He stepped cautiously after him not so familiar with the bridge as he was with main engineering. in which he had spent most of his time while on the Garallon. He walked over to the helm console and looked at the mess the void was making with the ships sensors. ~We so need to get out of this place~ "Mr Twinnings" He turned from the helm console and looked at Kurrik. ‘Yes Kurrik” "I don't suppose that this could be anything to do with my Mother's recipe?” "Plommik soup" Twinnings gave a sign that did not emanate over the suits comm system. ~Ow grate he is going nuts again. why does he have to worry about the stupid soup. its not like it can kill him. As the EMH told me before it went off line that one break in the pressure suit and I will die. “No Kurrik. I don’t think its anything to do with your soup. We need to find Porsa so come on mate tell me where to go with your fancy gadgets and lets go and find her. So that we can get off this creepy haunted house in space.” (Reply Kurrik) (Reply Kurrik, any) (Posted by Robbie) (ATV Garallon - Bridge - Academy Cadet Kurrik - 19:02) "...so that we can get off this creepy haunted house in space.”, said Twinning, prompting Kurrik to raise an eyebrow quizically. Vulcans knew of course that hauntings were illogical, irrespective of the fact that they acknowledged the soul as energy, and that it could leave the body, even reside within another. But haunted! "I do not believe that the ship is haunted Mr Twinnings. Indeed, it is amost illogical statement, given that the void is the most likely reason for any and all unexplained manifestations", said Twinnings. (Reply Twinnings, IYW) Twinnings was right though, soup was probably not the most important link in this miasma of events, regardless of its seeming importance to the Vulcan himself. Turning to the science console once again, Kurrik began accessing the internal sensors, which were sporadic to say the very least, and non-existant worse case. "This will take some time", said Kurrik. "The sensors are unpredictable, as are our own senses it would seem. One might liken this situation to being in a zero gravity, featureless room, and being asked to stand on the floor", he added. (Reply Twinnings) "Perhaps we might gain some assistance from our friends out there", said Kurrik, pointing to the viewscreen to a Tellarite freighter that was no longer there. "Their sensors may be more relaible than our own, given their familiarity with this environment of course.", he added. (Reply Twinnings) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Ten Forward - COUNS, Elani Caras - 22:12) When the idea had been floated to open sickbay to the demented walking wounded, Elani's not so peaceful nap had been interrupted and she had found herself in ten forward, talking first with the caterers, making sure that the first thing that happened when people came in was that they received a high protein, high complex carbohydrate beverage, She vaguely recalled that her friend Amari liked these things, and while it didn't seem to be helping much, it certainly wasn't hurting anyone. Most of these people had been on duty for far too long in this maddening atmosphere and they obviously needed to eat and drink. Low blood sugars would not help the situation any. Starfleet officers had this bizarre idea that duty was the most important thing, and that they could not stop to rest or eat until 'duty' was satisfied. It didn't matter that it was to their benefit to eat, to better perform that duty. She had been sitting beside Yeoman Bates, who was sobbing something inconsolably. It was against the code of ethics for telepaths in the federation to 'read' the thoughts of nontelepaths but there were certainly many who habitually violated that oath. The emotions of the crew in ten forward were so depressive that Elani could not unshield to read the Yeoman; even though she was certainly tempted to. It was about then that even through her shielded mind, the glowing silver presence of a Priest had walked into the room. She knew instantly that it was Riven Mias and she smiled towards he and his mate, Michaella Kirien. They were talking quietly with the Bajoran Chief Engineer. It made sense that in this situation the Priest would be working among the crew, and with command. For a moment Elani found herself a bit angry that he got to do the chief counselor's duties, but she dismissed the thought almost instantly. He had obviously trusted her enough to send her to rest, so that she could assist with the crew when his strength had run through. She then blushed as she noticed that Riven was relaying the conversation to her telepathically. She found herself nodding along as she patted the Yeoman's back letting him continue to sob on her uniform tunic. As she listened, she sent a burst of approval to the two, then turned back to the Yeoman, speaking softly to him and eventually, slowly the Yeoman calmed, crying himself out. She reached down to her emergency medical kit. "Drink this slowly, it will help you." She handed the drink to him, and watched as he began to sip it. She dialed a very low dose of a tranquilizer and anti-anxiety combination and pressed the hypo-spray to his upper left arm. As it hissed, she watched him for any adverse reactions, although she knew that they would be very rare and quite unlikely. Still, the mishap that had landed her in sickbay with one of her patients was still quite vivid in her mind. She felt herself growing hot with embarrassment as she remembered that situation. She hadn't done anything wrong, but that Doctor had made a fool out of her in front of all of sickbay, undermining the crew's trust and authority in the young Ensign. The trio had left ten forward and were on to the various duties that they had to perform. Satisfied that the Yeoman would suffer no problems, she stood up, stretching and grabbed one of the frozen drinks from the catering staff, sipping it herself right after she felt her muscles pop and relax. She still needed to contact Riven and see what he had in mind for her to do. She could protect ten forward, or she could treat the people that came in. She wasn't able to do both. She moved around the room and stopped beside Miss Hikaru, who was in charge of ten forward. Speaking softly, "Mei Ling, your staff is doing a wonderful job. Can you direct the catering staff to work through the