his hands behind him and stretched. Kurt had caught up on his rest after their previous mission and had decided to get an early start on the day. The bridge was quiet at this hour, perfect for some efficient focused work. His first order of business was checking the status of their partially fried sensor net. The science chief slid his fingers across his console to call up a general system schematic. ~72 percent.~ He frowned, there were supposed to be repair crews going all night. Perhaps things were worse than expected. Kurt started on a deck by deck analysis. When his department reported in they would need together to work on calibrating the newly repaired systems. --- 4 decks into making the chore list Kurt heard the turbolift doors. He looked up to see one of his colleagues arrive on the bridge. "Morning." He nodded. (Reply, anyone who wants to be morning bridge buddies!) ((Post by Cody)) (USS Spectre - bridge – Security Officer, Lieutenant (J.G.) Jo Smith - 07:55) Jo glanced at the console as she ran another scan over her tactical system for the hundredth time since they had void. She wanted to make sure that nothing would go surprisingly wrong. ~Okay that’s sorted. I’ll check the phaser emitter arrays~ She noticed the turbolift door open and that Palmer came in and her console beeped as the diagnostic program beeped. "Morning." She looked over at Palmer and smiled as she stifled a yawn. “Good morning to you to. You look very awake and happy this morning.” (Reply Palmer) (Reply Palmer, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - bridge - CSO Lt.jg. Kurt Palmer - 07:56) “Good morning to you too." Came a reply from the security officer across the way. "You look very awake and happy this morning.” She added. "Happy to be well rested and in this reality, after our last excursion." Kurt replied back. (Reply, smith) "Are your systems up yet? Mine..." He paused to glance at his console. "They've been better." (Reply, smith) ((Post by Cody)) (USS Spectre - bridge – Security Officer , Lieutenant (J.G.) Jo Smith - 07:59) "Happy to be well rested and in this reality, after our last excursion." Kurt replied back. Jo grinned and nodded. “Yeh it will be good have a rest and have a few days off.” "Are your systems up yet? Mine..." "They've been better." “Yeh things are a bit off. I am having to check the whole system. I would rather spend a bit more time getting it right now then something going massively wrong later.” (Reply Palmer) “Yeh this may take a while but it’s not like I have anything else to do.” She said with a smile. (Reply Palmer) (Reply Palmer, any) (USS Spectre - bridge - CSO Lt.jg. Kurt Palmer - 08:01) Lieutenant Smith confirmed her systems where in a state as well. "I would rather spend a bit more time getting it right now then something going massively wrong later.” "Absolutely true. Guess we'll all be at it all day." He replied raising of his to-do list PADD. “Yeh this may take a while but it’s not like I have anything else to do.” Lieutenant Smith smiled. "I guess that's true." Kurt agreed "And I don't believe Geneva has much to offer in the way of entertainment anyhow." As the science chief, Kurt found he would rarely leave the ship anymore when they docked. (Reply, smith, any) ((Post by Cody)) (USS Spectre - bridge – Security Officer, Lt.jg. Jo Smith - 08:05) "I guess that's true." "And I don't believe Geneva has much to offer in the way of entertainment anyhow." Jo gave him a quick glance. ~Hmm must not get off the ship much~ She then looked at him. “I would disagree with that. Geneva has a lot to offer if you know where to look.” She paused before carrying on. “Why don’t we go to the station once we got this sorted and have a wonder around?” (Reply Palmer) (Reply Palmer, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - bridge - CSO/2O Lt.jg. Kurt Palmer - 08:07) “I would disagree with that." Lieutenant Smith replied to the science chief's allegations. "Geneva has a lot to offer if you know where to look." Kurt looked up again towards the security section "Why don’t we go to the station once we got this sorted and have a wonder around?” "Well, certainly!" He smiled. Kurt wasn't quite expecting this response, but realized it may be good to get off the ship once in a while, not to mention mingle with the crew. Truth be told he hadn't spent much time getting to know the crew. Especially since his former Mithrandir crew mates slowly transferred off-ship. He had had buried himself in his work since he started his new duty station. (Reply, smith) A blip on his console caught his eye. "Oh, and it looks like we have a briefing this morning." He tapped the console before looking back up. "If you'll excuse me, I'll have a few items to get in order before then." He collecting his belongings and moved toward the turbolift. (Reply, smith iyw) "We should both have a good grasp on our workloads by this afternoon. I'll touch base then." He said looking back. (Reply, smith, any) ((Post by Cody)) (USS Spectre - Bridge - FO/CEO, LT (Sg) Remae Ktell - 09:40) "Docking complete.", said Ensign Smith. The Spectre had arrived at her docking port inside Starbase Geneva. Admiral Jopek's orders were short and to the point, as normal for the Vulcan Fleet Commanding Officer, 'Get back to Geneva'. The message made it clear that it was to be as fast as they could and the Spectre complied, traveling as quick as their warp engines could take them. Upon arrival, Captain T'Vhor and Lt Remae were to report to his Office on Geneva, all other crew could stand down and for once make use of off duty time. "All hands, this is the First Officer. Docking is complete, all departments, dismissed.", he said over the comm. While docked, most systems would be powered down, repairs made and any upgrades that were needed, completed. The Spectre had barely docked when the main turbolifts opened from all sides. Starbase crew members poured in, dozens of them and one made contact with the CO. They had a brief conversation before everyone was ordered to clear the Bridge. The CO and FO went traveled together in the turbolift. Once connected to a starbase, the Spectre's turbolift system became a part of the base, you could get from anywhere to anywhere without the need to change or walk. Given the choice, Remae would have preferred to walk, but he wasn't so he didn't. Next stop would be Jopek's Office. It had been a while since Remae had seen Jopek. It was probably during his last demotion and dismissal from the service. Reduced from Captain to civilian and then taken back again as Ensign. Happy times! (Reply from All, come on, have some fun!) