Kurt Palmer - 14:38) After the hubbub on the bridge, it became clear, that the admiral was fully in control of their present situation... "...take the Doctor and the CSO down to Sickbay via the jeffries tubes..." Kurt heard over top of the activity. “Shall we!” The doctor nodded to him. "I guess so." Kurt shrugged. He filed in behind lieutenant smith and the doctor, closing the hatch behind them. They made their way a few meters down. "I guess that drink will have to wait now lieutenant!" He chuckled (Reply, smith... Williams, any) ((Post by Cody)) (USS Spectre – Sickbay – CSO/2O Lt.jg. Kurt Palmer – 14:55) Upon their arrival to sickbay Dr. Williams was greeted by the nurse that always seemed to be on duty. The science chief remained with Lt. Smith by the wedged open entrance. He glanced over at her and raised an eyebrow, as if to say we have another long night ahead of us. Kurt was looking for a more exciting career when he joined Starfleet, but he wondered if any starship ever actually had a routine mission that went routinely. When Williams and the nurse finished, he looked back to Kurt. “Why don’t we go to my office?” The science chief nodded and followed the doctor. Kurt glanced around. He missed being in sickbay, and this was an even nicer one than he had on the Mithrandir. A moment later, they found themselves on opposing sides of Dr. Williams desk. (Reply, any) ((Post by Cody)) (USS Spectre – Sickbay - CMO's Office – CSO/2O Lt.jg. Kurt Palmer – 15:00) Dr Williams slid a PADD across to the science chief. “Here is everything that I have on the parasites." He searched for a moment "Its unfortunate not very much and a lot is conjecture and supposition.” Kurt skimmed over the contents briefly before looking up. "Well let's start with what you know, and we can see if I can't fill in a few gaps." "From what I can work out the main person that is responsible for the parasites is a Cardassina woman called Sulia Madon." The doctor continued with a brief synopsis. Then added “Not all that helpful really. Anything you know that could shed some more light on this? The information about the parasite is even vaguer.” The science chief cleared his throat clicked the PADD off and placed it back on the desk. He looked behind him. It seemed the door to the doctor's office was the only hinged door on this high tech vessel. He leaned back in his chair to close the door. "Well, I can't shed much light on Sulia Madon, but I did have a precious encounter with this particular neural parasite." He paused to carefully collect his words "If it comes up again, this information did not come from me. In a previous career I dealt with another infiltration of the federation by this same parasite which was never recorded." (Reply, Williams IYW) "They are called bluegills, and come from the delta quadrant. They attach themselves at the base of the brain stem, and become next to impossible to remove. They start by establishing a small collective in these situations; a person of high significance becomes host to a 'mother' who will then attempt to infect others. Each parasite maintains some sort of link with the mother and in turn the mother is able to transmit communications back to the delta quadrant. The details as to how are still a mystery." He took a breath "The parasite will take complete control of its host, absorbing most of their memories. We discovered the only sure way of removing the parasite from the host is by death of the host." (Reply, Williams) ((Post by Cody)) (USS Spectre – Sickbay - CMO's Office – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams – 15:03) "If it comes up again, this information did not come from me. "The parasite will take complete control of its host, absorbing most of their memories. We discovered the only sure way of removing the parasite from the host is by death of the host." Andrew nodded. “Well that would be an important thing to try and change.” He paused for a moment. “The information is rather sketchy about the removal techniques could you possible shed some light. I would guess that surgical removal was the main way of doing it but there are a lot of chemicals or stimulates that can be used.” (Reply Palmer) (Reply Palmer, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Sickbay - CMO's Office – CSO/2O Lt.jg. "The only couple of cases dealt with removal within the first 36 hours. So, I can't speak to all cases here... Removal was most successful in cases of simulated death." He shifted in his seat "basically the parasite has to disconnect on its own. I have no successes to report of removal after that 36 hour period." Andrew nodded as he took this information and added to what he already knew. “What do you think we should do with the Admiral when we get him?” “I guess we could put him in isolation and try to figure out how to get it out of him as well as how he was infected in the first place.” (Reply Palmer) (Reply Palmer, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Sickbay - CMO's Office – CSO/2O Lt.jg. The science chief sat back and ran his hand through his hair "Though I can see if I can come up with some sort of containment field.... Provided we can regain access to the computers." (Reply, Williams) "Ever wish we could just have a mission go according to plan?" Kurt chuckled. Andrew grinned. “I think you’re in the wrong department my friend. A mission going according to plan. The only ones that do that are the mission from headquarters and that’s only in their minds.” He paused for a moment and gave a tired sigh. “Ow yes it would be great to have a