Listening intently Matrix noted the conversations about where the Commander should be. Without saying a word he nodded in agreement. The Commander should be guarded in these situations. The Commander again ordered everyone to move out so move out they did. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Davros III Mining Colony- Lawson Residence- SEO -LT Matrix-1841) Nearly a half hour later and in a full fire fight to get out Matrix was exhausted. He witnessed crew dying before, but its was never anything to get used to. While in great shape Matrix was trying to catch his breath while keeping vigilant for threats. They assembled into two defensive lines and awaited beam out. As the team started the dematerializing sequence Matrix felt a piercing sensation in his left arm almost as though he¹d been sliced or stabbed with something. He felt weak, but grateful to be alive and going aboard. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante – Medical Quarantine -Ops- ENS (jg) Chance Raschen-1844.9) "Glad you dropped by." Ro’Dal said with a smile, then a chuckle and gave Chance and the security officer both a hearty slap on the back. Standing up straight and as he popped his neck and back stated whimsically “Thought it might be the thing to do since we were in the neighborhood” as the two late arrivals laughed lightly. (Reply not required) (Posted by Charlie) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Medical Quarantine- SEO LT Matrix - 1851) Matrix materialized and looked at his arm. He wasn¹t imagining things. He was injured and bleeding badly from the elbow up to his shoulder. The blood loss was impressive and Matrix started to lose consciousness. He noted the medial personnel in the room.. ~Oh boy...this isn't good.~ and passed out. (Reply any, none) (Posted by Steve) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Medical Quarantine- EMH - 1852) It had been a while since anyone had activated him and it took him a nanosecond or two to figure out what was happening but suddenly realising that he was in the Quarantine Facility he looked around. He could see the CMO and she seemed to be busy with an alien that his program immediately informed him was not a member of the crew at present. Chief Fuller was busy too checking everyone else in the room and as he looked around he noticed that one of the away team, a Lt Matrix, his program informed him, had slumped to the floor with what looked like an ugly gash to his arm which seemed to be bleeding profusely. Crossing to the officer he knelt down and began to assist him. Stemming the blood flow he chose a hypospray full of fluids and injected it into the Lieutenant. Luckily it seemed only to be a bad gash and nothing appeared to be broken, so using a haemo regenerator and them a dermal regenerator the EMH closed up the wound quickly and waited beside his patient until he awoke. Using his normal amount of charm, which was just about minimal, since the CMO had never considered updating his bedside manner, he address the Lieutenant. "Well Lieutenant it looks like you will make a full recovery. You seem to have been lucky that none of the nanites were transferred to your system during your injury or I would have been faced with the prospect of vaporising you to ensure the safety of the rest of the away team, and I am pleased to inform you, that although you might experience some pain in your arm over the next few days, that this will be only temporary and the pain medication that I am about to give you should alleviate those symptoms somewhat." The EMH dial up a fairly low dose pain medication for the Lieutenant and injected him. "If you feel unwell at any time, or experience any unexplained side effects then please feel free to stop by Sickbay. Our door is always open, unfortunately. For now you are cleared for active duty as far as I am concerned and you may leave this facility as soon as you have been cleared." Barely waiting for an answer the EMH winked out of the facility and back to the computer matrix where he tended to reside. (Reply Matrix if you want) (Posted by Marilyn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Ready Room - CO - Captain Susan Rivers - 1915) Susan had listened without interruption to what Ahmed had to say, her face growing graver as the story continued. The situation was worse than any of them had imagined, and clearly there was only one option before them. As her FO drew to a close, she nodded. "I wholeheartedly concur, Number One," she said seriously. "The risk to so many civilisations - not just our own - is too great." She