"The Captain is already aware of the hypothesis, technically, it still is a hypothesis but it's getting pretty damned close to certainty now", said Gunnell. (Reply Any) "We'll know more once we have a more substantial sample, I'm going to request that the Captain send another probe into the river, this time one with a full spectral pallette and some", said Samantha. (Reply Any) The Doctor then returned her attention to the helix spinning slowly upon her screen. What secrets did it hold, what would it tell them? (Reply Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre – Sickbay – TAC/SC Charles “Chuck” Donaldson - 10:40) As Chuck calmly sat beside Judith’s biobed his commbadge went off. =/\=Bridge to Lieutenant Donaldson.=/\= Chuck paniced but she stirred only slightly. He slipped out of her room for a moment and opened the comm. channel “Yes, Captain.” Chuck replied. =/\=Do you feel that your... Judith is able to reliably answer questions specific to the Borg mission parameters yet? =/\= asked the Captain, correcting himself part way through the sentence. “She should be ready soon … but I can’t promise she’ll be coherent or easy to speak to directly. She’s still showing a lot of confusion.” Replied Chuck. =/\=Very well, I would like to speak with her the moment she is available and able to.=/\= said the Captain. “I’ll get her ready and enlist some aide from Counselor Kreung. No promises … but the people here is sickbay are doing everything they can.” Chuck flicked a glance at Nurse Pelletier and Nurse Dowsy as he spoke. They were both watching him approvingly. =/\=Understood, bridge out=/\= said the Captain closing the channel. “Is there anything we can do to accelerate her progress?” Chuck asked moving his glance between the two available nurses. (reply Pelletier, dowsy, any in Sickbay, any) (posted by Anton) (USS Spectre – Deck 15 - MXO, Major Bruce Kowalski - 10:52) Kowalski had just finished a discussion with the MCO regarding their redeployment to the Borg ship, Krige had been adamant that there should be no chances taken in regards the remaining lost drones and that they should shoot first and ask questions later. Kowalski could do little but agree. Walking towards the turbolift with an adjutant, he paused as his combadge chirped to life with the sound of the FO. =/\=Williams to Major Kowalski=/\= Kowalski turned to his adjutant with a wry grin... "Here we go", he said as he answered the call. "What can I do for you Commander?" =/\=The Captain and Doctor Gunnell are joining you and your team=/\= Kowalski furrowed his brow. Could things get any worse... "Wonderful..... that's all I need, brass and specialist babysitting", said the MXO. "Ok, I'm on my way to Marine Staging, I'm assuming by the fact that your on the bridge that their on their way there anyway so I'll take it from here", he added. "Wish me luck will ya" =/\=Understood. Good luck Major=/\= "Commander... kowalski out", said the MXO as he nodded to his adjutant and stepped into the newly arrived turbolift as it's doors slid aside to allow them entry. Chuck simply shrugged. Jynea was only making his dilemma worse. (Reply Jynea, Judith IYW) Judith turned to the Security chief with a questioning look upon her face. "What is.... husband?", she enquired, her query going back to an earlier address the Counselor had given her, whilst completely ignoring anything else. With a pathetic and paniced expression poor Jynea mouthed the word "SORRY!" so that only Chuck could see. “Well, you see …” Chuck reached up to rub his implant nervously but stopped his hand short and gave Jynea a sideways glance. "We would like to see the primary adjunct of this vessel, you will take us to that unit", requested Judith. “That’s not quite possible yet, Judith. I think perhaps we should stay here for a little longer. Jynea is a good host … we can have her for at least another thirty minutes.” Replied Chuck keeping a firm grasp on Judith’s arm in case she tried to bolt like a wild animal. (Reply Judith, Jynea, any) (Posted by Anton) (USS Spectre - Counseling Department - Ensign Jynea Kreung - 10:59) "That's not quite possible yet, Judith. I think perhaps we should stay here for a little longer. Jynea is a good host . we can have her for at least another thirty minutes." Replied Chuck keeping a firm grasp on Judith's arm in case she tried to bolt like a wild animal. "Very well", said Judith, "we will comply with the Orion until it is possible to communicate directly with the primary adjunct" "My designation is 'Jynea'" She offered, not quite sure what miracle Chuck wanted of her here. (Reply Donaldson/Donaldson) Counselling a woman who wanted to go back to the simplicity of being Borg should, technically, be easy. Boy, was she glad she wasn't a telepath right about now. "So, what do you want?" Jynea asked with no diplomacy or attempt at subtly that would just be wasted anyway. (Reply D/D) Jynea couldn't help a smile, "What do you wish your verbal intercourse with the captain to attain?" (Reply Donaldson/Donaldson) "Why?" Jynea asked simply. It was the greatest of all counseling questions and the answers or the non-answers always shed light into many shadowed corners. (Reply Donaldson or Donaldson) (Posted by Lorna) (USS Spectre - Deck 14 - ACEO Ensign Peter Talbot - 11:00) Still stunned from the events of the morning Peter walked back toward the turbo lift. On his way an officer, he had never met before, with Lt. Commander pips on his collar stopped and questioned him. “What is going on Ensign,” the officer asked. "Sir, I just lost 4 men in that plasma fire," Talbot said somberly offering very little information. “I’m sorry Ensign, but we will have to time to honor them later. Now we need to fix our problems.” the officer remarked. "Sir, there are plenty of them to be sure, Problems I mean sir." Talbot agreed. “Is there anything else to report,” the officer continued to question Talbot for information. "Well sir, the phase cloak was badly damaged," Talbot said. “Can that be repaired as soon as the fire is out,” the officer asked? Talbot replied, "At this time a repair schedule is unknown, sir." Finally the inquisition was over the unknown officer seemed satisfied with Talbot's answers and he moved on to interrogate the fire tech down the corridor. Talbot continued on toward the turbo lift and main engineering. (reply none, any) (posted by Jonathon Alber) (USS Spectre - Councilling Department - Judith Donaldson - 11:01) Judith was not accustomed at all to anyone gripping her arm in the manner the Security chief just had. In her capacity as a Borg drone, it would not have been tolerated, nor would it have been a wise thing for Donaldson to have been doing. As it was though, 'Two of Three' was no longer really a drone and her only response was to glance concerned at the hand that had gripped her. In a moment though it had loosened slightly of course, after all the Lieutenant had not sought to harm her once in all the time he had interacted with her, so why would he do so now? "That’s not quite possible yet, Judith", said Donaldson in response to her wish to speak with the Captain, "I think perhaps we should stay here for a little longer. Jynea is a good host... we can have her for at least another thirty minutes." Judith looked directly into the Councillors eyes, then she quirked her head slightly to one side as she regarded her. She did not look at all threatening despite the unusual green colouration to her skin, and besides, there was a part of Judith that had actually grown to trust the Security chiefs instincts. "Very well", said Judith, "we will comply with the Orion until it is possible to communicate directly with the primary adjunct" (Reply Donaldson, Kreung) The Councillor then stepped aside and allowed the two to enter into her domain. (Reply Donaldson, Kreung, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Councilling Department - TAC/SC Charles "Chuck" Donaldson - 11:02) "Very well", said Judith, "we will comply with the Orion until it is possible to communicate directly with the primary adjunct" "You mean 'Captain', Judith .. not 'Primary Adjunct'." Chuck scolded kindly. ~Maybe Jynea can at least occupy Judith while she works out the obvious.~ Chuck thought ~like the fact that I'm her husband~ (Reply Donaldson, Kreung, Any) (Posted by Anton) (USS Spectre - Councilling Department - Judith Donaldson - 11:02) "My designation is 'Jynea'", said the Councillor with a smile. Judith quirked her head slightly and then responded. "I was led to believe that organic Humanoids had 'Names' rather than designations", she mused. (Reply Kreung, IYW) It was really neither here nor there, as far as Judith was concerned she was simply passing time and soaking in as much as she was able about the new surroundings of the Federation vessel. So far she had ascertained that there were weaknesses in almost all of the airlock nodes throughout the ship, if she could interface with the primary ODN distribution network, then it would be a simple task to force the Spectre crew to vacate the vessel whether they wished to or not... "So, what do you want?", asked the Councillor, momentarily distracting Judith from her sabotorial thoughts. "There is no 'I', only we", stated Judith, "and 'we' wish to initiate communication with the Primary adjunct of this vessel", she added as though it were the most obvious thing in the universe. Jynea seemed unphased. "What do you wish your verbal intercourse with the captain to attain?", she asked, going immediately into interrogation protocol it would seem. "The relinquishment of all security protocols associated with this vessel", said Judith, "we are temporarily disadvantaged but....you will all be assimilated by the Borg" "Why?", said the Councillor. "Why not?", answered Judith. (Reply Kreung, Donaldson) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Councilling Department - Ensign Jynea Kreung - 11:03) "My designation is 'Jynea'", said the Councillor with a smile. Judith quirked her head slightly and then responded. "I was led to believe that organic Humanoids had 'Names' rather than designations", she mused. "I was trying to be polite and relate," Jynea offered. Really, she'd rather shove the drone out the nearest torpedo tube, which probably wasn't a very counsellory attitude. "So, what do you want?", Jynea had asked "There is no 'I', only we", stated Judith, "and 'we' wish to initiate communication with the Primary adjunct of this vessel", she added as though it were the most obvious thing in the universe. She managed not to roll her eyes. "We do not need to be assimilated. Defeating the Borg continuously on all fronts proves the superiority of individuality." Jynea