ship and make sure these drinks are given to every officer on duty? I truly do think that it will help with the void phenomenon that we are all experiencing." Mei Ling was a listener, and so she nodded and then went to fulfill Elani's wishes. It was then that another person, this one a raving red headed science officer that Elani had never met before met was brought in. The emergency medical tech looked up as Elani hurried over. "Lt. Trelawney was found outside of her lab, screaming about a demon that was coming to, ah, eat her soul." Elani's dark brown eyes met Jezebel's violet, and when she touched her hand to the science officer's, Elani jerked back in alarm. "She's part Betazoid?" Elani asked in concern. "Do you have Sacarrilol in your kit? We need to shut down her telepathic abilities before her terror has everyone in here climbing up the walls and violent." The technician nodded and consulted his padd, then injected the dose into the Lt. After a few moments, Elani touched the woman's hand again and nodded, this was good. "Rest here, Lt." She wasn't sure of the woman's name and looked to the technician who shrugged back at her. With an inward sigh, Elani reached for the beverage, "Drink this. We have temporarily shut down your telepathic abilities for the next few hours, but don't be alarmed. You were projecting your emotions rather loudly and it was not your fault." Elani made sure that her voice was firm as she said this. None of this was anyone's fault, just a matter of circumstance. "You should rest here, and if you need anything, please come see one of us." Elani stood and moved off as yet another person was brought into the former lounge and she went to do triage with him. (reply any in ten forward if you wish) (posted by Melinda) (ATV Garallon - Ten Forward - Academy Cadet Porsa - 22:13) Porsa's stomach had rumbled all the way to Ten Forward, which was odd considering that she was dead. Was it even possible for a dead person to feel hunger? One would have imagined that hunger would have been a thing of the past when your corporeal shell was no longer a viable vehicle in which to travel. And yet here she was, hungry. Stepping over some spilled food, plates and cuttlery on the floor of the Ten Foward lounge, she brushed aside her mindless ramblings and made tracks for the galley. They had been serving a particularly tasty homity pie the day before that heartless bitch had taken over the ship and cast them adrift, and she wondered now if there was any left. The thought of it made her stomach growl again and as she pushed aside the swinging hatch and ventured into the cooking area to look about. Nothing... The pots and pans were empty, the matter reconstitution hatches opened but devoid of even one speck of homity pie, which was all pointing to the fact that Porsa was going to continue to go hungry. "Drat, and double drat", she said, thinking back to the cartoon character from the archives that had uttered those immortal, but apt words. With a heavy sigh, the cadet moved on, spying what appeared to be half a loaf of bread on a tray under the main counter. ~Beggars can't be choosers~ she thought, and picked up the bread, which seemed only slightly stale. Good enough to eat anyway. For a moment or two, Porsa then sat at a table gazing out into the void through one of the observation ports as she nibbled her bread, thoughts of Twinnings and Kurrik popping in and out of her meandering consciousness between swirling gaseous ventings outside. "Where in the hell are you two anyway?", she muttered, her thoughts manifesting. "Are you dead too? Are you hungry?", she added, laughing to herself as she rubbed her belly through her tunic. "Hey!", she said, again out loud and to some imaginary friend nearby. "Pass me the butter will you old chap, this bread is very dry don't ya know" There was nobody there of course but it seemed a good thing to be doing to pretend that the room was full, if only to stop herself from going completely insane. Insane? Now there was a concept. This place itself WAS insane, madder than a balloon or a box of Frogs, but where was the Dragon? Indeed, she hadn't seen sight nor sound of it for many hours now and it only served to emphasise the loneliness that she was now feeling. Her expression though was suddenly changing from a smile to a frown, and then to sorrow. Immediately, the beleagured cadet was suddenly tearing up, the tears begining to trickle down her cheeks as the reality of it all began to finally sink in. There would be no rescue or white knight to carry her onto his Horse. She was going to remain here as a ghost, and that was all there was to it. With that thought lodged in the forefront of her mind, she placed her arms onto the table before her and then she buried her face into them and let it all go. Nobody would hear her anyway, and if they did, she didn't care. In her moment of emotional and mental collapse though she had neglected to note the arrival of another through the doorway of Ten Forward. Indeed, had she seen him, she would have thought that he was simply a figment of her shattered imagination. But he was not. The truth of the matter was that Twinnings had finally found her.... I'm not sure why I didn't think of it earlier.”, said Dr Kirien. “Interesting idea Doctor. I will find out if anyone has not been hallucinating. If everyone isn’t overwhelmed in Sickbay, we can ask them to run the scans.”, said Remae... something he could do and grasp hold of, finally. He couldn’t help the Marines, he couldn’t stop a telepathic invasion of all hands but finding someone and getting them to sickbay, he could. “First Officer to Doctor Wil...”, he started but Andrew has beaten him to it. =^= This is Doctor Williams can any one hear me? =^= “Yes Doctor. This is Remae. We can hear you, is there a problem?”, he asked... he wanted to ask about locating someone who hadn’t reported in experiencing hallucinations but the Doctor sounded concerned about something else. He was now standing up. He waited for the Doctor to answer. As soon as he got the hunt started, he would have to return to the Bridge... he had been away too long already. (Reply from Williams, Kirien, Mias, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre - Ten Forward - ACOUNS, Dr Riven Mias - 22:27) "I appreciate the explanation however, I suspect I will never fully understand. It