There were ways to discern the truth about someone, by voice inflections or body language. Being in security, knowledge of such things could often be the difference between recognizing a potentially volatile situation or a person meaning to do harm. So far, Sanok could tell that Reville was sincere in his desire to serve and do right by his people. Reville said, "So far, our interrogations have discovered that it was actually a civilian who is responsible for the young girl's death. The unknown perpetrator had wrenched a weapon from a militiaman, causing it to fire accidentally. Unfortunately, as yet, we have been unable to identify the person responsible." Sanok did not like the tone in that, or that the colonel had used the word 'interrogate.' It could be thought of as a minor thing, but it seemed to confirm a suspicion Sanok had about the New Eden government. Though a good place to live, at least before the moon disaster, the New Eden leaders appeared to govern with an iron fist. This warranted further study. "At present, the Prime Director is dining with his family," said Reville, "but when he is done, he will talk with you, if you wish, if you have questions I cannot answer." "If I may," said Sanok. "Colonel Reville, would it be possible for me to go into the city and have a look at the main refugee camp?" Sanok looked at Shrekt. "With your permission, of course. I would like to insure that there will not be any difficulties, once we begin transporting the colonists to the freighters." (Reply Shrekt, Reville) (Posted by Bob) (New Eden, Red Mansion, CoSF Col. Troy Reville - 1720) "At present, the Prime Director is dining with his family," said Reville, "but when he is done, he will talk with you, if you wish, if you have questions I cannot answer." It was Ensign Sanok who replied with an unexpected request that had the Colonel's glass hovering almost but not quite, at his lips. "Colonel Reville, would it be possible for me to go into the city and have a look at the main refugee camp?" Sanok looked at Shrekt. "With your permission, of course. I would like to insure that there will not be any difficulties, once we begin transporting the colonists to the freighters." Now Reville was concerned and also slightly offended; concerned for the safety of the fleeter and offended that the man would feel he had to make sure there would be no difficulties. Nobody could be absolutely sure there'd be no further uprisings, that was the nature of the beast. In fact, Reville was certain that whoever was behind the unrest would most definitely cause more trouble, it was just a matter of when and where. He placed his glass firmly on the table. "I'm sorry Mister Sanok, I cannot allow you to do that unless you do so undercover. If the dissidents see that uniform they may well decide to abuse you to get their point across." (Reply Shrekt, Sanok) (Posted by Sal) (New Eden, Red Mansion, ATac Ensign sg Sanok, 1721) After requesting access to the refugee camps, Sanok carefully watched Reville's reaction. It was clear the colonel wasn't happy about it, though Sanok wasn't sure all the reasons why. Professional pride was certainly there, but was there something else? "I'm sorry, Mister Sanok. I cannot allow you to do that, unless you do so undercover. If the dissidents see that uniform, they may well decide to abuse you to get their point across." Interesting reasoning, thought Sanok. Colonel Reville, your concerns are understandable," said Sanok. "However, I must respectfully disagree with you. It is illogical for an enemy or political rival of Prime Director Osiris, to abuse a Starfleet officer to make their point. If the aim is to seize power, an assault on a Starfleet officer, would discredit them and end any chance of gaining that power." Sanok glanced at Lieutenant Shrekt, desiring her support. "Since you have been unable to discover the identities of those causing the violence," continued Sanok, "I believe my presence in the camp, would aid you in that endeavor. If there are people there with information, they may be afraid to speak with your people, fearing retributions. A Starfleet presence can change that. They would be more likely to talk, knowing the Starfleet presence would protect them." (Reply Shrekt, Reville) (Posted by Bob) (SS Wanderlust - Section 17 - ATac Ensign Ben Soma- 1725) Ben didn't like the way Sean was looking at him, it was quite possible that the Wanderlusts Master had figured out that he was not an engineer, but something else. Sean had left them and told the blue dwarf that he was responsible for himself and Lanista. The ACEO seemed right at home on the freighter and had even taken a shine to the little elf