She didn't want to deal with the mental anguish she went through every day. Her old wounds gnashed at her like rabid dogs, causing her to spend her evenings curled up in a corner sobbing her eyes out. She made people work too hard for her, and seeing Riven being eaten alive by the flames tore at her. She couldn't bear to look at him, but his voice probed at her so forcefully she opened her eyes, staring hard at him. For a moment, she stayed there, her eyes locked with his. ~Why are you here?! Just let me go! I'm no use around here...look at me! I can't even do a simple task correctly without getting hurt...just get out of here...!~ She tried to fight him off of her, trying to push him away from her, but he held onto her so tightly, she soon stopped and she sagged heavily in his arms. ~I'm...so tired...~ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.01.31 (USS Mystique - Mindscape - Dr. Riven MIas - 1520) ~Why are you here?! Just let me go! I'm no use around here...look at me! I can't even do a simple task correctly without getting hurt...just get out of here...!~ Riven looked through the waves of heat and flame to see Angeni fix her eyes on him and felt the thrill of impending victory, he had managed to break through and gain her attention. As she struggled beneath him he held on tightly, feeling the flames begin to slowly dissipate. ~I'm...so tired...~ ::It won't be long now Angeni,:: He sent to her mind as the pain left and the cool feeling of darkness returned while she slowly vanished from his sight along with the hallway. After a moment there was nothing but a feeling of peace all around him as she drifted, finally off to sleep... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2406.01.31 (USS Mystique - Deck 2, FO's office - ACONN Ens(sg) Andreas Schliegler - 15:51) Still standing and consequently towering over Andreas, the First Officer said: "You are hereby demoted in rank to Ensign Junior grade Mister Schliegler, I trust that will be satisfactory?" Pulling a black pip from a drawer of his desk the Vulcan held out his hand for the gold one on the collar surrounding Andreas' neck. Andreas started to flash a smile but then stopped as he considered what he had actually done. It felt right to him to be demoted, but not for the reasons he had given the Vulcan. He knew it would buy him some peace of mind and reduce the guilt feelings that he knew were nagging at him deep down. For he had been the pilot and his error in positioning the ship had led to too many wounded and dead people. However, if he had told the FO that, he would no doubt have been treated to a lecture on psycho-mumbo-jumbo, or even worse would have had to spend sessions with the Counsellor. Andreas shivered slightly. So, quite relieved with the result, he simply nodded. "Yefff, Fffir, quite fffatiffffactory." As he took the gold pip off and placed it in the FO's hand, he grimaced. "Don't loofffe it, Fffir becaufffe I intend to earn it back. Fffoon." He then placed the black pip on his collar and came to attention. "If ffat'fff all, Fffir, I guefff I fffjould make my way to Fffickbay." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2406.01.31 (USS Mystique - Sickbay - ACONN Ens(jg) Andreas Schliegler - 16:03) Having made his way down to Sickbay, Andreas felt relieved when he noticed how 'quiet' things had become down there. Never the less it was busy enough for Andreas not to be noticed immediately so he started to wander around until he saw a familiar face lying on a biobed. "Hey, button-boy!" he greeted the OPS officer. "I hope fffey are taking good care of you? (Reply Travis) Noticing how the bio-bed next to Travis was unoccupied, Andreas installed himself on it and gazed at the ceiling for a while. Then he looked over to Travis. "It'fff not ffferioufff, ifff it? Fffe head, I mean. I'm quite known to caufffe a headche or two for fffenior offfiffferfff, but up until now never literally. Well, tell a lie, ffere wafff onfffe fffifff Commander geefffer who fffought he could teach me a trick or two about fanfffy flying in a mako. But fffat wafff an acfffident. I didn't know fffat he had forgotten to put hifff fffafety harnefff on!" Andreas shivered then grinned. "Amafffing how much meffffff a little headwound can make infffide a Mako cockpit. Took me hourfff to clear it all up afterwardfff." (Reply Travis) Andreas shrugged. "Fffay, you wouldn't happen to be in for a friendly few roundfff of double-bluff poker tonight, would you? When you're releaffed, I mean. I'll fffjow you a few trickfff fffat even a telepafff won't be able to block." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Stardate: 2406.01.31 (USS Mystique - Sickbay - COPS Lt. Travis Keswick - 16:05) Travis lay on the biobed as a nurse ran test after test on his neurological systems. Travis was getting tired of all the tests and wonted to shoe the nurse away and get back to work even thew he had head trauma and a splitting head heck he would be willing to deal with the pain but it was Marto's wrath that concerned him if he walked out of sick bay and that is something he was not willing to take on. As the Sick bay doors opined up travis looked up from the biobed to see Ensign Schliegler walk in and take up a biobed next to him. "Hey, button-boy!" he greeted the OPS officer. "I hope fffey are taking good care of you? "Hi fly boy. If I have to have another test I swore I am going to kill someone. But I guess with a head injury you can never be to careful. "It'fff not ffferioufff, ifff it? Fffe head, I mean. I'm quite known to caufffe a headche or two for fffenior offfiffferfff, but up until now never literally. He ribs and collarbone were beginning to hurt her again and she knew that shortly she would have to deal with them again but she had decided that she could at least deal with Travis before that. Crossing over to him, she smiled down at him. "Hi, how are you feeling?" (Reply Travis) "Well, you'll be glad to know that your scans show no serious problems so, as far as I am concerned you can report back for duty. However you know the drill, if you start having headaches, blurred vision etc......You know the drill as well as I do Travis, any problems, I need to know about them. Go on, stop taking up room I need for ill patients. I'll see you later." Turning to the bed beside him Marto regarded the patient there. "And what can I do for you Ensign?" (Reply Andreas) Marto barely had to listen to him for a minute or two before silencing him. "I understand your problem Ensign. The nurse will take a DNA sample from you, believe me you won't even notice it, see I told you you wouldn't. We'll grow your teeth for you in a few moments and we will just whip you into surgery and have them fixed as good as new. (Reply Andreas) "Actually console collisions are a well known hazard and are a fairly mundane piece of work for Sickbay. It will be all over in ten minutes and you will be free to resume you duties immediately as long as there are no after effects. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Stardate: 2406.01.31 (USS Mystique - Sickbay - COPS Lt. Travis Keswick - 16:08) Travis was being scanned by a nurse as he was talking with Ensign Andreas. when her herd the doors leading to the Operating rooms open Travis glanced over to see Dr. Marto cross sick bay heading over to him. He could tell that Marto was in some pain as she made her way over to him. "Hi, how are you feeling?" She asked as she looked down at a padd. Travis just smiled "You know me tough as nails." He sead with a wink. "Well, you'll be glad to know that your scans show no serious problems so, as far as I am concerned you can report back for duty. However you know the drill, if you start having headaches, blurred vision etc......You know the drill as well as I do Travis, any problems, I need to know about them. Go on, stop taking up room I need for ill patients. I'll see you later." Travis as noticed lately that Marto seemed to be a bit overly protective of him. Wether it was just her normal worm bedside manner or the fact that Marto knows him better then any one on this ship and she knows that he will work himself to hard and she just needs to give him a swift kick in the ass and if there is any on on this ship that can do it it is her. So her as learned over the last year that they have been together that he can't win so he just learns to live with it. so with a simple smile Travis stood up and made his way to the door. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2406.01.31 (USS Mystique - Sickbay - ACONN Ensign (jg) Andreas Schliegler - 16:09) "Sounds like fun. When and where?" Travis asked. "Who else will be there?" Travis added. Andreas tried to grin but noticed that his lips were troubling him now. He grunted. "Fffinfffe I haven't gotten my quarterfff yet and I'd probably need to do a lot of fffifting firffft, I wafff fffinking of a room in the main hangarbay. Fffey hafff plenty of room upfffere. Fffjal we fffay ffftarting at nine? "Sure, I will ask Marto to join us I have been wanting to have her join me in a good poker game." Andreas narrowed his eyes and looked over at the OPS officer. In his experience, girlfriends and poker didn't mix. Especially not when you were about to win a large amount. But he shrugged. "Ffffure, why not. In fact I wafff hoping to eckffftend an open invitafffjon for all offiffferfff and anyone who wantfff to hafff a good time. FFfjould allow me to introdufffe myfffelfff to all aboard. Getting fffem to know me a bit better, and fffuch. Can you pafff the word around?" (reply Travis) Andreas nodded and then looked up as he spied a female doctor coming closer. "Hello!" Andreas sat himself up, trying to attract her attention. But she seemed to be slightly pre-occupied as she disregarded Andreas and went over to the button man first. "Hi, how are you feeling?" (Reply Travis) "Well, you'll be glad to know that your scans show no serious problems so, as far as I am concerned you can report back for duty. However you know the drill, if you start having headaches, blurred vision etc......You know the drill as well as I do, Travis, any problems, I need to know about them. Go on, stop taking up room I need for ill patients. I'll see you later." Taking it that the Bajoran doctor was just providing after-care, Andreas used the time to appreciate the female next to him. His appreciating smile disappeared at an instant as she turned round to face him. "And what can I do for you, Ensign?" This gave Andreas a multitude of options but he decided he would go for the treatment