seems to me you both put your mental state as well as your lives in jeopardy for the sake of the crew and ship. I don't think we could ask more but I feel I need to. Do you have a specific recommendation to make? I take it protecting the crew is no longer an option at least, not totally, so it seems." The FO had moved to a bench while he was talking and had looked at the mind healer soberly. Riven's reply then was not in keeping with his expectations. "On the contrary I believe there are some on board who are maintaining the effort and I will shortly be ready to take my vigil once again." The Betazoid gave the man a reassuring smile. "I must caution however that we will not be able to maintain the mental shielding indefinitely. I would project that at most it will be available for only a few more hours before we all collapse from the strain and all of us are going to need significant downtime for sleep before we will be able to raise such a defense again." Michaella's hand in his had been warm and fortifying. "We sent Elani to rest, so she should be fresh enough to take over an area. We don't have a lot of telepaths that are currently rested. The void takes a lot out of you." Riven had nodded in agreement. "Just as I said. Were we in other circumstances I could expect we could hold through the night but the Void is putting a great deal of strain on us all." ::Are there any bonded pairs on this ship? I don't think so.:: Riven looked toward her. :: Two that I know of.:: "I don't want to experiment on the crew, but if these hallucinations are tied into your psychic abilities then maybe there is something that can be done. Perhaps inhibiting those abilities. Most people are marginally sensitive. What I would be interested in is if we can find a crewmember who has had no hallucinations versus one of the people who have the most. If we can compare the brain scans, then maybe we would have a better idea of what we are dealing with. This is all theoretical, and guesswork at this point. I'm not sure why I didn't think of it earlier." He nodded once again in agreement. "They would have to give their consent of course but the data might be helpful for future forays into the Void." “Interesting idea Doctor. I will find out if anyone has not been hallucinating. If everyone isn’t overwhelmed in Sickbay, we can ask them to run the scans." Remae was projecting satisfaction at the idea. “First Officer to Doctor Wil...” He was cut off by the voice of the CMO. =^= This is Doctor Williams can any one hear me? =^= “Yes Doctor. (Reply from Riven, Kirien, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (Unknown - Science Lab - CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 22:31) Andrew sat bolt up right and screamed as he tried to extinguish the flames with his hands.it took his mind a few seconds to work out that he was not on fire. He looked at his surroundings as he realised that he was not in the corridor he had once been but in a large room with which looked like scene equipment in the shadowy corners. “Where were you when I needed you.” The voice boomed out from all sides. “Why did you leave me” He looked around the room trying to find out who the voice belonged to. It was heavily augmented but is definitely sounded female. Suddenly a bright spot light from the ceiling pierced the darkness and illuminated a figure attached to the surgical device with its arms spread wide. Andrew recoiled in horror as the figure raised her head and looked at him. “Look what has happened to me because of you.” It was his sister, his sister Audrey looking back at him. His sister then starfleet officer, the spy, the traitor and terrorist, the murderer, the fallen hero, the redeemed warrior, the gentle, loving and caring sister who would help him through his nightmares or be with him to help him through problem. None of these things were in the person looking at him now. After the civil war she had been recruited by Starfleet intelligence and on one of their missions she had been kidnapped and her mind fused to an alien control chair which she could then control any ship with her mind. His sister was not like this the last time he had seen her. She had been excited about her new mission on the USS Serenity this was not right. “You abandoned me when I needed you most. You left me for five years.” He stepped closer. “Its not like I had a choice. the whole 51st fleet was pushed forward as well.” “But you left me” She screamed. “How could you do that to me your own sister. We are family. We are the only ones left. How could you abandon me.” He stepped closer reaching out to touch her cheek. “I am here now. It will be okay.” He said softly as Audrey's eyes help nothing but hate and rage. He could see her begin to glow and pulled his hand back relexifly. “it will not be okay. You left me. This all happened to me because you abandoned me and left me to sufferer.” The brightness intensified as Audrey exploded into a ball of fire incinerating everything in the room. Chief Palmer is there something I can help you with?" "I'm just...." He said in a strained voice. "Somehow everything is up here..." He trailed off as chatter started behind him, something about déjà vu. He heard his name called, it was one of the medical staff. "I don't know how this got here." He hopped up slightly in hopes of knocking the PADDs down. A few chirps and a <>unable to comply<> were audible over the thunk of Kurt's boots hitting the keypad beneath him. "Let's get you out of here. Are you feeling okay?" The doctor said behind him. Kurt turned with another unsteady wobble. "Fine. I'm fine." He sighed, admitting defeat. "Help me get him down from here..." The doctor signaled to Haltom. (Reply Haltom) "Didn't you hear me? Let's get him down and get out of here!" She snapped back. The science chief started, slinking to his knees and then down to the floor. "I haven't the slightest idea of how long I've been in this lab, or what the ship's status is." He paused spotting his PADDs and coffee exactly where he left them. "However, from my limited observations, it seems this void is causing hallucinations." His question had caught her a bit by surprise obviously but he couldn't shake the feeling that history was repeating itself. Something like that scene in an old movie called "The Matrix" which had been remade several times where the hero had