Stardate: 3 Years Previously (Bajor – GeLar's Compound – Perra Tolqu - 11:48) Perra breathed in instinctively, even though she knew she could not be seen by anyone in the corridor, her natural reaction was to press herself against the wall and wait, the personal cloak she was wearing prevented anyone from seeing her, though the power unit attached to her waist only allowed her about half an hours use. All the time she needed to complete the contract she was given. The metallic material she was wearing refracted the light and features around her making her invisible to all around. Though it would not work against anyone using thermal goggles. But that was highly unlikely inside the compound. This latest contract would bring her enough Latinum Bars to procure the cranial implant she desired for her master plan, this implant would be the latest of many upgrades Perra had undergone to ensure she was fully prepared to extract her revenge on Teverine and Starfleet for what they had done to her. The implant would enhance her physical attributes aswell as suppress her pain receptors allowing her to sustain more pain without it stopping her from her goals. Plus greatly improve her physical abilities. ~Come on old girl keep moving~ Perra slowly breathed out, regulating her breathing allowing her to not be heard and re focus on her latest goal, slowly she moved along the corridor avoiding the bustling maids as they prepared for the afternoons festivities. She had scouted out the compound of the Bajoran Vedek Gelar for several days before choosing this day as the prime time to end his life. The newly appointed Vedek had apparently upset someone enough to have a contract put out on his life, and the Orion Syndicate was only to happy to oblige, Perra had been given her orders, as usual by a coded transmission. Not even she knew who talked to her from the Orion Syndicate, she only knew her handler the man she had first met just over 3 years ago as she limped into port. Her first interview had gone better than expected all those years ago, the gentlemen she spoke to in the bar was just the person she needed, before leaving Ornaran she had contacted a local crime lord, easy enough for a Felcium addict, he had pointed her in the right direction and told her who to talk to, and true to his word she found him in the bar indicated. When she explained her aims the man in the bar who called himself Rich said there would be a simple test and her training would begin. Later that night she was led to a room where a man was bound and gagged with a blindfold sitting in the middle of the room, they handed her a phaser and told her to kill him. Perra hardly blinked and simply pulled the trigger without comment. That day had been a revelation she knew she had found something more satisfying than drugs, the power to takes ones’ life was totally enticing, she felt the surge of adrenaline that compared to nothing beforehand, the power to take life was a power she revelled in. With each kill she envisioned Teverine in their place and she almost took a sexual pleasure from it, it was her only release of emotion, when she killed. Slowly she made her way to the door to the Bajoran Temple on site, she was told to make this messy and big, ‘a statement’ was the exact phrase used. She had killed many people in her time with the Syndicate, accidental deaths to making people suffer slowly with every last breath of their lives, whatever the order she enjoyed her work, particularly the ones where she could look into their eyes, Perra enjoyed seeing their life fade away. It was one of the perks of her job she had soon discovered. Unfortunately this would not be one of those occasions. She knew the Vedek would be entertaining his guests in the main courtyard before going to the Bajoran Shrine in the Temple itself for his daily prayers this time accompanied by his small entourage who had come to visit. She slowly looked up and down the corridor before opening the door making sure no one was taking any notice, this was the riskier bit of the operation as a door opening by itself stood out, luckily for her the only tow people now who had walked past where walking away from her in opposite directions, quickly she sneaked into the room and relaxed the Temple was empty, walking to the parapet where Vedek Gelar would be making his sermon. Reaching into her cloak she pulled out the small Ferengi locator bomb which used a pheromonic sensors to lock onto its target. She did not want the bomb going off too soon incase a servant had come in beforehand to clean up. The bomb’s yield was enough to kill the entire room but not destroy the compound, Professional pride was a matter of fact for her and destroying the whole household was a waste of time and effort. Quickly ducking under the parapet she switched the device on and lodged it onto the underside of the stone table that Vedek Gelar spoke from. Taking a furtive look around she backed away from the device and made her way to the window, opening it slightly she looked over into the gardens, seeing no one was about she swiftly vaulted the 6 feet to the ground, landing and rolling to deaden the impact of the landing she was quickly back onto her feet and running for the outer wall. There was a slight bleep from her waist band a indication she only had 5 minutes of power left on her clothing before she would again be visible to all, quickening her pace she made it to the outer wall of the compound, again taking the time to look around she whipped out her scanner from inside her cloak and quickly punched in a few commands to ensure no one was haphazardly walking along just on the other side of the wall. Checking her watch she knew she only had 10 minutes before afternoon prayers where called to order by the Vedek and pulling out another small device from her waist band she again glanced at the handheld scanner. The coast was clear aiming for the top lip she lifted the device and steadied her aim before firing. A small almost invisible cord shot from the tip and fastened onto the lip with a very slight thud. Holding the small grapple gun in her hand she again pulled the trigger and slowly began to walk up the wall as the device recoiled the thin wire back into itself. Once Perra got to the top of the wall, she looked back to the Temple , knowing that any moment her destructive plan would all come to form. Of course, it wasn't all that important to her, it was important to her employers, the Syndicate and their contractor. She began to revel in the anticipation and the suspense of waiting to hear that small explosion. One minute turned to two, then three, four. ~Impressive~ She thought to herself, ~The Vedek really is taking his time.~ She made a side grin at the malicious and sadistic thought, but then realized that her suit was about to give out, her cloak suddenly flashed and she knew she was exposed to anyone who might be wandering around. It phased in and out before dissapearing, leaving her visible, so she lay down, pressing her body to the cold surface of the stone wall waiting, wanting to see the end result with her own eyes, or at least hear it. Quickly checking her scanner she could not see anyone apporaching, so knew it was safe to continue and wait. Suddenly there was a massive, titanic explosion. One so fierce that she was able to feel the shock of the sound wave ripple toward and past her. Her eyes widened as she saw the whole temple explode into a fiery inferno with a mushroom cloud forming above it, the building destabilizing at its very foundation due to the impressively and unanticipatingly huge detonation. As she watched in both horror and excitement, her heart pumping faster than it had for some time now, her eyes wide to take in the full effect, the temple began to fall, crumbling to the ground in such an impact that nobody could dare be left alive within it. The resulting explosion and rush of air blew her from her purchase point on top of the wall falling backward she toppled to the ground with a thud, expelling the air in her body she slowly sat up rubbing her sore ribs. The previous medical experience which thickened her bones to sustain more pressure and prevent easy brakages had obviously paid off. Looking up at the distance she fell, Perra smirked at the fact she only felt a slight brusing on her ribs, the impact of the fall without her bones treatment would of surely caused a few broken bones and a more painful retreat from the scene of her crime. She could hear screams and yelling in the background, it all almost made her weak in her knees with all the chaos she was now hearing, the death and destruction, the wonderful feeling....of power. Although it really upset her that the explosive device sold to her by the Ferengi was much more than she was sold on, she was not not upset at it’s result they said a statement and that’s exactly what her employees received a statement and then some ! As for the Ferengi she would be paying him a visit, he had useful items for sale so death would not come to him this day but he would pay for his mistake, ~Maybe a broken arm or a slice of his ears ?~ She mused to herself as she stood up brushed herself off and walked into the foliage, another mission completed. It was an interesting idea and would be fascinating to see it in practice. “What other advantages would be available with the SAH?” “Well with advancements in holographic and photonic projection technology, it’s conceivable that a mobile version could be combined with a sort of field kit. It was my hope that such a kit could even carry a small shield emitter to create a sterile environment for conducting surgies. I believe this could drastically improve survival rates in battle situations or rural areas with no access to large med centers.” Andrew looked at the Huval’s thoughts as he showed him the large PADD. “Is any of this actually possible?” “Now I haven’t actually talked to an engineer about this, and I have no idea how to even begin programming this sort of thing, but I believe that with my basic concepts, medical knowledge and the right engineering team, this could be a worthwhile project. If successful, it could be pitched by the captain to Starfleet Command as a standard component on all Federation vessels. My mission with this project would be to keep cost and system requirements down while providing the greatest amount of medical care. It could make surgery a much simpler event for smaller medical staffs and save quite a few lives.” Andrew nodded. “Okay run with it and I would like to see regular updates.” (Reply Huval) (Reply Huval, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Conference Room – ACMO Ensign (JG) Mitchell Huval, DM - 20:24) “Okay run with it and I would like to see regular updates.” The First Officer gave Mitch the go ahead, “Thank you I will sir, I’m going to get in touch with Mr. Adams after the launch.” Mitch turned and walked out of the conference room and headed for the turbolift. (Reply any) (Posted by Bobby Pirie) (USS Spectre - Main Engineering - ACEO, Ensign Durgil - 22:06) 'Who are we to ask why? We just do, that's what we're here for after all.' Aldlar couldn't say he liked the way that H'chir put it, but didn't want to speak up about it. He followed the other engineers to the engineering console. The Chief spoke again. 'Run the final calibration sequence's on the cloak Lieutenant, once the Captain gives the order to power it up, I want to know that it'll perform faultlessly and without one single hitch... take Ensign Durgil with you...just in case there are any more hypospanners laying around.' 'Understood.' Adams turned to Aldlar. 