She made her way through sickbay into the stasis holding area and accessed some more bacteria. She divided into vials and administered it quickly, making sue that each person had somewhere to lie down in the hectic room. She then prepared the right number of antibacterial vials and placed them in her pocket. She then turned her attention to the rest of sickbay and for the first time noticed just how chaotic the place was. She saw no sign of Dr Cambridge and allowed herself a moment of worrying before she attended her first patient. In between the many patients she aided, she also administered the antibacterial agent and one by on the crew affected by the nanoprobes began to come to and move around. They all looked pale and drawn, but as they walked around, equipment didn't go haywire. Rain began readying teams as the wounded from the battle were bought in. There was also an announcement that the shuttle containing the last of the wounded had returned. Rain sent a team down to the shuttle bay to begin triage of the most seriously injured. They now had power for the medical transporters too. Rain smiled as Kahila Lono was the first of the "cured" to exit sickbay. Rain's smile turned to grief when she saw Dr Cambridge being bought in on an antigrav stretcher. She rushed to his side, tricorder already activated. Tears welled in her eyes as the results scrolled across the screen. Cambridge was barely alive, in fact he should be dead. He had very little brain activity and his heart and lungs were barely functioning. His entire body was smeared with blood and he had gaping wounds in his abdomen and back. The most immediate problem was the blood he had lost and continued to lose. She immediately set up a transfusion and set Dr Magda to regenerating the wounds. At least 4 other doctors also assisted. She turned her attention to the more serious problems. She used a cortical stimulator to try and coax his shattered synapses back in to some type of order. She went to work on his abdomen repairing the main holes in his digestive system. One kidney was beyond repair and she removed it. She also removed a large part of his liver that was riddled with holes. She placed an order for a synthetic liver to be made, just in case. She began to wipe some of the blood away from his distinguished face, hating the feeling of helplessness. DR Cambridge was under the best care possible and they had done their best to save him. Whether he would live or die was still uncertain. "Sickbay, we're taking on more passengers, prepare them for medical scans and examinations. Security to Cargo Bay One." Wearily, Rain grabbed her medkit and left sickbay. (Reply any) (Posted by Wendy Keen) USS Spectre, Felicity's quarters, 11:00 Felicity had managed a couple of hours sleep ordered by counselor Lono, she had become quite fatigued concentrating all of her energy towards some of the sick, she had been relieved when Kahila had ordered her to sleep. tying back her annoyingly unruly hair she left her quarters and was heading towards the sick bay when she heard "Ensign Wells, Lono here." Meet me in Cargo Bay 1. We're transporting a village of natives -- unexpectedly. We'll have a busy time of it, explaining that they aren't being kidnapped by aliens -- rather they're being rescued from the Xenolithe who are planting depth explosives." replied Felicity. Felicity Met two security officers on her approach to the Cargo bay, they both acknowledged her with a nod then all three hurried into Cargo Bay one. Only Seconds after entering a woman and two small children were beamed into the Cargo Bay. Felicity walked over to them maintaining a calmness so's not to frighten the woman and her children. Leading them to a quiet corner of the Cargo Bay, she settled them on the floor and began talking the the small family in soothing tones. Before long Felicity's group had grown, and she began to explain what was happening. They didn't seem to distressed and the children actually seemed to be enjoying themselves, ~if we can maintain calmness amongst the women the children will treat it as an adventure~ Felicity's thoughts were broken "Ensign, make sure that a replicator is made available. We'll need basic meals, made according to their dietary needs. As soon as their medical scans are complete." She organised her group and got them ready to be led to the sickbay. Lono nodded to an officer she had heard being addressed as Pierce. Before Pierce began moving Felicity addressed him. "I take it you'll be fine for a while with these Villagers, I have something I need to do, I'll be back shortly" and with that she was gone in search of a replicator, it wouldn't be long before the youngsters became hungry. Though she had nearly recuperated from the high fever induced to destroy the nanocluster, she lacked her usual strength and resilience. She focused her mind for several moments on her breathing excercises, then opened her eyes as the Sickbay com announced the return of the shuttle bearing the last of the injured. She hurried to oversee the exit of med techs with antigrav stretchers, and their re entry with the injured. Kahila was horrified to see Dr. Cambridge brought in. ~It's hard to accept, to realize, he may not be surivive. I can't imagine the Spectre Sickbay without him.