seen the passing of a black cat repeating itself. His musing was interrupted by Angeni who had walked to the distracted scientist and tapped him on the leg. "Ensign Palmer?" "I don't know how this got here." He said whereupon he returned to his strange activity. His hops upon the workstation was apparently confusing the computer which was quietly scolding him in its own sad way. (Reply Any) (Posted by Charles) (USS Spectre - Void Hallucination - ACEO, Ensign Jake Haltom - 22:37) The figure swathed in silent black armor that made him one with the shadows took a careful step forward upon the glowing moss and surveyed the area before him. The glowing mushrooms growing in scattered clumps upon the wall of the cavern and tunnel along with the luminescent fungi underfoot gave little more than a dusklike visibility here. Somewhere ahead he could hear the soft sound of swiftly flowing water but could see little more than shadows beyond twenty feet. His boots made him essentially silent but he didn't rely on them completely because of the marks many feet had made in disturbing the glowing floor covering. Places this deep in the earth often were the realm of the Falmer, the cursed and degenerate descendants of the Snow Elves who used their ears rather than their eyes to locate intruders because the curse brought upon them by the Dwemer had stolen their sight. He bent his knees to examine the tracks more closely then with a silent shake of his head he carefully removed an arrow from the quiver and nocked it to the string of the Ebony Bow of Damnation he carried in his left hand as his eyes raked the darkness. Raising himself back into a crouch his gaze settled on an inky splotch against the irregular wall of the cavern and he turned his head slightly to the right to make use of the more efficient black and white capabilities of the 'Corner of his eye' as it was known to the Nords. Sure enough not much later he saw the swaying movement of a hunched figure, his precautions had borne fruit. He brought the feathers of the arrow slowly to his cheek as he sighted along the shaft knowing even the subdued sound of its release would be like a fired bullet to the creature. He released the shaft upon a silent exhale behind the mask and the whisper of the bowstring caused the cursed being to spring from its crouch. It didn't have time to turn however as the wickedly barbed head buried itself between its shoulder blades and its kinetic energy slammed it into the cavern wall. The Harbinger smiled grimly after a moment, the Falmer hadn't had a chance to cry out before its soul like blue fire had sprung from its torso and leapt back across the cavern to where he was already nocking another arrow. There it was absorbed by one of the empty black soul gems he carried in his pack. Even though he didn't enjoy stealing the souls of sentients this grand soul gem would enchant an item of great power and he had the idea for a less 'messy' version of this long range weapon that would do much more damage than this one would while leaving their souls more mercifully intact rather than damning them to the Soul Cairn where DurNehViir was cursed to dwell. It all looked familiar but he just could not place the location. From what he under stood of the layout from the endless corridors was that it was a massive complex and much bigger than the Spectre. He stopped suddenly and turned his head to try and catch the sound which he thought he had heard. ~There it is again~ He mover towards the sound as he tried to make it out. It was someone calling his name. He could just make it out over the sound of the ventilation system. He began to move more quickly down the corridor as the voice disappeared. He came to a T junction and waited so thathe could listen over the sound of his own breathing. he heard the voice again this time louder to his right and headed down the corridor at a run as to not lose it again. He rounded the corner and came skidding to a hault. In front of him was a woman lying curled up on the floor. As he came closer he noticed that she was wearing a red uniform dress like the style that was worn in KIrks era. The woman turned as he knelt down and he looked into the face of Jay. Jay was his oldest friend who he had been his roommate at the academy. She was cervasuiuse and cheeky and they had been close ever since. He saw tears streaking down her face as she sobbed uncontrollably as he looked down at his friend. “Jay what’s happened?” She hugged him closely and buried her head in his shoulder. He could feel her body shake with each sob. “Jay talk to me what’s the matter.” She said something but he could not hear it. He pulled her away enough to look at her face again. “You cannot save us.” “What do you mean Jay.” He saw her face change from heart broken sorrow to furious rage.He felt her arms tighten around in an iron grip. “You cannot save us.” She screamed into his face as she spontaneously combusted in front of him. The last thing he felt was a searing heat and a smell of burning flesh as he blacked out. I am glad to see you.”, said the Bajoran walking in on the Chief Science Officer. “Ah, Ensign Haltom. Excellent. I appear to found...”, he looked at them for a moment. “More hallucinations?”, he asked shaking his head. This must be what going mad felt like. “Gentleman, I need to find a way of communicating with the Marines on the Garallon. We’ve restored some power to them but I thought we’ve heard from them by now.”, he said looking at them both. “I realise is going to be hard, more so with the current condition of us... its been a long shift, but anything you can do...”, his voice trailed off. He was also feeling the effects of lack of sleep, a break and being stuck in the void was starting to affect him. He left the request hanging, hoping one of them would come up with an idea of what could be done. (Reply from Palmer, Haltom, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre - Sickbay - Marine, 2nd Lt Lhiannon Kindell - 22:41) Both of the main doctors had come to speak with Lhiannon, reassuring her that both she and Kindell had survived the surgery. Her pale skin further paled when it was mentioned that Kindell had been removed from her. Lhia's right hand covered the pouch in the abdomen that the symbiont resided inside protectively. Lhiannon had worked extensively with both of the main Doctors