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (Starbase Geneva - Walkway Nine, Level One - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 09:45) So, Jopek was now involved! Clearly, something had occurred that had escalated the threat level in regards the fleet, beyond the closed loop that had existed beforehand. T'Vhor was somewhat on his guard now and cautious due to what that might all mean. His secure line to Admiral Alexander now yielded only a terminated comms message, but the Captain himself felt sure that although his calls were apparently going nowhere, someone, somewhere was well aware of them. ~Where is Alexander?~ With the ship now docked and the maintenance crew having come aboard, her Captain and First Officer traversed Geneva's walkways with their own thoughts on the matter meandering within their brains, and heading as they now were to the Admirals office where no doubt they would glean a little more information as to just why the Spectre had been ordered back to port with such haste, at a time when their foe was seemingly within their grasp. The recent debrief of the remaining Garallon Cadets had revealed 39-Sierra to be the logical destination of Madon and her cohorts aboard the Tempest, if indeed they were even still aboard the Tempest, so why had they been recalled to Geneva? It didn't make sense, but then, when did Starfleet top brass decisions ever make any sense? The Captain glanced sideways to Remae, who himself seemed pensive and deep in thought now. Then raising an eyebrow, he returned his gaze to the door ahead of them, the name plate upon it dictating that they had arrived at a point whereby answers would soon be forthcoming. 'Fleet Commander - Admiral Jopek' The Captain had been in this room before of course when the previous plot against Geneva had been realised many years beforehand. It seemed ironic now that the very same person that had caused him to be here at that time, was instrumental in his presence now. Sulia Madon, their regular 'Fly in the Ointment' Stopping at the door the Captain straightened his tunic with both hands and then knocked upon the door, a smell of adhesive assailing his senses to indicate that the nameplate adorning it had only recently been affixed. Jopek was now on Geneva, a fact that spoke volumes. Finally, it would seem that someone was now taking the parasite threat seriously... (Reply Ktell, IYW. Jopek) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre – Sickbay, CMO’s Office – CMO, Andrew Williams - 09:45) Andrew leaned back in his chair and stretched his tired muscles. He had given the staff leave and was the only doctor working at the moment. He knew how hard the last mission had been and he wanted them out enjoying themselves before they were put on a new mission. He sat up right as the comm screen in front of him beeped as an incoming appeared. His tired frowned changed into a grin as he saw the face that appeared in front of him. ~Ow Jay what are you doing here?~ =^= Hi Andrew how are you. Still messing about with leaches and maggots? =^= His eyes dancing over to Ozy the Osmotic eel which was living in a clear tank in the corner of the office before looking back and stuck his tongue out at her. “Well its better then you playing with scalpels and your wood work tools.” She grinned back at him. =^=I’m here on Geneva sorting out the Serenities’ assignment with Haz-Sup flotilla=^= Andrew nodded. “I heard that you were working with them.” She nodded. =^=Yeh and Alice is here with the MRD Lily Sloane=^= He paused for a moment. “Alice! What’s that grease monkey doing on that floating dry dock?” =^= You can ask her yourself, we are getting together for lunch and though that you might want to come along and we can all catch up=^= “That sounds great I can’t wait. I’ll…..” There was a knock at his door and the duty nurse stuck her head in to the office. “Sorry to disturb you Doctor Williams. We have a patient coming in from Deck 6.” Andrew nodded. “I’ll be there.” As the nurse headed back into sickbay he looked back a Jay who was grinning at him through the screen. =^= Go and do your work. We will hope to see you at lunch if you can make it=^= Andrew gave her a smile as the screen went blank as he headed into sickbay. He looked over as he heard the whine of the transporter as two people materialised on the biobeds. The nurse turned and looked at him in surprised. “I was told it was one patient.” Andrew headed towards the new patients. “We will have none if we don’t get started.” (Reply any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Deck 6 - Security Station Gamma - Ens Will Frost - 09:50) It was business as usual for Will Frost, he had an early morning workout, then a simulated sparring match, and now he was back on shift. Just another day for someone who was trying to keep his mind sharp, his body chiseled, and to keep himself from the self doubt that crept in his mind not to long ago. What Will didn't know, was that his routine, his life, his identity, everything was going to change. Everything was going to be different. Everything he knew was going to cease to be, who he thought he was, who he was going to be, his existence would all change, in the blink of an eye. All because of a secret, a secret from a bad day, many years ago. Before the civil war got truly heated, before the time jump, before Will Frost's Starfleet career even existed. A secret that would serve as another transporter cautionary tale. A secret forged on the machinations of a mad man and the efforts of a young ensign to prove his worth. Brain Scans, transporters, and a copy stored in the system. Thoughts, memories, emotions, brain patterns. Caught in the transporter banks, saved, looking for a home. Scan after scan, scrub after scrub, yet it couldn't be found, a glitch in the system. A fail safe put in place by a devious mutineer, in case things got rough, yet a poor ensign caught in it's snares. The ensign would go one to become a captain, the copy of that ensign, stored away. Simple data, nothing else. Yet waiting the moment for the transport to be complete. Will Frost's story was coming to an end, another story was beginning. Who though, that would be the question. It was a freak accident, one that was unseen, unexpected. The repair of the console should have been routine. Will had done it many times. Anyone with basic training could do it, so there was no need to call in an OPS officer or engineer. Though the technical stuff wasn't really his strong suit, he was trying to improve. A simple mistake with the repair equipment and the wiring underneath the console began to spark. "Oh crud," Will said knowing what was going to happen, the console was going to overload, sparks were going to fly, and a small explosion may be possible. "Everyone stand back!" He shouted. There would be no time for him to move, he knew it, so he positioned himself infront of the console to take most of the feedback. With a quick medical transport he would be fine and back up in no time, just some burns. Cosmetic repair would fix that. He didn't however calculate for the force of the blast. As the small explosion happened, the concussive force jettisoned him