Stop you spreading the infection.” He leaned forward towards the view screen and grinned back. =^=What you think that we are the only ones. There are hundreds of us spreading this gift around the federation=^= “A gift! You would be willing to but every one’s life at risk that is not the Grayjoy that I know.” =^=But I am a new different person that I was before. I have been reborn a new so to speak. “The Grayjoy that I know would never do this. He would never put people at risk, he would die first.” =^=Jay you don’t seem to understand. It is you not I that will die and once you have been reduced to space dust I will take the Specter and then Wrath. Which will then take Starbase 39-Sierra and from there the quadrant=^= Jay suppressed a shiver that ran through her at what Grayjoy was saying. =^= Now all I need you is to die and I can get on with the rest of my day=^= She leaned forward and gave a predatory grin. “Come and give it your best shot.” She cut the comm channel and glanced around her bridge. Audrey was at the helm with Anya at tactical. The rest of the crew was at stations around the ship. “Anya launch the two Unmanned Multimode Tactical Support Craft and have them in a screening pattern in front of us.” “Yes Skipper.” She looked over at Audrey. “We need to get close as we can. That ice has reinforced their hull. We are needing get close to have any effect but we are no match for a head on slug fest. We need to run in hit them and then dart out again.” “Understood Skipper. Setting up combat runs.” She waited for a moment as they readied themselves. “Okay let’s get them.” (Reply any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Serenity - Bridge - CO, L.T. Commander Grayjoy - 10:05) Grayjoy gripped the console in front of his as the Serenity bucked hard and another alarm screamed. Things were not going as he had planned. Although the unmanned multimode tactical support craft had immolated each other in the first few minutes of the battle it had not changed the outcome of the fight. The Serenity was larger and had more firepower then the Charon she was far less manoeuvrable especially with the large amount of ice there was on board. He glanced at the tactical plot on his console and saw the Charon was coming around for another pass trying to take out her engines. “Bring her around get us on to heading 194. Fire pattern bravo two.” His orders were followed and he saw the Serenity bring herself onto the new heading as he glanced down at the plot as the two ships raced towards each other. “Fire phaseres.” Phaser beams streaked out form both ships as they passed each stabbing deep into each other. The Serenity bucked and shook, consoles over loaded and fresh alarms began to wail. “Sir, port and aft shields have failed and we have hull breaches on multiple decks.” “Seal the breaches and get me the shields back. Helm pattern omega five lest try and keep her way from the port side.” He looked at plot to see where the Charon had gotten to and he grinned he saw the sensor data. The Charon was badly hurt, gas and debree was spewing from deep holes in its hull. From the scan results it looked like main power was fluctuating widely and with that much sensor and weapon system damage he was sure that they were blinded and virtually toothless. ~Now let’s end this~ “Turn us towards them. We will finish this.” He saw the Serenity line up with the Charon as it charged in for the final strike. He glanced over at the helmswoman as she uttered a curse. “Sir the other is on a collision course.” He paused for a split second thinking of options before giving his orders. “Understood prepare to dodge on my command. I want you to role the ship so that starboard weapons can target her as we go past.” “Yes Captain.” He watch as the damaged ships charged madly towards each other eating up the distance with as much speed as their damaged engines could produce. ~Come on, come on. A little close~ He watched as the distance decreased. “On my mark role the ship.” “Yes Sir.” He watched as the ships began to pass each other. “Mark.” He felt the Serenity spin as the manoeuvring thrusters kicked in. “Sir the other ship is rotating with us.” He watched as the Charon rotated at the same time keeping its self on his damaged port. Then with horror he watched as it turned sharply and slammed into aft section of the ship smashing the impulse engines and taking out a warp naccele. He was thrown bodily across the bridge by the impact and connected hard with a bulk head. Consoles exploded around him as the bridge lights flared brightly and then plunged the room into darkness. (Reply any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Deck 4, Research Lab - ENS Alexander – 10:29) The Security Chief was an imposing presence, one that made Will a little nervous. When he had been on the Spectre, 6 years prior, before the accident, the security chief then, a Lt. Commander Pierce Horatio Orde, was a lot less of an intimidating presence. The fact that Will's uncertainty in the