Stardate: 2406.11.10 (USS Spectre: Security Office – TAC/SC/2O Pierce Horatio Orde -17.44) Pierce’s commbadge chirped insistently. =/\=Ensign Banowsky to Lt. Commander Orde.=/\= Orde tapped his commbadge. “Orde here. Go ahead, Ensign.” =/\=Sorry if I am bothering you sir, I'm compiling a list of materials we still need from Geneva. But since you’re being thorough and calling me up to see if there was anything I’d forgotten, see if you can’t get a few spare phaser power cells for the main array. Also put priority to acquiring materials for Science, especially in the sensor department. Is that all, Ensign?” (Reply Banowsky) (Posted by Lenox) (USS Spectre-Bridge-Ensign Will Banowsky-17.45) =^=Ensign, I compiled those requisition orders over an hour ago. Also put priority to acquiring materials for Science, especially in the sensor department. Is that all, Ensign?=^= "Yes sir, that is all. I will make sure you get what you need by tomorrow." Will replied. He then began adding things to his list making sure he got everything. It was a slow day for him, a very slow day. There wasn't much more for him to do besides monitoring repairs and to him that sounded "riveting." But he had gotten almost a complete list. ~I can't wait until we get away from Geneva.~ (reply none) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre - 10-Forward - ACMO Bently - 1800) Warren looked up from his reading and glanced around the room. ~I really need to get to know some of these people, if only I had the courage to go say hello.~ Warren really resented all the happy groups of people he saw, he felt like he would never be able to experience the feeling of being accepted in a group. He would always be stuck on the outside looking in. Finishing his reading Warren thought he would check back in Sickbay and see if they needed anything before he called it a night. (posted by Paul) (USS Spectre - Sickbay - ACMO Bently - 1830) Warren walked into sickbay and over to Dr. Williams. "Need a hand with anything?" (Reply Williams) (reply Williams, any) (posted by Paul) (USS Spectre - Sickbay - CMO - Williams - 1833) "Need a hand with anything?" Andrew looked up at Bently. I'm doing the night shift so you can go if you want." "Ok, I'll see you tomorrow then." Warren left sickbay and headed down toward his cabin. He really enjoyed the fact that his cabin was so close to sickbay, this way he knew he would never get lost trying to go home. (Posted by Paul) (USS Spectre - Warren's Quarters - ACMO Bently - 1840) Warren walked over to his desk. It he had yet to write home since he had left Earth for the Mystique, and he was sure his parents were wondering what happened to their son. Warren sat down at the console and began to write, though he found trouble getting the works out. He had never been close to his parents. They had always put their work above spending time with their children. He wasn't even sure his parents where proud of the life he had chosen for himself, seeing as he had chosen a life in medicine instead of becoming a spacedock engineer like them. It took Warren about an hour, but he finally had a letter home that he felt was appropriate. Even though it was still early Warren decided to turn in for the night. "Computer could you wake me up at 0400 hours please?" The computer beeped its affirmative reply and Warren climbed into his bed and headed off to sleep. (reply any, none) (Posted by Paul) (USS Spectre-Sickbay- CMO - Williams-20.26) "You haven't missed much. Nothing but repairs going on. Nothing fabulous or fun. Just your average repairs going on. I spent most my day running system diagnostics." Andrew nodded. "Sounds like you are having more fun than me." "Well doctor, I'd like to thank you, it’s good to know that I am in good health. I'm going on my way now. If you need anything let me know." Andrew grinned "No problem Will. I'll keep you informed. It’s good to put a finally but a name to a face." He saw Will turned around and headed out of sickbay. ~Well that was a nice break. lets get back to work~ (reply Banowsky, Any) (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre, Crew Quarters – Ensign Alexander MacDonald – 2354) “Computer, I want to record a time-delayed message.” The computer acknowledged his command, and Alexander took the opportunity to settle further back into his chair. A chronic insomniac, he was just beginning to settle for the evening, his customary glass of sherry at his side. “My dear lady, by now I’m sure that you will recognize the sound of my voice, and I’m equally certain that you will recoil in fear and horror. I ask only that you listen to the end of this message, and then if it is your wish to destroy me then you will have the means to do so. You may even ignore me and bear no further action in this matter, although to merely abandon me in such a manner would wound me so great as to destroy me. Of that there can be no doubt. “The events aboard the Mystique did not go the way I had hoped or planned. It was my aim to draw your attention, for how else could one such as I engage the desires of the veritable goddess I see you in but through the subtle teasing and tempting of the mind. “You are fascinating, and you are fascination. You are beauteous nature, a microcosm of chaotica itself caught in the brilliance of your own light, destined