This is my team", said Kerge, motioning now to the rest of the Spectre crew, "we have one other team aboard the station right now and we are responding to intelligence obtained which tells us that this station is now compromised by an outside parasitic influence, which by your own admission, your own databases are confirming." "That is true, there is something odd going on. I'm trying to get updates from the ETH information hub, but my records can't update. But I am receiving information on an invading organism. Your story checks out. No hostile action needed at this time." "You may work with us, or against us. Rest assured though that we, and that includes the Ferengi child, are not your enemy here", said the Klingon. "I understand, I wont try and take you in, not at the moment anyways. There does seem to be records of hostile Ferengi all over the station. Some of the other units are reporting fire fights, having taken them out. Soldiers, not merchants, seem to be mixed in." "So, given that you are currently the foremost authority here, what would you suggest we do next?", asked Kerge, bowing now to that tactical advantage... "If I were you, I'd proceed to OPS. you can take control of station security there. Give you a better view of the station. Information indicates that the majority of Starfleet personnel are incapacitated. There are a contingent on the lower levels of the station, still ambulatory. Strong shielding there. Classified information. Can't get access to it. I would steer clear of there." (Reply Kerge) "If you have nothing else, I am going to leave and patrol another part of the station now. I am getting reports of one of the other units engaging hostile Ferengi on Deck 18 " With that the Hologram disappeared. Leaving the away team to their own devices. (reply Kerge) (posted by Will Banowsky) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Deck 17 – TAC/SC, Lt Kerge - 14:30) "...There are a contingent on the lower levels of the station, still ambulatory. Strong shielding there. Classified information. Can't get access to it. I would steer clear of there." said the ETH. Kerge pondered that. Classified information sounded just the sort of thing that might be of use to him right now, but going down was not really an option at this moment in time as their objective was already Ops. According to the station plans, Ops was on Deck 4, but the turbolifts at best were unreliable, and 39-Sierra was a big station. Needless to say the 'Classified' stuff would have to wait until they could secure the station proper, then perhaps.... The ETH spoke again, seemingly in a hurry now to get on with its work. "If you have nothing else, I am going to leave and patrol another part of the station now. I am getting reports of one of the other units engaging hostile Ferengi on Deck 18" Kerge nodded, but then drew the ETH's attention once more. "How many in total are the Ferengi on this station?", he asked. (Reply ETH) Kerge nodded again, thinking that the odds were against them, but then those were the kind of odds that he thrived in. "Keep us updated if you are able to", he added, as the ETH finally shimmered out and then disappeared leaving Kerge and his party to proceed... "Right, or at all." Kurt said forcing a smile. The doctors attention shifted towards the door. “How secure do you think we are?” "I mean, the door won't be forced open easily." He paused "but, the right few command codes and that's that." “I just don’t want to have to move him in a hurry.” The doctor got to the point "And I don't want to test my phaser rifle certification." The doctor glanced to the Ferengi. "You think we could ask him a few questions?" Kurt nodded towards their patient. (Reply, Williams, any) ((Post by Cody)) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Deck 14, Corridor B - CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams – 15:13) "You think we could ask him a few questions?" He looked from Palmer to the Farengi. “We could try but he is a bit out of it from the drugs.” He turned to the Farengi and leaned close to him. “Can you hear me?” He saw the Farengi’s eyes flicker open for a moment. “Hmmmm where am I hoomon?” Andrew smiled. “We are on starbase 39 Sierra. You have just had surgery. You were shot. Can you remember who it was?” He watched as the Farengi’s eye moving in and out of focus. “My head feels strange and fuzzy?” He nodded. “That is the anaesthetic don’t worry.” He looked over at Williams. “You look pretty for a hoomon.” Andrew smiled. “Thank you. Just and take your time.” He sighed as he moved over Palmer. “We are not going to get anything out of him for a while.” (Reply Palmer) (Reply, Palmer, any) (Posted by Robbie) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Deck 14 - Crew Mess - CSO, LT.jg Kurt Palmer – 15:15) The Ferengi’s eye moved in and out of focus as Dr. Williams tried to get a few questions in. “My head feels strange and fuzzy?” The Ferengi replied. The doctor tried to put him at ease-“That is the anaesthetic don’t worry." “You look pretty for a hoomon.” Came the next few words from the alien. Kurt's eyes widened as the Dr. Williams moved closer. “We are not going to get anything out of him for a while.” "No information, but you may have a date within the hour." Kurt grinned. ~ that's probably not funny.~ (Reply, Williams) Then- Kurt's head snapped quickly towards the door a metallic thus came from the corridor. ~no no no~ The science Chief flipped open his tricorder. (Reply, Williams) ((Post by Cody)) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Deck 14 - Crew Mess – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams – 15:19) "No information, but you may have a date within the hour." He looked over and returned Palmer’s Kurt grin. ~ Anything to defuse the tension~ “Would deffinatly need to keep an eye on my fingers but I think a date with a….” He and Palmer turned at the sound of banging from the corridor out side ~Ow great~ As Palmer took out his tricorder, he stepped over to the Farengi and qickly packed his medkit as he scanned the room. ~We are going to need to get out of here sharpish~ “Do you know who they are?” (Reply Palmer) His eyes returned to the Farengi as he scrutinised his condition. ~I really don’t want to move him but better a few open stitches then dead or a parasite in the head~ “How long will the door hold do you think?” (Reply Palmer) His eyes spied a Jefferies tube hatch tucked in the corner of the room. ~It will be a squeeze but we could make it~ (Reply Palmer, any) (Posted by Robbie) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Deck 14 - Crew Mess - CSO, LT.jg Kurt Palmer – 15:21) “Do you know who they are?” Asked the doctor. Kurt's fingers poured over his tricorder, as another loud crack came from the other side of the door. ~they could've just overridden the lock.