mission too exactly to plan but then where would the fun be?” (Reply Palmer) “I guess that if we don’t get this parasite we will be all living in happy mind altered bliss?” (Reply Palmer, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Sickbay - CMOs Office – CSO/2O Lt.jg. Kurt replied plainly “I guess that if we don’t get this parasite we will be all living in happy mind altered bliss?” Kurt cracked a smile at this grim joke. Then a rare moment of genius rushed over the science chief. "We keep a small library independent of the computer core in one of the Labs." He popped up to his feet. "If I can get in, I might be able to come up with... Something..." (Reply, Williams) "And...." As Kurt started the deck rumbled and office went dark. There was a brief moment before the doctor's voice came from the other side of the room. “Looks like they found a way to get by the Admirals lock out.” "Or something..." ~I would like to have a word with the person who ties the lighting into major systems on these ships.~ A small light came from the other side of Dr. Williams office “Well this is fun. What do you want to do?” "Well usually I would say we should start telling scary stories, but it seems we are in one at the moment. So perhaps I'll see about getting up to deck 4?" It was as if I was there again. Stuck in a center of madness, watching the various hallucinations of the crew, not knowing where out was, until you grounded me. I woke Ella up with my nightmares, and she suggested that I come to you.” Riven held her close as she snuggled in against him, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. ::Riven, are you… would it harm you to aid me? I want to go into the soul bonding with a whole soul, but…:: She frowned, ::I don’t feel whole. And I don’t think that you are either, my love. Perhaps we can go outside and sit under the moon and maybe we can heal each other?: She knew some of it, there was no way he could hide it all from her and tell the truth he didn't want to try. Tomorrow they would be completely bonded and he didn't like keeping secrets anyway. ::Yes I can help my love..:: Was this what he wanted, to go back and fight through the memories that the void had left indelibly, like an inkblot stain on his soul? Not really, no not ever did he want to do that but he had no choice. Someday he would have to face his limitations, his mortality in effect that the Void had exposed. ::It may as well be now, come with me." He pushed himself up from the bed reluctantly, wanting to continue in her embrace but here was not the place. A clean robe was thrown about him and he handed her one as well, the nights still had a slight nip to them. "Out in the garden as you suggested. I want to look at a clean sky and crisp moon." (Reply: Michaella) His mood was dark as he led her by the hand to the round portico outside the bungalow which had a number of shrubs, trees and flowers planted around and within its periphery. It wasn't something he wanted to do but he had to do it, he had to free himself of its grip on his soul. He sat down upon the padded bench and drew her down beside him and turned dark eyes in her direction, the clear sky and crescent moon forgotten for the moment. "Don't worry for me my love, I have the strength to do this, it's just..." His voice trailed off and he was silent for a moment as he looked away, when he turned back toward her he looked tired and unsure. "It's just that I'm afraid." "Captain Bell, is everything alright?", asked Captain Alexander. It was odd to her that another Captain was on her Bridge but Jana was helping out a fellow CO and hopefully, someone would do the same for her. "New orders Captain... Admiral Jopek wants us to keep an eye on the Spectre. Whatever Sevant is up to, it's clear the Spectre is now on a heading directly to the STRAPOPS base at Starbase 863.", she said not looking away from the viewscreen. "Tactical, on screen.", she ordered and the map appeared. "Initially, their heading was directly to the Starbase 39-Sierra but now they heading over here.", she said and the map moved to their new destination. "We're going to lose sensor contact soon but we'll be close by, just in case they need our help." The viewscreen switched back to the stars that were warping by. "That base, Starbase 863 is one of the most heavily fortified positions in the Federation, not many people know what is even there or what they have under their belts. If I wanted to send a suspect ship to a location that was the safest place in the quadrant, that is where I would go.", she said finishing up what she wanted to say. "Sensor contact lost, Captain.", reported the officer at OPS. "Understood.", said Jana. (Reply from Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre - Bridge - ACEO, Ensign Jake Haltom – 14:52) This had to be the most screwed up mission in Jake's career. From the time they had set out from the starbase it had been like a boulder rumbling downhill. The inertial dampeners issue had been a nuisance but now a freaking admiral had seemed to go insane. From what little could be pieced together from what he had heard going on around the bridge it seemed that the stoic Vulcan had been taken over by those parasitic critters they had heard about in the briefing, no wonder then that he had fallen off the deep end when they had come to fetch him for his examination. At the moment he was trying to bypass the lockout the rogue Star Fleet big had placed on the engineering controls. He felt more then heard the first officer kneel down next to him. "Any successes, Ensign, can