~ She was touched to see Dr. Anderson administering to him, her expression registering professional concern, yet Kahila could, without effort, read her emotional response. As Kahila left Sickbay for the Bridge, she was gratified to see the recovered CSO not far behind her. (USS Spectre, Bridge, Kahila Lono,11:25) Kahila nodded her understanding to Captain Remae, and sat down in her accustomed place, tapping her com badge, communicating with the varied departments, asking for confirmation that all crew were aboard. Finally she asked, "Lt. Major Drizzt, Lono here. Are all your troops accounted for?" (reply Drizzt) When Ensign Octan came onto the Bridge and began his report to the Captain, Kahila was near enough that she could not help but listen. When he finished with: "Captain, I think they may have been trying to blow the entire planet up, just to get at us! But just one team wouldn't have been able to achieve this. There mut be others out there! Captain, we either need to find and destroy them or get out of here as fast as we can!" "Captain," Kahila interjected, "There are villages of people living on the surface. Even though the Xenolithe have shown no interest in them, this plan of the Xenolithe would obviously be deadly to them." (reply Remae, Octan) Posted by Josephine Goodman (USS Spectre: Cargo Bay 1 -- Lt. Orde -- 1125) Pierce Orde shook his head as he looked down to the discarded engineering tricorder on the floor -- it was open and running normally. In fear of the nanocluster affecting something vital, he had quickly come to the cargo bay after boarding ship, waiting there.. ~What?~ he thought, bewildered. ~I thought that the damned nanocluster interfered with...~ A quick test of something very close to him would suffice -- he activated the HUD on his eyeglasses. It worked perfectly. He faintly remembered something about excessive temperatures killing the nanoclusters, and he wondered whether that had happened while he had been unconscious. Or could it have been something else? His latent empathic abilities, perhaps, 'accidentally' sending a shutoff command to the cluster? Supposing that his questions could wait, he grinned and tapped his commbadge. "Lt. Lono," he said, tapping his commbadge, "I do believe my commbadge is working." 'm down in the cargo bay -- shut myself in here just in case -- and I'll report to sickbay for a once-over before coming up to the bridge." (Reply Kahlia) (Posted by Lenox) (USS Spectre, Bridge, Kahila Lono, 11:25) Kahila seated herself, preparing for lift-off. When her combadge beeped, she opened communication, and heard Pierce's voice. =^=Lt. Lono,I do believe my commbadge is working.=^= Kahila smiled, then, recalling that Pierce had not yet received medical treatment for the nanocluster, felt puzzled. "You might try using tricorders or other equipment. Actually, there were moments I could use a commbadge while I was infected, though for only a brief period, before the strangeness kicked in. Where are you now?" "I'm down in the cargo bay -- shut myself in here just in case -- and I'll report to sickbay for a once-over before coming up to the bridge." "Stay put for now, Pierce, lift-off is approximately five minutes from now." After Kahila's conversation with the Captain regarding the natives, she watched through the main viewport as the ship rose up past the walls of the ravine, tilted, and moved through the atmosphere. Not for the first time, she felt admiration for L'Tal's flight skills. Then she said, "Captain, with your permission I'll oversee the accomodations for the natives." When that was granted, she went from the Bridge to the turbolift, and while enroute, tapped her combadge, saying "Ensign Wells, Lono here." reply Wells "Meet me in Cargo Bay 1. We're transporting a village of natives -- unexpectedly. We'll have a busy time of it, explaining that they aren't being kidnapped by aliens -- rather they're being rescued from the Xenolithe who are planting depth explosives." reply Wells Kahila then tapped the com again, for Pierce, saying "Pierce, stay where you are, and have two Security Officers join