Stardate: 3 Years Previously (Mars Colony – Sector G6 – Perra Tolqu - 04:15) Perra lay back on the operating chair. She had refused anything that might dull her senses and had insisted to this back street doctor not to drug her. She now had to much experience in these matters and knew she would more than likely never awake again if she let this seedy little human put her under any type of unconsciousness she had settled for a mild anaesthesia to blunt some of the pain. She had no intentions of letting her organs being sold for a profit. She fully intended to keep everything that was her where it should be. She had already scanned and sat hidden in cover outside the Doctor’s residence for two days, since ordering the implant to be surgically inserted into for cerebral cortex. Renting a small room above a clothes shop opposite his makeshift operating room and office, Perra had never met this Doctor before and had made arrangements via a third party. A standard procedure for her now whenever meeting anyone whether she knew them or not. One thing the Orion Syndicate had taught her from day one was trust no one. The doctor was harmless if not a shifty character, prone to gambling his earning on the Dabo tables. This implant would help her aims greatly, dulling her pain receptors, pumping her body with adrenaline by command, allowing her almost super human feats of strength and agility, her reflexes would also be greatly improved, and it was programmable to fool simple scanners. A useful piece of equipment that could help disguises her, if she played a character, to get closer to her marks. Then onto her final objective, Teverine and with luck all Starfleet around him. She also knew the implant was a hazard aswell, she had to control how much she used it, the circuitry was delicate and she would have to monitor her bio signs carefully when using the implant, if she over did it her heart would burst without her even noticing until it was too late. The Doctor’s place was in a more disreputable district of Mars colony in the Sol system. Here Starfleet did not pry nor did it know of the things that went on in this northerly area away from the main Starfleet compounds. Civilian life was much the same as it always had been. Some where rich and powerful others where barely scratching a living. She usually avoided places with more scrutinized policies on people entering the system but she had slipped by to get here on a Bolian freighter. Using a simple trick of hiding in the cargo and using a dampening field to hide her bio signature, though everything was scanned on colonies of this size inevitably they used basic scans and rarely went to higher levels of probing unless information had been passed on or the cargo was coming from a more less reputably part of the galaxy. Not a consignment of Bolian Ale due for the Starfleet headquarters. Once docked and unloaded she simply slipped out under cover of her cloaking field. The little weed she would have to deal with had a skill she needed and he was of low enough importance that no discerning eyes might find out what she was up to. Perra liked keeping things close to her chest and never liked to display any emotion unless she was in character. Then she could charm the ‘Felicum from any Ornaran’ as the old saying used to go. Looking into the eyes of this Human doctor she grabbed his arm as he lifted the laser scalpel, her fingers clamping on his wrist, seeing him wince with pain, as she sent a short sharp shock of energy run through her palms and into his body, she sneered at him with a vicious smile. “One wrong move Doctor and it will be your last.” The Doctor just barely nodded sweat began to pour from his forehead as he moved behind her and began his work. Perra sniffed the air, she could smell the cauterized burning of her own flesh and a slight bitter after smell of her hair being burnt, but was surprised to feel nothing but an uncomfortable itch at the base of her skull. The smell was almost a comfort to her, bringing back pleasant memories of those she had killed with fire and explosions, smiling as she settled back she lost herself to her vicious exploits, each time imagining each of her marks was Teverine or an associate of his. She had paid handsomely to know how his training at the academy was going along and looked forward to his placement and the beginning of her plans. Perra stared at the ceiling lost in thoughts of murder and lust. Whilst she relived her past victories, she looked around this dingy room; there was no furniture of any sort except the bed she now lay on with a adjoining table holding the operating equipment, and a small desk in the corner. The walls had the same metal covering as when it was first constructed, and the carpets where a plain dull grey, worn short in places leaving a clear guideline as to the occupiers movements, running from the door to the bed, and the small table of equipment just to the left of the bed. She could tell he hardly did any business of a great sort directly in his room, as the carpet was much less faded leading towards the desk. ~He does not have many appointments here nor does he use any communications from in here clever boy~ Perra mused, knowing the majority of his work was done by nameless clients through other agents, not really calling for a formal meeting before his required skills where put to use. Plus by using no communications his operating theatre as it was could not be traced back here, she could hear him breathing from behind her. He was nervous and stank of fear. Perra inhaled more deeply, filtering out the smell of burnt flesh and hair, and slowly allowing her olfactory sense to soak in his fear and panic. She was shocked at the vivid nature of the smell and smiled to herself. ~I like this implant already~ She slowly started dissecting other smells in the room, picking up traces of scents as they wafted through the room, she dissected each different smell as if was her first time at smelling a new world, and catalogued each, the more she drove onwards, the more she could discern the age of the smell and the approximate time it had been there. She inhaled again and smelt the metal that lay in the Doctor’s ankle, she closed her eyes and smiled. This implant had already paid for itself. “It’s finished. Do not knock your head or make sudden movements of your head for at least 5 hours.” Perra slowly sat up and stared at the Doctor. “You really have done a good job my fine Doctor.” Laying on her silkiest voice she paused as Perra tentatively reached behind her head and gingerly felt the small scar. “A very fine job.” With snake like reflexes before the doctor even knew she had moved, Perra had moved the 3 feet distance between them in what seemed like less than a second her hand gripped firmly around his throat. She was slightly concerned to feel her heart beating so rapidly after such a minor use of the implant. “Wha…” Perra squeezed her hand letting her energy flow through her palms sending currents of energy pulsing into the doctor’s body cutting off anything he was trying to say. For this she did not need any implant, here she was in familiar ground, here she was back in control. “Now you see my dear doctor, I have plans and you being able to tell people what I have done could be a great liability. With your gambling habits how can I trust you not to talk for a few extra Latinum bars?” Panic filled his eyes as Perra controlled the pulse of energy making sure not to push too hard, she wanted to have some sport first before she took his life. Looking into his eyes with glee Perra slowly began to move downward toward the Doctors feet. As she grouched ever lower she forced the doctor to bend forward putting him off balance and leaning more weight on his neck and increasing the pain he received from the Ornaran’s hands. Ever more slowly Perra finally stopped, reaching with her free hand she began to stroke the doctor’s shoe, moving her hand slowly up inside his trouser leg, tenderly stroking the hairs on his ankle before, reaching further up and grasping the hilt of the blade she pulled it out and stood up abruptly pushing her hand deeper into the doctor’s Adam’s apple, she felt him convulse under her hands, and she shuddered with the anticipation of a kill. She smelt that the doctor had evacuated his bowels, he to knew it was time. “Don’t worry it will all be over soon Teverine.” Madness danced in her eyes as she stared transfixed at the doctor’s face watching it transform into her husbands visage, a ghostly image overcastting the doctor’s own face. She let out a small giggle as she looked down and saw her hand was thrust deep into the doctor’s belly, she felt something warm run down her hand as she realised the passion had overtaken her. She heard herself giggle which turned into a laugh as she continued in her act towards the doctor. She bellowed and then began to scream, Perra saw nothing but black before slowly coming back to her sense, seeing the Doctor laid out crumpled on the floor, a growing puddle forming from his body, flowing outward slowly, staining the carpet. These visions had started to take over more and more in recent months but nothing this vivid. But now with the implant Perra’s passion for revenge had almost become incarnate. She felt the warm sensation of pleasure rush through her as she let the endorphins flow freely within her body. She stood above the lifeless form of the doctor as she revelled in the implants glory. Turning slowly Perra reached into her back pocket as she left the room she quickly threw the object back into the room as the door slide shut.. She knew not many people where out at this hour yet still hugged to the shadows as she made a quick scan of the area. Seeing all was clear she ran to the opposite side f the street and into her room where she quickly washed and changed. She still needed to acquire a decent vessel now and a few more things to swing the upcoming battle in her favour. But she still had time on her hands to get everything she needed in place. As she left the room she left an identical object on the floor and headed to the docks and a quick flight out of here. As she travelled on the shuttle towards the docks she quickly clicked a button on her belt, looking back she saw two small mushrooms of smoke on the horizon. The moment you are able to I want you to begin tracking those signals pending beam out to a designated location, do not transport until requested..... Please stand by for further orders", =/\= Aye Captain =/\= (Reply T’Vhor, IYW) Teverine kept his eyes glued to the console as it displayed the hostile force on board the ship, he knew it would only be minutes till he could get a lock on them, but in that time many of his crew members could be injured or killed, he sighed with frustration as he watched the radiation levels drop with what felt to him increasing slowness. He felt impotent stuck on board the shuttle, but also knew that he was more help on board the Barwon than he would have been back on the planet’s surface, unable to communicate and his hands tied with the basic technology on offer in the Vedean Laboratories. =/\=Ensign Hightower, begin assisting the Barwon in its task and inform me the moment that our hull is clear of radiation=/\= "I’ll let you know the second the transporters are fully functioning Sir", said Teverine. (Reply T’Vhor, Hightower) Turning to Nico Teverine smiled. “Won’t be long now until we get you onboard.” "I'm seriously not that concerned about getting on board," Teverine frowned at Nico’s nervous laugh and assumed he must be trying to lighten the mood. As he watched the newest Ensign who looked into the view screen he allowed him to continue. "I love the ocean, you know, and would prefer to be surfing it