~ "There's still residual interference from the pulse." Kurt tried again The next crash was followed by a crunching sound. “How long will the door hold do you think?” Williams asked as he readied for a possible departure. "Well, I can't imagine much longer." Kurt said snapping shut the tricorder and reaching for his weapon. ~these things are supposed to have incredible strength.... They should be through the door by now.~ "You think we can we move him?" Kurt nodded to the drowsy Ferengi. (Reply, Williams) "Let me see if I can seal this door, and buy us a little extra time." (Reply, Williams) The science chief's fingers hovered over the controls on the phaser rifle as he shuffled through his brain to remember the correct setting. ~uuh~ The controls let out a quick whir as Kurt adjusted the beam intensity. He raised the weapon, and aimed at the junction between the door panels. The science chief drew in a breath as he retracted the magnetic trigger. He slowly swept the orange beam downward, fusing the doors together. As he reached the base there was another crack from the corridor. The sound caused Kurt to loose focus, and the phaser beam veered off track, cutting through the right door panel. ~damnit.~ There was a sudden spark, and the top of the door panel blew off, crashing into the corridor. "Get down!" Kurt crouched behind the closest table. ~I'll have to revisit that last tactical training module.~ He waited for a moment before peering around the side of the table. ~is there anyone there?~ (Reply, Williams, any) ((Post by Cody)) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Deck 14, Crew Mess – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams – 15:24) "You think we can we move him?" Andrew looked at the Farengi and then at Palmer. “We can move him but we will have to carefully so that we don`t open the stitches.” "Let me see if I can seal this door, and buy us a little extra time." “Good idea and I`ll get him ready to move.” =^=Alexander to Williams, Doctor, status update=^= “We have the Farengi stabalised in the Crew Mess but we have movement nearby.” "Thanks Doctor, when you can, we have secured the Comm center, join us at your convenience." “We will get there as soon as we can.” Andrew`s equipment was ready by the time the conversation was finished and he looked over at Palmer. Suddenly the top of the door panel blew off, crashing into the corridor. "Get down!" Andrew grabbed the Farengi off the table and onto the floor. He was not going to get his patient hit by cross fire. He put his body in the way to brake the Farengi`s fall which knocked the wind out of him as they landed on the floor. He paused for a moment listening for any sound coming from the door before he carefully moved the Farengi onto the floor beside him. He crouch behind the table as he pulled his phaser out. “See anything Kurt:” As he glanced at the open door. (Reply Palmer) (Reply, Palmer, any) (Post by Robbie) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Communications Center - OPS, Ensign Will Alexander - 15:25) Will and Sorensen had finally mad it up the Comm center, there original destination. It was just the two of them, there small away team had split up so that the CMO and CSO could play field medic. It was a call Will made, and one he would make again. As they entered the room, it was empty. They had encountered no resistance on the way up, though they were being trailed by a certain hologram that had been following them stealthily and had entered the room with them. "Sorensen, secure the door, look it from the inside, we don't want any unwanted guests." (Reply Sorensen) "Thanks," Will then hurried to the console to begin his part of the mission, cutting off outside communication to the station, establishing communication with the Spectre, and start looking for any classified communication that had been sent to the station that would help them begin to discover the extent of the conspiracy they were hunting down. "The door secure?" (reply Sorensen) "Perfect!" Will said as he opened his tool kit. He had an external drive with which to download information on, as well as a decryption device to hack into the secure system. "What are you doing?" It was BETH, who finally made her self visible. "We are trying to get to the bottom of this, investigate the comm file to see if there is anything that can back up or claims that there is something going on, a conspiracy in the Federation." "I see," the Hologram looked cross. "I promise we aren't going to harm anyone, or leave the station defenseless. This will help get it under control, right Michael?" Will responded (Reply Sorensen) "I see, fine, I will let you work. Though I would recommend having your security officer try and take control of station security from here, if you do that you can shut of the ETH's and prevent any of the others from getting in your way. We were created differently from other holograms. We all have personality quirks. Some are quite robotic, some of us, are so aware we want nothing more than to not be a hologram, others are calm and collected, and others a bit blood thirsty. It is probably best you turn us off." "Sorensen, get on it, try and see if you can't get security control to this comm center." (reply Sorensen) With that order given, Will began working on taking control of the Stations comms. It was easier than he thought, and within a minute he was in charge of Station communications. "Alexander to Kerge." Will said initating a secure channel. "I have taken control of the Communications center, is your team well?" Will hadn't heard from Kerge in an hour. (Reply