you. Momentarily the first beam-ups of natives will arrive. They'll be confused, and afraid, which may lead to violent confrontation. I'm on my way." When Kahila entered Cargo Bay 1, she barely had time to brief Pierce further, when three natives appeared in the center of the Bay. Kahila hurried forward, and introduced herself. Pierce rushed to restrain one of the men, as Kahila told them their situation. A few moments later, Fecliticy Wells and two Security Officers came through the bay doors. When a woman and two children were beamed in, Felicity calmed them and led them to a corner of the Bay. The next person to beam aboard was the head man of the village, who had spoken with both L'Tal and Captain Remae the day before. Kahila was relieved that this made her explanation somewhat easier. The village leader then helped to acclimate the rest of his people. Kahila opened the com to Ensign Octan, and said, "Good work, Ensign. Everyone's accounted for. Now we'll need to beam in as much of their personal belongings as possible. And assign one of the Science Officers to investigate possible relocation sites, along the subspace river." reply Octan Kahila then moved to where Felicity Wells was speaking with a small group of villagers, and said to her, "Ensign, make sure that a replicator is made available. We'll need basic meals, made according to their dietary needs. As soon as their medical scans are complete." Then she said, in a louder voice, "Please, everyone, fall into line. We'll do medical evaluations in our Sickbay. The Security Officers will guide you." She nodded to Pierce, and he led the way through the bay doors. reply any posted by Josephine Goodman (USS Spectre: Cargo Bay One - Lt. Pierce cut off the comm and put in a quick call for two Security personnel to come down to the cargo bay. Just then, Kahlia came in and briefed the somewhat confuzzled security chief. The assistance counselor followed the two security people into the bay. Quickly briefing his own men, he watched and waited, letting the first officer take care of matters -- he was only there to take action if it got ugly. After a short while Kahlia made her speech and nodded to Pierce. Understanding completely, he nodded in reply. ~Kahlia,~ he thought to her, ~I think I'm cured of that nanocluster. Don't know how, yet, but I'm sure it's inactive.~ (Reply Kahlia) The security chief made a hand signal to his officers, who took up the rear of the procession. Then, he led the group of natives to sickbay. (Reply Kahlia, any) (Posted by Lenox) (USS Spectre, Bridge, CO, Captain Remae - 11.29) =^= All systems are at go, sir. Impulse is go. "Ah, Ensign Maber, you're awake. Care to explain your little escapade?", said the Bajoran, letting the Ensign talk while the ship was prepared for launch. "Captain, there's something you should know. I tracked a group of Xenolithe, thinking that they were doubling behind the Spectre to try and infiltrate our lines. But, they weren't soldiers, sir, they were engineers or something. They carried a collapsible phaser cannon or disruptor of some sort, obviously designed to be portable and easily assembled. They were attempting to use it in very much the same way we used our ships' phasers - to burn a hole in the ground. Only, they were drilling, sir. They were attempting to drill a hole in the ground, straight down and then drop some sort of explosive device in it, when I interrupted them.", he said, Remae took a moment for this information to sink in, the CSO continued. "Captain, there are villages of people living on the surface. "Agreed Commander, Ensign, head down to the Transporter Room, I want you to handle the controls, and we'll beam their entire village up if we have to. CONN, prepare for launch, take us up!", he ordered and as soon as he gave the order, the Spectre began to shake as it lifted up off its cradle. "Captain Remae to Octan, Ensign begin transports as soon as possible, send our guests to Cargo Bay One.", he said the ship began to gain altitude, "Sickbay, we're taking on more passengers, prepare them for medical scans and examinations. Security to Cargo Bay One.", he said into the communications system, just as the Spectre engaged its impulse engines and accelerated towards the villages of the ingenious population. (Reply from Octan, Longfellow, Lono, Pierce, Anderson, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre, Bridge, CONN, Lt(JG) L'Tal - 11.29) The Bridge of the Spectre was a scene of barely contained chaos. Infact, the entire ship and indeed the planet below were much the same. The advancing Xenolithe had the Federation forces on the hop and they were best to disrupt the Spectre's escape. L'Tal listened