up along some jagged coastline, but right now I think I'd prefer to be here in space rather than thousands of feet below the ocean's surface with raiders boarding." “I would prefer to be with my crew mates helping them against these invaders personally.” Teverine did not like Nico’s flippant manner concerning his ship and crew, he added with an almost sneer to his voice showing his disapproval. "I'm no coward” ~Sounds that way to me~ Teverine thought to himself, part of him knew Nico was just nervous and was blowing proverbial steam but he still did not like Nico’s opinion in such a time of crisis. "But I'm better serving the Spectre from up here on the Barwon with the transporters. Get me into a fire fight and you're probably going to see me make a fool of myself. Actually, make that a guarantee." “You’ll be surprised what you can achieve when under fire Nico.” (Reply Tchaikovsky) “Ok Transporter lock seem to be clearing up, Tchaikovsky lock onto the invaders I’ll contact the Captain.” (Reply Tchaikovsky) "This is Tolqu to Captain T’Vhor I have a clear lock on all invaders on board and am awaiting orders" (Reply T’Vhor) (Posted by Peter Richards) (SS Barwon - Shuttle Cockpit – Counsellor, Ensign Nico Tchaikovsky - 11:38) Nico watched the scans of the Spectre, anxious about what was happening down on the submerged ship. He wondered who had attacked her and why, something he couldn't really know or begin to understand without speaking with the Captain or the Vedeans. Perhaps they had wandered into a civil war, he thought, or perhaps this was something beyond the Vedeans themselves. “Won’t be long now until we get you onboard,” Tev said. "I'm seriously not that concerned about getting on board," Nico said Teverine frowned, but Nico didn't notice it as he was looking at the screen. Nico was watching the planet below, looking at the surface which was almost completely covered in oceans. "I love the ocean, you know, and would prefer to be surfing it up along some jagged coastline, but right now I think I'd prefer to be here in space rather than thousands of feet below the ocean's surface with raiders boarding." “I would prefer to be with my crew mates helping them against these invaders personally,” Tev said. Nico was surprised by the change in tone and looked across at the science officer, although he didn't turn fully around. "I'm no coward,” Nico said slowly. "But I'm better serving the Spectre from up here on the Barwon with the transporters. Get me into a fire fight and you're probably going to see me make a fool of myself. Actually, make that a guarantee." “You’ll be surprised what you can achieve when under fire Nico,” Tev said. "Perhaps," he agreed. "But I think a level head is also an asset, and to know our place. I'm a counsellor, not a marine. The Spectre has a contingent of marines, all fully experienced and armed and trained down there. From our scans it looks like the attacking force is a couple of squads at maximum - so our marines should be enough to contain and counter their incursion." Nico still didn't look directly at Tev, but continued in a level voice. "Think of it another way, if you will. If there was a scientific emergency, something in your field of expertise, would you want everyone to jump in and help you? Starfleet is full of experts in a variety of fields, and we must trust each other to do our job, and to avoid doing other people's jobs - regardless of pressure or stress. There will be time for you to help, and for me. I imagine that your skills will be needed once the ship is secure, but let's give the marines some time to do what they do best." Nico hoped he wasn't insulting the science officer, but he needed to retain perspective, to counter the stress that was building. Of course, he also knew he could very well be escalating the stress. "We've been given a chance to make a difference up here, with the shuttle's transporters. It's going to be..." “Ok Transporter lock seems to be clearing up," Tev said. "Tchaikovsky lock onto the invaders I’ll contact the Captain.” Nico nodded. Things would have to be discussed at a later time, he knew. Nico identified the non-Starfleet signatures on the Spectre, locking on to them with the transporter's computer. "Is it possible there are Vedeans on board with the crew? We don't want to transport them off along with the raiders. Could you clarify the situation with the Captain?" (reply Teverine, iyw) "This is Tolqu to Captain T’Vhor I have a clear lock on all invaders on board and am awaiting orders" (Reply T’Vhor) (Posted by Ben) (USS Spectre - Deck 14, Cargo Bay 2 – TAC/SC, Lt Cmdr Calvin Capps - 11:38) With the help of Vedean technology the Security Chief and his team seemed to easily float to their destination. Behind shelves Adams peaked around them and was able to clearly see two sentries. =/\=Sir,=/\= stated Adams . =/\=I have a clear shot. Should I take it?=/\= A slight hesitation preceded Lt Cmdr Capps’ answer, “Yes.” Only half a second later a bright orange beam bellowed out of the Vedean weapon. The Chief then pushed off the shelf with his foot to allow him to turn the corner quickly as he raised his weapon. He began to aim when he noticed that the first shot missed, which was understandable noting that Adams nor himself had any experience with Vedean weapons or firing underwater. “Higher altitude Mr. Adams,” the Chief was now strategizing for better position now that the intruders were alert of their situation. Calvin stayed where he was and began to suppress fire at the enemy as Adams swam upward. Their Vedean counterparts now started shooting as well. The intruders were caught in a traditional cross fire with no where to turn. But they did not give up quickly. The intruders hid behind the crates only popping up to fire back. Rounds from the intruders hit the shelf next to Calvin as he continued to fire his weapon. Suddenly a single shot seemed to catch everyone’s eye as one of Adams ’ shot hit one of the intruders in the shoulder. The weapon fire seemed to slow down at this point but the single intruder still did not give up until after he was nearly hit with one of Calvin’s shots. The weapons were out of the intruders hands and the Chief’s team slowly walked toward the intruders. “Dr. Huval check on any that is arm including the intruder.” (reply Huval) =/\=Captain to Lieutenant Commander Capps, what is your status please?=/\=, asked the Captain. Calvin was shaken but the sudden communication from the Captain. He was happy to know comms were back up. “We just caught two intruders in the Cargobay sir.” He was then told that there was no way to enter the Spectre from their current location and was ordered to proceed anyway he felt necessary. His team was now on the intruders and the Vedean security officers was with the second intruder as Dr. Huval was with the injured intruder. Calvin turned to Lt. Adams. “How can we get in?” (reply Adams ) During their conversation the two intruder bodies materialized out of the cargobay. With a surprised expression Calvin spoke up. “Capps to T’Vhor.” (reply T’Vhor) “Our intruders just beamed out?” (reply T’Vhor) “That is excellent news sir. Can you ask the shuttle to beam us aboard please.” (reply T’Vhor, Adams, Huval, any, all) (posted by Calvin) (SS Barwon - Shuttle Cockpit – ACSO, Ensign Teverine Tolqu - 11:39) “You’ll be surprised what you can achieve when under fire Nico,” Tev said. "Perhaps but I think a level head is also an asset, and to know our place. I'm a counsellor, not a marine. The Spectre has a contingent of marines, all fully experienced and armed and trained down there. From our scans it looks like the attacking force is a couple of squads at maximum - so our marines should be enough to contain and counter their incursion." ~He has a point I suppose but he is a councillor~ Teverine merely nodded as Nico continued. I imagine that your skills will be needed once the ship is secure, but let's give the marines some time to do what they do best." “I understand what you are saying but as you know we all have been trained in Starfleet protocols, we can all do part of each others jobs, even to a lesser extent. But I concede your Point Nico, sorry if I seemed overly harsh. But marines or not they are our Marines and I would rather know none of them are risking their lives, and would readily replace myself for any of them down there.”” "We've been given a chance to make a difference up here, with the shuttle's transporters. It's going to be..." “Ok Transporter lock seem to be clearing up," Tev said. "Tchaikovsky lock onto the invaders I’ll contact the Captain.” Teverine did not mean to interject but the scanners indicated Transporters where functioning. "Is it possible there are Vedeans’ on board with the crew? We don't want to transport them off along with the raiders. Could you clarify the situation with the Captain?" “Simple recalibrate the scanners to exclude Vedean life forms, we have their biological signatures on the data banks. We shouldn’t have to bother the Captain with it.” (Reply Tchaikovsky) Tapping his comm badge Teverine continued. "This is Tolqu to Captain T’Vhor I have a clear lock on all invaders on board and am awaiting orders, all radiation has cleared from around the hull Sir." (Reply T’Vhor) He looked at Nico while he waited for his reply from his Captain. He felt a little more respect growing for this new shipmate. He knew he had issues with interacting with people, but he also knew loyalty to ones crew was a stronger bond than most things he felt dear in his life. In fact Teverine knew his love of Starfleet brought him closer to his own inner peace and the constant struggle he felt with his guilt over leaving everything behind on Ornaran. After his brief stint in the Brigg at Starbase 24 he had promised to be more open and warming to people and not so self involved and closed off, But at times like these it was hard to maintain, something so ingrained in him was not an easy thing to break. But he was trying. “Keep an eye on the invaders Nico let me know if they break out of the cargo bay area. So we can update the Captain.” (Reply Tchaikovsky) ~Not that the Captain would need to be told. ~ Knowing that internal sensors would be bond to be working, but it was good to keep busy. (Reply Tchaikovsky) (Posted by Peter Richards) (SS Barwon - Shuttle Cockpit – Counsellor, Ensign Nico Tchaikovsky - 11:39) “Simple - recalibrate the scanners to exclude Vedean life forms, we have their biological signatures on the data banks. We shouldn’t have to bother the Captain with it.” "Okay, I can do that," Nico said, and cross-referenced the signs below with the data banks. The Vedeans were in the data banks and Nico started flagging them amongst the non-Starfleet life signals below. Tapping his comm badge Teverine continued. "This is Tolqu to Captain T’Vhor I have a clear lock on all invaders on board and am awaiting orders, all radiation has cleared from around the hull Sir." (Reply T’Vhor) Nico completed the identification of the Vedeans and stood watching the remaining signals below. The marauders were operating in small groups. They seemed to know the ship's layout. Their attack point led them into the cargo bay and they were now spreading out. Nico doubted the Vedeans had much knowledge of the Starfleet vessels, and he wondered again whether this was some off-planet force. Nervously, he looked back at the view screen. Space was black. He ran a quick local scan of the area near the shuttle. He didn't want to be ambushed if there was a ship somewhere out there. He assumed the Spectre was brought down by an EMP weapon fired from the planet, but still... he was a little nervous. “Keep an eye on the invaders Nico let me know if they break out of the cargo bay area. So we can update