Will stopped briefly in Ten Forward for a light lunch. He didn't want to go be daring on an empty stomach. As he sat with his sandwich he couldn't help but reflect on the first time he left the Spectre on one of her support crafts. It was years ago. 6 years to be exact. Almost six years to the day. Stardate 2406.11.06. Will had just boarded the Spectre for the first time as her CONN/OPS chief. He had been promoted to full ensign. This was after brief stays (less than a day on one, a little over a day on the other) on the USS Cochrane and the USS Mystique. He was asked by the CO, at the time a then Captain Remae Ktell to take a shuttlecraft out and survey the Spectre's hull. Whether it was the same Remae who was recently the Spectre First Officer, or a different one, Will didn't know. There were apparantley more Remae Ktell's in existance than there were Will Alexanders and there were two of him. He went with the science officer Garrison Ronsworth. They joined the Spectre at the same time. Where Garry was these days Will didn't know, and neither did the original. They took the runnabout Evangeline. It was like yesterday. Will rcould remember as he began to prep the Evangeline for flight, turning on this system and that, pressing panels and starting the engines. "Well, lets see what the Spectre's been up to." Ronsworth said as Will sat at the helm. Ronsworth sat at the operations panel. Why he still remembered those words, Will didn't know. ~What ever happened to Garry?~ As Will continued his trip down memory lane, he could picture in his head as Garry tapped the hale frequency, "USS Spectre flight control, this is the runabout USS Evangeline requesting departure protocol and clearance." =^=Acknowledged Evangeline."=^= The crewman's voice was rusty and deep over the comm channel. Garry looked at Will. "Spectre, Evangeline is heading it out." Will then took the Evangeline out into space. The memories flooding Will at this moment were a reminder that he was excited as he could be. He took the ship out a bit and then set a course for the front of the ship. He was going to do an overhead pass, and scan and then go underneath the ships, check the sides, and then ultimately the warp nacelles. They went through there scan, the image they saw as they returned to the hangar bay is one Will, in any of his incarnations would never forget. There was a multitude of stars all gathering outside the window, in this multitude was the Mystique. She was beautiful. As the Evangeline cleared the dorsal side of the Spectre the Mystique was eclipsed. The Mystique was a beauty, but that was the moment Will fell in love with the Spectre. Will finished his sandwich and quietly left ten forward. The time for memories was over. He had a Mission. (reply none) (posted by Will Banowsky) (ShuttleCraft Shade - Cockpit - Ensign Will Alexander - 11:40) Will was silent in the Shuttlecraft. Soon they would be leaving. Everything was ready to go, all equipment loaded, and the shuttle would soon be ready to depart.Still Will was a bit nervous. More so than normal. This would be his first away mission since the Phantom. Since he woke up on the Phantom, since he woke up in someone else's body. He never made it back. Well he did, but he didn't. The real Will made it home, but he, his memories, a copy of his brain scan, who he was, stuck in the transporter for years. It was 2406, 8 years ago, to the day, 2406.11.12. The day, he made it to the Phantom, in someone else's body, that changed everything, and gave birth to him, the copy, that never got to be returned. Even if he was a form of transporter duplicate, the memories were real, and since no time passed for him, for his mind, it was still fresh, there. What was years to everyone else, was mere months to him. He was confused on the bridge of the Phantom, a Spectre class ship, so much so he ran into the ready room when he started to realize he wasn't on the Spectre anymore. On that day he entered the ready room just in time to see his worst fears realized, he wasn't on the Spectre, the Spectre was right in front of his eyes. He peered out the window and saw his ship just sitting there; no, Will was remembering clearly it was turning around. He could remember how it felt when his heart sank when he saw the ship disappear as the cloaking device was activated. It was gone, and here he was stuck on the ship that he could only assume was the USS Phantom. He remembered being depressed. He knew and confirmed he was in someone else's body. The body of a commander. Not his, but of Steve Furrows. A man so manipulative and driven his personnel file had a Commanding Officers note that read: Commander Steve Furrows is by far one of the most ambitious, manipulative, and conniving officers I have ever had. He is untrustworthy and unfit to be anyone’s First Officer, Second Officer, or even Third Officer. Hell he would sell his own mother just to get his own command. He will also most likely never get it as no one can trust him, all the time anyways. Besides that he is a very brilliant strategist, and that’s the only reason why I have him onboard this ship in the first place. Of course he is always under constant surveillance, and I will never have less then two security officers watching him at any time. Eventually Will was able to get the Spectre Crew back to their bodies. But the damage was done. He would never make it back. Will did, this Will, whoever he was, did not and it made him nervous. ~Just don't be too overeager. Listen to Kerge and don't put your foot in your mouth.