'Come on. Let's go, Mr. Durgil. Pick up an engineering kit.' Aldlar nodded and followed him to the storage locker, grabbing a kit from it. He then followed the lieutenant to a door with a bunch of security devices and warnings. He knew it led to the cloak from the schematics, but as of yet, he hadn't been in there... After the doors opened, Aldlar followed Adams in. (Reply Any) (Posted by John) (USS Spectre - Ten Forward Lounge - ACSO, Ensign Teverine Tolqu - 22:07) “Good evening,” Teverine looked up suddenly from his daydream as he stared at the deep mystery of the universe in a small world of his own until he was brought out of it by Huval's greetings "Hi there. Please take a seat" He was about to ask what he wanted to drink but was relieved to see Huval had already ordered as the bartender came over with a mug of coffee. “I see, tell me, what brings you to this ship? I mean, an Ornaran in Starfleet is not a rare sight, but rare enough that I did have to put in an acquisition for five pints of Ornaran blood to have in the dispensary’s cryo storage. What made you join Starfleet?” Teverine admired his frankness and settled down and sipped his tea as he looked at the Doctor, he was obviously around the same age as himself about mid thirties, unlike Teverine's lithe wiry body Huval seemed stockier around the shoulders. "Well I appriecate the surplus blood, I honestly hope it never becomes handy." Smiling Teverine continued. "I had always wanted to join starfleet, as a child Starfleet was a word of reference when we played, we were all Starfleet Captains fighting the Brekkians, I ..." Teverine paused for a moment. "Walked out on my wife to join. It was something that I could no longer live without. Then I discovered Science though I always wanted to be in tactical my instructors felt I was more adept at Science, I must admit it does fascinate me." Not wanting to go into more detail about his personal life, at that exact moment as not only was it a morbid subject, but also brought still brought feelings of guilt rising to Teverine like bile in his throat. Teverine was glad Huval did not press him on the subject. "I see," "And you Huval. What's your story ? How did you end up on the Spectre ?" (Reply Huval) (Posted by Peter Richards) (USS Spectre - Phased Cloak Engineering Section - ACEO, Ensign Durgil - 22:09) Aldlar reached the bottom of the ladder and turned around. His eyes took a moment to adjust to the lack of light. As far as he could tell, he was in a small room. The dimensions came to mind, but didn't matter, although the schematics made more sense with the way the power conduits were around the room. He saw a cylinder which he assumed housed the cloak, with a total of twelve conduits coming out of it. ~Or into it?~ 'Okay,' Aldlar turned to face Adams, as he (Adams) approached the engineering panel on one end of the cylinder. He ducked as he passed the conduits that connected it to the ships other systems. 'Let's start running through the diagnostic. I'm going to put it in calibration mode. You scan each of the conduits and make sure the power is running within acceptable phase variances.' "Sure thing." Aldlar pulled out his tricorder and began to scan. He thought of trying to bring up conversation, but decided to focus on the job. (Reply, Adams) (Posted By: John) (USS Spectre - Ten Forward Lounge - ACMO, Ensign (JG) Mitchell Huval, DM - 22:10) "And you Huval. What's your story? How did you end up on the Spectre?" A swift change in subject from the science officer, Mitch made a note of it. “Well, I have degrees from all over North America, mostly in the medical field. I got this posting after completing the Academy, you’re fresh out of the Academy also, correct?” (Reply Teverine) “Well, I have served in a civilian capacity on the USS Fredrick Banting about eight years ago, that was during the Repatriation of Bajor. We were there to help local doctors get organized and what not. Bajor is a beautiful planet.” Huval noticed that he was beginning to ramble, “So, what did you think of Earth while you were at the Academy? I mean, I know I was deep in studies, I assume you were too, but did you ever get out about the planet?” (Reply Teverine) (Posted by Bobby Pirie) (USS Spectre - Ten Forward Lounge - ACSO, Ensign Teverine - 22:11) Teverine leaned forward as Huval began. Teverine was listening intently. “Well, I have degrees from all over North America, mostly in the medical field. I got this posting after completing the Academy, you’re fresh out of the Academy also, correct?” "Yes only a while back" Teverine replied smiling. “Well, I have served in a civilian capacity on the USS Fredrick Banting about eight years ago, that was during the Repatriation of Bajor. We were there to help local doctors get organized and what not. Bajor is a beautiful planet.” ~Well he had a more exciting life than me~ Teverine recalled the long repetative boring hours back at the Ornaran refinery. “So, what did you think of Earth while you were at the Academy? I mean, I know I was deep in studies, I assume you were too, but did you ever get out about the planet?” "To be honest no I pretty much stuck to my studies, my only thought was proving myself right for leaving.. Ornaran." Leaving out the part about his wife Teverine plundered on, sure Huval could pick up on his intent rather than his wording on the matter. "It was only recently I decided to be a little more active in my role of socialising, at the academy I only really had one friend, I tried to keep myself to myself, but after my exploits on the Starbase." Again pausing using the time to sip from his Tea trying not give to much away, though he knew he was silently speaking volumes. "I knew I had to try and change my ways, and not go back to the way I was." Smiling weakly Teverine knew Huval must of heard something about his embarassement, Beckett was not the kind of man to keep this a secret and was sure he had handed around the copies of the holo video of him blowing himself up. "And here I sit. Trying to come to terms with my new life here on the Spectre, though I must admit it still feels like this is a dream." (Reply Huval) "So what do you think are the chances of us being able to realistically single out the narcotic sequences in this Algae ?" Teverine knew he was drastically changing tact but this was only his first social interaction with Huval and certainly did not want to go to deep into his personal life just yet. (Reply Huval) "I thought as much but I assume you are up for the challenge anway?" (Reply Huval) (Posted by Peter Richards) (USS Spectre - Phased Cloak Engineering Section - Lt JG, Christopher Adams - 22:11) Lieutenant Christopher Adams and Ensign Aldlar Durgil stood in the small room one deck below Main Engineering which housed the Spectre's cloaking device. Adams had started the final diagnostic on the phased cloak device. The system was put into diagnostic mode while the ensign started to scan each of the twelve conduits which branched out from the dark cylinder which housed the cloaking device itself. The readout in front of Adams had a red glow around conduit eight. It appeared the plasma flow from that conduit was below specified norms. "Aldlar, check out conduit eight. There appears to be a problem." (reply Durgil) "Yep," replied Adams. "I see it. Looks like circuit 8-J7 is going to need to be repaired. Why don't you start working on that, and I'll scan the rest of the conduits." (reply Durgil) Adams flipped open his tricorder and started to scan the other conduits. "So, tell me Ensign," stated Adams. "How long have you been serving on the Spectre? You must have come on board while I was incapacitated or recovering at Starbase Geneva after the five year jump." (reply Durgil) (posted by Jason French) (USS Spectre - Phased Cloak Engineering Section - ACEO, Ensign Durgil - 22:13) As he scanned, Aldlar had been making his way around from conduit 1 to 3, and had almost completed scanning 3 when the lieutenant spoke. 'Aldlar, check out conduit eight. There appears to be a problem.' "I'm on it." Aldlar moved over to the conduit that was the eighth, and began to scan it. "It appears there is a raised impedance on this one, lowering it's power flow... Could be some other tool left somewhere farther back along the power lines, but I'm not sure- Wait, I'm detecting a normal flow farther back in circuit 8-J7. That's probably where the problem is. Either there or right after that circuit." 'Yep. I see it. Looks like circuit 8-J7 is going to need to be repaired. Why don't you start working on that, and I'll scan the rest of the conduits.' Aldlar nodded as he grabbed his toolkit and walked over to the wall where conduit 8 disappeared. He pulled the cover off and began to examine the circuit relays visually. Without any clues to what was going on, he then moved to more precise scanning equipment. It would take him about a minute to figure out exactly what was wrong, as he liked to check his own work and make sure of things before he acted on it. 'So, tell me Ensign, How long have you been serving on the Spectre? You must have come on board while I was incapacitated or recovering at Starbase Geneva after the five year jump.' "I actually came aboard before that temporal dohicky... you kinda lose exact track of how long, especially when others think you've been gone for 5 years. Kinda puts a strain on performing your duties. You're just beginning to fit in, and then everything changes drastically. Except for starbase grease-monkeys." (Reply Adams) Aldlar chuckled slightly as he read his third scan of the circuit. It was performing it's job right, but it's controls had been slightly altered, probably by a programming anomaly. Aldlar closed the hatch. "Everything in this panel is fine. It's probably with the power control to it. I'll check it out." (Reply Adams, IFW) Aldlar walked to the computer console and connected it with the power control. As he searched the logs, he was able to figure out what happened. "Apparently, while repairing other systems, those nuts interrupted power flow. They detected the excess power and reprogrammed the power grid to use it elsewhere. We've fixed most of that programming, but there's a recursive algorithm that's locked circuit 8-J7. Should I get to work on that now?" (Reply Adams) (Posted by John) (USS Spectre - Phased Cloak Engineering Section - Lt JG, Christopher Adams - 22:14) Lieutenant Christopher Adams and Ensign Aldlar Durgil continued their repairs on the phased cloak. "I actually came aboard before that temporal dohicky," stated Durgil. "You kinda lose exact track of how long, especially when others think you've been gone for 5 years. Kinda puts a strain on performing your duties. You're just beginning to fit in, and then everything changes drastically. Except for starbase grease-monkeys." "Agreed," responded Adams continuing to scan the other conduits. "From my perspective, I woke up five years in the future. I was knocked unconscious before the 'temporal dohicky', as you put it. I awoke at Starbase Geneva and everything I knew was changed. Very hard to get used to." The ensign closed the hatch for the conduit he was working on "Everything in this panel is fine. It's probably with the power control to it. I'll check it out." Durgil walked over to the computer console and started to run a power diagnostic. "Apparently, while repairing other systems, those nuts interrupted power flow. They detected the excess power and reprogrammed the power grid to use it elsewhere. We've fixed most of that programming, but there's a recursive algorithm that's locked circuit 8-J7. Should I get to work on that now?" "Proceed," replied Adams. "All the rest of the conduits check out. The phase variance of the plasma flow to the rest of the ship checks out. The only thing that needs fixing is conduit eight. If you fix that, the phased cloak should be fully operational." (reply Durgil) (posted