There was only one production run of eighty five craft. Seventy eight craft have crashed. But I have flown Belker's before, three times in fact, the second and third time with a passenger. This would be my fourth flight and the current record is three." She looked over at Schliegler as she put on her flight suit ~What’s he trying to do scare me! This is not my first time in a Belker Z-1~ "We can take a more .... forgiving craft, if you wish. In fact it would be the proper response. I am close to browning my pants when I even think of flying one of these. It will take all my concentration during the whole flight. But I know I *can* do it and I *WILL* fly the Saab for a fourth time. But it does not have to be now." She shook her shoulders and said matter of fact. “Its not a problem for me. I’m happy to be with you on your fourth flight.” (Reply Schliegler) “Where did you do your other three flights?” (Reply Schliegler) She nodded, made sure everything was in its place and picked up her helmet. “Shall we!” She headed for the door. (Reply Schliegler) (Reply Schliegler, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Deck 4, CSO office - CSO Ensign Kurt Palmer - 13:07) "It's a pleasure!" Kurt smiled "What can I help you with crewman?" his hand extended. Tohr seemed to study the two for a minute then formed the words “Good smell, Trelaaahnie" before extending her giant body to place both paws on Trelawney's shoulders. She dropped down again and studdied Kurt for a minute. She gave a hefty sniff and seemed to process the information. Kurt began "Well, Trelawney and I were just about to take a look around ...." he trailed off trying to fill the silence Tohr let out a growl and showed her fangs before examining Kurt again. She seemed as if she hadnt heard anything he said. After a moment of more processing and howling Tohr launched at Kurt, his eyes widdened but he remained calm on the outside. Tohr's paws landed on his shoulders, Kurt took a step backward to stabilize himself. Her fur rubbed against Kurt's face and he felt a slobbery tounge stretch across his face once, and then again. When she moved back to a seated position and spoke, “Good smell, Clan-Elder Palmuhhh. Tohr of Margah clan serve Palmuhhh clan.” Kurt politely rubbed the excess slobber off his face with his uniform sleeve as Tohr let out a series of indistinguishable sounds. Then she added “Tohr need swisher-cave to sleep and eat and prey to eat and lights on plate to examine bits-that-make-the-whole. Help?" Kurt paused for a moment trying to piece together what was just communicated to him. He blinked "Uuh... Quarters and an office?" he glanced at Trelawney to make sure this was correct. "There seems to be an auxiliary office down the hall." he paused "though we will have to clean it out a bit first." (reply, any present) "As far as quarters... You should've been assigned to..." Kurt moved to the display on the wall, and tried to punch up a map "it should be here somewhere...." (reply, Trelawney, Tohr) ((post by Cody)) (USS Spectre - Deck 4, CSO office - CSO Ensign Kurt Palmer - 14:02) Crewman Tohr had left, room assignment issues solved. Trelawney and Kurt where left in his new office as they waited for lieutenant McKenzie. "Thought this might come in handy." Kurt laughed as he relayed the story of his surprise present from the Mithrandir's medical staff. "I'm impressed that they snuck the cans into my cargo crate without me finding out!" (reply, Trelawney) They continued giggling until an out of breath McKenzie entered the room. Kurt hadn't spent too much time with him on the Mithrandir but recognized him nonetheless. “Heh, sorry guys. Got a little lost on the way.” he said catching his breath "Not to worry" Kurt grinned and stood "Jezabel and I were just swapping stories." McKenzie made his way over and greeted both with a handshake and a smile. “Well, I see you finally got a Chief Science position. I’m pleased for you.” he said genuinely to Kurt Kurt thanked him humbly. “Trelawney.” Mckenzie continued with open arms “Jezebel. I guess my overall report on your first time on the Mith rasied some eyebrows around here. Xenobiologist, eh?” (reply, Trelawney) The three carried on for a few moments before Kurt finally got down to business. "Well then" he put his hands together. "Shall we?" he nodded his head towards the door. (reply, any present) Kurt was eager to explore the new facilities and he guessed the others were equally excited. He picked up a PADD off the corner of his desk and the three shuffled out into the corridor. (reply, Trelawney, McKenzie, any) ((post by Cody)) (USS Spectre - Deck 4, Kurt's office - CSO Ensign Kurt Palmer - 15:48) Kurt continued to work away at his terminal as he contemplated Jerry's mission. He punched a button putting out one of many fires. He glanced up at the engineer slaving away at the environmental controls in the corner. "how's it coming?" (reply, Evans) "no sweat" he chuckled at his pun "no rush" His eyes were then directed to a flash on his terminal, it was Trelawney... 