even when he kicked her in the shin and requested that he carry her. "Ok, Cloudwalker," he said, "You can pick me up now. My legs aren't what they used to be and quite short, if you haven't noticed. Don't worry, I'll tell you which way to go." Then to Soma, Screwhead added, "You wanna follow us, Prettyboy? Or take the lead?" Ben was not found of his new nickname, he didn't consider himself a prettyboy, on the contrary he considered his appearance to be quite average, which was irrelevant at the moment. This was going to be an interesting assignment. First it appeared that Lanista was going to attack the dwarf and now Soma himself would like to give him a spinning drop kick into the nearest bulkhead, but resisted the urge as Lanista said, "I'll carry you," Ben noticed the ACEO was even smiling at the little critter, some things change pretty quickly. Ben didn't want to offend the little fellow so he said, "If you must call me a name other then fleeter I would prefer being called Soma or Ben which ever you prefer. You can drop the nickname, I'm sure you find it amusing but I must admit that I find it insulting. Or if you insist on using nicknames call me Benny." Ben said to the little dwarf as Lanista picked him up and asked if he was comfortable. Ben again wondered what the ships master was hiding, the way he kept an eye on him suggested he was nervous about them entering other sections of the ship. Somehow Ben had to find a way to access the other areas of the ship. Maybe after inspecting the engines he could suggest inspecting the EPS conduits or whatever power distribution system this bucket of bolts relied on. He turned his attention back to Franklin and Lanista before it seemed like he was day dreaming. (reply Lanista, Franklin, any) (posted by Milo Young) (SS Wanderlust - Section 17 - WL Engineer Screwhead - 17:29) The large female bared her teeth, but in a good way. Franklin didn't feel intimidated. "I'll carry you," she said, when Prettyboy spoke up. "If you must call me a name other then fleeter I would prefer being called Soma or Ben which ever you prefer. You can drop the nickname, I'm sure you find it amusing but I must admit that I find it insulting. Or if you insist on using nicknames call me Benny." "Hmphphph" Franklin only managed to bring out as he suddenly got lifted up by his tool belt. "Comfortable, Mr. Rotator?" Franklin wriggled for a second to get in a more comfortable position then nearly cracked his neck when he tried to gaze up to the Klingon's face. "Screwhead, please, Cloudwalker. You heard Leprechaun, I'm only Franklin ... something. Nobody knows my last name. I'm not even sure if I have one. But everyone knows me as Screwhead. Not just on this ship but everywhere in the civie fleet. Nicknames are not to diminish people's worth," Franklin shifted his gaze to look at Ben. "Nicknames are a show that when you enter, the slate is wiped clean. What happened doesn't matter, only what you will do. I know you're not an engineer, Leprechaun knows. Coming under false pretences does not show respect. It's contempt. Like we are not good enough for you. Like we are not to be trusted. Not accepting our customs is showing contempt. I was wrong. Prettyboy is not a good name for you. You are Fleeterboy." Franklin sighed then switched with difficulty to look forward and pointed. "Come on. We have work to do. Go along this corridor until you reach a door at the left. Opposite will be a staircase down. We'll take that to get to the lower level. The engines are in the center of this ship, four decks down. Have either of you ever worked with ionic engines? Wonderful contraptions, can do warp 9.9 when flying at a stretch and you can keep the energy accumulators from exploding. Which they'll do after five hours flying at full throttle. But with the energy bussards in the state they are, we would be lucky to scrape warp 4. Insides been bombarded with too much ionic debris. So we need to replace the bussards. Problem is that nobody makes them anymore. Can you get me some new bussards? We'll need twenty five of them in all. Problem is the Neutronium lining. Can't get Neutronium anymore." (Reply Ben, Lanista, any) (Posted by Adrie Geuken) (SS Wanderlust - Section 17 - ATac Ensign Ben Soma- 17:30) "Hmphphph" Franklin only managed to bring out as he suddenly got lifted up by his toolbelt. "Comfortable, Mr. Rotator?" Ben didn't know why Lanista was concerned with the dwarf's level of comfort, he got picked up as he requested and whether it was comfortable or not he would have to deal with it. The dwarf wiggled a little in Lanista's arms before settling down, reminded Ben of a small kitten or pup trying to find a comfortable