answered simply. (Reply Donaldson, Donaldson) (Posted by Lorna) (USS Spectre - Counseling Department - TAC/SC Charles "Chuck" Donaldson - 11:04) Chuck had listened quietly to the conversation between Jynea and Judith. The intellectual foreplay of Jynea mixed with the cold rejoinders of Judith were becoming increasingly troubling. "We do not need to be assimilated. Defeating the Borg continuously on all fronts proves the superiority of individuality." Jynea answered simply. Chuck's jaw might have dropped had his implant not started to feverishly itch. He wouldn't scratch it for obvious reasons but it was very distracting. Judith began giving a list of individual species assimilated by the borg. Chuck begged to intervene. "What ... err ... why ... hmm ... Judith, do you remember anything about your life prior to assimilation by the borg?" Chuck stammered but managed. (Reply Donaldson, Kreung) (Posted by Anton) (USS Spectre - Counseling Department - Judith Donaldson - 11:04) "What ... err ... why ... hmm ... Judith, do you remember anything about your life prior to assimilation by the borg?", asked the Sec Chief. Judith quirked her head and then turned briefly to the Councillor, who seemed strangely quiet right now despite her earlier verbal sparring. Judith returned her attention to Donaldson, his eyes questing now for an answer she felt sure she would not be able to supply. "We... cannot answer this query...", she said, her eyes falling downwards as though partly saddened by that fact, "but, there are vague images that are not a part of what is known as the collective.... perhaps these imaqes pertain to that time", she answered hoping that that might ease Chucks obvious sadness. (Reply Donaldson, Kreung) Well, it was a start anyway and if the truth were to be known, Judith secretly yearned for this man and yet, she did not know why... (Reply, Donaldson, Kreung) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Councilling Department - Judith Donaldson - 11:05) Judith quirked her head to one side, the Councillors logic was flawed. "We do not need to be assimilated. Defeating the Borg continuously on all fronts proves the superiority of individuality", the Councillor had replied. Judith began walking around the Councillors office, examining and touching certain items as she went whilst the Orion looked on. "All fronts Councillor?", inquired Judith, "you are mistaken, the battle you know as Wolf359 was terminated by an android utilizing the combined logic of many.... individuality played no part in this", she added. "The Human and Orion colony's at Tau sigma IV fell to Borg incursion, as did the Human colony at Verinda Prime.... Species 521 - Shivolian, Species 4228 - Hazari, Species 6291 - Yridian, Species 218 - Talaxian.... all fell to the Borg despite their individuality", said Judith, turning now to face the Councillor directly. "Species 2461 - Brunali, Species 6961 - Katarian. I could continue... Individuality did not help any of these species from being assimilated Councillor. There is strength in the many, not the one", said Judith as she calmly returned to her investigation of the Councillors trinkets, picking up a small statue from the table as she did so. (Reply Kreung) Judith said nothing as she calmly replaced the artifact to the table and then moved to the viewport which looked out upon the Borg ship that had brought her here. "The vinculum is still intact", said Judith, "the Central Plexus is regenerating, it is only a matter of time before the link to the collective is re-established.... then you will see the weaknesses associated to your 'individuality' and resistance to assimilation", added Judith. (Reply Kreung, Donaldson) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Councilling Department - Morale Officer, Ensign Jynea Kreung - 11:06) Judith quirked her head to one side, the Councillors logic was flawed. Jynea smiled, she wondered if the ex-drone would be confused if she muttered 'here fishy, fishy' under her breath. "At current time, as I understand it, and I'll be the first to admit I could probably have a flawed understanding!, is that the Borg have gained no territory from Federation claimed space, but in fact have lost territory and numbers due to battles. Less ships, less citizens of the collective, are overall, losing the battle with the unification of individuals against the collective." (Reply Donaldson or Donaldson :) Judith said nothing as she calmly replaced the artifact to the table and then moved to the viewport which looked out upon the Borg ship that had brought her here. "The vinculum is still intact", said Judith, "the Central Plexus is regenerating, it is only a matter of time before the link to the collective is re-established.... then you will see the weaknesses associated to your 'individuality' and resistance to assimilation", added Judith. "Or we could just keep redamaging it so study the ship and its occupants further." She knew the average Starfleet officer would consider that cruel and unusual, but Jynea wasn't above a little vivisection to improve the lives of millions, if not billions. "Can the whole adapt faster than the individual?" She asked, mostly rhetorically, but any answer, she thought would be interesting. (Reply Donaldson or Donaldson :) Jynea couldn't help the grin, "I would love to play Go against you some time. I know it'll mean less than a hangnail to you, but I like you." Even considering she was Chuck's wife returned. Ah well, at least he wasn't knocking on her door for counseling about it.. er, well, yet. (Reply Donaldson or Donaldson) (Posted by Lorna) (USS Spectre – Corridor 14, Deck 4 – TAC/SC Charles “Chuck” Donaldson - 11:35) Chuck was busily explaining to Judith that the Captain wasn’t on the ship right now and that she would have to see FO Williams (who she insisted on calling “Secondary Adjunct”). Chuck was taking the long route and trying to gauge Judith’s responses to his enquiries. Judith was nothing if not persistent and Chuck had finally had to separate her from Jynea for obvious reasons. Although a catfight would be great entertainment he was in no mood on this particular day. As luck would have it the First Officer opened a communication to Chuck through the commbadge system. =/\=Williams to Lieutenant Donaldson. Come to the bridge immediately.=/\= “On my way, sir.” Said Chuck with a hint of ironic sarcasm … at least he thought it sounded a bit sarcastic. What luck … ordered to do what you’re already doing. (Reply None) (Posted by Anton) (USS Spectre – Bridge – Morale Officer - Ensign Jynea Kreung – 11:35) The most commonly known things about the morale officer was that she had green skin, that she liked Scotch even if she didn't drink it and that she hated bridge duty. The only thing that pried her out of her rounds of the ship to visit the head of the ship was if she felt the greatest need was there. Typically that was only when Captain T'Vhor wasn't present. Few crew got worked up when the Captain was handling everything with skill and calm. Unlike most Vulcans, T'Vhor did occasionally show his emotions which made the crew feel that the universe can't be going to heck in a handbasket if the Captain was composed. She stepped out of the turbolift and onto the bridge, squaring her shoulders. There was no point hiding in her quarters or office, the two people she hadn't want to see had already come and found her. Since her status reports had shown both the first officer *and* the captain off the bridge, she figured it was probably a good place to be. Her duty kind of demanded it of her. She'd managed to refrain from borrowing some liquid courage and instead told herself that if she got assimilated she'd at least get out of her troubled heart and if she got spaced in a wreck she'd have no more problems at all. Good thing she counseled others better than she counseled herself, she knew. She stepped down to the tertiary chair and sat down with a smile and slight nod to the acting Captain. She wasn't sure she'd ever seen the Bolian in the big chair before. "Anything I should know about?" she asked the busy officer. (Reply Chenoll, any) (Posted by Lorna) (USS Spectre – Captain’s Ready Room – TAC/SC Charles “Chuck” Donaldson - 11:37) Chuck had instructed Judith to remain on the bridge and stay out of the way. Giving Lieutenant Chennol various hand signals to indicate that she needed watched. As soon as the doors closed behind Chuck the FO asked the question of the day. “Donaldson how is your wife doing?” the FO asked. “She;s communicating and understanding more and more but she’s definitely not herself, Commander. “The Captain wants your wife and you over on the Borg vessel right now.” Said the Commander as an informant rather than a superior giving an order. “She’s still not well but if the Captain needs her and me over there we’ll go.” Chuck nodded affirmatively. “Medical support will be going across with you if your wife needs it but you need to go now.” The Commander stressed the urgency. Chuck understood the order. “We’ll beam directly from the bridge.” Said Chuck pausing a moment, “is that all, Commander, or will the Captain brief me over there?” (Reply Williams, Any) (Posted by Anton) (Borg Vessel - Unimatrix One - TAC/SC Charles "Chuck" Donaldson - 11:38) Chuck had been virtually coasting along trying to "find his way in the world" hoping that no one really noticed that sort of thing and his wife's incessant Borg-ed-ness was the source of annoyance for the recent past and foreseeable future. The Captain awoke him from his dreamlike doggedness. "Lieutenant, how much of your wife's... 