"A moment, please, counselor," he said, and went to talk to the MXO. "Something I can do for you, Major?" Ryko asked as the marine presented himself. "Sir, I've got four Counter Terror experts standing by, to augment your security detail for the Senior Officers." Ryko smiled. At last, some good news from a marine. "Excellent, Major," he said. "Have them report to the security office at..." Ryko checked the time "...1900," he said. I will assign them to their teams then, a brief summary of their particular skills would be helpful," Ryko finished. Spider briefly considered the backgrounds of each man and woman he had summoned. "All four are expert counter-terrorists, two are trained assassins themselves. I can provide you with a full skill and experiance background." He paused, "If ordered, they will kill anything that comes within ten feet of thier charge, or willingly get shot in the head if it means thier safety. All four will be in the typical modified CE BDU, with all the standard trimmings and a few extras." He crossed his arms behind his back, "With respect, Sir, they have more training then the average security guard. But thier arnt enough of us to cover the Command Staff full time and still carry out our battle-stations and emergency duties. It would, perhaps, be best to use them on the most important, or the least able to protect themselves. The Captain and Commander both are trained in combat and wouldnt need our constant vigillance." His antenna twitched slightly. He knew this wasnt his place, shipboard security wasnt his department, but he didnt like letting go of responsibility to anyone. "If you would trust me, we could use them to set up perimeters of defence for your security to fill, using methods that might surprise even you. And if events get... particularly dangerous... we can always stand 24 hour guard and defend to the last." Ryko raised an intrigued eyebrow. Drizzt certainly knew what he was talking about. "Well, hopefully things won't go that far," he said, noting all of the MXO's information down on the PADD he had used earlier. "It's been said before, but of course we won't just be dealing with conventional assassins, this...thing...eats people's minds, so I think it is still for the best that we monitor the captain and commander closely, just in case they have any...incidents," Ryko said, pocketing the PADD. "Your assistance is appreciated Major, if you wish you can join us at 1900, your recommendations would be appreciated. Now, if you will excuse me, the counselor and I have other business." "It should be noted," The Andorian put in quickly. "The Captain is combat trained, Sir, and the First Officer is esper blind. The First Officer can't be touched at all, and the Captain is a weak telepath but well able to fend off attacks... at least long enough to warn of a problem." Ryko nodded. "Noted," he said, and bade the MXO good day, before heading along. He tapped his badge. "Skylynx to Security officers Munro, Tilson, Marlow and Jacobs, report to the main security office at 1900, you've just become babysitters. Details will be explained then. Skylynx out." ==================================== (USS BOUDICCA- sickbay-John Fredericks TAC/AST – 15:20) ==================================== John left the engine room and made his way to the sick bay. As he arrived he was in time to see Skylynx leaving the room with the ships counselor and looking none too happy. As he had been doing for the last hour or so John “read” both his dept head and the counselor. He knew that the Counselor was an accomplished telepath but wasn’t sure if she would be able to tell that she was being “read” but just like the others John had checked he kept the check quick and then moved on since he detected no “dark” emotions, He checked Skylynx as well but instead of encountering the normal feelings he would have received from a fellow Betazed even if only half like himself all he felt was an emptiness, he did detect mixed and varied emotions but only as if from a full human without the mental gift that his Betazed heritage should have given him. ~Odd~ John thought to himself but not what I am looking for and moved on into the sickbay. ==================================== (USS Boudicca, COUNS Office, TAC/SC Ensign Ryko Skylynx, 15:27) ==================================== Ryko concentrated and closed his eyes. He started to think. ::I can hear you,:: he said weakly. Domini's smile widened at the very weak attempt at telepathic communication. ::Good, very good!:: She sent to him. ::Ryko, do you trust yourself?:: Domini asked, feeling very sensitive to him. It was easier now that the connection was established. ::Of course, If I can't trust myself, how could I trust anything or anyone else?:: he sent, wondering why Domini had asked him such a thing. ::I don't mean like that, I mean.... What about the Betazoid empathic abilities do you distrust? What event in your life made you want to shun your heritage?:: Domini asked, probing for the cause of the reason for blocking them. ::I prefer to trust my instincts,::Ryko said. ::I feel that when you probe someone for information instead of asking them or just going with your feelings, you violate their privacy, and betray their trust,:: he said uneasily, hoping this explained it. ::I guess you could say, I'm scared of my abilities.:: ::You are different than the others I have taught in that you have a fear of your abilities. Fear leads to anger and distrust and that in turn leads to more fear. Until you face what is causing the root of the problem, you will not be ab! le to master your abilities.:: Ryko tilted his head a little as the counselor grinned. ::I have a homework assignment for you, when you have some spare time, go look up a series called Star Wars - it's part of the library collection, old Earth cinema. I think you will find some similarities between yourself and some of the characters in the movies.:: Ryko quirked an eyebrow. "Star wars?" he said out loud, before remembering. ::How will looking at old earth movies help me master my potential?:: he sent, almost instantly wishing he hadn't. Domini took a deep breath. ::Relax, Ryko, take a deep breath and relax.:: Domini's voice began to say softly, almost meditatively, ::Slow, deep breaths, in and out, in and out...:: Ryko looked at the floor for a moment, and simply breathed, trying to clear his head. She could doubtless see the apology in his face. ::Look at me, Ryko. What do you see?:: This was an intriguing, yet wierd question, Ryko thought. He tried to answer. ::I see...a friend,::he settled, :::a guide, someone who can help me nurture the abilities I have, to help me master my own potential,:: he finished. ==================================== (USS BOUDICCA- sickbay-John Fredericks TAC/AST – 15:30) ==================================== John entered the sickbay and quickly located one of the attending nurses and asked for a pain killer. Remembering that he wasn’t supposed to advertise what was going on he replied that he must be working too hard when asked about his headache. After receiving a hypo he noticed the pain quickly vanished he also noticed that his shift was now over. Thanks he said to the pretty young nurse and headed back out of the sickbay. =/\=Fredericks to Rodriguez , it’ send of shift, if anything has come in for me please forward it to my terminal in my quarters. I am going to the holo deck for a work out and will take care of anything that came in afterwards. I will be in the messhall in about 2 hours if you would like to join me ?=/\= =/\= Can’t tonight John=/\=, replied Rodriguez =/\= I already have plans but maybe another night.=/\=. =/\=No problem, see you tomorrow=/\= John told him by way of signing off.He turned and headed back towards the turbo lift and the Holo deck. ==================================== (USS Boudicca, COUNS Office, TAC/SC Ensign Ryko Skylynx, 15:32) ==================================== ::You WILL relax if I have to force you to.:: Ryko was surprised at the Counselor's sudden aggression, but he maintained his focus. ::Now watch what I do, and then I'll let you try on your own.:: Ryko felt himself let go, but not through his own will. She was making him relax. His first instinct was to resist, but he decided against it. He let himself relax and felt a wierd serenity envelop him. ::That's better. Now, you try it.:: Domini sent. Ryko took a deep breath, and pictured himself. He imagined himself just sighing a long frustrated sigh, and let go of all his problems. He felt serene, sitting there, completely blissful. It took a few attempts to get it close to anywhere near what Domini had done, but Ryko tried. He was keen to learn. ::What do you feel.:: She said, her face still serene. Ryko's head buzzed. For a strange moment he felt a short, sharp burst of desire. He shook it off. Then for the same blink of an eye, he felt scared. Terrified. Just as quickly the feeling was gone. ~What was that?