position on the floor. The dwarf then insisted that Lanista call him screwhead because no one knew his last name, including himself which Ben found quite curious. After the brief exchange with the ACEO the dwarf then turned to Ben and said, "Nicknames are a show that when you enter, the slate is wiped clean. You are Fleeterboy." Ben had figured his cover as an engineer had been blown so he decided to take a more direct approach with the dwarf Franklin. "Screwhead, I do not recall saying I was an engineer. I said I was an engineer's escort, if you or Mr. Leprechaun took for granted I was an engineer then the misunderstanding is your error. I do have some engineering background having grown up on a freighter owned by my parents." (reply Screwhead/Lanista iyw) Franklin sighed then switched with difficulty to look forward and pointed. "Come on. We have work to do. Go along this corridor until you reach a door at the left. Opposite will be a staircase down. We'll take that to get to the lower level. Problem is that nobody makes them anymore. Can you get me some new bussards? We'll need twenty five of them in all. Problem is the Neutronium lining. Can't get Neutronium anymore." "I have no previous experience with ionic drives myself," Ben said." I can only recall ever seeing one that I can remember. If you give us access to your library computers to study up on the subject it is possible I may be able to assist you, technical specifications and operating parameters would help us in the manufacture of new components. Maybe we can find a substitute for Neutronium, something that will hold for the duration of the trip until you can find a shipyard to overhaul your engines." "Ensign Lanista should be able to give you a more definitive solution." Ben said and figured he should use the nickname given to her by the dwarf. "Cloudwalker will be the one handling the more delicate procedures, I'm just here to perform the grunt work." (reply screwhead/Cloudwalker) (posted by Milo) (SS Wanderlust - Section 17 - ACEO Lanista (ENS SG) - 1731) "Screwhead, please, Cloudwalker," said the dwarf. The Wanderlust's Engineer went on, and Lanista responded, "Alright. Screwhead." There was some protest from Soma regarding "Prettyboy", which Lanista tried mightily to keep from chuckling at. She enjoyed very much Franklin's explanation of what nicknames were for aboard the Wanderlust, but she couldn't help but laugh at least a little when the blue engineer said to Soma, "You are Fleeterboy." She wondered if her shipmate would have a problem with this. Lanista considered mentioning an insectoid life-form on Erli'ghan III called a 'flutter-by' but she decided that would only add to Soma's consternation. Instead she offered, "That is a fair compromise. You did say you'd accept 'Fleeter.'" (Reply Soma) The dwarf was then to business, providing directions to the destination. When he came to "Go along this corridor until you reach a door at the left. Opposite will be a staircase down", Lani' sighed, suddenly homesick. The Chalche'yon, the ship on which she'd grown up, had the main choghvat, or boarding stairs, as well as many internal ngep'oSmey (stairwells). "Have either of you ever worked with ionic engines?" Franklin asked, and he elaborated on the system's features and benefits. The dwarf was right about WF 9.9. "The energy accumulators problem," Lanista said, "disappears if you use anodyne relays. If you've got the spare parts, I could make some for you. And that's without having to overhaul your Bussard collectors. Getting new ones would require time I believe we haven't got." Lanista looked to Soma. "Days only, right?" She asked him. (Reply Soma) "Problem is that nobody makes them anymore. Can you get me some new bussard? We'll need twenty-five of them in all. Problem is the neutronium lining. Can't get neutronium anymore," said Screwhead. "I think that would require more work than I've got time allotted. I have an idea about how to get neutronium, but I'm not exactly sure it's up to regs in the Fleet." Lanista turned her head toward Soma and mouthed the words "Talk to me privately later." (Reply Soma) (Replies Soma, Franklin) (Posted by Frank) (SS Wanderlust - Section 17 - ATac Ensign Ben Soma-1732) "That is a fair compromise. You did say you'd accept 'Fleeter.'" Lanista said. "Actually I didn't say I would accept fleeter as a nickname," Ben said." but if Mr. Rotator here insists what choice do I have." (reply Lanista/screwhead iyw) After that it was down to business, the blue dwarf explained the problems with their engines and Lanista discussed possible solutions. The time involved was a problem that could not be worked around in their limited