'presence' would you say is evident within the Borg drone known as Two of Three, secondary, unimatrix Zero One ?", he asked. "The personality ... is not evident ... but the memories ..." Chuck managed to answer in a self-induced haze of diverse concern. "But all of her memories are still intact, somewhere within her mind", said the Captain. Chuck nodded but could provide little in the way of answer. The haze over his eyes showing his disappointment. The Captain returned his attention to Judith, changing his line of questioning as he did so. "Do you care for the unit known as Lieutenant Donaldson?", he asked noting now how the question caused an almost visible angst to appear upon her face as she glanced briefly towards him. "Care?", asked Judith. "How would you feel if his life functions were to cease?", said the Captain, clarifying the query. "We... we cannot answer that query", said Judith, Chuck's heart strings jumped slightly but things came crashing down as she added, "The query is irrelavent" "The query IS relavent", said the Captain, as he continued to move again around the rigid form of Judith as she stood there rooted to the spot. "Lieutenant Donaldson's existence, and those of all that are presently with us are currently threatened by the parameters of your mission", he added. "This does not make sense", said Judith, "the query is a hypothesis and the hypothesis is negated by lack of empirical data" The Captain shook his head in the negative. "The empirical data is in evidence right here, this vessel.... is unstable", said the Captain, "the core collective is offline and the controlling aspect of the ship is entirely nondescript", he added. Judith looked about, logically scanning the environment but failing to do so now due to the lack of her own Borg implants, then she returned her attention to the Captain himself, an enquiring expression now in evidence upon her face once again. Chuck was in a panic but tried desperately not to let his face tell. Would the Borg drone self terminate given the Captain's revelation? "The vessel is not unstable", she stated. "Your sensory data is incomplete", said the Captain, "how can you form an accurate assessment when the sensors you rely upon are no longer a part of.... you?", said the Captain. "And 'you' are no longer a part of the collective" ~Stop it, Captain, you're playing with fire!!!~ Chuck's mind screamed. He remained silent but he was starting fume at his superior. "If you would allow me...... I could supply the data you are currently lacking", said the Captain, an eyebrow rising as he glanced directly into Judith's face. Judith averted her gaze, predictably towards Chief Donaldson again. ~He can't be suggesting what I think. Now he's just crossed a line.~ thought Chuck ready to protest and taking a short step when Judith effectively blocked all his objections ... "You may integrate with us", she said. The Captain nodded and then moved closer to Judith until he could place the fingers of his right hand gently into contact with the key points of a Vulcan mind meld. Judith closed her eyes in response and the Vulcan hybrid began his work. "My mind to your mind..... my thoughts to your thoughts" ~Damnit, this can't be happening! I want involved in this. He intentionally short-circuited my efforts. Deliberately starting a meld to avoid my interference.~ Chuck fumed. He leaned against a series of randomly sealed wire conduit and folded his arms visible frowning. This wasn't going be any fun but the Captain would hear more of this ... as things were Chuck didn't dare interrupt as that could be disastrous to Judith. (Reply Judith, T'Vhor, Any) (Posted by Anton) (Borg Vessel – Unimatrix One – Captain T'Vhor and Judith Donaldson – 11:39) Donaldson had appeared 'pensive' upon his arrival with the ex drone, it was probably not an unfounded emotion on the Chiefs part but then, he had the welfare of his wife at the forefront of his mind. The Captain had stood immediately upon their arrival, the light blue glow of the beam-in barely disappearing from view before he had done so. "Lieutenant.... Judith", he said, wondering as he spoke just how the ex drone would respond to that form of address. Predictably, it was not clean sailing. "This units designation is.....", said Judith, turning towards her husband now as though unsure of what she should be saying, nuance visually emphasised now by the confusion that had suddenly appeared upon her face. (Reply Donaldson) The drone was clearly torn, for so long now the name 'Judith' had meant nothing to her, in fact it had ceased to have any relevance at all and now, here she was being addressed and referenced by it once again. "This units designation is 'Two of Three, Secondary adjunct, unimatrix Zero One..... the name Judith has no meaning to us", she said, the sigh from her husband clearly having no relevance to her either it would seem. The Captain clasped his hands behind his back and lowered his head slightly as he moved toward her and then proceeded to circle her, slowly. "You are aware of the primary mission details of this vessel?", he asked, gesturing around the room so as to indicate that he meant the Borg ship upon which she had arrived. "The primary mission is of no concern to any outside of the collective, the question is irrelavent", said Judith stoicly. "Nevertheless, you, as the secondary adjunct, are aware of those details", stated the Captain as he turned briefly towards the Security chief. "Lieutenant, how much of your wifes... 'presence' would you say is evident within the Borg drone known as Two of Three, secondary, unimatrix Zero One ?", he asked. (Reply Donaldson) "But all of her memories are still intact, somewhere within her mind", said the Captain. Donaldson nodded and then turned to his wife, a look upon his face which seemed torn now between a need to nurture and care for her and shake her to some sense, indeed it seemed as though he knew where the Captain was now headed. "We... we cannot answer that query", said Judith, her conscious mind obviously now battling with the cold logic of the Borg collective and the Human remnants that still dwelled somewhere within. "The query is irrelavent”, she added, the decisive tone of the Borg once again reaffirming it's presence. "The query IS relavent", said the Captain, as he continued to move again around the rigid form of Judith as she stood there rooted to the spot. "Lieutenant Donaldsons existence, and those of all that are presently with us are currently threatened by the parameters of your mission", he added. "The vessel is not unstable", she stated. "Your sensory data is incomplete", said the Captain, "how can you form an accurate assessment when the sensors you rely upon are no longer a part of.... you?”, said the Captain. "And 'you' are no longer a part of the collective" Judith fell silent, the logic in the Captain's statement being undeniable now even though the 'You' simply did not compute. The Captain had spotted his entry point though and immediately capitalized on it. "If you would allow me...... I could supply the data you are currently lacking", said the Captain, an eyebrow rising as he glanced directly into Judith's face. Judith averted her gaze, predictably towards Chief Donaldson again. (Reply Donaldson, IYW) The Borg had assimilated Vulcans before of course and Judith instinctively knew of their ability to meld at the mind level, it seemed though that the ability was vestigial at best, superfluous at worst. On this occasion though it would indeed supply what she was currently lacking.... Namely, all of the available data. Judith pondered this for just a moment, then she capitulated. "You may integrate with us", she said. The Captain nodded and then moved closer to Judith until he could place the fingers of his right hand gently into contact with the key points of a Vulcan mind meld. Judith closed her eyes in response and the Vulcan hybrid began his work. "My mind to your mind..... my thoughts to your thoughts"... (Reply Donaldson, Any) (Posted by Alan) (Borg Vessel – Unimatrix One – Captain T'Vhor and Judith Donaldson – 11:40) The mind meld had been surprisingly easily achieved, in fact the Captain himself had expected far more resistance than he had actually received. Perhaps the ex drone udith had wanted to be released from the collective influence more than she was actually letting on. Either way, Judith had been 'influenced' now into interfacing with the Borg central core once again. As secondary adjunct, she had done it many times before of course, the last time had been to initiate self destruct, this time however it was to simply release the mysterious door, thus revealing it's secrets to the Spectre crew. What it actually hid though was a puzzle in itself for it appeared that the Borg had been running tests of some kind on the material the river was constructed from. To investigate those findings now was not a prudent act though, the equipment would need to be shipped back to the Spectre for proper analysis and the sooner the better. As for Judith, the communication established by the Captain during the melding of their minds had instilled within her, something much much deeper, and it had clearly bothered her. Judith had actually reached up to her own cheek, the purpose being to remove something that had trickled down over it. That something had been a tear! This was very probably the first time she had truly connected with her Human side in a very long time, and it showed. (Reply Any, IYW) "Mr Donaldson, see to it that your wife is made comfortable once she is back on board the Spectre", said the Captain. (Reply Donaldson) The Captain glanced the contents of the room over once again, then he turned about contacted the Spectre. Chuck felt pretty useless and powerless to help or hinder the proceeding. ~It must be nice to have betazoid blood.~ he thought. "Mr Donaldson, see to it that your wife is made comfortable once she is back on board the Spectre", said the Captain. "Aye, Captain." Chuck nodded as T'Vhor and Judith seemed to fall out of their mutual bonded impairment. The Captain glanced the contents of the room over once again, then he turned about contacted the Spectre. (reply any) (posted by Anton) (USS Humboldt - Captain's Ready Room - Captain JT Talasario - 12:15) The events of the last few hours had been bizarre to say the very least, it seemed the Subspace River itself had developed some kind of 'sentience' facilitating it's actual lashing out at the Borg ship and the Spectre. Whether it had been entirely intentional in both cases was still a puzzle but the Federation ship had taken a fair amount of damage to it's Engineering deck resulting in a damaged cloak, whilst the Borg vessel had been sent spinning off in an uncontrolled arc into the void. As of this moment though, both ships were back on station with the Borg vessel held in a tractor beam and damage repair teams having successfully brought the Spectre to a state of calm once more. As for Talasario, he just seemed to be losing crew these days! Settling back into his chair, he kicked up his feet and let out a heavy sigh in response to the latest communique from Starfleet command. Orders had just come through that yet another of his crew, Lieutenant Commander Banowsky had been reassigned mid-mission, back to the Spectre. So what the hell was going on with Starfleet? Why would they do this to him, he a decorated Captain, albeit having once fought for the other side! It seemed though that they were using his ship as some kind of god damned taxi service to reassign personnel and it wasn't sitting well with him at all. Who was he though but a lowly Captain to go against the wishes of the senior brass, perhaps his past was catching up with him after all... With a frown, Talasario