Kerge) "Roger that sir, I will keep you updated." Will then created another channel. "Alexander to Williams, Doctor, status update." (Reply Williams) "Thanks Doctor, when you can, we have secured the Comm center, join us at your convenience." Finally will opened a secure channel to the Spectre, which Will was hoping was secure enough not to be monitored. "Alexander to Spectre. Captain, we have seized control of Station communications. I will begin searching the data for evidence shortly." (Reply T'Vhor) "I'll let you know what I find. Alexander out." Will then closed the channel and got to work. (Reply Kerge, Sorensen, Williams, T'Vhor) (posted by Will Banowsky) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Deck 14, Crew Mess - CSO, LT.jg Kurt Palmer – 15:26) “See anything Kurt?" The doctor called from the back of the room. There didn't seem to be any movement from the partially open door. The science chief leaned on his hand, rifle still deployed, as he tried to get a better look. ~well...~ "Keep an eye out doctor..." Kurt said as he climbed to his feet. Staying low, Kurt scurried across the disheveled mess hall. He crouched behind the intact half of the door and peered into the hall. ~nothing?~ He poked his head out into the corridor. There didn't seem to be an obvious source of the sounds. The science chief looked back over to his counterpart and shook his head. (Reply, Williams iyw) Kurt gripped tightly the handle of his weapon as his palms started to perspire. He slowly climbed through the broken threshold and quickly glanced either way down the empty corridor. About a meter down he spotted a poorly removed bulkhead panel. "Doctor." Kurt called poking his head back into the mess hall. "Seems like we're all clear, but someone tried to do some impromptu remodeling." ~looks like my basic engineering final at the academy, honestly.~ (Reply, Williams) As he stepped back through the ruined door, there was a disgruntled chirp from the computer as it detected someone entering the room. ~Thanks, computer. That's helpful.~ (Reply, Williams, any) ((Post by Cody)) (Starbase 39 Sierra - Deck 14, Crew Mess – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams – 15:28) "Keep an eye out doctor..." Palmer said as he climbed to his feet. Andrew watched as Palmer staying low scurried across the dishevelled mess hall. He glanced over the Farengi to make sure that he was still breathing and then with phaser ready in his hand he crouched ran towards the door. He reached a piece of cover just big enough to hid behind as Palmer looked back at him and shook his head after he had pocked his head in to the corridor. “Where the hell did they go?” Palmer did not answer but climbed through the broken door and into the corridor. Andrew gripped his phaser tighter as he realised if anything happened to Palmer he would be in deep trouble. "Doctor." Palmer head poking back into the mess hall as he called out. "Seems like we're all clear, but someone tried to do some impromptu remodelling." Andrew gave a quick sigh of relief at what Palmer said. “Thank goodness for that.” As he stepped towards Palmer who was entering the room. He paused for a moment taking in the situation. He crossed to a wall mounted console and brought up a deck plan for the starbase. “So we are here...” He pointed to a point on the deck plan. “…and the others are here in the communication centre.” He drew his finger along the route from where they were and where they needed to go. “With those lot roaming around out there we can’t just go the straight path.” He paused for a moment looking at the deck plan. “We could double back to this point and then go around the other way, near the docking bay through here. Going through the Jefferies tubes would be quicker but I would rather not drag the Farengi through those narrow passageways.” He looked over at Palmer. “Unless you can see something that I have missed.” (Reply Palmer) (Reply, Palmer, any) (Post by Robbie) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Communications Center - TAC/ASC, Ensign Michael Sorenson - 15:30) Michael looked round as him and Alexander reached the comm center. The trip there had been particularly uneventful, which was welcome. The room was empty, which somehow didn't put Michael at ease. They entered the room and ensign Alexander got them back on their mission. "Sorensen, secure the door, look it from the inside, we don't want any unwanted guests." Michael moved to the door. "Yes, Sir." He closed the door then removed the panel to override the lock. "The door secure?" "Yes sir." Michael replied. "Noone will be sneaking up on us." "Perfect!" Will said as he opened his tool kit. Michael knew that he would be using this to hack into the station's comma to suit their mission. "What are you doing?" It was BETH, who finally made her self visible. Michael spun round. He had no idea the hologram had been following them, although it explained the uneasy feeling he had been experiencing since they reached the comm center. "We are trying to get to the bottom of this, investigate the comm file to see if there is anything that can back up or claims that there is something going on, a conspiracy in the Federation." "I see," the Hologram looked cross. ~Should have known she would follow us.~ "I promise we aren't going to harm anyone, or leave the station defenseless. This will help get it under control, right Michael?" Will responded "That's right." Michael said, looking over at BETH. "We need to establish more secure communications so we can deal with the threat accordingly." The hologram continued talking to Alexander. "I see, fine, I will let you work. It is probably best you turn us off." ~That all stands to what I remember learning.