backwards as he flew head first into the wall. The trauma to the head, with the electrical surge, it would fry the synapses in his brain, in well a rather strange way. Almost like a corrupted save file, that perhaps a load from a previous point in time could fix. His closed, everything began to fade. The rest of the personnel quickly called for the emergency medical transport. It would be too late. Will was fading away, fading fast. Soon he would be gone. The transporter read the pattern, life signs still there in the body, yet no impulses coming from the brain The brain pattern was corrupted, damaged, missing. It was at this moment the transporter happened to pick up the glitch, the simple data, an afterthought, and anomaly. It was a brain pattern. The transporter didn't know if it was from the original source, but it compensated. The fail safe kicked in. It had a brain pattern without a body, and a body pattern without the brain scan. It merged the two. Will's body materialized in sickbay, and the doctors went to work. It would take them roughly 30 minutes to patch him back up, repair the burns and alleviate the head trauma. But the brain, it was working just fine, no real problems, except one. Who was it that would soon wake up. (reply none) (posted by Will Banowsky) (Starbase Geneva - Office of the FLTCO - Admiral Jopek - 09:59) The doors open and in walked the Commanding Officer of the Spectre and his First Officer. Jopek had summoned them and since they approached Geneva, he had been preparing. "Captain, Lieutenant come in.", said the Vulcan. Typically Vulcan, typically to the point and not for wasting time. "Firstly, the Spectre is undergoing a refit. The engineering teams are running a crash configuration change to interceptor.", Jopek thought to himself for a moment and then added, "I think this will be the first time a Spectre class has been modified in such a way." "Time is of the essence, Captain and I know you know why.", he looked over at the Bajoran First Officer. He looked lost and that is what the Vulcan had expected. "Captain T'Vhor, before I assign the mission of the Spectre, I want you to tell me everything you know about the USS Tempest and Sulia Madon.", he said simply. The Fleet CO remained seated as he waited for the response of Captain T'Vhor. (Reply from T'Vhor, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (Starbase Geneva - Office of the FLTCO - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 10:02) T'Vhor paused, for the second time in less than ten minutes, the Admirals query hanging in the air and awaiting a response. Given the nature of their previous mission and the ramifications thereof, nobody, and that included the highest of the high within Starfleet, could be trusted beyond all doubt. Indeed, until now, Alexander had been the only person apart from one or two others that the Captain could trust implicitly, and to reveal all that he knew to someone that might possibly be compromised, was unthinkable. T'Vhor was in a quandary indeed. Jopek, stern faced and stoic as he invariably was, looked to the Spectre CO with an expectant gaze. If he knew anything at all about Madon and her cohorts aboard the Tempest, or indeed anything about the covert nature and dealings of the last week, then he wasn't letting on at this particular moment in time. “Sir, respectfully. Before I give any further information, may I ask as to the welfare and whereabouts of Admiral Alexander?”, asked T'Vhor, eager now to ascertain whether or not the Admiral was above board so to speak, and curious as to why the only secure line he had been able to rely upon into Starfleet, had now been terminated. (Reply Jopek) The Captain remained unphased, his expression not changing in the slightest at the Admirals apparent sidestep. Right now, Jopek's rank and credentials stood for nothing, given the level of incursion that the parasitic takeover may already have reached within Starfleet itself. Needless to say, Remae remained silent and still at his CO's side, evidently preferring to maintain a neutral stance right now as T'Vhor himself gave a hypothetical query in response to the Admirals last answer. “Sir, I understand your reluctance to discuss Alexander further, but you must also understand my predicament.”, said T'Vhor. “Perhaps if I were to mention the name, Sulia Madon, and then ask that you allow me to examine the base of your neck, then you might understand my need to know what has become of Admiral Alexander?”, added T'Vhor. (Reply Jopek) The Captain nodded, and then continued on. Jopek was a Vulcan after all and it seemed that Logic was clearly still in evidence on Geneva, and as he stood to pull down the neck of his uniform, the Captain examined intently. Then satisfied that Jopek himself was apparently still 'Jopek', he began in earnest. “Sir, I believe that we have a situation evolving of the gravest importance”, began T'Vhor, “Sulia Madon, it would seem has resurfaced and has taken control of the USS Tempest, which is now en route to Starbase 39-Sierra. Indeed, by all intents of purpose, I believe that she has already arrived and perhaps departed again”, he added. (Reply Jopek, IYW) “At my own order, and under guidance from Admiral Alexander, the Spectre deviated from its normal course and heading soon after leaving Starbase 19, eight days previous. Our destination, the Tsinkada Void on the edge of Tellarite space. Once there, we encountered the missing academy vessel, Garallon, her crew all but absent and the ship cast adrift into the Tellarite Shadows.”, said the Captain. "From there, the decision was made to enter the void to search for the missing vessel, upon which we were able to secure a number of Cadets that had remained undetected from whoever was responsible for the crews disappearance" (Reply Jopek, IYW) "A thorough debrief revealed the following, Sir", said the Captain, pausing then to gather his own thoughts. "The Garallon had been on routine training operations in the Sigma Draconis system, whereby she was then detoured to Pellar Zel in order to take aboard an ambassadorial delegation. A delegation which we have now ascertained included, a female that we believe to be one Sulia Madon", said the Captain. "The ship was quickly commandeered and an apparently bogus distress call made for assistance, a call which drew the USS Tempest to her aid", he added. (Reply Any, IYW) The Captain continued on... "After procuring the Garallon crew to the Tempest, the decision was made to destroy the Garallon via the self-destruct, which was then halted with a warp core ejection by four Cadets that had managed to avoid detection before the ship entered the void. The Tempest then departed having left the Garallon and her remaining crew for dead" (Reply Jopek) NRPG: Room for more plot development here... RPG: "There is one other matter that I feel should be brought to your attention, sir", said