we get around the Admiral's transfer of command?" Jake looked up at him with worry in his eyes. "The lockout command as you know has completely shut down my ability to access the computer controls directly however..." He glanced back down at the pile of chips he had been compiling. "I'm going to try and establish a direct link to the control subsystems using a binary input." He looked up and thought he saw hope on the Bajoran's face ... or was it concern. "I'd prefer not to tempt fate and explode the ship but I will if we have no other options and as time goes on." The chief didn't sound at all convinced. "Commander there is no guarantee this will work or how long it might take to establish control from this console." His eyes brightened a bit and a rakish grin quirked at the corners of his mouth as he took several chips from one pile and prepared to dive back into the console. "And I need to brush up on my binary but I think I can make it happen, without blowing the ships to hell and back." (Reply: Ktell) Jake shook his head slightly and shrugged as he positioned himself on his back and began placing chips in unaccustomed spots beneath the console while suppressing a chuckle. "Wish me luck commander." (Reply: Ktell) (Posted by Charles) (USS Spectre - Bridge - ACEO, Ensign Jake Haltom – 14:55) The problem with plans made up on the fly so to speak is that when you think of them they often seem SO reasonable but when exposed to longer consideration they tend to fall apart under the glare of scrutiny. Not only that but as he rubbed a couple of isolinear chips carefully together to avoid damaging them the sheer complexity of the task was becoming clear as well as the loopholes big enough to fly a shuttlecraft through. . The greatest actions are often the simplest just as the shortest distance between two points is a straight line, that is of course unless a warp field is involved. ~Warp field, that's it!~ Just because helm had no direct control of the warp field didn't mean they couldn't slow the ship down. That would be open to scrutiny from the admiral however, he would need something important enough to divert his attention. As the answer popped into his mind he slid back out from under the console. What he had in mind was sleight of hand which would make a magician proud. "Lieutenant I need to speak with you," he barked urgently. The plan had its own inherent danger so he would need to run it by the chief before he initiated it. (Reply: Ktell) "The binary input plan is unworkable chief but I have a better idea, I can put an increasing drain on the primary warp controllers which will drop us out of warp over the period of six to eight seconds and no more than ten. It will be a controlled deceleration." (Reply: (Ktell) "If the admiral sees it he can reroute power of course but I think I can keep his attention diverted. I can first set up a drain on the anti-matter containment field, once the power level reaches twenty five percent it will send out a high level danger alert but the field is in no danger of destabilizing until it drops below fifteen percent. I can hold it in the twenty to twenty five percent range by varying the power drain. While Sevant is trying to deal with containment I will begin draining the warp controllers. There is a small chance of danger in this but I give you my word I can make it work." (Reply: Ktell) "As for that I am going to need help." Jake shrugged. "I can't directly access the computer core power subsystem from here, Ops will have to do that. As soon as we are out of warp they can cut power to it forcing a reboot. If we have a man or can send a man to the computer core they can take control of the computer directly from the core terminals. One other thing," Jake held up his right hand for emphasis. "I would recommend not relying on that completely, if some way can be found to erase or block Sevant's command codes during the reboot that would be ideal." (Reply: Ktell) (Posted by Charles) (USS Spectre – Sickbay – CMO’s Office – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams – 14:59) Andrew sat down behind his deck and opened and small access panel under the desk. He pulled out a PADD which he entered a long command sequence before it blinked into life. He glanced at it for a moment before sliding in over to Kurt. “Here is everything that I have on the parasites.” He paused for a moment before carrying on. “Its unfortunate not very much and a lot is conjecture and supposition.” (Reply Palmer) “From what I can work out the main person that is responsible for the parasites is a Cardassina woman called Sulia Madon. There is not a lot about her either apart from that fact. She was kidnapped by Bajoran militants who killed her parents. They took her to Bajor but managed to escape years later back to Cardassia where she became a Detapa Council Member. She then disappeared and is currently unknown but it is speculated that she was infected with the parasite then.” He sighed and looked over Kurt. “Not all that helpful really. Anything you know that could shed some more light on this? The information about the parasite is even vaguer.” (Reply Palmer) (Reply Palmer, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Bridge - FO/CEO, Lt Remae Ktell – 15:00) "Captain Remae, we're about two hours out from Starbase 863.", reported Jennifer at the CONN station. She had been doing some hard calculations, all without the help of the main computer. Everyone was relying on secondary technologies, tricorders and PADDs. "Very well.", said the Captain and then Ensign Alexander