~ Of course nearly 20 minutes later Will would do just that. (Reply none) (Posted by Will Banowsky) (Shuttlecraft Shade – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 11:49) Andrew sat at the back of the shuttle. He had his kit stored next to him and a PADD in his hand. Had made sure that he was ready for any medical eventuality as he was not going to lose anyone on this mission. He heard the communication between Will and the Captain and was happy that they were ready to get going. He was never good a waiting for things to start and would be happy once the shuttle had taken off. =/\=Then all that remains is for me to bid you 'Good Hunting', maintain radio silence for the next 2 hours. We will await the coded response as agreed and will stand by for further communications pending a successful outcome of your mission. Captain out=/\= "Alright folks, The course is laid in and ready to go, any last minute details before we get underway." “Nothing new from medical. Apart from the obvious.” He said with a small grin. (reply any) (reply any) (posted by Robbie Gray) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Crew compartment - TAC/ASC, Ensign Michael Sorenson - 11:50) Michael sat in the back of the shuttle ready to depart on what would be his first away mission. His leg jogged up and down whilst he checked his gear for the third time. His lively leg did not go unnoticed by one of the other security members. "First away mission?" The woman said. The ensign nodded. "Yeah. The anticipation is killing me." Michael listened as the captain conversed with the senior members, eventually giving the go-ahead. Ensign Alexander, the man at the helm, opened his comm to the crew in the back. "Alright folks, the course is laid in and ready to go. Any last minute details before we get underway?" The pilot asked. Michael flicked a non-existent piece of dirt off of his phaser pistol. "Only one question, sir." He said whilst holsterinf the phaser. "What are the rules of engagement. Can we expect to be gunning down anything in our way or what?" (Reply Will, Any) (Posted by Brandon) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Cockpit - CSO, Lt JG Kurt Palmer - 11:50) The tense energy in the shuttle craft could be felt by everyone onboard. Kurt sat just behind Ensign Alexander in the small shuttle cockpit. His job on this mission was to keep track of computer systems. Not his forte, but it fell under the sciences umbrella. There was some routine chatter between the bridge and the shuttle crew, and then came T'Vhor voice over the comm- =/\=Good Hunting...will stand by for further communications...Captain out=/\= The comm closed, and Ensign Alexander called back to the crew onboard "...Course is laid in and ready to go, any last minute details before we get underway?" A few quick quips and they were on their way. (No reply required) ((Post by Cody)) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Cockpit - OPS, Ensign Will Alexander - 12:00) There had been no need for any uncessary delays. Will had masterfully taken the shuttlecraft out of the Spectre hangar bay and into space, following along the plotted course with a speed quick enough to get them to their destination on time, but not too quick so as to be detected ahead of time. He was happy to be on the away team, happy to be off the ship. At the controls however, he couldn't help but wonder what sort of missions he might of had, had he not been a transporter duplicate of the mind, memories, and personality of the original Will Alexander. Still it gave him a chance to forge a new path, his own path, and in a way make up for what he thought might have been mistakes made by his counterpart. When they were a decent distance away from the shuttlecraft, Will turned to face the rest of the away team. "Everyone make sure you have your emergency transporter armbands, once we are aboard I'll keep the shuttlecraft in a holding pattern. Setting One will beam you directly there, setting two will get you to the Spectre if it is in Range and her Shields are down. Once the pulse hits the base, I'll lower shields and we will start beaming over, then I'll head in with a small team to take over stations communications, make sure no SOS goes out, and monitor any transmission going in. If that is ok with you Lieutenant Kerge." (reply Kerge) "Palmer, Williams, and Sorensen, I'd like you with me. Once we get communications undercontrol, I will let you know Lieutenant." (Reply Kerge, any) "Did I miss anything) (reply any) (Reply Kerge, Any) (posted by Will Banowsky) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Cockpit - TAC/SC, Lt Kerge - 12:02) Armbands. Yes, a good contingency to have given that they were soon to be beaming aboard a station possibly infested with bugs, albeit within host Human, Betazoid, Vulcan and whichever other species were based there. Needless to say though, Kerge was glad to be wearing one right now. It just wouldn't do for a warrior to be taken over by a bug, after all... Alexander had just finished the low-down on the devices in question, detailing the various settings and how they would whisk the wearer back to the Spectre. Then he went on to outline the mission that he had designed before querying for authorisation with the ranking officer, who happened to be the Klingon Security Chief. Kerge, nodded once to imply that he was OK with that, and then he tightened up the securing strap of the armband to make sure that it would not break lose in a fight. "Palmer, Williams, and Sorensen, I'd like you with me. Once we get communications under control, I will let you know Lieutenant." Kerge straightened up his shoulders at that, a slightly indignant look upon his face. It almost seemed as though Alexander had