by Jason French) (USS Spectre - Ten Forward Lounge - ACMO, Ensign Mitchell Huval, DM - 22:15) “And here I sit. Trying to come to terms with my new life here on the Spectre, though I must admit it still feels like this is a dream.” Mitch smiled, “Yeah, I know the feeling.” “So what do you think are the chances of us being able to realistically single out the narcotic sequences in these Algae?” “Well, I would not be so confident; still it would make for an interesting journal article. Have you considered trying to be published? I’m planning to make regular contributions to Starfleet Medical Multi-Annual.” Mitch took another sip of his coffee, “You know if I come across anything interesting. (Reply Teverine) (Posted by Bobby Pirie) (USS Spectre - Phased Cloak Engineering Section - ACEO, Ensign Durgil - 22:16) 'Proceed. All the rest of the conduits check out. The phase variance of the plasma flow to the rest of the ship checks out. The only thing that needs fixing is conduit eight. If you fix that, the phased cloak should be fully operational.' Aldlar nodded silently as he opened the control parameters. The recursive bit looked like it could have come from the department of redundancy department. It seemed to have some self-repairing lines that would make it extremely hard to remove, but Aldlar knew he could do it. He cracked his knuckles before beginning to decompile the faulty command lines. He thought of trying to bringing up conversation, but decided that he should concentrate on his work. He stopped for a moment to reassess his task. Now that he had finished decompiling, he could see that there was a line that would alert security if the code was tampered with. ~A safe precaution, but also one that is completely misused. He turned away from the console. "Now that I'm farther in, it appears they added an anti-tamper guard. I doubt it'll bother me, but just in case, should we let security know before this thing triggers some kind of alert?" (Reply, Adams) "Alright, just wanted to make sure." Aldlar returned to work. It seemed that the algorithm was designed not to be removed. Aldlar decided that it was time to join 'em. He set up a second control command to do the right thing, and then modified the original target of the loop. Within another minute, he was done. He turned to Adams, A grin on his face. "All done. I couldn't get rid of the file, so I worked around it. I tied the infinite loop into another one, so it thinks it's fine. We're ready to roll." Aldlar rechecked that all his tools were back in the toolkit, and closed it with a sense of finality often found in the closing of a good book. Trying to come to terms with my new life here on the Spectre, though I must admit it still feels like this is a dream.” “Yeah, I know the feeling.” Teverine saw the smile on Huval's face and visibly relaxed “So what do you think are the chances of us being able to realistically single out the narcotic sequences in these Algae?” “Well, I would not be so confident; still it would make for an interesting journal article. Have you considered trying to be published? I’m planning to make regular contributions to Starfleet Medical Multi-Annual.You know if I come across anything interesting. He braced himself for a flood of quesitons on Perra. “Teverine, I need to talk to you about something.” Huval lowered his voice only confirming Teverine's fears. ~It's too early I have only just met him, I don't want to scare him away this soon~ “As the attending doctor aboard ship I need to ask if you have ever been exposed to the narcotic Felcium?” ~What the ~ Shock ran through Teverine this was a sidewinder that he did not expect. He had been completly caught off guard by this question and took a moment to try and compose himself. As he felt the old anger rise in him. "I assume you are asking from a proffesional point of view and for that I will answer you Doctor." His voice was strong with emotion and he clipped his words. Ending heavily on the word Doctor and not using his name. "Yes I was exposed to Felcium, most of my race have been, but if you are reffering that I actually ever used it, then no I did not. It is the scurge of our race and something we are deeply ashamed off. But remember we were dying as a whole race many years ago when it was first introduced. The Felcium was our cure, don't forget the Brekkians were the ones to supply us with it. At first it stopped the disease but we was led to believe without it we would die from the plague that had infested our world. This is not some fun narcotic that was taken for our own amusment." Seething within Teverine tried to calm his nerves, he could feel his palm crackle with pent up energy. “I mean, even the most mundane, finite or miniscule exposure can cause serious long term damage, are you sure? Understand I am not trying to pry or accuse, but it is my responsibility to maintain the health of this crew.” "And for that reason only I will answer you. He knocked into a crewman pushing him aside and barely noticing as he bounced off the corridor wall. To in his own world to even stop and apologise. The crewman glared at his back rubbing his shoulder before continuing on his daily routine. ~How dare he think I take Felcium, if he even bothered to check my medical records he would see I refuse even pain killers such is my hate of drugs~ Teverine sliently raged as he made for his quarters. A part of him knew he had over reacted but in the heat of the moment he did not listen to his reasonable side. Though he wanted to change obviously it was going to take longer than he wanted. Now all he wanted to do was be alone and not interact with anyone. But duties came first and he knew he had roughly ten minutes to be on the bridge. (Reply None) (Posted by Peter Richards) (USS Spectre - Ten Forward Lounge - ACMO, Ensign (JG) Mitchell Huval, DM - 22:25) "We are needed on the bridge launch time is soon. Doctor." “Hey,” Teverine was gone from the table before Mitch got the word out. Others in Ten Forward staring now, slowly went back to their drinks. Mitch leaned back in the chair. ~Check one for bed side manner~ Mitch had seen this reaction before, drug addiction was nothing new to him. Even though the Federation, especially Earth, liked to maintain a squeaky clean image, the truth was that simply people were people. Narcotics from all across the galaxy bumped around from port to port, especially large ports like the ones in Sol system. Mitch had relatives that had been addicted to drugs and always got the same reaction. As a doctor, Mitch knew Teverine was showing a severe reactionary complex. It was a kind of addiction, not based around the need of intake of illicit substances, but more akin to bottled up emotions. Mitch knew this was probably not Teverine’s first outburst and it would most certainly not be his last. He was controlled, sub conscientiously, by the Felcium. Not as a drug but as a psychological block. He had obviously been so traumatized by the drug’s effect on those around him that he knew of no other reaction. Mitch figured that it was similar to the families of persons suffering from a debilitating alcohol addiction. The family wants to help so much their lives break down along with the addict under the guise of trying to help. Not as physically dangerous, but much more psychologically dangerous. Mitch knew he had to monitor the situation closely, but not act, as he was not a counselor. Mitch knew it was best not to react to the outburst, but rather try to foster a kinship with Teverine. He would keep his distance and if Teverine asked for help, be there to give it. The question had come from nowhere and it had surprised him, he had a knee jerk reaction. A couple of other stations reported in and when Lt Cmdr Capps found an opening he spoke up, "tactical is ready for any command sir and all personnel have reported aboard, all starbase personnel are back on the starbase, and all vital functions are running under normal parameters." She watched as the console confirmed that they were released from the star base’s power and life support. "Take us out Lieutenant, ahead one quarter impulse", said the Captain. ”Aye sir. Ahead one quarter impulse.” She tapped the impulse control and steadily increased speed to one quarter impulse. She watched as she aimed the Spectre in between the opening space doors. She kept a close watched on the proximity sensors. The last thing she needed was to misjudge the rate of opening and hit one of the doors. She gave a mental grin as the view in front of her changed from the interior of the Starbase to the black darkness of space. "Message coming in from Starbase 24 sir", said the comms officer, "bon voyage, god speed" "Signal our appreciation and thank then for their hospitality",said T`Vhor. "Conn , make your course heading one ninety mark thirty nine, engage at warp five when ready", he added. ”Aye Sir. Course one ninety mark thirty nine at warp five. Engaging now.” She entered the course as she spoke and tapped the warp engine command as the Spectre jumped into warp. Andrew who had been watching the whole departure hid the mental grin behind his calm outward appearance. The Captain stood to hand off the bridge to the First officer. "You have the bridge number One, I will be in my ready room if I am needed. Andrew nodded. “Yes Captain. I have the bridge.” As the Captain left the bridge Andrew leaned back in his chair and began to relax a little as they went towards there destination. He had a split personality between work and leisure time. His split personality was fighting itself because he was working, but his work was what he lived for and what he considered fun. With the order from the Captain to un-rest the ship, turn its body in the correct direction, and the approval to engage officially started the Spectre’s crew new mission. They would be traveling for 3 weeks, enough time to work out any kinks that may have produced itself with such a long time away from normal duty. Captain T’Vhor stood up and gave the bridge over to Cmdr Williams. The Spectre was now at warp speed and the streaks of the stars could be seen. Calvin could no longer hold in his smile. He turned to the turbo lift and entered, “Main Engineering please,” the doors closed and the lift whirled away. (Reply None) (Posted by Bobby Pirie) (USS Spectre - Captain's Ready Room - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 23:15) The Captain stood hands clasped behind his back and looking rearwards over the nacelles and engineering hull of his ship, his vantage point was of course the viewing port of his ready room, and as the warp stars trailed off into smudged points of light in the far distance, he thought briefly of his recently passed grandfather. The old Vulcan had been a thinker almost the entire span of his two hundred and four years, and towards the end of his life he had spent many hours attempting to ratify the very meaning of existence and being. In his early days logic clearly dictated the uselessness in the task itself, there was no defining answer available of course but regardless of that fact, his closing years had nonetheless caused him to quest deeply on the path of existentialism. Was it age that caused one to think illogically? The Captain did not know, perhaps it did.... perhaps not, no doubt that one day assuming the universe decreed it of course, he would find out the answer to that question himself. T'Vhor took a deep breath at the very thought, his brow furrowed slightly in response, then he turned away and sat at his desk, a log entry now in mind. "Captain's log stardate 2413.12.12 23:17 hundred hours", he began. "The Spectre disembarked Starbase 24 on time and without incident at precisely 23:00 hundred hours, our course is the Falconer system and the water