and she held a great deal of respect for their dedication and skill. She flashed a wan smile at Trommashere. " I'm thirsty. Very thirsty. And I am craving something salty. Possibly from the lost blood?" A pause and Lhia's bright cornflower blue eyes looked off into the distance for a moment. "The biggest problem is that I can't feel Kindell. I feel lost, bereft. I feel like I felt when I was pre-joined, but with a sense of deep loss. I feel despondent." She sounded clinical for a moment then moved those eyes back to Trommashere's face. "I suppose it is the void. I did not realize that it could disrupt the bonding with my symbiont. When do you think by chance that the connection will be restored?" There was an emptiness in her gaze, as if she was missing half of her soul. She frowned again and kept her gaze wanly on the Doctor. "I... I do not remember what happened. I remember speaking with my Marines, and then there was an intense burst of light and then I fell into darkness." Haltom laughed out loud which caught the science chief off guard. "Yes indeed which is why me and the doc here have come to help." The engineer managed through his laugh. Kurt opened his mouth to reply after Haltom recommended they regroup elsewhere, but before the conversation could continue another engineer entered the mix. "Lt Palmer. I am glad to see you.” Came the voice of the Bajoran Llieutenant, Remae Ktell. He acknowledged the others in the room “More hallucinations?” The lieutenant shook his head. “... I need to find a way of communicating with the Marines on the Garallon." He trailed off explaining the current situation. Kurt looked at his colleagues, they were all exhausted. He felt their briefing, earlier that day, took place a month ago. He could only assume the others felt the same. "I have a few ideas." The science chief started. "However, I think we need to take your advice, Ensign, and get out of this lab." (Reply, and iyw) He looked at the others checking for further hallucinations. "Is everyone with us?" (Reply, Haltom, Windsong, Remae, any) ((Post by Cody)) (ATV Garallon - Bridge - MXO, Major Bruce Kowalski - 22:42) So Rameriz was gone. Vanished. Nowhere to be found. How could that possibly be? His mobile emmiter might be on the blink perhaps? Affected by the void even. Damn! Nobody had even factored that possibility into the scenario, and whilst they had somewhat stupidly placed all of their eggs into the holo-marines somewhat dubious basket, here they were now left with no safeguard to fall back on. Kowalski was already considering a tactical withdrawal from the ship, after all their heads were not their own and the void was now messing with everything. Small comforts though had come aswelcome surpsises, albeit in short supply. The sudden powering up of the ship for example made things a little better but Bruce wondered if that was even real. "Do we have communications yet?", he asked brusqely, agitated that it seemed to be taking so long even though they apparently had power to the comms array. (Reply Any) Kowalski shook his head, his gaze suddenly fixing upon a small craft meandering in and out of the rocks off their port aspect. "Sensors?", he cried. "Do we have relaible sensors?" (Reply Any) "There was a ship out there", said Kowalski, "I don't think it was in my mind either", he added, wonderering if that might actually be the case regardless. (Reply Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Deck 4, Astrometrics - ACEO, Ensign Jake Haltom - 22:45) Jake half turned toward the door as it opened and he could hear the unmistakeable footsteps of the Chief of Engineering who was busily pulling duty as the ship's second in command. "Lt Palmer. I am glad to see you.” Jake could see from the Bajoran's face the strain of putting his fingers in seemingly thousands of proverbial dikes as he tried to keep the Spectre functioning on an even keel despite the mind warping effects of the Void. He returned the man's nod with respect. “More hallucinations? He shook his head in exasperation. “... I need to find a way of communicating with the Marines on the Garallon." The group listened intently as Remae went over the difficulty in communications Garralon and nodded thoughtfully on several occasions. Trapped away from the Spectre on what amounted to a ghost ship in the "Sargasso Sea" of space could not be pleasant to the marines and if they were to have any hope or future they needed to know what was going on and what the Captain was planning. They all needed to leave and soon, or be doomed to walk through the halls of their tortured minds until space itself claimed their fragile lives and the ships were swallowed whole by the Void. "I have a few ideas." Palmer spoke up. "However, I think we need to take your advice, Ensign, and get out of this lab." "Agreed." Jake said with fervor. "Is everyone with us?" Jake's gaze turned to Angeni who seemed to be distracted for the moment. He pointed his right thumb at her. "Even if I have to carry her, yes." (Reply: Angeni, any iyw) Before they left the lab though he asked Ktell pointedly. "Are there any safe places we can work from? If we are going to do this we need to have focused minds and unclouded judgement and mine is definitely been cutting in and out on me of late." (Reply: Remae) Jake fell in behind the others as they filed out and fought to keep the Harbinger from taking over his mind. They had a lot to do and a short time to do it in. Punching a communications "Hole" through the Void was going to take a lot of thought and to give in now could put him out of the battle completely. (Reply: Any) (Posted by Charles) (ATV Garallon - Bridge - Marine, Corporal Houseman - 22:46) "Do we have communications yet?" Houseman looked up from the communication console. “Sir the comms system is still out. I got static on all of the wave lengths I can’t punch through but I am trying.” "Sensors?" "Do we have reliable sensors?" (Reply Any) "There was a ship out there" "I don't think it was in my mind either" Houseman looked at his console and tried to sweep the area where Kowalski had said there was a ship. The console indicated that there was some sort of transmission between the ship and the Garallon but was not able to get a clear connection. “Boss I have a weird kind of comm channel between us and the ship. I can't get a clear reading it seems to be jumping all over the place. Do you want me to put it on speakers?” (Reply Kowalski) Houseman punched the button and the bridge speakers filled with the sound of warbling static. “I’ll repeat the message to help clear it up. Let me put if through some filters. Give me a minute.” The static faded and was replaced but a voice. A human voice and young from the sounds of it. =^=Tellarite ……... this ………….. Garallon…….. come …...