~ "Sorensen, get on it, try and see if you can't get security control to this comm center." Without wasting a word, Michael moved to one of the central consoles. Since all the systems were linked on the station, rerouting some of the functions wouldn't be too difficult. As he did so, ensign Alexander worked to restore communications, before contacting the rest of the team and the ship. "Is there no way to determine if any of the other holograms could be helpful BETH? Someone like yourself? I'd rather not shut down anyone that could help us." (Reply ETH Unit B) "Right. Well I'll see what I can do. The systems aren't exactly damaged, but something is causing some trouble with the hologram programs. Have you recieved any strange data in the last twenty minutes?" (Reply ETH Unit B) Michael turned to Alexander. "Sir, I suggest you contact the team again. The holograms seem to be recieving rogue instructions, BETH has confirmed this." (Reply Alexander) (Reply Unit B, Alexander) (Posted by Brandon) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Deck 14, Crew Mess - CSO, LT.jg Kurt Palmer – 15:31) The doctor had pulled up the stations deck plans -“With those lot roaming around out there we can’t just go the straight path.” He collected his thoughts as he glanced over the map. “We could double back to this point and then go around the other way, near the docking bay through here. Going through the Jefferies tubes would be quicker but I would rather not drag the Farengi through those narrow passageways.” Then looking over at Kurt he added, “Unless you can see something that I have missed.” Kurt looked over the deck plans, as he processed the plan. " I agree." He started "This junction here, as well as the docking bay could also grant us possible cover." Without thinking words left the science chief's mouth. "... if it comes to that." He added with a nervous laugh. (Reply, Williams) "Though we've already seen my precise skill with a phaser." Kurt gestured to the door. (Reply, Williams) "Right, it's settled then." He said as he slowly helped lift the woozy Ferengi. (Reply, Williams) "And maybe we will find an abandoned hover-stretcher on the way." Kurt grinned. (Reply, Williams, Any) ((Post by Cody)) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Communications Center - Ops, Ensign Alexander - 15:32) As Will began plugging away and breaking into the communications module of the Station, he couldn't help but over hear the conversation between the Security officer and the odd little Hologram that seemed to wish for more than her programming allowed. "Is there no way to determine if any of the other holograms could be helpful BETH? Someone like yourself? I'd rather not shut down anyone that could help us." "We all have been programmed with different personalities, and we all developed quirks, some might be helpful, but others, there is no telling. Maybe. I don't know. "Right. Well I'll see what I can do. The systems aren't exactly damaged, but something is causing some trouble with the hologram programs. Have you recieved any strange data in the last twenty minutes?" "No, I'm not really getting anything, no orders, I." the hologram paused, "I figured out away to ignore the orders, I was receiving conflicting reports, so I shut off my connection to the orders. I umm, it's a quirk in my programming, that's why I was the last activated. But the orders were coming in odd." Michael turned to Alexander. "Sir, I suggest you contact the team again. The holograms seem to be recieving rogue instructions, BETH has confirmed this." "Just figure out a way to turn them all off. That will solve the problem. Get security controls and we won't have to worry about the Rogues." Will could hear the hologram sigh. A sigh of sadness. (Reply Sorensen) Will then turned back to his work. He was in, he had gotten through the firewall and was examining the comm records, a lot of communication between the Station and Madon. There also was some encrypted files he couldn't open. He quickly tapped his commbadge. "Captain, this is Ensign Alexander." (Reply T'Vhor) "Sir, I think I found the information you need, but I need command level clearance to access the files. I'm going to need you to beam over and open them. The encryption is too strong for me to work around." (Reply T'Vhor) (Reply Sorensen, TVhor) (posted by Will) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 15:35) The Spectre was now in a holding pattern, just off the Starboard aspect Starbase 39-Sierra. She had arrived approximately 15 minutes beforehand, the helm slowing from warp to impulse at the agreed marker and then continuing on in at One half impulse speed at yellow alert. After all, nobody really knew what was to be expected right now and Kerge's recent communication of Ferengi insurgents aboard had left the Captain on his guard. Ferengi could rarely be trusted, and if they were involved in the hostile takeover of 39-Sierra then nothing could be taken for granted. For the moment though the Captain stood at the Science console analysing readouts from passive scans of the station itself. So far, around 30 or so active and mobile lifesigns, apart from their away team that is, were showing on both the tactical and science consoles, and T'Vhor found himself wondering why Alexander's pulse hadn't initially knocked them out. The recent communication with Kerge had raised the question as to whether it all might have something to do with the differences in their brains, and the Captain could only concur. It was then that another communication was received from the station, which the CO put out on the bridge speaker. =/\=Captain, this is Ensign Alexander=/\= The Captain returned to his seat and then bade the Ensign to continue... =/\=Sir, I think I found the information you need, but I need command level clearance to access the files. Captain out", said the Captain, standing now to hand off the bridge to K'tell, who nodded and then took the centre chair. Until then, the ship is yours" And then he stepped into the turbolift and was gone... "We all have been programmed with different personalities, and we all developed quirks, some might be helpful, but others, there is no telling. Maybe. I don't know." Michael asked a few more questions, getting some interesting answers from BETH. He then recieved another instruction from Ensign Alexander. "Just figure out a way to turn them all off. That will solve the problem. Get security controls and we won't have to worry about the Rogues." The hologram sighed. Seemingly sad. ~I know that it's just the programming, but she really does seem genuinely emotional.