the Captain.” "I won't let them out of my sight," Nico said. "I mean... I won't let them out of the transporter's lock." He shrugged, and kept his eyes on the space-scan and the transporter locks. (Reply T'Vhor, Any) (Posted by Ben) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 11:40) Via his monitor, the Captain could clearly see the progress of the conflict outside of cargobay two. It seemed that the marines were gaining ground now, the previous enemy photon grenade having injured only a few of the MXO's squad, who had in turn retaliated to begin picking off individual members of the hostile team as they continued to push on. Some were now laying inert in the water that had coalesced in the corridor clearly out of action so to speak, whilst those that remained continued on unabated and with a seemingly eager intent. At the moment, the Captain was aware that there was little he could do to change the situation right now, so with that in mind he took his attention away from the monitor, then he attempted to open a channel to the Sec Chief. "Captain to Lieutenant Commander Capps, what is your status please?", asked the Captain. (Reply Capps) Somewhat relieved now that they had reliable communications of a sort, the Captain ordered Capps to stand by, then he turned to the Tactical officer on TAC One. "Do we have any power at all within Cargobay two Lieutenant?", he asked, hoping that something may still be usable, despite the water throughout and the safety mechanisms that would have cut in. "The Cargo bay is effectively sealed off sir", said the Tactical officer, "the EPS feeds open circuited automatically on water ingress", he added. The Captain simply nodded, he had assumed as much anyway, he then gave Capps the order to move in in whatever manner he felt necessary. (Reply Capps IYW) Another communication then arrived from Ensign's Tolqu and Tchaikovsky aboard the Barwon in orbit of Vedea IV. =/\=This is Tolqu to Captain T’Vhor I have a clear lock on all invaders on board and am awaiting orders, all radiation has cleared from around the hull Sir.=/\= "Very good Ensign", began the Captain, "please stand by" The Captain then ordered communication to be opened to Na'Jea city, the First minister himself eventually taking the call after it being passed through the relevant channels. "I would appreciate it First minister, if you could transmit the coordinates of a secure holding facility at Na'Jea", said the Captain, the communication now almost perfectly clear thanks to the two officers in orbit and Ensign Hightower's careful collaboration with them by way of the Spectre's deflector dish. =/\=You will have those coordinates shortly Captain... may I be so bold as to ask what we will be receiving?=/\= "Miscreants First minister, they will be unarmed but may be slightly agitated, be sure that your security detail is ready for that", said the Captain. "Unfortunately, the Spectre is not in a condition to support beamout of the intruders directly to our own brig" =/\=The security team will be ready Captain, mark my words=/\= "Thank you First minister, assuming this goes to plan, I will speak to you again very soon.... Please ensure that their weapons are deactivated and inform me the moment transport has been successful", said the Captain. (Reply Tolqu, Tchaikovsky, Any) "Coordinates are being received.... and passed on. You may energize at will", said the Captain before signing off and then closing the channel. He then returned his attention to the monitor, noting as he did so that Williams' sister now appeared to be making a last ditch attampt to gain entry into secondary life support! She had to get to the secondary life support and up load her virus and she would win. Her dwindling squad were dropping fast. She hoped that the grenades would give her a few seconds to get to the objective. That was all that mattered was flooding the Spectre they all knew that this was a one way mission and had all volunteered for it. ~Come on, Faster~ She saw that Curran had opened the door to the secondary life support. His head suddenly snapped back as his body slumped into the water. ~Damn~ She dived for the door splashing into the room as the phaser shots sizzled the water around her. As she slithered into cover she saw that one of her squad had made it as well. “Bay we are it. Cover the door.” She saw Bay nod as she began to fire phaser rifle down the corridor at the approaching enemy. Audrey moved behind the central pillar that dominated the room. She found the console and began to down load the viruse. ~Come on. This is no time to be slow~ A phaser round danced passed her head. “Bay close the door there is a draft.” She paused when there was no reply from Bay. She stepped out from around pillar to see Bay half submerged in the water lifeless and dead. ~Damn it. Looks like I am the last woman standing. Well isn’t that just grate~ Then two things happened at once a figure appeared in the doorway weapon raised. The other was the console beeped to say that the viruse was ready to start and that she only needed to his the button to start. All she had to do was to touch the console and she would win. She looked at the figure and gave a wolfish grin. “Bite Me. ” She then hurled herself at the console. Suddenly the captain's voice could be heard through the comm badges still on their uniforms inside their suits and Lieutenant Commander Capps filled him in or their status =/\= How can we get in?=/\= asked Capps over the suit communication system turning to Adams. "If we got close enough to the force field," explained Adams. "I could move it right behind us. The transporter effect started to appear in front of Lieutenant Adams's eyes. (Reply T'Vhor) (Posted by Jason French) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 11:42) Events had continued to unfold on the bridge as the battle below played out towards it's end, there had been various power fluctuations showing on the readouts but on the whole, communications had remained good and the Ops officer had managed to keep things at an optimal level. Capp's team by then, had moved into the cargobay and had been given the go ahead to engage any intruders they might find, but the following events, initiated by the shuttle in high orbit had seemingly changed the playing field. The Security chief's voice when he had reported in had betrayed a certain surprise at his targets simply disappearing, certainly it would not have been expected under the circumstances, nevertheless though, his exclamation of 'our intruders just beamed out', deserved an explanation at the very least, and the Captain came straight to the point... "The Barwon has succeeded in locking onto the hostile team Lieutenant Commander, and has beamed them to Na'Jea City", said the Captain. =/\=That is excellent news sir. Can you ask the shuttle to beam us aboard please=/\= came the reply from the Sec Chief. "I will do so immediately Mr Capps", said the Captain, pausing briefly before continuing on with.... "I trust that we did not ruin your sport there" (Reply Capps) "It is indeed, good to have you back with the ship Lieutenant Commander, there is much to sort out as you no doubt are aware", said the Captain as he continued to busy himself with routine calculations and inputs upon his armrest console, whilst deck reports began to arrive en masse, begining with the MXO's visual report that they were 'clearing up' down there! (Reply Capps) The Captain then became aware of Tolqu updating the TAC/SC of his intent to beam them directly to the bridge, and within a few moments, Capps and his team were to be seen dripping all over the floor of the Spectre's bridge dressed in what the Captain could only assume was some form of Vedean skindiver suit. Adams quickly began prodding at his tricorder and the suits simply dissolved before his eyes to reveal 'Dry' Starfleet uniforms once again. "Welcome back onboard gentlemen, I trust that you enjoyed your foray into Vedean waters", said the Captain with a typical raising of an eyebrow in true Vulcan manner. "It's nice to be back on board......What's the current ship status? I should check in with Lieutenant H'Chir", said Adams, apparently eager now to check on things. "The CEO is currently in sickbay undergoing surgery", said the Captain, "as for the ship", he added, glancing briefly around the bridge at the visible damage, "I would say that it has been in better condition" (Reply Adams, Any) Capps then gave his formal report as to the proceedings, just as Tolqu's voice came over the comms once again with just a hint of urgency to it. =/\=Sir we have picked up an unindentified Vessel entering the system........Permission to orbit over the polar magnetic field to hide our position? We cannot identify the vessel at this time as it is entering from behind the 5th moon=/\= "Negative on the orbital relocation. Can you ascertain it's intent Ensign, is it following a hostile pattern at all?", enquired the CO. Ensign Tolqu then broke off briefly to discuss the new contact with his companion, Ensign Tchaikovsky who quickly began relaying information regarding the ships registry and such. It soon transpired that the vessel was most likely a lone trader and was carrying minimal weaponary or shielding, either way it now appeared to be of little direct threat. The Captain then interjected once again. "Continue to monitor the vessel Ensign Tchaikovsky, attempt to hail the crew and inform them that an incident has occured prompting Starfleet protection of this area until further notice.... give them no more information that that but make all attempts to ascertain their reason for being in this sector", said the Captain. (Reply Tolqu, Tchaikovsky) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Sickbay - Medic, Ensign Talor Del'ann - 11:42) Ensign Durgil seemingly did his best not to show that the pain was excrutiating, was he just being brave in the company of a female perhaps, or did he just have a high pain freshhold? Either way, whatever level of pain he was enduring did not last long for after the quick application of a hypospray to ease that pain, his facial features softened somewhat as the drug entered his body and did it's job. Del'ann then got to work upon repairing the damage to the bones and soft tissue of his arm. "So, how bad has the crew suffered? I mean, this is the first time I've ever been on a ship that's crashed to the bottom of a planetary ocean", said Durgil as the medic worked on. Del'ann smirked and tossed her hair from her eyes with a quick flick of her head. "I'd say", she answered, "this is probably the first time ninety percent of the crew have been on a ship that's crashed to the bottom of a planetary ocean.... needless to say though, the ship, like her crew is pretty banged up", she added. Durgil appeared to sigh heavilly at the answer whilst Del'ann bit at her lip in concentration as she continued to work diligently. From behind though, and through the moans of anguish that seemed to permeate sickbay right now, the unmistakable voice of the FO momentarilly distracted her from her task. "Del’ann. How are we doing and where is H'Chir?", asked the First officer and former chief of sickbay. Del'ann glanced over to one of the side rooms off sickbay. "He's in there", she answered, "I believe that the EMH is currently assessing his head wound, it's quite a bad one as I'm sure you are already aware sir" (Reply Williams) Williams then headed off after glancing briefly to the injured assistant chief engineer on the table, leaving Del'ann to continue tending him. Del'ann smiled and then let out a little huff as she laughed to herself. "I'm not sure that Doctor Williams is particularly keen on holographic medics", she said as the FO disappeared into the room in question. (Reply Durgil) Del'ann nodded appropriately. "So, how is it all looking out there?", she asked motioning towards the door now with her head. (Reply Durgil) "I haven't left sickbay since we were first hit", said Del'ann, "it's been.... kinda busy here", she added, stating the obvious. (Reply Williams, Durgil, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Sickbay - ACEO, Ensign Durgil - 11:43) 'I'm not sure that Doctor Williams is particularly keen on holographic medics.' It's like overhauling a power grid; It might deal with the problem now, but there's gonna be one heck of a repair job later." Aldlar leaned his head back, then began to twist it to the left and right slightly, letting a few snapping sounds emerge softly. A slight sense of relief from built up pressure following... 