It crept in through the gap that the ship held in tact. ::Welcome Ash, I have followed you closely since you came aboard and allowed you some freedom to use my neural pathways but it is time for you to return as you were.:: Ash looked startled but eased into a more mental calmness. ::Your neural pathways?:: Ash communicated back, ::Who are you?:: Ash tryed to get a fixed link with the being and find out where they were on the ship and how they knew what was going on. Ash then sensed a fleet of gleefulness from the being... ::Goodbye Ashlitu Physioc, if you wish to become one with me again you shall have to ask permission.:: And then suddenly the link went dead and the turbolift stopped moving, ~Damn it..~ Ash entered the command for his destination and the turbolift began moving again. Ash knew if he ever did need to get back into the ship, he could do it. He had done it before, got past this beings wall, he could do it again if need be. But he would have to be in a deep meditational state. He then thought back to his message he had left Alessi, he wondered how he would explain this too her. Although he liked the idea of finding out more about her past, and this seemed an opportune moment to do it... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.04 (USS Mystique - Transporter Room 1 - AOPS/CONN, Ensign Ash Physioc - 1421) Ash stepped into the transporter room. To his surprise the Security was already there and the transport was completely finished. He moved over to where Security were blocking his view, "Ok, boys and girls. You can go back to your shifts. I can take it from here." The security personnel moved away and left the room leaving Ash standing quite be-wildered looking at Mr. Naraht. Ash cocked an eye-brow, as he looked at the Ensign.... He was strange... Ash looked at him quite surprised. He had never met this species before... Ash raised his barriers so they were up the ut-most he had ever been able to put them. He didnt know enough about this individual to know if it was strong in telepathic powers. Ash snapped out of his paranoia state and stepped forward. "Hello, Ensign Naraht? Im Ensign Physioc," Ash said realising this could be the only person on the ship that didnt know his past by now. ~A new chance to make a friend? or more of an ally?~ Ash smiled at the being, "I'm here to take down some of your more personal requirements so we can ready them for you, if its alright with you. I'll escort you to the Captain and we can discuss them on the way?" Ash inquired quickly. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.04 (USS Mystique-Transporter Room 2- Ensign Naraht (jg)-1422) Naraht felt the familiar surge and vibration of powerful energy and the transporter beam began to hum about his body. The shuttle around him faded to be replaced by a plain looking room. He found himself covering several pads on a transporter platform. There were several security staff in the room. “Bridge… we have a boulder or….. something here!” said a puzzled crewman from behind the transporter console. “Permission to come aboard?” asked Naraht, thinking to help out the puzzled crewman with normal procedure. He moved forward off of the transporter platform and levered himself down the short step slowly and carefully, so as not to startle the already addled crewman out of his wits. He obviously had not been informed about Naraht’s new assignment to this ship. “Bridge, I may have a….. problem….. here….I think!” gasped the startle crewman behind the transporter controls. ~What is the wrong with him? Have I got some moss on me somewhere? But I couldn’t. I’ve been in the shuttle.~ thought Naraht. “Uh, Ensign?” said one of the red shirted security men. “Any orders?” Naraht began speaking slowly and carefully facing his speaker grill toward the startled ensign. “I am Ensign Naraht junior grade. I am a Horta. I come from Starfleet Academy where I graduated with honors. I have my orders from Admiral Green. You can check with Lt. James Montgomery aboard the Magellan if you like.” Naraht paused, to give his words a moment to sink in. “Permission to come aboard sir?” repeated Naraht, hoping normal procedure would help the by now stuttering stalks in front of him. The doors to the transporter room opened and a very tall stalk came in moving quickly. "Ok, boys and girls. You can go back to your shifts. I can take it from here." The security personnel moved away and left the room, leaving the tall robed stalk looking at Mr. Naraht. His robes made a swishing noise about the stalk's long length. "Hello, Ensign Naraht? I’m Ensign Physioc. I'm here to take down some of your more personal requirements so we can ready them for you, if it’s alright with you. I'll escort you to the First Officer and we can discuss them on the way?" Ash inquired. ~Al right let’s try this again with you~ thought Naraht dryly. He spoke slowly and carefully through his vox, rumbling