=^= He played again with the balance as it snapped into clarity. =^=Tellarite freighter this is the ATV Garallon please come in=^= He looked around to face Kowalski. “Boss that’s coming from us!” (Reply Kowalski) (Reply Kowalski, Any) (Posted by Robbie) (ATV Garallon - Bridge - MXO, Major Bruce Kowalski - 22:47) Kowalski felt haggered. Indeed, he felt as though he had just gone ten rounds fist to fist with a Gorn, but the sight of the ship outside gave him hope, a chance to find some way out of the pea soup that he had found themselves in. Houseman had been quick to capitalise on the information he'd been given and was just as quick to report. “Boss I have a weird kind of comm channel between us and the ship. I can't get a clear reading it seems to be jumping all over the place. Do you want me to put it on speakers?” "Do it", snapped Kowalski as he eased forwards in the command chair and gripped at the armrests with his fingers as static filled the bridge. “I’ll repeat the message to help clear it up. Let me put if through some filters. Give me a minute.”, said Houseman, obviously taking note of the MXO's puzzled look before working his magic to produce something a little more intelligable. =^=Tellarite ……... this ………….. Garallon…….. come …... Tellarite freighter this is the ATV Garallon please come in=^= Kowalski looked to Houseman and shook his head, part in disbelief, part in confusion again. "What is this?", he asked, "who's sending the message" "Boss that’s coming from us!", said Houseman, for the first time looking as equally puzzled as the MXO. Bruce jumped to his feet and then moved towards the viewscreen, his eyes scanning the debris and dust clouds of the void as it meandered almost hypnotically around them. The ship was no longer there of course, had it even been there in the first place. Was it a figment of Kowalski's imagination? A blip in his psyche? Kowalski turned about and then moved towards Houseman double quick. "Find out where that message is originating from", he said. "If the transmission is coming from us, then there will be a location signature and a unique identifier" (Reply Houseman) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Bridge - Acting FO/CEO, LT (Sg) Remae Ktell - 22:50) He had done all he could and he was overdue on the Bridge. The CO would probably have more than a few questions regarding where he had been. At least, some of the questions were being answered. The FO wasn’t going to be able to stay long, he was due to return to 10-Forward as soon as he had the chance to. “Captain.”, he said returning to his chair. The viewscreen showed the same imagery as when he had left. He quickly gave an overview of the theory of Doctor Riven, the idea from Doctor Kirien and what had done to start that process of finding someone suitable for a brain scan. The idea of trying to speak to the Marines was also mentioned. Remae had no idea if that was going to be even possible. “Captain, these hallucinations are getting worse and the crew are showing the signs of fatigue. I believe we should start considering withdrawing from the void, sooner rather than later.”, he said to the Captain in a quietened tone so that others could not hear his recommendation. (Reply from T’Vhor, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (ATV Garallon - Bridge - Marine, Corporal Houseman - 22:51) "Find out where that message is originating from" "If the transmission is coming from us, then there will be a location signature and a unique identifier" Houseman moved to one side to show Kowalski what he was seeing on the console. “Boss there is some strange interference.” His fingers danced across the console to find the elusive information. He frowned at the information that he was receiving. “What the hell.” He looked over at Kowalski. “Boss from what I am reading here. It says that is it happening now. It's being sent from this console as I speak but that can’t be happening coz I’m here and there is no physical way it could happen.” (Reply Kowalski) (Reply Kowalski, any) (Posted by Robbie) (ATV Garallon - Bridge - MXO, Major Bruce Kowalski - 22:52) Houseman looked about as confused as he could be right now, clearly the readouts and the data that was coming back to him was not making any sense, but then, what did make sense in this place? One minute thay had lifesigns, then no lifesigns. No power, then power. Rats had become the enemy of one battle hardened Marine, the Holo-Marine, Rameriz had gone dark and could not be found, and the man in charge of them all was seeing ghosts and ships that were not really there! "Boss from what I am reading here. It says that it is happening now. It's being sent from this console as I speak but that can’t be happening coz I’m here and there is no physical way it could happen.", said the Marine. Kowalski shook his head, could any of this possibly get any worse? What would happen next, Elves dancing around on the bridge to a manic pipers tuneful delivery? "Why does this not surprise me?", he asked, to nobody in particular. Then in a moment of clarity he raised his hand into the air like a child tring to get the attention of its teacher. "Time!", he snapped. (Reply Any, IYW) "Time", repeated Kowalski. "Mr Houseman, if a transmission is occuring from your console but you are not sending it, then as our Vulcan friends like to remind us all so often, someone else must be", he added, seemingly formulating a theory in his head as he went. "And if someone else is sending that message, then they may just be out of phase with us. Perhaps in a different timeframe altogether", said the XO. (Reply Any) Kowalski paused, his mind racing now as he attempted to ratify what was, or might just be happening. He was no scientist of course but the one thing that almost everyone knew when it came to time anomoloies, was that something could be detected to show it. What was the name of the particles again? Chronons? "If there is a time anomoly