reported, "I am ready to present my plan as an option whenever you have a moment." The Ensign's plan to reset the Spectre in a limited mode seemed risky to Remae. He had to think about this for a moment. Sevant was taking the Spectre to a place he considered safe, because he thought the senior crew was infected with the parasite. Which they were, if the scans from the gang of Smiths was accurate. Remae felt normal, not under control but then, who knows anything about their own minds? No, he was who he thought he was. Whatever the Admiral's motives, it was faulty logic... there was more going on here and Remae was going to have to act seeing they had no successes with the computer. "30 minutes, Mr Alexander. That is how long I am going to give us... if we don't regain control before then, we'll shutdown the ship and hope the programmers of the Spectre knew what they were doing.", he ordered. (Reply from Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Serenity – Bridge - CO, Commander Jay – 15:02) Jay looked out of the view screen beyond the command console. The stars were steaming past as they powered through at warp speed. Somewhere out in front was the Spectre and a chase ship. The Serenity was not being stealthy or sneaky she was charging through the warp with all her sensors pushed out as far as they could go and her engine signature was as bright as a super nova. She dared not to think about the stresses she was putting on the ship and was glad that she had recently been released from the space dock after a routine maintenance overhaul. For a moment she was worried that the Spectre would get her on their sensors but the way she was charging off she doubted it. The only one who might spot them was the chase ship which she suspected with between them and the Spectre but she would deal with that situation if or when it arose. She gave a soft sigh as she glanced down at the consoles read out. They were going to lose the Spectre quicker then she had reckoned on as she continued to accelerate, although they had caught her course change which they had duly matched it. From their new heading they were going towards Starbase 863. All she knew it was that it was something to do with STRAPOPS and when Audrey had mentioned it was the new destination of the Spectre she had gotten the feeling that it was not a place to go wandering around in. Being part of the of the Hazardous Support Flotilla gave them some authority to get into places and also having the orders from Admiral Jopek would help when they got to Starbase 863 but from the rumours and the whispered gossip she had heard it was a shoot first, shoot second and may be if there was anything left ask questions last type of place. She would have to be careful how she approached the star base. Getting to the Spectre and stopping the infection was a high priority but not above the safety of her crew. She looked over at Grayjoy who had his game face on and glanced around the rest of the bridge crew who were deep in concentration of their various tasks. No one was happy that a federation ship was suspected of being a plague ship but as Captain Akess had said when she was assigned to the Hazardous Support Flotilla that this job was horrible and dangerous but would save the lives of billions. It grated against her medical training as a doctor to save lives but she knew that the 180 odd crew on the Spectre were expendable even Andrew's if it stopped the spread of the infection to a Starbase and then to the whole system. She pushed the thought from her mind a lot of things had to happen before that scenario was played out. We'll have the strike team make a play for the shuttle at 15:25 hours to start the mayhem. The engineering team and I should hopefully already be in position when that starts. The EMP should go of at about 15:30." (reply Remae) "Obviously I can't do anything until the computer shuts down. If the EMP doesn't go off I'll assume either we failed or regained control of the ship. Well I'll know that if we get comms back up before an EMP. Anyways sir, I am ready to go now. Just say the word." (reply Remae) Will nodded and went to Ensign Haltom who was busy fiddling underneath the engineering panel. "Ensign Haltom" Will said, "I need you to pull off the impossible." (reply Haltom) "I need you to be team two and set off an EMP. It should be possible to jerry rig the phase cloak to emit an electro magentic pulse, given the right tinkering. I need you to follow the jeffrey tubes down to deck 14 and set off the EMP at 1530 hours. Is that something you think you can do?" (reply Haltom) "Crewman Shayne Cody is a power systems engineer, if you can find him, he may be able to help pull this off." (reply Haltom) "Thank you. If we are able to regain control before then, please don't set off the EMP." (Reply Haltom) Will then nodded and went towards the marine Kenneth Smith who was still on the bridge. "Marine Lieutenant Smith." Will said as he approached him. "You seem to enjoy barging into places in tactical gear. I have a job for you." (Reply K Smith) "I need you to take a team, maybe Ensigns Kedar Dallin and Wang Yan Xu with you. The best bet would be for your team to try and 'hijack' one of the shuttle crafts from deck 5's shuttle bay. This would hopefully place attention on your team, allowing two smaller teams to go unnoticed. I need you to get prepped but don't make a move on the shuttle bay until 15.25 Hours. That work?" (reply K Smith) "Perfect." Will then went over to Remae. "Sir, I'm ready to go. I'm headed to get into position." (Reply