to outshine the stars.” Absent-mindedly, Alexander wiped a tear from his eye as he took another sip from his glass before continuing. “As I said, you have the means to destroy me, or you may simply do nothing – be assured that I will never trouble you again if such is your wish. Alternatively, you also have the means to find me. “I shall await your response with fondness and respect. “Computer, code message for delivery to Doctor Tanya Leigh Dervin.” (Reply Dervin) (Posted by Michael Drake) Stardate: 2406.11.11 (USS Spectre-Personal Quarters-Ensign Will Banowsky-00.15) Will laid in his bed staring at the ceiling. He had been laying in bed for about an hour and he was having trouble going to sleep. He didn't know why. He had slept fine for the first four days or so onboard the Spectre. But why couldn't he sleep now. He knew he needed the sleep. He had been so stressed on the way to Geneva that he just needed some rest. But he couldn't sleep in his room. He didn't know why he was being plagued with this bout of insomnia. It was most likely due to stress. He got out of bed and walked to a table in his room. He looked over at the picture of his family and smiled. He missed them a lot. He didn't know the next time he would see them. He hated that. He wanted to be by them. He wanted to talk to them. However, that wasn't going to happen anytime soon. He walked over and put on some clothes and put his commbadge. He needed to get out of the room. He needed to go somewhere where he could be alone in his thoughts, that wasn't covered with memorabilia of his life back home. He wanted to be with his family. He wanted to show them why he wasn't a failure. Perhaps that’s why he entered Starfleet, to show them that he could do something meaningful with his life. Make them proud of him. Will looked at the picture of his family. He picked it up, kissed it and sat it back down. He then walked to his bed grabbed a pillow and a blanket and headed to the door. ~I hope the captain doesn't mind if I sleep somewhere else on the ship.~ "Computer, send a message to Ensign Ronsworth." He said, "Garry, I’ve decided to work out in my room, doing some pushups or something. Perhaps we can lift weights another time." <> Will then exited his room. (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Evangeline-Command Compartment-Ensign Will Banowsky-00.30) Will had entered the Evangeline and laid down. He went to the one place he felt he could be alone in his thoughts. A place on the ship, but not. A place where he knew he could be alone in his thoughts. Hopefully here he could fall asleep. "Computer set alarm for 06.30 to commbadge of Ensign Will Banowsky" <> Will then stared at the ceiling. He closed his eyes. He needed a place where he felt comfortable, and he felt comfortable in the shuttle. A place where he was in control. A place where he could do the one thing he loved most. He thought about all the things he wanted to with his life. Be a captain of a starship, be a partner in a law firm. ~It's all pointless. All pointless. I need to stop focusing on the coulda shoulda wouldas in life. I need to just relax. The counselor was right. I’m having trouble getting used to life here in the stars. I need to just relax~ Slowly but surely. Will fell asleep. What's going on?" Shane asked. “I’ve had a meeting with the Admiral and we’ve received our orders. We’re to proceed to Sector 24613 and toward a Class Y Star, where, unusual sensor readings could indicate a ship or ships in the area, we’ve been ordered to sneak in and have a good look around.” "Why 'sneak' sir?" “You’ve heard of a Class Y planet, they are rare but they are nasty, the Class Y star is the same only 1000s of times worse, sensors will be useless until we get close.” Remae handed a PADD to the First Officer. “The Engineering Teams at Geneva have repaired the ship, replaced the phasers and I’ve scheduled a departure of the ship at 10.00, where we’ll warp out a few light years and play, ‘Hunt the Banowsky’.”, Remae smiled before continuing, “We’ll test the phasers, the cloak and some of the other vital systems. If all goes well, we’ll have an Officer Briefing and I’ll explain the orders and set some of the tasks we’ll need to get done before arrival.” "Sounds like fun!" replied from Shane. “Commander, prepare the Tactical Test, get Ensign Banowsky up to speed, alert Mr. Orde and you two can design the game we’ll play to test the Spectre. I’ll talk to Engineering and make sure the cloak and everything else is prepared.”, Remae was done for now but he gave the FO a chance to ask any questions. “Any questions, Commander?" "No sir, none." “Carry on.” "Aye sir!" Shane left the Ready Room. (Reply CO (iyw), Any) (Posted by Andrew Brannigan) (USS Spectre, Outside Counsellor's Office, CO, Captain Remae Ktell - 08.45) Remae had visited departments all over the ship except for the Counsellor, wether or purpose or not realizing it, he'd been avoiding the new Counsellor. Apparently, Ensign Lronen had been interviewing crew all over the ship, carrying out his orders professionally. The CO sighed as he pressed the annunciator. Buzzzzneeegh, said the door, unhelpfully. Sounded like the Counsellor was busy, they needed a red light on the door so passing crew would know when the Counsellor was occupied. He backed away, the door was