intently to the Captain and CSO's discussion as he prepared the ship for take off, getting a ship the size of the Spectre off a planet's surface was easier said than done. It wasn't long before the CO gave the order and L'Tal skillfully lifted the vessel off the surface of the planet. Once the Spectre had gained sufficient altitude L'Tal engaged the impulse engines and set a direct course for the indigenous (NRPG:ingenious? - LOL) villages. (Reply Any) (Posted by Ian Walker) --- (USS Spectre - Sickbay, CSO Ensign Octan Maber, 11:30) Octan awoke, alert this time. A quick glance told him where he was - Sickbay. He looked around him and saw crewmembers carrying in wounded. Most were unfamiliar to him, but he immediately recognised the one on the bed next to him. What could've done that? Dr Cambridge was in a bad state - he was clearly being kept alive by the stasis field Octan could see shimmering about his shredded body. Forcing himself to look away from the grissly sight, Octan sat up. No-one seemed to notice him - they were either too injured themselves or busy tending wounded. He swung his legs from the bed and stood up, shaking off a momentary dizziness as he headed for the door. He entered the corridor outside Sickbay and the door slid shut behind him. The corridor was crowded - more wounded were lining the walls, obviously not needing immediate attention. He threaded his way through them and headed for the turbolift. "Computer, locate Captain Remae." <> "Bridge," Octan said as the turbolift doors slid shut behind him. (USS Spectre - Bridge, CSO Ensign Octan Maber, 11:40) Octan stormed onto the bridge, scanning the room for the Captain. Remae was seated in his command chair, listening to a status report from Engineering. As Ensign Longfellow finished his report, Octan approached Remae: "Captain," he started. "Ah, Ensign Maber," Remae replied, accenting Octan's first name, "you're awake. Care to explain your little escapade?" "Captain," Octan tried again, "there's something you should know. I tracked a group of Xenolithe, thinking that they were doubling behind the Spectre to try and infiltrate our lines. But, they weren't soldiers, sir, they were engineers or something. They carried a collapsable phaser cannon or disruptor of some sort, obviously designed to be portable and easily assembled. Captain, we either need to find and destroy them or get out of here as fast as we can!" Octan was sweating, despite the climate control. It was different saying it out loud. Somehow the danger seemed more real. He knew he could probably find the other demolition teams by scanning the planet for the most optimal drill sites, but that would take time and they may not have enough. He really hoped that the Captain would just get the Spectre back in space. Of course, there would still be the Xenolithe ships to contend with then. (Reply Remae, Any) (Posted by Arnaud Malherbe) (USS Spectre, Nacelle, ACEO, Ensign(jg) Hank Longfellow - 11:30) Hank winced in almost Physical pain as he watched the systems kick into higher levels. Hissing in a breath he heard the soft low groans and moans of the ship as it almost seemed to stretch out once more like a creature after a long winter's sleep. "Come on come on.. up just a little," he whispered softly as his breath created a light fog on the inside of his helmet. They systems inside of it quickly removed the water vapor once more and silently Hank wished his sudden anxiety could be gone just as simply. "Ens Longfellow to Main Engineering, watch those portside generators on the SIF," he said as he called up the readings on the display before him. Taking control of the power grid for a moment he transferred over a small portion of what little was extra to those systems to keep up with the draw they were placing upon the EPS. Turning his badge off for a moment he checked over systems once more and found a notice that power for the transporters was going to be required. "Shhh it's okay," he hushed as he gently patted the side of the workstation after the ship seemed to shudder slightly. "Almost home.. almost back to where you belong it's okay," he shushed the vessel tenderly. =/\= "Main Engineering to Ens Longfellow," =/\= came a voice over the communications system. "Longfellow here.. ," Hank said almost absently as he touched the LCARS to shunt more power towards the transporters then frowned and added a quick maintenance notice to the medical department that at the next opportunity the buffers be cleaned and checked over. Oddly it was one of the situations where departmental responsibilities overlapped. =/\= "We're being told to transfer all cargo from Cargo Bay one and er.. we may need the turbolifts