just remarked that HE would not be going with them to the station, or was it that he was implying that they would break into two teams? A plan that would not exactly be the best of choices, considering their obvious need for the tactical superiority of numbers amongst an unknown number of assailants. Kerge looked to his armband once again, wondering as he did so, why he was actually wearing one if he was not going to be expected to 'tangle' with the enemy on this mission. "Excuse me, Ensign. Run that by me again", said Kerge, "If I were not mistaken, I could have sworn that you were implying that I, a Klingon, would not be moving through the station with you..." (Reply Alexander) (Reply Alexander, Any) (Posted by Alan) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Cockpit - Ops, Ensign Will Alexander - 12:03) "Excuse me, Ensign. Run that by me again", said Kerge, "If I were not mistaken, I could have sworn that you were implying that I, a Klingon, would not be moving through the station with you..." "My apologies sir, I assumed incorrectly that you would be heading with the other security officer to secure OPS and other parts of the Starbase. That is my fault for assuming and jumping the gun. I'm just being overeager sir. Again my apologies. I defer to your orders. I thought this would be a solid plan that could free your team up for more important areas of the Starbase." (Reply Kerge) "Sir, is there any amendments to my plan, or I guess, sir, what are your orders. (Reply Kerge) Will was thoroughly embarrassed but it would be ok. Hopefully the mission would go so well no one would remember him speaking out of turn. (Reply Kerge, any) (posted by WB) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Cockpit - TAC/SC, Lt Kerge - 12:04) Kerge, tugged at his uniform tunic, and then looked to Lenson, who until that moment anyway had assumed that he would either be remaining aboard the shuttle also, or remaining on watch in some loading bay until they got the signal that comms had been established. Alexander was certainly headstrong, the Klingon would give him that at least, and although his plan made sense, the fact that the little details had been omitted at the final briefing disconcerted him a little. Then again, perhaps it was just Kerge being a typical nit-picky, analytical Klingon. After all, Klingon genes invariably expected nothing less when it came to the possibility of losing life or limb. "No. No it is quite OK", said Kerge, in response to Alexander's offer to amend things. "I assumed incorrectly in regards your intentions, although I am still not sure that it would be entirely prudent to split into separate teams, given that we still don't know what to expect on the station, or indeed, whether your plan to incapacitate our foe will even be successful.", he added. (Reply Alexander, IYW) Kerge nodded, just as Williams, who had until then remained silent, offered some constructive criticism. "Shall we get this show on the road?", he offered... Kerge had never understood the Human need for Idioms to describe the obvious, although he had noted that their CO seemed to have an interest in them, which was most illogical... "Let us hope that the curtain does not come down upon us all during our performance", said Kerge, inadvertently offering an idiom of his own. (Reply Williams, IYW) So it was all crystal clear now then. He, Lenson, Haringey and Kirien would proceed to Ops, whilst Alexander took Sorenson, Palmer and Williams to secure the communication hub. A doctor on both teams would make sense thought Kerge. Just in case.... (Reply Alexander, Williams, Any) (Posted by Alan) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Cockpit – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 12:05) "Excuse me, Ensign. Run that by me again" Andrew hid his smile as Kerge spoke. "If I were not mistaken, I could have sworn that you were implying that I, a Klingon, would not be moving through the station with you..." ~Once a Klingon has made up his made it is nearly impossible to change it~ "My apologies sir, I assumed incorrectly that you would be heading with the other security officer to secure OPS and other parts of the Starbase. That is my fault for assuming and jumping the gun. I'm just being overeager sir. Again my apologies. I defer to your orders. I thought this would be a solid plan that could free your team up for more important areas of the Starbase." He kept the smile off his face as he half listened to both of them until they had finished before speaking. “Shall we get this show on the road?” (Reply Kerge, Alexander any) (Posted by Robbie) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Cockpit – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 12:06) "Let us hope that the curtain does not come down upon us all during our performance", said Kerge. Andrew nodded and gave a quick smile. “That would definately spoil our little trip.” Andrew glanced around the shuttlecraft looking at Alexander, Sorenson and Palmer whom he would be joining as part of the communication team whilst Kerge, Lenson, Haringey and Kirien would go for OPS. He understood the reason why the team was spilt but that did not mean that he liked it. At least Kirien was going so it meant that medical was covered but as CMO he still would have liked to have everyone in one group so that he could see them all. He gave a soft sigh as he came to terms that he could not have everything his own way and that he would just have to deal with it the best he could. (Reply Any) (Posted by Robbie) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Cockpit - CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 