refusing to open and the CO, half relived half disappointed, left and returned to the Bridge. He would have to make his appointment like everyone else or wait for the Counsellor to contact him. (posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre, Bridge, CO, Captain Remae Ktell - 09.00) The Bridge was alive with activity, as the crew prepared the ship for departure which was scheduled for 10.00. Remae took the Captain's Chair and observed the crew at work, outside the Spectre, the Starbase crew were busy disassembling the framework and the lights that had illuminated the ship while she was worked on. The core wasn't online as of yet, the lack of blue plasma in the nacelles was evident and apart from that, the cloak was offline; however Remae felt the ship was ready and he headed for his Ready Room and left the crew to prepare the ship. "I've been stationed on board sir, umm, I am an um engineering officer sir. Umm, I ummm, here for my assignment sir. What do I need to do?" "At east Ensign, before you injure yourself.", Remae turned and consulted the database, he wasn't expecting further crew assignments for the Spectre but a record of the orders had just been entered into the log by Command. "You just made it Ensign, we're departing in less than an hour. Report to Engineering and the Chief Engineer, Ensign H'Chir, I am sure he could use another pair of hands and see if you can assist in the core start up procedure and anything you can do to assist him with the Phase Cloak would be very useful. "Carry on Ensign.", said Remae before returning to his log. Grant turned around a left the room. (Posted by Will) (USS Spectre-Main Engineering-Ensign(jg) Grant Archie-09.15) Grant finally walked into engineering. He was in awe, he absolutely loved what he saw. It was to the point that he could not wait to work there. He was finally in the engineering section of an actual starship. It was like Christmas morning. After a few minutes of acting like a child in a toy store, he brought himself back to reality and began looking for the chief engineering officer. He didn't know what he looked like, only that his name was H'Chir. ~Sounds Vulcan, awesome, I get to work with a vulcan.~ However Grants enthusiasm died down when he bumped into an Andorian engineering officer, by accident of course. "OH, umm, I’m sorry, I didn't mean to bump into you. I'm looking for the Chief Engineering officer, Ensign H'chir, have you seen him." (reply H'chir) "Oh, I'm sorry sir, I didn't mean to bump into you, ummm, names Grant, I'm new, I'm an engineering officer here, on this ship, the Spectre." Grant looked at his new "boss". ~Dang, I wanted to work with a vulcan~ (reply H'chir) (reply H'Chir) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre, Main Engineering – Ensign H’Chir – 0918) H’Chir was on the prowl. For a moment he had the impression of someone entering his space, and he looked to the main doors, but they remained closed and he went back to his pacing. Some natural instinct within his staff had ensured that a bubble of silence existed in the main section of Engineering. Of course, it helped that pretty much anyone who wasn’t already engaged in repairing the ship was now staring at the problem cloaking device. A problem that had evaded every solution the assembled crew could come up with. As they approached the ninety-minute mark Ensign H’Chir was forced to consider that… "Oh, umm, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bump into you. I'm looking for the Chief Engineering Officer, Ensign H'Chir, have you seen him." Physically knocked from his train of thought, Ensign H’Chir took a moment to take in the newcomer, ensuring that his gaze carried the full measure of his annoyance. “I am H’Chir,” he said mutely. "Oh, I'm sorry sir, I didn't mean to bump into you, ummm, name’s Grant, I'm new, I'm an engineering officer here, on this ship, the Spectre." Surprise flashed across the Chief Engineer’s face, and he was startled enough to simply ask, “Since when?” The new Ensign seemed about to reply when H’Chir interrupted. “It doesn’t matter. Any good with cloaking devices?” Again, the Andorian didn’t wait for an answer, “Of course you are! There’s a group assembled downstairs, trying to make the damned thing work.” The human didn’t move, and H’Chir rolled his eyes, figuring he had been too subtle. “Go fix it, and maybe I’ll let you stay.” He allowed himself a playful wink at the clearly dumbstruck human. “Move!” The Andorian waited until his bubble of silence had been restored before tapping his commbadge too hard. He winced as the metal clawed into his chest. “Engineering to First Officer, I’ve just received a new officer; one Ensign Grant. Should I be expecting anyone else before we leave spacedock?” (Reply Grant, Schofield, any) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre-Main engineering-Ensign(jg) Grant Archie-09.20) Grant looked at his new "boss” “Since when? Move!” Grant looked at H'Chir and then quickly headed off to where he was ordered to. He headed down quickly and slowly entered the room. "And just who might you be?" he heard someone say. He looked at the woman speaking to him. He was a little bit nervous and this made it worse. "Ensign Grant Archie." he replied meekly. “You’re an engineer, yes?” "Yes, that’s why I'm down here." he