online," =/\= explained the person on the other end of the channel. "Acknowledged, there shouldn't be much in there as we were asked to keep that one clear but transfer what needs moving to where ever you can ditch the stuff," Hank said with a slight frown as he reached his hand up and bumped the faceplate of his SEWG as he attempted to wipe the sweat from his brow. Pausing he glanced at the readings for his heart rate then shook his head at how much they'd increased. "Keep the lifts off except for medical emergencies unless it's another emergency," he started to say as he checked the turbolift systems. =/\= "Er.. it is another emergency," =/\= the man explained. =/\= "And I'll have someone get onto moving stuff out ASAP," =/\= the crewman stated. "You go down there and see to it put the Vulcan woman who's been watching the fields on the desk," Hank ordered as he went through the systems menu and noticed that most of the lifts were now being accessed and put back online. "Damn it," he cursed softly through gritted teeth. =/\= "Tah'les is watching the fields right now as you requested earlier and I can't do cargo operations currently," =/\= the crewman explained. "Why can't you," Longfellow asked firmly as his fingertips hovered over the buttons to turn the lifts back off then paused to check the side of the master display. With a frown he found multiple requests for the lifts to be powered back up two groups especially got his attention of medical priority and Ops requirements. Almost punching the screen with his fingertips he turned the lift display off from his station. If they were going to be using up the energy he needed instead of walking or climbing he didn't want to have to watch it happen. =/\= "Er um the ACEO left a notation that I not be assigned to cargo duty until I've been run through a few simulations..er.. sir," =/\= the voice said worriedly and Hank groaned. With eyes closed he shook his head for a moment only to notice that the transporters were being used more and more. "Fine. Assign an engineering team to it, out," Hank said flatly before checking the levels for the transporters. More and more people were being beamed up and transporter operators were being called to duty away from other assignments. "What in the name of my fading sanity are these people doing.. beaming up the Xenolithe," Hank asked as he looked at the numbers of those onboard. They were starting to.. no they were beyond the number of crew they'd started out with. The chemicals keeping him moving along with the frustration at the situation were also making him irritable and he paused to calm down a moment just before another flag went off to show a small increase in replicator usage. Each little tapping of the ship's power on its own didn't really matter but together they could add up to a problem. "Ens Longfellow to Engineering," Hank said calmly. =/\= "Hey, it's been a while since we talked last," =/\= said the crewman on the other side trying to break the tension a little. "According to the readings coming in we're beaming up a small army and either issuing them uniforms or feeding them," Hank stated as he ignored the greeting. =/\= "Yes sir," =/\= the man said with slight confusion in his voice at why he was being asked the question he was asked. "Get one of the Orde's on the desk..," Hank started to say then was cut off. =/\= "Er.. one's on the Warp drive and the other is on the cloak I could find the security one for you if you'd like sir," =/\= the crewman offered. "Only if he stuns you..," Hank muttered to himself. =/\= "Um.. excuse me sir," =/\= the crewman asked as the com system only barely picked up a few words here an there from Hank's mutterings. =/\= "That last part was garbled." =/\= "Nevermind, I'll check on it myself, out," Hank said before cycling through the notices on the master display. He moaned as he read one. "We're picking up a village," asked of no one as he shook his head. "Next they'll want to tractorbeam the planet and take that too," he grumbled as he started to work to wring each and every ounce of power he could from the various generator systems. If he could have tapped into the holodeck grid then he'd have stolen all he could from that as well to keep the ship in the air and running. However the engineer kept his silence. If the rest of the departments needed the power then they'd have it and like it or not he'd find some way to pull it off. He noticed however with some relief that they were moving away from the landing zone. The Cradle would be overrun quickly with no one there of that he had no doubt but at least he wouldn't have to supplement the systems there with the ship's power. (reply any ) (Posted by Mark) <>