13:30) Andrew took a calming breath as the shuttle arrived at its predetermined holding pattern with the station. It had been a tense transit and he was glad that they had arrived without being noticed. ~Now all we need is to get through a crowded starbase which may or may not be crawling with infected, disable said infected and then get away. What could possible go wrong with that~ He picked up his medical kit hoping that he would not need it and checked his emergency transporter armbands to make sure that he would be as invisible as he hope he would be. ~No time like the present~ He stepped out of his seat and stood where the transporter would be able to lock on to him properly and looked at Alexander “Will shall we get on.” (Reply Alexander, Kerge, any) (POsted by Robbie) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Cockpit - CSO, LLt JG, Kurt Palmer - 13:30) The shuttle glided into position, and Ensign Alexander sprang into action. He was in charge on this mission for obvious reasons. The cockpit buzzed as they executed their carefully choreographed plan. The science chief monitored his console as the pulse was brought online. Orders flew back and forth around the small space. "Lt. Palmer, I need you to monitor the shuttle's systems, make sure as the pulse is readied that we don't fry our own systems. Is that alright." Kurt's hands travelled up to the small display to his left. "On it." As they readied their "invasion" Ensign Alexander moved to the back of the craft... To make some adjustments. "That way in case we overload the shuttle, the transporter should still be operational. Just a precaution." Kurt glanced back down to his console. Things were going smoothly and on track. (Reply, any) ((Post by Cody)) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Cockpit - OPS, Ensign Will Alexander - 13:32) The Spectre arrived at the Station. It made the small shuttle look insignificant. He stealthily positioned the Shade into a holding pattern just outside the EPS conduit that they would relay the pulse to, the casade of which would render the station crew incapacitated. Allowing them to move along without trouble. He would then beam the crew over, and they would get to work. As they stopped the CMO went to the transporter pad to beam over. “Will shall we get on.” "Not quite doctor, we need to initiate the pulse through the shuttle's system, and incapacitate the crew." Will replied, as he began inputting the sequence. They had tested it, and the simulations showed it working, but Will knew the horrors that could happen on a mission. As he closed his eyes to breathe before begining the first step, all he could focus on was what he used to look like, not Will Frost's face, but his own, and how he would never see that face in the mirror again. "Alright, I'm beginning power up sequence on the Pulse. Dr. Williams, can you head over to the engineering console next to Lt. Kerge and input your frequency." (Reply Williams) "Lt. Palmer, I need you to monitor the shuttle's systems, make sure as the pulse is readied that we don't fry our own systems. Is that alright." (reply Palmer) "Ensign Sorensen, I need you to take the helm for a moment," Will said as he left his seat. "She's in a holding pattern, make sure she stays that way." (Reply sorensen) "Lt. Kerge, I've routed the pulse to be operated through the main phaser array, you will have a flashing green light when she is ready to fire. The coordinates should already be locked on." (Reply Kerge) Will then went to the back near the transporter and opened up a panel. "I'm going to isolate the transporter from the rest of the Shuttles systems. That way in case we overload the shuttle, the transporter should still be operational. Just a precaution." (reply any) As he began working on isolating the transporter, he looked to make sure everyone was in position. "Alright, whenever it's ready, lets hope this thing works." (reply Kerge, Sorensen, Palmer, Williams) (reply Kerge, Sorensen, Palmer, Williams, any) (posted by Will B.) (USS Spectre – Bridge – OPS Officer, Ensign, Robert Smith - 13:33) The bridge had been quiet since the away team had left. Robert had tracked its progress until it would out of range. He was now using estimated times as they had not direct communication with the shuttle. ~Ow I hope this goes okay~ He did not look forward to the idea of storming an infected station to try and get the away team back. He ran another diagnostic on the operation system partly to check in case there was any unknown faults that might affect the system when most needed but also to keep him occupied and to stop him from worrying. His console blinked at him and he focused on the console. ~Okay so its started~ He looked over at T’Vhor. “Captain the away team should be at their holding position at Starbase 39-Sierra now unless they have come across anything unforeseen on their transit.” (Reply T’Vhor) (Reply any) (Posted by Robbie) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Cockpit - TAC/SC, Lt Kerge - 13:34) Kerge watched as the CMO, seemingly eager to depart now, moved towards the transport pad. Seeing him though in his usual relaxed and casual manner was strange to the big Klingon, indeed it always was, and it would have been easy to think that the medic himself was not a fully qualified Commander, thus making Kerge himself his subordinate. “Will, shall we get on.” he had said, no trace of nerves in his voice at all. Kerge admired that in the Doctor and it was a refreshing change to see a hint of a warrior spirit in one not normally thought of as being a warrior type. Or was Williams just a gifted actor, quaking