'Just wondering if any of you are considering joining Jerry’s little field trip?' He typed out a quick message: 'Still mulling it over. Dealing with some backlogs and a technical problem in my office at the moment. Will let you know.' He pressed the send button and tapped his fingers along his desk to collect his thoughts. He gave another anxious glance at petty officer Evans before dragginga pile of reports across his desk to look over. (reply, Evans, any) ((post by Cody)) (USS Spectre - Deck 4, CSO's office - CSO Ensign Kurt Palmer - 16:20) Trrelawney, McKenzie and Kurt had just finished their tour of the department, they exchanged parting remarks and went separate ways. Kurt's office doors parted and he stepped in to resume his paperwork. He took a seat, skimmed over a pile of PADDs and found where to start. -- After about an hour and a bit of shifting PADDs around his new desk he reached over clicked his terminal off, swiveled his chair to the left and stretched his arms over his head. Kurt lifted himself to his feet before yawning and trying to rub the imprints of terminal screens from his eyes. He stretched his arms out a second time as he moved to the replicator. "coffee, black." A chirp of acknowledgement came from the wall and the steel mug slowly materialized in a glimmer of blue light. He took a sip, and felt much more energized suddenly. He grabbed a personal padd off his desk and filed it neatly in the same hand as his coffe. ~dinner sounds great about now....~ He exited down the corridor to the Turbolift. (Reply Any) (Posted by Cody) (USS Spectre - Deck 2, Senior Officers Mess - CSO Ensign Kurt Palmer - 17:45) Kurt seemed to be the only one eating that evening, but was more amazed at the fact that he found his way to the mess hall without incident. He shrugged and made his way to the replicator, and skimmed through the menu. He decided on an interesting sounding Bolian soup. The bowl appeared and he chose a table by the window. He set the tray down and the soft resin on metal *clink* seemed to echo around the silent mess hall. Kurt plopped down and took a taste of his soup. ~intriguing~ He had a few more spoonfuls before calling up some literature on his PADD -...Her voice took on a note of sadness. "Yet, there's a place where no Truthsayer can see. We are repelled by it, terrorized. It is said a man will come one day and find in the gift of the drug his inward eye. He will look where we cannot — into both feminine and masculine pasts." "Your Kwisatz Haderach?" "Yes, the one who can be many places at once: the Kwisatz Haderach. Many men have tried the drug . . . so many, but none has succeeded." "They tried and failed, all of them?" "Oh, no." She shook her head. "They tried and died."- Kurt chuckled as he thought this is what his ancestors thought other worlds would be like. He sipped another spoonful of soup and continued.... (reply, any, none) ((post by Cody)) (USS Spectre - Vehicular Hanger Bay – Corporal Houseman - 20:00) Houseman gunned the engine and slammed it into a high speed turn. The tires screeched as they tried to get traction on the hanger bay floor. He felt his center of gravity shift as two wheels came off the floor. He gave the steering wheel a sharp turn and the tires thumped down onto the deck. He gave a cry of delight as he realised that he was in the lead. He was driving a marine combat all terrain vehicle called a ‘Warthog’. It was basically the off road vehicle that they put in the back of the shuttle. It was a very fast and durable vehicle to start with but after the Corps had finished with it, it had become amazing. He pulled it into another tight turn as he came speeding up to the hanger wall. He tapped his brakes, took the turn, squashed the accelerator into the floor as he roared out of the turn and on the strait again. (Reply any) (Posted by Robbie) ========================================================================= Mission: Intermission Day: 2 Stardate:2414.09.30 (USS Spectre – Douwsy’s Quarters – Chief Nurse, CPO Douwsy - 02:25) Her boots hammered along the dark carpeted corridor; her heart slamming into her chest with each contraction and her breath