~ he thought, but shook off the feeling. ::This is going to feel..strange and might hurt.:: Domini sent. Ryko already knew what she was going to do. Sure enough, he felt a small contortion in each part of his mind, where the blocks supposedly were. His face flinched a little as one of them was examined. He opened his eyes to see the counselor sitting normally again. Ryko let the feeling of bliss go and listened to her. "Interesting." She said. "I'm going to block your abilities completely. For now." Ryko wanted to protest but she silenced him. "I can't remove the blocks all at once, and when I do you are going to have a horrible headache. I don't think it's wise to incapacitate the head of security right now. And trust me that you will be incapacitated. I also don't want to leave you vulnerable to whatever is hunting right now. So..." And Domini took a deep breath. "Any objections?" Ryko looked at the floor, breathed, and looked straight back at her. "None," Ryko said eventually. "But I don't want a permanent block," he said. "Just enough to let me get back to work." ==================================== (USS Boudicca, COUNS Office, COUNS Dr. Domini Alizara, 15:32) ==================================== ::Look at me, Ryko. What do you see?:: :I see...a friend,::he settled, :::a guide, someone who can help me nurture the abilities I have, to help me master my own potential,:: he finished. Domini kept her thoughts serene even if part of her wanted to scream. All of what he said was certainly true, but not enough. He wasn't relaxing. She reached out, and took a firm grip on his mind. ::You WILL relax if I have to force you too.:: She said, showing him in that moment how dangerous this assassin could be. ::Now watch what I do, and then I'll let you try on your own.:: She showed him how the body was really interconnected with the mind and that by visualizing the body you could affect it. She showed him how to relax the correct way, how to breathe properly so that the breaths went down to your diaphragm. She opened her eyes and watched as the tension literally drained out of him. ::That's better. Now, you try it.:: She sent, letting the grip up and him try it. (reply) After a couple more attempts, he was closer, probably as close as he was going to get this time. Considering that he was basically unshielded she began to project one of the more intense emotions that she could think of - pure lust. ::What do you feel.:: She said, her face still serene. When he didn't respond, not even his body, she switched to pure fear. Again no response. ::This is going to feel..strange and might hurt.:: Domini said, then began to examine the blocks in his mind. She poked at them and prodded them a bit, eliciting tension and winces of pain. "Interesting." She said, letting the link drop. She stretched her body out, and thought for a moment. "I'm going to block your abilities completely. For now." She held up her hand. "Any objections?" ==================================== (Boudicca, Main Engineering, FO, Commander Grailik, 1542) ==================================== Having just finished his conversation with Lt. West, Grailik was having a look around Main Engineering himself to keep up with the current state of the Boudicca's systems. Shortly he noticed Ensign Fredericks enter engineering and headed his way after he motioned he had something to report. "Sir," Fredericks started, "I have not found anyone in the stunned type state you had mentioned nor have I located any one with any violent emotions. I have how ever noticed two missing hand weapons from the Marines armory. The Duty officer checked and there is no log of them being checked out or assigned to any one and no one admits to have taken them. "Also there is a power build up in engineering that I cannot account for that has grown by 2% consecutively for the last three days. I am not an engineer so it may be nothing unusual but under the circumstances I thought I should mention it." Grailik's brow rose as he took the PADD Fredericks offered and quickly scanned the data. He frowned as he looked up from the PADD to the Ensign. "Show this data to either Lt. West or Ensign Siam and have them look into that power build up. I want the cause determined and if it poses a threat to the ship or crew. I will inform Major Drizzt about the missing weapons and have him look into that matter further." Grailik handed the PADD back to Fredericks as he finished speaking. "Aye sir, If that's all I need to stop by sickbay and then return to my duties." Fredericks said, taking the PADD back. "Once you've informed the CEO or ACEO of that power build up then you are free to head to sickbay Ensign." Grailik said, nodding his head in Lt. West's direction, then heading toward the nearest turbo-lift. Grailik slapped his com-badge once the lift started moving. "Commander Grailik to Major Drizzt. Report to my office on the double." ==================================== (USS Boudicca, COUNS Office, COUNS Dr. Domini Alizara, 15:42) ==================================== "I can't remove the blocks all at once, and when I do you are going to have a horrible headache. "Just enough to let me get back to work." She nodded, taking control of his mind again. ::This might hurt.:: She said, examining the blacks and forming new bubbles on top of them, placing padding into the 'holes' that the blocks didn't completely cover. She looked up at him, when she finished a few minutes later. Then she repeated her test of fear and lust. "What do you feel?" She asked, frowning and looking at him. He seemed incomplete somehow, and Domini wondered how he survived without his abilities. She would miss them if they were taken away, they were such a part of her. (reply) "You should be able to work, but really, you should go back to your quarters and rest. This has been hard on you, and you have a very capable assistant who is more than willing to help. speaking of which, how are you and Mr. Fredericks getting along? I sense some tension between the two of you." ==================================== (USS Boudicca, COUNS Office, TAC/SC Ensign Ryko Skylynx, 15:42) ==================================== ::This might hurt.:: came another telepathic message. Ryko braced himself. His head buzzed for a few moments, and those same flickers of emotions briefly passed through his mind. To his surprise, he still resisted. "What do you feel?" Domini asked, frowning and looking at him. "Normal," he said. "But I keep getting these flickers of wierd emotions." Ryko realised what emotions they were and couldn't help a laugh. He knew it was only a test and dismissed it, returning to the previous topic. "Am I all patched up, counselor?" he asked simply, standing. "You should be able to work, but really, you should go back to your quarters and rest. This has been hard on you, and you have a very capable assistant who is more than willing to help. speaking of which, how are you and Mr. Fredericks getting along? I sense some tension between the two of you." Ryko frowned and scratched the back of his head. "Tension?" he asked, quirking his head a little. "I didn't think it was tension, just new job jitters," he admitted. "But you're right, I really should give him more responsibility," he said. He straightened up and smiled. "Good advice, counselor, and thanks for your help," he said, and headed towards the door. (Reply Alizara) "Any trouble, you will be the first to know," Ryko said. His head felt clearer. "Thanks again," he said, and left the counselor's office. On his way along the corridor, he checked the time. It was time for his meeting with the security staff. He tapped his badge. "Ensign Fredericks, would you join me in the security office, please, as soon as possible," Ryko said. (Reply Fredericks) "Let's just say I'm putting you at the helm of our fair trade," Ryko finished. "Skylynx out," he said, and closed the channel. ~An interesting yet cryptic response, perfect,~he smiled to himself as he headed to the meeting. ==================================== (Boudicca, Main Engineering, , Tac/AST John Fredericks, 1545) ==================================== "Show this data to either Lt. West or Ensign Siam and have them look into that power build up. I want the cause determined and if it poses a threat to the ship or crew. I will inform Major Drizzt about the missing weapons and have him look into that matter further." Grailik handed the PADD back to Fredericks as he finished speaking. "Aye sir" John said as he took the PADD back fro the FO. =/\= Computer, Location of LT West please?=/\= =/\= LT. WEST IS IN MAIN ENGINEERING =/\= John looked around but since he didnt see the engineer from his vantage point, he stepped further out into the bay and found West on top of a cat walk talking to some of his crew. John headed to the ladder and climbed up to the next level and moved to where the engineer could see him but stayed out of the way until he had finished talking. Lt. West, while running a few test and internal scans I happened across this. I can't place why there would be a build up of energy down here but then Im a little out of my field. There might not be any reason for any alarm but then again after everything that has been happening Grailik wants it run down and checked out. It isn't a fast build up but it keeps increasing by 2%. John handed the PADD to West If there is any thing I can do to help , let me know, Right now I am off to sick bay for a bit then off shift. Call me though if there is something I can do ==================================== (USS Boudicca, FO's Office, FO, Commander Grailik, 15:47) ==================================== Grailik was seated behind his desk, a fresh mug of coffee in hand when Major Drizzt entered. Grailik set the mug down and pushed a PADD toward the Major. "Ensign Fredericks has discovered two phasers missing from the Marine armory. He checked with the duty officer and there is no record of who took those weapons or why. The marines are responsible for the integrity of their armory. You will look in to this matter, figure out who took the weapons, why. Once recovered, those responsible will be turned over to security for disciplinary action. Question?" Grailik said, his tone a clear indicator that he was not pleased that someone had been able to remove two weapons unnoticed from the marine armory. ==================================== (USS Boudicca - FO's Office - Major Drizzt - 15:47) ==================================== Drizzt entered the room and looked around briefly. His antenna twitched under the BDU, rather useless even if the suit did have specially designed sensors built into it. He came to attention, "Reporting as ordered." The First Officer wasted no time. Question?" Drizzt's face-guard was open on his helmet; his face could have been made of stone. "Any information Ensign Fredericks has come up with will be useful, you will have the responsible parties... soon." (Reply: Grailik) The Andorian turned on his heel and exited again. Once the door had closed, the string of curses that followed him were enough to wilt plants, and the