T'Vhor, piquing Jopek's attention once again. (Reply Jopek, IYW) "I believe that Sulia Madon has another agenda in mind. An agenda that if proved correct might change the make-up of not only the Federation and its allies, but every other quadrant also" (Reply Jopek) "I am of the opinion, sir, that Madon is attempting to locate and reassemble the device we know as 'Messiah', and that via an entity as yet unknown, she has managed to procure the first part of said device", said the Captain, his eyebrow rising in a typical Vulcan manner... (Reply Jopek, Ktell, IYW) (Posted by Alan) (Starbase Geneva - Office of the FLTCO - Admiral Jopek - 10:15) T'Vhor took a moment to reply to the Admiral's question regarding the mission ahead. “Sir, respectfully. Before I give any further information, may I ask as to the welfare and whereabouts of Admiral Alexander?”, asked the Captain of the Spectre. Jopek raised an eyebrow but he indulged the Captain. "His exact current whereabouts are unknown but after putting together his final movements, it appears he has ordered a ship to take himself after the USS Tempest directly.", he said dispersing the facts that he wanted known at this time. “We don’t know where that is. The Admiral has covered his tracks expertly. Probably so we cannot follow him.”, he said and T’Vhor continued. After having his neck checked for the parasite, Jopek allowed the Captain to continue to debrief his mission. The Fleet CO listened, carefully. "Thank you Captain.", was all Jopek said and he sat back in his chair. What happens now concerned him greatly and the mission he had arranged for the Spectre. He has the complete logs of the Spectre. He knew what he needed to know. The conversation moved to discuss the restoration of the device known as the Messiah. "We know very little about the device but given that Madon is assembling it is enough for us to attempt to stop her.", he said and then added, "That is exactly what your new orders are." "Captain, Starfleet has begun retrofitting all Starships, Starbases and facilities with detection routines that scan for the parasites protrusions from the neck.", he said and the viewscreen winked on. "Geneva is quite clean but I appreciate your caution.", he added before turning to the screen. It was a map of the Federation and in the corner, around a small sector of Federation Space, was a round red circle. "Our information from what we've scanned thus far.", he explained and the circle was centred on the Starbase 39-Sierra. "We lost contact with the starbase and we can assume that the Tempest is infected as well but we have no idea of her current location. As starbases cannot move, that is where you are going.", he added sitting down. "Find out what is happening on the Starbase, Find the Tempest and find Admiral Alexander. Stop Madon and her plans by any means necessary.", he added before passing over a PADD to the Commanding Officer. "The Spectre's new interceptor configuration will raise her top speed to warp 9.8 and she will sustain that speed for extended periods. However, the Spectre will suffer in other departments as a consequence, it’s all on the PADD.", said the Admiral and for a moment, he looked over at the First Officer. "Captain T'Vhor, the Admiralty is assigning the mission over to your First Officer who will become Mission Commanding Officer for the duration. The Spectre is your ship, you are in Command but the mission specifics and what happens from now is under the prevue of your First Officer.", he said unattached, unemotional, unapologetic. As usual. Typical. "I trust you both can work with that arrangement?", he said looking at the moment and it was clear, the order was given and no debate was going to be entered into. It wasn't a question. No answer was needed. "Mr Remae, you have people inside Starfleet Command who do not want you in that uniform, they do not want you in Starfleet, they do not even want you in the Alpha Quadrant, however, some of us believe that despite your history, you can redeem yourself.", Jopek looked implicit, rigid, unfeeling, uncaring. He looked at the both of them. "You are both dismissed.", he said ending the meeting, even more abruptly than usual, more than a Vulcan, more of a Fleet Commanding Officer who didn’t care. The look of shock and the angry departure of the Bajoran made noise that could be heard as he left. Archaic language wasn't Jopek’s strong suit but outside, he picked up a few words of old Human text that would have made other emotional beings blush. A few moments passed and T'Vhor left as well. Leaving Jopek alone again. No words passed between them as the doors closed. (Reply from T'Vhor, Ktell, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (Starbase Geneva - Outside the Office of the FLTCO - FO/CEO, Lt Remae Ktell - 10:30) It went flying and it was graceful, a one in a million kick. It flew and it was the perfect angle, over and up it went, over the balcony and down, down, down to be lost at the bottom of the promenade. Remae was furious and the fury wasn't stopping. He turned back to face the Admiral's Office. Was he going back in? Could he take the Admiral with a punch, he thought it could work and he began to walk towards the door when from behind someone yelled, "Hey, you, is this your trash-can?" Whoever it was was floating on a kind of anti-grav sled with the contents of the bin on him. He looked less than impressed with the Bajoran. "Um.", was all he said, the anger disappearing as quickly as it had flared. The bin's new owner looked over at the Bajoran and then at the Admiral's Office and then back at the Bajoran. He made a harsh grump of a sound and departed. Perhaps he knew how the Admiral bothered people. Captain T'Vhor appeared from the Office and walked over. Remae was now looking over that balcony, lost in emotion, lots in a lifetime's worth of anger, regret and of different lifetimes that he lost to end up where he was. He looked out again, in silence. (Reply from T'Vhor, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre - Sickbay - ???? - 10:30) The sickbay was a buzz around the patient. His burn scars were healing and the dermal re generators were doing their job. He would be fine, he would live. There was a moment were it seemed he wouldn't pull through, his brain signs were weak as transport began, but when he materialized in sick bay it is almost as if they repaired themselves. It was an anomaly for sure and the post transport and pre transport scans didn't quite match up. In fact they seemed indicate a different crew member, one who was no longer on the Spectre. One who made a nice Starfleet career for himself. The patient sat up and looked around, the last thing he remembered was being on the USS Phantom, in someone else's body, trying to fix what was wrong. He had been in the body of Commander Steve Furrows, during an attempted take over of the Spectre. They