~ Michael looked at his senior officer. "Understood, sir. I'll have the program source isolated in a few minutes." While Michael worked, he heard Ensign Alexander communicating with the captain. Michael turned to BETH. "I'm sorry that I have to turn you off as well. I can't shut down the others without shutting you down too." (Reply Unit B) "I promise your station will be safe. We'll make sure of that." ~It's just a hologram, why does it feel like murder?~ (Reply Unit B) Michael looked at BETH once more before turning away. "Sir, I have security control. He didn't noramally feel bad for holograms, but his memories, thoughts, personality had been trapped as a transporter pattern for years. In a way, he knew what it was like to be turned off, and then restarted. "Sir, I have security control. I can shut down the holograms when you give the order." Go ahead Ensign, shut down the holograms then transfer security control to my console." (reply Sorensen) "Thanks Ensign." Will sighed as he saw BETH turn off. He felt bad for her. She became more aware than the average hologram. Aware of her existences, and wanting more, and he had just, shut her off. "Ensign, contact Lt. Kerge and the rest of the away team, let them know we have security control and to meet us here, then fortify our position." (reply Sorensen) Will then contacted the captain again. "Alexander to Captain T'Vhor. Sir we have taken control of Station Security, it is now safe for you to beam directly to our location." (reply T'Vhor) "Aye sir, we are standing bye" While waiting for the captain, will made sure his external drive was attached to the console. It was mainly brought to transfer communication logs and evidence of a parasitic take over in starfleet. But there was room for something else. Something he felt like he had to do. He didn't know why, and it felt somewhat out of character, but he did it anyway, I guess to make up for turning her off. He located her file in the system and transferred to his drive. She would no longer be located on the Starbases main frame. Instead she could be taken easily to the Spectre. If nothing else, she could serve as a valuable information asset. "Ensign, Don't feel bad about turning off BETH. I have a feeling the holograms life will get a little bit more interesting." (reply Sorensen) (Reply Sorensen, T'Vhor) (posted by Will Banowsky) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Communications Center - TAC/ASC, Ensign Michael Sorenson - 15:40) "Go ahead Ensign, shut down the holograms then transfer security control to my console." With that order, Michael switched off the hologramatic program. He watched as BETH faded out. It seemed weird. He didn't know if it was down to his relative new arrival to the ship, or just due to the strange bond between hologram and away team, but it seemed wrong. "Program shut down, sir." "Thanks Ensign." Michael was barely aware of Ensign Alexander's response. He turned back to the console and began rerouting control to the main console. "Ensign, contact Lt. Kerge and the rest of the away team, let them know we have security control and to meet us here, then fortify our position." "Yes, sir. I have also managed to transfer security controls to you." Michael then tapped his combadge. "Ensign Sorenson to Lieutenant Kerge. Sir we have control over the station's security systems. We can rendezvous here and begin the next stage." (Reply Lt. Kerge) "We will have the comm center fortified upon your arrival. Sorenson out." Michael turned back to his console, finalizing the security transfer to the other console. (Reply Alexander) (Reply Alexander, Kerge) (Posted by Brandon) (USS Spectre - Transporter Room 2 - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 15:41) The Captain gave instructions to the transporter operator immediately he and Lieutenant Smith had entered the room, he was to await the signal from Alexander and then proceed with the beam out directly to the Ensigns location. It all seemed pretty straight forwards but although the Ferengi insurgents on the whole had been corralled or nullified, something did not seem right. Of course, the Captain was part Betazoid and that part of him had been the cause of much turmoil and angst over the years, not least because of the conflict that arose from having a highly emotional aspect to his make-up riding in tandem with the logical calm of a Vulcan. Right now though, that Betazoid empathic side was pinging his senses like a hammer hitting piano strings, and yet everything had been reported as safe. It was at that moment though that the call came through from Alexander that everything was ready, and after acknowledging the report, the Captain duly nodded to the transporter operator. The room 'fizzed' out of existence shortly after to be replaced by the Communication deck of Starbase 39-Sierra with Alexander and members of his team on hand, whilst Lieutenant Smith appeared to take note of a female ETH accompanying them and then stood by awaiting further orders. The Captain wasted no time at all in raising his earlier concerns, immediately calling for a report on the entire situation as he moved forwards. (Reply Alexander) T'Vhor nodded accordingly. "And we are sure that all insurgents are accounted for?", he asked, his empathic senses now on high alert. (Reply Alexander) The Captain exhaled heavily, then he moved to the console to begin the task he had arrived there to do, bringing up the data on the terminal as the computer requested authorisation. [Command Code Required] "Captain T'Vhor - Captain of the USS Spectre - Command code, T'Vhor-Alpha-Tango-9-1-2" [Command Code Verified with Voice Print Analysis - Please Proceed] The Captain then turned to Alexander... Let's see what we can find out in regards what has happened here" (Reply Alexander) The Captain then turned to the security officer that had beamed over with him. "Lieutenant, I want you to liaise with Lieutenant Kerge and the available ETH's. I have a strong feeling that we are missing something here" (Reply Smith) The Captain then opened a channel to Lieutenant Kerge. "Captain to Lieutenant Kerge. Please respond"... "I'll clue you in when we get back on board. Just a little something I'm working in." Will had noticed the Captain had arrived as he was speaking and didn't want to reveal he had stolen the