'So, how is it all looking out there?' "Somewhat like these people, only mechanically. Panels shaken off, bulkheads snapped from stress loads, blown out consoles... You not been out there?" 'I haven't left sickbay since we were first hit. It's been.... kinda busy here.' Aldlar nodded. There were plenty of people in here to keep a medical person busy in here... And a lot to keep an engineer busy out there. "So, how long until I can rejoin the engineering guys? Not that I don't enjoy a break from working, excusing the pun... "Good to hear your voice Capps prepare to be transported to the bridge with your away team now" (Reply Capps) (Posted by Peter Richards) (USS Spectre - Sickbay - Medic, Ensign Talor Del'ann - 11:44) The answer to Del'ann's question regarding the state of play out on the decks was probably as predictable as she expected it to be. Indeed, it seemed that Medic's and Engineer's weren't that much different after all, the main difference being the medium they plied their trade in. Doctors and such dabbled in flesh and bone, Engineer's with metal and structure. Either way the end product revolved around the repair, or the extention of use of something beyond the damage it had sustained. In Ensign Del'ann's case, this involved a dermal regenerator repairing and putting right the damage to the Engineer's flesh where the bones had broken to burst the surrounding tissue. As for the Engineer, he had been 'broken' attempting to fix the metal and structure of the ship. It was entirely symbiotic in nature. "So, how long until I can rejoin the engineering guys? Not that I don't enjoy a break from working, excusing the pun... It's just that we're a little short handed right now I guess, and I really want to help", asked Durgil, breaking the momentary silence that had ensued. Del'ann quirked her head slightly to one side, a niggling ache in her trapezius muscle easing as she did so, then she glanced to the readouts above the Engineer's head. "I won't keep you too much longer", said Talor, "I have realligned the broken bones and initiated normal repair mechanisms, albeit accelerated somewhat. You need to keep this arm unloaded for a few days, light work only whilst the bones fuse fully", she added. "As for the pain, ten cc's of Terakine will keep it at bay...... assuming you carry out my orders that is" (Reply Durgil) Del'ann raised her eyebrows, exhaling heavily in response. Whatever happened to patients that just did as they were told anyway, they it would seem were becoming a dying breed... if one could pardon the pun! "You're not leaving here for at least fifteeen more minutes, I want to see your electrolytes rebalancing before you go off and undo all of my good work", said the Medic. (Reply Durgil) "Just see that you do", said Del'ann as she in turn moved off to another nearby biobed to assist with Dr Kirien, the albino research scientist who had recently arrived to assist wherever she was able to do so. "Dr Kirien, how may I be of assistance?", she asked. (Reply Durgil, Kirien, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Sickbay – FO, Williams - 11:44) Andrew saw Del'ann glance over to one of the side rooms off sickbay. "He's in there", "I believe that the EMH is currently assessing his head wound, it's quite a bad one as I'm sure you are already aware sir" ”Thank you.” Andrew quickly looked at the assistant chief engineer’s injuries to make sure that he was not needed here before he headed towards the surgical suite. ~I am so not going to let the EMH work on H’Chir~ As he entered the surgical suite he saw H’Chir lying on the table with Huval, Douwsy and the EMH worked hard. He saw Douwsy’s head look up at him and she gave him a small nod. He nodded back and left the surgical suit content in the knowledge that H’Chir was safe in their hands because all he would have done was get in Huval’s way. He headed out of sickbay as he wanted to get an understanding of what was happening to the whole ship before he returned to help in sickbay and the only place for that was the bridge. (Reply Any) (Posted by Robbie) (SS Barwon - Shuttle Cockpit – Counsellor, Ensign Nico Tchaikovsky - 11:44) It was good to see the plan unfolding, Nico thought, as he continued to monitor the intruders down below. The Captain seemed to be back in communication with his team and Ensign Teverine was also building his optimism. “Ok Nico start beaming them to the coordinates when given by the Captain, if you are not sure what Vedean’s are not hostile don’t take the chance and transport them all to the coordinates given ok? The Vedean’s can sort out friend from foe later; our priority is clearing the ship. “ Nico nodded. "Right you are," he said. The computer had identified the Starfleet officers easily enough but there were a number of marks in and around the cargo bay which weren't identified. There was a possibility that the Vedeans had sent assistance but Tev was right about it not being a priority to sort through them individually. If the marks below weren't Starfleet then they were going to get transported to the Vedean secure location, wherever that was. He had the co-ordinates in the computer and locked on to five of the marauders in the cargo bay. "Coordinates are being received.... and passed on. You may energize at will", "Got them," Nico said, and transported the five he had targeted. "And there they go..." Teverine contacted the captain and then began to deactivate the technology on the beamed intruders. Wherever they ended up they'd be harmless, unless they had primitive weapons, but the Vedeans would surely be prepared for resistance. “It seems we can only transport 5 people at a time," Tev said. "Start clearing deck by deck Nico start in the cargo bay area.” "Five gone already, so let's move on to a general sweep," he said. "Five more on their way." As they worked progressing through the ships decks another voice came over through the communicator, and Tev managed to deal with the request, leaving Nico with the general transporting. As he sent another batch through to the Vedean co-ordinates, he wondered whether he should open a communication link with the destination point. "Hey Tev," he said. "Should we try and establish a link with the Vedeans down there, where we're sending these people? I mean, in case there is trouble, we should be as aware as we can be, right?" (Reply Teverine) (Posted by Ben) (SS Barwon - Shuttle Cockpit – ACSO, Ensign Teverine Tolqu - 11:45) Teverine surveyed the scanners all intruders where clear of the ship, he double checked the scene that lay before him before looking up, as Nico began. "Hey Tev," he said. "Should we try and establish a link with the Vedeans down there, where we're sending these people? I mean, in case there is trouble, we should be as aware as we can be, right?" “No Nico I think I have stepped out of bounds enough with the Captain already without taking on more problems, I am sure T’Vhor is already organizing that end. Let’s just report in our job is accomplished and let’s see what he wants us to do next.” (Reply Tchaikovsky) Teverine had no intention of doing anything further that would lend him to a further reprimand from his Superior officer, he knew though he had done good it was not necessarily the right thing, and he was sure he would get a dressing down as it was for leaving his post, even though he had no contact at the time and took matters into his own hands, he knew T’Vhor would probably not see it that way. =/\= This is Tolqu to T’Vhor the ship is clear of intruders sir. All have been beamed to the coordinates given, we beamed out all bio signatures that did not have a comm signal emitting from a Starfleet badge. =/\= (Reply T’Vhor) As he waited for a reply the dashboard where Nico sat began to beep. Looking up he frowned, the scanners were picking up a vessel which had just warped into the system. “Nico can you identify the vessel?” (Reply Tchaikovsky) =/\= Sir we have picked up an indentified Vessel entering the system, permission to orbit over the polar magnetic field to hide our position? We cannot identify the vessel at this time as it is entering from behind the 5th moon. =/\= (Reply T’Vhor) “We don’t know if they are hostile or not Nico, let me know what vessel it is as soon as it comes into range please.” (Reply Tchaikovsky) Posted by Peter Richards) (SS Barwon - Shuttle Cockpit – Counsellor, Ensign Nico Tchaikovsky - 11:45) Nico Tchaikovsky had the feeling that the Spectre would be up and running again soon enough, especially if things cntinued to work so well. Tev had managed to counter the radiation on the ship's hull and was now doing well with disarming any marauders while Nico transported them to the Vedean safe point. There was anxiety there still, of course, as Tev and the Captain had some sort of previous disagreement only hinted at really, but Nico was confident that Tev was feeling more 'useful'. And, Nico was happy to report to himself, it hadn't involved weapons or aggression - just simple, clean and innovative science. His eyes darted to a flash on the console even as a chirping sound came from the speaker. Nico had been running sensor sweeps of the space around Vedean in case whatever attacked the Spectre was out there with them. He hadn't expected anything, at least, not for the past five minutes or so since the last sweep, but there it was - a beeping reminder that not eveything you wished for came true. A vessel stretched out of warp near Vedea IV. “Nico, can you identify the vessel?” Nico's hands were running over the console. "It's not one of ours," he said. Tev opened a channel to the captain. =/\= Sir we have picked up an indentified Vessel entering the system, permission to orbit over the polar magnetic field to hide our position? We cannot identify the vessel at this time as it is entering from behind the 5th moon. =/\= (Reply T’Vhor) “We don’t know if they are hostile or not. Nico, let me know what vessel it is as soon as it comes into range please,” Teverine said. "It's registered as a Kelmarian shuttle," Nico said, running checks through the console. "Registry tags have it coming originally from the Alcar Six shipyards in the Kelmar system, but the shuttle itself seems to have passed through several owners' hands, including Breen and most recently Skorr." The Kelmar were excellent shipmakers and members of the Federation, but they also had a tendency to enter into trade agreements with others, even those who opposed the Federation (or at the very least were considered troublesome). The Skorr, on the other hand, were highly intelligent, artistic and (depending on the nature of the observer) potentially aggressive and warlike. "There's only one shuttle, though, and given its ownership history I'd say we had some kind of free trader out there. The hull has been modified as well, with what appears to be an expanded cargo section which would reduce the capacity for passengers and crew. I've got two life signals showing, one of them