occuring on this vessel", said Kowalski, "and let's face it, it would explain some of the weirdness we've been seeing here, then we can detect where it is centred and perhaps communicate with whoever is sending the message we have just intercepted" (Reply Houseman, Any) Kowalski was on his feet now, pacing the bridge, his mind going back to the ghost he's seen, the blur of colour, the feeling that something had passed right through him. Then he furrowed his brow. "There are still crew on this ship", he stated. "We may not be seeing them, but they are here. We just have to work out how to contact them" (Reply Houseman, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 22:52) The arrival on the bridge of Remae brought with it hope that some of their past problems had been alleviated. At least the Bajoran didn't seem to the Captain to appear more troubled than when he had left, which was a plus in a difficult situation. Reports had been coming in from all over the ship regarding increasing hallucinations and even a few borderline psychotic episodes, and with that in mind the Captain had come to a decision. They needed to get out of the void and they needed to do it sooner rather than later before everyone went completely and utterly mad. Riven's telepathic shield network had helped to a degree of course but, a mind could only take so much before it finally snapped, and Riven was clearly growing weary. The Captain could only imagine what it was doing to everyone else in the chain. "Captain.", said Remae as he returned to his chair. The Captain nodded, and the Acting First Officer began recounting a plan that had been discussed by himself, Doctor Riven and Doctor Kirien involving what amounted to diametric opposites. That is, they were suggesting finding a crewmember that had suffered no hallucinations, and one that was at breaking point because of them so as to compare their brain patterns in the hope of finding a better solution than a slowly collapsing shield. "Captain, these hallucinations are getting worse and the crew are showing the signs of fatigue. I believe we should start considering withdrawing from the void, sooner rather than later.", said Remae. It was just as well that they were both clearly on the same wavelength here, the Captain nodding his assent at the Bajorans recommendation. "My thoughts precisely", said the Captain, "indeed, I have already made the decision. This place will tear us all to pieces if we remain here for too much longer. I would suggest no more than two more hours, then we take our chances with the tractor beam, modified for extra capacity and navigate out of here with the Garralon in tow irrespective of the risks" (Reply Ktell) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Bridge - Acting FO/CEO, LT (Sg) Remae Ktell - 22:55) “... modified for extra capacity and navigate out of here with the Garralon in tow irrespective of the risks.”, said the CO. He had laid out the next two hours. The FO nodded... there was a lot to do but before he could prepare the ship, a beeping from the OPS console stopped him. Remae walked over to the console. “Ensign, what do you have?”, he asked but from what he could see, the sensors had detected another ship out there. (Reply from Smith, Any) (Posting by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre - Bridge - Ops Officer, Ensign Robert Smith - 22:57) “Ensign, what do you have?” Robert glanced up from his console that he was scrutinising and looked at Ktell. There was something out there apart from the Spectre and the Garralon but he could not get a clean scan on it. “Sir there appears to be something out there with us. I am trying to get a clean lock on it but its tricky.” (Reply Ktell) He ran the sensors through a few more sweeps and filled the signal through multiple programs until he managed to get when he wanted. “Sir I think I have it.” (Reply Ktell) The scan of a ship cleared in its frozen image. He looked at Ktell in confusion. “Sir I think its Tellarite freighter what’s it doing here?” (Reply Ktell) (Reply Ktell, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 23:01) So there WAS a ship out there. The Acting FO had been querying that possibility with Ensign Smith since the anomalous reading first appeared, but whilst it seemed unlikely that anything could survive for too long in this hellish place, it now seemed that something certainly was. What though was it doing here? "Sir, I think it's a Tellarite freighter", said Smith in response to the Bajoran's query, "what's it doing here?", he added, almost in concert with the CO's own thoughts. What indeed? thought the Captain as he himself scrutinised the viewscreen for any visual confirmation of the Ops officers suggestion that might be forthcoming. Right now though there was none. If there was a Tellarite ship out there plying its trade, and let's face it, they were probably more equipped to be doing so than anyone else, then it might be able to help them in some way. The Tellarites though were notoriously guarded and unwilling to impart information to just anyone, as traders though, they might just be open to a trade of some sort. "See if you can hail it", said the Captain, knowing of course that hailing any ship in this pea soup of a void was difficult at best, impossible at worst. Needless to say though, it was worth a try. (Reply Any) The transmission made, all they could do now was wait and hope that the other ship received their hail... (Reply Any) (Posted by Alan) (Tellarite Vessel - Bridge - Tellarite Commander, Sur Vam Gicha - 23:04) The Tellarite vessel was currently 'parked' immediately behind a large floating rock and engaged in extracting mineral deposits from within it. Gicha was currently indisposed, his pride still bruised somewhat after the Fleeters from earlier had renaged on their promise of trade for their assistance in the Shadows. The Vulcan had been particularly annoying, but then, weren't all Vulcans? The Human wasn't much bettter and the entire episode had served only to educate the Tellarite Commander in why 'never' to trust Starfleet personnel again. Bashka had been right. They could not be trusted... And so it was back to the drawing board, the promise of lucrative Federation technology having evaded them leaving only plan B to fill their hold with something worth exchange. The one thing that the Void promised