Are we gonna abandon the repair of the hospital to take care of this current finding?" asked the First Officer. "Absolutely not lieutenant. Other officer's will be moving things along at the hospital and will be coordinating with the Colorian government," the Captain explained. "I have something to add," Ensign Romanoff spoke up. "Yes ensign, what is it?" Calvin asked. "Earlier today, or yesterday there was something that happened in the Computer Core room with the Colorans that boarded the ship. I was ordered out of the room while the transfer took place. Don't get me wrong, there was a security officer in the room with them but they insisted that I leave the room. So I have no idea what transpired." Nickolas paused because he hoped the quietness of the room would alleviate whatever would come out of the commands mouth. "I know I should have said something sooner, but I didn't think anything of it at the time " Calvin heard the news and it was a shock to him. But he was happy to hear that one of his security officer's was present for the transfer though. Just in case the Captain took the extra step. He turned to Lt. Rinn. "Lieutenant have your department run a complete check on the computer systems to see if anything was accessed that the Colorians didn't have the privilege to do so." (reply Rinn) After a quick reply from the operations officer the Captain looked around the room. It seemed that everyone had said what they needed to say. "Meet you all at transporter room 1 at 0700. Dismissed." (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Boudicca - Observation Room - COPS Lieutenant Deynyk Rinn - 0354) As the captain made it clear that the rescue operations at the hospital would continue as planned even while the Teravere was under investigation, Deynyk couldn't help but consider the possibility that the gas might spread as far as the capital city. If the gas was the original cause of the zombie-like state of the colonists in the city to begin with, it wasn't beyond the realm of the possible for the gas to once again reach the city and start a new outbreak of erratic and destructive behavior. He added a note to his orders for his department to add some micro field shield generators to the supply and berthing depot. If time permitted, he'd have them placed around the hospital and depot, so that they could be activated long enough to evacuate everyone from those two areas to the Boudicca. He also added a generous helping of transporter pattern enhancers to make it possible to beam people out in the event that the shields had to be implemented. With the mobile power generators on the planet running the twenty shield generators, the survivors would have only three hours of power to beam out of the recovery center. It would be very close if it came down to it, but it was better than what they had without the shields, which was no time at all. Deynyk looked up from his PADD in time to hear Romanoff comment on the fact that some Coloran security personnel had accessed the ship's computer. Needless to say, granting access to the Boudicca's computer core to any foreign power was generally not an acceptable action. As such, Deynyk was not surprised when the captain gave his next order. "Lieutenant have your department run a complete check on the computer systems to see if anything was accessed that the Colorians didn't have the privilege to do so." Dey nodded, "Aye captain. I'll have the staff go over every line of restricted code first, then extend the search to the non-restricted material. I'll have them begin with command-and-control systems and move to less intrusive areas as they search." One more series of commands into his PADD sent word to the operations department to scour the ship's computer core with the dedication and determination that he knew hay possessed. (POSTED Daniel Greene (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - TAC/S LT(JG) Detron Trei - 04.15) He went to seek the counseling of Caspian before going down to the surface of Color II. He felt the need to clear his mind of the concern over what the Traverse gas was going to do to him and make him do on the crew of the Boudicca. Since he is a Klingon and the gas has caused psychotic episodes resulting in mass injuries. He was concerned that would happen here. He approached Dr. Caspian and asked for her counsel. "Dr. Caspian. I wish to discuss concerns over the gas and the effect it will have on me. I am also concerned with the danger I pose to the crew." (Posted by Edward) (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - Councilor Ensign(jg) Elizabeth Caspian, Dr. - 0423) It took all that Lizzy was to stay awake during the briefing. She knew she never would of made the briefing if it wasn't for Mia making sure that Elizabeth got up and made the meeting on time. Such was life after Lizzy anchored an others spiritual energies. Now the meeting was over and Lizzy was in medical training some of the newer nurses on setting the medical tricorders to sense the Teraverre when she heard a voice call out behind her. "Dr. Caspian. I wish to discuss concerns over the gas and the effect it will have on me. I am also concerned with the danger I pose to the crew." Lizzy turned to see Lt. Trei "Sir, I know Klingon's have had experience with Teraverre and from what I gather the effects of the gas are ghastly but you are not only Klingon but also Betazoid. Remember Lt. Trei no matter if you are Human, Colorian, or Klingon the Teraverre will effect all the same way. That's the thing about chemical weapons the effect with out care who or what you are. You are no more a hazard or risk than anyone else on the away team myself included on that. No if you have no more questions I'll let you get back to your preparations." There were certain a lot to go through before the top of the hour. He also needed to make sure that he kept enough time a side to get inside of the special suit his Chief of Operations was getting together. Suddenly his ready room chime sounded. "Enter." A tall officer entered the room. An officer that the Captain did not pinpoint right away. He looked on the uniform for any signs that could identify the officer. Except for the ensign junior grade pips there were none. "Yes ensign, how can I help you?" (posted by Calvin Capps) (U.S.S. Boudicca - Ready Room - ENSIGN Carter Anderson - 0606) Anderson stood at attention. "Ensign Carter Anderson, reporting for duty, sir. I was just assigned to the Boudicca." Anderson said. He was excited, scared and thrilled to be on a new ship. He wanted to ask the Captain straight up if he would be able to contact his sister from time to time to check on her. He stood there quietly as he waited. (Posted By Brett Goodson) (USS Boudicca - Ready Room - CO Captain Calvin Capps - 0607) "Ensign Carter Anderson, reporting for duty, sir. I was just assigned to the Boudicca." Anderson said. ~Reporting for duty?~ the Captain thought. He didn't remember any reports on new officers be received. Quickly he went through his logs and found an unread message containing not one but two new officers. Ensign Anderson was one of them. The Captain smiled, "Welcome aboard Ensign Anderson. You have arrived moments before the senior team will be going on an away mission. I would like for you to join us. Report to security right away. I will send the necessary orders down for you to join the away team. To keep the briefing short we have found a dangerous nerve agent known as Teravere. We will be going planet side to investigate. Any questions? (posted by Calvin) (USS Boudicca - Ready Room - ENS Carter Anderson - 0608) "No, sir. I am ready to take on any mission that need assistance, sir." Carter said. Of course, deep inside he wasn't really, but he knew it was his duty to do so. He thought about his academy training and remembered a few words his old instructor said a few years back. (Posted By Brett Goodson) [Transwarp Shuttle - Enroute to USS Boudicca - Ens (jg) Harvey Armstrong - Past 20 hours] After defeating the Beast on Color II, the Boudicca would stay and help the Colorians bring life back to their colony world. Their main mission would include: to help Color II bring safety back to the public by any means necessary and to the best of their ability return back to normal living. This goal will have many objectives such as: reinstating the local security force, coming up with what to do with the undead still roaming, ensuring no further spreading of the disease, reinstate the government, and bring the infrastructure of the colony world back to working order. In the middle of the night the Boudicca's sensors picked up a rare and dangerous nerve agent known as Teravere. Teravere is an engineered nerve agent created by the Klingons more than a century ago. It was found to be so lethal even the Klingons decided to never use it again. The Boudicca's crew has been tasked with deploying an away mission to the surface and to investigate and secure the Teravere. Harvey still could not believe his luck. His attendance in the Academy had been all about seeking revenge for his family’s untimely demise. He wanted revenge. If the truth were to come to fruition, not that counselors hadn’t touched on that little nugget over and over, the revelation may have cost him his shot at his goals. His long flight out to the USS Boudicca had given him hours to think over his assignment. Science. He had spent four years studying Tactical and all things security. Now he was going to Science. He shrugged and smiled one could never truly get away from the long arm of family. At least his grandmother would be excited. She carried Doctorates in Atmospheric Variances in Sub-temperate climates, A Doctorate in Applied Oceanic Mammal Geneometry and several other award winning degrees. His Grandfather was no different focusing mostly on Continental Plate Tectonics and their affect on coastal regions coupled with deep sea life of all types. He had spent the past few years working on new ways to up-breed various species of fish for Federation consumption and as raw material for replicators. Harvey had grown up on and around the ocean learning from his grandparents and studying in hands on application of both Meteorology and Marine Biology. Science had been his background, the Indian Ocean and specifically the tidal zones surrounding Port Elizabeth, South Africa his playground. All of that had come crashing to an end as his father, a Hydrologist/Geologist