Remae) "See you on the other side." Kenneth nodded as tactical options formed in his mind. “Can do.” "Perfect." As Alexander turned away Kenneth looked over at Ensigns Kedar Dallin and Wang Yan Xu. “Okay Ensigns open the weapons locker and get yourself tooled up we need to be mobile but able to put down a lot of fire if needed.” (Reply Dallin, Yan Xu) As they went to arm them selves he looked over at Scott. Kenneth could have chosen Robert as he was fare superior with electrical but Scott had a way with mechanical devices and they were going to be going in loud and explosive. “Scott ready to set up a diversion.” Scott looked up, smiled and nodded as he readied his phaser rifle. Kenneth smiled to himself as the others came back. He moved over to a quiet corner of the bridge. “Okay we have been tasked with the diversion. We are going to shuttle bay 1 on deck 5 and try to steal a shuttle. This should give the other teams the opportunity to complete their parts of the plan. So give me your suggestions about how we should do it and remember that we don’t actually need to get a shuttle of the deck just make it look like are?” He activated a small screen on his suit which showed the layout of deck 5 and shuttle bay 1. He was laying on his back and inserting the isolinear chips in an order to try and establish control of the ship. The FO was working on two fronts, the EMP from Ensign Alexander and the chance to gain control and bypass the Admiral's lockouts. Admiral Sevant was smart and Remae wasn't convinced he could be outsmarted easily. Alexander was given to 15.30 to initiate his plan, that time was nearly upon them. He came over and had a request of the Ensign. "...I need you to follow the jeffrey tubes down to deck 14 and set off the EMP at 1530 hours. Is that something you think you can do?", he asked and Remae was wondering how the Ensign would feel about being interrupted in his work with the chips. "Mr Alexander, I don't want to Ensign to stop his work with his isolinear chips, there is a chance we can regain control of the ship without setting off the EMP. I'll send another officer down to Deck 14.", said the FO and he pointed at another Engineer to go and do that. "Thank you. If we are able to regain control before then, please don't set off the EMP.", he said and turn to Remae, "Sir, I'm ready to go. I'm headed to get into position." Communications would be out and it would be up to everyone out of contact to make a judgement call on what to do. "Off you go. Ensign - be careful.", said Remae as he watched the OPS disappear. (Reply from Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre - Bridge - FO/CEO, Lt Remae Ktell – 15:15) Some crazy ideas were flying around but some of them had paid off. Communicators were now working within a very short range. Remae could talk to people around a small bubble of the Bridge. Each commbadge had been configured to act as relay and a booster, a chain of people were queued up between some of the closeby major departments. As more people spread out, the range was increasing and as more people were contacted, more were coming to help. Each new group were told about the upcoming plan to reboot the Spectre, at least, some of them would be prepared. Remae was in his chair, trying to keep up with the manual reports as they came in and he was jotting it all down on a PADD. A clear picture was emerging and that was everyone was normal but still, he couldn't contact Fairfield but the security teams were edging that way. He was only on Deck Two but the Spectre was showing everyone how big she was without turobolifts or doors that had to be forced open, one at a time. (Reply from ALL) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre - Bridge - FO/CEO, Lt Remae Ktell - 15:17) The Ensign held up his hand, the plan was interesting and it good but Remae continued to listen. "I would recommend not relying on that completely, if some way can be found to erase or block Sevant's command codes during the reboot that would be ideal.", he said concluding. "Very well Ensign.", he said and he got to work. He sent down the relevant people to the core and around the ship and together, they prepared to implement their plan. (Reply from Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre - Jeffries Tubes, Deck 8 -OPS Ensign Will Alexander – 15:20) Will had made his way down the Jeffries tube. He was close to deck 10 and to the access point for the Secondary computer core that he needed to take. He was progressing through pretty easily, given that he was slightly claustrophobic. When you get stuck in your fair share of turbolifts as a child, well, cramped spaces begin to bug you. But the more he learned about how they worked, the less he feared. When you can fix something, you no longer fear it. Still going through a jeffrey tube made him a bit queasy, but not enough to stop him from doing a job. He was less afraid of being stuck in jeffrey tube than he was of getting stuck in the harness of a roller coaster. Crawling through the jeffries tubes was work, and he was still afraid of getting stuck in the jeffrey tube, but he was making good time. Having a more athletic body was definitely helping. He had a job to do. One he was hoping that was unneeded. Still, sometimes risks were needed. One rogue admiral had taken over his ship, he wanted to make sure they got it back before anyone got hurt. Of course the irony wasn't lost on him that there was a slight chance, if his plan didn't work, he might have doomed them all. (reply none) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre - Outside shuttle bay 1 – First Lieutenant – Kenneth ‘SatNav’ Smith – 15:23) Kenneth paused by the junction. He glanced around the corner and saw the door to the shuttle bay was closed. He was not surprised by this as if there was a decompression in the shuttle bay having the main access into the rest of the ship wide open was stupid. This meant that they would have to force the doors which would take a bit longer as the manual release and then forcing the doors would take up presses time. ~We are the diversion so it’s not a problem~ He glanced at the chronometer on his it was early time. He knew that Scott would also be in position and waiting for the count down. He looked over at Ensign Dallin. “You ready Ensign.” (Reply Dallin) Kenneth nodded. “Okay then let’s get this shuttle.” He stepped around the corner and was by the manual activation hatch within a few strides. He yanked off the panel and forcibly pulled the manual release handle. He heard the door locks cluck open. He stepped over to the concealed grip handle and pulled. The big door slid open just enough for them to slip inside. “You go right. I’ll be right behind you.” (Reply Dallin) (Reply Dallin, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Deck 5, Jefferies Tube - Engineering Officer, Ensign (JG)–Scott Smith – 15:24) It had been decided that their route in to the shuttle bay would be different from Kenneth and Dallin just in case it was a trap. So he and Yan Xu, had gone for the vertical approach. This meant that they were in the Jeffries tube looking through a ventilation hatch into the shuttle bay. They had spotted the target shuttle which was on the deck space as the emergency use shuttle. He looked over at Yan Xu which was beside him in the confined space of the Jeffries tube and grinned. “Okay let’s do this.” (Reply Yan Xu) With that he kicked in the ventilation hatch and leaped through into the shuttle bay with his rifle at the ready. (Reply Yan Xu, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Bridge - FO/CEO, Lt Remae Ktell - 15:27) Remae was now pacing around the part of the Bridge where Haltom was working, the EMP was about to go off and with it, the Spectre's systems would go offline. There would be no power to anything for about 10 seconds. They had reached warp 9.8 and the Spectre was still accelerating. If the warp field collapsed at that speed, it was going to be one bumpy ride for all and it would take all the work of the CONN to make sure the Spectre didn't fall apart as it dropped dead into normal space. The FO had done all he could; Security was posted around the Admiral's last know location, the teams were in place and the imminent EMP was resting on the shoulders of one ACEO. "30 seconds Mr Haltom. Make your call.", said Remae who was now out of time. (Reply from Haltom, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre - Deck 10, Secondary Computer Core - OPS Ensign Will Alexander – 15:28) It was now coming closer to showtime. Either the engineering crew were going to find a safer way to restore the ships control to the Spectre crew or an EMP blast was mere minutes of going off, which all though it was Will's plan, was admittedly a lot messier and more dangerous. Still nobody is perfect, and who doesn't love a little risk. At least that was Will's thinking. It was like he was in an old action movie holovid just waiting for something to go boom. Preferably not the Spectre. It was getting closer and he was getting anxious. every second felt like an hour. Then it happened, the ship started slowing down. Slowly but surely the ship was dropping out of warp. Not with a sudden stop like the EMP would have caused, but a gradual one as if power was being cut or restored. ~I think they did it, I think they found a way to get us some control back. Good, good. But what about computer control. Do we have it?~ The ship eventually came to a halt, no EMP would come, which was good. But since he was out of pocket with limited communication, he wasn't sure of the plan. However, then the darkness came, they had found a way to cut power from the bridge without EMP. The first part of his plan was off, the second part, the reboot and reconfiguring was going to happen. It was showtime. Will could not fail. (reply None) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre - Bridge - FO/CEO, Lt Remae Ktell - 15:29) "30 seconds Mr Haltom. Make your call.", said Remae who was now out of time. The Operations Officer nodded their way and it was time. "Now!", said Remae and the ship began to slow down, if the Admiral or anyone else weren't aware of their plans, they were now. (Reply from Haltom, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre – Bridge, CONN - Second Lieutenant, Jennifer Smith - 15:29) Jennifer sat at her console in silent frustration. There was nothing she could do but wait. Her console was locked out and no matter what combination of commands she imputed the result was always the same. "30 seconds Mr Haltom. Make your call." She heard Ktell call from the bridge. ~Okay let’s get started~ She paused as the last few seconds counted down. ~Let’s do this~ "Now!” She felt the ship shudder gently as the lights flashed. She saw the engines fluctuate and then die. She gripped the console a little bit harder. ~Now were are just along for the ride~ As she sat there with the Spectre dropping out of warp. (Reply any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Bridge - FO/CEO, Lt Remae Ktell - 15:31) The ship was out of warp, it had taken 5 seconds, it was so delicate but it was