in his boots? "Not quite doctor, we need to initiate the pulse through the shuttle's system, and incapacitate the crew.", said Alexander, halting the Doctor in his tracks before proceeding to power up the equipment that would hopefully allow them all to beam safely onto the station with the minimum of fuss. "Alright, I'm beginning power up sequence on the Pulse. Dr. Williams, can you head over to the engineering console next to Lt. Kerge and input your frequency." Williams duly nodded and then did as he had been bade. "Lt. Palmer, I need you to monitor the shuttle's systems, make sure as the pulse is readied that we don't fry our own systems. Is that alright?", said the erstwhile Ensign, and again, Palmer took up his relevant position and began accessing the information displayed to him on the panel, as Alexander himself handed off the helm to Ensign Sorensen whilst he busied himself with the relevant panel. "Lt. Kerge, I've routed the pulse to be operated through the main phaser array, you will have a flashing green light when she is ready to fire. The coordinates should already be locked on." Kerge identified the indicator accordingly, and then he nodded to affirm that he was ready as Alexander moved to the rear of the shuttle to isolate the transporter circuits from the rest of the crafts systems. Will then went to the back near the transporter and opened up a panel. "Alright, whenever it's ready, lets hope this thing works.", came the response from the rear, leaving Kerge once again uncertain as to whether it actually would... (Reply Any, IYW) (P0sted by Alan) (USS Spectre – Bridge – CO, Captain T'Vhor - 13:35) So far, so good, thought the Captain as he sat in the command chair observing the readouts from the latest batch of analytical computations he'd been running on the statistical risks of Alexander's mission not going to plan. Anticipating changes in the computational data though had proved pointless in the long run, and as he broke away from the readout to glance towards the viewscreen, the Ops officer offered a brief report. "Captain the away team should be at their holding position at Starbase 39-Sierra now", he offered, "unless they have come across anything unforeseen on their transit.” "Indeed", said the Captain. "With radio silence a necessity though, we cannot possibly know", he added, pondering briefly. (Reply Any, IYW) "Have we monitored any unusual comms traffic at all?", he asked, his thoughts now that if anything had occurred to the shuttle en route, someone might have made mention of it. (Reply Smith) (Posted by Alan) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Crew Compartment - TAC/ASC, Ensign Sorenson - 13:35) Michael had been quiet during the flight. He had always had a case of motion sickness since as long as he can remember. And while the use of gyroscopes and inertia dampeners should fix such problems, he continued to suffer. He knew it was in his head, but as long as he knew he was in motion, he often felt queasy. So the ensign had spent the majority of the flight with his eyes closed, focusing on the pulsing that is noticeable on every starship. The plan was for half the team to head to the station ops whilst the other half made their way to communications. With the addition of the pulse-whose science was beyond Michael-the station would be easily gained. In theory. "Ensign Sorensen, I need you to take the helm for a moment," Will said as he left his seat. "She's in a holding pattern, make sure she stays that way." The voice of the pilot shook him from his musings. "Yes, sir." He said, standing. He made his way to the pilot's seat, ensuring the shuttle remained in its position. After a short while, the talk from the rear sounded as though the plan was ready. Michael had a thought he wanted to bring up. "So, er. What's the plan if things go totally wrong?" (Reply Any) (Posted by Brandon) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Cockpit - CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 13:36) "Alright, I'm beginning power up sequence on the Pulse. Dr. Williams, can you head over to the engineering console next to Lt. Kerge and input your frequency." Andrew nodded. “Okay.” As Alexander gave instruction to the others he moved back to his seat and picked up the PADD. He opened the file that he needed and scanned the frequency setting once more. He knew it by heart but this was not something that he wanted to get wrong. "I'm going to isolate the transporter from the rest of the Shuttles systems. That way in case we overload the shuttle, the transporter should still be operational. Just a precaution." ~Sensible precaution~ He moved over to the engineering console next to Kerge and imputed the frequency setting into the system. ~There we go~ "Alright, whenever it's ready, lets hope this thing works." “The sequence is entered.” (Reply Alexander) ~I hope this works~ (reply Kerge, Sorensen, Palmer, Alexander) (reply Kerge, Sorensen, Palmer, Alexander, any) (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Bridge – OPS, Ensign Robert Smith - 13:37) "Indeed", said the Captain. Michael must have checked his weapons at least five times in the last few minutes. His pre-mission jitters had completely disappeared by now, replaced by anticipation. Some technical jargon was exchanged between the other occupants, something about isolating and frequencies. The doctor confirmed that everything was ready to go. "The sequence is entered." Michael nodded, curious as to what would happen. "Understood, sir. So this pulse will be eliminating the majority of resistance we may run into?" (Reply Williams, Any) (Posted by