With a sigh he start to eat and meanwhile he was looking through the windows, wondering if it ever stops. "Hey Patrick!" He startled and looked up. "Oh, hi Sara" he said and looked into a young woman´s smiling face. "I scared you?" she said and sat down. "I think, a little bit, yes" Patrick mutter and continuing eating his lunch. Sara laid his hand on his shoulder and looked into his face. "You´re homesick, right?" she said and let her hand on his shoulder. Patrick nodded and looked into her face. She was beautiful. "Think you are right again, Sara. Does it ever stops?" he asked without hoping to get an answer. "When it´s time, Pat. It could take only a few days or longer, but I´m sure, you´ll be fine. When you need someone to talk, you know where to find me, right?" she said and start eating her lunch. Patrick squared his shoulders and nodded. "Yes, thanks" he answered and attended to his lunch. At least his Academy training simulations weren't as confined and they smelled better too. Walker had been traversing so many jefferies tubes, corridors and access vents he got himself lost. Lost good. "Damn it! I'm tired of scraping my head, pinching a finger and cramping a muscle crawling around in this damn ship. As soon as I find sickbay I'll see about patching myself up." ~I haven't a clue where I am...must be somewhere near the main computer. My tricorder can't penetrate the area ahead so this must be the core shielding that's denying my scans. Come to think of it it is warmer here. Gotta be the computer core. I'm too far to port for this to be engineering. Sickbay should be nearby...its always in the center of the ship near the computer core.~ A few meters more and Walker pushed his way out into an opening and gently deposited himself into what appeared to be a store room. His palm light brightly illuminated the area as he inspected room. He moved his light back to a specific area, noting the patch of liquid on the floor that trailed behind a storage container piled three high. It was obvious that the dark liquid was and the tricorder confirmed his suspicions. He navigated the entire room, but didn't find its owner or any trails leading out of the room. Whatever had left the liter of fluid wasn't here any longer. ~What is going on?~ thought Walker making his way carefully out of the storage room and into the nearby hallway. "Okay let's find sickbay." (Reply none) (Posted by Gavin) (Starbase 39 Sierra - Deck 14, Docking Port – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams – 16:01) "Though we do have a patient in need of immediate medical care." Andrew smiled at Palmer and nodded. “Pity we can’t highjack a medical transport.” "Besides, it's not like they'll need all 19 runabouts in the next few hours" Andrew nodded. “That is true. We can at least borrow one.” He looked along the line of runabouts and then over to Palmer. “Well which one takes your fancy?” (Reply, Palmer) (Post by Robbie) (USS Rome - Cargo Bay 2 - CSO, LT.jg Kurt Palmer – 16:20) "Understood, sir. Right away." Sorenson said before clicking off the comm and turning to Kurt "Well then, let's get this loaded." This was the part the science chief had very little experience with; he had one mandatory starship weapons class at the academy. There he primarily stood in holographic weapons bays and worked with photon launchers that were really only a collection of photons. As he stood in front of the torpedo he thought how this was probably the only time he had been near an real-life torpedo. "Right, you're the expert here" Kurt said to their tactical lead as he ran a hand through his hair. "I'll follow your lead Ensign." (Reply, Sorenson, any) ((Post by Cody)) (USS Rome - Cargo Bay 2 - TAC/ASC, Ensign (JG) Michael Sorenson - 16:22) "Right, you're the expert here" Kurt said. "I'll follow your lead Ensign." Michael wheeled a trolley over. "We need to get the device onto the trolley and wheel it down to the forward torpedo tube." He gestured over two crewmen to help. "On three?" (Reply Palmer) "Ok, one, two, three." The four of them lifted the device carefully onto the trolley. "Ok then, now it's just a simple journey to the torpedo tube, provided nothing else goes wrong. The device will work, right?" (Reply Palmer) "Ok, fingers crossed. Let's get this moving." (Reply Palmer) (Posted by Brandon) (USS Rome - Cargo Bay 2 - CSO LT.jg Kurt Palmer – 16:24) "We need to get the device onto the trolley and wheel it down to the forward torpedo tube." The Ensign said wheeling a trolley over "On three?" "Right." Kurt readied on the back end of the case. He counted down, and he it was all hands on deck to lift the device carefully onto the trolley. "Ok then, now it's just a simple journey to the torpedo tube, provided nothing else goes wrong. The device will work, right?" "I mean that was the goal, right?" Kurt grinned. "Ok, fingers crossed. Let's get this moving." ~wrong moment, got it~ The group gathered around as they pressed on. (Reply, Sorenson, any) ((Post by Cody)) (USS Rome – Deck 4, Section 1 – TAC/ASC, Ensign (JG) Michael Sorenson – 16:32) Manoeuvring the trolley down to deck 4 hadn’t been the smoothest of transitions in the small corridors. Michael had decided that launching the device from the fore torpedo tube would prove the most accurate. “Once this thing is launched it’s only going to last as long as the power cells hold out. After that we lose the sensor readings.” He said to Palmer. (Reply Palmer) “The guidance system had to be removed as well as the warhead, which means this thing is only going to fire in a straight line.” (Reply Palmer) “Yeah, exactly. They better not miss.” ~If they miss our only option is hope we fly into them.