foolish ensign that crossed his path. After several long moments, however, he spoke into his mic, "Major Straton to the Secure Armory, All Armory Marines to the Armory ON. THE. DOUBLE." (reply: Straton) ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Marine Center, Outside the Armory - Major Drizzt - 15:47) ==================================== Drizzt crossed his arms and looked at the men and women assembled before him. "Major," he said to Straton, "We've some details to talk about, but this should give you the gist..." without waiting he turned back to the Marines. "TEN HUT!" The squads' worth of Armorors came to complete attention, as did the squad of Marines that was delegated to Armory duty for this week. Drizzt looked at all of them sharply, "As of this moment, all of you are on report. And at least some of you are going up the Captain's Mast, or perhaps a general court martial, for dereliction of duty. You..." he spat a string of Andorian curses, mostly in describing their parentage and family trees... and not once did primates didn't enter the equation at all, in the case of humanoids. He finally paused, on the knife-edge of real anger, the first they ever would have seen. And, then, in a dangerously calm voice he said. "Phasers are missing from our armory, not only did someone manage to nab them right from under the noses of the most paranoid Marines in This Man's Starfleet... but it took a Security Officer to discover the theft." He paused for long moments, letting that sink in. "We are in an alert situation, and we are missing weapons. I think you are beginning to see the point... however, let me make it clear for the incredibly dense among you. If those weapons aren't found, and I mean double-pronto, I'm going to put my boot up your arses and my phaser to your heads. Now..." he looked at them once more, then in his loudest battle-field voice filled out by rage, bellowed; "MOVE IT!" Without waiting he turned back, "Major, a word before I put another squad on detail to watch this bunch?" He didn't want to admit loudly they had a problem, Straton would be thinking the same. There were good and innocent Marines in this bunch, but the odds that at least one of them was a traitor was starting to look him straight in the face... he wasn't about to leave them unescorted for long. ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Marine Center, Outside the Armory, Major Straton, 15:48) ==================================== Eva had been confused by Spider call but waited patiently for her XO to explain what was going on. "Major," he said to Straton, "We've some details to talk about, but this should give you the gist..." without waiting he turned back to the Marines. "TEN HUT!" Eva only nodded waiting, but she knew that something was terribly wrong. She could tell by the level of anger Spider was putting out. She put her arms behind her and waited while her XO explained. Her eyes narrowed at the mention of the missing phasers, and her jaw clenched. Someone was gonna pay and dearly. Only a very limited number of people had access to the armory. You could count them all with both hands, so the list of suspects was rather short. "Major, a word before I put another squad on detail to watch this bunch?" Spider said after dismissing the armory marines. "In my office," She said, her voice ice. She turned and lead the way, slamming the door behind Spider. "We've got a traitor in our midst," She said as soon as the door closed, "Possibly the same one who attacked Rin, but I doubt it. What do you got so far?" Eva was mad as hell, but one thing that experience had taught her, never let anger cloud your judgment. ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Marine Center, Outside the Armory - Major 'Spider' Drizzt 15:53) ==================================== "Major, a word before I put another squad on detail to watch this bunch?". "In my office," she said coldly. The Andorian followed her, his antenna twitching all the while. Once inside the office, it was more then obvious the MCO was highly pissed off. That was fine, so was Spider. He was coldly analytical, a dead giveaway that he was FAR from happy. "We've got a traitor in our midst," She said as soon as the door closed, "Possibly the same one who attacked Rin, but I doubt it. What do you got so far?" Drizzt pulled a small pad from his easy-reach pocket in the BDU. "Not much, not nearly enough." He handed the padd over and crossed his arms behind his back. Before saying anything else, however, he brought his helmet close to his face and said, "Drizzt to CXE, select three members of the Fallen Angels and play babysitter duty on the Armory crew. We have a traitor somewhere, boys and girls, I don't know if it's a Marine but I'm taking no chances. Further details to come." His earpiece buzzed in acknowledgement. He considered his next words, "I would like to think we don't have a traitor, at least one not as stupid as this appears to be. There are only so many people with regular access to the Weapons hold, it's far to obvious. If we can find out how they disappeared, we can find a list of logical candidates and..." he stopped, what he wanted to do to the traitor and what he would do were two different things... ... perhaps. ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Security office - TAC/SC Ensign Ryko Skylynx- 1700) ==================================== Ryko was actually the first person there, and he sat and watched as the pre-selected security officers and marines arrived at the office to recieve their orders. He simply sat and waited until everyone had arrived. This wouldn't take long, and John was no doubt puzzled as to what Ryko had meant by "putting him at the helm". Ryko stood, and rapped on the table to quiet the developing hubbub. "Alright, you're all probably wondering what you're doing here, so let me make this quick and simple, I know we're all eager to turn in early," he said. He knew that wouldn't happen, but he said it anyway. He looked around. "Congratulations, people," Ryko said. "You've all just become babysitters." The crowd shared a stifled chuckle. Ryko smiled. It was nice to see theat the security forces still had a sense of humour. "As you all know, we've been having on-off attacks by some sort of psychic assassin," he said, to the attentive marines and security officers present. "Normally an assassin would call for a simple security attachment, but since we're dealing with a psyker... ( NRPG: Alright, how many Warhammer 40K players are around here?) RPG: "...then we've been assigned a squad of marines who are trained to deal with such threats. The first thing I'm going to do is pair you off into teams, then assign you to your protectorates. Follow their every move, keep an open comm channel, anything even remotely suspicious, report it to me or Major Drizzt," Ryko said. He looked at John, who had just arrived, and back again. "Alright, here's your teams," he said, and picked up a padd. NRPG: Can't actually remember the names, so I'm giving them random ones. RPG: "Chief petty officer Marx, you will be working with 2nd Lt. Ramires," Ryko said. "You'll be watching the counselor," he said. "And please, she's already an empath, there's no need to constantly scan her mind. Once every hour is good enough, don't interrupt her work," he said, and moved on. "Security officer Anderson and Marine Thomas, you twowill be stationed in sickbay, general guard duty," he said. "Any wierd stuff, you know who to call." Another pair nodded and accepted their assignment. "Sanders and Marie," he said, and another pair came forward. "You're watching engineering," Ryko said and handed them a padd. "And finally, Marine Jacobs and Petty officer Simone, you will be watching our good captain," he said, he remembered what Drizzt had said earlier but it would make the crew feel safer to know that their captain was protected. "That is all, dismissed," he said, and en masse the assigned teams went to their assignments. Fredericks stepped forward. "Ah, John, just the person I wanted to see," Ryko said, as he sat down. "Have a seat," he offered. (Reply Fredericks) "I'm sure you're wondering what I meant earlier on, well I'll get straight to the point. I had my empathic abilities blocked as a child, and recently those blocks began to break down. That would be why you saw me and the counselor in sickbay," he said, leaning back a little. (Reply Fredericks) "I have been given good advice to get some rest, and allow the repairs the counselor has effected on my abilities to take effect, therefore," Ryko said, standing and pressing a keypad control. "I, Ensign Senior Grade Ryko Jay Skylynx, Chief tactical and security officer of the USS Boudicca, hereby cede the duties of TAC and Security chief to Ensign Junior grade John Fredericks, for a period of 24 hours," he said. [Confirmation Required] "Confirm duty transfer, authorisation Skylynx two-seven-delta-phoenix," Ryko said, in a wierdly serious voice. (Reply Fredericks) [Duty transfer complete] Ryko relaxed. "Congratulations, John, the reins are yours, for now," Ryko said, offering a hand. (Reply Fredericks) "Nonsense," Ryko said. "You'll be fine. I've noticed that you've been looking for a chance to get some experience at the tactical station, I'll still be handling security matters, but that's mostly paperwork. You're in charge of the fun stuff for a full day, enjoy it," he said. (Reply Fredericks) "No sweat," Ryko smiled. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to bed, doctor's orders," he said, and left. On his way to his quarters, a thought struck Ryko's mind. ~Oh, yeah, I'm meant to be cooking tonight.