said. “Good,” she purred at him. “Ever seen one of these before?” "Yeah, I studied cloaking devices in the academy." he replied. “Care to tell us how we fix it?” "Well see, in theory, I know what I'm doing, but I've never done anything in the field." (reply M'Rurrh) "Have you tried flipping the on switch?" he said with a joke. "What about a complete system shutdown of the cloaking device. Then a manual restart. If that doesn't work, we can reroute power from one of the other systems, and use the energy source as a catalyst agent to in essence jump start it." (reply M'Rurrh) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre, Cloaking Device Engineering Section – CPO M’Rurrh – 0921) She paced up and down, subconsciously mirroring her senior officer who paced his frustration away on the deck above her. But whereas he stalked with a masculine bulk and power, her steps were sharper, quicker, more vicious in their assault on the deckplates beneath her feet. “All right, so that didn’t work. Has anyone tried simply shutting the system down and rebooting?” Whether any of the crew encircling the cloaking device actually answered she never knew as at that moment someone new entered the room. She whirled to face the intruder, green eyes flashing wildly, and without giving him a chance to speak first, she demanded: “And just who might you be?” (Reply Grant, any) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre, Cloaking Device Engineering Section – CPO M’Rurrh – 0922) “And just who might you be?” The venom in her voice was clear, but nothing could prepare her for the look of open, honest bewilderment that beamed clearly out of the strangers face. ~Great! I’m even beginning to sound like H’Chir!~ She took a moment to soften her stance, letting the curve of her hips echo the curve of her lips in taking on a gentler, more seductive approach. Stepping forward and taking the newcomer by the arm, she walked him over to the central read-outs on the cloaking device. “You’re an engineer, yes?” (Reply Grant, if desired) "Good,” she purred at him. “Ever seen one of these before?” (Reply Grant) “Care to tell us how we fix it?” (Reply Grant, any) (posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre, Cloaking Device Engineering Section – CPO M’Rurrh – 0923) "Well see, in theory, I know what I'm doing, but I've never done anything in the field." Right now we’re all fed up with looking at the damned thing.” "Have you tried flipping the on switch." The ensign smiled nervously before venturing a second thought. "What about a complete system shutdown of the cloaking device. Then a manual restart. If that doesn't work, we can reroute power from one of the other systems, and use the energy source as a catalyst agent to in essence jump start it." “Sounds good to me. "Shutdown initialized, shutdown in five, four, three, two, one. Shutdowns complete." Grant then looked over at M'Rurrh. "Well then shall we begin the manual restart?" (reply M'Rurrh) "Alright, beginning Manual restart. Lets hope this works." (reply M'Rurrh) (Posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre, Deck 15, Jeffries Tube – Ensign H’Chir – 0930) Stepping into his box, H’Chir laid out his toolkit before him. Inwardly he relished the silence as the sub-sonic thrum of the warpdrive filtered through his system in its purest form. Within his mind he traced the power waveguides and EPS relays that ran through the nearby bulkheads. And finally, he set to work. Time passed quickly, although at first there were no obvious signs of his achievements. Some twenty minutes later he was interrupted once more by the sound of his communicator. =/\=M’Rurrh to H’Chir. We’ve shutdown and restarted the cloaking device three times now, and there’s been no change. We’re about to try directing power from another system to kick-start the cloak’s internal power relays.=/\= Weary from his own work, and somewhat in sympathy at the frustration and weariness in M’Rurrh’s, the Andorian simply answered. “Acknowledged. Draw power from the auxiliary impulse generators. I’m on my way.” Closing the channel, H’Chir began packing his things away and headed back to the engineroom. (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre, Cloaking Device Engineering Section – CPO M’Rurrh – 0950) Twenty minutes after taking the cloaking device offline, M’Rurrh and her team of engineer’s were still baffled by the cloak’s stubborn refusal to operate ‘normally’. She didn’t even look up as the captain announced they were leaving spacedock, although as she turned back to the group she forced another smile onto her lips and said, “Come on, we’re running late and you know how cranky the Chief can be.” This produced a round of embarrassed smirks and eventually someone said “We’re ready.” Turning to the new boy, she winked and said, “Go ahead, Charlie.” (Reply Grant, any) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre, Sickbay, CMO - Williams-09.52) Andrew glanced over the supply list one final time. ~We’re ready for anything~ =^= All decks, all departments, this is the Captain, prepare your stations for departure. =^= "Looks like we are off." They had tried his first plan three times without success. Hopefully his second plan would work. He had never seen a real cloaking device, although he had studied them constantly. This