is definitely Skorr and the other could be human. No weapons systems though, and limited shield capacity." Nico turned and ran a hand through his hair. "I'd say the shuttle's here for a rendezvous, either with the Vedeans or the marauders below. Without weapons it doesn't appear to be a threat, but it is possible if whoever is inside the shuttle is connected with the marauders, then they may be able to send communications. We don't want reinforcements on their side." Normally, he'd pull out some piece of technology and begin to work on it, but now he didn't have that privilege. But he could do so mentally... She instantly knew that she was not on in the Secondary Life Support and rolled onto her back. She looked around cautiously as she removed her helmet. ~Hmm looks like labs. At least it is empty~ As she removed the rest of her suit she thanked herself for her forward planning. The small transporter redirecting device that she had installed into the suit had activated when they had tried to transporter out of Secondary Life Support. Luckily for her it had unceremoniously dumped her here away from anyone. It would take some time for them to realise that she had not been transported away but by then she would be a long way from here. She pulled open the pouches from her suit and pulled out what she needed. She grabbed the device and moved it over her red hair in a mater of seconds her once red hair had changed to blond. She then gently pulled out the ‘second skin’ which she had carefully packed and placed it in her face. She felt a slight tingling sensation as the dermal layers of the ‘second skin’ melded to her face. She grabbed the little mirror she carried and looked meticulously as the new face staring back only her blue eyes were the same. Once she was satisfied she gathers all her equipment and placed it in a ventilation hatch. One quick check to make sure every thing was the way she had found it she fixed the crewman insignia on her collar and a new comm badge to her chest. A hidden subroutine that had been down loaded into the computer when she had down loaded the virus activated. As she walked out of the door into the corridor, to the computer and every one on the Spectre she was now Amy Bruce a newly transferred crewman working in operations which would give her access to most of the ship. ~Right then, their stupid plan failed now I’m doing this for me ~ She turned right and headed down the corridor to find her target. As the shuttle rounded the moon, it moved towards Vedea IV at a quarter impulse, almost leisurely it moved towards them, as they came closer, Tchaikovsky opened hailing frequencies. "This is Ensign Tchaikovsky of the SS Barwon," he began. "Starfleet has been called upon to assist the Vedeans with an internal incident. I regret to inform you that Vedean space is currently off limits to your trader at this time." The viewscreen flickered on to reveal the two occupants of the vessel. Nico was a little surprised to see the very young, and nervous looking, pilot. He was human, at least, on first glance. The other occupant was an immature Skorr, his wings obviously not fully grown-in. =/\=This is The Crown Prince and my name is Jeremy Clarkingson.=/\= "As I have mentioned, Mister Clarkingson," Nico continued in a level voice, while remaining at his diplomatic best. The Skorr beside him shrunk backward and shook its head. =/\=No, no... there's nothing really you can ... er ... do.=/\= Nico smiled. "Then if your ship is able, I would suggest you return to the outer limits of the system and wait until this incident is dealt with. It was Jeremy’s idea to arrive here, a safe distance from their destination. It was his and Skaria’s first expedition as smugglers, they had been told about a contact on the world who sold the merchandise and information cheap. This was going to be there first Latinum rich expedition, there first score into the big life of riches and women. As they moved further into the system, Skaria looked at Jeremy with a slight amount of alarm, as his feathers’ rustled in displeasure. “Theresss a Starfleet vesselll.” Jeremy looked alarmed as his reptilian friend hissed out the words that brought panic to his emotions, an edge to this venture he had not foreseen. "WHile the captain is not in need of us I think we should force them into a few answers. Anyone with half a mind would have warped out of here in a heartbeat with what you just said." "You think?" "Let's scare them a bit and see what they say," Tev said. "Er, I don't think we should scare them, exactly," Nico said, not wanting to escalate anything with the small trader. "But now that they're settled we could ask a few more questions." He reached for the communicator and hailed the vessel. "Mister Clarkingson, this is Ensign Tchaikovsky again. At first he thought the warp core was dark, but Lieutenant H'Chir must have been able to get limited warp core capacity online in order to restore main power. That was a good start. They wouldn't be able to go to warp, but they should now have enough power to drive most of the critical systems on the ship. Now they needed to make sure the ship was in good enough shape to get back into orbit. The engineering crew of roughly twenty-five engineers were assembled around the warp core. "Listen up everyone," said Lieutenant Adams to the crowed of engineers. "Chief Engineer H'Chir was injured while getting the warp core started back up and restoring main power. We are now going to work together in order to get this ship off the bottom of the ocean. We are going to break into three strike teams, look at your PADDs for your team assignment. Alpha team, you are going to work on making sure all breaches in the superstructure are sealed. We can't have any gaps bigger than a few angstroms or we risk of a decompression once we are back in orbit. Beta team, you are going to work on making sure the structural integrity field is fully operational. Finally, Delta team, you are going to be working on the thrusters and impulse drive. They are rated to work underwater, but we need to make sure they survived the impact with the surface. Alright everyone, stay focused. I will remain here and coordinate. Don't hesitate to contact me if you run into any problems. Now, let's get to work." A small rumble of chatter between the engineers commenced as they started to break up and go to their duty assignments. Lieutenant Adams walked over to the Main Engineering Console and started breaking up the engineers into the three strike team. Afterwards, he brought up all the monitors focusing on structural integrity and impulse power. (reply any) (posted by Jason French) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 12:08) The Captain settled back into his chair, the first time in perhaps twenty or so minutes. Overseing critical operations was always stressful, even to those of vulcan blood... whether they actually admitted that or not. From his armrest console, the CO had a visible window on everything that was currently happening on the ship, and backed up by the audible reports regularly coming in from the Ops officer nearby, there wasn't much that would be missed. By now though, the Captain had begun liasing with the Vedeans themselves, who in turn had informed him that two of their most eminent scientists were on their way to the ship, their purpose being to assist the Spectre's engineers in something they had termed 'Zero point manipulation'... In itself, the description said little, to a Vulcan, reasonably skilled in the sciences however, it implied quite a lot. Indeed, the Captain would have to speak to the CEO, but the CEO was currently out of the loop so to speak. It was at about that time that power fluctuations began appearing on the Ops officers console and the subsequent reports that were to follow begged answers, which almost miraculously arrived as though by some inate telepathy running throughout the ship. =/\=Adams to Captain T’Vhor=/\ "Go ahead Lieutenant", said the Captain, sensing that an explanation regarding the power fluctuations might logically follow now. =/\=Sir, I’m having to take the Phase Cloak and Transporters offline in order to get the ship sturdy enough to get back into orbit. Once we are free, we can reduce the amount of power we are dumping into the structural integrity field and probably bring those systems back online=/\= The Captain himself then paused, his logical mind running through the options currently available to them. As problems went, this was probably up there amongst the largest of them, after all it wasn't every day that a spacefaring vessel found itself submerged beneath a sea! "Very well", said the Captain thoughtfully, "you may isolate whatever systems you may require in order to maintain structural integrity, you may not however, take any power from sickbay under any circumstance", he added. (Reply Adam's) "I must inform you also that we have two Vedean scientists currently inbound to us, I want you to give them any assistance they may require in carrying out what they will impart to us", said the Captain. If the structural integrity field dropped any lower, the ship could have imploded.” =/\=Correct, sir.=/\= “What do you need from me, Ensign?” =/\=The SIF is tapped out at 60%,=/\= he explained. =/\=If we are going to get it any higher, we are going to need more power. Is there any way you can coax any more juice out of the engines?=/\= “I’ll see what I can do,” responded Adams. “Adams out.” The comm channel closed. The lieutenant started running a diagnostic on the state of the warp core. The reading was clearly indicating a diminished deuterium flow. There must be damage in the conduits which regulate the flow into the antimatter chamber. Unfortunately, there wasn’t any engineers to spare to go find the damage and repair it. Hopefully Ensign Durgil would be released from Sick Bay soon. That could be his first task. Unfortunately, he was going to have to look elsewhere. He brought up a list of systems which were currently drawing power from the plasma flow coming from the warp engines. ~Hmmm. Interesting,~ thought Adams. “Computer,” he said aloud. “Shut off all non-essential systems and disable the phased cloaking system and reroute all power that was going to those systems to the structural integrity field.” [Holodecks have been disabled. Power to Astrophysics and the Theatre have been disabled. Phased Cloaking System has been disabled,] stated the computer. [Power rerouted.] “Okay and what’s the structural integrity field strength?” [Structural integrity field strength is at 78%] “Close, but not enough,” said Adams. “Computer, how much power is being diverted to the transporter system?” [123 megajoules.] “Take the transporters offline and reroute the power to structural integrity.” [The transporter system is now offline. Power rerouted to the structural integrity field.] “Okay and now what’s the integrity field strength?” [Structural integrity field strength is at 88%] “Okay,” said Adams. “That’s should be good enough until the impulse reactors come online.” He touched his comm badge. “Adams to Ensign Frank. The SIF should now be at 88%. That should help. Once Delta team gets the impulse reactors online, that should go up even more.” =/\=Yes, sir. I see the changes now. Thank you. Obviously bad cover story, as Nico slowly began to take it apart Teverine’s view of this new Cadet improved even more than he had thought, his inquisitive nature and calm proceedings when in conversation seemed to put these lads at ease, whereas he knew if he took the same approach his style of questioning would of probably grown blank looks and a swift retreat of the The Crown Prince. As there conversation grew to an end, Teverine’s ears pricked up and slight tingle ran