assigned to Mars Colony had been caught up in a Civil War he could not escape with his life. His mother too had lost her life due to complications arising from injuries she had sustained trying to escape under a flag of truce. She died in Port Elizabeth, Harvey holding her hand as she passed. These formed the injustices that Harvey held as the core of his whole being, his life’s work, justice and peace. He immediately had left university twelve hours shy of his Masters and joined the Fleet. He came with vengeance and the smarts to learn quickly his new trade. He was nowhere near as physical as the other Security Specialists he had trained with. He was always cold. He was strong but it was a trained strength, not the natural brute force of most Tactical Trained Cadets. He was sharp and learned from his instructors utilizing his intelligence to find ways to augment his lack of physical prowess. All of that was for naught. He was going ‘home’ to Sciences aboard the USS Boudicca. One thing he had learned in the Academy was to salute, smile and move out with purpose, it kept you out of trouble and extra physical conditioning. He also learned that he could swim circles about most of his peers, water was Harvey’s ally. [USS Boudicca - Bridge - Ens (jg) Harvey Armstrong - 06:20] Several hours earlier Harvey Armstrong had arrived on board the USS Boudicca. The ship seemed to be in a state of high alert and crisis. The crew were investigating a reported Bio-Weapon release and several other issues compounded the problems. Harvey tried hard to catch up through various declassified reports but needed more. As luck would have his thoughts were coalescing into reality. He had been decided to report to the First Officer in order to become more involved with the current situation. Assuming the FO was most likely on the Bridge he reported there. As Harvey exited the Turbolift he surveyed the Bridge and made his way to the apparent duty officer. "I am Ensign Harvey Armstrong, Sciences, can you point me in the direction of Lieutenant Jacobs or the duty officer so that I might get caught up and begin to assist in some way with the current crisis?" it was naive but he was brand new so he decided it could work to his benefit. "Lieutenant Jacobs is currently readying himself with our away mission which will be executed within the hour. I suggest you see the Captain in his ready room immediately." Harvey glanced towards the Operations Officer, "Thank you Lieutenant. I will do just that," he said and made his way to the Ready Room hatch. The Bridge seemed orderly. He glanced towards the Tactical Station, a place that seemed more fitting for his training. He smiled to himself. ~Perhaps one day Armstrong...but not today. Defend them with your brain not your brawn,~ he thought to himself. "Anytime Ensign Armstong," she said before she watched the man walk away toward the ready room door. Armstrong keyed the entry chime as he approached the hatch. He waited for the reply of the Captain before he dared enter. He announced himself as the chime sounded so that the computer would properly identify him to the Captain within. "Ensign Harvey Armstrong to see you sir," he stated and then tightened himself up a bit, first impressions were everything. (Written by Andy Collette) (USS Boudicca - Ready Room - CO Captain Calvin Capps - 0626) Because of his new tactical officer he stumbled on that he would soon have another new officer reporting in. When he heard the chime go off he was 90 percent sure he knew who it was. "Enter," the Captain commanded the computer to open the doors. An officer walked into the room and stood in the middle of the room on the other side of the Captain's desk. (reply Armstrong) "At ease Ensign and welcome to the Boudicca. Now normally I would offer you a seat, a piece of candy, and a little small talk but an away team will be leaving in search for a dangerous nerve agent known as Teravere. I understand that you have a significant amount of training in security and tactical. I am sure that those attributes will become useful some day, but I am happy to see that you have agreed to take up station in Science. We are dealing with a nerve agent that I feel your expertise will help us be successful today. I want you to accompany us on the away mission to Color II. Harvey made his way to the forint of the Captain’s desk. He purposefully straightened himself up as he took the proffered position in front of the chair. He stole a glance over the room for any clues as to the man before him. The glance did not last long as the Captain seemed to get right to the point of the meeting. Harvey decided to remain all business, it seemed the way of things about the Boudicca thus far, “Sir I am Ensign Harvey Armstrong newly arrived onboard and reporting to assist in any way I might be able too sir.” "At ease Ensign and welcome to the Boudicca. To the point, precisely as Harvey thought, ‘Sir, has the bio-weapon been deployed or are we dealing with raw material that could be developed into a bio-weapon?” “As I am new to this duty assignment, how are the indigenous personnel treating the Federation, are they allied, indifferent or hostile?” Harvey asked perhaps more of his Tactical training coming out than his scientific mind. “Is Teravere a known weapon? What are some of the instances it has been deployed in the past and how is it threatening the people of Color II?” Harvey further inquired. Then he asked the question he did not want too, “Sir is there a known cure for the weaponized material and what are its affects on exposed victims. You have stated already we need protective equipment, are the Colorians immune?” (Written by Andy Collette) (USS Boudicca - Ready Room - CO Captain Calvin Capps - 0632) To the point, precisely as Harvey thought, ‘Sir, has the bio-weapon been deployed or are we dealing with raw material that could be developed into a bio-weapon?” "Teravere is not natural at all. It was developed over a century ago by the Klingon's. It was used only once on a global scale and even to the Klingon's it was determined too dangerous for use. Where ever this Teravere is coming from it is sure to have someone behind it. As far as we can prove it has not been deployed yet. However, now knowing that Teravere is present on Color II it does give us suspicion that it could be the cause of the undead on Color II," the Captain explained. “As I am new to this duty assignment, how are the indigenous personnel treating the Federation, are they allied, indifferent or hostile?” Harvey asked perhaps more of his Tactical training coming out than his scientific mind. "Color II is part of the Federation. The Colorians have given absolute full cooperation while we have been here, but we are not forgetting the possible fact that a Colorian could be behind the Teravere." The Captain then thought about his new science officer. It was true that Ensign Armstrong was new to his duty assignment, but it shouldn't have stopped him to research Color II en route to the planet. “Is Teravere a known weapon? What are some of the instances it has been deployed in the past and how is it threatening the people of Color II?” Harvey further inquired. Then he asked the question he did not want too, “Sir is there a known cure for the weaponized material and what are its affects on exposed victims. You have stated already we need protective equipment, are the Colorians immune?” "Teravere has only been known on a global scale such as this once by the Klingon's over a century ago. And no, there is no known cure for Teravere. That was just one reason why it was determined to be part of the Federation's banned list," Captain Capps further explained. Captain Capps thought back to the terrible tragedy that transpired on Color II, and collected his thoughts. "No, the Colorians are more than likely not immune to Teravere. Before you arrived and less than a week ago a large population of Color II were turned into what some may call a zombie. The virus, which could be the Teravere, could then be passed on through open wounds likes bites or scratches. As far as we know the Teravere has never been used as airborne. We were able to control the spread of the virus by killing a very large beast that seemed to be controlling all those who were infected. After that we have been helping the Colorians secure their land and rebuild their colony and then last night our sensors picked up the Teravere. You can read a complete report in the computer for further information." (reply Armstrong) "We have Starfleet Corps of Engineers and a dedicated medical Starship en route as we speak to finish here. The Boudicca will then be able to continue with its next mission. Is there anything further?" The Captain stood from his chair and walked from behind his desk and toward the door. "Now?" Armstrong ran through the long list of what he would like to bring, a whole science lab preferably but that simply wasn't practical. There was no time. The suit, a tricorder and a weapon if they were going armed, that would be the full extent, of what would accompany Harvey this time, but never again he thought. "Very well sir, I need to get to the main science lab and collect a few items. See you in the transporter room if I a may be dismissed?" he concluded looking anxiously at the door. (Written by Andy C) (Color II - Southern Region - CO Captain Calvin Capps - 0705) It took two separate transports to get the entire away team down to the planet. The Captain had never taken such a large away team for a mission like this before, but the rare nerve agent known as Teravere required it. As a former first officer he would have never recommended taking the first officer and the captain down to a possibly dangerous situation together. But the Captain was there now in that exact situation and he had to go through with it. The special suits Lt. Rinn setup were uncomfortable to say the least. The Captain thought he rather squeeze into his dress uniform before he had to wear this suit again. As much as he twisted in the suit he completely understood that this suit may very well save his or any of his team's life. The beam in point brought the away team exactly in the middle of a camp site. The same camp site that Lt. Trei and Lt. Black visited the day before. They had rescued Colorians from the make shift tents, and it was believed by some that those campers might have something to do with the Teravere. The Captain really hadn't come