world Vedea IV, wherapon we will be tasked with escort duties of the Freighter Kintaka. The crew seem eager to be getting out there again and after five years of technological and social advance, compressed as it has been into a few months for us, they are curious as to what we will find" "The identity of the female that attacked Lieutenant Isengard is still, as yet unidentified. However, evidence now points to the fact that she was not working alone but was part of a bigger, covert group tasked with gaining knowledge that was specific to Lieutenant Isengard himself.... one can only hypothesize what that might be but it is logical to assume that it is something to do with the work carried out by him during the civil war. One might further hypothesize that this group has perhaps waited 'five' years in order to gain access to whatever they may seek" The Captain paused briefly as he contemplated the issue at hand, the attack had bothered him since the very beginning and despite Starfleet commands insistence that it could'nt possibly have anything to do with the civil war, or indeed operations carried out during it's course of action, he could not rule out the possibility that there was indeed a connection. A gut feeling perhaps, did Vulcans ever have gut feelings? It had to be remembered of course that T'Vhor was not a pure blood Vulcan.... was this perhaps a feeling borne of his Betazoid heritage then? The Captain could see no defining answer there and so continued on with a change of subject.... "The Vedeans promise to be an interesting species worthy of study and Ensign Tolqu is most intrigued to get his hands on a sample of the Algae from their seabed, I am sure though that this has nothing to do with his own species past addictions to narcotic substances, but is purely a scientific curiosity that I am encouraging him to pursue. There has been no pirate activity reported in the Falconer system for over three months now, this could indicate a low probability of attack right now but I am remaining cautious that this could also signal an attack is now due. We will arrive at Vedea IV in three weeks, two days.... I remain optimistic of a good outcome" The Captain then ended the status report with a curt 'End log, append to existing', to which the computer responded with an affirmative response as he stood and then returned, hands clasped behind himself, to the viewing port once again. Mitch imagined it as a massive heart, beating energy as blood through the veins of the ship. Here was the center of it all. “Doctor, can I help you,” a young crewmen asked. The doctor revealed a PADD and handed it over. "It's a holographic program based on the EMH, but much more basic, a Surgical Assistant Hologram." "Okay," responded Adams hesitantly. "What makes it different? Any hologram that does any type of medical assistance is by definition an EMH in my book." "Well, the concept is that the EMH should be reserved for emergencies and triage situations, where as this program will be a regularly used database and pair of hands for surgery." "Interesting," said the engineer. "I would need more information. With the new computer core, we have no problem running the current EMH in various different medical situations for extended periods of time. I would need to see the database schema changes to see how this is different." "Well, I have a lot of filing and what not to finish," replied Huval. Needless to say the cloak had performed admirably and was operating both at, and beyond it's design specifications. The engineering department had been justifiably pleased at the result and Lt H'Chir had given them all a metaphorical pat on the back at exceeding it's design parameters, in truth it had probably been more a cocking of a snoot at the Starbase Engineers, but, credit where due nonetheless... Elsewhere, the rabbit had been busy doing what it was best at doing, namely escaping from it's pen and roaming the ship to inevitably turn up in Engineering, precisely where it would be the least appreciated. Needless to say, the CEO was not at all pleased and his resultant call to the bridge bore that out to perfection. =/\=Engineering to bridge!=/\= The Captain raised an eyebrow at the communication which had arrived in the form of a shout and was clearly that of Lieutenant H'Chir himself. "Go ahead Lieutenant", said the Captain, his voice a complete contrast to the angst of the Andorian's. =/\=That damned lagomorph is in my department Captain, how can I be expected to work efficiently when the equivilent of a tribble with ears, eyes and a nose is under my feet!", exclaimed the CEO. The Captain exhaled heavily, it had been some time since the rabbit had caused problems on board the ship and he found himself cursing Jynea once more for seeing fit to choose him as it's new babysitter. In an instance he found himself wondering if this was some kind of poetic justice metted out to him for all the times he had infuriated her with his logical ramblings... then he put the thought out of his mind, it was absurd after all. "I'll have security deal with it immediately Lieutenant, in the meantime, can you perhaps apprehend it?", asked the Captain. =/\=Apprehend it sir?=/\= came the response from Engineering, =/\=the thing is currently enjoying a light show, it's just sitting there watching the warp core pulse like some demented Andorian Hybor, I can 'apprehend' it, but I don't want to.... the last time I tried to grab it.... it drew blood=/\= The Captain raised another eyebrow. "Indeed", he answered, "someone will be with you shortly Lieutenant, I suggest you.... allow it to keep enjoying the 'display' until they get there", he added. =/\=Captain!, my warp core is NOT a display, please ensure that it's gone sooner than later=/\= said H'Chir, and then he closed the comms without a by your leave. "Mark", Jennifer reduced power to the warp engines as they dropped out of warp. The computer relayed scans of the system onto her display and she quickly entered the heading and speed to Vedea IV as the she turned the ship on it's new course. The Captain then turned to the First Officer, who seemed perturbed at the rabbit's continuing shenanigans. Andrew tried with difficulty to keep the amusement out of his eyes. He knew that it was not a laughing matter and that the ‘Bunny’ had wrecked sickbay when it had gotten into the medical memory core. “May'be we should put it in stasis or at least tag it.” He then gave a slight shrug. He was happy to know that the Captain was taking correct measures to keeping this rodent out of the way instead of just allowing it to roam free. (Reply None) (Posted by Calvin) (USS Spectre – Main Engineering – Ensign Jim Worik – 10:02) Jim walked into engineering with an inescapable cage in hand. Through the double doors and to the left was main engineering with the core directly in front of him. In between the core and Ensign Worik was a rabbit that wasn’t moving except for its little nose. The Ensign was greeted by an aggravated Engineer Chief, understandably. Before Lt H’Chir could speak Jim raised his hand, “I’ll get it out of here as soon as I can get it in the cage.” (reply H’Chir) “I’m going, I’m going,” Jim said as he walked away from H’Chir irked. He only made a few steps before he started to walk slowly and move more like a ninja. He bent his knees and moved toward the rabbit. In the process he placed the cage down and opened the door. He took one final step, and he watched in slow motion the rabbit’s body twitch and began to move away. Jim leaped and his body was in mid air for a full second before his body hit the ground stomach first. His body dragged against the carpet and his face felt like it had just been scratched. With slight pain the Ensign jumped to his feet and sprinted toward the direction the rabbit went. He chased it around the warp core to the back panel. Jim found an open panel. Ensign Worik knew the rabbit had to go inside as it was the only place for the rabbit to escape to. Jim laid down on the ground and stuck his head inside of the panel. He looked right, no rabbit. He looked left and the rabbit was sitting against the panel wall facing Jim. Their eyes met and each of them knew that one of them wasn’t going to get out of this situation without incident. Ensign Worik placed his arm inside of the panel. He reached for the rabbit. As the hand got closer to the rabbit, it attacked with the only defense it knew how. It bit the hand and drew blood. Jim retracted his arm and hand quickly and exclaimed, “Frick!” Without hesitation he rammed his hand back into the panel to quickly grab the rabbit. To the Ensign’s surprise he was successful at attaining the rodent. The rabbit was squirming and attempting to get away so Jim began to walk fast toward the cage. He felt embarrassed the way he was walking funny as if he had to go the restroom badly while hold the rabbit in both hands but away from his body. He made it to the cage and placed the rabbit inside of it as fast as possible and closing the gate immediately after. “Got it!” he screamed as he raised his body and breathing out hard. “Got it,” he said again but a little quieter. (reply H’Chir) “Thanks!” (reply H’Chir, any) (posted by Calvin) (USS Spectre – Main Engineering – CEO, Lt H'Chir – 10:03) H'Chir simply stood, his antennae gesticulating wildly as he looked down at the lagomorph. It annoyed the CEO that the thing appeared to be gaining satisfation that it had annoyed him so, it's eyes fixing on his own as it moved it's jaws in a constant chewing motion as though masticating an imaginary carrot. Why the Captain had ever accepted it on board H'Chir would never know, the truth of the matter though was that he had, it was here and apparently here to stay. The arrival of a security Ensign would ensure that it would not stay in Engineering though! “I’ll get it out of here as soon as I can get it in the cage", said the Ensign. H'Chir motioned to the creature with an extended hand and turned to the security officer. "Knock yourself out, I think it's bored of the lightshow now anyway", said H'Chir, "just be quick about it before it finds something else to enjoy", he added as he stepped aside to allow the Ensign to do his work. “I’m going, I’m going”, said the Ensign in a slightly rattled tone before crouching down to home in on the rabbit. The he leapt for it, colliding face first onto the carpet as he did so! Predictably, the slow moving bundle of fluff had been more nimble than the Ensign had expected and it had shot off like a galloping horse, followed closely by the irate security officer, the two ran around the warp assembly as H'Chir watched with a slightly amused expression upon his face. "Be careful Ensign, he may have a hidden phasor upon his person", said H'Chir. The Ensign seemed to ignore the comment, either that or he had been so engaged in the rabbits capture that he had not heard it at all. Then there was silence, apparently the rabbit had been cornered and had ventured into an opened panel. “Frick!” "Wha!", cried H'Chir just as the Ensign came into view holding the struggling rabbit, his hand now dripping blood as he did so. “Got it!”, he cried, “Got it”. "H'Chir smiled as the Ensign put it into the cage and then shut the door. "Looks like it 'got' you to", said the CEO glancing to the Ensign's injured hand. (Reply Worik) "I'd get that looked at if I were you", said H'Chir. (Reply Worik) H'Chir drew a sigh of relief and then thanked the security officer for a job well done... and a little comical entertainment. “Thanks!”, said Worik as he picked up the cage and marched off. "Thanks," Ensign Worik said quickly. He realized that he wasn't being very polite but he wasn't in the mood. He just chased a rabbit and was bitten by it. The CEO thanked Jim again with