Brandon) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Cockpit - CSO, Lt JG, Kurt Palmer - 13:39) "The sequence is entered." Came Doctor Williams from the back of the shuttle. (NRPG: Room here) There was a brief exchange between the officers. The science chief's hands hovered over the science console as display blinked and chirped into lively animation; the first part of their plan was in motion. After a moment Kurt chimed in "We are operating within safe thresholds." He clicked a blue square at the bottom of his console to flip through a few vital readouts. (Reply, any present) ((Post by Cody)) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Cockpit – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 13:40) "Understood, sir. So this pulse will be eliminating the majority of resistance we may run into?" Andrew turned to Sorenson as he spoke. He nodded as he answered his question. “Yes it should but only the people who are infected. It should not have much effect on any non-infected people. Who may not be very happy that a team has incapacitated some their crew and have assaulted the station? Michael must have checked his weapons at least five times in the last few minutes. His pre-mission jitters had completely disappeared by now, replaced by anticipation. Some technical jargon was exchanged between the other occupants, something about isolating and frequencies. The doctor confirmed that everything was ready to go. "The sequence is entered." Michael nodded, curious as to what would happen. "Understood, sir. So this pulse will be eliminating the majority of resistance we may run into?" (Reply Williams, Any) (Posted by Brandon) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Cockpit – Ops, Ensign Will Alexander - 13:46) Everything was going according to plan with the pulse. The levels were normal. The transporter was isolated in case they needed to make an emergency teleport. He was about to head back to the CONN when he overheard the conversation between the CMO and ensign Sorensen "Understood, sir. So this pulse will be eliminating the majority of resistance we may run into?" asked the young Security officer “Yes it should but only the people who are infected. It should not have much effect on any non-infected people. Who may not be very happy that a team has incapacitated some their crew and have assaulted the station? Which is why it’s going to be taught until we know how many are infected as the star base has a large population. Which is why having security along is very important.” replied the good Doctor Michael nodded. "Understood, I'll be on top form for this mission." "That is not actually true Doctor Williams," Will interjected. The frequency will take out the parasites yes. But the pulse itself, as it cascades through the starbase, it will emit a sort of concussive pulse wave that will incapacitate the crew, regardless of any parasites. So the resistance should be limited. There could be some yes, the pulse may not have enough range, or some areas might be shielded, but the pulse should knock out quite a few, infected and non infected alike." (reply Williams, Sorensen) "I'm not taking any chances this time." Will said. ~I'm coming back this time.~ Will walked over to the CONN and looked over Ensign Sorensen's shoulder. "Everything looks ready, Lt. Kerge, do you want to do the honors and fire the pulse." (reply Kerge) (Reply Kerge, Williams, Sorensen, any) (posted by Will Banowsky) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Cockpit – TAC/SC, Lt Kerge - 13:47) Over the last five or so minutes, everyone had just gone about their duty and waited for the allotted time for things to happen. Sorensen was at the helm, seemingly looking quite pleased with himself at being so. Williams was monitoring a display whilst intermittently checking his field medical scanner and kit, and chatting with Sorensen about how the pulse itself would work, whilst Alexander, the man behind this mission, oversaw the proceedings with all the intensity of an expectant Father awaiting the birth of his child. Listening to the chatter between Williams and Sorensen however, he immediately broke off from what he was doing to correct a slight incongruity in the Doctors explanation. "That is not actually true Doctor Williams, the frequency will take out the parasites yes. But the pulse itself, as it cascades through the starbase, will emit a sort of concussive pulse wave that will incapacitate the crew, regardless of any parasites. So the resistance should be limited." he offered, moving then to explain that it was entirely possible that the pulse actually might not disable everyone. Which was precisely what the Security Chief did not want to be hearing, the thought of a simple bug infesting him from above as it dropped from an unconscious crewman draped over a gantry, not being particularly conducive to a warriors means of dispatch... "Everything looks ready, Lt. Kerge, do you want to do the honours and fire the pulse", said Will, momentarily distracting the Klingon from his prior thoughts of a positively dishonourable demise. Kerge shrugged his shoulders, and then moved towards the respective panel, the light flashing upon it indicating that the pulse was charged and ready as a thought suddenly implanted itself in his mind about bug spray being sprayed from the shuttlecrafts emitter arrays. The Klingon said nothing, he simply poised his finger above the relevant activator, and then pressed it. Then he waited for Alexander to inform him that his finger had done the job and that the bugs were all incapacitated.... I’d rather not have to fire on our own, infected or otherwise.” Said