sat upright in his chair once again, then he made the call to the Officer in question. "Talasario to Lieutenant Commander Banowsky, please report to my ready room at the double", he said and resumed his prior recumbant position of before. (Reply Banowsky) (Posted by Alan) (USS Humboldt - Personal Quarters - Lt. Cmdr Will Banowsky - 12:16) Will was sitting on a couch in his quarters practicing his guitar and reminiscing at the beautiful sight outside his window. No, it wasn't space, it was the Spectre, to him the most beautiful ship in the fleet. Will had been at the helm of many different types of vessels, runabouts, shuttles, his former posting the USS Dennison, and the Humboldt, but nothing compared in his mind, to the helm of the Spectre. With phase cloak on, or with warp engines humming, she was for him, the ship he always longed for. He was sad that the Dennison had been destroyed sure, he was her former First officer after all, but nothing compared in his mind to the Spectre. He had served on her dillegently, his first posting lasting longer then a day. No ship he had served on could match up to the memories he had at her, the Dennison was a close second, but she was just that second. The Humboldt probably second to last on his last, last of course was his job in the JAG corp. He had thought that might have been what he wanted to do with his time in the service. But truly he had the itch for the helm. And after a couple detours, of the first officers jair, or the prosecutors desk, he was back, and even though the Humboldt wasn't the Spectre, at least he had a nice comfy chair at the helm. But he could almost reach out and touch her. ~Wouldn't it be awesome if the Captain let me go over there, you know to help out with repairs. I wonder whose living in my old quarters.~ His train of thought however was interupted by the not so melodic beep, at least compared to what he had been strumming on his guitar, of his comm badge. =^=Talasario to Lieutenant Commander Banowsky, please report to my ready room at the double=^= Tapping his comm badge he replied, "Aye sir, I'm on my way." Then gently placing down his guitar and sipping up the over shirt of his uniform, which he liked to have unzipped whenever he had the chance. He quickly exited his quarters, wondering what was so urgent. Hopefully he wasn't in trouble, or that the captain didn't have any questions on prosecutions by the JAG office,he had been asked many times before by other crew members if he had any knowledge of some of the prosecutions on Geneva, of some of there bodies, most were common misdemeanours, bar fights, etc., he didn't have any knowledge of that of course. When he left the JAG office, he stopped keeping up with the docket. It bored him, it wasn't as exciting as the helm. Hopefully that isn't what the captain wanted to know, if any of his friends had minor cases going on at Geneva. (Reply None) (Posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Humboldt - Captain's Ready Room - Lt. Cmdr Banowsky - 12:20) Getting there as fast as he could, he buzzed the door to the ready room, and entered. "You wanted to see me sir?" (reply Talasario) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Humboldt - Captain's Ready Room - Captain JT Talasario - 12:21) The chime announcing the arrival of Banowsky to the CO's ready room had been answered with a curt 'enter' by Talasario who was now seated, arms resting upon his desk whilst perusing the nearby terminal which now displayed the record of the Lieutenant Commander himself. "You wanted to see me sir?", said Banowsky. Talasario never took his eyes from the terminal for one minute of course, he simply pointed to the chair opposite him and bade the man to avail himself of it whilst he continued to peruse his file. Talasario was like that, some people considered him arrogant, others just a fool with connections that had helped him retain a command irrespective of his past exploits on the Alacrity. JT had little concern for them of course, he was a career officer plain and simple and one who would not let the petty remarks and opinions of others marre that in any way shape or form. "I did", said the Captain upon finally finishing his readup and settling back into his chair once more. He took a deep breath and clasped his hands together before him upon the table, then he began. "How long have you been with us Lieutenant Commander?", he enquired, knowing the answer already of course but still requiring the answer anyway. (Reply Banowsky) Talasario nodded. "And how do you like your tour of duty so far?", he asked. (Reply Banowsky) "Your record is exemplory, you are what some might consider to be a model officer, good at their job and an accomplished command player", said Talasario, noting as he spoke how the expression on the Lieutenant Commanders face seemed somewhat confused at his present line of query. (Reply Banowsky) Talasario quirked his head slightly and raised his brow in a display of apparent uncertainty himself, then he broached the subject proper. "The fact of the matter Lieutenant Commander, is that command has seen fit to transfer you to another vessel", said the Captain. "In their infinite wisdom, it would seem that they feel that your abilities are much more suited to a ship of war than those of a Science vessel", he added, perhaps inwardly a little jealous now that he had been effectively mothballed to the Humboldt whilst hankering for a ship of war himself! (Reply Banowsky) Banowsky seemed confused and had queried the ship in questions name, clearly he was not looking forwards to having to get used to yet another new crew and it showed upon his face. The Captain however had neglected to definately name the ship in question, he had merely closed the terminal and then stood from his chair, then whilst making his way towards his personal replicator, he gave the Lieutenant Commander what would ultimately be his last order on the Humboldt. "Gather your things together immediately Lieutenant Commander, you are hereby relinquished of all duties on board the Humboldt and are cleared for disembark. Report to the Spectre at your leisure", said the Captain as he removed the drink he had just requested from the aperture of the replicator to take a slow sip of the cool juice. (Reply Banowsky) "That is all Lieutenant Commander, you are dismissed", said Talasrio curtly. (Reply Banowsky) Banowsky then made good his exit leaving the Captain to his beverage, AND his concerns. (Reply Banowsky) (Posted by Alan) (USS Humboldt - Captain's Ready Room - Lt. Cmdr Will Banowsky - 12:22) Entering the ready room, Will noticed that Captain Talasario never took his eyes off of his terminal. After being pointed to a chair across from the Captain, Will obliged and sat down. "I did", said the Captain who then settled back into his chair. He took a deep breath and clasped his hands together before him upon the table, then he began. "How long have you been with us Lieutenant Commander?", he enquired, knowing the answer already of course but still requiring the answer anyway. "Since we left for this current assignment sir." Will replied. Talasario nodded. "And how do you like your tour of duty so far?", he asked. "No complaints, beats prosecuting drunken crewman and cocky ensigns who start bar fights. I enjoy being back on a bridge behind the helm. I would say I enjoy it. The Humboldt is a great ship, and I feel confident in my abilities to pilot her." Will replied. He had misgivings about the Captain, due to the civil war. Will spent the early part of his time as a JAG doing research for prosecutions of some war crimes and the like involved with the civil war before he was moved to a lead prosecutor in the misdemeanor, or as it is commonly referred to, the drunk tank circuit, not to mention Will's being a veteran of the Civil War. However despite Will's feelings about the war, he had come trust Captain Talasario and respect him, and like all the commanding officers he had served under, he would give his life for him. "Your record is exemplory, you are what some might consider to be a model officer, good at their job and an accomplished command player", Talasario said. "Ummm thank you sir, I'm honored to hear that." Will said a bit confused and taken aback. Talasario quirked his head slightly and raised his brow in a display of apparent uncertainty himself, then he broached the subject proper. "The fact of the matter Lieutenant Commander, is that command has seen fit to transfer you to another vessel", said the Captain. "In their infinite wisdom, it would seem that they feel that your abilities are much more suited to a ship of war than those of a Science vessel", he added. "I'm being transferred sir, but we are all the away at the edge god knows where. Where am I being transferred to?" Will was very intrigued and confused, he had no idea why he was being transferred. He enjoyed being on the Humboldt, she wasn't as sleek at the helm the Spectre or the Dennison were, but he was probably the best helmsan the Humboldt had, and though he had trained some of the young ensigns in the CONN department, and they had gotten pretty good, he was wondering why he was being transferred now, and to where. Will was not prepared to leave, he had been on the Humboldt for about 5 months and he wasn't ready to leave another crew. "Aye sir, is there anything else?" Will was pleased to be returning to the Spectre but did not want to outwardly show it to the Captain. "That is all Lieutenant Commander, you are dismissed", said Talasrio curtly. "Before I go captain, I just want you to know, that it has been an honor serving you, and I mean that sincerely." Will then made his exit to pack. (Reply Talasario if you wish) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre - Deck 14, Engineering - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 12:57) The Captain stood both hands leaning against the railings of the cloak aperture, it wasn't a particularly inviting sight at all for the cloak itself had been badly damaged by the rivers 'whip like' assault upon the ship. It had been so quick in fact, that the SIF and inertial dampers had failed to smooth out accepted Newtonian physics, the subsequent result being the mess he now observed and worse, five dead crewman! H'Chir's teams had done their best of course and the ship had regained what could be termed an acceptable yellow alert status once again, the CEO though was not at all pleased and had arrived back in the midst of it all barking like a wild blue dog at what the river had done to 'his' Engineers and his 'mechanical baby' as he often termed the ship. The open plan, two deck Engineering department itself