sincerity and Ensign Worik responded with a more polite and eager thank you. A smile brushed across his face as he knew getting on the good side of the CEO was'nt the easiest task. Jim picked up the cage and left Main Engineering. "Do you have the beamdown coordinates chief?", asked the Captain returning his attention briefly to the console and it's operator. "Aye sir, coordinates have been received and have been verified, the Vedean first minister is awaiting your arrival", said the transporter chief. The Captain then turned to the rest of the away team, noting as he did so that everyone had arrived accordingly equipped. Adams had brought with him a standard field engineering kit, his task being to verify and correlate interface protocols between Federation technology and that of the Vedeans, just in case they needed to implement any of their own equipment in any way of course. Dr Huval had been requested as a medical liason and was duly equipped to that goal, and Lieutenant commander Capps was there to oversee any security issues that might develop whilst planet side. It was all pretty much standard fare, no surprises were expected but each officer carried the standard phasor at his side nonetheless. "Any questions?", enquired the CO. (Reply Any) NRPG: Assuming a no here but can change if need be. Before them, the Vedean first minister stood with two other's, one of whom seemed to be overly observant of the officers that had arrived with the Captain and quite evidently part of the first ministers security. The Captain took the initiative and moved forwards, extending a hand to formally introduce himself and then his team respectively. The Spectre was slammed sideways before the shields could even come up as it was hit by an EMP pulse of some kind, consoles suddenly exploded sending sparks across the bridge before all the lights vanished and darkness enveloped every one. Andrew who was half out of his chair was flung across the bridge and slammed hard into a bulkhead before dropping to the floor in a heap. ~Get up. We need to get after her.” “Commander helm control is not answering. I have no control or power and we are dropping towards the surface.”, said Smith. Andrew spun round to look at Storm for any further information, but there seemed to be little to go on, plain and simple, the Kintaka, or whatever it really was had effectively disabled a lot of their key systems and they were indeed falling out of orbit. ~Dropping as in crashing. The CEO was now at the master console overseeing the relevant indicators which were all showing nominal readings with no problems whatsoever. The Chief smiled inwardly, satisfied that his 'baby's seemed happy and contented, then as he turned about he suddenly found himself flung to the floor in an undignified heap. "What in Uzaveh's name was that?", cried H'Chir as he quickly pulled himself to his feet, whilst all about him engineering crewmen and women did likewise with the same startled expressions upon their faces. The CEO rushed back to the master console, his hands dancing over the display with corresponding little chirrup sounds indicating negative responses to each of his attempts to raise the indicators to anything higher than bottomed out. "We've lost both impulse engines and thrusters, structural integrity field is at minimal power!", he cried as his engineers ran about probing at various consoles in an attempt to rectify those problems, whilst the engineering deck suddenly became bathed in red to the accompaniment of the alert klaxons. =/\=“Williams to Engineering=/\= ~About time to~ H'Chir answered immediately of course. "My guess would be an EMP weapon of some sort, the relays will free themselves, but not anytime soon", said H'Chir. (Reply Williams) "If we are going to go down Commander, I would suggest the contingency of transferring all available power to the ventral shielding to stop us burning up in the Vedean atmosphere, in the meantime I think I can get the thrusters online for a controlled descent once we are through, other than that I dunno", said the CEO. (Reply Williams) "If I can't, I guess they'll be fishing our atoms out of Vedea IV's ocean for sometime afterwards", said H'Chir just as an indicator flashed erratically on his console. "I want those thrusters back online at whatever the cost, if you have to use your bodies to assist in electrical flow then do so.... Ensign Durgil, as ordered had taken the left corridor upon entering jefferies tube 22A and had made his way to the auxiliary purge valve. The following procedure required precise timing and it had to be executed just right otherwise the relay's would not release and they would be back to square one with a ship falling uncontrolled towards a large body of water. The CEO readied himself at the panel and then tapped at his combadge. "H'Chir to Ensign Durgil" (Reply Durgil) "I'm ready to release the thruster relay lock, I need you to purge the EPS feeds in....", said H'Chir pausing now to check the timing, "10 seconds, nine, eight.....", he added, counting backwards towards their mark" (Reply Durgil) "One. PURGE!", cried H'Chir watching the indicators now and readying his finger above the requisite button. In an instance, the lights began scanning left to right as the system purged, the indicator for the thruster relays going from flashing red to flashing green as the CEO looked on, grinding his teeth as he did so. "Come on... come on", he mumbled hesitantly, then the green light stabilized and finally remained constant. "Thruster relays have been released, the thrusters are back online", said H'Chir jubilantly, informing both Durgil and the bridge accordingly. It then took but a few seconds for the announcement to bear results, the ship slowed slightly, the vibrations of it's previously uncontrolled descent easing now just enough to prevent the ship smashing into a million and one pieces upon impact with the surface of Vedea IV's ocean expance. The CEO knew in himself of course that they had no time now to get out of the jefferies tubes so with that in mind, he hailed Durgil once again. "Brace yourself Ensign, this could be quite a wallop", said H'Chir. (Reply Durgil) The seconds seemed to last forever, a bead of sweat appeared upon the Andorian's face as he gripped hold of a service rail nearby and then braced his legs onto the wall opposite. Then the inevitable happened. The impact of the ship hitting the water lifted the Chief vertically into the air, his legs and arms the only thing preventing him from being flung though the upper bulkhead panel itself, Newtonian physics then came into force as H'Chir fell back down to the grating once again, his forehead hitting the hard metal resulting in a half inch section of blue skin to become seperated from his skull, and the blue blood within his veins beyond to spill onto the decking as he whinced in pain. H'Chir reached up with his fingers to touch the wound, then he brought them in front of his eyes, cursing as he did so. He took a deep breath and then tapped at his combadge once again. "Durgil, are you OK?", he asked. (Reply Durgil) It was then however that Williams hailed him also. =/\=Williams to engineering. We have 15 minutes before we hit the sea bed how are the thrusters going?=/\= H'Chir hauled himself upright and then glanced to the panel he had been working with with a confused look upon his face, they were online and working weren't they? They were just now anyway. H'Chir frowned at the indicators and bit at his lower lip. The panel was now showing the thrusters as 'offline', they had done their bit in the air but the impact with the water had evidently shook some panels loose elsewhere, and that too was indicated upon H'Chirs panel as intermittent light flashes showed someone, somewhere swapping out panels on the bridge. "From my panel sir I can see you have someone switching panels on the bridge, the relays have released so I see no reason whatsoever that the thrusters won't fire shortly, they were however meant for operation in an airless vacuum and not the ocean depths so how good they will be in that water though is another matter entirely", said the CEO. (Reply Williams) H'Chir then heard the bang over the comms, and the sound of water as the First officer gave the order to evacuate the bridge, he also heard mention of the battle bridge and quickly interjected the FO's requests with a loud 'NO!' (Reply Williams) "With respect sir, we cannot operate from the battle bridge. The EPS feeds won't come online until the ship separates and I certainly don't recommend a separation in the water", said H'Chir. (Reply Williams) "The forcefields will hold sir, they run adjacent to the primary thruster feeds, which are currently showing as at optimal requirement", said H'Chir. (Reply Williams) "I would suggest that a minimal team remain on the bridge and execute a controlled descent now to the seabed via the thrusters..... just how deep are we talking here?", said the CEO. (Reply Williams) H'Chir performed a quick mass/pressure calculation in his head and then duly responded with an answer. "The ship will hold sir, though for how long I don't know", said H'Chir. "Move the non essential crew to the centre of the ship by all means but.... we have to do this from the bridge sir", added H'Chir. (Reply Williams) "I need to get out of this damn tube and back to the master console, I can update you from there... Aldlar tightened his leg against the opposing wall, shoving his back against the bulkhead, and his arms against the ceiling, trying to anchor himself on as many points as possible. The ship lurched, and Aldlar felt his weight shifting, and saw his toolkit going to the ceiling. ~"Never forget to brace your toolkit."~ The voice of one of his professors ran through his head, but only to late. The toolkit slid along the ceiling above his right arm, and then suddenly dropped, hitting with hard pressure between the ensign's elbow and wrist. Aldlar clenched his jaw in pain as he saw what appeared to be a new joint bend. Once inertia had leveld itself out, Aldlar released all pressure, allowing himself to slid to the floor. ~Fool! Why couldn't you have remembered!