finally had over taken the usurpers and he had figured out how to get everyone back to their right body. It involved a transport of brain scans. The original back to the original, the interloper back to the interloper. It would fix the problem. The memories would go back, the consciousness would go back. He would be back to being in his own skin. The fact that he was back in the Spectre's sickbay was a good sign. The last thing he remembered was initiating the transport on himself, to go back "home." Yet he felt off, like the body wasn't his. The muscle memory wasn't right, he felt more muscular, heavier. He looked down at his arms, the hands were different, the scars on the hands were different. The uniform sleeve indicated yellow, he wore red. Something wasn't right. But he recognized one person, the Chief Medical Officer, Andrew Williams. Though Andrew seemed older than he remembered, and there was an extra pip on his collar. It showed him as a commander. ~Doc is only a Lieutenant Junior Grade, something seems off~ "Hey Doc," he spoke in the direction of the CMO. "Umm, where am I, did it work, am I back in my own body? I feel off?" (Reply Williams) He wasn't in his own body. Of course he shouldn't exist. The man, the consciousness, the being inhabiting this body, William Frost's body, wasn't William Frost. It was the transporter duplicate of an original. A glitch in the system. Stored in the Spectre memory banks waiting to be returned to a body, and complete again. The man in the bed didn't know that. At that point in time he thought he was the real deal. Ensign Senior Grade Will Alexander had returned to his original body on Stardate 2406.11.13. He would then be promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade and second officer of the Spectre. Will Alexander would then move on as First Officer of the USS Dennison, become a member of the JAG Corp, eventually become First Officer of the USS Mithrandir-A, then her Commanding Officer. He would get promoted to Captain Alexander and CO of the USS Mithrandir-B before returning to the JAG corp once again. That Will Alexander was the original, the real deal, in his own body. Yet sitting on the table, in the body was Ensign Senior Grade Will Alexander, Chief Operations and Conning Officer of the USS Spectre. Third Officer under the command of Captain Remae K'Tell, First Officer Shane Schofield, and Second Officer Pierce Horatio Orde. This Will Alexander didn't know yet the sad truth. He was and would never be the real deal. He was a copy a glitch, keeping a dead man's body alive. William Frost was for all intents and purposes was dead. His brain, his mind, belonged to someone else. The muscle memory of a professional fighter with the mind of someone not trained to use it. At that moment a new transporter horror story was born. A new transporter duplicate was born. Unlike Thomas Riker however, this Will Alexander would have to live on in the body of someone else. "Seriously Doc, did I make it home? Or am I still in the body of Commander Furrows? This is the Spectre right, I made it off the Phantom right?" (Reply Williams) (reply Williams, any) (posted by Will Banowsky) (Starbase Geneva - Outside the Office of the FLTCO - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 10:31) Jopek had seemed unusually antagonistic during the meeting, if indeed a Vulcan could ever be antagonistic. Either way it seemed out of character and Remae himself, not being particularly gifted with the calm of Vulcan logic had apparently not taken it well, leaving somewhat abruptly in the wake of the Admirals comment. The Captain had watched him leave, then he turned back to the Fleet CO, a number of questions already formulating in his mind but ultimately going unsaid. It wasn't the time right now and, the Captain had felt it prudent not to query the Admiral any further, offering only a nod of acknowledgement before leaving himself. Entering into the corridor, Remae was still boiling at Jopek's earlier remarks, his gaze fixed now upon a crewman hovering not six feet in front of him offering him a metallic trash can! T'Vhor couldn't quite make out the exchange but the Bajoran had moved off quickly, seemingly not wishing to entertain the floating retriever before him, before stopping at the deck railing looking down onto the promenade deck. The Captain approached to stand beside him, at first saying nothing at all, then after careful consideration he made the only query that he felt reasonable under the current circumstances. "Would this be a good time to discuss what just happened, Lieutenant. Or would you rather address this at a later time?" (Reply, Ktell) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Sickbay – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 10:34) Andrew stood between the bio-beds and looked at his new patients. On the one side he was happy that they had survived the treatment and were alive and breathing. The first was a crewman who had been not fast enough to get out of the way. He was going to be okay once he had woken up from his drug induced sleep. He looked over at Frost who was also asleep. He had was very worried about him. Physically he was going to be okay but as he had arrived his neurological patterns had been widely out of sync far more then what he would he expected someone with his injuries. He had expected Frost to be brain dead but he was not. He would have to keep a very close eye on him. "Hey Doc," "Umm, where am I, did it work, am I back in my own body? I feel off?" Andrew looked over at Frost who was on the bio-bed. “I am not suppressed. You just take it easy don’t rush anything.” Seriously Doc, did I make it home? Or am I still in the body of Commander Furrows? This is the Spectre right, I made it off the Phantom right?" frown ghosted across his face before he got it under control. Furrows, the Phantom. Frost was not even there. The only person who was body swapped with Furrows was Will Alexander. ~What the hell is going on~ He looked down at the body which did not belong to the mind. “Yeh you are safe. Your back in Spectre and not in the body of commander Furrows.” (Reply Alexander) “I need you to stay here a bit longer so that I can run a few scans.” (Reply Alexander) “Okay just lie back for a few moments as the scans run.” He gave Alexander a reassuring smile as he stepped across sickbay so that he was sure that Alexander could not hear him as he tapped his comm badge. “Williams to T’Vhor.” (Reply T’Vhor) “I need you to come to sickbay I have a situation with Ensign Frost.” (Reply T’Vhor) He nodded to himself as the channel closed as he turned and headed back to Alexander. (Reply T’Vhor, Alexander, any) (Posted by Robbie) (Starbase Geneva - Outside the Office of the FLTCO - FO/CEO, Lt Remae Ktell - 10:35) "Would this be a good time to discuss what just happened, Lieutenant? Or would you rather address this at a later