in excess though was high-grade Zeolitic Ore, and in the absence of the more profitable replicator tech and weaponary, it was a good fall back. Gicha was hardly ready for the announcement from Bashka though that the other Starfleet vessel was hailing them! NCC-8741, a Spectre class. THE Spectre in fact, the vessel responsible for the class itself. Gicha's computer files held a few entries on her and after querying those files, the realisation that they were being hailed by a 'Black-Ops' vessel just seemed too good to be true. If they were in trouble then they would trade, and Gicha was smiling for the first time in about five or so Tellarite rotations. "Patch it through to my office", he urged, "let's see what they want" Within seconds, his personal desk mounted viewscreen came to life with the internal view of the Starfleet vessel. Gicha waited, he wished to appear nonchallant and unhurried so he felt it best to await the Federation Captains words before speaking himself. =/\=Tellarite freighter. This is Captain T'Vhor of the Federation vessel Spectre. To whom do I have the pleasure of speaking=/\= said the polite Vulcan CO. Gicha frowned. Another Vulcan, just what he did not need right now. Needless to say, the Tellarite remained calm and at ease, pausing for a few more seconds as though speaking to the fleeter was a chore. "Sur Vam Gicha of the Tellarite vessel, Abonar. How may you help me?", he said, somewhat pompously. The Vulcan on the screen raised an eyebrow, as they invariably did. Gicha waited, wondering as he did so why they always did that. =/\=It is my hope that we might help one another=/\=, said the Vulcan, =/\=a trade perhaps=/\= Gicha pricked up his ears, sitting up in his chair for the first time since they began speaking. This was certainly a first and a little out of the ordinary. A federation officer cutting to the chase right off the bat. No sidestepping, no double talk. Just straight to the deal. PErhaps not all Vulcans were so boring after all. "What can you trade with me", asked Gicha. =/\=What do you require?=/\= responded the Vulcan. Gicha was surprised. This was just getting better and better, it seemed that he was close to being offered an open credit chip, and that was not something that he came upon often. Settling back into his chair again, he set about seeing just how far he could push this, and more importantly, what he would have to do in return, which right now seemed the more important matter at hand. "Let's discuss what you need first", said Gicha, "then perhaps we will discuss my price" The Vulcan paused just briefly to confer with the man next to him, a Bajoran if Gicha was not mistaken. =/\=You are obviously used to working in this environment, and you do so with ease, despite the.... hazards and problems that are associated with it=/\= said the Vulcan. =/\=We need to communicate with one of our ships and tow it to safetly, but the forces in this place are seriously hindering our ability to perform that task successfully=/\= Gicha raised his fingers to his jaw and began playing with his beard in contemplation, then he spoke again. "The Shadows are getting the better of you, yes?", he asked, referring to the void now by its Tellarite designation. =/\=Somewhat so=/\= answered the Vulcan. =/\=Can you help us with our task, and if so, what would be your price?=/\= Gicha mused once again, wondering how much he could eek out of the Vulcan CO without damaging any lucrative trading advantage. "Let me confer with my 2nd", snapped Gicha abruptly, "I will contact you shortly" And then the transmission was closed... Gicha stood quickly and then moved to his computer access node, his mind working ten to the dozen now. What did this ship carry? What might they spare? It was a Black-Ops ship so it would carry weaponary above and beyond that of a normal starfleet vessel. Perhaps even priceless weaponary. The Tellarite had suddenly forgotten the two fleeters from beforehand, consigning them to the drawer marked 'time-wasters', his mind fixed now on what this T'Vhor might be willing to let him have. Perhaps he would not be going home with a half empty hold after all. Perhaps his ship was about to come in? Gicha took a seat once again and placed the data module in to the access port, and then he began reading off the information therein... He thought back over the events in past several hours, he had been on duty longer then he could remember but he wanted to update his log during this quiet moment in the mission. "Computer, open First Officer's log, this stardate and startime.. flag this report a general status report and transmit to Starfleet Command when we are out of this void.", he said sitting down at the computer terminal. He read quickly the previous report from the Captain... before deciding what to add: "The Tsinkada Void has proven to be a lot more trouble that we imagined. The psi bubble created by Dr Riven has been compromised and the crew are expecting hallucinations but, even so, they are coping with these, overcoming each and returning to their duties. A lesser crew would have gone mad!", he said to the computer, smiling at their dedication and even good humour, under the circumstances. "We found the Garallon, the Marines are on board but we've lost contact with them... I managed to rig an energy beam to provide some power to that dead ship... and then we can find out what is happening." "Back on the Spectre, the crew has been split into two groups, one with medical problems and ones with psychological issues including Dr Riven and Dr Kirien. Riven recently explained to me what is happening with the void and the other telepaths on the ship. The attack on them was similar to a previous event on the USS Mystique." "Computer, end the log there.", he said standing once again. It had been sometime since he had returned to the Bridge. He headed out to return to his position. If the Spectre was going to move out of the void, probably at high impulse, they had 2 hours to shore up the emitter. “Lt Remae to any Engineer, meet me in the Tractor Control Room.”, he said as he began to run his fingers over the controls. The booth was usually unmanned and controlled from Engineering. He was going to need help and the FO wasn’t going to be able to stay when the Spectre started its trip out... but someone would need to monitor and maintain the emitters.