and now came for the hard part. The Spectre rebooted. The lights went out, the sound went dead and it was pitch black... noone was breathing. Remae hadn't even asked the question, how long would it take to shutdown the ship and restart it... it would take time. The computer core wasn't equipped with an on/off switch and they still had to reinstate the original systems, basically, the Spectre was going to be like new. ~ I hope the crew had backups of their favourite replicator dishes ~ (Reply from All) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre - Deck 10, Secondary Computer Core - OPS Ensign Will Alexander – 15:31) Will knew he needed to work fast. The Spectre could not remain dead in space for long. They were very vulnerable at the moment, and he wanted to make sure that they were able to defend themselves as soon as they could. Still, this wasn't something he could do haphazardly. He needed to work fast and efficient. ~Alright then, let's do this.~ With a few quick and diligent strokes of the console keys the Spectre entered a form of Safe Mode boot up. Minimal power and lighting would appear throughout the ships, and replicator functions were working, as well as whatever power was needed to keep the ship from blowing itself up. However weapons, transporters, shipboard communications, impulse and propulsion systems were all down. The Spectre was vulnerable and so was Will. He was afraid that the Admiral or someone working for him might come through the doors to the secondary computer core at any time. Still he couldn't let the fear stop him from working. Turbolifts were down, but the doors to the rooms still worked. Once he accessed Safe Mode he needed to find the command directions that were given by the Admiral that locked the Spectre crew out of the system and override it. Once he located the command and implemented the override, when the Spectre was booted back up in normal mode, it would be the Spectre crew that would have control. ~Alrigh Scooby Doo, where are you?~ Will thought to himself with a chuckle referencing the old 20th century popular cartoon about a dog and a van and some kids that solved mysteries, or something like that. ~There you are~ Locating the Spectre crew Lockout in a list of Command Staff order directives, he moved quickly to remove any sort of restriction on the Spectre crew from having control of the ship. The order was lifted and terminated. Once the ship regained normal functions, She would be under Spectre control. But will wasn't finished. There was more he needed to do, if we wanted to prevent the Admiral from doing this all over again. So he decided to cheat a little, and while he was in here. He created a new Command directive. Admiral Sevant would be locked out of the system. He would no be able to override anything. As far as the Spectre computer knew the Sevant onboard the Spectre was an imposter and the real one was aboard Starbase Geneva. His orders would not be followed by the computer unless he could verify he was actually the Real Admiral. And even though he was in fact the real Admiral and Biometrics would prove that, Will placed a directive in the created order that he would need to input a passcode to prove his identity. And rather then thinking one up, will just smashed his hand on the keypad and whatever random assortment came up, that was the password. Then the final fail safe. Once they removed the parasite from Sevant if he was infected, or if he wasn't talked reason into him, all the FO or CO had to do was say, computer remove Directive Alpha Bravo Charlie Omega 3 Banana and the Spectre would no longer think the Admiral was an imposter. Will gave everything a look over again to make sure there weren't any nasty surprised and then began the restart. Hopefully when all was said and done, the Spectre would be back to normal. (reply none) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre – Sickbay - CMO's Office – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams – 15:32) Andrew had stuck his head out of the office to see if Douwsy was okay when the lights had gone out. ~Ow this is just great~ He felt a slight shudder go through his feet as the Spectre slowed down. He looked over at where he thought Kurt was in the dark. “Looks like they found a way to get by the Admirals lock out.” (Reply Palmer) He stepped back to his deck and felt for a small draw which he pulled out a small palm light. He flicked it on and its small light penetrated the darkness. “Well this is fun. What do you want to do?” (Reply Palmer) (Reply Palmer, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Wraith - Bridge - CO, Captain Jana Bell - 15:35) The Wraith had lost the pursuit but that didn't mean Jana was going to let the Spectre get out of her sights, even if it took months to catch up. "The Spectre just dropped out of warp.", said the OPS and they had lost her. There were no signals or power signatures or anything else coming from the Spectre but they guessed she was was dead ahead and they were gaining fast, in fact, in a few moments, they would rocket past them at high warp. "Take us out of warp and bring us close.", she ordered and the Wraith eased herself into normal space but still cloaked, Jana was taking no chances. "Captain Alexander, what do you make of this?", she asked, looking at the viewscreen, the Spectre was just visible, a dead ship in the dark with no sign of life or power. (Reply from Alexander, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Serenity – Bridge - CO, Cmdr Jay – 15:36) =^=Skipper the Spectre had dropped