to shift so that his speaker grill was facing this newer taller stalk. “Yes, I am Ensign Naraht junior grade. I am a Horta. I am relieved there is someone here who knew of my arrival. Permission to come aboard?” (Reply Ash Physioc, Bridge, any) “May I say goodbye to Lt. Montgomery?” requested Naraht. “He was very kind to me and I enjoyed his company on that long shuttle flight. Oh, and he will need to have some provisions for his trip home.” (reply Ash Physioc) Naraht moved toward the crewman behind the console and circled around to it’s working side. He uncurled his longer phalange to the startled gasp of the poor benighted stalk behind the transporter console who backed away with his hands raised in confusion. Since he was only 2 and 1/2 feet tall, and the transport and communications board was much taller here than that aboard the Magellan, Naraht had to stretch up his phalange very high and raise his body partway against the console to reach the keypads. He deftly activated the panel and switched to the correct frequency and spoke. “Ensign Naraht to Magellan.” =^=Magellan, here go ahead, Mr. Naraht.=^= “I made it on board the ship just fine. Apparently some of them were not prepared for my appearance!” said Naraht. A hearty chuckle sounded from Montgomery. =^=I’ll just bet! If they didn’t know you were you and all, well I would have liked to have seen their faces. Don’t you worry none, Mr. Naraht. Your smart and you’ll show ‘em what your made of.=^= “Yes, granite! And other minerals,” said Naraht, swaying his phalange with good humor over the console. Laughter sounded again over the frequency from Montgomery. =^=Any chance I’ll be getting those provisions before I leave home for the trip back to Geneva?=^= “Yes, I will make sure that I have this transporter Ensign, who is currently cowering in fear before me, see to it that you have what you need. Goodbye Lt. James Montgomery. Travel well among the stars. Naraht out.” Naraht lowered himself flat with a sigh of relief through his vox. He faced his speaker grill toward the white-faced Ensign who was recovering from his shock. “Ensign, would you be so kind as to see to it the Magellan has all the provisions that Lt. Montgomery requests for the long journey back? We did receive orders to allow Magellan to reprovision here from the Geneva space station. Check with him if you like.” The ensign gulped, becoming red-faced. “Y…yes, er, uh, I can do that. I’ll talk to him.... right away. I’m very sorry Ensign Naraht, but no one told me that you looked like a…..you were a…. that you were….you!” Embarrassed, the ensign looked around the room in desperation as if help were to arrive from the ceiling by a wormhole opening up and swallowing him whole. “It’s all right, ensign,” said Naraht. “It seems to happen to me now and then. I have become resigned to being a Horta in a universe full of surprised graceful stalks.” He scooped up his closed cloth bag which had tumbled off his back. Naraht shifted again, rumbling up to the robed Ensign Physioc. “I have no other things, and I can carry my one small bag myself.” Naraht replaced his small bag back next to his vox, and after coiling away his phalange under him, he proceeded toward the transporter room door. It opened with a swoosh in front of him. "I confess, Ensign Physioc, I am feeling a bit grumpy. I'm becoming hungry. It would be adviseable that I eat something before seeing the Commander, lest I damage the floor or any bulkheads. It looks very tasty and I do not wish to begin to salivate." Narhat paused. "Take me please, to wherever you store your granite." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.04 (USS Mystique -Transporter Room 2 - AOPS/CONN - Ensign Ash Physioc -1427) “Yes, I am Ensign Naraht junior grade. I am a Horta. I am relieved there is someone here who knew of my arrival. Permission to come aboard?” The rock shaped like creature said, Ash almost fainted when he heard it speak... it was so human-esk. Ash nodded slightly and then fell back into character. "Permission Granted Mr. Naraht. Your arrival did come a little Un-expected, but what's to be said if we the Mystique can't deal with the Un-expected? I suspect the note of your arrival will arrive some time today from the Academy, just a bit later than you arrived..." Ash realised he was rather babbling slightly out of character and suddenly stopped! “May I say goodbye to Lt. Montgomery?” requested Naraht. “He was very kind to me and I enjoyed his company on that long shuttle flight. Oh, and he will need to have some provisions for his trip home.” Ash nodded, ~Who?