schedule. Lanista looked to Soma. "Days only, right?" She asked him. Ben nodded his head and said," We only have a couple days to complete the necessary repairs to your engines. We cannot completely rebuild your engines in the time allotted but we should be able to make enough repairs in that time to ensure you can maintain warp 5." Screwhead mentioned the problem of acquiring Neutronium, Lanista mentioned she may be able to get some but it would not be Starfleet approved. Ben wondered where she would be able to obtain the Neutronium if it were even possible. Lanista turned her head toward Soma and mouthed the words "Talk to me privately later." Ben gave a slight nod and hoped he would get the opportunity to do just that and somehow contact either Lt. Shrekt or Captain Stakes. Somehow he had to find out what Sean was hiding aboard the Wanderlust and determine if it posed a threat to the convoy. (reply Lanista/Franklin) (posted by Milo) (SS Wanderlust - Corridor, Heading to Engineering - ACEO Lanista - 1733) Soma had seemed a bit puzzled by Lanista asking Screwhead about his comfort. Lani' wasn't sure who her comrade was more puzzled by, actually -- herself or the dwarf. When Fleeterboy said he had some engineering background, it was Lanista's turn to be somewhat puzzled. She knew he had mentioned growing up on a freighter before this. But it hadn't occurred to her before now that Soma had had any hands-on experience. "Well, that's almost certainly going to come in handy," Lanista said to Soma. (Reply Soma) Screwhead explained about the problems with the ionic drive and bussards. Then Soma confessed to having no experience with such systems. He went on to say, "If you give us access to your library computers to study up on the subject it is possible I may be able to assist you, technical specifications and operation parameters would help us in the manufacture of new components." "And maybe access to your comm relays," Lanista added. "Soma, here, can coordinate with the Mithrandir for anything we can't scrape together on the Wanderlust." "Maybe we can find a substitute for neutronium, something that will hold for the duration of the trip until you can find a shipyard to overhaul your engines," Soma said. "Ensign Lanista should be able to give you a more definitive solution. Cloudwalker will be the one handling the more delicate procedures, I'm just here to perform the grunt work." "If you consider being liaison between Wanderlust and Mithrandir grunt work," Lani' added. (Reply Fleeterboy/Screwhead) (Posted by Frank) (U.S.S. Mithrandir - Ready Room - Ensign (jg) Ava McGregor - 21:00) "Will you make it easy for me, Mister McGregor? I would be terribly interested in finding out how you managed to swap Starfleet records." The happy to be here feeling withered and died. The Captain was baiting her. It was true then, he obviously did know Lieutenant Takano and had taken lessons from the master himself. Knowing this did not stop the flash of pink run up her neck and blush her cheeks. It was a serious allegation the captain had attempted to unbalance her with. It stung but blushing aside Ava was not about to consciously show it. "Captain...please, if you have concerns about the validity of my records I would urge you to contact Lieutenant Takano himself. Or if you think you have evidence of such subterfuge on my part I will of course submit myself to a full investigation." It was on the last word for less than a tenth of a second that she eyeballed the captain, quick but utterly defiant. Ava went back to staring at the wall behind him, an interesting spot just above his left ear. (Reply Stakes) (Posted by Jodie) (U.S.S. Mithrandir - Ready Room - CO Captain Archibald Stakes - 21:03) "Captain...please, if you have concerns about the validity of my records I would urge you to contact Lieutenant Takano himself. Or if you think you have evidence of such subterfuge on my part I will of course submit myself to a full investigation." Archibald met her gaze and nearly nodded. "Firstly Ensign, if I had evidence, we wouldn't be talking here now, but in the brig. Secondly, you would be surprised by the number of people who left the Academy after engaging in some ... tweaking of programs or results. That, in itself, is not a problem. In fact, it shows original thought and an ability to think outside of the box. But all owned up immediately. That didn't happen in your case. Changing parameters or files and not owning up to it is not showing original thoughts. It's plain cheating. And Starfleet doesn't want cheaters. Now if I contact the Academy, it will be official and a mark would be placed in your file. Which would basically end all