~ Aldlar grabbed his toolkit, which now had a little blood on one of it's edges, with his left hand, and began to return to J22-A, his left arm limp. =/\= Durgil, are you OK? =/\= "Alive yes, but my right arm is broken. On my way back to J22-A. The ship?" There was no answer. Durgil knew it had to be the bridge crew, or something else important. He continued to the junction. Once there, he began to wait, starting by filling his time with the task of bandaging his arm. He ripped his right sleeve off with his teeth, using the already torn part from the cut as a starting point. Using his left hand, he tied it around the wound, Also holding an interphasic coil spanner as a temporary splint. The pain was... Excruciating? Aldlar couldn't think of the word, but it sure felt bad... He began to wait for the CEO. After a while he arrived, but not in the greatest of condition... "Sir, what happ- Never mind. I can guess." (Reply, H'chir) "Just hold on a bit." Aldlar ripped his left sleeve, again with his teeth. He handed the fabric to the lieutenant. "Tie it around your head." Although he knew the CEO had the same basic field training for medical practice as any engineer, Aldlar was fresher from the academy, and had a few things fresher in his mind... (Reply, H'Chir) "Nah, I'm fine. I can still work with one hand..." Aldlar paused as he clenched his jaw in pain again. "... At any rate, lets get back to Engineering. Tell me what's going on while we're on our way." Flames licked at its hull from the heat of re-entry leaving blackened and scorched hull plating. The ship slammed into the ocean below cascading huge waves of water in all directions. As the Spectre settled on the calm surface it began to sink, slowly at first but then quicker as the water found gaps in the hull and poured in. The ship was enveloped by the water as it descended into the vast depths of the ocean and all that was left of the Spectre’s presence was a small trickle of bubbles. Andrew looked slowly at the ceiling of the bridge as he heard the creaking and groaning of the Spectres rapid descent. “Helm is there a sea bed out there?” Jennifer looked at her console and nodded as she watched the depth gauge begin to increase. “Yes Sir, we should reach it in about 15 minutes.” There was another loud groan and then a bang and the bridge shook slightly. “Ensign Storm, evacuate the crew into the centre of the ship and seal off the sections behind them. I want a buffer area from the hull in case we get a hull breach.” (Reply Storm) “Helm any way of stopping our descent.” Jennifer shook her head as the hull groaned loudly. “I can start slowing our descent but we do not have enough power to stop or get us back to the surface.” “Williams to engineering. We have 15 before we hit the sea bed how are the thrusters going?” (Reply H'Chir) There was a loud bang and the sound of rushing water. Andrew spun round and looked towards the observation room lounge. ~Ow this is good~ As he moved towards the door he heard the sound of swearing water from with in as the door creaked ominously. ~Great we are flooding~ “Okay every one off the bridge now. Suddenly there was a ship-wide broadcast, =^=“All crew by order of the Captain move quickly but in an orderly fashion to the center of the ship. Everybody just stay calm and we will be all right. I repeat everybody, even those who believe they are too important to leave their stations. The EMH appeared, “Please state the nature of the Medical Emergency.” The crewman, shouted, “The ship is in freefall, we have to prepare to receive wounded and evac unsecured portions of...” Before the crewman could finish, splash-down. There were shouts and yelling from every corner of the sickbay. The lighting went out as a portion of the overhead plating collasped, crew and supplies hit the ceiling and then bounced like toys around the room. The EMH stood there, being a photonic avatar, it was unaffected by the sudden deceleration and merely watched the events unfold. The emergency lighting kicked in and several wall mounted displays were now on the floor with rubble and supplies scattered all around. Entire bulkhead coverings from the back wall of sickbay had collapsed to the floor. Nurses and staff kept pulling others off the ground and from under debris. The chaos began to end as personnel began to mentally gather themselves and revert to their training. The ship began to right herself. Sickbay began to fill up, crewmen and officers from the forward sections began to gather inside sickbay. There was momentary confusion about the gathering, then the EMH spoke up, “Attention Spectre crew, please if you are uninjured, move into the waiting room and adjacent office area for shelter so that triage can begin in the main ward.” Nurses and technicians were running around gathering and reorganizing supplies. They began clearing debris off the bio-beds. Suddenly the main sickbay doors opened again, an engineer limped in to the room on the shoulder of another crewmember. Out in the passageway there was thick smoke and shouting, miles of wires were out of their overhead casings and on to the decks. The red alert lighting was still quietly pulsing its warning. None of this phased the EMH, it grabbed its tricorder and took the engineer by the arm. “How was this man injured?” The assisting crewmen looked at the EMH, “A bulkhead about two decks down collapsed. There’s still two or three crewmen trapped behind that frame.” The EMH motioned a busy nurse over, the deck plates and remaining bulkhead facades continued to shutter. “Nurse this man has lacerations to his right forearm, there’s possible internal bleeding and a concussion. Scan him and report back to me.” (Reply Douswy, iyw) The nurse took the engineer over to one of the waiting beds, the EMH looked up as injured crewmen and officers kept pouring in, “Please keep moving in, if you are injured see one of the nurses, if you are seeking shelter move into the waiting area so that triage may begin.” (Reply Douswy, iyw) (Reply, any) (Posted by Bobby Pirie) (USS Spectre – Bridge – FO, Williams - 10:28) =^=From my panel sir I can see you have someone switching panels on the bridge, the relays have released so I see no reason whatsoever that the thrusters won't fire shortly, they were however meant for operation in an airless vacuum and not the ocean depths so how good they will be in that water though is another matter entirely=^= There was a loud bang and the sound of rushing water. The away team remained with them of course, as did their Vedean counterparts, the First minister then spoke of their reasons for being there. "Tell me Captain", he said turning towards the Vulcan hybrid, "recent reports show that bandit activity in the Falconer system has ceased somewhat.... I would appreciate your thoughts on this", he added. The Captain paused briefly, then he gave the best answer he was able to, based of course upon logic and the benefit of a detached, neutral viewpoint. "We must assume that an attack is always a possibility at any time First minister, the only defined logic we are in possession of is the knowledge that bandits, once they have acted in a manner defining them thus, will inevitably resort to that manner once again", said the Captain, "the only variable here is time, and it's length has no bearing upon statistical probabilities" The first minister nodded and then formulated a responce only to be interrupted by the sudden arrival of another Vedean, this time an advisor of some sort. The Advisor immediately took the first minister aside, then he spoke with apparent angst, a fact that did not go unnoticed by the Captain and his entourage. (Reply Any, IYW) The First minister then returned with some very bad news. "Captain, our sensors have detected an attack in orbit of Vedea IV.... it would seem that your ship has sustained damage and has entered into our atmosphere", said the First minister. "An attack?", queried the Captain, "to what extent?" The FM appeared pensive, as though not quite sure how to say what he knew he had to say now. "We have tried to establish communication of course but it would appear that your communications are not functioning, our sensors tracked the descent and.....", he paused here. "Captain, it would appear that your ship made contact with our ocean at precisely ten hundred hours, twenty nine minutes, it would appear that she disappeared beneath the water", he added, his own head bowed now. The Captain wasted no time of course and immediately tapped at his combadge in an attempt to establish communications with the ship, though to no avail, then he turned to the Vedean First minister, a sense of urgency now appearing in his demeanor, courtesy of his Betazoid side of course. "First minister.... may I respectfully request your assistance in locating my ship and crew and establishing communication with them?", asked the Captain. The First minister nodded accordingly. "Of course Captain, efforts to locate your vessel are already underway, all of Vedea IV's services are unquestionably... at your service", said the First minister. The Captain then turned to Lieutenant Commander Capps. "Liase with the Vedean security Lieutenant Commander, report to me immediately you have any information and attempt to secure a report to Starfleet command", said T'Vhor. As H'Chir approached the entrance to J22A, Ensign Durgil could be seen waiting at the first junction, nursing his aforementioned damaged arm and sporting a ripped tunic sleeve as he did so. Clearly the arm was indeed broken as it looked twisted in a manner that fully explained the pained expression upon his face in an instance, which changed suddenly upon seeing the blood now issuing forth from the gaping wound on the CEO's forehead as he approached. "Sir, what happ- Never mind. I can guess.", began Ensign Durgil. "Just a flesh wound Ensign, comes with the territory", said H'Chir, although the young Ensign did not look particularly convinced and immediately begged to differ on the CEO's self assessment. "Just hold on a bit", he said as he quickly removed his remaining sleeve with his teeth before handing it to the chief. "Tie it around your head", he said, motioning to the CEO's wound as he did so. "Next you'll be offering me a mother's teat for comfort", quipped H'Chir as he took the makeshift bandage and then brought it up to the wound, then with a puzzled look and the distinct lack of a mirror or suitably polished surface, he queried the extent of the cut itself. "Is it that bad?", he asked. (Reply Durgil) "I'll live, I'm not queezy, having visual disturbances or anything that might signify anything worse than a simple cut.....that arm looks messed up though", said H'Chir motioning with his hand to the Ensign's own injury, "you need to get to sickbay, your not much use to me with one arm", said H'Chir. "Nah, I'm fine. I can still work with one hand...", said Durgil, "... At any rate, lets get back to Engineering. Tell me what's going on while we're on our way", he added. The two then began to make their way back towards the access panel. H'Chir had resisted the urge to state the obvious to the Ensign's query on this occasion of course, he wasn't particularly known for his tolerance or sense of humour and on a number of occasions he had driven people crazy with his somewhat strange and sarcastic ways. Initially, he had wanted to say 'the ship fell out of the sky and we hit a planet Ensign', but not wishing to offend the man, especially considering the fact that he had gone out of his way to help him, he chose to refrain from his usual Andorian brand of sarcasm. "The thrusters worked during the descent as planned", said the CEO, "then they went offline... from what I can tell someone is swapping out panels on the bridge so we should have some sort of thrust ability very soon if we don't already", he added. (Reply Durgil, IYW) "The FO wants to use the battle bridge to control our descent through the water itself as the bridge is leaking", said H'Chir, "personally, I'm against it and have made my feelings clear, as you know we can't directly power up the battle bridge without a separation..... unless we bypass the feeds of course", he added as they both exited the tube and then stepped back into the hustle and bustle of main engineering. "I believe that we could trick the sensors into thinking the ship is separated, and activate control from the battle bridge. Odd's are that the main bridge has some damaged relays, and with water in there...", said Ensign Durgil, trailing off now as he contemplated the possible outcome of that. "My thought's precisely", said H'Chir marching quickly back to the master console now, "without a real separation though we would be driving blind and on sensors alone. The ship has taken damage, the hullplates could be weakened and we have no real idea of the terrain we will be coming down upon", he added. (Reply Durgil) H'Chir pursed his lips, the Ensign was right of course, the idea was viable but when you had to think like a Captain and consider the lives of over two hundred crew... he wasn't so sure he wanted to risk recommending a separation under those conditions. Instead, he quickly accessed the scematics of the ship, then he homed in on the bridge module. "The bridge is still our best option, the thruster are back online so whoever was performing the impromptu surgery up there deserves a pat on the