time?", said the CO outside the office of the Admiral. It snapped Remae back to reality. "I am not sure you want to spend hours discussing my history with the Admiralty, Captain.", he said looking towards the turbolift. Did he really want to revisit when he stole a ship to come to a different dimension and Starfleet's response to that incident by locking the file and classifying the incident. Remae drop from grace followed quickly thereafter. There was another Remae out there, right now, in this timeline but that also had been classified, not that he hadn't tried to find out more. "Besides, I am afraid most of it has been classified. So I can't discuss it.", he said moodily, waiting by the turbolift door. He thought about what else had occurred. He'd been made Mission Commanding Officer and they had their orders. Looking at the PADD, he saw the timeline of the upgrade of the Spectre. "Geneva thinks they can turn the Spectre into an interceptor within two weeks, Captain. I'll see if I can improve upon that.", he said as the lift arrived to return to the Spectre. (Reply from T'Vhor, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre - Sickbay – Ensign Will Alexander? - 10:36) “Yeh you are safe. Your back in Spectre and not in the body of commander Furrows.” "That's a relief. Though I feel odd, I don't know how to explain it. I feel like I am not quite home. Anyways, am I free to go to my quarters?" “I need you to stay here a bit longer so that I can run a few scans.” "Umm alright, I guess. That makes sense, wouldn't want there to have been any hiccups with the transporter. What do you need me to do? “Okay just lie back for a few moments as the scans run.” Will laid back down as he waited for the scans to start up. His uniform was a different color, but it made sense, furrows could have changed his clothes. Though looking at his hands, they just didn't match up to his hands. They were slightly larger, and more scarred. As soon as the scan was over he would try and get a mirror. He missed his wonderful Mediterranean face. He couldn't wait to look at his hazel eyes again. Because it meant he was no longer trapped in someone else's body. He noticed that the doctor went off to a corner for a bit and then came back. "Hey Doc," Will said, "Some umm, how the hell did you go from Lieutenant Junior Grade to Commander in the amount of time I was stuck on the Phantom." (reply Williams) "Seriously though, what's the scan say, am I good to go, I'd like a shower, my uniform smells and looks kinda crispy. Did Furrows have an accident in my body, is that why I feel off?" (reply Williams) (reply Williams, any) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre - Sickbay – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 10:40) Andrew was trying to get this thoughts together as he walked over to Alexander. "Hey Doc," "Some umm, how the hell did you go from Lieutenant Junior Grade to Commander in the amount of time I was stuck on the Phantom." Andrew shook his head. “It took a bit of time.” "Seriously though, what's the scan say, am I good to go, I'd like a shower, my uniform smells and looks kinda crispy. Did Furrows have an accident in my body, is that why I feel off?" He hated giving people bad news but that was part of the job. There was always bad stuff that came with doing the good stuff. “Okay Will. I’ll explain what’s going on to the best of my ability.” He paused before going on. “What is the last think that you remember?” (Reply Alexander) “ Okay what stardate do you think it is?” He pulled his mind back. ~So it was about 2406.11.12~ (Reply Alexander) Andrew nodded. “Well it is 2414.11.01. It’s about 8 years since that happened.” (Reply Alexander) He paused again giving Will time to digest this information. “And you are not in your own body. It is of Ensign Williams Frost.” (Reply Alexander) (Reply Alexander, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Sickbay - Ensign Will Alexander - 10:42) “Okay Will. I’ll explain what’s going on to the best of my ability.” The doctor paused before going on. Never a good sign. “What is the last thing that you remember?” "Well we were on the Phantom, we figured out how the Phantom Crew had switched bodies with us. They used some sort of Neural Transporter, something like that. The science is a bit iffy. But I figured out a way to jerry rig the process and transport our mental states, brain patterns what not, back into our bodies. Last thing I remember is hooking up the neural transporter to my head and then having the transport start. It should have sent me back to my own body." “ Okay what stardate do you think it is?” "2406.11.13, that is the Stardate. I could be off by a day. Being in someone else's body can do that." Andrew nodded. “Well it is 2414.11.01. It’s about 8 years since that happened.” "That is impossible Doc. The transport should have had no issue. Unless my body was in a coma for the last 8 years. Which it wasn't. Furrows was awake and responsive at the time. I remember that much." He paused again giving Will time to digest this information. “And you are not in your own body. It is of Ensign William Frost.” "What are you talking about Doc. William Frost? Someone bring me a mirror!" A nurse nearby heard Will's panicked shout and quickly brought a mirror used to show patients whose surgery may have left some slight disfiguring. Will grabbed the mirror panicking. He looked in the mirror and to his shock and horror he was still looking out of someone else's eyes. But how could it be Will Frost's eyes. Frost was six years his junior. He knew Frost. Frost's family were friends of his. Frost was still 20 and in school in Oklahoma, not Starfleet. But if what the Doctor said was true, that eight years had passed. Well it could make sense. But the Doctor didn't look eight years older. Two years older at the most. Not eight. "How can it be eight years. How could I have disappeared for eight years. It doesn't make sense. I mean was I declared dead. Was I trapped in the transporter all this time. No that makes no sense. Sure Furrows' tech was not standard and could have been glitchy, but the transporter would have discovered the pattern right. Doc, where is my body, what happened to my body?" (reply Williams) (Reply Williams, Any) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre - Sickbay – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 10:46) Andrew took a deep breath as questions poured out of Will. Take a breath we will find out what had happened.” He tried to give Will a reassuring smile. “Your body is fine Will.” He paused trying to explain this clearly. “Will eight years ago you returned to your own body from Furrows. I checked the database. He is a Captain in the JAG corp on earth based at Star Fleet Headquarters in San Francisco.” (Reply Alexander) (Reply Alexander, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Sickbay – Ensign