If this does not work we might have to pull the main power lines.” (Reply Jordan) “Yes but it would take time to reconnect after that type of damage.” (Reply Jordan) She tapped a quick sequence of commands in the console in front of her. As she watched the nothing happened. She gave a soft sigh as she resigned herself to what she had to do next. “Okay Chief, it looks like we are doing it the down and dirty way.” She moved to one side and yanked off a panel which covered an access crawl way. “Okay Chief you take port and I’ll take starboard.” (Reply Jordan) She moved in to the crawl way and saw the leaver which she needed to pull. “Okay Chief disconnect in 3,2,1.” She pulled the leaver which manually disconnected the impulse engines. She felt a slight shudder as the drone of the impulse engines died away. She took a deep breath and then crawled out. “Okay chief impulse engines done. All they need to do now is to activate the warp drive.” (Reply Jordan) (Reply Jordan, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Jefferies Tube 21-D, Section 4 – Marine, Cprl Lewis O'Hara - 16:16) Moving through the internal bulkheads of the Engineering section, O'Hara paused and slunk back against a nearby support beam, then he drew his pack from his shoulder and opened it up to reveal the concussion stun charges, each one flashing a green light with a readout showing 1:00 on it's display. By now of course, his partner in crime, Houseman should more or less be in position with his rifle cross hairs centred upon a Ferengi skull. Not that it was his intent to kill said Ferengi of course, but more because doing so was all part of the Sniper's need to set up a head shot before anything else. The plan was that O'Hara's stun charges would incapacitate anyone in Engineering long enough for Houseman to take the shot without them alerting anyone, but if they could take them alive, O'Hara had already counted Three, then that might be a plus. "OK then, let's get this show on the road", mused Lewis, more to himself than anyone else, before re-shouldering his pack and then continuing on. It wasn't long before he had reached the agreed positions for an optimal dispersion pattern, whereapon he opened up his pack once more in order to attach said charges in a four point pattern about Nine feet apart. Then he moved back to a safe distance before arming the devices and then beginning the sequential countdown. After that it was just a case of get the hell out of there or lose some eardrums. Lewis activated his internal Marine comms system and gave just one succinct announcement into the throat mounted speaker. "Houseman, you're on base man". And then he got the hell out... (Reply Houseman) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre – Main Engineering – Marine, Cprl Houseman - 16:18) Houseman squeezed himself quietly along the ventilation duct. He had moved through Jeffries tube and then into the ventilation ducts as he pushed his TR-116 rifle in front of him. There were times that using a phaser rifle would be good but there was also a risk that a stray shot could damage something important. He was an expert sniper and would hit what he aimed at but he was not so arrogant not to think that things can happen. To reduce any complications Houseman had taken non-lethal rounds. They would slam into the target transferring the large amount of kinetic energy to knock the target over. He would knock a person unconcise with a head shot and not damage anything else. He moved himself into position over the ventilation hatch high in the main engineering celling. He looked down on deck below and spotted the armed farengi moving around as he glanced as his wrist chrono as it counted down. ~Just in time~ He placed the rifle butt hard into his shoulder and looked through the scope. He aimed it on the top of the head of a farengi standing beside the warp core. ~Okay O’Hara your turn~ (Reply O’Hara, Reed) (Reply O’Hara, Reed, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Main Engineering – Marine Sniper, Cprl Houseman - 16:21) =^=Houseman, you're on base man=^= He smiled to himself at O’Hara’s comment. ~Okay lets go~ “Roger starting now.” His eyes flicked to his helmet seal to make sure that he would not get gassed as well before looking back down his scope. The three Ferengi in engineering were with in his view. One was by the warp core, the second was standing beside the main engineering control and the third was standing near the main entrance. He moved the cross hairs to the Ferengi by the door this was the more complicated shot. ~Go~ He steadied himself and breathed out and pulled the trigger. The rifle kicked into his shoulder. ~One~ He was moving to the second Ferengi by the engineering console as he turned towards the Ferengi by the main door. He fired again before the second Ferengi could shout out. ~Two~ As he fell to the ground Houseman moved the cross hires to the last Ferengi who had begun to move away from the warp core toward his downed colleagues his weapon