looked down at her coffee before looking back at him and continued, "I suggest we put engineering to work on modifying a torpedo ready to launch as soon as Dr Caskie has finished her job. The science department should also prepare to return the hand to the Sky of Tomorrow, and we need to be sure that on destroying the ship that the nanites will be destroyed too. I take it there's no question of them surviving the destruction of the ship?" (reply Ahmed) Susan nodded. "Have you any idea how long it will take Josh to remove the virus from Mr Nachook?" (reply Ahmed) "I see. Well, we had better get that torpedo ready, I don't want that virus hanging around on this ship any longer than strictly necessary." (reply Ahmed iyw) She smiled at him. "You did well down there, Ahmed. You brought most of the team back. I know from my own experience that you will always regret the ones that didn't return but please, try to focus on the fact that so many people *did* make it back. Not only that but you also were able to save the person who carries the means to destroy these nanites. And very possibly made an excellent first contact with a new race by doing so. We should let his companions know what's going on, and that we hope to be able to return him to them before too long." (reply Ahmed, any) (Posted by Liz) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Ready Room- FO- Lt. Cmdr. Ahmed Ibn Salid- 1917) Ahmed finished his simple report and drained the last of his coffee. He placed the cup on the small end table next to him and looked at Rivers. It was obvious from the look on her face that she felt the same way Ahmed did. She nodded. "I wholeheartedly concur, Number One," she said seriously. "The risk to so many civilizations - not just our own - is too great." She looked down at her coffee before looking back at him and continued, "I suggest we put engineering to work on modifying a torpedo ready to launch as soon as Dr Caskie has finished her job. The science department should also prepare to return the hand to the Sky of Tomorrow, and we need to be sure that on destroying the ship that the nanites will be destroyed too. I take it there's no question of them surviving the destruction of the ship?" "None." Ahmed replied shaking his head, "It would seem that they require a biological organism or semblance there of to survive, so anything that destroys the host will eventually cause their destruction as well." Susan nodded. "Have you any idea how long it will take Josh to remove the virus from Mr. Nachook?" Again Ahmed shook his head, "Not only do we not know how long it will take, we don't know exactly how long she has to make the attempt. Apparently there is an enzyme of some sort that causes a fleshy barrier, which contains the virus, to breakdown, There are simply too many factors to try to calculate how long that would take. In addition, Doctor Caskie will be performing this task without any foreknowledge of Opthidian Anatomy, short of what she can determine by scans." "I see. Well, we had better get that torpedo ready, I don't want that virus hanging around on this ship any longer than strictly necessary." The Captain replied. "Additionally, we may need Operations to reprogram a few probes that we can place in orbit with Quarantine beacons. Anything on that planet will be virulent for the next 200 or so years and we don't want to raise a body count if we can avoid it." Ahmed added. She smiled at him in agreement, then changed the subject, "You did well down there, Ahmed. We should let his companions know what's going on, and that we hope to be able to return him to them before too long." "Mister Nachook indicated that his companions may take our interference the wrong way, especially our handling of the Socarian Matrix. He suggested that we resolve the issue first to show our sincere dedication to their mission. At this stage I agree. It is also likely that they are monitoring us and will most likely make an attack on us if they feel we are trying to escape. Mister Nachook, should he survive, would be an excellent person to have on the bridge to convince his companions of our desire to aid them. Judging from Mister Raschen's encounter, their small raiding ships are unlikely to pose a serious tactical threat to the Rosenante." There was a pause. "With your leave captain, I'll get everyone moving time is a very valuable commodity at present." (reply Rivers) (posted by Daniel Greene) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Ready Room - CO - Captain Susan Rivers - 1918) After a slight pause, Ahmed said. "With your leave captain, I'll get everyone moving. Time is a very valuable commodity at present." Susan nodded. "Yes, please, Ahmed." She stood up. "Keep me informed. I'll be on the Bridge." (reply Ahmed iyw) They left the Ready Room together, Susan to head for the command chair and Ahmed to get things moving. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Ready Room- FO- Lt. Cmdr. Ahmed Ibn Salid- 1919) "Yes, please, Ahmed." She stood up. "Keep me informed. I'll be on the Bridge." Salid nodded and followed the Captain out onto the bridge. As she headed for the center chair, he turned and headed for other parts of the ship. there was a lot to do. He reached the turbolift and ordered it to take him to Main Engineering. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Ready Room - FO Lt. Cmdr. Ahmed Ibn Salid- 1920) Ahmed then turned to Mister T'Kron. "I need you to modify five class three probes. I need them to be able to maintain station keeping around this planet; one at the southern pole, one at the northern pole and the other three at 120 arc minutes apart around the equator. They will need to be able to transmit a continuous quarantine warning concerning this planet for at least 60-standard days. You have roughly 40 minutes to get this finished. Dismissed." "Yes, Sir," said Ensign T'Kron. "I will begin directly." After they were all dismissed, T'Kron went back to main Engineering. Going to an unused console, he began programming up the planetary probes. The class three probes would last longer, having a larger extended fuel supply and being microfusion powered. They would need to stay in place and be more reliable. They would continuously emit the quarantine message for as long as they lasted. He programmed in the point each be stationed around the planet. He tapped his commbadge. "Ensign T'kron to Cmdr. Salid." (Reply Ahmed ibn Salid) "I am ready to deploy the probes, Sir. Shall I launch them now?" (Reply Ahmed ibn Salid) (Posted by Sheila Mayer) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Bridge- FO- Lt. Cmdr. Ahmed Ibn Salid- 1924) It wasn't long after Ahmed had returned to the bridge that his Commbadge chirped once again. =^=Ensign T'kron to Cmdr. Salid.=^= "Go ahead T'Kron" "I am ready to deploy the probes, Sir. Shall I launch them now?" Ahmed considered it for a couple of moments. "Not quite yet Mister T'Kron. I'd rather wait until we have destroyed the Sky of Tomorrow so that there is no chance of inadvertently damaging the probes. Once we have the freighter handled I will notify you so that you may deploy the probes." (reply T'Kron iyw) (posted by Daniel Greene) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Main Engineering- FO- Lt. Cmdr. Ahmed Ibn Salid- 1925) Ahmed stepped through the doors to Main Engineering and immediately felt better. Sometimes he much preferred the cool hum of the ship's warp core to the constant stress of Command. He was always an engineer at heart, regardless of what task he was set to perform at any given time. When it was all said an done, he could at least think about the machines that he loves so much to relieve a little stress. On this trip however, there wasn't much time to take a walk through Main Engineering or to ask for status reports or try his hand at interfering, as he might be wont to do on any other visit. In this instance he was here for a very specific purpose. He glanced around the room and spotted Lieutenant Bird. The man was an excellent engineer and Ahmed almost envied him his position aboard ship. "Lieutenant Bird, Please have Lieutenant Matrix and Ensign T'Kron join us in your office immediately." Ahmed said without much of a pause. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante – Chief of Operations Office -Ops- ENS (jg) Chance Raschen-1925) After being cleared from the medical quarantine chamber, Chance went to his quarters to get a fresh uniform that didn’t have any holes burned into it by phaser fire. After changing clothes he decided to go ahead and grab a peanut butter & jelly sandwich to eat and a sweet tea to drink while he walked through the corridors of the ship. Once on deck 2, Raschen quickly found the Operations offices. After dropping his drink cup into a recycler chute, he made sure that he looked presentable by brushing crumbs off of and wrinkles out of his uniform, Chance pressed the button for the chime.. (Reply Smith) As Raschen entered the office he noticed that the man behind the desk was several years younger than himself, a couple inches taller and definitely 20 pounds lighter. ~I wonder if I was that skinny when I was his age?