~ ==================================== (USS Boudicca- Counselor's Quarters- Dr. Domini Alizara & Dr. Madison Munroe, 1830) ==================================== When Maddie had fianlly heard about the Counselor being in sick bay she had become concerned. She had just made friends with Domini and she didn't like the idea that she might have been hurt. After a little tracking she found that Domini had been released from sick bay and was in her quarters. Maddie thought that it would be a good idea to see how she was doing. As she approached her door she checked herself., making sure that her clothing was neat and tidy. That was odd, why would she even care or notice. But still, Maddy was self conscious about it. She rang the door chime. Domini looked up, somewhat surprised by the person that was out there. Ever since she had worked with Ryko, she felt abnormally sensitive to all the people around her. ~If I didn't know better, I would think it was this mysterious assassin.~ And with that Domini chuckled, putting down her weaving, then looking down at the robe that she was wearing. There wasn't anything on underneath it, and her short blond curls were still damp from her recent shower. ~Maddie won't mind.~ And with that Domini actually hit the button on the door staring into Maddie's eyes. "Hi, Maddie." Domini said, smiling, then took a step back to give her friend some breathing space. Domini ignored the nervousness and turned away, taking a couple of steps back over to her loom and began to work again. "Have a seat, Maddie. Tell me why you are so nervous." ~Now why am *I* so nervous???? "Me? Nervous?" Maddie tried to play off her own feelings, then she remembered that Domini probably already sensed her emotions. "Well, first of all I heard that my friend Domini had a mishap in sick bay. I was concerned for her, so I thought I'd pay a call." Maddie stepped into the room and gave Domini a hug. "Are you all right? I was a little concerned. But looking at you now, I find it hard to believe that there was anything wrong with you." Domini was suddenly enveloped in warm caring arms, which caused her to blush bright red, and the gap of her robe to fall open a bit. "I... One of my patients suffered a bit of badness due to him being half-Betazoid, and I had to go in and fix it. The consequence was that I passed out at the Doctor's feet afterwards. You know how Doctor's are... he didn't want to let me out of his grasp." The skin to skin contact was cool and refreshing, surprising to say the least. ~What is it about her that turns me on this way?~ Domini wondered, missing Jade again. And Meiko. "Come... sit beside me, and tell me what is troubling you. I confess that I could use a friend tonight, Madison." Domini said seriously... seeing Meiko's slit throat from an evil Admiral, the poor terribly submissive Meiko...and Jade's mangled body from an explosion in her office. The most talented neurologist in Starfleet was blown up because her political views didn't match those of the current administration. Of course, they didn't say that...It was just that they were traitors, terrorists, assassins. They killed her not because she was her, but because it was a hit on Starfleet Academy. Supposably the safest place in the world. ~Oh, Jade...~ And with that the tears did begin to leak out. Domini had never really let herself mourn the loss of Jade and Meiko.... Maddie was not oblivious to the counselors dress and when her hand touched her bare flesh she felt the same pleasure that she had felt earlier. Ah the joys of being a woman in lust. But she had to put that behind her, for now. Plenty of time for that later. She let Domini lead her to the sofa and sat beside her. "I do know doctors," Maddie agreed. "I think they enjoy all that sadistic poking and prodding." ~Lord knows I'd enjoy some poking and prodding right now.~ She had to shake that thought away. Domini was so close, and the open gown left little to the imagination. ~Stop it. Perhaps work will get me focused.~ "The captain has assigned me to put together an away team. He's left me in charge. I can hardly put away my undies, forget putting together a team," her exhasperation, and sudden relief at having shared the reason she had left her quarters in the first place, came out. "Oh Domini, I need some help. She pulled out her PADD and moved closer to Domini. She was leaning against Maddie, looking over her shoulder. Maddie could feel Domini's body press against her. She allowed herself to lean back against the Betazoid. She felt warm and comforting. "See, I did put myself on the away team," she giggled. "How could I pass up an opportunity to see a culture at that level of development? And then I have you, becuase I'm sure we could use your skills. And I'm sure we need some protection, so some security would be nice. And of course and engineer, but I have no idea who." "What about Grailik?" Domini asked. "Or Eva Straton?" Domini thought for a moment. "Or whatshisface, the new Assistant Security Chief. He's part Betazoid, I'm assuming that they are basically 'human'oid in appearance, so we wouldn't want to take someone like Mr. Drizzt with us. I think when going into a possibly hostile situation it's a good idea to take a marine or two. They are trained to almost always be on their guard, and many of the marines have other skills that would be useful. Why do you think an Engineer would be a good idea? " Domini was just tossing out ideas. Then she grinned. "I don't know about you Maddie, but I'm not capable of taking care of myself beyound the basic self defense training we all get." Maddie just about choked when Domini refered to John Fredericks as "whatshisface." But she listened intently to her suggestions. "I took that same course. I don't remember doing to well in it. I'm not much of a fighter,or at least, not in that way. Although I could give the enemy a tongue lashing they won't soon forget. Maybe we should learn some of that martial arts stuff. We could do it together." Domini grinned. "Maybe." She said, laughing. "I had a good friend who did it. She seemed to enjoy it." "Back to the problem at hand." Maddie put her arm around Domini as they went over the crew roster. They looked at who would be a good candidate for the mission. "I'd like an engineer along in case we come across a situation where we need to access the planet's technology. I know their technology is way behind ours, but I'm not sure what we'll find down there." Maddie turned and found her face inches from Domini's The heat from her body continued to make her tense. She wanted so badly to kiss her. It had been so long since she had allowed herself someone to care about. Domini flushed at having Maddie so close to her. She got up and began to pace the small confines of her living area. "You want to know what I'm thinking right now?" She said, nearly at wits end. "You want to know what I was thinking of before my beautiful and maddingly sexy friend walked in the door? I was thinking about my two best friends in the world...and how they are both dead." Domini grabbed Maddie by the hand and dragged her into the bedroom. Hanging over the bed were the pictures of Jade and Domini together, as well as the ones of Meiko. Domini pointed. "Doenitz killed her." Then pointed again. "And Doenitz killed her too." And with that Domini did start to cry again. "And I miss Jade so much." She said, letting it all out. "She was incredible. So soft, and gentle, the perfect scientist, logical. Meiko kept our house for us, and slept with us, she was part of us... more subservient, but a part of us. She belonged to Jade. And Jade was my other half. And she's gone and I'm sooo lonely." Domini hid her head in her arms and sobbed. "And now you probably hate me. I know how abnormal it is." Maddie had imagined herself in Domini's bedroom before this moment, but not under these circumstances. Standing before her was the woman she wanted to hold, totally vulnerable. She had just, and unexpectedly, bared her soul to the sociologist. Insinctively Maddie went to comfort her friend. They sat down on the edge of the bed and Maddie held her. Then it struck her, what Domini had said. "Do yo really think that?" She looked at Domini, "You know, that I'm "beautiful and maddeningly sexy?"" She reached over and wiped a tear from Domini's cheek. "Why would I hate you? I think you're exciting and amazing." Domini looked back and nodded, and leaned into Maddie's caress. "Are you telling me, Miss Madison, that you like girls?" Domini said in a disapproving, teacher-like voice that held a hint of hysterical laughter and just a bit of hope in it. Maddie looked at her as if she had asked the most obvious question in the universe. "Didn't you know? I thought you knew. I mean, I don't wear a big badge that says "I'm a lesbian" on it, but yes, I like girls. And I really like one girl in particular. Can you think who that one girl is? I'll give you a hint." At that Madison leaned over and kissed Domini on the lips. Domini blushed then returned the kiss with interest. Her hands moved of their own volition underneath Maddie's uniform top, reveling in the heat of her skin and the feel of it. Kissing girls was infinitely different and in some ways better than kissing boys. This Domini knew, but each had their own... charms. Domini pulled away from the kiss before more happened. "You don't mind that I like both?" She asked. Some that liked girls didn't like those that liked boys too. Maddie closed her eyes, revelingin the pleasure oof having Domini's hands touching he bare flesh. It was taking her breath away. She wanted more. "No," Maddie said, "I don't see what you see in men, but I don't mind." What she did mind was that she had stopped. "I know that you're seeing someone else Domini. I'm not looking for a life time commitment...yet." With that she slid her had inside the betazoids robe and lightly stroked the flesh there. Her hand lingering on what was obviously a sensitive spot for Domini. Domini giggled, then gasped. She decided that they could talk about this later. She pulled Maddie down onto the bed, covering Maddie's body with her own and kissing her deeply. Domini moved her mouth over to Maddie's ear, blowing gently into it, then beginning to nibble on it. She used a knee to part Maddie's knees, then pulled up a bit and began to undo the uniform top...finding the zipper and