came up as he to point it at the engineering crew who were crowed in one corner. He fired once more and he saw the Ferengi fall. ~Three~ He scanned the downed Ferengi again just to make sure before he activated his comm. ~Good they are still breathing~ “Lewis. They are down and breathing. It’s clear for you to breach.” (Reply O’Hara) (Reply O’Hara, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Rome - Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 16:55) =/\=Ensign Sorenson to the Bridge=/\= The Captain paused as the communication came in, hoping now that the modified torpedo he'd requested earlier was now ready to go. "Go ahead Ensign" =/\=Sir the torpedo is loaded and the calculations are done. As soon as Lieutenant Palmer finishes up the probe is good for launch=/\= "Well done Ensign. Have the modifications affected any of the other systems at all?", he asked, knowing now that it was likely to be the case, given the extent of the tinkering to the torpedo systems themselves. =/\=The probe doesn't have any guidance control, Sir. It'll be a straight shot, and the only one we've got=/\= "Understood", said the Captain. "Then we had better make that one shot count", he added, before the comms closed and he returned to the task he had been engaged in beforehand. Namely getting the Rome ready to launch... (Reply None, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Rome - Bridge - TAC/ASC, Ensign Michael Sorenson - 17:43) Michael walked onto the bridge. He walked over to the console that the torpedo's functions were rerouted to. After a few minutes of silent tinkering he had the final calculations done. He looked up. "Sir, the torpedo is ready. All calculations are done and it is ready for launch." (Reply T'Vhor) "No, sir. Once we launch its out of my hands. But the calculations are sound, we'll find your ship." (Reply T'Vhor) Michael nodded. "Aye sir." (Reply T'Vhor) (Posted by Brandon) (USS Rome - Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 17:44) The CO made notice of the recently arrived Ensign coming onto the bridge as he headed for the Tactical console. The man looked pensive, but then, as a new officer under his command it was likely that being thrown in at the deep end so to speak had thrown him off balance somewhat. Nonetheless, he appeared capable enough. "Sir, the torpedo is ready. All calculations are done and it is ready for launch.", said the Ensign, looking now directly at the viewscreen ahead. "Very good Ensign. Lieutenant Palmer mentioned the lack of guidance, do we have any control at all once we launch?", asked T'Vhor. "No, sir. Once we launch its out of my hands. But the calculations are sound, we'll find your ship", answered Sorenson. "Our ship", corrected the Captain. "You are a member of the Spectre's crew now, Ensign. She's as much yours as she is mine" The Ensign nodded accordingly. "Aye sir". (Reply None, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Rome - Science Lab - CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams – 18:05) "Though I wouldn't wish that on this crew." Andrew nodded. “I guess getting someone to volunteer to be infected is a tall ask.” "Ok then, why don't you finish going through that data, and I'll bring up our current scanning algorithm." Palmer tapped on his console. "We can compare and see what we can do to tighten things up." Andrew gave him a small smile as his finger moved across the console. “Way ahead of you.” "I'll have to multitask, and also go through the bridge sensor readings when this probe launches. Luckily I can access those from here though." Andrew saw him grinned "I'd much rather have this than run around with a phaser rifle though." Andrew smiled back. “Hay I am just a doctor. Give me a multiple trauma any day.” (Reply Palmer) He finally got through the data most he already knew but he needed to be sure. He read through the last of it before looking back at Palmer. “Okay Kurt. Here is what I have got?” (Reply Palmer) “Okay let’s see what how your algorithm compares” (Reply Palmer) (Reply, Palmer, any) (Post by Robbie) (USS Rome - Science Lab - CSO, LT.jg Kurt Palmer – 18:08) “Hay I am just a doctor. Give me a multiple trauma any day.” Replied the doctor. Kurt chuckled, as he connected to the bridge sensor control. The two absorbed themselves in their consoles for a few moments before the doctor spoke up. “Okay Kurt. Here is what I have got?” He looked over as the final lines loaded on his terminal. “Okay let’s see what how your algorithm compares” Kurt put a hand on his chin as he glanced at the data. "Here." Kurt said after a second. He pointed at a line on the doctor's screen. "If we invert the e-m frequency capacitors, that should clear some of this background noise from the internal scans." He pointed at a corresponding line on his screen. (Reply, Williams) "Though, I'm just speculating here." (Reply, Williams, any) ((Post by Cody)) (USS Rome - Science Lab - CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams – 18:12) "If we invert the