coming in short gasps as she tried to calm her near panicked mind. She staggered exhaustion getting the better of her and dropping onto her knees. She bent forward her head nearly touching the carpet as tried to suck in more oxygen into her lungs. She saw her breath misted in grate gushing clouds as breathed. ~So need to get the main computer and get some heat in here or I’ll freeze ~ She paused as she strained her ears to hear for any noise around her. There from some where in the dark depths in the corridor behind her was the sound of shuffling foot steps. She froze as an anguished cry of rage and undying hungers echoed along the corridor. Jay then pulled her self up off the floor and hurried on away from the cry and foot steps. ~Move, MOVE~ A hand reached out of no where and latched on to her leg sending crashing her back down. ~Ow no, Ow no~ Suddenly something heavy landed on her back pinning her to the floor. Her scream of fear and pain mingled with its cry of rage and delight. She gave a hoarse cry as she tumbled onto the floor her legs and arms tangled in the bed sheets. She lay there feeling the cool deck under her as she took ragged breaths and slowly calmed down. She then pulled her self from her sweat soaked sheets and sat on the side of the bed with her head in her hands. “Ow hell that was bad.” She had not had a nightmare like that for a long time. She took a deep breath to steady herself before she got up to get some dry sheets. (Reply any) (Posted by Robbie) (Magelhera 17 – entrance to cave 907 – COUNS, Lt (jg), Jerry Hindenburgher – 6:50) Jerry peered at his surroundings, a dark, almost completely featureless place with only the entrance to the cave basking in the light from the searchlights of the Maracaibo. He glanced up towards the sky and slowly shook his head as he espied the little dot in space that was this planet's sun. At this distance it was little wonder that the planet was dark and cold. He involuntarily shuddered then looked back to the group of suited people standing behind him and he activated his radio. "Radio test Jerry, one - two - three. Respond when you hear this." One by one the responses came in with quite a bit of static. He reckoned from the strength of the responses that they would be out of contact range if they were about 100 meters away from one another. "Radio test Jerry to Maracaibo. Please respond." There was silence, as much as they had expected. The weird mineral content of the planet, at least as far as they had been able to determine because sensors seemed to be affected by the planet as well, caused many a problem. Tricorders had a scanning range of twenty meters at best and radio contact was difficult. The ship had obviously much better radio equipment than the environmental suits so it was hoped that the couriers ship could still send them a message when they entered the cave even if they could not respond. Andreas was told to take the ship out as soon as there was the first signs of earthquakes and to hover there and remain in position. Jerry looked at the metal cigar standing not too far away and raised his hand and waved slowly before turning around and activated his chest light. He guided the beam around the opening of the cave and took a few steps towards it. "Are we ready?" he asked through the radio. Upon receiving the ayes Jerry took a step closer to the entrance and shone his light in it. He frowned as there was something weird but he couldn't put his finger on it. He attempted to scratch his head but softly cursed as his gloved hand were stopped by his helmet. He looked back at the others then nodded and looked back in front as he entered the cave. A few steps within he stopped and directed his light to the circular cave wall with a diameter of about three and a half meters. The floor was leading down at a slight angle but was without any marks. Nor were the walls, for that matter. They weren't smooth, there were depressions and little flattened areas sticking out, but the shape was definitely circular, almost perfectly so. And there was no rubble, no dust. Jerry looked down and scratched the floor with his foot. It was as smooth as the walls and it would no doubt be extremely slippery when wet. Jerry suddenly froze and he examined the walls before contacting the others. "Question, where's the water? Everything looks bone dry here. And if there is no liquid then what created these caves in the first place?" NRPG: Although I guess the proper tags would be =/\= ... =/\= for hearing through the radio/comm-system, I would suggest we keep the simpler " .... " because all