~ Chance thought as he came to the position of attention and saluted saying “Ensign Smith; Ensign (jg) Chance Raschen reporting as ordered by the First Officer, sir.” (Reply Smith) (Posted by Charlie) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- CEO's Office- FO- Lt. Cmdr. Ahmed Ibn Salid- 1929) When everyone had assembled, Ahmed motioned for T'Kron to close the door before he spoke. The door closed, he then brought everyone up to speed with the situation and what was to be done about it. "Mister Bird, I need you and mister Raschen to Take and modify a single Quantum torpedo, so that it can deliver a chemical liquid into the atmosphere of the planet below without destroying the contents of the material stored aboard the torpedo. We will need this done within the next 40 minutes so there's little time to waste. The torpedo will need to be hermetically sealed until such time as the payload can be delivered in an aerosol package. For further details, contact Doctor Caskie." He looked at them both, then added. "Dismissed." (reply Bird, Matrix) "Ahmed then turned to Mister T'Kron. I need you to modify five class three probes. I need them to be able to maintain station keeping around this planet. One at the southern pole, one at the northern pole and the other three at 120 arc minutes apart around the equator. They will need to be able to transmit a continuous quarantine warning concerning this planet for at least 60-standard days. You have roughly 40 minutes to get this finished. Dismissed." (reply T'Kron) Once everyone had left him alone in the CEO's office, Ahmed tapped his commbadge. "Salid to Raschen and Ro'Dal" (reply Charlie & Ro'Dal) "I need you both to coordinate to safely transfer the nanites that were are holding in containment to the Sky of Tomorrow to be transferred over within the next hour. Mister Raschen, I want you to remotely download all information from the Freighter's computers, then do the same from the central computers on the colony." (reply Charlie, Ro'Dal. Matrix, Bird, T'Kron) (posted by Daniel Greene) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Brisbane - Transporter Room 1 - Lieutenant Sullivan & Ensign Maddox - 1931) T'Larah had been waiting here as directed by the watch officer Lt Xim for the past half an hour and they still have made no contact with the Rosenante. No word of an adjusted ETA, and no communication to return to quarters. ~Sometimes I think that man does it just because he can.~ she thought to herself. Then the doors parted and an Ensign wearing a blue collar walked in the door. He was slightly taller then T'Larah with dark hair and pale eyes. Andrew walked into the transporter room that Xim told him to go to. It seemed finally that he was going to be stationed on a ship that needed his superior scientific skills. No more stuffy research vessels, finally he could go and get in on the cutting edge of exploration. He quickly looked around the room and saw the transporter technician, and a Vulcan woman standing as if waiting for a transport too. ~Oh, great Andrew, another chance to make a spaz of yourself.~ he thought. Andrew swallowed hard. His palms were sweating. He wiped his hand on his pant leg. "Hi, I'm Andrew." he said smiling, and offered his hand to shake. T'Larah looked at him, "Ensign Andrew, you will forgive me if I don't shake hands." she said regarding him. ~ Dummy, Vulcans are all touch telepaths, of course she won't shake your hand.~ Andrew stammered, "Sorry, it's actually Ensign Maddox, Andrew is my first name." he said now beaming. "Ensign Maddox, you may call me Lieutenant Sullivan, is there something I can do for you?" ~I can think of about a hundred things you could do to me,~ he thought to himself but kept his mouth shut. "Lieutenant am I to understand that we will be going to the Rosenante together?" he asked cautiously. "I am being assigned to the Rosenante, yes." she responded politely. ~YES.~ his mind sang. "I'm going too, I'm going to be in her science department. Where are you being assigned?" he asked continuing the small talk. "My orders state that I will resume as her Chief of Tactical." she informed him evenly. ~She's a career woman, you gotta impress her Andrew.~ "Yeah well with my skills they will surely assign me to Chief Science officer in no time." he bragged trying to impress her. ~Is he a child?~ she thought, but just before she responded a communique piped in through the room. The Brisbane was contacting the Rosenante. =^= USS Rosenante, this is the USS Brisbane on approach with personnel transfer, how do you copy?