Sorenson Andrew nodded. “Yes the less of our people we have to injure the better it will be.” "I'm not taking any chances this time." Will said. Andrew heard him say this and gave him a reassuring smile as he watched Alexander move over to Sorenson before speaking. "Everything looks ready, Lt. Kerge, do you want to do the honors and fire the pulse." (reply Kerge) (Reply Kerge, any) (posted by Robbie) (Shuttlecraft Shade – Cockpit – TAC/ASC, Ensign Michael Sorenson – 13:49) Michael watched the screens and readouts at the shuttles helm. Keeping the shuttle in it’s pattern had been easier than he had been expecting. He found the whole experience quite enjoyable. His previous conversation with the doctor had caught the attention of Ensign Alexander. "That is not actually true Doctor Williams," Will interjected. The frequency will take out the parasites yes. But the pulse itself, as it cascades through the starbase, it will emit a sort of concussive pulse wave that will incapacitate the crew, regardless of any parasites. I’d rather not have to fire on our own, infected or otherwise.” Michael said with a half-hearted grin. The ensign would never have thought he would be in a situation where he may have to open fire on his own side, even if it was necessary. This was definitely not his comfort level. (Reply any, IYW) "I'm not taking any chances this time." Will said as he walked over to the CONN. ~I wonder what he meant by that?~ (Reply any, IYW) (Posted by Brandon) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Cockpit – Ops, Ensign Alexander - 13:50) As Lt. Kerge fired the pulse, Will held his breath for a slight moment, hoping for the best. The shuttlecraft hummed, and the frequency embedded pulse left the shuttle aimed directly at the location of one of the starbase's primary EPS conduit relays. The blue pulse beam looked like a cross between a tachyon beam and a phaser blast. From the window of the cockpit, the beam looked like it worked. Still the only way to figure if it worked was to beam over there. The shuttle seemed to handle the beam with no problem, and the transporter was in perfect condition. "Alright, it is time to go to work. Lt. Kerge, I will send your team over First. Ensign Sorensen, Commander Williams, and Lt. Palmer, we will beam over next." (reply Any) Will gave a quick sign to Ensign Sorensen to get up and quickly took his place at the CONN. He then wated for Kerge's team to ready themselves and head over to the transporter pad. "Alright, Liuetenant, are you ready?" (reply Kerge) "Alright, beginning transport now." Will quickly and swiftly moved his fingers over the buttons of the console and began the transport sequences. In a matter of moments the first team had been transported over to the Starbase. "Alright then, are we ready?" (Reply Sorensen, Williams, Palmer) Will nodded and waited for the team to assemble on the transport pad. Will then entered an auto transport command keyed to a voice command and took his place on the pad. "See you on the other side." Will said, then nodded at the team, and with a deep breath he said, "Energize." And in a flash, the team dematerialized on the shuttle, and in less than a minute, they were on the the starbase. (reply Kerge, Williams, Sorensen, Palmer) (posted by Will Banowsky) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Cockpit – TAC/SC, Lt Kerge - 13:52) Kerge braced himself for a surprise as he activated the disabling beam that would 'hopefully' knock out the stations crew along with any unauthorised 'passengers' that they might be carrying. If it worked to 100%, then Kerge would indeed be surprised, and if it didn't work at all, he would be surprised also. Either way, he was ready for the surprise. The beam was surprisingly silent, which was a plus thought Kerge. For some reason, most people were psychologically programmed to think that anything but silence when trying to catch someone unawares would be the order of the day, even though there would be no noise at all as the beam tore through the vacuum of space towards its destination. If it were a noisy beam, then it really wouldn't matter at all, and yet, the fact that it wasn't, stilled a few nerves within the tiny crew of Shuttlecraft Shade. Alexander had monitored the event from a panel, as expected, and then once it had completed its cycle, he broke the continuing silence, caused it would seem by everyone momentarily holding their breath. "Alright, it is time to go to work. Lt. Kerge, I will send your team over First. Ensign Sorensen, Commander Williams, and Lt. Palmer, we will beam over next.", said the Ensign, looking relieved also that his plan had seemingly worked. Kerge nodded succinctly, and then he took his place on the small transport pad, whilst Science Officer Lenson, Security Officer Haringey and finally, Dr Kirrien, stepped up alongside him. NRPG: If anyone wants to play any of the two NPC's here, feel free to do so... (Reply Any, IYW) "Alright, Liuetenant, are you ready?", asked Alexander, and Kerge nodded again. "Ready when you are" And the next thing the big Klingon and his team knew, they were in a darkened and apparently unused room on what they assumed was one of the stations lower levels... (Reply Any) (Reply Alexander, Any) (Posted by Alan) (Shuttlecraft Shade - Cockpit - TAC/ASC, Ensign Michael Sorenson - 13:53) Michael had watched as the pulse was fired. Will relieved Michael from his short time at the CONN while the first away team readied themselves on the pad. Michael went back to his gear and prepared himself as the team was transported. "Alright then, are we ready?" Will said. Michael gripped his weapon. "Ready to