pulling it very slowly downwards, exposing the tank top underneath. Domini peeled the top back, and then cupped Maddie's breasts, her thumbs lightly rubbing Maddie's nipples. Jade had liked having love made to her, which was fine with Domini. She liked bringing pleasure. Maddie closedher eyes, abandoning herself, and her task, to the sensations that had been taunting her all day. Her body resonated with the intense feelings that she was recieving from the ministrations of Domini. She breathed deeply as the cool air touched her warm body, and then the touch of Domini's hands. A small moan of pleasure escaped her lips. She felt the pressure of Domini's knee, pressed between her legs and increased the pressure as she pushed back. She let loose another moan as another wave of pleasure ran through her. It was as if she knew exactly where to touch. Maddie felt hands run down her body and grasp the waist band of her pants. She lifted her hips and allowed them to be removed. Suddenly she rolled over and lay on top of Domini. The robe fell to the side and gave Maddie a full view of Domini's beauty. Slowly she lowered her head and gently kissed her breasts. Domini cried out, not used to having another on top. Maddie's weight pinned her down and caused Domini to cry out, and then when Maddie's mouth found a breast, Domini writhed against the bed. "No fair to have you on top." Domini whispered, then laughed. "So how do you feel about..toys?" And she smiled. Packed away in the trunk was her set of toys that she and Jade used. Maddie raised an eyebrow. "This may take a little longer than I first thought," she said with smile. She lay ontop of Domini and gave her a long deep kiss. ==================================== (USS Boudicca, deck 19 holo deck 5 John Fredericks, 19:00) ==================================== John watched the last of his antagonist leap from a 12 foot rock face and try to knock him from his feet. He spun and kicked the humanoid in the side of the head stunning him and then swept his legs and knocked him to the ground. Breathing hard John stood and scanned the area looking at the various bodies surrounding him. ~6 in and 6 out~ he thought, ~this starting to get interesting but I think I will have to finish this scenario later~. =/\= Computer. Save program and end =/\= =/\= PROGRAM SAVED, SIMULATION ENDED. PLEASE EXIT HOLODECK. John picked up his towel and wrapped it across his shoulder and left the Holodeck stepping quickly out of the way of a couple of crewmen as he did so. By the large basket the girl was carrying they must be on their way for a picnic. Heading toward the turbo lift John entered and fell back against the rear of the lift “Home Jives” he said with a worn out sigh =/\= DESTINATION NOT WITHIN PARAMETERS =/\= =/\= Deck 9 =/\= John replied. Humming to himself John waited the few seconds it took to get to deck 9 and exited the lift. While walking to his quarters John scanned the immediate area mentally but found everything normal. John entered his small cabin and hit the shower enjoying the feel of warmth after a stressful workout. ==================================== (Boudicca- 10 Forward-John Fredericks-19:45) ==================================== After getting cleaned up John took off to the mess hall and picked up dinner. An hour later John had wound up in deck 10 in 10 forward and was currently getting beaten severely at a game of 3d chess. Normally John was at best a substandard player at this game but at the moment he wasn’t even playing up to his usual low standards. The fact that his opponent was a cute young ensign didn’t help matters at all. After being beaten soundly John figured he would quit while he was ahead and after bidding the young woman goodnight he left for the lift and his quarters. ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Personal Quarters-John Fredericks, 20:00) ==================================== John entered his cabin and dug out a fresh uniform for the next day, not that he was a neat freak or one of those people that must have everything “just so”. John liked his sack time and this way he could sleep a bit longer. Besides it was a habit he had picked up at the Academy when they insisted on doing night drills. After winding up a few last minute things he dropped on the bed and crawled in. =/\= Computer, lights off =/\= Darkness fills the small room and quiet fills it until several hours later. ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Security Center, Interactive Holographic Control Center - Senior Chief Petty Officer Melody Haverstaad - 2219) ==================================== "Umm, well lets check out both shall we, always good to be thorough." Melody nodded in reply and began looking through items that could conceivably fit a small Type-1 personal phaser, or the more durable and larger Type 2. There wasn't much, unlike most other items; a phaser's shape could not be significantly altered. The type 2 was nearly impossible to match; there were a few small things that fit the type one. She paused as the CEO pointed one out, "That one looks good, but let's eliminate it, I think it would be suspicious if we were carrying around something like that. People may think we have explosives or something." She quirked an eyebrow at his grin. Then pointed out something, "This is a.... cell phone. It has several generational models, the earliest of them would fit the general dimensions of a type-1 (reply, if desired) "Okay, things are looking good here, and before you ask me, No. I don't know if there is an away mission and I only know slightly more then you do. I am not authorized to tell you anything beyond what you already know. Yes, there is a planet, and yes, we are back in time. Besides that, I am just guessing on what is going on. I will know, hopefully soon, what the hell is going on." She nodded, whether or not it was true, she accepted that there were details she couldn't know. Senior Chief or not, high on the non-com rank list or not, she wasn't an officer and could only be told that which she was cleared for. She pointed at another piece of... something. Then consulted a list, "This is... a personal containment device, uh... the computer identifies it as a purse." She looked back up, "Typically only carried by women. We wouldn't even need to alter it, just throw some medical gear in it and close it up. It wouldn't have the strength of the actual medical case, but it would be well concealed providing a woman carried it." Trevan looked at it and nodded in agreement, "Yeah but what if there aren't any women on the away, er," he paused and chose his words carefully, "Well, how about that there?" he pointed at the backpack, or what they called a backpack anyway, "That could conceal just as well at the 'purse' but carry much more weight and be less conspicuous when carried by a man." She looked at it, "Depends on where this theoretical away team was going," she said. Melody paused as she consulted the cultural information she had up, and tapped a few options. "Students and camping enthusiasts are the only ones who use backpacks, as far as we can tell. Someone who looked young enough to be a student could conceivably carry it off." ==================================== (Boudicca, Outside Sickbay, MCO, Major Straton, 2313) ==================================== Eva was talking to a couple of marines outside of sickbay when Rin exited. She ignored him, paying him no more attention than she did anyone else, not wanting to tip her hand that she was still watching the CSO mentally. ::You must really like my mind... considering you entered twice.:: Rin sent to her. Eva turned to face the CSO, and simply inclined her head. She hadn't tried to hide when she had entered Rin's mind the second time, so wasn't really concerned that he was aware of it. ::I guess I owe you big... meet me later on the holodeck when your shift is over.:: One corner of Eva's mouth twisted upward in half a smile at the invitation. ::I did my duty, which is to protect this ship and her crew. You do not owe me anything. Your gratitude is enough. I will be busy looking for the one responsible for attacking you. Maybe some other time.:: Rin smiled broadly, blew her a kiss and then gave her a sloppy salute. Eva chuckled, as Rin turned and headed toward the turbo-lift. She watched him leave then turned back to the marines she had been talking to. ==================================== (Boudicca - Science Labs - CSO/2O Kyle Morie Rin - 2329) ==================================== "Work on it, Lieutenant, find out how much we can grab at once. We can get you minute quantities of the substance to test, if necessary." "Aye, i'll inform you the slightest should anything come up." Kyle listened as Sevant asked him one last question before focusing on the CEO. "Do you have anything on this culture's history of technology that isn't listed on the database? It would be helpful in case of an emergency." "Aside from what is located in are database i'm afraid not... Should they have something advanced or unlisted i'm afraid we'd be on our own should there be an emergency." ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Counselors Quarters- Dr. Madison Munroe- 2330) ==================================== =^=Sevant to Ensign Monroe, report to the Science Labs within 10 minutes with your best recommendations for an undercover away team.=^= Maddie stirred at the sound of the captain's voice. She managed to disentagle herself from Domini's sweat covered body. "Damn." She tapped her comm badge. "I'll be right there captain." =^=Sevant to Lieutenant Alizara, report to the science labs.