=^= It was Lt Xim that could be heard speaking to the Rosenante. (Reply Rosenante) =^= That is an affirmative, sir. I will arrange for transport now.=^= "Please step on the pad." the transporter tech told them. Both officers stepped up and took there own positions. =^= Energize.=^= came the command from Xim. The transporter beams took them both to their new home on the Rosenante. (Reply any on Rosenante) (posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante – Deck 2 Passageway -Ops- ENS (jg) Chance Raschen-1931) As Chance walked down the passageway toward the turbo-lift up to the Bridge, his comm.-badge beeped and then he heard the FO’s voice saying =^=Salid to Raschen and Ro'Dal=^= ”Raschen here sir.” =^=I need you both to coordinate to safely transfer the nanites that we are holding in containment to the Sky of Tomorrow to be transferred over within the next hour. She responded, acknowledging his contact after Raschen responded. =^=I need you both to coordinate to safely transfer the nanites that we are holding in containment to the Sky of Tomorrow to be transferred over within the next hour. Ro'Dal, where do you want to meet so we can get started?=/\= Raschen inquired. "I think we should meet in Sickbay where the nanites are quarantined." The Takaran suggested, her logic being that they could start right away in the process of ridding the Rosenante of their menace. =/\= I'll see you there; Raschen out.=/\= --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - CO - Captain Susan Rivers - 1933) "Captain, I have an incoming message from the Brisbane; they are approaching with personnel to transfer." Susan nodded. "That will be Lt Sullivan and our new Science officer," she said. "Tell the Brisbane we are ready to receive the trasfer, and that the Brisbane should leave this area immediately after the transfer is completed due to a potentially dangerous situation in this immediate vicinity." "Aye, Sir." "Bridge to transporter room 1. Prepare to receive two officers from the Brisbane, and request both officers to report to me on the Bridge as soon as they are aboard." =/\=Aye, Captain.=/\= Susan smiled. It would be good to see T'Larah again. And a new Science officer was a definite plus too. (Reply Ahmed, T'Larah, Andrew, Any) (Posted by Liz) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Medical Quarantine - CMO Lt (jg) Josh Caskie and Ensign (jg) Kitty Fisher - 1934) Josh kept pacing up and down the room. Everyone had been cleared from quarantine but Josh had thought it prudent, rather than walk her patient thought the ship, that the both of them remain in quarantine where eventually they could both be beamed directly to the surgery suite that was being set up. Josh knew that it would take a while to set it up, but she also knew that she had a limited amount of time to perform the surgery, hence Josh's pacing. Various members of her staff had stopped by hoping to welcome her home and, to be honest, had gone away again with a flea in their ear. Josh, normally so easy going, had snapped at each and everyone of them, no doubt sending them scurrying off to either Henna Star or Kitty to ask if they were sure that it was indeed Josh and not some weird alter Josh that had been beamed up by mistake. After having probably alienated most of her staff, Josh finally had enough. Crossing to the communicator Josh simply thumped it with her fist and shouted. "KITTYYYYYYYYYYYYY" Kitty having already been questioned by various staff members about the CMO had finally almost snapped herself and most of the staff were giving her a wide berth and simply following her orders to the letter as she fired them out. Just as Kitty had the final confirmation that the suite had been set up she heard her name being called, if called could even be the right word to use. It wasn't a scream and it wasn't a wail. It was more of a 'You better have what I need right now.' kind of scream and Kitty and Kawalski hot footed it back into the Quarantine Facility. There was Josh, looking like she wanted to punch her way through the walls and Kitty hitting the comm on her side quickly told Josh that everything was set. Josh didn't waste any time. "Right I need a minimal operating staff in there to help me and they all have to be volunteers. One other doctor and two surgical nurses, and no, before you both ask, one of you has to stay behind. I will not accept both of you. Kitty I am sorry, I need you with me. Kawalski, you are in charge of the nurses until further notice. Report to Dr Henna-Star. She is in charge until.......... Josh tailed off there and eventually sighed. Oh lord