communication will be through radio's from now on. just remember that there will be some / a lot of static. RPG: (Reply by ALL in mission, any) (Posted by Adrie Geuken) (Magelhera 17 – entrance to cave 907 – CMO, Noah/ AI Coleridge – 06:52) Noah looked through the face plate of his environmental suit at the dark and almost completely featureless landscape. ~Well this is nice and hospitable~ [Well this is nice place to come for a holiday] Noah watched as the text scrolled across his heads up display. He gave a quiet snort of laughter. He made sure that his suit pickup would not transmit to the others. “What are you doing here?” [What isn’t a girl aloud a holiday once in a while? I down loaded my self into the suit computer] “Am I not aloud to go any where on my own? It feels like when I was first aloud to go out on my own.” [Now that you should mention it….] “Coleridge.” He growled as he glanced at the pickup volume to make sure that he was not transmitting. "Radio test Jerry, one - two - three. Respond when you hear this." He paused as he heard Hindenburgher’s voice came across the suits comm system. “Reading you Jerry but there is a bit of static.” He dropped his voice again. “Do you think that you can be helpful sort out the static interference?” [What did your last servant last die off?] “Atrophy because she did not do anything.” [Oww touchy. Okay, okay I’ll give it a go] He flicked on his suits helmet lights as he followed the away team as they trudged towards the entrance of a cave. He found him self at the back of the group as he stared at the illuminated mouth of the cave. He moved the small med-kit he had taken with him around so that it rested on the small of his back. This may be on a mystery trip but he was taken any chances especially when they were all in environmental suits. One brake in the any of their suits and it would lead to no end of trouble. "Are we ready?" “Yep.” As the other replies came in Coleridge messaged again. [Can’t clear the static you could try and get closer to him. That might help.] “How closer do I need to get to him?” There was a pause. [You could hug him] Noah rolled his eyes and sighed. “You are such a comedian you know that.” [Yep its good isn’t it] Noah ignored her as Hindenburgher’s voice came across the suits comm system again. "Question, where's the water? Everything looks bone dry here. And if there is no liquid then what created these caves in the first place.” He thought for a moment as he looked at Hindenburgher who was examining the walls of the cave. “Could it be made a long time ago when the plant may have water?” (Reply away team) (Posted by Robbie) (Magelhera 17 - Entrance to Cave 907 - CEO - Ensign Remae Ktell - 06:55) The CEO was inside his suit and it wasn't pleasant, hot, limited manoeuvrability, noisy with air flowing in and out on his every breath and basically uncomfortable. After they had ventured in, he was keeping more than one eye on his oxygen gauge... paranoid? Probably. "Question, where's the water? Everything looks bone dry here. And if there is no liquid then what created these caves in the first place?", said Jerry looking closely at the structure of the tunnel. "Could it be made a long time ago when the planet may have water?", asked the CMO and Remae looked over, through the glaze of his helmet as he checked his tricorder. "This tunnel wasn't made by water flow, it's far too mechanical in nature, this wasn't natural.", he said looking up from his tricorder and then he added, "It's not new either, it's been like this for a long time.", he looked back at the tricorder. "The tunnel extends beyond the scanning range of my tricorder. Shall we go for a walk?", he said closing his scanning device and he looked around at the others. (Reply from All on Mission) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (Magelhera 17 - Entrance to Cave 907 - CMO, Noah\AI Coleridge - 06:59) [Its not water] "This tunnel wasn't made by water flow, it's far too mechanical in nature, this wasn't natural.", [See I told you] "It's not new either, it's been like this for a long time.", He watched the information scroll across the heads up display on his face plate [That is impressive work] He nodded in agreement. "The tunnel extends beyond the scanning range of my tricorder. Shall we go for a walk?", Noah gave a quick smile. “Why not.” He turned and looked down the tunnel as he shined his wrist mounted light ahead of him. [Let’s find out what’s going on. This is supposed to be an adventure after all] Noah rolled his eyes and signed softly to him self. (Reply from All on