Will Alexander- 10:47) "Your body is fine Will.” He paused trying to explain this clearly. “Will eight years ago you returned to your own body from Furrows. While on Earth he was being groomed and trained, to come back for this role, to be the JAG commander for Starbase Geneva. What that meant was rather than prosecuting cases or defending officers, he would be presiding over the case as judge. He would have preferred to have been aboard a Starship as her captain, her FO, heck even back at the CONN, but when he got pulled from the Geneva, the brass thought having a Captain of a Starship, with some JAG experience would be beneficial in adjudicating cases and help the Commanding officers feel more at ease. Not to mention the fact that Will's time as the Captain of the Mithrandir did not go as well as he had hoped, or as it needed to. Still he hoped one day he would get another shot. If not, well, the brass was pleased with how he was handling his new role in the JAG corp and he had a promising future there. Still he couldn't help but feel better about his career path now that he was back with the 52nd fleet. Back at Geneva. He even knew that the Spectre, one of his previous duty stations was docked there. He wish he could go and visit Captain T'Vhor and Doctor Williams, but he had only been back at Geneva for 3 days, he needed to get up to speed on pending cases, getting to know the JAG office personal, get to know the station CO better, and see if he could convince Admiral Jopek to go golfing with him on the holodeck. Not because Will was a fan of golfing, he wasn't, or because Jopek was, Will had no way of knowing that. No, he had a bet going with a pretty lieutenant on board the USS Red River that if he could get the Admiral to go golfing she'd go on a date with him. It was a challenge Will was willing to face. Why, because he would go the extra mile for a pretty face. It was a trait of his he developed in the Academy. He sat at his desk, behind him was a portrait with 3 starships, a Defiant, Nova, and Luna class ship. They were the three USS Mithrandir, two of which he served on and commanded. He took a quick sip of his tea, earl grey, cold (cold because he had left it on his desk for half an hour and forgot about it). There was a chime at the door. "Enter." In walked a young ensign, operations gold, it was Will Frost. Frost was a family friend of his, six years his junior, well before the time jump that sent the 52nd fleet into the future. Now they were the same age. Will met Frost's family back when he was studying at the University of Oklahoma. "Hey Frosty," Will said, "have a seat." Will referred to Will Frost as Frosty, to avoid confusion as they shared the same name. ~This was a mistake I don't know why I came.~ 'Frost' did as he was asked. "Excuse me," the man thought to be Will Frost said, "But I, well this is awkward, but I needed to do this to be able to move on sir, see, well" ~This is strange, Frosty is usually more confident. This sort of beating around the bush not getting to the point reminds me of a young me.~ "It's alright dude, just let it out, it's me you can trust me. I may be a judge but whatever you say here is in strictest confidence." the Captain said in reply. "It is easier if you just read this report." The ensign said as he handed off a PADD to the puzzled JAG officer. Captain Alexander read through the report. It puzzled him, yet, it made sense. He remembered the Phantom mission very well. "So you are a younger me, in Frost's body?" "Yes sir, I am." replied the newer Alexander, the duplicate. "This is weird, but the tech was faulty, it could have created a duplicate. Did you guys scan to see if there were others?" "We did, there weren't any we could detect, I was, I am the only copy. I am only a copy." Captain Alexander looked at the young ensign, Frost's body, inhabited by the mind, memory, feelings, and personalities of his younger self. A more wide eyed, idealistic self. "You aren't a copy. Not in the truest sense. You don't have my body. Actually you are a more handsome me right now, I don't know how I feel about that." Both Alexanders chuckled. "I just had to tell you, that a copy of you existed. I would want to know, and since I would want to know if there was another me running around, well..." "You knew I would want to know." The original Alexander said. "I don't know if I am Frost or you, or both. But I am going to live my life as you until I figure it out." The duplicate stated. "No, don't be me, be you, the moment you woke up in Frost's body you ceased being a duplicate. You aren't a clone, you aren't a pure copy. You've started to change since you became you, I've changed since the moment I returned from the Spectre. We may share a mental template, but our histories can be different." The duplicate smiled, it made him feel reassured. "So what are you saying?" "Legally, you are Will Frost, technically he never died, he just well, he got you to be the pilot of his body I guess. You are both Frost and Me. A merger, you are a new you, I think. I'm not a doctor or a scientist. But reading the report that Doc Williams wrote, well he wanted you to forger a path and live your life. You get to chose who you want to be. You don't have to be. I mean you are me in a sense. But we are defined by our experiences, and that makes you different, be you. You get a chance to start over. You get to be the Will Alexander I couldn't be." The original smiled. "Be the best Will Alexander you can be." "Thanks." was all the duplicate could be. And at that moment he stopped feeling like any sense of him was a copy or shouldn't exist. He was a different Will Alexander. Hell he could go by Liam, or by his Middle name, he could keep the name Will Frost if he wanted to. The two Will Alexanders conversed and joked and got to "know" each other over the course of an hour. As the Spectre Ensign got up to go to back to duty, the original quickly took out a PADD, entered some information. "Read this over and sign it." The ensign did as he was asked. Happy to comply. The JAG officer then saved and uploaded the document. It was a legal document, an update of records. It was the JAG officers official approval of the new entity as full fledged Federation Citizen, as a Starfleet officer reflecting the Service record of Will Frost, amended to include that of the Original up to the point of the Phantom mission. Though the provision of rank would be left to the Spectre's commanding officer. The Merged entity would be officially recognized as First name William, middle name Frost, Last name Alexander. If Will Frost ever were to reawaken inside the mind and become himself again, the legal order would be rescinded reverting the name of the Citizen back to William Frost. In the meanwhile, William Frost Alexander was free to be him. "It is the best gift I can give you, be the Will Alexander you want to be." The