to a conclusion yet. Captain Capps spoke up giving his first orders, "Search the tents for any signs that the former campers here were involved with the Teravere in any way. Also scan for any signs of the Teravere. See if there is an originating point from the surface." (posted by Calvin Capps) (Color II - Southern Region - COPS Lieutenant Deynyk Rinn - 0708) Deynyk for all his seeming bravery and lucky-may-go attitude had one thing that he was seriously afraid of in his life. It was the prospect of inhaling a poisonous gas or microbial life that would kill him. He could handle heights, weapons fire, fire, combat or any other number of things, but poisonous gases and microbes were the one thing that made him feel somewhat helpless in the face of the universe. So despite the uncomfortable nature of the modified hazmat suits, Deynyk couldn't help but feel the ever-present concern that just beyond the 3 millimeter skin of the suit lurked a deadly nerve gas that was just dying to get into his suit and make him a victim. The rebreather seemed to be doing it's job well enough. The constant in-and-out hiss of the air as it was pumped through the biofilters and the sterilization filed added an almost surreal aspect to the search. The empty tents and remains of a once active campsite lent it's own aspects of dread to the expedition as well. Some of the tents had collapsed under gusts of wind, but most remained upright and stalwart in their positions. They were for the most part lined up in a parallel line of single file ranks. They almost looked like soldiers in formation awaiting an inspection. The scenario was easy to surmise. campers, wishing to escape the terror in the city had taken what equipment that possessed and headed for the country side where the chances of casual contagion was significantly lessened. They had some equipment that was top-end, but the rest seemed to be cobbled together from whatever materials where on hand at the time. The distance of nearly fifty kilometers from the main city meant that they had walked some significant distance carrying fairly heavy loads, of they had come from an area much closer than the large capital city. A distinct lack of vehicle significantly reduced the potential distance from which they had begun their trek, although a determined group of people could have made a significant journey with the proper motivation. Deynyk knew no better motivation that the survival instinct. "Search the tents for any signs that the former campers here were involved with the Teravere in any way. Also scan for any signs of the Teravere. See if there is an originating point from the surface." Deynyk nodded and toggled on his suit's Public areas speakers. "Aye sir. I'll perform a spiral search pattern and see if I can map out Teravere concentrations. I'd also like to set up some of the meteorological equipment that I brought to help us determine prevalent weather patterns that could affect the spread of the gas." (reply Capps iyw) Deynyk turned to the newest member of the crew. Ensign Anderson, the assistant Security chief. "Mister Anderson, would you mind accompanying me? I'd prefer to have a security escort while I carry out my work if possible." (Posted by Daniel Greene) (Color II - Southern Region - ENSIGN Carter Anderson - 0709) Anderson looked at LT Rinn and nodded. "I'll be more then happy to assist, sir." He said. He never really knew he was going to be thrown into a mission right off the bat, but he studied for this and went through countless simulations back at the academy. He was ready. "If you don't mind me asking, what's the M.O.?" He asked. (TAG Rinn, any) (Posted By Brett Goodson) (Color II - Southern Region - TAC/S LT(JG) Detron Trei - 07.10) He materialized in a area with several tents still upright. He walked a few steps to get used to the Bio Suit it felt mostly like wearing a rubber wetsuit with twice the weight and just as impeding. Rinn asked for a Security escort . ENS Anderson was the closest to him to respond but he offered to volunteer anyway. "If ENS Anderson is not ready, I will volunteer my myself for the job sir." (Posted by Edward) (Color II - Southern Region - CO Captain Calvin Capps - 0712) As all the other officers walked through out the camp looking for any clues the Captain heard his new medical officer Emily. "Do we have an inventory of what was kept in these tents?" Before the Captain walked over to the tent Ensign Star was located he looked over to Lt. Trei. "Lieutenant, with me." (reply Trei) When Detron caught up the Captain walked inside of the tent that held Emily. He grabbed his tricorder from it's holster and began to scan within a 3 meter area. About the size of the tent. "No Ensign, we do not have a complete inventory. We do know that when the inhabitants left this area they did take items with them. They could have concealed certain cargo with them. All of their luggage is currently being checked." (reply Star) Suddenly a warning beep from the Captain's tricorder warned everyone within earshot that something was found. (reply Trei, Star) "It would seem there are small trace amounts of Teravere underneath this tent. We need to move everything out of this tent now." (reply Trei, Star) As the officers worked on emptying the tent the Captain stepped out to get the attention of the rest of the away team. "Away team we believe we have found something. Come to our location." (reply all) It didn't take too long for everyone to meet at the tent. By the time everyone arrived the tent had been emptied. "Okay we need to strike these tents carefully. My tricorder is picking up small traces of Teravere underneath. Mr. Armstrong do you have any suggestions?" (reply Armstrong) "I agree lets get started," the Captain ordered. (posted by Calvin Capps) (Color II - Southern Region - TAC/S LT(JG) Detron Trei - 07.15) He heard the order from Capps to come with him. He caught up to him at one of the tents . He heard the warning beep from Capps's tricorder indicating that the gas was detected. He then proceeded to clear the tent of objects. He agreed with the notion of poking around will cause the gas to spread rapidly . He thought for a moment since Capps was asking for suggestions. He might have an idea to track the gas. "Sir. This might work to track the gas visually. We could deploy a luminous ionization agent that will bond to the gas giving it a luminous glow. Then we can see where the gas is escaping and track the source of the escaping gas. This will allow us to better contain the problem." (Posted by Edward) (Color II - Southern Region - CO Captain Calvin Capps - 0716) "Sir. This might work to track the gas visually. Ready any material you need and standby to deploy when the rest of the away team is ready," the Captain responded to Detron's suggestion. (Color II - Southern Region - Science Ens jg Harvey Armstrong - 0720) As the officers worked on emptying the tent the Captain stepped out to get the attention of the rest of the away team. "Away team we believe we have found something. Come to our location." Armstrong instinctively shot a fast look in the direction of the Captain and his heart stopped, sweat formed on his brow almost instantly though he felt cold. Immediately he thought of the added danger of the captain ‘wandering’ around in a space that might be ‘hot’. He stayed quiet ~ Captains did not get that way without taking chances it was just hard for a new recruit to think outside the rules. The captain probably shouldn’t even be on the planet truth be told~ Harvey thought almost loud enough to be heard. Harvey carefully made his way over to the site. He scanned as he walked. He was careful to conduct full intense scans for all the detectable materials the tricorder could handle at once. He wished he had a more complete scientific workstation. ~Note to self, get with Ops and Engineering and develop a man-portable work station.~ “I recommend we all step out of the area carefully and rally outside the tent near the captain so that we do not further disturb whatever the Captain has identified. Is it the Teravere, sir?” Harvey asked, his tricorder had not detected the sample as of yet. It didn't take too long for everyone to meet at the tent. By the time everyone arrived the tent had been emptied. "Okay we need to strike these tents carefully. My tricorder is picking up small traces of Teravere underneath. Mr. Armstrong do you have any suggestions?" “Aye sir. It is my hope that we can carefully secure all of these shelters, as much of the organic material around them as possible and do so with extreme caution. There could very easily be a deployment device or similar apparatus located right here that is just waiting for us to start poking and prodding it. I also recommend that we take samples with our tricorders from different directions accounting for wind variables as well as atmospheric conditions, we need to see if the Teravere is airborne, static or dormant.” Harvey slowed himself a little, too much was happening too fast. “Safety first, I would like everyone to scan one another in pairs, let’s insure that what we have contacted already is not attacking our suits or clinging to them. We certainly do not want to track this stuff back on the Boudicca. Then we can begin a very thorough investigation of the shelters and the general area working in pairs.” "I agree let’s get started," the Captain ordered. Taking the lead a little as the head science officer on the Away Team, Harvey took a few steps towards the tent which had provoked the Captain’s Tricorder. He confirmed the presence of the Teravere with his own tircorder. He then looked at the foliage around the tents. The wind was barely detectable he moved downwind from the tents to see if the tricorder was still picking up traces of the chemical. He wanted to identify its mode of deployment and travel. If it was airborne the whole planet could be in danger. If it was centralized it lessened the immediate impact of this detected sample, he had to know. “Everyone, please state your discoveries as you find them so that we can eliminate as much duplication as possible. And by all means, be careful where you step and what you move.” (Written by Andy Collette) (Color II - Southern Region - COPS Lieutenant Deynyk Rinn - 0722) With the captain's permission Deynyk had asked Anderson to provide some security for him as he made his circular route planting the small sensors that would record the meteorological data