Riven took a long draught from his mixed drink, draining it down to the bottom of the glass before setting it aside for now and looked to be considering another. "There is one other thing I would like to speak with you about while we are here." Saleke said as he glanced down at the lemon in his glass. "Doctor Trommashere." "Ange?" Riven looked up in surprise. "What about her?" "I had a brief discussion with her before the briefing that I believed conveyed my sentiments on her value along with instructions to keep herself out of harms way in the future but there was a problem during the meeting." "Go on." Riven said, his mind apparently made up he caught the attention of the waiter again and pointed to his empty glass. The waiter nodded and moved off in the direction of the bar. "Sorry about that, now what happened?" "Some animosity between herself and Dr. Vren on her side surfaced followed by laying her head upon the table during the reports, I removed her from the briefing as a disciplinary measure." Riven propped his head upon his hand as he considered the embarassement that must have caused her followed by a sigh. "Damn it! My diagnosis is that she is a manic depressive Saleke, I started her out on medication which seemed to help followed by intensive counseling which seems not to have. At this point I suggest we go back to a continuous medication and see how she reacts to it, that's all I know to do at this point. I've been trying to reconstruct her psyche but she has an inferiority complex a mile wide, maybe if we give her some time to get over it..." "I will leave the medical details to you doctor, in the meantime however I must schedule a face-to-face meeting with the two quickly to rectify the situation before it spirals out of control and I think Ten Forward is hardly the setting for it. I should like for you to sit in on it." Riven turned and took the drink from the waiter as he arrived and whispered a thanks then turned back to Saleke. "I understand duty calls BUT I believe you're mistaken about the setting." An eyebrow grew to a point. "How so?" "These officers have been under a lot of pressure and some of them are near the breaking point, lighten up on them a bit. Call them into Ten Forward which is a much more relaxed setting and you might just very well make more progress than if you get them into an office and bawl them out." "I was not intending to 'bawl" anyone out doctor." "You know what I mean Saleke," Riven waved his hand. "You're all business and that makes people tense. If you want me to sit in I would suggest you call them here, we might just be able to come to a consensus." The Vulcan did not look convinced but acquiesced. "Very well." He tapped his combadge, " Doctor Trommashere to Ten Forward please." (Reply: Angeni) "She certainly sounded tight all right," Riven shook his head. "But what can you expect from someone who got thrown out of a meeting." Saleke nodded and tapped his combadge again. "Dr. Vren to Ten Forward please." (Reply: Marto) "Now," Riven said as he took a long draught from his glass. "That wasn't so hard was it?" Saleke shrugged as he raised the glass of water flavored with lemon to his lips, he wasn't so sure it was the best course but deferred to the counselors greater knowledge of the reactions of emotional beings and found himself hoping there was not an emotional explosion waiting in the wings. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.04 (USS Mystique - Personal Quarters - Lt Vren - 1436) Marto had gone straight back to her quarters after the briefing. After the events that had transpired she had the sense to realise that confronting Angeni right this moment would not be a good idea. So, since she had no idea if Angeni would be in Sickbay or not, her quarters seemed the best idea. Once inside she kicked off her boots, threw her padd on the desk and standing on her tiptoes stretched her arms as far above her head as she could reach, trying to ease the tension in her shoulders and back. It helped somewhat and she crossed to the replicator, trying to make up her mind whether a cup of tea would help or perhaps something stronger. Common sense won out, so with a cup of Bajoran Root Tea in her hand she sat down at her desk, notified Sickbay where she was, in case she was needed, and got down to some work. The chirp of her comm badge brought her back to her surroundings and she heard the Commander's voice page her. =/\= Dr. Vren to Ten Forward please. =/\= Tapping her own in return she replied. Acknowledged Sir. I'll be there as soon as possible." Assuming it to be a medical problem Marto grabbed her personal med kit and was almost out the door before it dawned on her that she might want to put her boots back on before she left. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.04 (USS Mystique - Deck Ten Forward- CMO Angeni O. Windsong-Trommashere - 1437) Angeni sat quietly in her room, her stuff packed and ready to go. She wanted to get off the ship as soon as humanly possible, and nothing was going to change her mind. She had placed her pips in her little pine box, and her communicator in her little box, and she was going to give them back to the commander when they got to Geneva, or at least get a shuttle and start her way there. Her eyes looked like cherries as she rubbed them again, trying to get the tears off her face. She hated Saleke with a fervent passion...and if it wasn't for the fact that she would be locked away for forever, she would do unspeakable things to him. She looked at her surroundings, realizing she was going to miss where she was at. Suddenly, she punched the wall as a flood of anger overwhelmed her, and she sat on the edge of the bed, sighing softly, sobbing quietly, when she heard Saleke's voice fill the room. " Doctor Trommashere to Ten Forward please." Angeni looked up at the ceiling, wishing she could disembowel the voice above her. "Right away sir..." ~Asshole...~ She stood up and put her pips back on, not wanting to anger the Commander any more...and she walked up to Ten Forward, her med kit in hand as she stared angrily at the floor. As she entered, anyone could feel the absolute fury, anger, and depression that came off of her. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.04 (USS Mystique - Deck Ten Forward - Lt Vren - 1438) As soon as Marto walked into the room she started looking around for the problem but all she could see were groups of people having fun. Finally she spotted the Commander sitting at a table with Dr Mias and crossing over she stopped beside them. "You wanted to see me Sir." Her gaze flicked around the room again and she continued, "I presume it's not a medical problem?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Stardate: 2407.02.04 (USS Mystique – Room with a larger replicator – AOPS/CONN - Ensign Ash Physioc - 1439) Ash watched as a crewman walked into the room, rather Un-suspectingly.. Ash grinned. Naraht turned and exited his bowl and saw the startled crewman. “Oh, hello! Did you need to use the replicator? I do apologise if my eating has gotten in your way. Can I help you with anything?” asked Naraht politely. Ash grinned again, as he looked to the crewman for an answer.. “Ensign Physioc, sir? Uh…Do we have a guest on board?” The man said, Ash stepped forward beaming. "Crewman John Higgins meet our new Assistant head of Science, Ensign Naraht" Ash said smiling beyond belief. “Er, um…. I am glad to meet you, Ensign Naraht. I’ll just be going now. Sorry to disturb your meal, sir!” The maintenance crewman backed up and fled in embarrassment through the door. Ash shook his head... “I am much improved now, Ensign Physioc. As we have already replicated my food dish we might as well take it with us to wherever my quarters will be. I will use it there. At the Academy we had it set flush into the floor with my replicator able to dump directly into it. My personal replicator was set into the wall down lower for me.” Naraht said as he turned to Ash. “Thank you so much Ensign, for your help. Now then, where is the commanding officer? I had probably better report in as soon as possible,” said Naraht. Ash nodded, he took down the specifications on his PADD and then said. "Before we go Mr. Naraht... Do you have any more Specifications we should be aware off?" Ash asked politely. (Reply Naraht) "Noted," Ash said smiling. He moved over to the door... "We should be able to find him somewhere around," Ash said as he reached the door. =/\= Lt. Keswick to Ensign Ash Report to my office now =/\= Came Keswicks voice over the COMM... ~Dammit...~ Ash turned to Naraht, "I'm sorry, I'll have to leave you." Ash spotted a passing crewman.... He walked over to him and said "Crewman Attache Linguid, i need you to show Mr. Naraht to Commander Saleke, if you please. I've been summoned to Lieutenant Keswick." Attache nodded, "This was Mr. Naraht, we'll get you there in no time..." Attache looked at Naraht abit weirdly but then but his differences aside. (Reply Naraht) "I'll see you later, Naraht." Ash said with a smile, "I'll get those modifications done quickly" Ash said as he wondered off in the directions of Keswicks office. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate 2407.02.04 (USS Mystique - COPS Office - COPS Lt. Travis Keswick - 1440) Travis walked into his office as the door closed behind him still angry with the report that Lt David Adam gave him on Ensign Ash's total disrespect and insubordination now Travis had the task of dealing with it before Commander Saleke gets involved. Travis had allot on his plate wright now and the last thing he wonted to do was deal with an uncooperative junior officer. Travis took a moment to compose himself before he taped his com-badge. =/\= Lt. Keswick to Ensign Ash Report to my office now =/\= Travis sead trying to hide the anger in his voice. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate 2407.02.04 (USS Mystique - Operations - AOPS/CONN, Ensign Ash Physioc - 1441) =/\= Lt. Keswick to Ensign Ash Report to my office now =/\= Came Keswicks voice over the COMM. ~What have i done now?~ Ash thought, a little be-fuddled. He tapped his COMM Badge, "Yes, Sir. On my way." Ash closed down the terminal he was working on and then walked out of Operations, he walked quickly to Keswicks office wondering what he had done. He had given Mr. Naraht a nice tour of the ship took him to Saleke... and then continued with his duty's making the adjustments Naraht needed. He rang the door chime on Keswicks office, He was beckoned in. He walked in and said, "Ensign Physioc here, as requested... Sir." Ash said, worrying slightly... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Stardate 2407.02.04 (USS Mystique - COPS Office - COPS Lt. Travis Keswick - 1442) Travis was looking over a padd when the door chimed. Travis put the padd down on his desk. "Enter." He sead in a stern strong voice. The office door opined and the young ops officer walked in. "Ensign Physioc here, as requested... Sir." Ash said, worrying slightly... Travis stood up looking the officer up and down. "Is it not customary for a junior officer to stand at attention when reporting to his Commanding officer. Travis sead in an angry almost yelling as walked around his desk and stood infront of the young Ensign looking into his eyes with a cold look as to let Ash know he mean business. And what Makes you think you don't have to follow the same protocols as the rest of us. And I'm talking about you not in proper uniform. (Reply Ash) "I'm not Looking for excuses." Travis sead angrily cutting ash off. "I thought I made myself clear when you first came onboard. I expect all the officer under my command to hold them self to a high level of excellence. I will not tolerate anyone under my command thinking he is to good to follow the roles. It appears to me that you need some help with how things work around here." Travis sead thinking for a moment. "You are to go and put on a proper uniform and then report to deck 18 for waste management detail. I wont you to clean every waste filtration system on this ship and I expect them to shine this will help you with discipline." "Do I make My self clear Ensign. Travis sead firmly. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.04 (USS Mystique – Ship corridor – Asst CSO - Ensign (jg) Naraht- 1443) “Thank you so much Ensign Physioc, for your help. Now then, where is the commanding officer? I had probably better report in as soon as possible,” said Naraht. Ash nodded, he took down the specifications on his PADD and then said. "Before we go Mr. Naraht... Do you have any more Specifications we should be aware off?" Ash asked politely. “I require a few hours time at least once a week in a deep pressure chamber to help keep my armor healthy unless of course I would be able to substitute that time by being deep underground planetside. I only need a few hours as a weekly rest period, and sometimes they can coincide,” Naraht told Physioc. "Noted," Ash said smiling. He moved over to the door. "We should be able to find him somewhere around," Ash said as he reached the door. =/\= Lt. Keswick to Ensign Ash Report to my office now =/\= Came Keswicks voice over the COMM. Physioc turned to Naraht. "I'm sorry. I'll have to leave you." Physioc spotted a passing crewman. "Crewman Attache Linguid, I need you to show Mr. Naraht to Commander Saleke, if you please. I've been summoned to Lieutenant Keswick." Crewman Linguid nodded, "This way Mr. Naraht. We'll get you there in no time." Linguid looked surprised, but then nodded philosophically. “I expect to see you around the ship quite a bit, Mr. Physioc. I am very glad to have met you.” "I'll see you later, Naraht," Physioc said with a smile. "I'll get those modifications done quickly," Physioc said as he wondered off in the direction of Keswick’s office. “Well Crewman Linguid, can you tell me where Commander Saleke is? I am to report to him and I will have to have someone deliver my food dish here in this maintenance room to where ever my quarters will be. I am unsure if I have been assigned any quarters yet though.” Linguid nodded. “I’m sure you will be assigned them soon. We will get it later. Did you just get onboard today?” “Yes, just a few minutes ago. I have recently graduated from the Academy with honors in Geology, Metallurgy and Tactical Exploration. I am very excited to be on board!” Linguid found himself smiling. “Yes sir, it is a very fine ship, sir. If you will come this way, we will proceed finding the Commander.” In walking at