first. "Nofffing major, I fffink, doc. It'fff not like I am hurt or anyfffing. Nor ifff it fffomefffing I would call urgent or anyfffing, juffft annoying. I wafff on fffe Bridge, you fffee and fffen when fffe fffjip wafff pulled along wifff the eddy, I kinda...uhm... knocked two teefff out on the conffffole. But fffe nurfffe fffaid it wafffn't major and fffen fffe Firffft Offifffer called me to his offifffe and fffaid I had to get fffem......." Andreas fell silent as the Bajoran stoped him from continueing. "I understand your problem Ensign. The nurse will take a DNA sample from you, believe me you won't even notice it, see I told you you wouldn't. We'll grow your teeth for you in a few moments and we will just whip you into surgery and have them fixed as good as new." "It'fff NOT a problem! I'm not hurt!" Andreas tried again. "I told him fffat afff well. I mean, it wafff only a little fffcratch! But he made it look like it wafff fffe end of fffe world!" "Actually console collisions are a well known hazard and are a fairly mundane piece of work for Sickbay. It will be all over in ten minutes and you will be free to resume you duties immediately as long as there are no after effects." the doctor replied Andreas eyed the doctor suspiciously. "After effectfff," he said. "What after effectfff? Hang on, you're not going to tell me fffat my moufff will be numbed, are you? I'll be dribbling all over fffe plafffe!" (Reply Marto) As she had finished with him and orderlies were coming in to take him to the surgery, Andreas sighed. But then remembering he had to get a date for the night, he blinked to the doctor. "Hello!" Andreas tried again and as he got up from the bed he attracted her attention again. "Hey doll, fanfffy a nifffe night out wifff fffe boyfff? My pal here already hafff a companion for the pokergame tonight and I am in dire need here for a friendly fafffe, a quick fffmile and afterwardffff, who knowfff?" Andreas was trying to smile his best smile to impress the Bajoran female. In response the Bajoran just smiled, walked over to the next bed then turned round, a smile playing around her lips. "Sorry Ensign, thank you for the invite, but I am pretty sure that I am busy just now. Another time maybe." Andreas shook his head as the orderlies took him away. It was not that often that he was stood up. "NOW I'm hurt," he said with emphasis. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2406.01.31 (USS Mystique - Sickbay - ACMO Ensign Vren Marto - 16:11) "After effectfff," he said. "What after effectfff? Hang on, you're not going to tell me fffat my moufff will be numbed, are you? I'll be dribbling all over fffe plafffe!" Marto took pity on him and decided not to inform him, that given his missing teeth he was already dribbling. Instead she rested her hand on his shoulder and smiled kindly down at him. "Don't worry about it Ensign. We won't be knocking you out to regrow your teeth so unless you have a reaction to the pain medication everything will be just fine. However if you start to see spots, or have double vision I need to see you back here again. The analgesic I am using might make you feel a little woozy and your brain might not work at maximum for a few hours but it is necessary since we will be working on your upper jaw. Just try not to do anything too hazardous like flying us in and out of a nebula till the morning at least. After that you should be fine." Marto turned to the next patient to conceal the smile on her face as a thought ran through her mind............ ~not that I'm sure there would be much of a difference honestly...........~. Before she could move away her patient had the nerve to ask for her company for the night and when she politely turned him down he protested. "NOW I'm hurt," Thankfully the MedTechs were already wheeling him away so he didn't hear her reply. "I could fix that too, but I don't think you'd like it very much." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Stardate: 2406.01.31 (USS Mystique - Sickbay - ACMO Ensign Vren Marto - 16:21) Marto only waited long enough to find out that his operation had gone well, then called over the Head Nurse. Watching her walk towards her with concern written all over her face Marto held up her hands to forestall her. "Yes, I am sore, I'm tired and I badly need some sleep. I know that. I'm off to my quarters now. If you need me call me. If not I will be back first thing in the morning. You know the drill. Have all the reports ready for me. Supplies, equipment, patient updates. Oh that reminds me, I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that Commander Saleke had an ankle injury. Please have someone check on that and treat it asap please. If there are any problems with that then call me immediately, otherwise use your own discretion, oh and call your relief in no later that 18.00. I will need you in the morning and I want you to have a decent rest too. Good night." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Stardate: 2406.01.31 (USS Mystique, Ensign Alessi's Quarters, ACOUNS Ens(sg) Regan Alessi, 1806) The chime sounded sooner than she had thought, and Regan smiled at Menno. "That must be Mr Harper," she said happily. "Now remember, we have to talk aloud, because Mr Harper is not a Betazoid," then called out, "Come in!" Norm stepped in and looked over to the child, who was regarding him with interest. "You must be Menno!" He smiled and reached out a hand for Menno to shake. Menno, feeling very grown up, shook Norm's hand solemnly. "How do you do, Mr Harper?" he said politely. "It's very nice to meet you." (reply Norm?) Regan smiled to herself. At least she had no need to blush for Menno's manners. "It's good to see you again, Norm," she said. Norm looked around at the still packed luggage and toyed with his music chip. "You like beach music?" He asked. "What's beach music?" asked Menno, and "We like all kinds of music," Regan said, adding "Did you bring some?" as she noticed the chip he had brought with him. (Reply Norm) "Would you like to eat now or later?" Regan asked. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2406.01.31 (USS Mystique, Ensign Alessi's Quarters, ACEO Norm Harper, 1807) "How do you do, Mr Harper?" Menno said politely. "It's very nice to meet you." Norm resisted the urge to reach out and ruffle Menno's hair after just having shook his had and smiled instead. "It's good to see you again, Norm," Regan chimed in. "And you!" Norm said, nodding toward her, "I have to admit, I was a little worried about you." Norm looked around at the still packed luggage and toyed with his music chip. "You like beach music?" He asked. "What's beach music?" asked Menno, and "We like all kinds of music," Regan said, adding "Did you bring some?" as she noticed the chip he had brought with him. "It's an old kind of music from earth started in the mid twentieth century where the musicians attempt to imitate the sound of the ocean with their instruments. They try to make guitars and stuff sound like the rolling of waves on sand. It doesn't always work the way they want it to, but it's my favourite." He looked back to Regan, "And, yes, I brought some if you'd like to try it out." (reply Regan, Menno iyw) "I can, uh, hook it up through your computer," he offered. "Would you like to eat now or later?" Regan asked. Norm glanced at Menno, then back at her, "What's a party without food?" He asked. (reply Norm iyw) "Would you like to eat now or later?" Regan asked. Norm glanced at Menno, then back at her, "What's a party without food?" He asked. "GREAT!" Menno shouted. Regan sent him a warning glance and then said, "OK then, how about you two set the table while I finish off supper?" "Well then," Norm rubbed his hands together to warm them with friction, "Let us get started!" The table was soon laid and Regan brought a large wok-type pan to the table filled with her favourite Earth recipe. "I hope you like nasi goreng?" she said. (reply Norm, room for more iyw) After they had eaten, Regan sighed. "Well, can't put it off any longer," she said, regarding the unpacking to be done. "I like guests that make themselves at home," she added. "It feels much more comfortable that way, don't you agree?" "Much." Norm agreed, bending his neck to look down at the computer and glancing up to look at her and shoot her a crooked smile. He plugged in his music chip and pulled down to the oldest song he had. "This one's called Pipeline." He said, "I have no idea how it's lasted so long, but this is from way back when Beach Music originated." "Would you like to eat now or later?" Regan asked. Norm glanced at Menno, then back at her, "What's a party without food?" He asked. "GREAT!" Menno shouted. The table was soon laid and Regan brought a large wok-type pan to the table filled with her favourite Earth recipe. "I hope you like nasi goreng?" she said. Norm furrowed his brow and bit his lower lip. "There's only one way to find out." He said. (reply Regan, Menno iyw) After they had eaten, Regan sighed. "Well, can't put it off any longer," she said, regarding the unpacking to be done. "So, let's put on some more music and have a race? "I'd say we did pretty well." He stuck his hands to his hips and looked over at the sleeping boy on the couch. (reply Regan) "Would you like to get some dinner on the holodeck with me?" He massaged the back of his neck with his right hand hiding his nervousness behind a well rehearsed confident smile. "I know a great little place back home in Huntington." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.01 (USS Mystique - Senior Counsellor's office - Dr. Riven MIas- 0820) ::We seem to have plenty to go on now,:: Riven sent as he began to pull away from Ash's mind. "Thank you for your time and patience Ash and you Regan for helping me." He looked from one to another before rising as he raised his mental shields. (Reply: Ash, Regan) "If you'll excuse me I need to compile my report for the Commander," He smiled at Ashlitu. "As soon as it's finished I'll send it on, Commander Saleke will be getting back in touch with you." (Reply: Ash) The guard stepped aside and motioned for the Betazoid to go ahead of him. As soon as they had gone Riven looked quizzically at Regan. "Now what was it that you wanted to speak with me about Regan? I made sure that we could not be eavesdropped on." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.01 (USS Mystique - Senior Counsellor's office - ACOUNS Ens(sg) Regan Alessi - 0821) Regan, relieved that it was over, took no time in raising her own mental shields as high as she could. She still distrusted Ash and was aware how powerful a telepath he was. She had felt him read her message to Riven, which she had deliberately shielded, though not with her full shields. He would not catch her that way again. "If you'll excuse me I need to compile my report for the Commander," Riven smiled at Ashlitu. I made sure that we could not be eavesdropped on." Regan looked at Riven. "I know that you saw what I saw there in his mind," she said. "That was Alexis, that he killed on the Zephyr. Just to create a diversion! To kill a human being like that, without compassion, without feeling... isn't there something wrong with that? Even if I hadn't known the man he killed, even if he hadn't been my son's father, I can't accept that action. It's too like Doenitz." She got to her feet and began pacing. "He's a contradiction," she said, trying to put her feelings into words. "He shows us terrible things that happened to him and that he did to others but he kept a portion of his mind closed. It may be that the part he kept closed is personal feelings but if he really truly wants us to trust and accept him, don't you think he would not have done so? He intruded on my personal question to you, despite my closing off from him. Admittedly I did not put up full shields but it argues a certain lack of discipline and morality. I don't trust him, Riven. I don't know how much of that lack of trust is biased because of what he did to Alexis. I have always thought of myself as a fair person, and now I just don't know how fair I am being to Ashlitu. But my gut instinct is that he is still hiding something from us, and until we know what that is, I cannot say that I think he should be trusted. Especially since he is such a powerful telepath." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.01 (USS Mystique - Senior Counsellor's office - (AOPS/CONN, Ensign) Ash Physioc - 0824) Ash raised his full shields as soon as both characters in the room left his mind. He knew it probably had been the wrong thing to intercept Reagan's message but he couldnt see how it would be harmful to find out what she was saying, especially sine it was something trivial. "If you'll excuse me I need to compile my report for the Commander," Riven smiled at Ashlitu. "As soon as it's finished I'll send it on, Commander Saleke will be getting back in touch with you." ~Yay,,, another day in enclosed quarters~ Ash thought, as much as he enjoyed the alone time he had in his quarters exploring deeper in to phycocineticis of the his mind and how to broaden his telepathic powers so he crush things like a bug with them with no effort at all. Ash nodded "It's been a pleasure Dr. And you Miss. Alessi, I look forward to talking again" He said directing it had Reagan, but also directing it at Riven at the same time. He walked to the door where the guard motioned him out. "Aye, dont worry im coming..." He sensed allot of emotion milling around the room at the point he left. After that he extracted his thoughts away from the room as he didnt want to intrude. He walked silently with the guard back to his room, He nodded to the guard "Thank-you," he walked in and the door closed behind him. He sat in the middle of his room eating food that had been brought to him and waiting for himself to be summoned.... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.01 (USS Mystique - Senior Counsellor's office - Dr. Riven Mias- 0825) "If you'll excuse me I need to compile my report for the Commander," Riven smiled at Ashlitu. "As soon as it's finished I'll send it on, Commander Saleke will be getting back in touch with you." Ash nodded "It's been a pleasure Dr. And you Miss. Alessi, I look forward to talking again" Having spoken he walked to the door under the eye of the guard. "Aye, dont worry im coming..." As soon as they had gone Riven looked quizzically at Regan. "Now what was it that you wanted to speak with me about Regan? Especially since he is such a powerful telepath." Riven nodded. "He reminds me much of an OPS office we had aboard the ship a while back, Jansen his name was... Bill Jansen. Bill received Telepathic and telekinetic abilities on Raelleus and he was very powerful but his abilities took control of him." (Reply: Regan) Riven sighed. "He was more powerful than Ashlitu, perhaps even more powerful than myself. Bill originally had a phobia about telepaths, he believed they were scanning his mind without his knowledge; When he received the gift he was quite thrown off by it. He became... dangerous and quick-tempered and was a danger to have aboard the ship so he was left behind on Raelleus as a liason with the populace. He wanted to flex the strength of his new found abilities and refused to be taught by me or anyone else on this ship how to use them wisely." (Reply: Regan) He looked back at Regan and nodded. "I agree with you in some ways about Ashlitu, he is willing to use his abilties, perhaps far too willing and I don't like the idea of sacrificing someone for the greater good; Unfortunately with this war we are in it is happening far too often." He pursed his lips before continuing. "He was being truthful though I'm not sure about his trustworthiness, it's a judgement call. I'll make sure Saleke knows to keep a close watch on him no matter what he decides. Is there anything else you'd like me to add to the report?" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.01 (USS Mystique - Senior Counsellor's office - ACOUNS Ens(sg) Regan Alessi - 0827) Riven nodded. "He reminds me much of an OPS officer we had aboard the ship a while back, Jansen his name was... Bill Jansen. Bill received Telepathic and telekinetic abilities on Raelleus and he was very powerful but his abilities took control of him." Regan looked surprised. "That seems unusual. I've heard of latent abilities being awakened in non-telepaths of course, but usually they are quite weak?" Riven sighed. He wanted to flex the strength of his new found abilities and refused to be taught by me or anyone else on this ship how to use them wisely." "That's not good!" Regan said, shocked. The thought of an untrained and powerful telepath refusing to be guided as to how to use his abilites was not just worrying, it was frightening too when you knew what they could be capable of. With no instruction or even no desire to stick to the telepathic moral laws, such a person could be extremely dangerous. She had heard of one or two cases where extreme measures had had to be taken but had had no personal experience of them. She put her hand on Riven's. ::I know you would have done everything possible to help him:: Riven looked back at her and nodded. Is there anything else you'd like me to add to the report?" Regan sighed and shook her head. "No, I think that would cover it all. If you and the Commander are keeping a watch on him then I'm sure he can't get too far out of line." she sighed again. "And I will try to keep my prejudice under control if I have dealings with him. Just don't expect me to become his friend." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.01 (USS Mystique - Deck 3, Hall - SFI Agent- Moto -1058) Moto was in the middle of his quarters with the lights dimmed knelt down in deep meditation trying to clear his mind when the door chimed. He opined his eyes he stood up. "Enter." Moto sead in his dry cold tone as the doors opined and a tall Vulcan entered the room. "Commander Saleke presume." Moto added as the doors closed behind him looking into the Vulcan's eyes. (Reply Saleke) "It is Agent Moto." Moto sead correcting Saleke before continuing. "Pardon me if I skip the pleasantries. I have herd about your dislike for what I do as is the same for a majority of the ship and I rely don't care. I am not here to make friends. I take it my credentials have been verified. Moto sead as he sat down on the couch. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Stardate: 2407.02.01 (USS Mystique - Deck 3 - Commander Saleke -1059) "Commander Saleke I presume." The Ulian commented as Saleke entered his quarters, he was seated on the floor in a meditative pose. His voice was not disagreeable but also as far from friendly. "And you are Moto," He said as he stepped to the side to allow the guard to enter, having the security guards in these meetings was a nuisance but owing to his station protocols and the security contingent aboard the ship demanded they accompany him. "It is Agent Moto." Saleke said nothing, merely allowed the being to continue. "Pardon me if I skip the pleasantries. I have heard about your dislike for what I do as is the same for a majority of the ship and I really don't care. I am not here to make friends. I take it my credentials have been verified?" The Ulian rose from the floor and took a seat on the couch, as Saleke had not been invited to sit he continued standing, cupping his hands behind his back in a non-threatening manner. "Intriguing that you should claim to know my political stance regarding the SFI 'Agent' Moto as according to your record you have been isolated within the Doenitz outer circle of agents for the past eight years while I have been in the Fleet for less than nine months. At this point however my analysis of the prodigious illogic and lack of wisdom in creating such an entity within the Federation that had gone largely unsupervised and allowed to police itself which has led to an egregious record of atrocities is beside the point." Moto's veneer of calm cracked a bit for a moment as Saleke very clearly pointed out the foundation for his disdain of the agengy. "Although it would be only too simple to mention the former head of the organization and point out the abuses to which he is putting it and his clandestine connections at this time." (Reply: Moto) "My point is this Mr. Moto," Saleke continued. "You proferred a conjecture on your part and I supplied you with my true mindset on the matter. As for whether your credentials had been verified the answer is yes. A coded transmission for the Captain and myself arrived a short time ago." (Reply: Moto) "Before you are allowed run of the ship however I have been ordered to obtain something from you." (Reply: Moto) "Simply this." Saleke watched the Ulian minutely as he waited for him to continue. "You are to supply the code-name of the first mission you were sent on and the name of the operative who gave you your orders." As these names would have been immediately sealed and destroyed outside of the original database there was little chance of anyone not Moto being able to gain access to it. Had it been in the SFI database of course Doenitz could have prepared the doppleganger for such questions however the real Moto's first mission had not been for the SFI but for the Ulian Agency for Planetary Security and Defense, LoDona had learned that from the real Moto nearly ten years ago. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.01 (USS Mystique - Deck 3 - SFI Agent Moto - 1100) "Intriguing that you should claim to know my political stance regarding the SFI 'Agent' Moto as according to your record you have been isolated within the Doenitz outer circle of agents for the past eight years while I have been in the Fleet for less than nine months. "Although it would be only too simple to mention the former head of the organization and point out the abuses to which he is putting it and his clandestine connections at this time." "These so called abuses is what it takes to protect the vary fabric of the federation and if we have to brake a few laws so that the people of this federation can sleep peacefully then so be it and I'm sorry you may disagree with our methods but it gets the job done so I don't see your point." "My point is this Mr. Moto," Saleke continued. "You proferred a conjecture on your part and I supplied you with my true mindset on the matter. As for whether your credentials had been verified the answer is yes. A coded transmission for the Captain and myself arrived a short time ago." "As I new it would so are you going to get read of this two." Moto sead pointing to the two guards. So I can saucer an office and start getting to work. "Before you are allowed run of the ship however I have been ordered to obtain something from you." "And what is that Commander." Moto sead looking at the commander in the eyes with is his cold eyes. "Simply this." Saleke watched the Ulian minutely as he waited for him to continue. "You are to supply the code-name of the first mission you were sent on and the name of the operative who gave you your orders." Moto was expecting a question like this so it did not surprised. "What I'm about to tell you is classified and under no circumstances is to leave this room. My first mission was on to infiltrate and take out a terrorist who assassinated the leader of my home world 10 years ago as for my code man was Koron and the operative in charge of that mission was Agent Zoria." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.01 (USS Mystique - Bridge - Commander Saleke - 1320) Saleke was on the bridge when Riven stepped through the turbolift doors, since the Counselor seldom graced the bridge it must have been something of importance. "Commander may I speak with you privately?" The Vulcan nodded and began walking toward the doors to the observation lounge. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.01 (USS Mystique - Observation Lounge - Commander Saleke - 1322) "What would you like to say Doctor?" He asked as the doors closed behind the two. Riven held out a PADD to the Commander and walked to a chair after he had taken it. "That is our report on Ashlitu Physioc Commander." "Our?" "Mine and Regan Alessie, I had her be my second during the scan." Saleke nodded. "Continue." Riven crossed his legs and looked at Saleke a bit sideways as though wondering how to put his thoughts into words. "His story was true as far as I could determine. There is a bigger question though that has yet to be resolved." "Which is?" "Whether he can be trusted. You did ask me that question..." "I remember Doctor, please dispense with the theatrics and tell me what you have found that makes him a risk." Riven made a gutterral noise in reply. "What do you expect me to say? I'm a mind healer not a fortune teller! Ashlitu Physioc is a very powerful telepath who appears to have little moral integrity and is capable of any number of ghastly things that I don't want to think about. He killed the Captain of the Zephyr without the least remorse and spends his off time using his mind to probe about the ship, I know because I've felt him brush my mental shields and quickly pull away only to continue his observations a bit later when he thinks no one is wise to him." "So you believe he is gathering intelligence on the ship and crew so that he can be a subversive element?" "No! I didn't say that." Riven popped out of the chair and began to pace. "I don't get that from him, it's more from curiosity I'd think, it's more what he's capable of that frightens me than what he's doing now." He stopped and looked out at the stars for a moment as Saleke watched. "Do you belive he is in actuality working for Doenitz still?" "No." Riven shook his head and looked back. "Working for himself more than anything else. I'd say Ashlitu Physioc owes allegience to Ashlitu Physioc and will work with whomever is available that is in parallel with his goals." A raised eyebrow showed Salek's understanding. "What you are saying then is he can be trusted.... but only to a certain point." "In essence yes, I'd keep my eye firmly fixed on him if I were you. I'm not saying you can't make use of him but I urge you to use caution and watch him closely." "Thank you Doctor, your report has answered all of my questions." "Glad to be of help." Riven gave a thin smile. "So what are you going to do with him then?" "He will be given duties until we return to Geneva, once there a long term determination will be made on him. In the meantime he will make no reports to Doenitz for any purpose." "Reports?" "He offered to be a pipleline for disinformation." Riven nodded. "I remember that from my contact with him. A wise choice I'd say then, or should I say logical?" His smile caused that raised eyebrow again. ~I could enjoy baiting this guy.