hologram he just turned off. The Captain wasted no time at all in raising his earlier concerns and asked for a report. "Most crew is incapacitated, except a few which are currently hold up in lower decks that I have sealed off. All control to security and tactical systems are being routed through here. All tactical holograms are currently offline and not a hindrance, and our ferengi friends seem to be scattered and unorganized." T'Vhor nodded accordingly. "And we are sure that all insurgents are accounted for?", he asked, his empathic senses now on high alert. "From what I gather yes, and I have an algorithm working in the system that is tracking their movements. "Lieutenant, about the ETH's, they are currently offline. There is an error right now in the data being transmitted to them that I can't isolate at the moment, so they are off for safety reasons, but Ensign Sorensen over there is up to snuff and capable. "Yes, sir.” "If you step over here I can deal with any concerns you may have." "I'll clue you in when we get back on board. Just a little something I'm working in." Michael nodded. He wanted to ask more but right then a distraction walked in, in the form of the Captain and Lieutenant Smith. The Liutenant was quick to ask about the status of the holograms. Michael waited while Ensign Alexander delivered his report. "Lieutenant, about the ETH's, they are currently offline. There seemed to be an awful lot of it and some of it had apparently been layered into further encryption that did not require command clearance, instead being a separate piece of deep encryption entirely. "Sir, I think you are going to want to see this.", said the Ensign perturbed. The Captain stepped in and then began scrutinising the data further whilst Alexander pointed out various sections, noting that the infiltration seemed to be running deeper than any of them had expected. Any of them that is, apart from the Captain who nodded accordingly... "This is not a surprise", he began. "Admiral Alexander and I were aware that the infiltration had run deep, and some of these names are known to us", he added, bringing the attention of the Ensign to a group of names that seemed to make no sense at all. "And these?", he asked. Ensign Alexander had seemingly noted them also and immediately went on to explain. "I can't make out all the names sir, they weren't included in the original transmission, but I will let you read the ones I could recover for yourself." The Captain nodded. "We can disseminate the data better when we get back to the ship. Is there anything else of note?", he asked. Alexander then scrolled the data further, stopping at an area that bore a name that T'Vhor was no stranger to" Alexander nodded... "I also am finding mention to something called Messiah. I am saving a copy of everything to an external drive.", he answered, reaching into a pack beside him for the relevant equipment. T'Vhor took a deep breath, his mind now working overtime, but still hampered by the empathic impulses he was feeling as he studied the screen closer. 'Messiah'. There it was. The definitive link to one Sulia Madon and the very core seriousness of the situation here. Right now though, Messiah was of course strictly 'Need to Know' only, and so the Captain simply acknowledged the Ensigns referral to it and asked him to proceed with the backup. It was at that moment that Kerge entered the communication deck, his group in tow along with one very frightened looking Ferengi child... The Ferengi child at his side, uncharacteristically, a female seemed somewhat attached to him, a fact that had clearly made the Klingon security chief a tad ill at ease. Kirien of course took the child's hand and led her aside, realising instinctively that the Captain and the Sec chief needed to talk. "Lieutenant", said the Captain, gesturing now with his hand towards one of the side rooms as he himself made towards it. Kerge, glanced about the room as though to assess the situation, noting Smith on hand talking to Sorensen and Alexander still busy with the previously decrypted file. Everything seemed to be OK, for the moment anyway, and so he followed the Captain into the room. "Take a seat Mr Kerge", said the Captain, and the Klingon availed himself of a chair oppose the one that the Captain had just taken himself. "Sir", he said... The Captain looked pensive, Messiah still on his mind and with all of the ramifications that the word prompted. Of course, Kerge had been made privy to all of the information regarding Madon and the legendary Messiah device already, indeed the CO had briefed him of it on a need to know basis over One week ago and just prior to Admiral Alexander's odd disappearance. "It would seem that Sulia Madon may have visited this station just as we thought", began the Captain, "we've found encrypted files naming high ranking Starfleet officers along with mention of the Messiah device. Which leads me to the concern that she may have acquired at least a part, or parts of it", he added. Kerge nodded, sharing the Captain's obvious worry. "Is there mention of Venom Nine?", he enquired. The Klingon knew full well that the cybernetic organism, Venom Nine, had been reportedly seen in Sulia's company. He also sensed that things were not good right now, making the query a logical one. Borne of a fusing of an old Obsidian Order/Romulan project, Venom was not to be taken likely, and it's further involvement, if proved, would certainly be a veritable fly in the ointment for sure. "Not as we are so far aware", said the Captain. "I've taken the liberty of ordering Ensign Alexander to continue the disassembly and decryption of certain key files in the station database when we return to the ship. We'll know more then" Kerge nodded. "Wise", he replied. "If Venom turns out to be involved then...." The Captain interjected, cutting the Klingon short. "Yes, I am aware of that, and it's reputation of course", said the Captain. "Right now though there is something more pressing that is worrying me" "Sir?", said Kerge... "Ensign Alexander reports that most of the insurgents aboard the station have been nullified or duly contained. But, there is something not right", said the Captain, referring now to the empathic 