plan was not sitting well with the Klingon officer was making well nervous. "Sir if I may, I remain confident in the plan, it is just a very ambitious plan and if it goes off without a hitch, your security team will not have any issue. I've run this simulation a few times before you arrived, and each time it should success rates between 70 and 90% using base frequencies I've gathered from earlier briefings. Will it work yes, but I would feel much better if we had a frequency that could reach closer to 99% or 100% of disabling the station." Will paused, "Once Doc gives me his frequency, I can run another simulation and see what happens. I know this plan will take out the crew, but don't know what it might do with the parasite anatomy. Not to mention, if there might be any unnecessary casualties among the Starbase Crew. So uncertain, no, I am not, we will have minimal resistance. Collateral damages, that is what I am uncertain off, what variables there might be. But with Lt Palmer and Commander Williams, I am certain this will work." (reply Kerge) "Sir, I am willing to go through any concerns you may have, to make this plan perfect before arrival, and will personally be on the shuttle to make sure it works." (Reply Kerge) (reply Kerge, Palmer, Williams, Sorensen, any) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre – Deck 4, Research Lab - TAC/SC, Kerge – 10:29) Kerge had forebodings about this mission, that much was obvious. Sending a pulse through the entire station to incapacitate its considerable compliment, sounded like madness. But then, madness was the Klingon's middle name these days, and if nothing else, it would make for an honourable victory if they could pull it off. Alexander and Palmer had both seemed confidant that it 'would' work when discussing this in the briefing, but it was still a gamble indeed if it didn't for they might all well arrive in the midst of a fully active crew, all with their weapons drawn! Striding into the research lab, Kerge arrived to catch the beginnings of Alexander's simulation, which he was explaining to those assembled with an eagerness that instilled confidence of success, and yet still failed to convince the battle hardened Klingon security chief. The officers duly acknowledged him as he arrived, but considering the fact that all he could really do at this time was 'familiarise', he chose to simply nod and then lean against a nearby console to just listen. (Reply Any, IYW) Alexander continued on, describing his plan about using the EPS conduits to increase the effectiveness of the disabling pulse itself. It made some degree of sense, even to Kerge, and the nods of approval from the others did not go unnoticed. And then Alexander trashed it.... "The problem is, I don't know if it will work, and we would have to have the exact right frequency to hit the conduit in order for it to start the cascade, but I don't know what that frequency would be or if it is the best plan." Kerge exhaled heavily, shifting his bulk from the console to stand before offering his thoughts... "So, you are telling us that your confidence in this plan working is now uncertain?", he asked, "after displaying a reasonable certainty in the briefing that it would, you're now saying that unless we hit the correct frequency, we might be boarding a station that is fully aware, and worse, that might be entirely infected with a cognisant parasite", he added, clearly uneasy now at the tactical uncertainties of this mission. "And how do we ascertain the correct frequency?" Williams then chipped in saying that he didn't think that the frequency itself would be a problem. But Kerge remained unconvinced... (Reply Alexander, Palmer, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre – Deck 4, Research Lab - TAC/SC, Kerge – 10:31) Kerge shrugged his shoulders at Alexander's attempts as reassuring him. It wasn't that he didn't trust the man to get things right, no, far from it, it was just that he had learnt that odds, like truthful politicians, were a bit of a misnomer that rarely turned out to be factual in reality. After all, lives might hang on this mission and it was imperative that any odds were high enough to maintain a level of safety that Kerge himself felt comfortable with. It was all pointless anyway. The CO had given his go-ahead on the mission, so the ever dutiful Klingon would tow the line so to speak. Alexander then continued on, explaining that he had concerns that although the planned pulse might incapacitate the crew, it might not incapacitate the parasitic lifeforms in their hosts, prompting a shake of the head from Kerge as he exhaled heavily once more. It was going from bad to worse, and yet, the mission HAD been given the go-ahead. There was however one saving grace in the Ensigns previous statement, and it had nothing at all to do with odds, and everything to do with control. Something that Kerge felt far more comfortable with. "If the crew are incapacitated, then the parasites are robbed of their means to