a brisk pace down the hall, Naraht rumbling along beside him, the crewman spotted a ship computer map on the corridor wall. “Where is Commander Saleke located?” he asked the ship’s computer. [Commander Saleke is in Ten Forward] replied the computer voice. “That is right this way, Mr. Naraht. You should be able to get a good view of the planet we are currently orbiting out of the observation windows in the lounge.” “Great!” exclaimed Naraht. “I am looking forward to it already.” They entered a nearby turbolift. “May I ask, Mr. Naraht, what race you are?” inquired Crewman Linguid. “Certainly, you may,” answered Naraht cheerfully. There was a moment of silence. “So what race are you, Mr. Naraht?” asked the crewman, becoming somewhat flustered. Naraht answered, “My species is called a Horta, but scientifically known among you tall graceful stalks as Hortensia acidophlangia.” They exited the turbolift and proceeded up another corridor. “We are a silicon based life form that exudes a highly corrosive acid to liquefy rock and minerals for immediate ingestion. But don’t worry; I have complete control over my salivation capabilities. And I don’t bite, at least not very hard.” Naraht’s phalange uncoiled from underneath as they neared the destination as indicated on the maps in the ship corridors. He waved his phalange with good humor in front of him. “Yes sir! Mr. Naraht,” said the crewman, a little boggle eyed. “Commander Saleke will be in here, sir. Allow me to take you right to him.” The doors to Ten Forward swooshed open in front of them. Naraht wanting to be courteous coiled up his longer phalange and upon entering with Crewman Linguid, he found himself in a large room, with furniture scattered about it, and floor to ceiling windows on one end. There were many more tall graceful stalks in the room having folded themselves down onto some of the chairs that were grouped around the taller platforms, called tables, remembered Naraht. “The light is very dim in this room, Crewman. How does your species function with such a low light level? I was under the impression that you needed much more light for your vision.” The conversation level in Ten Forward ceased in shock. In the quiet, Crewman Linguid said softly, “Mr. Naraht, the Commander is at the table over there, the third table from the right. He is the Vulcan speaking to the Betazed doctor, Dr. Riven Mias. They appear to be in deep conversation er…at least they were. I expect you should wait until they are finished conversing before you approach them.” “Thank you, Crewman Linguid, you have been most helpful. I look forward to seeing you often in the corridors of the ship.” Flustered even more at being the center of attention with so many officers staring at him and Naraht in the large room, the crewman hurried out of Ten Forward shaking his head. Naraht moved through Ten Forward, rumbling past everyone, intent on getting as close to the windows as possible. He paused in front of the large scenic view of the green planet in awe. “Such amazing beauty from out here. We are so small in the cosmos by comparison,” said Naraht aloud, reverently, to no one in particular. “I wonder what the minerals on that planet taste like.” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Stardate: 2407.02.04 (USS Mystique - Deck Ten Forward- Commander Saleke - 1444) Saleke noted the arrival of a most unusual creature into ten forward as did everyone there, the squat, oval alien rumbled through the room and settled before the observation windows then uncurled an appendage from beneath itself and let it linger before the window, perhaps having an optical system there. Saleke's curiosity was initiated by the sight of the being, there were no telltale signs whether it was male or female but its species he judged to be Horta, as a student of alien life forms he had come across references to the creature while reviewing the data files. The Horta had originally been discovered by miners on Janus VI, were highly resistent to energy weaponry and were known to ingest minerals using a highly corrosive acid. All the data had been originally entered whole from the ships log of the original Contitution class heavy cruiser Enterprise There was a bit more he remembered from his researches but that would have to wait, he assumed logically this creature had come on board from the shuttle he was notified of by Lt. Adams as there had been no such life form on the ship previously. There was no time to indulge his curiosity at this time however as the door to the lounge open and Dr. Vren entered. Dr. Vren was the first to arrive, she walked up to the table and looked about quickly before speaking. "You wanted to see me Sir? I presume it's not a medical problem?" Saleke rose to his feet and noted that Riven did the same. "No doctor it is not a medical problem, please take a seat." (Reply: Marto) As she did so his eyes noted the door to Ten Forward open again and an enraged Dr. Trommashere enter the lounge so he remained standing though Riven seated himself with a shake of his head, no doubt he was registering her emotional condition as there was a frown upon his face. As Angeni stalked up tot he table Saleke remained standing with his hands cupped behind his back and his unemotional face a blank mask. When she had stopped before him he spoke without otherwise moving. "Doctor Trommashere please take a seat, we are here to discuss the animosity you have shown toward Dr. Vren and what might be done to correct it." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate 2407.02.04 (USS Mystique - COPS Office - AOPS/CONN, Ensign Ash Physioc - 1445) Ash stood in front of the Lieutenant's desk. He did wonder what he had done wrong. "Is it not customary for a junior officer to stand at attention when reporting to his Commanding officer." Keswick said, he stood infront of Ash and looked at him sternly. Ash almost fainted, the man was giving so much emotion off in one blast. Ash didnt expect it, he staggered slightly and then stood up strait to attention.. "Ensign Ash Physioc Reporting to Lieutenant Keswick as ordered" He said almost repeating himself, while standing to attention. "And what Makes you think you don't have to follow the same protocols as the rest of us. And I'm talking about you not in proper uniform." Travis bellowed at him. Ash looked down at his clothing and frowned ~Bugga...~ He thought to himself "Nothing makes me think it, Sir. I just haven't had the time to fetch one," Ash lyed to the Lieutenant, he didnt want to admit to the Lieutenant that he had forgotten i was going to fetch one tonight." Ash said calmly, still standing to attention. "I'm not Looking for excuses." Keswick said, "I thought I made myself clear when you first came onboard. I expect all the officer under my command to hold them self to a high level of excellence. I will not tolerate anyone under my command thinking he is to good to follow the roles. It appears to me that you need some help with how things work around here." Travis said. "You did, Sir. Which is why i have been doing my Job. I have been making arrangements for our new crewmember - Ensign Naraht, he's a Horta and needs specialised quarters as such. I would show you the specifications if you like..." Ash said but was then cut off... "You are to go and put on a proper uniform and then report to deck 18 for waste management detail. I wont you to clean every waste filtration system on this ship and I expect them to shine this will help you with discipline." "Do I make My self clear Ensign. Travis said firmly. Ash just stared as his superior... And smiled slightly. He checked the time, "You make yourself very clear, Sir. As it stands i had a meeting with the Assistant Counsellor at 1500 hours. Would you like me to miss and re-schedule that? Surely that would re-flect on the department badly? I would be happy to go do your punishment afterwards, and i will fetch a uniform before the meeting?" Ash said, he realised he was still standing at attention, but he didnt lower his stance what so ever. And waited for Keswicks answer... He hoped the Man would let him go to his meeting, but doubted it. He would have to re-schedule it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Stardate: 2407.02.04 (USS Mystique - Deck Ten Forward - ACMO Lt (jg) Vren Marto - 1446) Both the Commander and Dr Mias had risen to their feet as she approached but it was the Commander who answered her question. "No doctor it is not a medical problem, please take a seat." Marto sank gracefully into the chair beside her and noticed that while Dr Mias sat down as well the Commander had remained standing. Marto hadn't realised that someone else had walked up behind her until he spoke again. "Doctor Trommashere please take a seat, we are here to discuss the animosity you have shown toward Dr. Vren and what might be done to correct it." Marto couldn't control her reaction to that statement and her eyes flew wide open. ~Oh Prophets, now is not the time and this is definitely not the place.~ If she was being honest with herself Marto had known that given what transpired in the Observation Lounge, this meeting was inevitable. She also understood that holding it quickly was probably better than letting it fester on. What she didn't understand was the reason for holding it in arguably the most public place on the ship. ~Why didn't they just pipe it over the comm system and have done with it. I wonder who's brilliant idea that was.~ Her glance strayed across to Dr Mias watching him frown. ~Ah, so. Well I hope you don't come to regret it doctor~ Trying hard to relax herself Marto simply sat quietly in her chair waiting to see who would speak next. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate 2407.02.04 (USS Mystique - COPS Office - COPS Lt. Travis Keswick - 1447) He checked the time, "You make yourself very clear, Sir. As it stands i had a meeting with the Assistant Counsellor at 1500 hours. Would you like me to miss and re-schedule that? Surely that would re-flect on the department badly? "I have already canceled you appointment with the good counselor. Now I recommend you go get changed and get to work you have allot of work ahead of you. Travis sead in his stern voice. Once you are done I recommend you get some rest because you are expected to report for your normal duty shift tomorrow morning with an apology to Lt. Adams and Commander Saleke for your lack of judgment is that understood. (Reply Ash) "Good now get going you have work to do dismissed." Travis sead as the young man turned and walked out of the office. Travis returned to his chair and filled out a reprimand report on Ensign Ash and forwarded it to Commander Saleke. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.04 (USS Mystique - Deck Ten Forward- CMO Angeni O. Windsong-Trommashere - 1448) "Doctor Trommashere please take a seat, we are here to discuss the animosity you have shown toward Dr. Vren and what might be done to correct it." Angeni smirked lightly, as she sat down. "Right..." Her voice was clipped as she stared at Riven. He was someone that she trusted with her innermost thoughts and feelings, and she felt like she had been betrayed by someone that she loved and appreciated as more than a friend, but as a confidante, and she certainly told him how she felt about him with her eyes, and her thoughts. She turned to Dr. Vren, and she just tilted her head to the side, her thoughts collecting themselves, and she just held a rather hurt look on her face. "So this is what all the hoop-la is about. Why didn't you just come to me and ask me what was going on instead of calling the interstellar tribunal?" (Reply Vren) Angeni listened, but only half heartedly, she turned to Saleke, completely avoiding Riven's gaze...she had plans to speak with him later about the whole deal... "Hrm...I don't like her because in the medical field, it's a solo job. The higher up you go, the less people you can trust, and then you thrust me with her, after what would've and could've been a career ending injury, and you expect me to be happy with it...I think not. That's why I show animosity to her. She's a rival to me...she'll take my place at a moments' notice therefore...I won't and can't trust her." (Reply Saleke) "Fine...you want me to be nice to her...that's perfectly okay. I'll be as nice to her as she wants me to be, but don't expect me to be happy about it, number one, and number two don't expect me to trust her..." She thought a simple statement, not sure if Saleke would catch it or not, but it was directed completely at Riven. ~I don't know what to do...~ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate 2407.02.04 (USS Mystique - COPS Office - AOPS/CONN, Ensign Ash Physioc - 1450) "I have already canceled you appointment with the good counselor. "Once you are done I recommend you get some rest because you are expected to report for your normal duty shift tomorrow morning with an apology to Lt. Adams and Commander Saleke for your lack of judgment is that understood." Ash nodded, solemnly. "Yes, Sir. Understood." Ash said, he bowed his head to show Travis he was ever so slightly ashamed off being told off by him... Again. "Sir, Before i begin work." Ash pulled out a PADD. "There is a new Ensign Naraht - Assistant head of Science. He's a Horta and his quarters and several other things need modifying immediately, before he can get to them... Here is what i listed down of needing doing. I hope it can be of some use, you may want to send a message to Commander Saleke telling him this, before he assigns quarters... Just a suggestion.." Ash trailed off... (Reply Keswick) "Good now get going you have work to do dismissed." The Lieutenant said, with an air off finality. Ash nodded and headed out of the door, a long days shift ahead of him now... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.05 (Starbase Geneva- Admiralty offices- Fleet 2O- Admiral Gr'iann- 0920) Gr'iann had gone over the reports about Captain Winters several times. As a Caitian, his knowledge in telepathic anomalies was not the best. Caitians were reknown for their lack of strength against telepathy. However, Vanyssa Winters ailments stemmed as much from a deep rooted depression as they did with telepathy. He frowned thinking of what was going to happen to this accomplished officer next. However, he had already lined up some of the best in the field. Vanyssa Winters will get the help she needs. However, how do you give someone the will to live. It was going to take a long time.