~ They wheeled the trolley into the torpedo bay. “Right, one more feat of strength to get this thing into the launcher and we should be good to go.” (Reply Palmer) (Reply Palmer) (Posted by Brandon) (USS Rome - Jefferies Tube J20, Junction A4 - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 16:53) By now, Ensign Alexander had drawn his phasor also and was accompanying the CO through the tubes moving as quietly as possible. The intruder, if indeed he or she was a hostile, needed to be apprehended sooner rather than later, because there was no room in their plan to be chasing a possibly infected crewman through the bowels of the ship, whilst chasing their own. Reaching the point at which the Captain had seen the shadow though, a glance down the requisite juncture revealed nothing, the assailant obviously having moved further away from them now. T'Vhor signalled Alexander to move ahead and to the left with a wave of his hand, whilst the CO himself moved to take a right, his logic being that the tube they currently occupied doubled back on itself, leaving the intruder with nowhere to go but to one of them. That had been the plan anyway, but a sudden noise up ahead sounding as though something had hit the walkway grating changed all that, a voice then followed. "I'm Ensign Walker Markell who's there?" Alexander and T'Vhor exchanged a glance... "Ensign Markell, I need you to step out into the open where we can see you and you need to explain what you are doing here", said the Captain. Almost immediately a crewman then stepped out, his hands palm out in front of him to show that he was unarmed. "I've been aboard the station for sometime...trying to avoid whatever infected the crew and find help", said Markell, clearly trying his best now to look as un-threatening as he could. The Captain pondered briefly. Right about now he could have used Williams or Kirien and her medical scanner to verify a few things. If this man was infected himself then they could be opening up a whole can of worms, perhaps literally by trusting him off the bat. Then again, if what he was saying was true and that he had been avoiding the infected station crew for so long, then he too needed to know that they themselves were not infected. They had to play this one calmly... "Ensign Markell, I need you to accompany me out to engineering. There are a few things that we need to ascertain before we can sit down and talk. We need to be sure that you are not infected yourself, and we need to show you that we are not infected also. Do you understand?", said the Captain. "Understood. I am unarmed...coming to you slowly." said Markell, who by now was moving towards the two of them, his hands still outstretched. The Captain then tapped at his combadge, his phasor remaining trained on the advancing crewman. "Captain to Doctor Williams. Please respond", said the Captain. (Reply Williams) "I need you in engineering immediately. I have a medical scan for you to perform", he added. (Reply Williams) The Captain then closed the comms and moved aside so as to allow the Ensign to move ahead of him now and back to engineering... (Reply Markell, IYW) (Reply Williams, Markell, IYW) (Posted by Alan) (USS Rome - Cargo Bay 2 – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 16:58) "Let's see about this magic I have to work." Andrew smiled as he looked over at Palmer. “Don’t worry Kurt I can get you a wand” He was about to carry on when the comm system clicked into life. =^=Captain to Doctor Williams. Please respond=^= Andrew paused for a moment. “Yes Captain?” =^="I need you in engineering immediately. I have a medical scan for you to perform=^= “Understood Captain on my way.” He looked over at Palmer and Sorenson who were still examining the torpedo. “I’ll be back once I have seen to the Captian. Don’t blow yourself up.” He picked up his tricorder and headed out of the cargo bay. (Reply None) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Rome – Main Engineering – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 17:03) Andrew entered engineering seeing T’Vhor standing beside Alexander and a ensign that he did not know. He quickly crossed the small engineering of the Rome and stopped beside T’Vhor. “Captain you need me?” (Reply T’Vhor) (Reply any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Rome – Main Engineering – CO, Captain T'Vhor - 17:04) Up until now the Ensign had seemingly played ball with the Captain and Ensign Alexander, and the CO's Betazoid senses told him that Markell seemed to be legit. He certainly wasn't lying about who he was, that much was for sure, but there was still room for uncertainty regarding the man's physical state. It was quite possible of course that he had been infected by one of the parasitic organisms as many of the station crew had been, and that he was simply pretending otherwise, so until they could confirm one way or another, a phasor remained diligently trained upon him. “Captain you need me?”, said the Doctor as he entered engineering. "I do indeed, Mr Williams", answered the Captain, turning towards him as he strode in, a confused look upon his face as he laid eyes on the newcomer. "This is Ensign Markell, he's been.... hiding, within the Jefferies Tubes of both the station and the Rome", he added. Williams nodded accordingly, clearly unsure as to just what 'hiding' meant. The Captain however, continued on... "I need you to run a scan to ascertain Ensign Markell's overall condition. Whether he has anything within him that, shall we say, should not be there", said T'Vhor. (Reply Williams) NRPG: FYI Robbie. Markell will likely be clear of the parasite but will probably be fatigued... The Captain then stood back as the Doctor got to work, pulling equipment from his medical bag as he did so... (Reply Williams, Alexander IYW) (Posted by Alan) (USS Rome – Main Engineering – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 17:07) "I do indeed, Mr Williams” Andrew