Kawalski, you know what I mean. If anything bad happens Henna-Star takes over as CMO and you are Head Nurse." As Kawalski walked away Josh sighed and looked out through the barrier at Kitty. "Ok, Kitty Cat, let's get this show on the road please. (No reply needed) (Posted by Marilyn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - Lt. T'Larah Sullivan & Ensign Andrew Maddox - 1936) A short walk and a 'lift ride brought the pair to the bridge. Stepping out of the blissfully quiet turbo lift T'Larah looked around and saw that the Captain wasn't on the bridge. "She must be in the ready room. This way Ensign." she said leading him to the ready room as he followed. The chime sounded on the other side of the door. (Reply Captain Rivers) The door whooshed open at the senior officers command and both junior officers entered the Captain's Fortress of Solitude. T'Larah glance over at Ensign Maddox ensuring that he too was assuming the position of attention and he was. Head and eyes forward. "You wanted to see us, Sir?" she inquired. (Reply Captain Rivers) (Posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Ready room - CO- Captain Susan Rivers- 1938) Susan was reviewing the report that she would soon be submitting to Star Fleet command on their actions here at Davros III with a sense of dread. There really wasn't any easy way to tell the Fleet Commander that you had decided to support a plan that would leave a rich mining colony uninhabitable and unworkable for the next 200 years. She frowned for a moment and sipped at her Rakajito. She like the other senior officers had been up since early this morning and the fatigue was beginning to show at the corner of her eyes. With a sigh, she placed the PADD on the table and massaged her temples, almost willing away the fatigue. About midway through her third circular stroke the door chime sounded. Susan sighed again placed her hands on the desk in front of her and called out "Enter." The door slid open to reveal lieutenant Sullivan and the newest arrival to the ship Ensign Maddox. Sullivan with all her candor spoke, "You wanted to see us, Sir?" Susan smiled and nodded. She was pleased to see Sullivan and suspected that the Vulcan Lieutenant was pleased to be back with her old shipmates even if she wouldn't show it. "I did Lieutenant. Please both of you have a seat." She waited for both of them to be seated before asking the generic question of, "So how was your trip aboard the Brisbane?" (reply Sullivan) "I'm very glad to see you again Mister Sullivan. And it's a pleasure to meet you Ensign Maddox. Of course, Lieutenant you will be resuming your duties as the Ship's Chief Tactical officer at once. And Mister Maddox you will be joining our science team under the command of Lieutenant Tallos." "As you may well be aware, we are in a bit of a hazardous situation here. I would feel much better if you would assume the tactical station Mister Sullivan until the situation is resolved. As for Mister Maddox, you should see the quartermaster for your billeting assignment. Your duty roster will be forwarded to you later today and will be come effective immediately. I apologize for being so short during our initial meeting ensign, but I really need to speak with the lieutenant privately. Welcome aboard, I am certain that we will have more time to get to know each other later. You are dismissed Ensign, Mister Sullivan a word concerning the current state of affairs." (reply Maddox, Sullivan) (posted by Daniel Greene) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante – Sickbay - Sec.O Ensign Ro'Dal -1935) ~Should have just stayed here!~ Ro' thought as she walked back in to Sickbay, nodded to Raschen and then headed straight to the closest Doctor. "Doctor, I have orders from the FO to work with Mister Raschen here, in safely transporting the nanites back to the Sky of Tomorrow, we will require the use of one of your portable stasis boxes and I'm afraid it will not be removed. Your advice in how to handle the hand will be much appreciated." She told the Doctor as she walked to the room it was in. (reply Raschen & Doctor) Entering, Ro' dismissed the security guard telling him he would no longer be required and to get some rest. He looked relieved and his gait was brisk as he left the room and she certainly couldn't blame him, the hand gave her the creeps and she'd hoped she'd seen the last of it, before she went down to the planet. Ro' eyed the hand warily, remembering the one that almost clawed out her eyes on the Sky of Tomorrow. "Well, there it is Mister Raschen. The hand of gruesome death."