through his palm. =/\=Some kind of medicine, legal though. And new age, you know? The pretties on Risa will love the stuff. But not illegal, no. We're just merchants. Legit, yeah? =/\= He almost didn’t hear what Nico said afterwards, so was he focused on the last sentence he had heard. ~ Are they really that stupid they did not know the Algae they were blatantly going to pick up for this Uncle was a narcotic? ~ As he quickly checked to see if any delivery or pick ups where scheduled to this system, knowing they probably were not. But ‘thoroughness was a good thorough thing to behold’ as he granddad used to always quote. "The boys won't leave, I don't think, so we can deal with them and the uncle once the Spectre is back in orbit. Has there been any change in its status?" Teverine looked up fro his console having been silent during the whole conversation. “No but I am sure the Spectre will contact us when we are needed, I am more concerned about these boys until we are needed. It’s our Starfleet duty to make sure this does not lead to any future problems.” (Reply Tchaikovsky) “That so called medicine is also an illegal narcotic. You have a good repertoire with these lads; see if you can get them to tell you the source they were supposed to pick up from. If we can track this back we can inform the Vedean Council and prevent an illegal sales trade from this planet. A worthy effort if I ever heard one.” (Reply Tchaikovsky) Teverine could not hide the bitterness in his voice as he ended his conversation with Nico; his hatred for narcotics ran deep within his veins, he would rather sit through pain than even take a sedative unless forced to under command. Any stimulation to him felt like a violation of ones natural being and sensation, even the painful ones, which he had always been told ‘all help an Ornaran grow into a stronger person’ as he was taught by his family. Even the thought of narcotics brought back painful memories of Perra and Teverine quickly turned his back on Nico and busied himself with cross checking the supply depots to see if there where any irregular amount of Algae. A clever supplier could hide his Algae in many ways if he worked for the processing plant. (Reply Tchaikovsky) (Posted by Peter Richards) (SS Barwon - Shuttle Cockpit – Counsellor, Ensign Nico Tchaikovsky - 12:15) Nico and Teverine watched the Crown Prince. The two young crew on board were now probably arguing with each other on how their meeting with Starfleet had gone, and part of Nico was amused at their youthful guile. “That so called medicine is also an illegal narcotic," Tev said as they stood. "You have a good repertoire with these lads; see if you can get them to tell you the source they were supposed to pick up from. If we can track this back we can inform the Vedean Council and prevent an illegal sales trade from this planet. A worthy effort if I ever heard one.” "Yeah, you're right," Nico said. He opened a communication between the Barwon and the Vedean council below. "The boys are probably better off stewing right now, though. They gave us a name and we should probably check it with the people below." Nico looked at Tev. "I've never spoken with a Vedean before," he grinned. A face appeared on the screen and Nico quickly turned to face the man, who appeared to be in his mid-forties. "Ah, good evening," Nico said. "I'm Ensign Nico Tchaikovsky, attached to the USS Spectre under Captain T'Vhor." =/\= Go ahead. =/\= "Thankyou. I'd like to run a name through your datafiles, probably looking for criminal activity. Matthew Rogers is his name, and we suspect he may be involved in illicit activities concerning Vedean algae." The man's eyebrows shot up, possibly the most universal gesture for surprise. Nico loved it. "We suspect he may be involved in smuggling operations. Please let us know and perhaps you can help intercept this operation." =/\= Please repeat the name. =/\= "Rogers, first name Matthew. Most likely he wouldn't be a native Vedean." =/\= Yes, Ensign. Let me see what I can do. =/\= "We'll stand by and wait." The man disappeared and his face was replaced with a government logo on the screen. Nico turned to Teverine. "While we're waiting, mind telling me what you know about the algae? I had no idea it was a narcotic. Didn't realise the Vedeans were into that sort of thing." (Reply: Teverine) (Posted by Ben) (SS Barwon - Shuttle Cockpit – ACSO, Ensign Teverine Tolqu - 12:18) "Yeah, you're right, the boys are probably better off stewing right now, though. They gave us a name and we should probably check it with the people below." Teverine nodded he had already anticipated this and had a link set up and ready for Nico to talk to someone in authority on the planet below, tapping his console Nico’s view screen flickered into life. "Ah, good evening," Nico said. "I'm Ensign Nico Tchaikovsky, attached to the USS Spectre under Captain T'Vhor." =/\= Go ahead. =/\= "Thank you. I'd like to run a name through your data files, probably looking for criminal activity. Matthew Rogers is his name, and we suspect he may be involved in illicit activities concerning Vedean algae." Teverine regarded the official’s look of shock at the name, but it was such a micro-second of an emotional display, Teverine was not even sure he had seen it. As Nico continued his conversation. "Rogers , first name Matthew. Most likely he wouldn't be a native Vedean." =/\= Yes, Ensign. Let me see what I can do. =/\= "We'll stand by and wait." A symbol of the Vedean’s central council appeared on the screen, an Ocean background in a faded pink hue, with a Vedean silhouetted on the horizon one fist raised in a pose of victory. "While we're waiting, mind telling me what you know about the algae? I had no idea it was a narcotic. Didn't realise the Vedeans were into that sort of thing." “Not at all, the Algae has made some widespread importance to its use in medicine, when broken down to a molecular level it has been proven to help cure many diseases. It helped cure the Bolean Virus which plagued Mars Colony back 3 years ago.” (Reply Tchaikovsky) “It has helped on a number of important planets throughout the federation, but unfortunately it had another use” Teverine’s cheeks flushed as he felt the heat rise at a narcotic being peddled to another victim. “It can be used in and processed as a narcotic, a highly addictive substance that is much sought after in shadier areas of the galaxy. I did start to study the Algae before we arrived and was preparing to receive a sample to investigate it further…” (Reply Tchaikovsky) Teverine let his sentence trail off as he lost himself in thoughts of his science laboratory, he wondered if it was all right and if Hightower had kept everything in order, he almost chuckled to himself at the thought of it being in order stuck leagues under a sea after an armed attack. The screen flashed in front of Teverine as he quickly accepted the transmission stream from the planet below which began to download the government files on its cargo movements over the past few months. He scanned the check logs of Algae deposited and commanded the computer to cross check with all outgoing numbers as the computer beeped its acknowledgement. “I took the liberty of uploading the data entries on cargo movements over the past 2 months.” (Reply Tchaikovsky) “I am performing a cross check now, my thought’s exactly” (Reply Tchaikovsky) The screen flickered back into life as Nico turned around, ending their conversation abruptly, so he could talk to the Vedean who now shuffled looking slightly impatient on the other side of the view screen. (Reply Tchaikovsky) (Posted by Peter Richards) (SS Barwon - Shuttle Cockpit – Counsellor, Ensign JG, Nico Tchaikovsky - 12:20) "While we're waiting, mind telling me what you know about the algae? It helped cure the Bolean Virus which plagued Mars Colony back 3 years ago.” "Seriously?" Nico asked. "I heard about the plague outbreak but didn't realise it was cured by algae." Nico looked back down at the planet and shook his head in wonder. "If it could be harnassed, then the Bolean Virus could be a thing of history. I wonder what took the Federation so long to find out about this little place." “It has helped on a number of important planets throughout the federation, but unfortunately it had another use," Teverine said. Nico noticed that Tev was having difficulty with his emotions, the flush of his cheeks and the hardness in his eyes told a story that wasn't quite clear yet. Nico knew that a time would come when Tev did tell him about his past, and hopefully Nico would be able to help, or at least to listen. “It can be used in and processed as a narcotic, a highly addictive substance that is much sort after in shadier areas of the galaxy. I did start to study the Algae before we arrived and was preparing to receive a sample to investigate it further…” Both of them looked to the ocean below. Nico wondered what the Spectre looked like down there, resting on the rocks far, far below the surface. It wasn't the place for a starship, he knew that. “I took the liberty of uploading the data entries on cargo movements over the past 2 months.” "Ah," Nico said. "So you can check to see if the boy's uncle has been shifting stockpiles around?" “I am performing a cross check now, my thought’s exactly,” Tev said. "Good stuff." The screen flickered back into life and Nico turned around, ending their conversation abruptly. "Yes? I'm sorry, but I didn't get your name before." The Vedean looked concerned. =/\= Belakor. =/\= The Vedean official was as short in his speech as ever. "Excellent, please to meet you. Have you had any success in locating Mathew Rogers?" He nodded. =/\= It is not a pleasant finding. We do not normally allow foreigners to work in the colloquisa plants, but Rogers came with high recommendations from prominent mercantile organisations here on Vedea IV. His apartment has been searched and your suspicions have proven correct - there was considerable evidence of smuggling. =/\= "Really?" Nico asked, exchanging looks with Teverine. "What kind of evidence, if you don't mind me asking?" Nico wasn't sure he was ready to believe the two kids were involved in real crime, but the Vedean seemed quite upset and if evidence had been found, well, Nico was beginning to feel like the kids were in way past their heads. =/\= A datadump was found containing contact information for several ... disreputable pharmaceutical companies. And there were three samples of our algae in the room. =/\= Nico wondered why the official was being so forthcoming with information. A part of his was still sceptical. =/\= We have contacted security forces and he will be apprehended forthwith. =/\= "Was there any evidence of actual smuggling?" The Vedean shook his head. =/\= Not solid evidence, no. When he is questioned we will discover more. The Vedean people are in your debt. =/\= He did some kind of salute and the transmission ended. Nico paused in front of the screen, trying to work out what was bugging him so much. "This is a bit convenient," he said softly. "And why do I get the feeling this is not right, at least, that we're not getting all the picture." (Reply Teverine) Nico sat down in the pilot's chair and began to run his fingers across the console, checking the previous scans of the Crown Prince. The cargo hold was large enough to contain a lot of algae, there was no doubt about that. Their fuel cells, however, were not powerful enough or full enough to get very far. If Belakor's list of pharma companies was legitimate, then the smuggler Mathew Rogers was only the first point in a chain. The kids and their shuttle were the second, but hardly a major player. They were probably just being used to get the algae out of the Vedean system. "I don't like