e-m frequency capacitors, that should clear some of this background noise from the internal scans." Andrew watched as Palmer indicated the information on his screen. He looked at both screens comparing the information on both. “That looks like it might reduce it a bit.” "Though, I'm just speculating here." Andrew stared at the data an idea forming in his mind. “As you know this is not my best area of expertise.” He imputed a few quick commands. “Along with inverting the e-m frequency capacitators, if we also ramp up the parasitic detection portion of the biofilters as well as infection markers but it will reduce the scan radius which will take longer to find the parasites.” (Reply Palmer) He gave a quick sigh. “Well we can at least get this into the system and ready to be used but we can simulate it from here to high water but we won’t know until we actually have an infected patient.” (Reply, Palmer, any) (Post by Robbie) (USS Rome - Science Lab - CSO, LT.jg Kurt Palmer – 18:15) Dr. Williams inputed a few quick commands. “Along with inverting the e-m frequency capacitators, if we also ramp up the parasitic detection portion of the biofilters as well as infection markers but it will reduce the scan radius which will take longer to find the parasites.” "That could be a potential risk- we may want to get the captain's thoughts before we implement all this." Williams sighed. “Well we can at least get this into the system and ready to be used but we can simulate it from here to high water but we won’t know until we actually have an infected patient.” "And hopefully it doesn't come to that." Kurt added, swiveling to his screen for a moment to input a few commands. (Reply, Williams) Before they could get to work, the science terminals lit up with warnings. ~Damnit. What now.~ He turned back to the doctor. "Is your screen registering what mine is?" (Reply, Williams, any) ((Post by Cody)) (USS Rome – Main Engineering – ACEO, Ens Walker Markell - 18:16) Walker had things in hand rather quickly with the EPS repairs. The plasma feeds were all cinched off from the warp core do to a combination of software bugs and misaligned EPS junction feeds. It was tricky work to be sure, but after about 30 minutes he was ready to initiate the plasma feed into the warp core mixture. "There...I think its ready." continued Markell. (Reply Alexander) "Nope..." Walker started as he took another bite from his rations kit, "...once the flow starts the EPS regular should adjust flow as its requested by the warp input manifold." (Reply Alexander) "Okay...its looking good...all withing design parameters. Diagnostics check out. I'll let you inform the bridge." (Reply Alexander) (Posted by Gavin) (USS Rome – Main Engineering – Ops, Ens Will Alexander - 18:17) The young Ensign was efficient, Will was pleased, it was making his job easier. Will was fretting over getting the fix done, and the new engineer new exactly what to do, thought the work took time. "Do you expect any problems getting up to maximum warp?" Will asked "Nope..." Walker started as he took another bite from his rations kit, "...once the flow starts the EPS regular should adjust flow as its requested by the warp input manifold." "So are we good to go?" Will asked further "Okay...its looking good...all withing design parameters. Diagnostics check out. I'll let you inform the bridge." "Alexander to Bridge," Will said tapping his commbadge. (Reply T'Vhor) "Sir looks like the issue is resolved we should be able to hit maximum warp now." (Reply T'Vhor) "Sir, we are going to wrap somethings up down here, and then meet you on the bridge. We should be able to handle engineering from the bridge console, and I feel like I could be of more use at the helm then down in engineering." (reply T'Vhor) "Aye sir." Will then turned to Markell. "Ensign lets tidy up down here and then head up to the bridge." (reply Markell) Will then walked over to a console to pick up some stray tools when he heard a whirring noise. It sounded familiar, he knew he needed to get away. In all the hustle to get things going, they overlooked a small device attached at one of the consoles bases. It wasn't going to break the console, or do any damage to the warp core. Just a small motion device, emitting a concussive blast, and Will gave it just the right amount of motion, before he could even move he was thrown the air and slammed to the grown hitting his head hard. He was alive, but loopy, and beginning to lose his grip on consciousness. (reply Markell) (reply T'Vhor, Markell) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Rome - Science Lab – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams – 18:18) "And hopefully it doesn't come to that." Said Palmer Andrew nodded. “Me too. Testing on patient even if they volunteer is still a bad way to go.” Andrew looked over as the science terminals lit up with warnings. ~What!