Captain said with a smile. "Sir, did you ever marry? I saw no record in your file, which I admit I accessed all your logs. You really should change your password. You haven't changed it since 2406." The ensign asked. "No I didn't I put career first, something I swore I would never do, but, well, it was what I chose to be the best Will Alexander I could be." The Captain replied. "Well, then no offense, but I know one thing I want to keep in mind to be the Will Alexander I want to be." The Ensign Smiled, nodded at his "brother" and with a wave left to return to the Spectre. "Took a lot of courage to do what he just did. He has more of Frost in him than he knows." Captain Alexander than chuckled. "How can he get on me for not being married. I could get married if I wanted to. I bet you if I could get Jopek to golf, I could get that pretty young lieutenant to think about being Mrs. Original Will Alexander." Sacrifices had to be made to the ship and all departments had felt the pinch whether it was a medical bio-bed or two, scanners, chairs, most of the food replicators and more. The ship had been transformed into one of the fastest ships in the fleet. Remae had overseen the fitting of the technology and hadn't paid much attention to the mission he had been given to oversee, it was unusual and although he had been told to oversee their mission, he intended to work with the CO as a team and not someone who has to say "...but I am in the charge of the mission." The thought of it made him shudder. For now, the senior officers were being assembled... at 1000 in the conference room where the mission would be spelled out and their departure ordered but before any of that, Remae wanted a talk with the CO. He knew the basics, he knew what he was going to do but he was going to lay it out in front of the CO for him to see and understand. "Captain, thanks for seeing me.", he said on entering the Ready Room. So, the meeting progressed... they were going to proceed and their new maximum warp speed directly for the Starbase, when they got there, access the situation of the base, and try to locate the Tempest, Alexander or Madon herself. Starfleet has also install their scanning technology. They would be able to scan, in a limited fashion for the parasite either with their tricorders or the sensors. "Captain, I can't find anything in the records about the Messiah. Anything you can tell me about that or anything else you want to add before Jopek kicked us out would welcome.", asked Remae. He didn't have the recordings of what happened between T'Vhor and Admiral Alexander or much of anything else. Remae sat back to listen... (Reply from T'Vhor) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge - FO/CEO, Lt Remae Ktell - 10:00) The meeting was a normal affair for the senior officers to report to before the start of a new mission. Remae had called countless meetings as the CO of the Spectre and ships prior to that but he hadn't called a meeting like this when he wasn't in command. He had worked carefully with the Captain, calling the meeting in accord so that both of them worked together on the mission ahead was something Remae was desperate to do... the meeting would be split into two parts. The CO would say what he needed to and then Remae would outlay the mission ahead, the parts that everyone would play and what their goals would be. Remae sat down and at his normal spot, the right of the Captain's chair. He had his PADD, he had his coffee and he watched as the crew come in. (Reply from ALL) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge - OPS- Ens Will Alexander - 10:02) Will entered the meeting silently. It was a weird adjustment for everyone on the crew. They were used to Will Frost, and here he was an interloper in Frost's body. There were also crew members who knew the real Will Alexander, served with him, shared a drink with him. It would be an adjustment for everyone, not just Will. The very fact that Will was walking around in Frost's body meant that some could not mourn him properly. For others it meant Frost was still alive, just changed. Will still hadn't figured it out. If the body had a soul, his soul was that of Frost, that much he theorized. Frost's body technically never died, his brain did, but was somehow corrected with the memories of the Alexander brain copy. Frost's body still moved, but the Frost mind and personality would most likely never return. Will accepted that, he wondered if others would. Will even considered the possibility of surgically altering Frost's body into a replica of his old one, but he decided that was not the appropriate course of action. Besides this body was more muscular and stronger than the original Alexander's body. He entered the morning with a lot on his mind and the blessing of someone important, a meeting he held without anyone knowing, a sense of discovery. A message, "Be the Will Alexander you want to be." He had been shifted back to OPS, the position he was more comfortable with. He would be the Will Alexander he wanted to be, he even considered changing his name to his middle name, like another transporter accident creation, Thomas Riker. Though he knew he wouldn't go far of the rails as he did. Will wasn't an exact copy. He was something new. A copy that saved a life. Still though a duplicate. As he entered the conference room he sat next to the FO, the same FO who had been his original commanding officer his first time on the Spectre. Or at least he assumed it was the same Remae he had served under. Remae K'Tell was a man who knew all about other hims running around, this could be a universe displaced duplicate, or the same Remae that Will admired and was willing to sacrifice his life for. Remae wasn't his first CO, but Will's time on the Cochrane so short, and time on the Mystique designed to be limited, the only one he knew well was Remae. "Sir, good morning." Will said politely. (reply Remae) (reply Remae, any) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 10:04) Andrew entered the Observation Room and nodded to the others before moved over to his chair. He had his PADD in one hand and a cup of strong caffeine in the other. He knew that he would have to keep himself awake during the meeting and nodding of half way through would not be good. He sat a little way down the table from Alexander. Since discharging him from sickbay he had given the man as much privacy as one can get on a star ship. The situation still was very peculiar and unnerving but he would speak do Ellie or Riven to see how he was dealing with it when he had a moment properly after the meeting. He sighed softly to himself as he glanced over the information that was contained on his PADD before taking a sip of his cup. He felt the caffeine ooze away the tiredness that was making his body feel like led. He then looked up at Ktell and T’Vhor and waited for the meeting to start.