hopes of any career in Starfleet before it even started. It was only proper for me to give you a chance to own up before making things official. But I will contact the Academy, Ensign. However until I have confirmation of any wrongdoings, I must accept you as approved Cadet from the Academy. I will never allow an unconfirmed subterfuge or my personal misgivings to make a difference in the way I treat my staff. So, for the moment you are here to stay, Ensign. I suggest you to meet your departmental head, Doctor Lewis Nymes, have some supper in our Two-Port and rest up. Tomorrow I will expect you to start setting up triages on the different freighters. There are about six hundred doctors coming on board with the settlers but what they will need mostly is equipment. There are not enough places on the freighters for advanced medical equipment. Yet, I am sure that sooner or later some settlers will require biobeds, infection quarantine equipment and such. Our medical facilities will not be big enough so see what you can scrounge around on the freighters. You have two days to make it happen. But I'm sure you'll do just fine. Oh, and Mister McGregor? Until I have confirmation, what we just discussed will remain just between us. There is no need for others to know. Now, is there anything else that you would like to know?" (Reply Ava) (Posted by Adrie Geuken) (U.S.S. Mithrandir Sickbay - CMO Dr Lewis Nymes - 21:30) Nymes sighed, as he sat in quiet contemplation, reviewing the latest techno-babble on the LMH's most recent beta software. He was still unsure what the surprise that Commander Falkirk, the medical contact in fleet Intel, had alluded to; since that meeting he had seen his best friend succumb to an ingeniously evil cognitive control technique; been promoted; been forced to be a guinea pig for a holographic programme which served no useful purpose (as for as the trill could see). And to complete the topsy-turvy news cycle, apparently Bupers had allocated a new doctor to the vessel. ~As if one doctor wasn't one too many for this ship~ The staff list, even without the new doctor, was complete except for the ACMO position; there were 2 nurses, specialists in generalised care, and two technicians ready for any crash calls that were required. With the LMH providing redundancy, Nymes would be free to provide training to his junior, and to the rest of the crew in crisis management. With the current mission plan, Nymes was already thinking through the potential medical needs. The evacuation of a colony was almost certainly going to cause minor accidents, and this risk would increase given the haphazard deployment of the vessels helping them. The trill would need to contact each of the ships in turn, getting to know those who were prepared to act as medical officers from the colony population, or as ship's crew. With the Mithrandir's limited capacity, only the very sick, or grievously injured would be accepted for transport on the Starfleet vessel, with access to the medical equipment that far outshined that available on the transports. Firstly, though, the trill needed to get to know his staff. Tapping a control on his desk, he opened the file that was sitting on his computer screen, a memo detailing the transfer of new personnel. Activating the comm. Channel, Nymes reworded the phrase that had started his career, one that Admiral Gri'ann had memorably shocked the trill; Nymes' examination holo-program had involved letting the Holo-admiral die during triage. "Doctor McGregor, please report to Sickbay." (reply McGregor) Sitting back, with next to no information available on this officer, Nymes waited to see what his new colleague would bring to the department. Elith Rejal - 08:43) Elith awoke at 0800 on the dot, as he had done for many years now. He had studied the ship's deck plans, the personnel files of his fellow engineers and the current mission briefing the previous night, and was more or less ready for today. He had requested for some basic engineering tools in Main Engineering the previous night, and they were now attached to his belt, waiting to inevitably be used. He was walking to the turbolift nearest his quarters when his commbadge beeped. He pressed it. =/\=Stakes to Crewman Randell and Ensign Rejal. You are to meet up in the transporter room and transport over to the SS Hingis, to assess their engines and their ability to fly at warp 5 for extended periods of time. Once you have assessed their capability you are to lead an engineering team to assist with the repairs. You will have a maximum of two days for this.=/\= "Affirmative, sir. I will give you an update when our assessment is complete." Elith simply replied. ~He's not wasting time.