watched as T’Vhor turned to the other ensign. "I need you to run a scan to ascertain Ensign Markell's overall condition. Whether he has anything within him that, shall we say, should not be there" “Yes sir. I will have a look.” Andrew looked over at Markell. “Ensign if you could come over here for a moment?” (Reply Markell) He moved over with Markell to a console and offered him a seat. “Okay basic question. How are you feeling at the moment?” (Reply Markell) He took out the tricorder and began to scan Markell. “While you were on the station did you come in contact with any of the crew who you felt were acting strange or different?” (Reply Markell) (Reply Markell, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Rome – Main Engineering – ACEO, Ensign (JG) Walker Markell - 17:10) "This is Ensign Markell, he's been.... hiding, within the Jefferies Tubes of both the station and the Rome. Walker felt more like a space rat than a human, but understood why he was here. “Ensign if you could come over here for a moment?” "Certainly." replied Walker. Walker took a seat on one of the biobeds. “Okay basic question. How are you feeling at the moment?” "Well to be honest other than dehydrated, hungry and very tired just fine." replied Markwell noticing just how dirty his uniform was. (Reply any) The medical officer continued, “While you were on the station did you come in contact with any of the crew who you felt were acting strange or different?” "No I did my best to avoid contact altogether. I've been able to keep my distance and unnoticed until your Captain and engineer found me. I did notice a great many crew who didn't seem right...I have no other word for it. Sick perhaps? Given the fact that I didn't know what was going on on the ship or station, all the usual security protocols and communications were down I took my time to investigate." Walker offered. (Reply any) "I think I just need a shower and some rest...otherwise I feel okay." he continued. "Can you tell me what's going on? I was assigned to this ship and really don't know what is going on and who to trust." Andrew paused for a moment before glancing at the captain and then looking back to Markell. “I can’t tell you much and you will get a proper briefing when things are a settled.” “The station has been infected with a nasty and highly infectious parasite that control its hosts. They are hard to detect apart form a modified tricorder to specific scan for them.” (Reply Markell) (Reply Markell, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Rome - Science Labs - ASCO, Ensign (JG) Patrick O'Hara - 17:13) Patrick´s boss, the Chief Science Officer Kurt Palmer, came in and looked around. As he saw Patrick, he came to him. (reply Palmer) "Yes Sir, I´m on my way." Patrick answered and left the lab. (reply any) (posted by Stefan) (USS Rome – Main Engineering – Ensign Will Alexander - 17:14) Will waited for the doctor to give the engineering ensign the all clear. He didn't even give the ensign time to breath. Ignoring the request for a shower Will interjected. "Full briefing can wait for later ensign, time is of the essence and I can use an extra pair of hands down here getting the ship up to full power." (Reply Markell) "If that is OK with you sir, the two of us can work down here and you can get back to the bridge.", offered Alexander. The Captain nodded and then looked to the Doctor. "In your opinion Doctor, is Ensign Markell fully fit for duty?", he asked. (Reply Williams) The CO acknowledged that and then bade Alexander to continue. It made sense that as the impromptu Captain of the Rome, his place was on the bridge and readying the ship for departure, and with a qualified Engineer now on the case, then things might move along a little quicker. "That will be fine Ensign", he said in response to Alexander's suggestion, "the sooner that we can get to the bottom of why we are not hitting full warp capacity, the better" (Reply Alexander, Markell IYW) The Captain then left Engineering to return to the bridge... Apart from a bit of malnutrition and dehydration his is fit for duty.” Andrew watched as T’Vhor nodded and then moved away from Markell and Alexander as they went to work. He checked the map on his PADD, and confined around a bend for a few meters. He paused, looked back at the device and up at the doors in front of him. ~that's it.~ He clicked the control next to it and the doors parted revealing a tiny lab. As he scanned the room, he noticed one of his new officers. "Ah! Ensign!" Kurt greeted the dark-haired officer. "It looks like I've found you just in time to help me adjust the sensor interface." He paused and looked around the lab. "If you wouldn't mind heading up with me. We need to connect the sensor system to a makeshift probe, and reroute some of the torpedo targeting system though the science console." "Yes Sir, I´m on my way." Patrick answered and left the lab. "Yes I'll just..." Kurt called as the doors closed behind the ensign. "...just need one or two items from here first..." (Reply O'Hara) ((Post by Cody)) (USS Rome – Main Engineering – Ops, Ensign Will Alexander - 17:17) “Yes sir. He is clear, no signs of the parasite. Apart from a bit of malnutrition and dehydration his is fit for duty.” Will heard the CMO say. "Perfect, I'll get him something to eat once we are in transit." Will said with a sense of urgency in his tone. "Ensign Merkell, follow me please." (reply Merkell) They walked a little bit to a terminal. "We think there is some sort of limiter imposed on our warp drive, preventing a proper flow of plasma from the EPS conduit, preventing maximum warp. I am trying to narrow down what the issue is. Care to lend a hand?" (reply Merkell) "Alright, take a look at this schematic and tell me what you think. Do you see anything that could be the issue?"