Mission) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Sickbay - CMO, Noah – 23:30) Noah looked around the sickbay. The lights were dimmed as it was out of working hours. He had sent the staff home and he was the only one there. There was no patient and things were quiet and they were only a comm call away if he needed it. He stepped into this office and pulled out a small black case which he took back and placed it on a bio-bed. He opened it up and carefully took out a wooden Ukulele he hoisted him self onto the bio-bed with his feet dangling over the side. He picked up the Ukulele and strummed a few chords absentmindedly until an idea came into his head. “Okay lets see how this goes.” He took a deep breath and began to play. "When I'm Cleaning Windows" by George Formby An image shimmered into reality beside him. “I thought we had to call you before you activated.” “Your playing is a medical emergency. Peoples ears are bleeding found decks around and if we had dogs they would be howling in pain.” He turned and gave Coleridge a stern look. “I would like you to know I am very good at playing the Ukulele I could have been professional.” “Instead you chose a life of vengeance and flying around in space.” “And look where that led me and now I am stuck with you.” Coleridge pocked her tongue out at him. “Any way you do realise that “Always cleaning windows” is about voyeurism and looking through window?” Noah looked aghast and placed his hand on his chest. “Ow really and here I thought it was just about cleaning windows. How could I have been so wrong for so many years. I am devastated.” Coleridge rolled her eyes and sighed. “You just don’t take any thing seriously do you?” “Wonder where I go that from.” He muttered. “Would you mind saying that a bit louder as I don’t thing the audio sensors picked that up.” “Me I said nothing.” “Hmm I guessed so. Now you think that you are so good at the Ukulele why don’t you play some thing else.” “Does the lady have any requests?” “How about Basket Case.” Noah grinned. “Okay.” With that he began to play. (Reply any) (Posted by Robbie) ========================================================================= Mission: New Faces Day: 3 Stardate:2414.09.29 (USS Spectre - CMO’s Quarters – CMO Noah – 04:15) Noah looked at the chronometer for the hundredths time. He tried to relax and fall back to sleep but it was not possible so he walked over to his console and accessed it. A screen appeared which indicated that he had a message that he had not read. He grabbed him self a hot chocolate and then sat down in front of the screen again. The image of a Trill woman smile back at him. “Hi Noah good to hear from you and glad that you have finally joined the rest of us! I just wanted to tell you that we are nearly ready to go ahead with the first trial mission. Every thing looks fine and I can’t wait to see what it looks like from the inside. The Nautilus is working better then we had expected and we should be ready to go in a few days. Well better go. Glad to see you’re still in the land of the living and make sure you eat some more or I’ll be able to see right through you.” She gave a grin and then the screen was replaced by the Federation of Planets Logo. Noah thought for a moment trying to pull from his mind what The woman was called Elya she had been on Ornara during his training completing her masters in anatomy and physiology of non-human species where they had become good friends. From there she had managed to get her self on high profile assignment. If the roomers were true she was destined for grate things. Such as the project. Noah’s cup paused half way to his mouth as all the peaces fell into place. “She did it. Ow my god she did it.” He watched the message again a grin spreading across his face. “That’s amazing.” The project was her and a Professor Daniel’s brain child. They had wanted to get into a person’s body physically. They would get inside a specially designed submersible called the Nautilus. They would then be teleported by a specially modified transporter that would shrink them down to a size a smaller then a red blood cell and injected into a person. He had told her that they had nano-bots for that type of thing which were easier and less dangerous but she had told him that just looking at a monitor was not enough for her she had to look at the real thing with her own eyes. He smiled again as he finished his cup of hot chocolate. He rubbed his tired eyes and rubbed kinks out of his neck. ~Might just see if I can get a little nap before my shift starts~ He leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes.