that would be needed to monitor the spread of the Teravere. Deynyk and the crew needed to know if this vile gas could pose a threat to the refugee population of the city on the other side of the planet. The molecular stability of Teravere was well known and was stable enough to remain a viable compound for decades without disintegrating. Anderson was apparently a cheerful fellow. Having not had much time to get to know any of the new arrivals Deynyk was happy to see that Anderson responded with a positive "I'll be more than happy to assist sir!" Lieutenant Trei had also offered to join them, but at this point the captain called the Klingon over to assist with another task. They started their cycle, spiraling outwards placing the sensors in an expanding pattern that would more accurately allow data collection. They had just placed the third sensor when Anderson, still alert to possible trouble asked, "If you don't mind me asking, what's the M.O.?" Deynyk paused for a moment, trying to figure out what MO stood for but not being familiar with the term and unable to really discern the meaning from context, The Joined Trill officer stopped and regarded his companion. "MO?" he inquired, ""I have no idea what that means?" (reply Anderson) "Ah. Interesting term." Deynyk replied with a nod. "We'll I'm an operations officer so at present I am most concerned with the logistics that will affected by this buildup of Teravere. My MO, as you put it will be to collect data on molecular concentrations, movement patterns and ambient weather patterns to try to predict the path of the spread of the gas cloud. This sensor grid will help us to more accurately measure all those things. The Boudicca's computers can collect the data and produce projections and generate a timeline. In this way we can determine if we need to relocate the refugees and if so how quickly. As they spoke, Deynyk and Anderson continued to place the sensor relays. They had only managed to place about a dozen or so of them when the Captain began waving his arms and speaking to get their attention. "Away Team, we believe we have found something. Come to our location." The captain ordered. "Change of plans," Deynyk commented to Anderson and the two headed over to the tent that the captain had made the center of the investigation. The contents of the tent were already stacked around them by the time Deynyk and Anderson arrived. "Okay we need to strike these tents carefully. My tricorder is picking up small traces of Teravere underneath. Mr. Armstrong do you have any suggestions?" “Aye sir." Armstrong, one of the other new additions to the crew replied with confidence, " It is my hope that we can carefully secure all of these shelters, as much of the organic material around them as possible and do so with extreme caution. There could very easily be a deployment device or similar apparatus located right here that is just waiting for us to start poking and prodding it. We certainly do not want to track this stuff back on the Boudicca. Then we can begin a very thorough investigation of the shelters and the general area working in pairs.” "I agree let's get started," the Captain ordered. "Mister Armstrong," Deynyk interjected. "I have already begun deploying meteorological sensors in a spiral pattern. Ensign Anderson and I managed 10 units before we were called over. I have ten more we can deploy if needed." Deynyk closed the flap on the over-the-shoulder carrier that contained the microprobes and secured it. he then pulled out his tricorder and turned to his partner, Anderson. "I am showing some surface adhesion to the hazmat suit." he told Anderson, "but as long as the suit maintains its integrity you'll stay safe. Since normal decontamination techniques don't work well with Teravere, I made arrangements to have the suits and all materials filtered by the transporters when we return to the ship. the biofilters and the discriminators should be sensitive enough to removed any external molecules of Terravere." Deynyk raised his voice then. "Captain, I am reading concentration variations that are significantly unnatural. We seem to have a pressure spike of Teraverre here." Deynyk steeped forward a few feet , near one of the tents and using both his tricorder and the good old Mark I eyeball, managed to identify an invisible plume of Teravere that was escaping from below the surface. The pressure was enough to disturb several of the small ground plants nearby, making them ripple with the invisible current of escaping gas. It was obviously coming from below ground. "It's here!" he replied, "pointing with the thick lined finger of his hazmat suit. "I'm reading a compressed jet of gas, 638,385 parts per million. That's 60,000 times more concentrated than needed to affect a person." (POSTED BY Daniel Greene) (Color II - Southern Region - ENS Carter Anderson - 0723) Anderson blushed a bit in embarrassment. "Sorry, sir...I meant mission objectives. What do you need me to do to help?" Anderson explained. He spent too much time with marines during his childhood and his father use to use old terms when giving orders to his officers. He looked around at the planet they were on and saw most offers taking readings and setting down sensor arrays. (Posted Brett Goodson) (Color II - Southern Region - CO Captain Calvin Capps - 0724) "Captain, I am reading concentration variations that are significantly unnatural. "I'm reading a compressed jet of gas, 638,385 parts per million. That's 60,000 times more concentrated than needed to affect a person." "Continue to follow the buildup of pressure whilst the rest of the the equipment is setup. Also everyone continue to scan each other to ensure your hazmat suits are still working properly." The Captain knew that they needed to find the central point of the Teravere build up as soon as possible. But he also knew it was important for the away team to take it one step at a time as to not disturb the nerve agent (Color II - Southern Region -Ensign Emily Star - 0736) Without skipping a beat Jacobs retrieved his tricorder from the hip of his suit and began scanning one of the tents. It was as if someone had abandoned the tents in a hurry as there was evidence that someone had recently occupied them. His tricorder beeped in unison with the other tricorders in the area as it detected trace amounts of the Teravere covering everything that was compiled in front of him. He was also picking up evidence of the life signs of the people that were the tent's recent occupants. "Ensign Noble could you please assist me over here?" (reply Noble) "I needed another set of eyes to look at this with me, I am reading faint traces of the people that were here not too long ago, but I need the expertise of a medical genius to decipher some of the unfamiliar readings." he stated. Smiling as he talked to Ensign Noble. (reply Noble) "Ensign Star, three heads are better than two, could you assist us as well?" "A medical genius," She grinned, "I'm sure I could fill those shoes." Emily moved over with the others. He waited for the two of them to come over to him before he spoke again. Even then he did not have anything else to say as his eyes came across some crude cooking utensils that were buried among other things. With one hand no his tricorder Henry used his other to pick up a pot that seemed well seasoned. Being a self-declared chef himself, he had a great affinity for the many tools a cook would use to turn out great pieces of culinary art. There were minimal traces of food in the pot but just as the other objects the Teravere was present. The lieutenant understood how the Teravere was transmitted; by an open wound to the body. What intrigued him was the thought that the people that were once there may have been force fed some form of the virus, or even digested local wildlife that had been infected. "What do you two think? Is it possible for the virus to be inherited or transmitted by digestion? My tricorder is reading that the food that was cooked in this had trace amounts of Teravere in it. If that is the case that adds a lot to what we knew about the virus and how it moves from host to host." "I'd be more worried about whether it was intentional or if it was incidental. If there are animals on this planet that are infested we've got a bigger problem on our hands. Do you know what kind of meat they were eating?" "I would like the two of you to keep this on your things to investigate list. I am sure once we all get back to the ship further analysis can be done on this and we can have a better understanding. " Shifting gears and ideas he decided to see what new information they had come up with, if any. "Did you two happen to find anything of significance that I may have missed? Scanning for a virus and life forms is a little different from scanning the warp core for instabilities." Emily looked at Noble and then back, "I've seen just about as much as everyone. I'd like to rectify that. I'll keep looking and I'll let you know what I find." (posted by Lily Wood) (Color II - Southern Region - First Officer Lieutenant Henry Jacobs - 0738) Several minutes had passed before Henry made his transport down to the surface of Color II due to the malfunctioning clasps on the head gear of his suite which prevented him from securing his helmet. Once he did finally get it to work he was alone in the transporter room except for the transporter chief that stood across the room. Henry nodded in her direction and the transmission of his molecules commenced and completed with him down on the planet. Not to far away he saw the rest of the crew gathered around a set of tents already at work searching for the Teravere. He walked as fast as his bulky suite would let him over to the other Boudiccaites and let everyone else know that he had arrived. "What have I missed?" he asked and scanned the faces of his fellow crew members to see who would answer. He happened to be lucky enough to catch the gaze of Ensign Star. While he was not especially pleased to see her he knew that kind of attitude would not be conducive to the mission or any other while the two of them worked together on the Boudicca. He was going to change his attitude quickly and forget about what transpired between the two of them previously. He decided to start right then and there. "Miss Star what have you come up with so far, if I may ask?" (reply Star) He looked up to see that there was two other crew members that he had not had