back", said H'Chir, "we have hull breaches on the outer corridors of decks eleven, twelve and sixteen.... all landing struts are operational", he added pausing now to assess their options and then turning to Durgil once again. "The deck twelve breach is on the starboard aspect, sensors are saying that the forcefields are holding and that the deck is dry... I need you to go down to the battle bridge and visually confirm that just in case we have to use it after all", said H'Chir. (Reply Durgil) H'Chir then opened a channel to the bridge, hoping that someone was still actually up there. "H'Chir to Captain....", he began, then realizing the slight mistake, he was about to correct himself but thought different, after all with T'Vhor off the ship, Williams WAS the Captain! (Reply Williams) "I'm fine sir, just a little shaken. I'm still recommending that we do not use the battle bridge right now, we cannot confirm viability of the hull on deck twelve and my console is still telling me that the bridge is still our best option for a controlled descent to the seabed", said the CEO. (Reply Williams) "I'd rather see with our own eyes just where we are headed than trust to sensors right now sir but as a contingency, I've sent Ensign Durgil to the battle bridge, we need to assess it visibly just in case we do indeed have to use it... either now or later", said H'Chir. (Reply Williams) "Unfortunately I am needed in a far more delicate area right now and I don't want to risk anyone else being there with me", he added. (Reply Williams) "The matter/antimatter storage tanks... there is a possible rupture in the intermix chamber, if sea water hit's it sir, we aren't going to know much about it at all", said H'Chir ominously. I am going to give to a full body scan to make sure there is nothing else going on.” She laid the engineer onto the bio-bed and activated the scanner. “While it is doing that, let’s take a look at that arm.” Douwsy grabbed a dermal regenerator from a nearby trolley and began to move it across the engineer’s laceration. With quick precise movements the laceration healed as the dermal regenerator did its work. When she had finished Douwsy put the dermal regenerator back on to the trolley. She then looked at the monitor which showed the scan results. “How are you feeling?” The engineer looked at her for a moment before answering. “Um I don’t know. If we do separate, we could extend the SIF breech fields to technically connect both parts of the ship. It would let a heck of a lot of water in though, and we'd have serious repairs before rejoining, but we'd be able to get out. That is providing it works right." Aldlar knew it wasn't the best idea possible, but it was an idea anyway. He still didn't have any hopes for it, knowing that the senior officer would have a better idea. To a degree, the known facts and the lack of any solid reliable information hampered any plan's that might ordinarilly be taking place right now. Contact with the ship had been lost, it's actual location now a mystery and the Vedean's lack of transporter technology preventing the ideal solution of simply beaming back on board again. The idiom 'between a rock and a hard place' came to the fore of the Captain's mind from his collection, it seemed an apt one, if there was a way out of this though then logic would indeed provide it, as invariably it did. Dr Huval had asked about medical facilities and what the Vedean vehicular arrangements were in regards transporting the sick and injured, plus he had made it known that his place right now was back on the ship amongst those injured, whether that was possible right now though remained to be seen. "Once your ship is located Doctor, rest assured that we will be able to get you back on board, our engineers will also help in any way we can to repair the vessel and, if possible, return it into orbit", said Horrel, the Vedean chief of staff as they walked on. The EMH leaned in and began to make its micro-incision into the man’s right eye socket. “Nurse, tell the program that we are going to enter the cavity from the superior lateral rectus and work in from behind the eye. The hemorrhage seems to be from one of the main vessels near the retinal blind spot at the base of the optic nerve.” The nurse began inputting the data into the console. The EMH continued to look at the view screen on top of the surgical support frame, with a micro scalpel peeling back the eye’s protective layer of membrane. “Nurse it appears that there is hemorrhage into the eye, we are going to need to temporarily shunt it to prevent pressure build up.” (Reply Douwsy, iyw) The EMH’s hands made careful work of the delicate procedure, “Nurse, I am making my incision into the Dura mater now and am entering the optic nerve.” As the nurse entered the data, the EMH could feel the SAH moving instruments inside the support frame. A few microscopic units of fluid removed here and there. Pain relieving salve applied with mechanized precision to the opened area every now and again. The SAH was performing functionally, but nowhere near what a sentient counterpart could achieve. It seemed that this was to no lack of the nurse’s skill but rather the program was having a difficult time of keeping up with the EMH. ~I must have the nurse file this with Dr. Huval and Mr. Adams~ “I have entered the optic nerve, now let us see what all this trouble is about.” (Reply Douwsy, more here if you want) “Yes, as I feared,” the EMH took special note of the situation, “but could be worse.” (Reply Douwsy, iyw) “That’s it, the central retinal artery has ruptured, probably when this man was knocked down by the bulkhead. We can make quick work of closing it.” (Reply Douwsy) “Well thankfully the optic nerve itself appears undamaged, and” the EMH made a few more microscopic repairs on the infinitesimally small blood vessel, “done.” The EMH pulled its hands out of the support frame. (Reply Douwsy) The EMH watched the other program as it finished extracting the surgical equipment from the support frame and neatly placed it back on the surgical trolley. Without the ability to see its almost totally silent counterpart, from the EMH’s perspective the small instruments floated their way back to rest on the flat silver tray. “Yes, well, we better make a note of this program’s performance and submit it to the doctor.” (Reply Douwsy) “He must have plenty of bed rest, needs to keep that eye immobilized for about three days until the micro-sutures heal.” The EMH took a hypospray and injected a few more milligrams of sedative into the engineer’s neck. “He’s going to be out for about another four hours. Also he will need several follow-up appointments with the medical staff after he leaves. I’ll alert Mr. H’Chir to the situation when we get the rest of Sickbay settled. He will probably want to know that his department will be short an engineer for a few days.” (Reply Douwsy) “Yes, good work nurse” the EMH stopped in the doorway, “oh and please don’t forget to turn the SAH off.” (Reply Douwsy, any) (Posted by Bobby Pirie) (Vedea IV - Naj'ea City Reception – ACMO, Ensign (JG) Mitchell Huval, DM - 10:36) "Once your ship is located Doctor, rest assured that we will be able to get you back on board, our engineers will also help in any way we can to repair the vessel and, if possible, return it into orbit", said Horrel, the Vedean chief of staff as they walked on. “Thank you,” Mitch motioned towards the engineering and staffer crowd already walking towards the exit. It seemed a wise decision to check out the damage to the hull before looking at the battle bridge. As he turned the corner, Aldlar could see the source of the sound. A hole in the side of the ship revealed the depths of water around it. Aldlar pulled out his tricorder and began to scan the surrounding bulkheads. They seemed strong enough to withstand the pressure. Satisfied, Aldlar put his tricorder away and continued to the battle bridge. He entered the room, noting it's lesser lighting level than the standard bridge. A survey of all the systems would take a while, but for just CONN and sensors, the check would be quick. Aldlar tapped his badge. "Durgil to H'Chir, I've checked the breech, and it seems secure for a good while. The battle bridge is fine, and I've checked that CONN and tactical have power and such. Should we need to, the battle bridge is available." (Reply, H'Chir) "Yes sir. If you want me too, I could begin modifying the internal sensors for a false separation. Your call." "Make it happen Mr Durgil, the contingency of being able to 'fool' the ship if we have to is a definate plus right now.... H'Chir out", he said and then picked up a service kit to make his way to the aft access hatch, his intention now to head up to the service ramps of the matter/antimatter storage assembly's. Briefly, he turned back and cast a beady eye over his domain, everyone was precisely where they were expected to be, and as he looked about, he wondered whether this might possibly be the last time he would look upon them all. Matter/antimatter storage was never easy in a crisis, there was so much to go wrong and even the slightest leak of the containment fields would spell disaster for everyone.... and very probably half of Vedea IV also! Sobering thoughts indeed....The CEO's thought's though were momentarilly sidetracked by a sudden call from sickbay. =/\=Engineering, please respond, this is the Emergency Medical Hologram=/\= H'Chir screwed his face up and then shook his head, had he just heard that correctly.... The EMH seemed unphased at the CEO's tone and simply went on to state certain areas of damage that were indeed not showing on the internal sensors. Surprisingly to the CEO, it appeared that some of the upper decks had suffered some superficial damage also! =/\=..... we are operating mostly on emergency power, main power in this section is down to thirty three percent=/\= the EMH continued. H'Chir took a deep breath and then cast a glance around main engineering once again, then he called to Lieutenant Hernandez who was in the process of closing the hatch he had been working on, indicating that he had now finished the task assigned to him. "Lieutenant Hernandez, see what you can do about shunting extra power to sickbay will you... without jeapordizing any of our forcefields in the process", said H'Chir. "Yessir", came the response, and Hernandez was promptly onto it. "I trust that meets with your satisfaction... umm, Doctor?", said H'Chir, stumbling on the correct address of the EMH once again. Horrel nodded appropriately and then mentioned that they to, utilized similar equipment. "I must be honest, I have little knowledge of your planet's technology, obviously you are warp capable, but what are your medical and biological advancments?", asked Dr Huval. Horrel clasped her hands behind her back, her head turned towards Huval as they walked with the others. "From our own experience, most of the ailments and ill's of species other than our own come about via airborne viral contamination, our own studies have shown that oxidization at a cellular level is responsible for many medical problems amongst air dwelling species such as yourselves..... apart from injury of course", said Horrel, "existing almost permanently beneath the sea, it would seem that we have escaped similar conditions, although we do have our own problems, most of which we have countered successfully", she added. "Have you ever treated a Terran, Vulcan or Andorian before?", asked Huval. "We have not", said Horrel, "until recently, we Vedean's have always preferred the isolation of our undersea world and have only ventured out if the need was there for us to do so. Consequently, we have not had great cause to interact with species other than our own", she added, whilst