though was now a veritable hive of activity and Adams and Talbot could clearly be seen up above tinkering with some of the auxiliary conduits feeding the cloak itself with a few other engineering crew. The Captain did not envy them. His mind though was now on the lost crewmen and the 'always' sad task that now lay ahead of him in regards informing Starfleet command of those losses. The chirp of the CO's combadge though momentarily broke him from his thoughts and he quickly answered the call. =/\=Lt. Commander Banowsky to Captain T'Vhor, permission to come aboard sir=/\ The Captain paused briefly, and then responded... Vulcan-like. "Permission granted Lieutenant Commander", he said somewhat dryly. His mind was still elsewhere at the moment of course, although given the current situation evolving around him, it was hardly surprising regardless of his inherently calm genetic makeup. (Reply Banowsky) "I can meet you in my ready room in an hour to discuss your transfer and such, I understand that quarters have been arranged for you already.... I am a little..... preoccupied at this moment in time", said the Captain casting his eyes once again over the smouldering and burnt out wreckage of their cloak as he spoke. (Reply Banowsky) "An hour then.... Oh, and Welcome aboard Lieutenant Commander", said the Captain. (Reply Banowsky) The comm was then closed. How strange this all seemed, it wasn't that the Captain wasn't pleased to have heard the familiar voice of an old friend amidst all the chaos of course, he was, it was just that as a hybrid Vulcan he wasn't particularly emotional at the best of times anyway. Being a pure blood certainly had it's advantages and there were times when the Captain wished he was precisely that, as it was though there would always be that clash of heritage within him, that oft times overwhelming desire to vent coupled with the need for cold, unemotional logical calm. It was his cross to bear though and nothing, but nothing would ever change that. The Captain drew his hands from the rail and looked to a nearby Ensign who nodded appropriately to his superior officer. "Carry on", said the Captain as he then made his way from Engineering. Sad because Will was almost a mentor to the young ensigns, but happy to have the Commander out of the CONN department, meaning an easier shot of becoming the Chief Conning officer. After he was packed, they helped him bring his belongings to the transporter room, and saying his goodbyes he was beamed over to the Spectre. Once there, a couple crewman were present to help accommodate the bringing of his belongings to his new quarters which by some luck of the draw just so happened to be a vacant room, a room will knew all to well. I am Lt Cmdr Capps, Assistant Security Chief. May I walk with you to your quarters?” "Sure, Commander, I guess." Will replied. He knew he had not personally met commander Capps, but the name seemed familiar, as if he knew of it. It sounded familiar but he couldn't quite but his finger on it. Then looking at Capps, he started to remember where he had seen him before. Lt Cmdr Capps entered the transporter room and found Lt Cmdr Banowsky already inside. Calvin had hoped he would make it to the room before the new officer transported over. The computer in his office gave him a bit of a problem. With Calvin being new to the department he still had security procedures and programs to learn. However as soon as he finished he raced over to Tranporter 1. Observing the room Calvin noticed that Lt Cmdr Banowsky belongings were already gone, so it was safe to say some crewmen took it to the new officer’s room. He also noticed that Will was talking to someone over the comm so he stepped over to the transporter board. He ran his fingers over the board and it confirmed that the man tranportered over was Lt Cmdr Banowsky. Once Will finished his conversation with, Calvin now knew, the Captain he approached the Lt Cmdr and extended his hand for a standard earth hand shake. “Welcome aboard Lt Cmdr Banawky. Lt Cmdr Banowsky walked with a sense of direction and Calvin couldn’t help but notice that the new officer knew exactly where he was going. As the two officers caught back up with each other shoulder to shoulder they continued with their conversation. "Well my last duty station was the Humboldt, I wasn't among those transported for transfer, hehe, I guess technically, since I was at the helm, I'm the one who brought you here." “Thanks, I was happy to be out of the office and back on a starship.” Calvin quickly said letting Will finish. Communication and knowledge is key so the more information the better. Besides knowing that you served on the Spectre before explains why you are moving around the ship so well.” Calvin continued walking down the corridor and turning a corridor he pondered if he should go into more detail of his Starfleet career or not. “Before the Spectre I served on the Paladin as Chief of Ops up to First Officer. Before the Paladin I also….” Calvin was about to reveal the first ship he had ever served on and it so happened to be a ship that Lt Cmdr Banowsky served on. After a short pause Calvin continued “….I also served on the Cochrane. In fact I was the First Officer on the Cochrane when it was decommissioned. So you were there for only a short time. I am sure we must have met then?” (reply Banowsky) (posted by Calvin) (USS Spectre - Deck 2 Corridor - Lt Cmdr Will Banowsky - 13:08) “Before the Spectre I served on the Paladin as Chief of Ops up to First Officer. "I don't think we met, I got there literally the night before she was decommissioning, I didn't meet any of the senior staff, except for the Captain. In fact, if I remember correctly, there was an event going on when I got on board, and I was sent to go meet the captain at your birthday party." (Reply Capps) The two continued along the corridor, it was still awhile as Will's quarters were near the end of the hallway, but Will continued "leading the way". "Don't remember much about the Cochrane other than that, wasn't on there long enough. If I remember from my time talking with him Captain T'Vhor served on the Cochrane to didn't he?" Will asked, intrigued, didn't realized how "connected" his service history seemed to be with some of the crew he didn't know, beyond just hey, we serve on the Spectre. (reply Capps) "You said you were first officer of the Paladin, did you serve there with Captain T'Vhor as well?" I almost thought Captain T'Vhor's first FO was gonna be from the Paladain, ended up being some guy from the Boudicca. Can't remember his name though." Will managed to spit out that mini rant without taking a breath, he was prone from time to time to rant about random things, something that he had curbed while stationed as a JAG, but being on the Spectre brought it right back out. It was a good thing him and I became friends rather than enemies other wise he would have a chance to get back at me now.” "You said you were first officer of the Paladin, did you serve there with Captain T'Vhor as well?" But once again T’Vhor and I have became really good friends over our careers. When he was offered to move over to the Spectre I was extremely happy for him. And you couldn’t believe my surprise, although proud and happy for him, when he made Captain of the Spectre.” Calvin thought back. (Reply None) (Posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre - Personal Quarters - Lt. Cmdr Will Banowsky - 13:13) Will entered his Quarters, and took a quick survey of where all his stuff was. It was his old room all right, all the way down to the couch facing the windows. He could have started to unpack, but that could wait. There was something he wanted to do first. Test drive the bed. So walking over to the bed, he plopped down to rest until his meeting with captain T'Vhor. (reply none) (posted by Will Banowsly) (USS Spectre - Deck 13, Torpedo Storage Area - TAC/ASC Lt Cmdr Calvin Capps - 13:20) Calvin could no longer play the waiting game on the bridge, so he ordered Ensign Devlen to take over the tactical station on the bridge. The Lt Cmdr also saw this down time as a good opportunity for Ensign Devlen to get some bridge experience. The facts were that a Borg ship is floating in space near them, and the River was acting violently toward any external stimuli. There would be plenty of standard scans and test for the Ensign to do. In the mean time Calvin made his way to the torpedo storage room to inspect it. Again with multiple possible threats and a down time being foreseen Lt Cmdr Capps knew it would be a good time to check over all of his systems. Calvin walked into the room and immediately saw two personnel working. He lifted his padd and pushed a few command buttons on it. It then displayed the two officers name that was currently working in this area. Both of them were crewmen, Crewman Vidia and Crewman Locks. Crewman Vidia spotted Lt Cmdr Capps first and approached him. "Welcome to the 'basement' Lt Cmdr Capps. What can I do for you?" Calvin was surprised hear the Crewmen use his name because he wasn't aware that his name had spread across the Security department so fast. He also was curious why the crewman had called the room 'basement' but shrugged it off as a nickname they had given it. "Thank you Crewman Vidia, I am here to inspect the torpedo complement. Specifically I will be running diagnostics on 4 random torpedoes." "Yes sir. I can assure you that every piece of firepower in this room is working at 100%. My team does a thorough job sir," Crewman Vidia wanted show confidence to Calvin. "I wouldn't expect any less." Calvin walked over to the first torpedo set, and searched for the four numbers that had been randomly selected and then uploaded on to his padd. The Lt Cmdr found the first one and knelt down on the ground to reach the outside casing of it. With a level 5 security clearance number Calvin removed the board interface casing on the torpedo. Once opened he was able to reach in and take out a data transfer cord which he directly linked hooked up to the padd. The only thing left to do was wait while the padd ran the diagnostic. Approximately 5 minutes later the test was done, and the results came back with 250 green, 0 yellow, and 0 red alerts. It seemed the Crewman had done well with this set of torpedoes. Calvin moved on to the next 3 torpedoes and went through the same steps. In all four torpedoes Calvin didn't find a single problem. "Crewman Vidia excellent job. I will make sure to put this in my report. Keep up the good work." "Thank you sir." Crewman Vidia then turned away and went back to work while Calvin turned and left the 'basement.' He still had to unpack a box with pictures