~ He saw Palmer looked at him. "Is your screen registering what mine is?" Andrew looked back and saw that his console was also sending out an alarm. “Yes it is.” He gave a sigh and began to enter commands into his console. “This does not make sense. Why is the computer gone nuts it’s a not like we are working on a live sample.” (Reply Palmer) He stared at the computer scream and the information began changing. “Ow great. It looks like some sort of purge program has been activated.” He cursed under his breath. “Dam it I should have thought about that. The Parasite had control of the starbase of course it would have place computer programs in its systems to hunt for data the related to its own destruction.” The console flashed another alarm. “Kurt can we dump the remaining data into a device that is not connected to the system? Otherwise I hope you have a photographic memory?” (Reply Palmer) (Reply, Palmer, any) (Post by Robbie) (USS Rome – Main Engineering – CO, Captain T'Vhor - 18:19) The Rome had been underway now for around 40 minutes, and although they could follow the trail of the Spectre to a degree and extrapolate likely headings, they were still no nearer to finding her. It wasn't helping of course that they were restricted to a lower warp and the time delay between when she took off, and the Rome gave pursuit. The Captain however did have one ace up his sleeve that the Ferengi Daimon would not know of, but for now anyway, that was need to know. The chirp of the comm system coming to life broke the Vulcan hybrid from his thoughts just briefly, the Ops officer, Alexander from engineering who would perhaps herald a little good news =/\=Alexander to Bridge=/\= "Go ahead Ensign" =/\=Sir looks like the issue is resolved we should be able to hit maximum warp now.=/\= "Excellent news", said the Captain, "good work" =/\=Sir, we are going to wrap some things up down here and then meet you on the bridge. We should be able to handle engineering from the bridge console, and I feel like I could be of more use at the helm than down in engineering.=/\= T'Vhor nodded to no one in particular, and then asked Alexander to bring Markell up as well to man the station. It would be a good test of the man's mettle under pressure, as if he needed anymore after dodging Ferengi insurgents that was... Alexander signed off and the Captain then instructed the helmsman to increase speed to maximum warp, a little more confident now of their chances to intercept their stolen vessel. (Reply None, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Rome - Science Lab - CSO, LT.jg Kurt Palmer – 18:21) “This does not make sense. Why is the computer gone nuts it’s a not like we are working on a live sample.” Said the doctor frantically pressing controls Kurt turned back to his console. "It looks like I'm locked out over here.." “Ow great. It looks like some sort of purge program has been activated." The doctor replied immersed in his screen “Dam it I should have thought about that. The Parasite had control of the starbase of course it would have place computer programs in its systems to hunt for data the related to its own destruction.” The console lit up again. “Kurt can we dump the remaining data into a device that is not connected to the system? Otherwise I hope you have a photographic memory?” ~the one time I left the pile of PADDs somewhere else.~ "Hold on" Kurt replied as he moved to his feet. He quickly glanced around the room. There had to be a storage locker somewhere. ~Where is everything!?!~ He moved around the center controls, looking high and low for a PADD, a tricorder, anything. (NRPG: feel free to reply wherever) It wasn't fun to have a sudden emergency in an unfamiliar space, especially when the whole crew's safety hung in the balance. He wasn't sure why,but Kurt ran to the door and poked his head through. ~someone, someone has to have...~ "Crewman!" He shouted to an unfamiliar officer passing through just in the knick of time. The gold-clad officer looked up, confused. Kurt stepped towards him, snatching the PADD from his hand. "I'm so sorry, we need to. Borrow this!" He called as he ran back to the lab. (Reply, Williams, any) ((Post by Cody)) (USS Rome - Science Lab - CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams – 18:24) Andrew watched as Palmer got up from his seat and began to search the lab before dashing from the room. “Hope he’s not going for the tea break?” He looked at the screen with his finger dancing across the console in front of him. ~Come on. I just need to keep one step ahead~ The door open and Palmer dashed back in with a PADD in his hand. “Okay Kurt. I will begin up load to the PADD.” He entered the last command. “Now.” Andrew watched as the percentage icon crawled across the screen. ~Come on, Come on~ The icon changed showing that the information had been transferred. “That’s it.” Andrew sighed and leaned back on his chair as he looked over at Palmer. “How much did we get?” (Reply Palmer) Andrew nodded. “Where did you get the PADD from?” (Reply Palmer) (Reply Palmer, any) (Posted by Robbie) =================================================================