this, Tev," he said absently. "I think those boys out there are being used. If Belakor's suggestion of large illicit company involvement then I don't see the two crew of the Crown Prince being used to ferry the drugs out of Vedea. And check the fuel levels on the ship, they're hardly enough to jump out of this system, let alone make it to some rendezvous point." He stood up and crossed his arms over his chest. "Either those boys are a ruse, and Rogers has another way to get the drugs out while the authorities were busy with the Crown Prince - or these boys are going to find themselves handing over the cargo to a bigger outfit, probably just outside of this system. I'd like to hear from Rogers himself but I doubt we have the pull for that, and we don't even know if he has been found. "Let's run a long range scane, see if we can't pick up any vessels in the outer system. At any rate we might be able to pick up the vessel which fired on the Spectre, or maybe if we're lucky we'll find a suspicious looking Ferengi trader out there or something." (Reply Teverine) (Commercial Tug - Bridge - Vedean Engineers, Retalik and Toran - 12:26) Vedean speak was decidely unlike most air breathing species scattered about the cosmos, indeed, had it not been for the update to the Federation UT, nobody would have even understood the sentence 'Zero point manipulation', let alone what the phrase actually meant. At this precise moment in time though, a Vedean commercial tug, bearing a name upon it's hull that was as equally nonsensical as the liguistics of it's occupants, arrived at the location of the stricken Federation vessel, where it then instantly swung about it's periphery assessing the extent of the damage before then settling in a cloud of silt about twenty metres from it's port aspect. Retalik leaned forwards from the console, his neck straining upwards as he looked out of the viewport at the ship, then in his own dialect, he proffessed as to the sheer size of the Spectre itself. "It's big", he said. The pilot beside him nodded and then began running scans via a green beam which had shot out from the tugs nose to run up, down, left and right of the Spectre's hull. "Size matter's nothing, you should know that", said a voice from behind. Retalik swung about in his chair, then he smiled as Toran entered the bridge. "I know that, it's just.... well, we were told this was a small vessel", said Retalik. Toran, moved towards him to place both hands upon the console, then he nodded in agreeance as he looked out into the murky green depths. "It is big, but it is also small... in comparison with other ships used by the Federation", he added. "As I was saying though, it makes no difference to us whatsoever" Retalik nodded and then turned towards the pilot, who had by now mapped the entire vessel where it lay, half embedded into the silt beneath it's keel. "Do you think they know we are here yet", he asked. "I would think they would, or at the very least we ARE expected", answered the pilot, just as Toran stepped back and away from the console. "Signal the Spectre that we are ready to dock with whatever port they prefer, all we need is a schema of the latch point to program the transmorph conduit, we can do the rest", said Toran. "On it now", said the pilot as he quickly began tapping instructions into a nearby panel. Moments later, a confirmation from a Spectre bridge officer, probably a Tactical officer of some sort, confirmed permission to dock along with a short data burst containing the required port dimensions of port nine, which just happened to be at deck thirteen... the Spectre's main engineering section. The pilot then began maneuvering the tug closer to deploy the transmorph conduit, which snaked about until it made contact with the Duranium hull of the ship before then sliding over and onto the port to instantaneously conform neatly to it's layout. A readout on the tugs console confirmed attachment and the pilot turned his head and nodded. "Ok, so let's see who's home shall we", said Toran as he moved rearwards down a narrow corridor towards the access hatch, followed quickly by Retalik, who quirked his head slightly towards the pilot with a raising of his brow. "I'm coming, I'm coming", he said eagerly, and then promptly tripped over the step, much to the amusement of the pilot who simply returned his attention to his console with laugh. "I'll be right here when you need me", he said, and then followed on with a quick reminder to Retalik about bringing back some of the famed Synthahol he'd heard so much about as the engineer disappeared out of sight down the corridor after his colleague with an echoing 'I'll see what I can do'..... This was why she found her self jammed in this precarious position. She held the hatch out of the way with her elbow as she worked quickly in the inner workings of the circuitry. ~That’s it. At lest it won’t blow now~ “What are you doing up there?” Audery paused and looked down between her knees to see a young looking ensign looking up at her. “Sir I have fixed the power really junction box delta twenty six. It would have failed if the power flow had been restored to full capacity.” She shifted the hatch back into place and then slithered back down the Jeffries tube so that she was standing in front of the ensign. “Who are you?” Audrey kept her body language calm but was ready to strike if the conversation went wrong. “I am crewman Amy Bruce Sir. Recently transferred in Sir. Working in the operations department sir.” The Ensign appeared to relax as he accepted what she had told him. “Okay I am heading for Stellar Cartography. Constructed of a green, plastic looking material, it's surface bore the ridges that denoted a telescopic manufacture that had simply extended, before becoming completely rigid on contact with the Spectre's hull. Toran, apparently the more forthright of the two Vedean's stood silent at the silver/grey docking port, glancing momentarilly at the organic flange of the actual umbilical that made up the transmorphic element of it's design. A small amount of water now pooled onto the floor of the umbilical as it ran off of the hull to collect at the engineers feet, as for the seal itself though, it was of course faultless. Retalik turned to Toran, a half baked smile appearing upon his face as he quirked his head slightly towards the door. "So do we knock... or just wait?", he asked. "We wait", said Toran rolling his eyes, "they know we are here, although they are probably expecting lab coated technicians, not hands on engineering scientists such as ourselves", he added wryly. No sooner had he spoke though, a series of audible clunks were to be heard at all four quadrants of the Spectre's docking hatch, followed quickly by the four section door components sliding into their corresponding recesses, thus providing the two Vedean's with their first view into one of the Spectre's airlocks and her waiting crew members immediately beyond it's inner door. Retalik stepped back momentarilly, not normally the type to rush head long into strange situations, he chose to refrain from just entering, his colleague however held no such reservations and immediately stepped forwards extending a hand to the waiting Starfleet officers. "Engineering scientist Palo Toran", he said introducing himself first, then turning to Retalik with a nod in his direction, he added, "my colleague Voran Retalik..... he, is a little shy" (Reply, whoever is actually meeting them) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Main Engineering - ACEO, Lieutenant JG Christopher Adams - 12:33) Adams watched the sensors as one of the Vedean Pods moved alongside of the Spectre and started docking procedures. Inform me if anything goes haywire.” With his instructions given, Lieutenant Adams felt he was leaving Main Engineering in good hands. Ensign Durgil was new to the ship, but he had shown the lieutenant to be a very capable engineer. The doors slid open and he looked down the hall to his left. At the far end of the hall he could see activity outside the ship and a red light flashing on the panel next to the airlock. A ship had docked and they were asking for permission to board. Adams walked up and pushed the button which broke the seal and opened the airlock with a hiss. One of the Vedean scientists walked out. “Engineering scientist Palo Toran,” he stated. He nodded to the other Vedean still in the airlock. “My colleague Voran Retalik..... he, is a little shy." “Pleased to meet you,” stated Adams with a nod. “I am Lieutenant Christopher Adams, Assistant Chief Engineer on the Spectre. It means, ‘show me what ‘ya got’" Toran shrugged and raised his eyebrows as though unsure exactly how he could just do that right now in the middle of engineering, then he vocalised that to leave no doubt on the matter. "Well, first we have to deploy equipment from our vessel, it will burrow beneath the Spectre and fan out to encompass it's width. I can't really show you what I have got as I do not have it upon my person", said Toran. “Okay,” responded the lieutenant. “What do you need from me?” "I will need you to power down your warp core to the absolute minimum, preferably completely powered down", said Toran, "it is important that no other forces are working against the field that we intend to create.... otherwise we may end up burying the ship in the mud" (Reply Adams) "I am aware of that, but you can restart the core at will I'm sure and if need be, I'm also sure that your Captain will authorise a shut down.... given that the result will be the return of his ship into orbit", said Toran. (Reply Adams) "Once we have deployed the equipment and run it up to speed, we can control the entire reaction from here via a remote link to the tug, I think you will find it rather interesting", said Toran smuggly. Retalik rolled his eyes once again and then sighed in response. (Reply Adams) Toran turned his attention to his quiet colleague and then gave him a nod to indicate that he was to return to the tug and prepare the equipment, then he himself took a seat next to the master engineering console, glancing around the room as he did so. "This is a very nice ship Lieutenant Adam's, I admire it's shiny displays, they are not like our Vedean displays at all", he mused. (Reply Adam's IYW) Toran just smiled and then ran a hand across one of the gill slits upon his neck. "I don't suppose that I can get any Vedean torgan leaf crush here can I?", he said. (Reply Adams, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Bridge - ACMO, Ensign (JG) Mitchell Huval, MD - 12:39) Mitch stepped on to the bridge from the turbolift. He looked around, the puddles from he and the away team’s entry were still fresh in the shallow carpeting. He walked to the edge of the command pit putting his hands on the rail he spoke in a controlled tone to T’Vhor. “Captain, if I could have a word with you.” (Reply T’Vhor) Mitch leaned in, he realized he should have completely changed out of his surgical scrubs before coming to the bridge, but there had been no time. “Sir, perhaps in your ready room, it’s about Lieutenant Commander H’Chir” (Reply T’Vhor) (Posted by Bobby Pirie) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 12:40) The Captain was just a tad surprised when the assistant medical chief walked onto the bridge. With their current level of crisis in sickbay, he assumed that he would have still been up to his proverbial ears in casualties, not here now on the bridge and apparently advancing towards him. "Captain, if I could have a word with you", he asked leaning onto the rail of the command area. T'Vhor noted the slight urgency in the ACMO's voice, clearly this was something that could not wait. "Of course, go ahead", said the Captain, noting also that