get about in any other way than exiting their hosts, and slithering across the floor like the useless and dishonourable slime that they are", he stated. "No need then for a phasor, just a quick stomp with a heavy boot", he added, finally feeling some optimism for the mission at hand. "Sir, I am willing to go through any concerns you may have, to make this plan perfect before arrival, and will personally be on the shuttle to make sure it works.", said Alexander, as though trying to appease the Klingon in some way, shape or form. Which was probably the case... "No need", grunted Kerge, "I suggest that you just ascertain the frequency required to incapacitate the crew alone. If need be, my boot will take care of the rest", he added, before turning about and exiting the lab with the usual lack of finesse typical of a Klingon suffering from a bad case of toothache. "Keep me appraised of any progress", he added, and then he was gone... (Reply Alexander, Any IYW) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre – Research Lab – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams – 10:34) "No need" Grunted Kerge. "I suggest that you just ascertain the frequency required to incapacitate the crew alone. If need be, my boot will take care of the rest" "Keep me appraised of any progress" Kerge added as he left. Andrew gave himself a flicker of a smile as the Klingon departed. ~Good to know we have a simple solution~ He turned to Alexander and the others as he handed him the PADD. “Here is all the information that we have about the parasite and their frequencies.” He paused for a moment. “As you can see form the data we do have what looks like the right frequency but there might be a variation on the band width to get it totally right.” He indicated the frequency carrier wave. “We might have to tweak it slightly as we activate it.” He shrugged. “This has not been tried before and this the best we have with the information that is available.” (Reply Alexander, Palmer, Sorensen any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor and TAC/SC, Kerge - 11:45) The Captain arrived on the bridge in a pensive mood, if one of Vulcan heritage could ever appear pensive, that is. Taking his seat as it was relinquished by the ranking bridge officer, he immediately began pulling up schematics on his armrest console to bring himself up to speed on the tactical situation. Then he opened a ship-wide communication to the crew. "This is the Captain", he began. "As you are aware, the ship is now en route to Starbase 39-Sierra, a station we strongly suspect to have become compromised by a parasitic organism currently infiltrating the command structures of the Federation", he added, pausing then before continuing once again. "The ship is now 2 hours from SB and we are slowing to warp 4. Our forward tactical team is preparing for launch as we speak, their goal, to assess and neutralise any threat on the station before our arrival. There is, however, a small possibility that we too may have become infected by this parasite, so I am asking you all, be aware of everyone that you work with. Report anything out of the ordinary to your immediate superiors and remain vigilant. SB 39-Sierra in 2 hours. Captain out" T'Vhor then opened a channel to the hanger deck and the awaiting team thereof. "Mr Kerge", he began. "Are you ready for launch?" =/\=Aye sir. Awaiting your final order=/\= "Very good. And Mr Alexander. Is the program ready for execution?" (Reply Alexander) "Then all that remains is for me to bid you 'Good Hunting', maintain radio silence for the next 2 hours. We will await the coded response as agreed and will stand by for further communications pending a successful outcome of your mission. Captain out" (Reply Any) The Captain then settled back into his seat, wondering what the next few hours might bring them... (Reply Alexander, Any) (Posted by Alan) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Cockpit - OPS, Ensign Will Alexander - 11:46) Will sat in the Shuttle cockpit at the helm, there was an away team seated the back, consisiting of the Klingon tactical officer, the CSO, the CMO, and a few others including a group of tactical officers.. They were ready for departure, a mission that would be both dangerous, and illuminating, or so they hoped. =/\=Mr. Kerge", he began. "Are you ready for launch?=/\= Came the captain over the comm. "Aye sir. Awaiting your final order." was the reply from Kerge. =/\=Very good. And Mr Alexander. Is the program ready for execution?=/\= "Yes sir, it is ready to go as soon as we are within striking distance." Will replied. He was eager to get the mission started. =/\=Then all that remains is for me to bid you 'Good Hunting', maintain radio silence for the next 2 hours. We will await the coded response as agreed and will stand by for further communications pending a successful outcome of your mission. Captain out=/\= "Alright folks,The course is laid in and ready to go, any last minute details before we get underway."