the pleasure of meeting yet. "I don't think I have met you two gentlemen" (reply Armstrong, Anderson) "Glad to have you both with us, and I look forward to working with you on the Boudicca." (posted by Darryl McDaniel) (Color II - Southern Region - Science Ens jg Harvey Armstrong - 0739) "I don't think I have met you two gentlemen" “Good day sir.” Harvey said glancing down at his tricorder for about the seven thousandth time over the course of the last ten minutes. The data was piling up quickly on the sample the Captain had discovered. “I am Ensign J.G. Harvey Armstrong, Science Department, pleasure to meet you.” His South African accent had slowly begun to creep more into his vernacular, his stress levels had steadily increased as the information poured into the little hand held device. (reply Anderson) "Glad to have you both with us, and I look forward to working with you on the Boudicca." “You as well sir,” Harvey said. “As you move around sir, be mindful of the ground on which you step, I have a concern that we may be dealing with a weaponized version of the Teravere here sir. It is unconfirmed as of now but safety is recommended.” ~The first officer and the captain on a dangerous Away Mission involving potential bio-weapons. Smiling as he talked to Ensign Noble. Tian laughed well not sure I’m a medical genius, but if you think so who am I to argue. Tian looked at the first officer Tricorder as he called over Ensign Star. Then took his tricorder off his side and ran a scan as Emily finished making her way to them. "What do you two think? Is it possible for the virus to be inherited or transmitted by digestion? My tricorder is reading that the food that was cooked in this had trace amounts of Teravere in it. If that is the case that adds a lot to what we knew about the virus and how it moves from host to host." Just the sound of Jacobs statement made Tian sick. “ Well its possible it could enter the blood stream if they ingested it , but who would willingly do that.” I would like the two of you to keep this on your things to investigate list. I am sure once we all get back to the ship further analysis can be done on this and we can have a better understanding. Well Ms Star sounds like we will get to know each other a little better. Tian said with one of his charming smiles. (Reply Star) "Did you two happen to find anything of significance that I may have missed? (posted by Richard Tomlin) (Color II - Southern Region – Science Ens jg Harvey Armstrong - 0742) All of the away team were extremely efficient. Armstrong was immediately drawn to Lieutenant Trei’s proposal of infusing a luminous agent to the Teravere. Perhaps in the future they could form a chemical bonding agent that could render it inert a molecule or compound that would effectively negate the weapon. Deynyk too had made a major discovery and that coupled with the luminous agent could bring a speedy result to the crisis. “Lieutenant Trei, please release that luminous agent if you have one in mind, everyone watch for its trail.” “Mr. Deynyk could you and Mr. Anderson place several more sensors around the plume you have found and then step off several meters in each direction and place a second sensor. It is my hope we can immediately detect where the Teravere is going on its own and insure the one plume is the only one in this area, ” Armstrong stated urgently, his mind was overflowing with input and he wanted to insure that the Away Team were all actively involved and not doubling over one another. Armstrong looked to the doctors next they seemed to be researching the presence of inhabitants. This was a major concern in Harvey’s mind. “Doctor Noble?” He said hesitantly, he was still unsure of everyone’s name. “Doctor can you determine that the inhabitants of the tents were in fact Colorians. I am concerned we might be dealing with an off world entity as these are temporary shelters pretty far out from civilization. I would hate to assume that we are dealing with infected Colorians only to find out later we could have done sensor sweeps from space for a non-indigenous race and quickly located our infected victims. Armstrong finally turned toward the FO. “Lieutenant Jacobs, my research tells me that you had an encounter with ‘The Beast’ and that some of the operations recently involved underground expeditions, could this plume point towards an underground laboratory or production facility that you were previously unaware of? Is there any way for us to insure it is not. I could perform a geological survey right here and see what is beneath us.” Harvey knelt down next to the plume that had been discovered and took a physical reading of the Teravere right at the source. He intended to discover if this was the same strain as had been detected before or if in fact this was a new mutated strain. (Written by Andy Collette) (Color II - Southern Region - TAC/S LT(JG) Detron Trei - 07.45) ENS Armstrong agreed with his suggestion and told him to use the agent if he had one. He had two in fact canisters clipped to his belt enough to cover the entire camp. He paused for respect to the party to get ready. "Yes sir. Get ready everyone." He pulled the pins on the canisters and rolled them out around the middle of camp for optimal coverage. The agent spread out nicely over the entire camp. The party made the necessary movement to get out of the way of the agent. Soon enough a luminous plume was located and followed. (Posted by Edward) (Color II - Southern Region - CO Captain Calvin Capps - 0747) Mr. Armstrong was certainly taking a lead with the away mission and he was doing an excellent job. The Captain pondered for a moment about his crew. He definitely had a large amount of new officers but they all were melding well together in a very short time. Calvin stepped back away from the canisters that Lieutenant Trei rolled on the ground. A small mist began to spray out of the canisters and surprisingly it wasn't as thick as the Captain thought it would be. It took only seconds later for the mist to disappear and suddenly the Teravere was easily see-able. The nerve agent appeared as a thick green cloud that was steadily and slowly coming from the ground near the closest tent. The nerve agent was all around the away team and was being pushed passed them in the opposite direction of the tent by the wind. With the thought that the nerve agent was still not harmful via airborne the Captain thought it would be better to concentrate more on where the Teravere was coming from. "As soon as we believe it is safe to do so, let's move this tents away so we can see what exactly is underneath." Well ready when you are (Posted by Richard Tomlin) (Color II - Southern Region - First Officer Lieutenant Henry Jacobs - 0751) Henry could see that the Boudicca was getting the best out of the Academy. The newest set of ensigns received were some of the brightest and most thorough individuals that Henry had met, except of course for himself. He laughed to himself in his head before he answered. "You are absolutely correct ensign. When we first arrived at Color II it was necessary for us to explore an underground facility to search for an explanation for the lack of power in the city center. This is where we encountered the brooding point for the Beast and effectively destroyed its shell returning power to the city. I would imagine that there are other facilities underground. I think it is just the matter of finding our way to them." (Reply Armstrong) "Proceed with the geological survey. We are working against time. We need to find whoever is experimenting with the Teravere and we need to do it as soon as possible." (Reply Armstrong) He watched as the young ensign jumped right into his work. Something he had to train others to do who had been out of the Academy for many moons. Jacobs lost his train of thought when his tricorder suddenly erupted to life with a series of beeps. The sound of everyone else's tricorder joined in unison as new life signs were being detected in their area. Jacobs swung his head in the direction of three of the security guards that accompanied them all down to the planet and being ever vigilant they acknowledged his eye contact from a far. The three security officers readied their weapons as they scanned the area around them. While the general area that the away team scanned was a basic clearing with tents, the perimeter of their search area was made up of general forest. Before Henry could point to the location of the unidentified life form the three security officers were already investigating a nearby bush where one of them heard some uneasy shuffling. Ensign Showers took point as the three men moved closer to the noise that was too conspicuous to ignore. He stuck the barrel of his phaser rifle against the edge of the bush and cautiously proceeded closer and deeper into the greenery. At this point the attention of the away team was focused on what was to transpire between security and whatever it was that was hiding in the background of the clearing. Henry drew his phaser from his holster in anticipation of what was about to happen. While he was secure in the idea that security would handle the issue, he was still the type of person to stay prepared for anything. (Reply Armstrong) (Posted by Darryl McDaniel) (Color II - Southern Region - CO Captain Calvin Capps - 0752) The Captain was bent over at the waist and had a firm hold of the bottom of the tent. A few other officers had also done the same thing. Before they were able to pick up the tent and move it out of the way multiple tricorders beeped simultaneously. Calvin let go of his grip and pulled out his tricorder. Before he read the data that was now coming in, he moved closer to the front of the action. Some security personnel had moved closer to the forest and particularly to a bush that had some kind of movement in it. Calvin noticed that every security officer pulled their pahsers immediately. He also saw in his peripheral vision his first officer did the same. Captain Capps stood there ready in anticipation for anything, so he thought. Suddenly, in response to Ensign Showers' phaser, a large animal about the size of a Wild Boar on Earth or a Klingon Targ shot out of the bushes. It made a direct line of attack toward the Captain. A few phasers shot toward the animal, but it was too fast to stop. The animal's small feet tracked as fast as they could go. The Captain seeing the immediate danger attempted to move out of the animal's way, but the hazmat suit hindered his movement. Before Calvin could clear the animal, it opened its massive jaw which held many sharp teeth and then cliched that jaw shut onto the Captain's lower leg. Although the hazmat suit was specially designed to protect against bites, scratches, and stabs it had no possibility against such a powerful bite from such a large animal. Calvin fell to the ground fast, screaming, and he kicked with his other foot trying to hurt the animal and to get the animal to release its hold. (reply any) It was clear to Captain Capps that someone had shot the animal or stopped it in some other manner. He could no longer feel it gnawing on his leg. He could honestly no longer feel his leg. Laying on the ground he looked at his leg and it was streaming large amounts of blood. Before he knew it there were others around him beginning to work on his leg. As he laid back on the ground knowing he was in safe hands he was panicking over something else. ~What if that animal was infected with the Teravere virus?