~ Riven thought mischeviously. "Indeed. You are dismissed then Doctor, I have arrangements to make." Riven nodded and walked for the door. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.01 (USS Mystique - Bridge- Commander Saleke - 1330) Saleke followed Riven onto the bridge and walked toward the OPS station. "Lieutenant Keswick I am assigning Ashlitu Physioc to your department effective immediately, as his possible future behavior is under some suspicion I urge you to watch him carefully and report to me if he arouses your suspicions." (Reply: Travis) Saleke then turned to Jason. "Mr. Dema you may withdraw the guard from Ashlitu Physiocs quarters." (Reply: Jason) The Vulcan tapped his combadge. "Ensign Physioc report to Lieutenant Keswick Chief of Operations, he will assign your duties, first however you are to report to sickbay for a full physical examination." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Stardate: 2407.02.01 (USS Mystique - Personal quarters - CSO, Lt (jg) Ketal - 1331) Sitting up slowly at first Ketals hand reflexively reached for the tender spot on the crown of his head which had been patched up by medical. A look at the chronometer was confusing for an instant as the count didn't match up with the flow of time as he knew it since blacking out on the bridge of the ship because of his fall during the incident. Moving his gaze though from the time to the date gave him the answer he needed and quieted the doubt that had begun to creep up on him. It went unnoticed for a moment as he turned his legs so that he was sitting on the edge of the bed, it was as he was considering what to have for breakfast that it struck him... the quiet. Not the noise audible to the hearing though as he could quite clearly hear the almost inaudible sight of the life support system delivering air throughout the ship and the hum of the engines, no it was the mental quiet, the lack of the constant interruption of minds all over the ship that he had had to learn to shut out from the time he had his mental abilities expanded during his sojurn on that alien world. He could still feel Vanyssa there though, her gentle touch in his mind was comforting but she was alone, he was alone with her in his thoughts. She didn't appear to be noticing though as he attempted to contact her, perhaps she was was asleep? ~No if she was asleep her mind would still acknowledge the contact, ~It's as though she's there but unable to respond if she even hears me.~ Then the memory came back to him full force. ::NOW!!!:: ::I WILL NOT LET YOU DESTROY ME:: "Vanyssa!" He gasped and levered himself from the bed and walked quickly into the small living area where he threw himself into the chair and said. "Computer what is the location of the Captain?" [Captain is currently in sickbay recovery room 2.] "Open a channel to sickbay." [Channel open.] "Sickbay this is Lieutenant Ketal, inquiring as to the Captain's current condition." (Reply: Marto, any in sickbay) "Thank you. Is there anything I can do to help?" (Reply: Marto, any in sickbay) "Understood, Ketal out." It didn't feel satisfying somehow, all the skill in the biological sciences that he had worked hard to cultivate and make himself a name in were insufficient to help one who had undergone such mental trauma. It was good to hear though that Dr. Mias was cautiously optimistic as to her full recovery, no wonder she was unable to sense him or reply to him. It was fortunate that her attack on the Hiren had not burned her mind and mental powers out completely. That she was still unconcious at this time was understandable. A blinking light suddenly appeared on the terminal and he studied it for an instant before speaking. "Nature of the communication computer." [Report from Darson, Cynthia, assigned to Astrophysics.] "When was this report logged?" [Stardate: 2407.01.31. Time 1735 hours.] "Display." The data scrolled across the screen for several minutes as he watched intently, this reading of positrons and anti-protons was intriguing. It could be naturally occuring but that would normally show in much greater concentrations if such were the case. Non-natural or manufactured wavelengths were a possibility but not high. There were any number of variables to be calculated regarding local electromagnetic and energetic ion outputs to be factored in yet before that could become an area of investigation. There was also the fact that this report was now almost a day old and new data was no doubt available, to try to catch up with all that on his own was illogical therefore he would go to the source... and the scientist he had put in charge of the investigation. Tapping the com button he said. "Ensign Darson meet me in the CSO's office at 1400 hours and bring me the updated sensor logs from the probe sent to coordinates 023346358." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