'pings' he had been receiving both prior to, and up to his arrival. "There is something hidden. Something that we have missed here. It is.... bothering me" Kerge straightened up his shoulders and placed his hands upon the table before him. "Would you like me to run a full security sweep of the station, Sir?", he asked. The Captain paused... "The teams here have already swept the station", he said, sounding now as though it might not have been enough and pausing again to ponder the situation. Then he continued on. "Do it", he asked. "I would suggest that the station ETH's are queried also since they will have full access to all of the sensor data. I have been made aware that Ensign Alexander ordered them disabled due to inconsistencies in their programming that might lead to errors, but I think we may have to chance reactivating at least One", said the Captain. Kerge nodded again. "I'll see to it", he said. "Will that be all, Sir?" "Yes Mr Kerge", said the CO. "Remember though, both Messiah and Venom are still 'Need to Know' right now. We will need to be sure of their involvement here before we make it common knowledge to anyone else" "Sir", said Kerge, standing then and turning to return to the communication room as the Captain did likewise... (Reply Sorenson) (Reply Sorenson, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Bridge - Tactical Officer, Lt Rowan Briggs - 15:58) The bridge seemed unusually relaxed and calm, considering what had transpired earlier on SB 39-Sierra. Reports had arrived that the Ferengi had been present and that there were skirmishes occurring which had culminated on an alert on the station itself. Briggs, the tactical officer on station had watched it all firing off on his console and had given the Captain a running commentary of it before he had chosen to beam over to the station himself. Alexander had requested that command authorisation had been required and T'Vhor had duly attended. It seemed to be quite believable and yet no one really expected the events that would soon follow. The first signs that something were amiss were picked up on the bridge tactical station by Lt Briggs, who immediately alerted the First Officer. "Sir, I have a report of an unauthorised beam in on Deck 12", said Briggs, concerned, but no sooner had he finished speaking he was correcting that announcement, the tension in his voice raising accordingly. "Sorry, make that 2 unconfirmed beam ins. Decks 12 and 13" Remae was on it in an instance of course, the seriousness of the situation prompting an immediate call to security to get to the required decks and the raising of their alert status to Yellow as he began accessing his armrest controls. Suddenly though, the controls were no longer functioning and he immediately stood and headed over to the tactical console, Briggs moving aside accordingly. "We've lost bridge control to the warp and impulse engines", he snapped, running his fingers deftly across the console as he was repeatedly locked out of higher functions. Wasting no time now, Ktell attempted to lock down all access to engineering with his command codes, but not quick enough it would seem. Someone was powering up the battle bridge! "What the....", cried Remae. Briggs watched in horror as the view on the bridge viewscreen shifted to the left. Suddenly, everything was in chaos with officers running from console to console as they attempted to get a handle on what was occurring. Someone was taking control of the Spectre! The bridge had been locked out. Engineering was not responding. Remae inhaled deeply... "RED ALERT!", he cried and immediately headed to the turbolift, his intention now to get down to either the battle bridge or engineering, himself. But the turbolifts had been locked out also prompting the First Officer to punch the door in anger. He then stilled his mind, closing his eyes as his brow furrowed up. How had this happened? How had someone managed to override the security protocols and beam aboard to two such critical areas of the ship? "How many assailants?", snapped Ktell, directing his query to Briggs now. Briggs attempted to access the tactical console once again only to find that it was now completely locked out. "I'm sure I read two groups, Sir. Five patterns in the buffer on each instance, although I can't be absolutely certain" Ktell then moved back and took the centre chair once again opening up a ship wide channel. "All hands, this is the First Officer. The ship is compromised and there are hostiles, likely Ferengi aboard. The bridge is locked out. Secure Decks 12 and 13....", said Remae, just as the viewscreen changed again, this time to show a smug looking Ferengi DaiMon staring right back at them. The bridge crew stood silent, their mouths agape... "Greetings Mr Ktell", he began. "Please, don't bother to try securing those decks, they are already secured by us via commands codes graciously provided by your own Captain, which, I might add has given us full access to all of your systems... Life support included", said the Daimon, an aggression in his tone that said that he wasn't kidding. Briggs pondered the words - 'Graciously provided by your own Captain'... There was no way that the Captain would hand his command codes over, and there was voice print analysis on it also. How could they have got the codes? Then it suddenly began to make sense. The Captain had been called over to open up a file using his command authorisation. The file had been a ruse, whatever it had contained! Ktell settled back into his chair, the realisation occurring to him also. Clearly not one to be threatened though, he came straight to the point with the Ferengi DaiMon. "What do you want?", he asked. "Why have you taken control of this vessel?" The Ferengi though was not about to give him any answers just yet, apart from the fact that they were now clearly under way again, the warp engines thrumming to the accompaniment of their subsequent increase in speed. "You will know our intentions when we want you to know them Lieutenant Commander", said the Ferengi, "until then, I suggest that you simply sit tight and await further orders", he added, before suddenly and somewhat arrogantly closing the communication. Suddenly, the bridge