of family, but that could wait. It was nice to be back on the Spectre, but he couldn't help but feel like she was a different ship then the last time he saw her. Like coming back to a high school reunion, he felt like he was an interloper, that this wasn't his Spectre, it was the current crew's Spectre, and in time it Will be his again, but it would be a different experience, most likely, then the last time around. However, it was time for Will to head to the bridge, and meet with an old friend. (Reply None) (Posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre - Captain's Ready Room - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 13:58) "That is correct sir", said the Captain, "Doctor Gunnell is convinced that what we are facing here is indeed a lifeform" =/\=Oh come now Captain, surely you, more than most should know how 'illogical' that actually is=/\= came the reply from a somewhat stern looking Admiral Jefferson. "Indeed", said T'Vhor, "and yet, I find myself following the same reasoning, the river is exhibiting reaction to external stimulus, it appears 'aware' of it's surrounding and has shown evidence of intelligent behaviour.... it is most fascinating", he added. =/\=Fascinating or not, if you seriously expect me to submit Doctor Gunnells findings as statement of fact then I want FACTS, not fascinating hypothesis=/\= The Captain raised an eyebrow in contemplation of that, clearly the Admiral was perturbed but then he had requested regular updates on this matter, irrespective of what they might inevitably suggest. "The Borg protocol and log entries will provide this I feel, Doctor Gunnell and other members of our science team are disassembling this as we speak", said the Captain. The Admiral shifted in his seat uncomfortably on the monitor, then he exhaled heavily. =/\=Is the river showing any more signs of hostile behaviour Captain?=/\= "Not at this time sir, since the attack upon us and the Borg vessel, it has been inactive apart from sporadic sequencing events occurring at a molecular level within it's constructs", said the Captain =/\=Very well, keep me informed of any developments..... I will pass on your condolences to the families of your lost crew of course=/\= "The Captain nodded. "Thank you sir", he said. The monitor then returned to the familiar starfleet logo it always showed when inactive, which was almost precisely the moment the chime sounded at the door. The Captain beckoned the officer on the other side to enter and in walked Lieutenant Commander Will Banowsky. The Captain stood and extended a hand towards him. "It's been awhile sir", said the Lieutenant Commander as he gripped the Captains hand in a Human handshake. "It has Will", said the Captain, referring to the officer by first name now in respect of their old friendship. "You wanted to meet with me sir?", said Banowsky. "I did indeed... I have read through your starfleet file with interest, noting that you have been far from idle since leaving us", said the Captain. (Reply Banowsky) "Captain Talasario is a good Captain, however, I fear that he lacks support from some in Starfleet..... the Alacrity situation no doubt fueling that lack of support", said the Captain. He saw there were a couple of crewman injured from their experience with the Subspace River . He felt a pang of regret as he realised again that his actions on the bridge had far reaching consequences. He saw Douwsy looking after a patient. He saw her look up and a fleeting smile crossed her face. “Are you a bit lost Commander? The Bridge is two decks up.” Andrew gave her a hard stare. “Less of that cheek Nurse.” “Yes Sir.” Andrew saw a grin dance across her face. “Look Nurse Douwsy. Just get on with you duty’s and tell me where Dr Kirien and Dr Tethys are?” “Dr Kirien is in bay 4 and Dr Tethys is working in bay 5.” Andrew nodded. “Thank you Douwsy.” He walked through sickbay towards an alcove which held the two intensive care beds. He saw that Kirien and Tethys were both finishing working on there respective patients. He waited until they had both finished before he spoke to them. “How are we doing?” (reply Kirien, Tethys ) Andrew nodded. “I was passing by and was wondering if I could have an update on the patients as I am heading up to the bridge?” (reply Kirien, Tethys) Andrew nodded. “Thanks. Decided I wanted to go back to Starship duty, and when a Lieutenant Commander with command experience says the want to go back to serving on a Starship, they generally say yes. Got on the Humboldt, got behind the Helm, mentored some ensigns, and then one day I wake up and they say, hey your going to the Spectre, and all I could say was thanks." Looking out at the Spectre, I was pretty jealous of the crew on board." "And I trust that your quarters are satisfactory?", asked the Captain, having already arranged for them to be the ones that he used beforehand. "It feel almost as if I never left sir, almost..." Will paused, he had left, and he had been gone, and it was evident to him that the current crew was not the same as the crew he had previously served with. The Captain then stood and made his way to the replicator. "May I get you something?", he asked. "Yes sir," Will said as he looked at the replicator, how many times before had Captain Remae offered him a drink from that exact same replicator. "I'll take a glass of water." Will then waited until T'Vhor had handed him a glass of water and the both sat down. Then taking a nice sip of water, Will looked at the Captain spoke. "So how have you been sir?" (Reply T'Vhor) "I will probably say this a million times, but it is very good to be back on board sir. Looking out from my window, seeing the Spectre, it was almost as if she was taunting me, saying haha, I'm so close but you won't get to serve on me. Nanner nanner boo boo. Or something like that." Will was obviously getting a little too excited. (Reply T'Vhor) "Sure beats the hell out of desk work. You think going to the JAG corp after a civil war there would be some fun cases. And sure, there were some stuff I did early, with legal research. But even though I was a Lieutenant Commander, and was experienced as an officer, I wasn't as lawyer. So when all the other Commanders, and even Lieutenants got to do bigger stuff, I had the experience of an ensign, and like them got stuck prosecuting bar fights. Thought JAG was my calling, but I didn't know it until I went to Romulus on the Hades, and I only got that gig cause of my star ship experience, how much I missed serving on Starship, and that when I left the Dennison, I left my calling." (Reply T'Vhor) "So tell me Captain, do you know anything more about my transfer, Captain Talasario only mentioned that my skills were better suited on board a ship of war, and not a science vessel." "So how have you been sir?", he had inquired. The Captain took a sip of his drink. "I've been well, apart from a slight episode of recurring Risan flu", he said settling back into his seat, "but then, it could always be worse" Banowsky took a brief sip of his drink and then appeared to reminisce somewhat on old times, mentioning as he did so how after much to'ing and fro'ing between various departments and trips to Romulus, he was finally glad to be back on the Spectre once again. One peculiar phrase he had used however had caught the CO's attention. "Nanner nanner boo boo Will?", he inquired with a raise of an eyebrow. (Reply Banowsky) "I see", said the Captain, once again failing to grasp the intricacies of Human phraseology. It escaped him at the best of times of course and on this occasion, the CO had remained predictably true to form. (Reply Banowsky) The Captain took another sip of his drink and then brought up the question of their operational status. "Sir, I feel the need to point out that the last time I tried to coordinate anything with Chief Engineer H'Chir he felt the need to create a proximity alert, alerting him anytime I got near engineering. No problems on my part, just saying", said Banowsky. "I was not aware there was tension between yourself and the Chief Lieutenant Commander", queried the Captain. "I trust that this will not interfere in any way with your duties?" (Reply Banowsky) "Lieutenant H'Chir has had what can be best described as.... a stressful situation involving the Tal Shiar, he is also known to be somewhat volatile at times, however, I see no reason why he should need to resort to 'proximity alerts' in engineering to alert him of your presence", said the Captain. "If he does need to then I suggest that you resolve your differences at the earliest opportunity.... I will not tolerate anything less than complete cooperation between my key officers", said the Captain. "Aye Sir", said Banowsky as he quickly returned to his allotted duties which included contacting first the Chief of Ops, and then the aforementioned Andorian CEO. (Reply Banowsky, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Bridge - Lt. Cmdr Will Banowsky - 14:08) Will entered the bridge and took in the awe of the bridge, he "grew up" as an officer on this bridge. It was like coming back to the home of his youth. He relieved the officer at the CONN and took his seat. It was here were he was gonna do most his work. If his configuration of having the CONN station be an auxiliary OPS station had been changed, it would just be a quick program retrieval to get everything back to the way he liked it. Turning his chair around he faced the captain. "Sir, I feel the need to point out that the last time I tried to coordinate anything with Chief Engineer H'Chir he felt the need to create a proximity alert, alerting him anytime I got near engineering. No problems on my part, just saying." (Reply T'Vhor) "Aye Sir," Will said as he rotates his chair back to face the View Screen after he took a quick scan of the bridge noticing that the officer at the Ops station was an ensign and definitely not a Bolian Lieutenant. "Lt. Commander Banowsky to Lt. Chennoll" Will said tapping his Commbadge. (reply Chennoll) "I'd like to be kept up to date on the status on our power status." (reply Chennoll) "Thank you Lieutenant" Will then, timidly tapped his commbadge a second time "Bridge to H'Chir, This is Lieutenant Commander Banowsky. I'm your bridge Liason, is there anything I that you need down there. And umm, I promise not to step on your toes, this time around." (reply H'Chir) (reply H'Chir, T'Vhor, and Chennoll) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre - Engineering - CEO, H'Chir - 14:10) "The phase inverter Ensign, the PHASE inverter", said the Chief, his antennae gesticulating wildly at the apparent ineptitude of the Ensign in question. The man had actually passed him a