the man had yet to change out of his surgical scrubs, which were still resplendent with the blood of at least four species, Andorian included! There was however, more than one Andorian on the ship so it did not necessarily mean that it was the CEO's "Sir, perhaps in your ready room, it's about Lieutenant H'Chir", said the Medic. The Captain nodded once and then stood extending a hand towards the door of the ready room as he did so. "After you", he said, and together the two officers walked towards the door. (Reply None) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Captain's Ready Room - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 12:42) Upon entering the room the Captain made directly to the other side of the desk and took a seat, then he signaled to Huval accordingly. "Take a seat Ensign, please begin", said the Captain, readying himself now for what he suspected might be news he would rather not be hearing. (Reply Huval) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Captain's Ready Room - ACMO, Ensign (JG) Mitchell Huval, MD - 12:43) "Take a seat Ensign, please begin", said the Captain. Mitch sat down as the captain had gestured. He took a deep long breath. “Captain, I have some good news and some bad news about Mr. H’Chir.” (Reply T’Vhor, iyw) “The good news is that the procedure to repair the damage from the head trauma was a success. I expect that he will make a full recovery in due time.” Mitch thought for a moment, choosing his next words carefully, “I’m not sure how familiar you are with Andorian physiology, but to sum up a semester long medical lecture, head wounds are no walk in the park.” (Reply T’Vhor) Mitch nodded and took out his medical PADD. Opening the program to H’Chir’s post surgical, “You can see here, where the damage has affected his radial prefrontal lobes. Now to you as a Vulcan, or me as a human, this is typically non-life threatening, if the standard of medicine is immediate and well planned. But to an Andorian this can cause complications.” (reply T’Vhor) “Well sir, this kind of damage can be fatal for an Andorian if medical attention is not immediate.” Mitch pointed to the engineer’s antenna and where they connected to the brain in relations to the head wound. “As you can see his antenna were not seriously damaged, but the trauma to the brain has affected their communication to the rest of the body. Andorian antenna are a bit like the human middle ear, they aide in balance, but also act as a kind sensor for special depth perception.” (Reply T’Vhor) “Correct sir. Now for the bad news. It is my diagnosis that he will need several months if not years of recovery time from this particular incident. Right now, I have no choice but to classify him unfit for active duty. I cannot allow him to leave sickbay and we need to get him to the closest starbase medical center.” (Reply T’Vhor) (Posted by Bobby) (USS Spectre – Bridge – FO, Williams - 12:43) Andrew had finally got him self to the bridge. There had been a power spike which had temperately sealed off his route and he had to navigate around it. He looked at the bridge as he entered. He saw the Captain and ACMO go into the ready room. ~How on earth did he get here before me~ He moved to his seat. ~Ah well at least I am back~ He tapped command in his console and quickly looked at the situation as it had changed since he had left the bridge. (reply any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Captain's Ready Room - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 12:45) “Captain, I have some good news and some bad news about Mr. H’Chir”, said the Doctor taking his seat on the opposite side of the Captain's table. The Captain simply nodded and then waited for the Doctor to continue, thus avoiding the usual tendency to choose one of the two to be given first. The Doctor made the choice for him.... “The good news is that the procedure to repair the damage from the head trauma was a success. I expect that he will make a full recovery in due time”, said Huval, pausing now before going on with a brief lesson on Andorian physiology and how it differed from a Vulcan's, or indeed, a human's. The Captain raised an eyebrow quizzically, then he addressed the ACMO more directly. "Perhaps you could show me what has occured visually", said the Captain, "I must confess, my knowledge of Andorian physiology beyond the antennae and the blue blood is somewhat.... limited", he added. Huval drew out a PADD and then pulled up H'Chir's surgical notes. “You can see here, where the damage has affected his radial prefrontal lobes. Now to you as a Vulcan, or me as a human, this is typically non-life threatening, if the standard of medicine is immediate and well planned. But to an Andorian this can cause complications”, said Huval. "What kind of complications Doctor?", said the Captain. “Well sir, this kind of damage can be fatal for an Andorian if medical attention is not immediate”, said the Doctor as he focussed the detail of the PADD onto the internal constructs of the Andorian cranium. “As you can see his antenna were not seriously damaged, but the trauma to the brain has affected their communication to the rest of the body. Andorian antenna are a bit like the human middle ear, they aide in balance, but also act as a kind of sensor for special depth perception.” "So in effect, you are saying that although H'Chir has survived surgery, he may be unable to stand without falling over, or being able to assess distance of an object beyond normal tactile feedback via physical contact?", said the Captain. “Correct sir. Now for the bad news", said Huval, going on now to describe how the CEO would effectively need the services of a starbase in order to fully recupperate, and then finalising his prognosis with a very definate ruling denoting him as unfit for duty at this moment in time! The Captain took a deep breath at the news, this was certainly of the bad variety. "Are you absolutely certain that this is the case?", asked the Captain, hoping now that there might be some chance at least that he may be incorrect in his assessment. (Reply Huval) "The if you are quite certain Doctor, then of course I must abide by that ruling", said the Captain thoughtfully, "although I am unsure as to how the chief is going to take this news, given the kind of officer that he is" (Reply Huval) "Very good", said the Captain, "I trust then that you will see to the necessary arrangements for H'Chir's care until we can transfer him to a better medical facility" (Reply Huval) The Captain nodded in response, and then duly dismissed the ACMO to return to the task of tending his patients. (Reply Huval) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Captain's Ready Room - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 12:55) The news from Dr Huval had been somewhat disconcerting to say the very least, it seemed that the CEO's injuries were not so slight after all, and that he would now be requiring the attention of a specialist facility elsewhere. This was not good news at all, H'Chir was without a doubt an invaluable officer, granted he could be a little 'strange' at times but the man was near legendary in his field! As Huval left the room the CO pondered their next moves. The Vedean Engineering scientists were now aboard of course, and their promises regarding getting the ship back into orbit within hours seemed a little far fetched to say the very least. Needless to say though, Lieutenant Adams was now working with them, a capable officer and engineer by anyone's standards but the Captain would still have rather had H'Chir on their case. If the Andorian was down though, and looking as though he were about to be medically incapacitated, that just could not be. The Captain duly made a note as to the departmental heirarchy itself. As the ranking officer in Engineering, Lieutenant Adams would now be the man to step up to the apex position....if he wanted it that was. The Captain finalised an entry into his log to that effect, then he called to the bridge. "Captain to bridge" (Reply Williams) "I'd like a status update on the shuttle please Commander, ask them also if they can verify an active trace on the ship that attacked the Spectre.... the moment we are flight capable again, I intend that we will be setting off in pursuit", said the Captain. (Reply Williams) "Once we are clear of the water, I will be calling a meeting of all senior officers, time to be announced, but ensure that we have collated all of the available date in lieu of that meeting", said the Captain. (Reply Williams) "Understood, Captain out", said T'Vhor as he closed the channel and then began reading the operational reports from Starfleet Command that had arrived moments beforehand due to their communications circuits having now reached full potential again. (Reply Williams, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Sickbay, Main Ward - ACMO, Ensign (JG) Mitchell Huval, MD - 12:57) Mitch had left the captain’s Ready-room feeling a bit sick to his stomach. He feared that H’Chir would be laid up for about a year’s time with rehabilitation, he would walk again, it would just take some time. Back in Sickbay, the mood was a bit lighter now. The shelter alert had been called off; the crew and officers in the sections near Sickbay had moved back to their posts. Mitch looked around at his Sickbay. Ceiling panels were stacked leaning on the wall near where they had fallen. Most of the equipment that had been jarred loose by the splashdown was righted. He looked at the four patients he had in the ward, he moved to the Engineer in the far back corner. H’Chir was laid out in a medical gown. Mitch looked up at the bio monitor, then turned to a hypospray recharging station along the wall. He inserted his hypo and charged a mild stimulant. The Engineer slowly came awake. His eyes opened and Mitch pulled out his Tricorder. “Mister H’Chir, it’s Doctor Huval. Can you hear me?” (reply H’Chir) “You took a nasty blow to the head sir, you just got out of surgery.” (Reply H’Chir) Mitch put his hands on the engineer’s shoulders to hold him down lightly, “You’re not strong enough to stand yet.” (Reply H’Chir) “I believe that Mister Adams is taking care of that right now. Look what I need you to do is sit up and follow this light with your eyes.” Mitch set his Tricorder’s handheld sensor to its pen light mode and moved it from left to right in front of the Andorian’s face. Drowsy, the man’s eyes followed with a slight twitch. (Reply H’Chir) “No, now listen, it is important that you stay here in Sickbay. You’re probably very tired.” (Reply H’Chir, iyw)) Mitch turned back to the recharge station. “This is something to help you sleep.” (Reply H’Chir, iyw) “I woke you up just now, because the amount of blood you lost, I needed to neutralize the anesthetic we gave you from the surgery. This is a sedative.” Mitch pressed the hypo into the engineer’s arm. He knew that there were a few fleeting moments between the engineer being awake and crashing into a fast drug induced sleep. She gave a mental grin. ~You really are green as can be Ensign~ “We are needed in the primary computer core. Try not to take to long crewman.” “Yes Ensign.” Audrey nodded as she covered her tracks and shut down the console. “Finished Ensign.” “Good lets go.” As she followed the Ensign out of Stellar Cartography she gave a fleeting smile as she noted the Ensign had a long way to got to be the leader of men, if he did not die first. The officer in charge of the crew, Ensign Keith Marciano, looked through the hatch into the inner chamber with a sigh. “Looks like we are going to have to pull the whole drive assembly,” the ensign stated to the group of engineering technicians that were standing beside him. “The whole thing is fried.