was no longer relaxed and calm.... The news he had just received was clearly of the utmost importance, for not a moment beforehand he had been gazing out through one of the large observation ports looking out onto the docking gantry's, the area where the Spectre had been holding station now mysteriously devoid of a Spectre, thus confirming the report he had just received. "Sir", he interrupted, the urgency in his voice now quite clear to everyone. "The ship appears to have left the station. For what reason I am uncertain but...." The Captain cut him off in an instance, tapping at his combadge and then attempting to hail the ship itself, although with no luck. He then headed towards the tactical console on the left side of the communication centre itself and proceeded to access the station sensor logs accordingly. That niggling little uncertainty that had been pinging his Betazoid senses apparently falling into place now as he pulled up the logs. "The ship headed off on course One Six Five, Mark Two Four. It was tracked for four minutes and then it disappeared, indicating that the cloak has been deployed", he said, addressing those assembled there. "We must assume that the Spectre is under the control of hostile forces", he added, before turning then towards Ensign Alexander. "What ships are currently docked at the station, Ensign?", he asked. Will nodded and then did a search of the ships located in the dock registry. There were four ships of varying size and speed. The largest was a Galaxy class, but that would be too much to manage with the limited crew, the others were both Intrepid classes. The only choice was the Defiant class ship in dock. It was fast enough to catch up, packed a punch and was small enough to be manned by a limited number of crew. "Sirs, our best bet is the USS Rome, a Defiant class. We should be able to man with our limited crew." Will said directing his comments at the CO and Security chief. The Captain was sure now that his earlier empathic 'pings' related to this one singular event and that the Ferengi were more than likely responsible for that. Nonetheless, he still kicked himself for not having seen it earlier. Deviousness would have been the key to the means that they had used to achieve this 'theft', which if nothing else was evidence enough to place them firmly in the driving seat. How though had they actually managed to override the Spectre's security protocols? Right now, it did not make much sense, but the fact that the Captain had just recently provided his command authorisation to the station computer system, hinted at a ruse... Alexander, on the Captain's query had just returned a manifest of the ships currently docked at SB 39-Sierra, no doubt realising where the CO was going with this and adapting his responses to suit. They obviously needed something fast, easily crewed and with an armament capable of taking on the superior capabilities of a ship rigged for silent running. The Defiant Class 'Rome' seemed to fit the bill nicely, so with that in mind the Captain gave the order. "What is the status of the USS Rome?", he asked, "how long could she be ready for launch?" Alexander pondered that briefly, running hypotheticals in his head as he made the calculations given their current predicament and rechecked the status of the Rome. "We don't have any engineer crews, but I think I am up to the challenge. Given the maintenance logs, I should be able to have her up and running to operate on minimal crew in about 30 minutes." The Captain nodded. "Get onto it, Ensign.", he said, wondering then as to what to do with the other miscreants aboard the station. Clearly, they could not be left there to run amok, although neither could any of them but a few be trusted aboard the USS Rome. The Captain turned to Lieutenant Kerge. "Have those that we have managed to round up put in the station brig, Lieutenant. The DaiMon that you recovered earlier will be accompanying us though. I have a feeling that we might have need of his knowledge right now", said the Captain. "Aye sir", said Kerge, who immediately motioned to Smith and Sorensen to assist him in that before heading off. (Reply Smith, Sorensen, IYW) Alexander then offered further input on the matter of the Rome, suggesting that he could beam them directly to the ship in order to avoid any further trouble along the way. "What do you think sir, should I enter the transport coordinates?", he asked. Site to site on a station that was already compromised seemed an uncertainty right now. What if their large eared friends had rigged some sort of a trap around that as well? They could all end up being beamed into space! A site to site transport would certainly make things quicker of course, but... "We should make our way to the Rome on foot", said the Captain, this time preferring to err on the side of caution, given that the Ferengi had already managed to dupe them via what now appeared to be a technically superior organised ruse. (Reply Alexander) The Captain nodded again, and then gave the order for everyone to make their way to the Rome in readiness for an immediate launch. After all, they had a ship to retrieve... "Aye sir. The Rome is in Starboard Dock A. We should be able to board her by entering the hatch on Deck 5, starboard side. I'm unlocking all turbolifts and doors on the path. With little resistance we should be able to get to the Rome in no time." The Captain nodded again, and then gave the order for everyone to make their way to the Rome in readiness for an immediate launch. As they were leaving will made sure to pack his kit, the external drive held all the data they needed. Even if acquiring that data may have led to the capture of the Spectre. Something he felt sort of guilty of. He should have noticed the transport, but he didn't. He was too busy trying to find other data that would be beneficial to the mission. He should have been monitoring more carefully. As they were leaving the room, he walked by the Captain, putting his hand on his shoulder. "Sir," He said softly. "I am sorry, I should have caught the transporter leaving the station. I should have been monitoring station security feeds looking for escape routes rather than mining for more comm data."