~ (posted by Calvin Capps) (Color II - Southern Region - Emily Star - 0753) Emily felt like a fish out of water. A pathetic, mouth gaping open barely able to sustain its own life type of fish out of water. As far as she was concerned, the rest of the crew were perfectly set to make her look like a useless twig. So comfortable moving about with each other that people would wonder why she was even down there. Even the other new ones seemed to have their feet fully planted. Was it just her? Or was it the fact she was still so uncomfortable in her own skin that she didn't know how to interact normally while on a mission. As a result of that, Emily held back - away from the crowd. Then she sensed something odd. Moving towards it quietly she tried to pinpoint what it was. Only moments later she heard the shuffling of feet, the sound of tricorders whirring to life and phasers being drawn. Her brow only had a second to raise before the beast had run towards the Captain. As scary as it was, Emily noticed that the poor thing was more afraid than the crew on the ground shooting at it. But it was also sick. She could feel the reek of it coming off the thing. "Captain," Her voice was quiet, a mere squeak as she watched the animal tear into his leg. As brave as she'd like to think she was, and given how mouthy she could be there was the chance others assumed she was, Emily did not have any ability to charge such a creature. Thankfully and eventually someone shot it. In her opinion that thing shouldn't have made it to the Captain. Running over to him she skidded to a halt, knelt down and opened her kit. He was bleeding horribly. In an odd way the red color seemed to add a spark of life to their dull surroundings. Such a morbidly beautiful thought, "It's okay Sir." She said quietly as she injected a hypo into the open gash in his leg. Taking out her dermal regenerator she quickly healed the broken skin. The bleeding was over, whatever was on his skin, uniform, suit and the ground would begin to dry. Taking a blood sample she paused, held her breath and waited for the diagnosis. "Sir..." She said quietly, "I don't detect any Teravere in your blood stream. Unless it takes time to set in. Although," She look to the boar, "I have a feeling if they were ingesting an infected animal that could be how they became infected themselves. Can I take the animal to the ship for autopsy?" (posted by Lily Wood) (Color II - Southern Region - TAC/S LT(JG) Detron Trei - 07.55) He went to a defensive stance ready to engage with phaser fire at anything that came from the tent or the wooded brush nearby. The tent was lifted and the gas was detected with extensive tricorder beeps. Just as suddenly, an animal came rushing from the brush looking to be a wild boar or something he has seen on Quo'nos.. The animal attacked CPT Capps through his protective suit. The suit was bit through by the animal. The animal was too fast for the phasers. He got to the animal after it bit Capps in the leg killing the animal. Capps was emergency transported to Sickbay with Caspian and Noble. He was concerned for the Captain. (Color II - Southern Region - First Officer Lieutenant Henry Jacobs - 0800) As prepared as Jacobs was for anything that came his way, he was totally unprepared for what happened in front of him. As the security team moved in closer to the unidentified life form in the bushes an animal sprang out in a frightened frenzy and charged directly for the captain. Everyone who had a weapon drawn attempted to strike the enraged creature before he could reach his target but it was not until after it took a bite into the captains leg that a phaser strike hit. Tensions at this point were elevated as the captain fell over in the attack. Ensign Star who at first seemed out of place quickly returned to the present situation and rushed over to immediate tend to the captain's wounds. Jacobs by this time was right behind her to see how critically injured the captain had become. "Captain, are you alright." Henry asked the question not expecting an answer as he saw the extreme amount of pain that Calvin was in. "Miss Star?" he turned and said to her, actually expecting for her to answer. (Reply Star) "Understood. There may not be a trace of the Teravere right now but I want to make sure it stays that way. I want a medical quarantine established until we confirm the captain is not infected." Henry stood up turning to the away team as he thought of continuing the away mission or not. His eyes were instantly drawn to where the captain was working. Right under the area where the tent was appeared to be a hatch. "Ensign Armstrong, I believe that confirms the suggestion that there is another underground facility," Henry said pointing to the hatch. (Reply Armstrong) Henry walked over to the hatch and pulled it back. Scanning the opening with his tricorder he detected elevated amounts of the Teravere. He closed his tricorder and turned to address everyone else. "Attention, this is the plan. Ensigns Star, Trei, and Armstrong, you and Lieutenant Rinn will accompany me down the hatch. Captain Capps made it abundantly clear that discovering and containing the Teravere is our number one concern. " (Reply Rinn, Trei, Star, Armstrong) "The security detail will stay with us everyone else is to return to the ship. Ensign Jackson you need to find out why the environmental suite failed to protect the captain from the animals charge. Ensign Anderson please report to Dr. Saryn once you get on board and apprise her of what transpired down here. She will be in charge while the captain is recuperating." (Reply Anderson, Jackson) Everyone acknowledged their new assignments but Jacobs had said nothing to Ensign Noble. "Ensign you are going to beam up with the captain. You and Dr. Caspian will be in charge of the captain's return to health. Understood?" (Reply Noble) Henry tapped his commbadge to raise the Boudicca. "Boudicca come in. Medical emergency. We need a quarantine set up in Sickbay. Beam Ensign Noble, Captain Capps and the animal next to him immediately to Sickbay." (Reply Saryn, Caspian) Almost immediately Henry saw the captain de-materialize and then disappear. "Alright everyone. Let's move out." (Posted by Darryl McDaniel) (USS Boudicca - Sickbay – CMO Lt Jg Mia Saryn. – 0801) Sitting in her office, Mia went over the paperwork that she had neglected over the last few days. She had elected not to go down to the surface with the others, knowing that they needed at least one doctor on board just incasse anything happened. However being here, knowing that the rest of the senior staff were on the surface and doing things to help the people of Color II was eating away at her. After a few minutes, she put down the Padd that she had been working on and sighed. She could feel her thoughts turning to the baby that was on the surface, alone and scared. Her thoughts were suddenly interupted by the sound of a transport into sickbay. Things happened next in quick succession. Sounds of people moving and someone entered her office. Looking up she saw Lizzy’s face full of concern. "Mia we had an issue on the surface..." listening as Lizzy filled her in on what had happened, she nodded simply in reply and stood. Walking out of her office in silence, she walked into the main area of sickbay and saw the Captain being placed onto a bed. Standing still, she yelled, “Everyone STOP!” (Reply Any) Looking at each pair of eyes that held hers, Mia took a moment and then spoke, “Okay, listen up people because this is how we’re going to do things. I want that thing…” she pointed at the dead creature on the floor, “…. Out of my sickbay now. All of you that have been on the surface are going straight into decontamination, no arguments. I want the Captain straight into an isolation room and set the computer to run scans on him.” (Reply Any) “I don’t care. Snap to it or do I have to beam you all there?” (Reply Any) Watching as those that had been on the surface removed the creature and headed to decontamination, she sighed. Knowing that she had been a little harsh on them, she knew she owed them an apology but that could wait. Picking up a tri-corder, she walked to the isolation room that now held the captain and looked through the window. Knowing he must be a little scared, she activated the comm system and said, “Sir, Can you hear me?” (Reply Capps) “I know, Sir. I know. Let me run a scan on the air in there for one second.” (Reply Capps) Watching as the scan run it’s course, she smiled happily as it reported no foreign agents. Tapping on the console, she entered the room and sat by his bed. (Reply Capps) “Sir, I want you to listen to me. The wound on your body was healed well by Ensign Star. From what I understand, that thing broke the skin?” (Reply Capps) Closing her eyes for a brief second, Mia opened them and looked into Capps’ eyes and said, “Sir, permission to speak freely?” (Reply Capps) “I can’t ignore the fact that, even though the wound was healed and quickly, there is still the chance that the Teravere entered your system. So I would like you to lie still for a moment whilst I take a quick scan of you.” (Reply Capps) Standing slowly, Mia held the tricorder close to the captain’s body and ran it the full length. As it beeped it’s findings her heart sank. Teravere. Taking a deep breath, she turned back to the Captain and said, “Sir, do you want to know?” (Reply