~ He then nodded and realised she was talking about her flight operator. "His supervisions are being sorted out now. And feel free to use that console over there to contact him." Ash said as he pointed over to where the transporter guy was standing. Ash had let his defences down slightly now and could feel the embarrassment and anger coming from the man. It quite pleased him in a weird way. Naraht walked over to the console and began talking with the Shuttle. She then turned to the crewman standing next to her, asking him to sort the provisions out. Before Naraht moved to say anything more to Ash, he said "Dont worry about it crewman. The provisions are being brought down as we speak." Ash then turned back to Naraht, who was moving closer to him.... It would be advisable that I eat something before seeing the Commander, lest I damage the floor or any bulkheads. It looks very tasty and I do not wish to begin to salivate." Narhat paused. "Take me please, to wherever you store your granite." Ash cocked an eye-brow. ~Granite? Granite?~ "As for your bag Mr. Naraht you can leave it here if you wish. It will be taken to your quarters, there really no need to lug your luggage around with you... As for the granite..." Ash continued in a confused tone, He had never heard of any species that ate granite... He would be lucky if they had any stored away somewhere... He began to open his mind up and search the ship for Granite, careful not to enter any of the ship's systems as he didnt want that happening again, at least not at the moment. He found a rather medium sized amount of stored Granite materials in Cargobay 3, he didnt know why but he was sure no one would mind the Ensign taking a chunk or two out of it. When in telepathic contact he realised what he had said to Naraht earlier was wrong. He wouldn't be able to see the Captain, he would have to report to Commander Saleke. Ash stepped out into the corridor. "Follow me, Mr. Naraht. I know where we have some Granite for you" Ash said in a rather mono-tonal tuned voice. (Reply Naraht) "So i have a few questions, Your quarters - what are your needs and specifications. What exactly do you need in them?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.04 (USS Mystique -Transporter Room 2 - Asst CSO - Ensign Naraht -1428) “I have no other things, and I can carry my one small bag myself.” Naraht replaced his small bag back next to his vox, and after coiling away his phalange under him, he proceeded toward the transporter room door. It opened with a swoosh in front of him. "I confess, Ensign Physioc, I am feeling a bit grumpy. I'm becoming hungry. It would be advisable that I eat something before seeing the Commander, lest I damage the floor or any bulkheads. It looks very tasty and I do not wish to begin to salivate." Naraht paused. "Take me please, to wherever you store your granite." "As for your bag Mr. Naraht you can leave it here if you wish. It will be taken to your quarters, there really no need to lug your luggage around with you... As for the granite..." the befuddled words trailed away in a confused tone. He then paused oddly. The tall ensign stalk stepped out into the corridor. "Follow me, Mr. Naraht. I know where we have some granite for you," the tall stalk said in a monotone. Naraht followed after the oh-so-slow addlepated taller ensign stalk. "No, Ensign Physioc, I need the bag. We will need it so I can eat safely," explained Naraht, becoming impatient. "So I have a few questions," said the tall robed stalk. "Your quarters - what are your needs and specifications? What exactly do you need in them?" "I don't know that I could make it all the way to my quarters," said Naraht. ~I don't know how long I can keep going without exuding acid. All these rich, lovely metal walls, doors and floors...!~ "Please Ensign I will need at least 20 pounds or so of Ignacius and/or metamorphic rock. Granite is a very good start to that. I haven't eaten in a week. Now please, let's get moving! I am becoming desperate now. I don't wish to start my assignment here badly." "You seem as confused as that transporter stalk." Naraht stopped moving down the corridor beside the befuddled Physioc abruptly, and froze in horror. "You didn't know I was coming or that I was assigned here, did you? Oh no!" With a dawning terror, the Horta realized that no facilities had been prepared for him. "No one knew that I was coming, did they? Or what my species requirements are or that I am a Horta, did they? Did they Mr. Physioc?" The Horta rounded in panic toward Physioc. "Great Molten Lava! Why didn't you say something right away, you overgrown moronic pebble?! Hortas consume rock and minerals by exuding a highly corrosive acid to liquify it before immediate ingestion. If I exude any acid on the bulkheads or deck of this ship, it will immediately begin to dissolve anything it comes into contact with and quickly! Now lets find a large replicator right now! I have replicator program chips with me in this bag to fabricate both rock and a dish for me to eat out of. Run, Ensign! Move!" ordered Naraht, desperately. Naraht's longer phalange snapped out to grab his cloth bag from his back. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ end compile