coupler, why that actually was was a puzzle, perhaps it was simply due to the fact that everyone knew the Andorian often 'lost it' when faced with any kind of a mistake and the man was just on edge, either way it was a mistake he should not have made under any condition. "Sorry sir, I assumed you were coupling the feeds", said the Ensign sheepishly, handing the CEO the Phase inverter as requested. H'Chir then delved into the opened panel and then proceeded to align the requisite energy coils. It was then tthough that the comms chirped to life to further the annoyance of the Andorian Engineer. =/\="Bridge to H'Chir, This is Lieutenant Commander Banowsky. I'm your bridge Liason, is there anything that you need down there. And umm, I promise not to step on your toes, this time around=/\= "Step on my toes Mr Banowsky?", said the Andorian confused now, "I wasn't aware that you ever 'stepped' on my toes.... perhaps did what everyone else seems to be doing around here lately and 'got in my way' but stepped on my toes.... no", said the Andorian. (Reply Banowsky) H'Chir sighed and then glanced to the Ensign beside him, who shrugged and then raised both eyebrows. "But anyway, liase away Lieutenant Commander, at this moment in time I need an uninterrupted flow of power to the tractor beam emitters and all primary circuits, I've taken the cloak offline so that should give you something to play with if need be", said H'Chir. (Reply Banowsky) "Very well, just make sure that nothing interferes with the replicators, coffee is rapidly becoming my saviour right now.... H'Chir out", said the Chief as he returned to the task in hand, namely stabilizing the primary couplings so that warp containment didn't begin fluctuating. (Reply Banowsky, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Bridge - Ensign Jynea Kreung - 14:10) She'd stood when the Captain came across the bridge, and sat back down again when he disappeared into his ready room. T'Vhor seemed neither to discourage or encourage the actions of respect Captains were due and most of his crew saluted or stood when he came onto the bridge. Jynea wasn't quite sure how sincere her's seemed when she didn't even look up from the PADD she was madly typing on. But, it was better than ignoring him completely, she supposed. As soon as the Captain came through there was a lessening of tension. She supposed she'd wasted her efforts in coming up to the bridge, but since no one seemed to be demanding she give up the chair or be elsewhere, she was more than happy to sit right back down in the counsellor's chair and go back to working on the outline of her dissertation. Inspiration had finally struck and she realized if she finished it she could finally get her promotion to Lieutenant and transferred far, far away from one Charles Donaldson and maybe even back to Earth where she could serve in a nice large department where she wasn't constantly thrown way out of her depths and comfort zones. Not to mention there would be a whole planet full of people she could have physical contact with without fear of them screaming 'Ick! Orion germs!' Her dissertation was on the origins of the Borg, what psychological evolution would lead to a sentient, feeling, race tying themselves up to a computer. There had to have been a motivation in the beginning, and fates knew there was enough data on the Borg, their ships, their drones, their actions and their queen from Voyager and the Enterprise to do a backwards evaluation. She half heartedly noted the new CONN officer who sat down like he owned the place. Perhaps he did, or perhaps it was part of the mental make-up that got you a position as a senior officer on the Spectre. The only one without ego and judgment, in her experience, was Doctor Williams and she was feeling cynical enough to think he may just hide it better than the rest. She supposed she should investigate the potential hostility between the chief engineer and the new CONN officer, but she had full faith in H'Chir's ability to take care of himself. She suspected if the new comer really honked off the Andorian enough, he'd find himself without a sonic shower and only able to take glacier tempretured baths. Her first instruction on getting to the academy had been 'Never mess with an engineer' and she'd yet to experience anything to contradict that instruction. (Reply any/all) (posted by Lorna) (USS Spectre - Bridge - Lt. Cmdr Will Banowsky - 14:11) "I was not aware there was tension between yourself and the Chief Lieutenant Commander", queried the Captain. "I trust that this will not interfere in any way with your duties?" "No problem on my part sir, I was actually quite fond of Lieutenant H'Chir," Will sad, for all the "hostility" that may or may not have existed between himself and H'Chir, Will was quite of found of the engineer and knew, from experience, how good of an officer he was. "Lieutenant H'Chir has had what can be best described as.... a stressful situation involving the Tal Shiar, he is also known to be somewhat volatile at times, however, I see no reason why he should need to resort to 'proximity alerts' in engineering to alert him of your presence", said the Captain. "If he does need to then I suggest that you resolve your differences at the earliest opportunity.... I will not tolerate anything less than complete cooperation between my key officers", said the Captain. "Aye Sir," Will said as he rotates his chair back to face the View Screen after he took a quick scan of the bridge noticing that the officer at the Ops station was an ensign and definitely not a Bolian Lieutenant. He then proceeded to contact Lt. Chennoll so that he could become apprised of the power situation. After that conversation was over Will then, timidly tapped his commbadge a second time "Bridge to H'Chir, This is Lieutenant Commander Banowsky. I'm your bridge Liason, is there anything I that you need down there. And umm, I promise not to step on your toes, this time around." =/\=Step on my toes Mr Banowsky?", said the Andorian confused now, "I wasn't aware that you ever 'stepped' on my toes.... perhaps did what everyone else seems to be doing around here lately and 'got in my way' but stepped on my toes.... no=/\= "Well, don't worry I wont try and get in your way. H'Chir out", said the Chief as he returned to the task in hand, namely stabilizing the primary couplings so that warp containment didn't begin fluctuating.=/\= "You got it Lieutenant, let me know if there is anything else you need." Will then quickly started entering data into his console, he was going to transfer the power that would be going to the cloak system, which was to the tractor beam and primary circuits. He was also going to shut off all holodeck and similar recreational areas, while keeping power to the replicators, as well as music playback systems, as he didn't want to keep anything calming away from the crew. Ten Forward also had power as well. He hoped he wouldn't get in hot water witht he Captain, but it didn't seem like anyone had holodeck time anyways. Will then tapped his commbadge, "Lt. Chennoll, I've rerouted the power that would be going to the the cloak and holodecks to the tractor beam and primary circuits to try and get those up and running, just wanted you to be advised." (reply Chennoll) Will was hoping that he wasn't overstepping his bounds, it was his second first day on the Spectre after all. "Banowsky to H'Chir, Any power that would be going to the the Cloak and holodeck recreation systems are no being sent the tractor beam and primary circuits, see if that helps things, I'll be monitoring power flow up here, let me know if this helps. (Reply H'Chir) Will then turned around to see an familiar face engaged in a conversation with Captain T'Vhor and the Orion counselor. It was great to see Andrew again. It was even nicer to see him as the First officer, Will thought he deserved it. He waited until a brief conversation between the Captain, Counselor and Williams died down a bit and then interjected. "Not meaning to interrupt, but it is great to see you again Doc...er...Commander." (reply Williams, any) (reply H'Chir, Williams, Chennoll, any) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre – Bridge – FO, Williams – 14:20) Andrew entered the bridge. He saw that Kreung was sitting in her chair by the Captain. A mental smile flashed through his mind. It was nice to see Kreung on the bridge. It looked like she was working on something and remembered how much trouble he had doing his essays for his command course and whished her, the best of luck. He moved over to this seat and sat down. “Captain, Counsellor.” As he looked around the bridge brining him self up to speed on what he had missed when he was away. He saw the figure of Banowsky at the conn. A smile crossed his face as he nodded at him. ~So Will made it back. Good for him. I need to see him later and catch up with him~ Will Banowsky had been the FO for a time when Andrew had been the CMO. He was glad to have him back on board. The last he time he had seen Will had gone off to be the FO on the USS Dennison. It would be interesting to see how things had changed since then. Andrew looked back at the view screen and hopped that the next time they went near the subspace river it would be in a better mood. The tilt of her head and the twinkle in her eyes said she was intentionally and obviously lying through her teeth for the sake of tweaking the Captain. It simply belied belief. Replacing the Phase inverter back into it's position within the allignment kit, H'Chir finally dismissed the young Ensign he had been working with, then he made his way to the master console and tapped in a few commands to investigate things further. Immediately, the levels began to rise of course thus indicating a job well done, a red indicator on the hull status panel however was indicating yet another problem.... Micro-fractures! This had been reported earlier of course but up until now, it had been minor and had not needed further attention until spacedock, the fractures however were spreading and further attention was now an imperative! Turning about, the CEO spied that Ensign Talbot was at that time working on the secondary feeds at the far end of the corridor, it had actually been him that had reported the fractures in the first place so with that in mind, the Andorian called him over. "What's been happening with the aft hull plating?", said H'Chir. (Reply Talbot) "I would tend to agree with you, what we first assumed were stable fractures however have escalated", said a now worried looking Andorian Engineer. (Reply Talbot) H'Chir scratched his head as he contemplated the problem, then he began tapping further