Capps) Nodding, she sat down next to him and said, “I’ve got minute traces of the Teravere in your system. It’s enough that it may start to affect you soon. Whatever scans Ensign Star took of you were too early for her to see this. It takes a good few moments to show up in scans.” (Reply Capps) “Well, it means that you are now confined to this room. If this begins to affect you in the ways you describe, I will have to restrain you but I’m hoping to figure out a cure before that happens. Sir, if it does, do you want me to sedate you?” (Reply Capps) “I’ve confined the others and the creature to the decontamination room for now. They can still runs scans on the creature from there but I am not letting them out until we can be sure that none of them are infected.” (Reply Capps) “What now?” (Reply Capps, Caspian, Noble, Anderson, Jackson, any) (Posted by Jackie Smith) (Color II - Southern Region – Asst CMO Ensign Tian Noble - 0802) "Ensign you are going to beam up with the captain. Noble took his place next to the captain. Lucky for you cellular regeneration is my specially today Tian said in a joking voice trying to hide his fear. Tian gave one last look to the first officer as forest disappeared before his eyes, and sick bay appeared. (Posted by Richard Tomlin) (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - Councilor Ensign(jg) Elizabeth Caspian, Dr. - 0805) Lizzy was on the surface she watched has the animal attacked the Captain, saw how the animal died. but she couldn't feel anything off it. Normally she was receptive to the minds of animals and the psychic echos of places. But both the animal and the camp site seemed dead. Lizzy cursed at herself she should of noticed sooner but do to her exhausted mental state didn't. She felt like she failed the away team. The needed the early warning a telepathic could offer. Noble took the time to catch Lizzy up to speed, Elizabeth was thankful for the recap in case there was something she missed. “What I’d like to do is run a few test to make sure he really has no trace of the virus in his blood stream and, the same on that animal over there. What do you think?” Noble spoke has he pressed a few buttons on the bio bed and began a full scan of the captain. "Also Noble cross reference what you find with the data collected from the zombies and the beast lets see if there is any sort of collation." (reply Noble) Lizzy then left to catch Mia up to speed. Walking into Mia's office. "Mia we had an issue on the surface..." Elizabeth filled Mia in on all that happened and how the attack on the Captain, and the treatment that Noble was administering to the Captain. "Can do," Emily said with a nod. She tapped her badge and contacted the ship. Relaying the message was easy and they were on standby to receive him from the surface. "Attention, this is the plan." Jacobs said, drawing Emily's attention away from her tricorder, " Ensigns Star, Trei, and Armstrong, you and Lieutenant Rinn will accompany me down the hatch. Once again, Emily felt invisible. She packed up her kit and left the Captain to the others. It didn't matter that she'd already contacted sickbay for the quarantine nor that they were already prepared for the Captain. No, she'd just pass her patient off to someone else who didn't even know half the stuff she did. With a roll of her eyes she stood, moving towards the hatch to join with the others. "Fine - let's do this."Emily mumbled as she waited. She knew Noble was only trying to help but it was a situation that needed a stern hand and that was what she had given it. Sitting back down next to Captain Capps, she said, “I’m sorry you had to see that.” (Reply Capps) “Sir, do you have any orders?” (Posted by Jackie Smith) (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - CO Captain Calvin Capps - 0821) The Captain had just been beamed up to the ship, but the experience of it was already a fading memory. Although he was patched up by Mr. Noble his body was still reacting to the bite. He was disoriented and was having a hard time focusing. It felt as if he was being placed onto a bed. One that was somewhat comfortable, but not as soft as the bed in his personal quarters. He watched fuzzy faces and bodies standing next to each other craning over his body. He tried to understand what was going on. One of them yelled something and then a fast back and forth conversation between two individuals followed. It didn't seem to last long and it appeared that one was able to get the upper hand over the other. Suddenly only one person was standing over him. “I’m sorry you had to see that," Dr. Saryn said. "I'm afraid I didn't see much. My vision is a little skewed at the moment," the Captain admitted. Although he felt different. He felt as if some type of medicine was finally starting to work. His thoughts were coming together and making more sense. “Sir, do you have any orders?” Saryn needed to know. It was now coming back to the Captain. The animal that attacked him and successfully bit him. He remembers Lt. Jacobs barking orders now. "Lt. Jacobs sent orders along with the beam out party. Did they not tell you?" (reply Saryn) "Well, if I recall, Lt. Jacobs has put you in charge up here whilst he searches through a found underneath tunnel. Like the ones before. I am clearly in no condition to command right now." The Captain said in a very slow voice. He felt weak. “Sir, Can you hear me?” "Yes....yes, I can hear you," Calvin closed his eyes. The lights hurt. "I may be infected from the bite." “I know, Sir. I know. Let me run a scan on the air in there for one second.” Silence. No Teravere was found in the air so Lt. Saryn walked into the room with her Captain. “Sir, I want you to listen to me. The wound on your body was healed well by Ensign Star. From what I understand, that thing broke the skin?” "Yes, it was very painful," Calvin explained. He opened his eyes to look at the person standing once again above him. Closing her eyes for a brief second, Mia opened them and looked into Capps’ eyes and said, “Sir, permission to speak freely?” "Bad news, huh?" he licked his lips. “I can’t ignore the fact that, even though the wound was healed and quickly, there is still the chance that the Teravere entered your system. So I would like you to lie still for a moment whilst I take a quick scan of you.” "No problem there doctor." He didn't move except he felt like closing his eyes again so he did. Standing slowly, Mia held the tricorder close to the captain’s body and ran it the full length. As it beeped it’s findings her heart sank. Teravere. Taking a deep breath, she turned back to the Captain and said, “Sir, do you want to know?” "Yes I would like to know." Whatever scans Ensign Star took of you were too early for her to see this. It takes a good few moments to show up in scans.” "Soon? Doctor I am pretty sure I am already experiencing the effects of it. Have I not been acting strange because I feel like I have?" he asked out of complete confusion. “Well, it means that you are now confined to this room. If this begins to affect you in the ways you describe, I will have to restrain you but I’m hoping to figure out a cure before that happens. Sir, if it does, do you want me to sedate you?” "NO!" he said quickly. "Not now, but if you must of course do so." “I’ve confined the others and the creature to the decontamination room for now. They can still runs scans on the creature from there but I am not letting them out until we can be sure that none of them are infected.” "That seems practical," the Captain responded. He wasn't exactly for sure what she was talking about. “What now?” Saryn asked. "I don't know, I think that is up to you." The Captain laid there. He now felt calm and in peace. He wanted to stop talking and he wanted to just fall asleep. Short bursts of recent memory would fire through his brain and he could understand everything, but mostly he was confused and calm, and didn't care so he just laid there. (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Boudicca - Sickbay – CMO Lt Jg Mia Saryn - 0826) Watching as Capps’ eyes flitter closed, she leant over him and whispered in his ear, “It’s okay, Sir. Sleep. Looking at them each, one by one, she spoke again, “The Captain has put me in temporary command of the ship. I need to go and talk to Lieutenant Jacobs. Stay strong in there. He turned to walk toward the door. When he felt a hand touch his shoulder he look back it was Liz he’d forgotten about her. “Are you okay?” he asked (Reply Caspian) “Hey guys. I just wanted to apologise for being stern before. You’ve got to understand how dangerous this virus is and how badly we need to keep it contained.” Apologize really now. Noble kept the thought to himself this time he already had enough words he was going to have to answer for when this was all over. He kept his head down and continued to work on the data in front of him. “Captain Capps is going to be fine. I want you all to work together to find that cure “The Captain has put me in temporary command of the ship. I need to go and talk to Lieutenant Jacobs. Stay strong in there. I’ll be back as soon as I can.” Mia left them to work. Tian was scared for the first time since he’d been on this ship, and it wasn’t even about that stupid virus. He was worried he would let Mia down or worse the Captain. He look over at Dr Caspian “hey look about before I’m sorry if I got you into any trouble.” (Reply Caspian) “Will you two come have a look at this?” Tian spoke to his cell mates “Here is the two strands of DNA that the transporter pick up form the captain as you can see the T works rapidly.” “Now if you look at T as you see there a few different agents in there what we need to know is what one causes the change.” (posted by Richard Tomlin) (Color II - Underground tunnel - First Officer Henry Jacobs - 0831) Henry had no issue with Ensign Armstrong taking point, merely for the fact that he wanted a preliminary scan of the hatch before anyone entered anyway. Henry had no idea what to prepare for down the hatch, still a little shaken from the attack on the captain. The only thing that was going for him was the adrenaline that coursed through his body after standing tall and taking control of the situation. Once the ensign gave the ok the rest of the team followed down the hatch. Henry stepped down from the ladder and placed his feet on a solid surface. He turned around to find a vision totally opposite of what he had expected. Contrary