was a new experience. He was afraid that if this idea failed that Ensign H'Chir would not trust him on any other projects. The Chief Engineering officer had just announced that he was on his way, and Grant was beginning to get sweaty. He was so nervous that he didn't even heat the captain announce that they were pulling out of spacedock. Grant immediately began working on 'Plan B' and preparing everything for the power transfer. Once the rest of the engineers had said that they were ready M'Rurrh looked at him. “Go ahead, Charlie.” "The name is Grant Archie. Anyways, I'm preparing a stream of power to be transferred into the cloaking device. This is a similar to a process used on vehicles in the 21st century where they would jump start the battery of a vehicle." (reply M'Rurrh or H'Chir) Grant then looked at the Andorian who had just emerged. "Didn't see you there sir." (reply H'Chir) "Preparing to initialize power transfer in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...initialized." Impulse power pushed the ship out of her dock and slowly through the vast shipyards of the Spacedock, out of the hangar and into open space without incident and a few moments later the Spectre was clear of the immediate traffic around the Starbase. "Full impulse, heading 275 Mark 15, take us .2 light years and hold position.", he ordered Ensign Banowsky and as the course was entered he turned to Commander Orde and Commander Schofield. "Commanders, as soon as you are ready, prepare Mr Banowsky for the simulated battle, we'll launch his runabout as soon as we reach our destination. I'll leave the details in your hands." (Reply from Schofield and Orde) Remae sat back down in his Command Chair, the Spectre was underway again and it felt good to be out in space once more, as Remae turned his attention to the Tactical Exercise that was coming up. (Reply from Schofield, Orde, Archie, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre, Main Engineering – Ensign H’Chir – 0956) H’Chir strode through the door of his domain just as the announcement came through the intercom: =/\=All decks, all departments, this is the Captain. Prepare your stations for departure. Engineering, ready impulse power.=/\= A glance was enough to confirm that someone was already working on that order, and although he was certain noone else able to sense it H’Chir relished the thrill that stirred within him as he felt the ship getting underway. He descended the ladder into the cloaking device’s arena just in-time to here M’Rurrh’s feline drawl purr, “Go ahead, Charlie.” (Reply Grant, any) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office, COUNS, Ensign {SG} Divon Lronen - 0956) Divon was taking a few moments for himself, enjoying a raktajino. He had programmed some of the missing blends into the replicator during some of his off time. Divon began to sense a growing excitement from the rest of the crew the psychic pattern was overwhelming, he had 'felt' this before. The intercom confirmed his suspicions a few minutes later. =^=All decks, all departments, this is the Captain, prepare your stations for departure.=^= Divon sighed and walked through his office door toward the turbolift. ~Typical.~ he thought. The Captain had told him he wanted him on the bridge at appropriate times, but then didn't tell him about imminent departure until the last minute. The swirl of emotions coming from the crew was intense: excitement, fear, sorrow over leaving friends on the station. These were all things that could impact the running of the vessel. With that thought in mind, Divon walked into the turbolift. (Posted by Jeff) (USS Spectre, Bridge, COUNS, Ensign {SG} Divon Lronen - 0959) Divon walked onto the bridge of the USS Spectre for the first time. It was definitely sleeker and more streamlined than the USS Trail of Tears, that was hardly surprising. Even less surprising was that he wasn't familiar with this bridge configuration. After all, this was the prototype. Divon crossed the bridge to the traditional Counsellor’s chair to the left of the Captain and sat down. He looked at Captain Remae. ~Just like a kid in a candy store.~ he thought. "Hello Captain, I believe this is where you expected me to be, at least at some points during our missions?" asked Divon evenly. (Reply Remae) Divon nodded and watched the bridge crew work. He allowed himself to 'feel' emotions but screened out their individual thoughts. That way if there was a problem, he could pinpoint it easily and alert the captain to it. Otherwise, he was allowing them their privacy and not interfering with their efficiency. "For the most part, they are very calm and professional. You have a good crew. They trust you," stated Divon to the Captain, "Some of the newer members have a bit of fear tinged with their excitement, but that would be normal. I'd say you have a few daredevils which should probably be watched, perhaps a few that a nice quiet duty on a listening post would suit better." The later was in reference to a couple of emotions that screamed abject terror about the prospect of being onboard this starship and exiting port. Probably brand new crew members who were just now starting to consider the danger of what they were embarking on. (Reply Remae) (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) [End Compile]