commands into the console, shaking his head after about the third stab of it. "Someone is going to have to go out there", said the CEO, "how do you fancy a little shuttle ride and possible EVA Ensign?", he added. (Reply Talbot) "I'll clear it with the bridge", said H'Chir as he continued to gaze worried at the rising figure upon the console. "There's no way we can go to warp with that happening, take Lieutenant Adams with you, I hear he has a certain flair with Zero G maintenance" (Reply Talbot, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Engineering - ACEO Ensign Peter Talbot - 14:30) A few hours after the disastrous fire on deck 14, Talbot was working on some secondary power feeds that had been damaged. He heard the Chief's unmistakable voice summoning him from the other end of the corridor. Talbot stopped what he was doing and quickly made his way to answer the Chief, while Peter was still a few steps away H'Chir began questioning the Ensign. "What's been happening with the aft hull plating?", said H'Chir. "Sir, as I reported at 1200 hours there are multiple micro-fractures in the external aft hull plating. The stability scan of the plating indicated the fractures were stable and did not require further attention." Talbot reported. "I would tend to agree with you, what we first assumed were stable fractures however have escalated," said H'Chir. "How do you wish to proceed sir," Talbot asked? Talbot waited for orders as the Chief scratched his head and tapped at his console. "Someone is going to have to go out there, how do you fancy a little shuttle ride and possible EVA Ensign?", the Chief asked. Talbot replied sounding very Vulcan, "I am able to undertake the assignment sir." "I'll clear it with the bridge", said H'Chir. "There's no way we can go to warp with that happening, take Lieutenant Adams with you, I hear he has a certain flair with Zero G maintenance" "Aye sir," replied Talbot. Once he received his new orders from the Chief Talbot went back and assigned the work he had not finished to another engineering officer. Talbot began walking toward the turbolift, as he did he tapped his combadge. "Talbot to Adams," he said. (reply Adams) "Chief H'Chir has order you and I to repair the micro-fractures in the aft hull plating. I trust you enjoy Zero G maintenance. Please meet me in Shuttle Bay 1," Talbot said. The Captain had been about to make a suggestion when their new conn officer offered his assistance. (Reply Banowsky) Banowsky was more than qualified for the sorte of course and the Spectre was more or less at station keeping right now, so with that in mind the CO gave a nod and Banowsky stood from the Conn, another officer immediately taking over from him. "Lieutenant Commander Banowsky will meet your men in shuttle bay One Lieutenant...keep me informed of your progress and be sure to exercise the necessary bio-hazard protocols if your men need to leave the shuttle", said the Captain. =/\=Aye sir, it's already a done.... Knowing that this was as good a time as any to volunteer Will turned his chair and faced the captain. "Captain, if I may, I'd like to volunteer to pilot the shuttle." he said beaming confidence, and itching to fly the shuttle. It was exciting and interesting and it brought back memories to his first day on the Spectre and a similar task that saw him fly and assess the Spectre for damages. The Captain gave Will a nod and Will stood from the Conn, with another officer immediately taking over from him. Will then immediately headed to the turbolift. Wondering who else he should take along on the shuttle excursion, he decided that a science officer would not be a bad addition to the team.. With himself piloting, and the two engineers possibly out of the shuttle working on the ship, it would be nice to have another officer to help monitor the situation. "Computer, who is the Current ACSO on duty?" Will asked to get a response on who might be available to help as he wasn't familiar with the current spectre crew and it's duty roster. <> Will then tapped his commbadge, rather quickly as the turbolift was nearing Deck 5. Luckily he was the only CONN officer in the bay and the only Lieutenant Commander, so he would be easier to spot. Will then approached the type 11 shuttle sitting in the bay, the designation was the Crusader NCC-8741/2, Spectre Shuttlecraft 2. Approaching the Crewman who was tending to shuttle maintenance in the bay he spoke. "Crewman, begin prepping the Crusader for departure and for Zero G repair of the Spectre." "Aye sir", Will said, as the Crewman motioned for another Crewman to come and help him, eliminating two of the operations division present, he was hoping that the other two might be the engineers who were going out into space with him. (Reply Bradley, Talbot, and Adams) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre - Shuttle Bay One - Lt. He figured this was Ensign Bradley and he waited for the ensign to approach him. "Sir you said i was needed in shuttle bay 1 for a little excursion may the assisant science officer be of servise to you this afternoon sir" Will smiled, he could see that the ensign was eager. It wasn't too long ago, close to two years ago, that Will had been in Bradley's shoes. An eager young ensign out to make a name for himself. And he did just that. Thanks to the need for command officers during the civil war, Will shot through the ranks, reaching the rank of Lt Commander in a span of 4 months after his posting on the Spectre. But those were tougher times then. Will's career had slowed down considerably, and where he once was in a command position, he was back were he thought he would be at this time when he started the service, a CONN officer. Granted one with experience as a dual chief in the CONNing and Operations departments during his first posting on the Spectre, as a third, then second officer, as a First officer and as JAG officer. But the slow down was good for will. He needed time to slow down, and he had it. He was in a job he loved on a ship he loved. The shuttle bay doors opened and will powered up the Crusaders Engines. =/\=Shuttle Bay One to Crusader you are clear for departure.=/\= "Acknowledged," Will said as he pressed the controls and propelled the the Crusader forward and out of the Shuttle Bay. =/\=Shuttle Bay One to Crusader, you have cleared Shuttle bay doors.=/\= "Acknowledged." Will then began to set the heading on the shuttlecraft to the area to be repaired. "Crusader to Spectre Bridge, we are proceeding to begin repairs." (reply Any on Bridge) "Alright we are almost at location, Talbot, your out first, you ready." (Reply Talbot) (Reply Talbot, Adams, Any on Bridge, Bradley) (Posted by Will Banowsky) (Shuttle Crusader - Crew Compartment - ACEO, Lt Chris Adams - 14:53) "Right you are sir", said Adams giving a cursory wink in Talbots direction as though it were obvious that they should be getting ready for their excursion anyway. Banowsky had continued with an advisory regarding maintaining an open comlink, just in case anything untoward were to happen, and Adams had nodded again. "Believe me, I'll feel a whole lot better knowing that your there to haul us in if it does sir", said Chris. Banowsky then cleared the shuttle for launch with the bridge and they were off into the black, Talbot and Adams now needing no cue as they shifted rearwards to the equipment lockers to suit up in their EVA suits. "I hope the damned heater is working in this suit", said Adams turning to Talbot as he got ready, "the last time I went EVA my suit's heater malfunctioned.... damn near froze my ba....", he added as his sentence was cut off by Banowsky alerting them that they had arrived. "....Talbot, your out first, you ready", said Banowsky. (Reply Talbot, IYW) Adams closed the visor on his helmet and then gave a thumbs up also, then he and Talbot stood and proceeded to the airlock for deployment. (Reply Talbot, Banowsky IYW) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre – Bridge – TAC/ASC Lt Cmdr Calvin Capps – 14:54) Calvin was now back on the bridge monitoring the semi-away mission that was in progress. The TAC officer had all the readings any TAC officer would need pulled up on his console. He watched the Crusader fly out of the bay and toward the fractures in the hull. There was a small percentage of any object or person to interrupt with the Zero-G mission, but any percentage meant that it could happen. The Borg ship and the unpredictable River just a short distance away did increase the chances of an unusual event to happen. =/\=Crusader to Spectre Bridge , we are proceeding to begin repairs.=/\= Calvin heard the incoming call from the Crusader. He glanced at all departments on the bridge for a positive ‘go’ from everyone. He then tapped a single button on his console. “Spectre to Crusader, you are clear to proceed,” Calvin responded. He sat in his chair keeping an eye on the status of the ship. He had been slightly disappointed about the Captain’s choice of away team members. This was due to the fact that Andrew felt happier in zero-g than in normal gravity and had ranked up more hours in zero-g then nearly anyone else on board. ~I can’t have all the fun. Have to give other people the chance to enjoy it to~ He watched as the shuttle exited the shuttle bay and manoeuvred in space. =/\=Crusader to Spectre Bridge , we are proceeding to begin repairs.=/\= Andrew watched as Capps got permission and continued. “Spectre to Crusader, you are clear to proceed,” He looked at the view screen as the image of the shuttle moved towards the fracture. ~I so hope this is the last misshap we have on this mission~ He had an uneasy feeling that he would be wrong. "Bradley bring sensors online, keep an ongoing scan for Borg activity" “Aye sir sensors are online “ "Adams, Talbot, once we clear bay doors, I want you two to prepare for your excursion." (Reply Adams, Talbot) "Make sure you leave an open comm link, at the first sign of trouble, I'm going to do an emergency transport and get you both on board. Is than understood." (Reply Adams, Talbot) "This is Commander Banowsky, Shuttle Bay 1 prepare for departure." (Reply Talbot) After waiting until Talbot replied Matthew asked the commander “ sir I know I know what Lt Adams and Ensign Talbot are doing but what am I her for sir almost sounding excited he suggests wait a minute do I get to scan for subspace anomaly are some nasty roumlans sir he he he or maby even navigate a plasma storm” after going on like that for a few minutes Commander will stopped him and said ( Reply Will) (Reply Talbot, Adams, Any on Bridge, ) (Posted by Roy Weygant) =========================================================================