=^= She had to stiffle a giggle as Domini responded in a similar manner. Maddie jumped out of the bed and gathered her clothes. Her body ached a little from the exertion of their earlier activities, but she couldn't help but smile. She ran over to Domini's sonic shower and began cleaning up. She was dressed in record time, and fixing her hair, when she felt Domini's arms wrap around her. She enjoyed it for a moment and then tried to disengage. "Domoni, please, the captain didn't sound to happy to begin with. Now where the hell is that PADD." (reply Domini) Maddie picked up the PADD and lookied at it. She hadn't really come to any conclusions about anything. She stuck her tongue out at the PADD, wishing it would just make the decision for her. She was going to have to do it on the way down to the science labs. She'd have what, two minutes. Well, she always did thrive under pressure. She turned to look at the forlorn look on Domini's face. "We'll have to do this again." (reply Domini) She walked to the door, trying to look as soultry as she could. See you soon. You'd better hurry, or the captain might give you a spaning." With that she stepped out and headed for the turbo lift. ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Counselors Quarters- Dr. Domini Alizara- 2333) ==================================== =^=Sevant to Ensign Monroe, report to the Science Labs within 10 minutes with your best recommendations for an undercover away team.=^= Domini stirred as Maddie was untangling herself. "Grrr." She said under her breath, then slightly more awake, "I forgot you were an Ensign." She said with a grin. Then the Captain called her and Domini cursed herself. "Aye, Sir, I'll be there as soon as I can." She heaved a sigh as she watched Maddie running around the Quarters. "Domini, please, the captain didn't sound to happy to begin with. Now where the hell is that PADD." Domini clutched Maddie closer to her. "The Captain hasn't been happy for a very long time, Maddie. It has nothing to do with you." She said, staring down at her. "Listen to me, girl, one, he's part vulcan, two, he's the Captain and three, he has had a lot of loss in his life. He's in a situation I wouldn't want to be stuck in with a traitor on board." Domini finished. She held Maddie by the arms, and smiled down at her. "It is NOT you. You go give him your recommendations. I'll be along in a few minutes." Domini grinned, then headed off to her own shower while Maddie ran out. Domini shook her head, chuckling, then headed over to the science labs. ==================================== (Boudicca, Corridor, CO & FO, Captain Sevant & Commander Grailik, 2337) ==================================== Grailik followed Sevant quietly as they walked down the corridor toward the turbo-lift. He had many questions but he would not question Sevant in front of the crew. Once they entered the lift and it started on its way, Grailik looked at Sevant. "You intend to hit the largest concentration of metal? Also, I was not aware that you had Lt. Munroe putting together an away team. The First Officer usually has some say in away team duty. Is there a reason why I was not consulted before hand?" Grailik asked, his tone still respectful, though his displeasure evident in his posture. "They do, and you will. I had Monroe put together options for a team suitable for a pre-first contact civilization." Sevant said, taking the second question first. "Talk with her about it, but the final call is yours." Grailik nodded, making a note to do it soon. "As for the metal, I'm of the mind that one large-scale raid will go off easier, with less chance of failure or detection, then several small ones. Once it becomes obvious that several metal depositories are being..." he paused, a look of distaste passing on his face, "robbed, then security all around will be increased." He put his hands behind his back, "But I'm waiting for the CEO and CSO's recommendation before giving the final go-ahead, and I'm interested in your thoughts as well." "Have you considered the full ramifications of doing that?" Grailik said, "Robbing their version of Fort Knox on Earth. There is still a lot of paranoia and suspicion down there. I've been reviewing the data collected. They are not gonna believe 'little green men' robbed their largest monetary depository so they could get home. They will most likely believe another planetary faction is involved. As that would be the most logical conclusion. It could very well spark a full scale planetary war, which as you know would be a direct and vagrant violation of the Prime Directive." "I have considered that," Sevant said, "Which is why we are going to scout the place first, gather some more information. Their mining camps are also heavily fortified, and unless we desire to stay here for years gathering enough small-electronics to do the job... I also know that this planet won't exist for very much longer, we have a basic date and they don't have the technology to come close to making a planet rubble, so it was something external that did it, so all the wars in the world won't change their ultimate course in history." "No it won't," Grailik conceded, "but that destruction is still several decades if not centuries away and they are completely unaware of their doomed fate. What right do we have to deny them a peaceful existence for as long as that might last?" Sevant sighed as the lift came to a halt. "Computer, hold." he said before the doors could open. He put his hands behind his back and considered for a few moments. He took a few more moments to assemble his knowledge of Earth history. "If Fort Knox had been robbed during the Earth's Cold War, it would not have automatically been blamed on the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. It will take a bit of doing, but if we can leave a couple clues hanging about that places blame elsewhere, perhaps on a black market organization, then it will cause nothing more then a media sensation and a full-scale police investigation." He looked over, "It's a risk, all time travel is a risk. We still have time to investigate however; nothing will be done this second." "Why the Soviets where the United States biggest adversary during the time, they were not the only one. We will need to consider who to lay the blame on if any one. Another option would be to leave evidence to make it obvious that is was NOT another country at all. One of life's great mysteries. A great who-done-it. Regardless, what ever we do must be done with extreme care and foresight. We must consider the ramifications of our actions on the inhabitants of the planet." "I am doing that, Commander, or I never would have waited long enough to gather this much cultural data. We need to get people on-site to look around; none of us can make any kind of informed decision at this point." He looked up, "Computer, resume." The doors opened, "I am a student of history, Commander. I will give them all the time they have to their names, but I won't sacrifice my own crew either. It is a fine balance, one we are both walking." Grailik brow rose slightly. "I am aware of that Captain. However, there is a difference between studying history and living it. As First Officer it is my duty to make sure that all possible alternatives have been considered. I speak for the inhabitants of the planet because they have no one else to speak for them in this matter." Sevant nodded, "Granted." He stepped into the hallway, "Then, as Devils Advocate, see to it that every step is taken. In the mean time, we both have things to do in preparation. So, unless there is anything else?" He paused before Grailik, his hands still behind his back. "Not at this time," Grailik said, inclining his head slightly, "I will meet with Lt Munroe and go over her recommendations for the away team. I assume you will want to have Major Straton remain on board for the assassin hunt?" Grailik looked over at the body guards both he and Sevant had following them. "Straton, and Skylynx." Sevant replied with little thought. "Ideally, I would like all my high-ranking officers to stay on the ship for the hunt. Realistically, I can release Fredericks for planet-side duty. My only recommendation to your team would be experienced-crewman and officers all on whatever security detail you choose, people with enough years not to spook at the slightest suspicious look." Grailik nodded. "Shouldn't be a problem. We have a few experienced officers on board." Grailik then tapped his com-badge. "Commander Grailik to Lt. Munroe. Report to my office in 15 minutes." (Reply Munroe) "If there is nothing else, Spot" Grailik pointed toward his bodyguard, "and I will be about our business." Sevant nodded, "Keep me informed." He turned on his heel and headed out. ==================================== (USS Boudicca- Science Lab- Dr. Maddison Munroe- 2338) ==================================== Maddie rushed through the door of the labs to find them empty. which normally would not have been a surprise for the late hour. But she had expected to find , at least, the captain there. She had rushed down there and made her personnel choices on the way, to simply not see anyone. She sat down on a chair and pouted. What was the universe coming to? What should she do now? Then, as if in answer to her question a call ccame over the comm. =^=Commander Grailik to Lt. Munroe. It was all very perplexing. ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Science Labs, Lt jg Trevan West, 2342) ==================================== After working all day and most of the night, Trevan was extremely bleary eyed to say the least. West out." ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Engineering - ACEO Enaj - 2342) ==================================== After seeing the group of officers huddled together Saim had decided not to disturb them but to go back to engineering. As soon as she walked through the doors the comm beeped. "Trevan to Ensign Saim, I am off duty now. Please, make sure the cloak stays online, you will find instructions in your personal database. Anything else come get me. West out." "Sure thing" Saim checked all the readings for the cloak. They were starting to get a bit low but looked like they should hold out a bit longer as long as nothing too unexpected happened, but then again this was the Boudicca she was talking about. ==================================== (USS Boudicca- FO's office- Dr. Madison Munroe-2350) ==================================== Maddie stopped outside Grailik's office and straightened her uniform and hair. She let out a yawn, relaizing how late it was. She hoped to get back to sleep soon. Then, after steeling her will she reached out and hit the chime. ==================================== (USS Boudicca, FO's Office, FO, COmmander Grailik. 