go, sir. Let's do this." Once the rest of the team was ready, Will entered a command to the transporter. "See you on the other side." He said. "Energize" And with that, the familiar whine of the transporter sounded, as the shuttle disappeared from view. (Reply none) (Posted by Brandon) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Deck 21, Storage Hold – TAC/SC, Lt Kerge - 14:00) So, it was silent again, for the second time within the space of only five or so minutes. This time though, it was even more welcome than it had been whilst in the shuttle. Kerge signalled the Shade to inform Alexander and the rest that they had arrived safely, then he drew his phasor from his holster, Lenson activating a tricorder and beginning to scan the immediate field. The machine pinged to life and then sounded it's familiar scanning announcement, a mild warbling as it actively probed the vicinity. Kerge halted at the door to the storage room. Then he awaited the result of the scan... "It's all clear sir", said Lenson, "nothing moving within a 500 metre radius" Kerge nodded, and then activated the door panel, which unlike the doors on the Spectre, did not open automatically. The door slid into the bulkhead with a pneumatic hiss and Kerge ventured forth, Kirrien, Lenson and Haringey following suit. ~Alexander, I owe you one~ Thought Kerge, realising now that the Ensign's plan had been more effective than he had first expected it would be. "OK, let's move on", said Kerge, "We are currently on Deck 21, here", he added, pointing to the schematic upon the wall. "This is our destination, Deck 4, Operations. Hopefully, the corridors will remain as free of interference as they are right now", he added. Haringey nodded, and then moved forwards through the corridor towards the awaiting turbolifts, halting briefly as he did so to step over a prone crewman in medical teal that lay incapacitated upon the floor, prompting Kirrien to kneel in order to briefly scan the person for anything that should not be there. "Well, this one is not infected", she said with more than just a hint of relief, before then confirming that he was in no danger apart from remaining asleep for a lot longer than she hoped. Arriving at the turbolift section though, they were surprised to see that the wall annunciators were flashing yellow, indicating that the station had recently gone to alert status. That was a little worrying. Either someone had realised that the base was about to be infiltrated by them, or the alert was something to so with an event before the Shade had actually arrived. Suddenly, Kerge did not feel so confident, but he continued on nonetheless... (Reply Any) (Posted by Alan) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Deck 14, Corridor B – OPS, Ensign Will Alexander - 14:05) As he materialized on the station, not to far from the communications center, Will was relieved to see that the teleporter trip was a success. He would have his memories, personality, his Willness, trapped in there again. No here he was on the Starbase, close to the communications center, but not to close. He didn't want to beam in there in case the pulse didn't work. Rather, a side corridor with little foot traffic would help them assess the situation. Apparently it was a good spot to beam in, because there was no one else but the away team. It was empty, and quiet, eerily quiet. Will took stock of their location, they would be an easy 10 to 15 minutes from the comm center, without resistance. He didn't see any resistance yet, but he figured it was coming. The yellow alert had been sounded. It left Will unsettled they came in under radar, and acted quick. If there had been a problem with the shuttle being detected, they would have received a hail from the station, or been fired on. Still there was a mission to complete. "Alright guys, everyone make it over in one piece?" Will said looking at the away team. (Reply Palmer, Sorensen, Williams) (Reply P, S, W) (Posted by Will Banowsky) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Deck 17 – TAC/SC, Lt Kerge - 14:08) The assent through the decks of SB 39-Sierra were slower than the norm, the turbolift being anything but an accurate representation of it's name. Indeed, it was positively 'clunky', leading the Klingon to wonder if perhaps someone had been knocked unconscious whilst working in the lift shaft itself. Deck 4, way above them had also apparently been bypassed, the lift stopping at Deck 17, only 4 decks from where they had started. Stepping out and into the corridor, the team progressed on wards, the evidence of the effectiveness of Alexander's pulse now laying all around them. Crewman were scattered everywhere, some slumped into doorways, others laying face down on the carpeted flooring. Kirrien did the usual, scanning for signs of the parasite and also confirming that nobody was actually dead before moving on towards the next turbolift port. Kerge remained a tad confused as to why their previous ride had halted so suddenly, and the inconvenience of having to find another route to deck 4 bothered him. Walking past an opened room though, he suddenly caught sight of movement from within. A fleeting shadow projected upon the wall, almost as though someone were hiding. The Klingon raised a hand signalling them to stop, and then he motioned Lenson to run scans to see if what he had thought he had seen, was actually real and not some fan driven screen fluttering in a breeze. Lenson activated his tricorder, and then nodded. Someone was in the room, and they were conscious... (Reply Any) (Posted by Alan) =================================================================