to the condition of the other tunnels Henry had traversed while on Color II, this one was well lit and kept which in his mind signified that it was currently in use. The tunnel had overhead lighting that must have activated with the presence of the away team. "Let's proceed with caution, as we don't know what to expect down here." Henry turned to the security detail ordering two of them to take point since initial scans did not detect anything of concern. "I need you two up front in case anything catches us off guard. I don't want a repeat of what happened outside." They acknowledged what he had to say and with rifles raised they moved to the front of the group. With things slowing down a bit Henry had time to respond to the actions of the crew from before, most notably the actions of Ensign Star. "That was really great work you did out there. Your fast action may have saved his leg, even his life. I want you to know you did a great job" (Posted by Darryl McDaniel) (Color II - Underground Tunnel - First Officer Lieutenant Henry Jacobs - 0834) The team began heading in further through the tunnel following the well lit path to the core of the facility. Jacobs out." Jacobs closed the channel and rejoined the rest of the away team. They all looked up as he rejoined them. The looks on their face implied they wanted to know what was discussed in the conversation. "Things are not looking good. Further scans detected Teraver in the captains system. Given their last conversation, plus the added glare he'd given her back in the meeting room, Emily hadn't exactly thought herself on his good side. This exchange didn't really change anything, except that she'd shown her useful qualities. He could still think her a pain in the ass - which she was. He thought about his sister, that was the last time he ever saw a medical bay. She too suffered from a sickness, but not as dangerous, but it still affected her. (POSTED By Brett Goodson) (Color II - Underground Tunnel - Science Ensign jg Harvey Armstrong - 0839) The first officer had stepped back to receive a message from the ship. Lieutenant Trei was doing a fine job keeping everyone safe as were the two security officers in front of Armstrong. Ensign Star was performing well as well. As the Away Team continued slowly down the corridor it became more and more apparent they were headed toward danger. First the levels of detectable Teravere were increasing significantly the further along they travelled. Secondly the corridor was beginning to narrow. If Harvey had to guess it meant an intersection or an opening of some sort was coming up on their course of travel. Harvey made his thoughts known to the others, “This corridor is narrowing ahead, I suggest we keep a close watch, we are probably coming up on an open space on an intersection. Also know that the Teravere we have been detecting is increasing in intensity. I think we should be very cautious.” (Written by Andy C) (Color II - Temporary Senator Office - Senator Dook Ptogle - 0840) Dook sat in his chair behind his desk. His door was open and he could see many of his fellow Colorians briskly walking past his door. The relief effort and the rebuilding of the most important buildings were well underway. But these actions were keeping everyone extremely busy including himself. His computer screen came to life and his aides' face appeared. "Sir the Boudicca is hailing." Senator Ptogle was contacted hours ago by the Boudicca's Captain and was informed of the found nerve agent at the southern region of Color II. The Senator had tried to send the Starfleet crew a little help with his own people, but the Captain had refused the help based on the Capital needing as many people as it could keep and Captain Capps knew his crew was able to handle the situation. "Put it through," Dook told his aide. He waited for the transfer to complete. He had expected to see the Captain on his view screen but instead he saw a female Starfleet officer. He thought she looked familiar as if he had seen her before, but he couldn't remember exactly who she was. "Hello, this is Senator Ptogle." (reply Saryn) "A pleasure to meet you Lieutenant, but please forgive my forwardness - where is the Captain?" (reply Saryn) The answer that Dook was afraid of. When he first heard about the Teravere the Senator knew that it would only cause more trouble. He hated that he now allowed the Captain to move forward with his plan. "I am deeply concerned for your Captain and hope that he can make a complete recovery. How can I assist you?" (posted by Calvin Capps) (Color II - Underground Tunnel - TAC/S LT(JG) Detron Trei - 08.41) Armstrong indicated that he was doing a great job securing the situation when he detected a significant rise in the nerve gas levels. He pulled his Tricorder out to confirm the statement and found it to be true. He turned to face Armstrong and see how he wanted to proceed . "Mr Armstrong. I confirm your assessment of the gas increasing in danger quickly. How do you wish to proceed?" (Posted by Edward) (Color II - Underground Tunnel - Sciences, Ens jg Harvey Armstrong - 08.42) "Mr Armstrong. I confirm your assessment of the gas increasing in danger quickly. How do you wish to proceed?" “The amount of gas is not the most troubling reading. We have our Protective suits. I am more concerned with the extremely faint life signs I am beginning to pick up. I fear we may have discovered something more than we expected. The concentrations are so high I would assume there is a production facility ahead. The life signs are so faint I would also assume that there has been some form of accident in the facility, only eyes on observation will tell. They could just as easily be using a dampening system and be waiting to ambush us.” Armstrong said. “I say we use extreme caution but move forward to identify what we have in reality.” (Written by Andy C) (USS Boudicca – Bridge – CMO Lt Jg Mia Saryn – 0843) =/\= Hello, this is Senator Ptogle. =/\= “Senator Ptogle, My name is Lieutenant Saryn.” =/\= A pleasure to meet you Lieutenant, but please forgive my forwardness - where is the Captain? =/\= Biting her lip, Mia said, “Senator, Captain Capps has become infected with the Terravere virus and is currently in sickbay.” =/\= I am deeply concerned for your Captain and hope that he can make a complete recovery. How can I assist you? =/\= Feeling Saryn reaching into her mind to give her the strength to keep moving, she replied, “Senator, i need to know if anyone has been in the area researching or experimenting on the virus?” (Reply Ptogle) “Sir, if i may?” (Reply Ptogle) “I’m not saying that i don’t believe you but i need the truth. If the Captain is to survive, we need to know everything.” (Posted by Jackie Smith) (Color II - Temporary Senator Office - Senator Dook Ptogle - 0845) Lt. Saryn replied, “Senator, I need to know if anyone has been in the area researching or experimenting on the virus?” "I have no knowledge of this nerve agent or who might even be working on it. As I told your Captain I am shocked to hear about such a dangerous virus and not have known about it," Dook answered. He knew that the lieutenant was just doing some standard investigation with her question, but he still felt a little sting as he felt he was being interrogated as well. “Sir, if i may?” Senator Ptogle didn't like the question. He knew that something worse was to follow. He had been in politics for a long time and knew the warning signs. "Of course, however I may assist you." “I’m not saying that i don’t believe you but i need the truth. If the Captain is to survive, we need to know everything.” The senator took a second to think. "I in no way have any knowledge of the nerve agent Teravere. I will gladly help you in any way I can, but as to the origin of the nerve agent I do Not," he put an emphasis on the last word "know who is behind such a horrible thing. And frankly Ms. Saryn I appreciate it if you don't ask me the same question again." (posted by Calvin Capps) (Color II - Underground Tunnel - First Officer Lieutenant Henry Jacobs - 0847) "I completely agree with you, " Henry said in response to the ensign's suggestion. " There is no need for us to put anyone else in further danger. We will proceed ahead and it's everyone's responsibility to speak up if you notice something." "Ensign Star I need you to run constant scans for other life signs other than our own. If there is anyone else down here we will need to find them and all that they know about the Teravere." (Reply Star) "Ensign Trei, I want you to fall back with me. We will bring up the rear. The other two seconds will push forward." (Reply Trei) The ground continued to walk down the narrowing corridor until they came to the intersection that Ensign Armstrong suggested. Henry pointed his tricorder to the left and scanned. It returned scans of increased planetary minerals which signaled in his mind that it that direction would either reach a dead end or a path that would not be complete. " To the right everyone." He motioned with his hand as well as the group took the turn to the right and continued to walk. The team walked for a few meters until the point men raised their hands to hold the group up. Henry walked to the front of the group to see a closed door. He nodded his head to the security officers to approach the door from both sides. With both security officers steadfast on the door Lieutenant Jacobs walked over to Ensign Star and spoke. "I need to know if there is anyone in there before we breach the door." (Reply Star) "Everyone be prepared for what's on the other side of that door. Armstrong, when you see an opening you get to a computer and start searching for the information we are looking for." (Reply Armstrong) "Alright everyone. Here we go." Henry walked over to the door. Removed the manual release hatch, and then pulled the lever to release the magnetic lock. (Posted by Darryl McDaniel) (Color II - Underground Tunnel - TAC/S LT(JG) Detron Trei - 08.50) He heard the response from Armstrong and mentally noted his assessment. He agreed with the faint life signs there was most likely an accident up ahead. He didn't like the notion of a ambush but that was always a possibility. Jacobs ordered him to fall back with him. He felt that the front needed him more in case of attack but he complied with the direct order. "Yes Sir." He fell back with Jacobs but still maintained his defensive stance ready to fire at any sign of trouble.