out of warp=^= Jay spun around from her console and looked at Audery seated form. “What do you mean?” It was just at the edge of my sensors. There was a strange flash and then she just went dark. The only thing that I can think of was a massive power failure.” Jay paused for a split seconded before she began to issue orders. “Okay. Audery get us there now.” =^=Yes skipper but Hamish will not be happy=^= Jay nodded. “I will already need to apologise to him about how I am treating his engines.” She paused again. “Okay disengage the safeties we need to get there and know what is happening.” =^=Yes Skipper=^= She saw Grayjoy glance at her but she ignored it. “Red alert. Set quarantine condition one throughout the ship.” The klaxon howled through the ship as the crew rushed to the duty stations. Grayjoy worked busily at his console before looking up at her and speaking to her. “Skipper the ship is at condition one. Sickbay is manned and isolated from the rest of the ship and Senior Chief Snow’s teams are ready at the docking collars. Engineering requests that we slow down a little.” Jay nodded. “I know. Once we get there we can.” Grayjoy nodded before going back to his console. Jay moved over to where Perr’Mess was stationed. “When we drop out of warp I want you to launch your kittens and set up a perimeter nothing gets in or out without my permission.” “Yes Captain. We won’t let you down.” She nodded and gave her a quick smile as she moved to tactical. “Sargent Major how are your girls and boys?” The steady and unflappable Pacifican gave her a nod. “We are ready Skipper just give me the word.” “Good Sargent Major. We will keep the shuttles of ready launch. I hope not to have to board by force but if it happens we will give you and your team as much cover as I can.” “Yes Captain. Don’t worry about us. You get us there we will get it done.” With that Jay returned to her console and watched as the timer spooled down to when they would drop out of warp and get to see the Spectre with her own eyes. The Serenity dropped out of warp as fast as her stressed out engines could manage. Scanning the system intensely she only found the drifting and darkened Spectre. The six small Unmanned Multimode Tactical Support Craft launched from this shuttle bay and but remained in a defensive position around Serenity. Jay stood there looking at the slowly spinning ship before she opened and comm channel. “USS Spectre, USS Spectre this is the USS Serenity. You have been designated a plague ship by Fleet Command. Prepare for quarantine inspection, please respond.” (Reply Spectre, Wraith any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Deck 10, Secondary Computer Core - OPS Ensign Will Alexander – 15:40) As quickly as the lights had gone out, they soon came back with full force. Everything appeared to be back to normal. The Spectre appeared to be back to normal. Now it came time for the testing. "Computer, who am I and what is my location?" =/\= You are ensign William Frost Alexander. You are on Deck 10, in the Secondary Computer core.=/\= ~Looks like things are working~ "Computer, where is Admiral Sevant?" =/\=Admiral Sevant is currently not on board.=/\= "Where is he? =/\=Computer records indicate he is on Starbase Geneva=/\= ~Good, of course ours is currently the only ship in the fleet that thinks he is on Geneva but oh well.~ "Is there anyone claiming to be Admiral Sevant on board?" =/\=Sensors show there is one who has logged in on consoles and voice recognition as Admiral Sevant. Computer records indicate this is not the actual admiral.=/\= "Thank you computer" Will made sure all the panels were closed and that there was nothing to indicate that he had been in the room. "Alexander to Lieutenant Remae, are you there? (reply Remae) "Sir, you should have control of the Ship again, I've also locked the Admiral out of our systems. The Computer presently thinks the Admiral onboard is an imposter." (reply Remae) "Sir I am going to head to the StratOPS center and make sure there is no way he can try and take control from there, and make sure there aren't any un-friendly ships in the area. Alexander out." (reply Remae) And with that, will left the Computer core, and headed for his next desitnation. (reply Remae) (posted by WB) (USS Spectre - Strategic Operations Center - OPS Ensign Will Alexander – 15:55) With the ship back in Friendly hands, it was a much more comfortable journey to the StratOPS center as Will didn't have to take the Turbolifts. Still he was cautious. He was in the Admiral's territory now, and he needed to make sure he didn't get caught. If he did get caught he had a phaser with him, but he was sure the Admiral was smarter than him and even with the failsafe Will placed in the system, he was sure the Admiral would find a way to regain control. That is why Will wanted to secure the StratOPS center, he if had control of that room, it limited what the Admiral could do. As he entered the center he was cautious yet amazed. It was his first time entering the StratOPS center and he couldn't help but get nostalgic. He had been thinking about asking Captain Remae about installing a StratOPS center back before the episode with the Phantom, but he never got a chance. Then it turns out that the real him was the one who installed and designed it. While he was happy to see it, it was just another reminder of the life he missed, the life that wasn't really his. Will quickly darted towards the console to make sure the Admiral was locked out of the system, though he couldn't help but feel like he was being watched.