listening also to the discussion going on between the other Federation officers and her own. "Well, at any rate, once we get a link to Starfleet Command, if there is a problem with the ship and evac of any patients, we should be able to get the data for treating them into your computer banks", said Dr Huval. Horrel nodded once again. "I am sure that it will come in most useful", said Horrel, "the Vedean people are keen to know more of our new neighbours, and likewise in regards offering our assistance in curing your illnesses via our seaborne algae's", she added. (Reply Huval, IYW) Lieutenant Commander Capps then finalized his discussion with the Vedean security chief, who by that time was leading him on to a nearby room. Aldlar began to input commands to the computer, reading sensor readings, and rewrite the protocols of the same system. An attack was at the bottom of the list of wrong things going to happen during this mission. There were a lot of questions that swirled around in the security chief's mind. Who attacked, what is their intention now, where is the Spectre, are the crew members safe, where is the attackign ship now. After the initial conversation from the first minister and the Captian the Captain began to initiate orders. He turned to Lt Cmdr Capps, "Liase with the Vedean security Lieutenant Commander, report to me immediately you have any information and attempt to secure a report to Starfleet command." "Aye sir," Calvin responded immediately. One of the men standing beside the first minister removed himself from the his respected party and moved toward Lt Cmdr Capps. "I am director Nortak of planet security. I will be able to assist you in your orders." "Thank you," the security chief responded. "How do you roam the surface?" The director seemed irritated by the question but answered swiftly. "We do not go to the surface often, Lt Cmdr, but when we must we have Sleds that take us." "What about underwater vehicles?" Calvin continued to understand what resources he had to work with. "We travel submerged with Pods," the directors voice changed. "Lt Cmdr Capps I assure you we are already attempting to locate your ship. Calvin was surprised that with the technology the Vedean's have that a ship the size of the Spectre would be so hard to find once it have crashed onto their planet. "Thank you director, please continue doing whatever is you can do for us. We really appreciate it. Please inform me the second you know more. I ask that you ready a Sled and a Pod for transporting a team to the location as soon as it is located." Calvin attempted to stay diplomatic. "That can be arranged," the director said smoothly and with a nod of his head. The director stepped away. The planets security director approached Calvin again. "Lt Cmdr please follow me, we have set up an emergency office where all of our communications panels are available. I will stay with you and communicate with you whatever my search teams have found." The tricorder was now in active scanning mode and would continue to scan the area around him picking up information about the Vedean technology, even when closed. Adams folded up the tricorder and placed it back on his belt, unnoticed by the ones around him. "Interesting," stated the captain. He then turned to Adams and told him to be prepared. Adams nodded in response. "Their technology sounds interesting. Similar to the bio-neural circuitry found in some class starships in the Federation. The room resembled the rest of the building. There were no edges to be seen. Only curves filled the room design. Even the panels were rounded with smooth surfaces. It felt inviting to Calvin. He felt comfortable being in the room. He walked in a straight line to the panel that Nortak had pointed him to. Lt Cmdr Capps took a second to look at the panel and studied it. Nortak pointed out a few of the commands and explained the common theme of a Vedean computer. Slowly the Security Chief was moving from a jerky motion of his fingers to a smooth motion across the board. As he trusted the First Minister and the Director about the current search and rescue effort, Calvin turned his attention to contacting Starfleet Command. With little experience with the alien board and a little bit of intuition, Lt Cmdr Capps pushed a few commands into the communications panel to open a file to send to Starfleet Command. Calvin began to record his message. Minutes later the message was complete. Unknowing to the Security Chief the 'send' button was resting beside his index finger when he asked Director Nortak for help to transmit the message. "Thanks," finished Calvin. With the first task completed, Calvin would now wait for a response, he moved on to the next task. "Please brief me on the entire search and rescue operation please." Clearly, by careful use of the thrusters as the ship continued it's descent, the Spectre's Helmsman had managed to slow that descent to a minimum and give precious time to the Andorian also. H'Chir knew that any sudden impact before he managed to isolate the intermix chamber completely, would probably jar open the suspected fissure and begin the end for them all, hopefully it wouldn't come to that but as the CEO arrived at the accessway, he found himself praying to Uzaveh himself that he managed the task in good time. To begin with, he took visual stock of the intermix chamber itself through the viewing panel, normally this would not have been possible without eye protection of course but as the warp core was currently offline, nothing was occuring that might blind him. The visual check now completed, H'Chir opened up the status console on the wall, then he began inputting commands to the subprocessor to probe the system. It beeped it's confirmations and threw up a readout on a small system display board, H'Chir scrutinized it closely, noting that the damage seemed to be isolated to the chamber itself on the matter stream inlet. ~Good job we weren't at warp when that happened~ thought H'Chir with relief. "OK", he began, "let's see what we have on the injector manifolds" H'Chir then activated a purge of the matter/antimatter feeds, thus clearing the channels of residual material and isolating the intermix chamber itself from the storage tanks. He then entered more commands into the panel to open up the main access door with a corresponding hiss, click and whine of a motor as the latches released and the door slowly opened. The CEO then climbed into the delicate area whilst hoping that the expected lurch of the ship making contact with mud didn't occur at that precise moment in time. "Feet don't fail me now", said H'Chir as he planted them firmly upon the grating that paved the way to the reaction chamber and began to move towards it. Once there, he entered his manual access codes and then drew a hypospanner from his kit before proceeding then to open up the diagnostic interface. The indicators flashed again, then the computer interjected with a cursory announcement.... just to upset H'Chir, or so it would seem to him. [Warning - The reaction chamber is now unlocked - Proceed with caution] "I know, I know... dumb advice", he muttered, "let me do my job and keep your silicon enhanced bio-neural compounds well away", he added whilst reaching up to repostion the makeshift bandage that was still in place around his forehead. [Please rephrase the last command - Command has not been recognized] "Just be silent", said H'Chir with a frown. [Visual announcement mode is available - would you like to engage this mode?] H'Chir flustered at the computers interference and then looked up to the ceiling, gripping the hypospanner firm in his hand with the frustration of it all. "I would like to engage 'no computer assistance' mode, but if the best you can do is silent visual announcements then please.... by all means", said H'Chir. [Visual announcement mode has been activated] H'Chir then continued on with the task in hand. Further examination though revealed damage to the EPS relays on the matter side of the intermix chamber, this of course meant that he would have to do this manually and at great risk to himself, but if he didn't proceed now, then they were all certainly doomed. H'Chir took a deep breath, then he moved down the line to the primary relay access point, which just happened to be the point that the ship made contact with the mud. The CEO instinctively grabbed hold of one of the conduits nearby, his body swinging as the ship touched down and then lurched slightly over to it's port side. A quick glance to the reaction chamber and it's status display and a sigh of relief later, and the CEO straigntened himself up and tapped at his combadge. The First Minister introduced Lieutenant Adams to Dorell, one of the engineers posted at the government palace, and then left him alone with the Vedean engineer. "So tell me more about this," said Adams holding up a long plastic rod. "That is a Fortelle," responded Dorell. "It is used in Bastilla hunting. It makes ultrasonic sounds which attract them." He held out his hand and Adams handed the rod over to him. He slid his fingers over the rod and it started bending and reforming into a flat round object with sharp jagged teeth. "This is a Fortalla. It is the trap that is used once the creature is within range." Adams was astonished at how what seemed to be a solid object could transform into an almost completely different object. "Wow. That's astonishing." "Ahh...yes," responded the Vedean engineer. "What you perceive as a solid, is actually a conglomeration of single celled organisms. It is the basis for all of our technology. We have learned how to program these cells in order to change shape and reorder themselves to serve many different purposes. The cells have limited memory, so they can only be programmed to form a few shapes. But when hooked up to our computers, the cells can become virtually anything." "Interesting," said Adams getting out his tricorder and turning off the active scanning mode. He then took a scan of the equipment. He could now make out that all the equipment in the room was of similar material. What looked like solid plastic, was actually made up a living organisms. "Can you show me how they are programmed?" Dorell went over and picked up one of the portable computer screens. Upon it were floating various symbols that Adams didn't understand. "This is the programming language of the organism. This list is the object codes. We have a series of pre-programmed algorithms..." "Hold on..." said Adams holding up his hands. "Too much detail. There's no way I'm going to come up to speed on your programming. Just apply one of your programs to a set of organisms. For example, this, what did you call it? A Fortella?" "Fortalla," corrected Dorell. The Vedean engineer tapped a few times on his portable screen and the flat trap transformed into another portable computer screen." Lieutenant Adams was amazed and kept collecting information on his tricorder. Dorell and Adams kept talking for what seemed like hours. An audible reply from the computer alerted him that he had succeeded. Aldlar didn't know if minutes or hours had passed, but decided it must've been the latter, due to soreness in his sitting regions. As he stood, A slight wave of dizziness passed over him, and Aldlar had to brace himself before he fell. ~Been sitting to long.~ Aldlar began to walk around the bridge, stretching his muscles for a minute, stopping by various consoles and seeing their readouts. They all showed that the ship was separated, and awaited command authorization to take control. Satisfyed with his work, Aldlar tapped his comm badge. "Durgil to H'chir. I've finished the changes. The computer thinks we've separated, and full control is ready to be routed to the battle bridge."