2350) ==================================== Grailik was sipping a fresh mug of coffee reading over the planetary data again when the door buzzer went off. ~Lt. Munroe, I assume.~ "Enter," Grailik said, looking up from his PADD as the Lt. walked in looking more than a little nervous. Grailik smiled and tried to put the Lt. at ease. "Please have a seat Lt," he said, motioning toward one of the chair in front of his desk, "Captain Sevant wanted me to go over your recommendations for the away team. You do have it finished right?" He looked at the PADD she was holding as he finished speaking. ==================================== (USS Boudicca- FO's office- Dr. Madison Munroe-2351) ==================================== Maddie jumped when she heard the FO's voice. "Enter," Grailik said. "Please have a seat Lt. Captain Sevant wanted me to go over your recommendations for the away team. You do have it finished right?" She returned the smile and sat down opposite him. In the past Maddie had only met the FO in passing. She really didn't know him. This was the first opportunity she had to actually study the man's features. He was handsome, if you like that kind of thing, that's for sure. His dark skin gave him a sort of glow that even she found appealing. But it wasn't just how he looked. He gave off a presence that really let you know he was in the room. It must be an El_aurian trait, because Maddie had noticed it in the other El-Aurian she knew. It was something to do with their age. It's hard to to have a definite presence when you're that long lived. Suddenly she realized that he was sitting there with his hand out-stretched, waiting for her report. "Oh...ummm... yes. Here it is," she said obviously. She fought the urge to roll her eyes at herself. ~Smooth Maddie, definitely smooth.~ She felt like a child that had been sent to the principal's office but didn't know why. Finally she looked up at Grailik and spoke. "My main concern was to make sure that everyone stayed safe, and yet our group remained inconspicuous. I didn't want to recommend too many security officers, but a few of the team I recommended are not well versed in self defense, myself included." She broke eye contact for a moment, suddenly very self-concsious that she might not be a good candidate for this team, even though she was the best cultural anthropoligist in the sector. "I, ummm, discussed my choices with Counselor Alizara and she didn't undersand the need for an engineer, but I think it would be essential to have one to help understand the current technology of their culture, and help use it if needed." She realized that she was babbling and made herself stop and wait for the FO's assessment. ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Engineering, Lt jg Trevan West, 2358) ==================================== Trevan had finally finished his replications, all 32 of them, and placed them in the replicator files to be produced by the industrial replicators. "West to Captain Sevant," he paused waiting for the reply, "I have finished all the modifications to our equipment for the mission. All they need now is to be replicated which I am going to do now. Also, this mineral metal we need, it's going to be a bit harder to get then we first thought." Trevan continued with the technical reasons then added, "We will need pattern enhancers, at least eight of them, around the metal and even at that it will take us a while to get it up to the ship. We barely have enough power to beam us down. This metal contains a molecular structure like nothing I have ever seen before and the transporters will be working overtime to compensate." Trevan took a moment to consider any other alternatives, "Sir, the only other option is to beam the metal into space near the ship and haul it in with shuttles. However I don't recommend that being so close to the singularity of that beast. Orders sir?" ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Ready Room - Capt Sevant - 2358) ==================================== =^=West to Captain Sevant=^= "Go ahead Chief," the Captain said. =^=I have finished all the modifications to our equipment for the mission. Pain, glee, pleasure, and more pain. John sits up straight in bed, cold sweat running down his torso, the feelings he had picked up were still fresh in his mind, still out there. Someone was being hurt by someone who took a great deal of pleasure in hurting them. John reached over to his uniform hanging nearby and touched the comm. unit. =/\=Fredericks to Grailik, Please respond immediately =/\=. (reply Grailik) =/\= Sir, someone has just been attacked. Stranton=/\= =/\= Fredericks out=/\= John laid back on the bed and relaxed suddenly as the attack quit as suddenly as it started. Just then Johns communicator beeped =/\= Ensign Fredericks to the bridge =/\= ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Lower Decks - The Shadow - 0020) ==================================== The Shadow savored the feel of the people around him. They were it's protection, salvation, a sweet blanket of animosity that would grant the agent time to finish its work. The brief battle with the Major earlier had given the Agent a good headache, but exposure to combat techniques had also given the Operative much-needed insight into attacking people. By design, the agent hadn't had much practical experience, to do so would have meant to break cover. The agent wasn't about to fully break cover yet, there was so much to do. Yet, things had to be slowed down a bit. If they weren't, then this ship would stand a chance at succeeding it her mission, and that just couldn't be. The agent briefly closed his eyes and reached out, past the pain from the last attempt at hurting someone. This time, it was going to be different. The shadow's consciousness floated through the ship, looking for the intended target... And then, there he was! With a sigh that approached ecstasy, the shadow grasped the mind of the scientist in question and gave it a good 'squeeze'. The shock his target felt was delicious, but the shadow couldn't stay. One thing it had learned, it didn't have to kill in order to disrupt activities. It left the scientist passed-out cold with shock and injury, right at the feet of many other scientists. It had taken seconds, and it was enough. The Shadow pulled back amidst the confusion, and into it's own body. From there it took a drink of the glass still held, and smiled large. ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Personal Quarters, CSO/2O Kyle Morie Rin, 0021) ==================================== "Kyle.......Kyle......why weren't you there to save me?.....KYLE!!!!!" Jumping from his bed and landing on the floor of his quarters Kyle realized it was only a dream. Dropping to his knees he began to cry the emotions he couldn't hold back even though he wanted to. "I'm sorry....I tried looking for you..." Picking himself up off the floor and taking a seat near-by he wiped the tears from he's face. His mother's caftan laid underneath him, pulling it out he wrapped himself up with it and grab his com badge. "Counselor i'm not sure if your sleeping or weaving, but if you get a chance could you stop by my quarters please it's important...to me at least." ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Personal Quarters, COUNS Dr. Domini Alizara, 0021) ==================================== =^=Major Straton to Lt. Alizara and Ensign Skylynx. We've had another assault in the science labs. I'm en route now,=^= Domini who had been breathing heavily against her headboard, trying to calm down from the flash of pure emotion that hit her nodded. "I'm on my way. I felt..something." She said, sounding unsure. "Fear." She ran out of her Quarters in the first clothing she threw on, her off-duty sapphire blue silk Betazoid caftan, and slippers. Her hair was down, in curls around her face. She ran the entire way to the science labs, and rushed in, seeing Eva. She saw the medical team working on trying to revive the scientist. She got out her tricorder and ran it over him. ::Elevated levels of the neurotoxins, consistant with the after-affects of a large adrenaline boost.:: She replied, studying the data. She turned as Skylynx barged in demanding to know what was going on. "Major, Counselor," he said, removing his mask. "Would either of you mind telling me what the hell happened here?" Ryko asked. "I'd like to know why you aren't in your Quarters resting like I ordered you to." Domini countered. "The last time I checked I was a superior officer. I thought I told you to let your assistant handle things." She frowned, looking through him. "Your blocks are yet again improperly seated, Mr. Skylynx." ::No wonder he's acting like a fool.:: Domini tried very hard not to say telepathically. "And as to what we are doing here, it appears that we have another attack. He was scared. Very very scared." She said. "I sensed it a couple of decks away, he must have had some latent telepathic ability. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the sensitives on board did." She frowned at the tricorder data. "We're loosing him!" One of the EMTs said. Domini pushed her way in. "20 ccs nifro-texin." She said, referring to the powerful stimulant. "And inject him with a blood cleaner. He has high levels of neuro toxins." She said, seeing his heart begin to beat fast again. "Stabilize his heart...It's had enough stress today.." Domini said, sweat beginning to pour down the back of her neck. The idiot Tac/SC was forgotten and it was jsut her and the patient. "Put a corticol stimulator on him, we need to keep his brain activity up!" Domini urged. She saw the monitor hooked up to him begin to stabilize, and that he was in a deep coma. She looked up at Eva, an unreadable expression on her face. "His body is stable, his mind is not. I can't do what I did with Rin again. And what if this assassin hits someone like the Captain ?" She sighed. She needed to conserve her resources. She was close to her breaking point. She'd been on a psychic high once in the last two months, she didn't need to operate on one a second time. "I'll need an anchor, Eva, you know that. And you can't hunt and be that anchor at the same time." She finished, leaning back against the wall. ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Personal Quarters, MCO, Major Eva Straton, 0021) ==================================== Eva was meditating lightly when she suddenly felt something amiss. She sat up straight in bed, her mind reaching out across the ship skipping over minds as she quickly tracked down what she had just felt. It had been quick. Terribly so, but she quickly tracked the attack, but it was gone before she got a firm fix on the perpetrator, but she got closer. Ever time it attacked she would draw closer to finding it, and when she did she would kill it with extreme prejudice. She rose from the floor and slapped her comm-badge, moving for the door. "Major Straton to Lt. Alizara and Ensign Skylynx. We've had another assault in the science labs. I'm en route now," She said as she exited her quarters and moving quickly toward the nearest turbo-lift. (Reply Domini, Skylynx) ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Bridge, TAC/SC Ensign Skylynx - 0021) ==================================== ~D*mn this is a boring shift,~ Ryko thought, as he ran a level 4 tactical diagnostic for the 4th time that evening. His eyes drooped a little, and he looked over at the ops station. Yalta, lucky Yalta, was sleeping in their quarters. Ryko felt bored, tired and altogether exasperated. True he had given himself the "graveyard shift", but he was finding himself asking why. Had he taken some mad hallucinogenic when he had outlined the shifts for the Tactical and Security staffs? ~Yeah, Probably,~ he answered himself with a quiet snigger. The panel beeped. For the 4th time the diagnostic finished, and for the 4th time, there was nothing. ~Why can't something happen?~ he found himself thinking. Just then his badge bleeped. =/\=Major Straton to Lt. Alizara and Ensign Skylynx. We've had another assault in the science labs. I'm en route now,=/\= came a message from Straton. Ryko's exhaustion was playing with his mind. Instantly he found himself thinking ~Great, it's the MCO from Hell.~ He slapped his badge. "This is Skylynx, I'm on my way with a security team. Ensign Fredericks to the bridge," Ryko finished, closing the channel and logging off the TAC console. He headed to the turbolift. "Security team alpha to science labs, precaution delta 1, I will rendevous with you there, Skylynx out." ==================================== (Boudicca-Turbo Lift-JohnFedericks-TAC/AST- 00:24) ==================================== John again reached out and tapped the communicator =/\= Fredericks here, on my way, be there in five =/\=. =/\= Computer, lights at 50% for 6 minutes and then disengage=/\= Hopping out of bed one again John stepped over to his small sink, splashed cold water on his face and put on his uniform. He jumped in as soon as the door was open wide enough for him to squeeze through and spoke loudly to the receiver in the lift =/\= BRIDGE=/\= ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Science Labs, TAC/SC Ensign Ryko Skylynx, 0026) ==================================== Ryko walked inside flanked by two security guards. He had standard combat armour on him, as did they. He wasn't taking any chances. A quick look around the room showed him that there was one scientist, unconscious. He ordered his team to check everywhere. Jefferies tubes, ventilation, backrooms, everything, then he went to greet the MCO and Counselor. "Major, Counselor," he said, removing his mask. "Would either of you mind telling me what the hell happened here?" Ryko asked. ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Science Labs, MCO, Major Straton, 0026) ==================================== Eva walked in to see a scientist out cold on the floor, a medical team already at work over him. She recognized the scientist on the floor as the one leading the effort on how to return to their own time. Her scowl deepened. She turned as Domini and Skylynx entered the room. ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Bridge, Lt jg Trevan West, 0100) ==================================== Trevan was just putting the finishing touches on some repairs concerning the cloaking device, his fingers flying over the controls as if he was playing a concerto. His foot however was tapping the floor endlessly in anticipation of the away mission. It's been on stand-by too long. Trevan turned around as he stood up and walked over to the command area, Captain Sevant raised his head in Trevan direction. "Sir," he said in a almost whisper, "may I please see you in private?" (reply sevant) "Sir, permission to speak freely?" "Thank you. In regards to the upcoming away mission. I know I don't have any authority on this but I felt I must express my view on the situation from an Engineer's perspective." he pleaded. Trevan sat on the chair at the desk, moving aside the display panel and folded his hands, "If we put this mission on hold any longer, the longer we wait the less of a chance we have at obtaining our goal of getting home." "Now I don't know about you, but I sure as hell don't want to remain here. Let's get this done. I want it done right, we are ready. Stop the delays and lets get moving." "With all due respect sir." ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Ready Room - Capt Sevant - 0102) ==================================== "Sir, permission to speak freely?" Sevant folded his arms behind him once the door shut behind him, and nodded. "Thank you. In regards to the upcoming away mission. I know I don't have any authority on this but I felt I must express my view on the situation from an Engineer's perspective." The Captain quirked an eyebrow, then gestured to one of the chairs as he walked around his desk. "Continue." As he sat, the Engineer moved his screen to the side. "If we put this mission on hold any longer, the longer we wait the less of a chance we have at obtaining our goal of getting home." "Now I don't know about you, but I sure as hell don't want to remain here. Let's get this done. I want it done right, we are ready. Stop the delays and lets get moving." Sevant frowned as he finished with, "With all due respect sir." "The 'delays', as they were, are necessary so we don't get caught Lieutenant." He paused, "I don't know about you, but I sure as hell don't want to be shot in the head for Espionage and theft while in the act of removing several tons of their currency." (reply: West, if desired) Sevant took a deep breath and his face melted back into typical Vulcan calm. He tapped his badge, "Sevant to Grailik, what's the current timetable on the away team?" ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Ready Room - Lt jg Trevan West- 0104) ==================================== Sevant frowned as Trevan finished with, "With all due respect sir." Sevant Continued, "The 'delays', as they were, are necessary so we don't get caught Lieutenant." He paused, "I don't know about you, but I sure as hell don't want to be shot in the head for Espionage and theft while in the act of removing several tons of their currency." Trevan didn't care, he just wanted to get a move on. "Well sir, if we do our jobs, that won't be a problem." Trevan could sense a confrontation. 'Damn Vulcans," he thought, "Well sir," he switched modes, "IF we take too long, then any delay will result in us having to obtain more 'currency' to reach escape velocity as you very well know. So, the sooner the better as they say." and with a slight smirk he realized he just scored a big point, thinking back to all the confrontations he's had with the Captain in years past. Although a slightly more hardened Sevant, never the less, still his old friend. "Caladryll," he paused letting the usage of the name sink in, "You know I am right, I don't have to explain multi-singularity and event horizon displacement ratios to you. You have already calculated them in your head, the longer the delay, the harder it will be to get back home. Trust me." ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Ready Room - Capt Sevant - 0106) ==================================== "Well sir, if we do our jobs, that won't be a problem." He paused, then said. "Well sir," he switched modes, "IF we take too long, then any delay will result in us having to obtain more 'currency' to reach escape velocity as you very well know. "Caladryll," he paused letting the usage of the name sink in, "You know I am right, I don't have to explain multi-singularity and event horizon displacement ratios to you. You have already calculated them in your head, the longer the delay, the harder it will be to get back home. Trust me." The Captain's jaw worked slightly, the only sign of emotion that he gave. He hadn't condoned familiarity from anyone within a professional setting in a very VERY long time. Not since... He tapped his fingertips together for a few seconds. "Mr. West," he finally said. "I will not accept an attempted personal attachment when you are trying to make a professional point. Keep that in mind." The Half-Vulcan paused. "In either case, time is of the essence, but we will waste even more time if we go down half prepared. In that, I know I'm right, nor am I the only one that thinks as much." (reply: West) Sevant took a deep breath and his face melted back into typical Vulcan calm. He tapped his badge, "Sevant to Grailik, what's the current timetable on the away team?" (reply: Grailik) "Very well." The connection broke, "I trust that will be sufficient?"