~ He continued to the turbolift, and he was in the transporter room in a few minutes. He nodded to the transporter attendant, and waited for Randell to arrive. In a few more minutes, after a silence in the room which only the attendant found awkward, Randell arrived. Elith turned to face him. "Good morning, Crewman Randell. Are you ready to begin this assignment?" (Reply Randell, any) (Posted by Matt Kirk) (U.S.S. Mithrandir-Transporter Room- Crewman Morgan Randell -0845) Morgan entered the transporter room as requested by Captain Stakes. He was unsure of what was ahead of him and the new ACEO so he grabbed a variety of tools and a tricorder and tossed them into a tool kit and headed off. The new ACEO was a Cardassian and Morgan hadn't actually met him so he was not sure what he was like, he hadn't encountered many Cardassians in the past and those he had encountered he didn't like. He wanted to be polite to the new ACEO so when he was asked if he was ready Morgan decided to try and get to know him a little. "Good morning, Sir," Morgan began wanting to maintain proper protocol until he felt more comfortable with Rejal. It hadn't taken long for him to develop a rapport with Freeman and instead of calling him Sir he called him Chief, but enlisted personnel acted differently than officers. "I am prepared for the assignment. Seems we only have a short time to make the necessary repairs to the freighter. Should be a real test of our ability wouldn't you say?" (reply Rejal) (posted by Milo) (U.S.S. Mithrandir - Transporter Room - ACEO Ensign j.g. Elith Rejal - 0846) "Good morning, Sir, I am prepared for the assignment. Elith never really enjoyed working with another person on an assignment, they often got in his way. He realized early on that this would become a common occurrence in this new fleet, and therefore tried to change the way he worked with other people. He still didn't have to like it, though. He crossed his arms as he said, "Is there anything you would like to discuss before we begin?" (Reply Randell, room for more) "In any case, now would be a good time to transport over." He motioned towards the transporters, picked up his tool bag, and got on one himself. He nodded to the attendant, "Energize." (U.S.S. Mithrandir - Transporter Room - Crewman Morgan Randell- 0847) "Yes, it would appear so." Elith said He crossed his arms as he said, "Is there anything you would like to discuss before we begin?" Morgan wasn't really surprised by the question, in his experience Cardassians were very forward and rather blunt. It was possible the ACEO had picked up on his mood, so Morgan decided to be blunt and frank with Elith. This would clear the air between them, or make for a very interesting assignment. "As a matter of fact there is." Morgan began. "My past experience with Cardassians has been less then admirable. For the most part I find Cardassians rude and obnoxious. It may seem like a biased opinion on my part but I wanted to get that out of the way before be transport over to the freighter. Is this going to be a problem for us?" (reply Elith rfm) (U.S.S. It may seem like a biased opinion on my part but I wanted to get that out of the way before be transport over to the freighter. Is this going to be a problem for us?" Elith had to suppress a smile, Randell pretty much hit the nail on the head when it came to Cardassians. He had a feeling that this might not be so bad after all. Elith very much appreciated honesty when working with someone else, it made the job faster and easier. "I appreciate your bluntness. I agree that my race does have many qualities that most Federation races find undesirable, and vice versa. I'm afraid that I'm not exactly the exception of the rule, however I've tried to become more...hospitable with my enlisting in Starfleet. It is also in my interests to avoid making this assignment more difficult than it should be." (Reply Randell, iyw) (U.S.S. Mithrandir - Transporter Room - Crewman Morgan Randell- 0849) "I appreciate your bluntness. I agree that my race does have many qualities that most Federation races find undesirable, and vice versa. I'm afraid that I'm not exactly the exception of the rule, however I've tried to become more...hospitable with my enlisting in Starfleet. It is also in my interests to avoid making this assignment more difficult than it should be." Morgan considered the response for a second before stepping onto the transporter platform, it was not what he had expected to hear so he was glad that they had gotten that out of the way before they began working together. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all. "Glad to hear it." Morgan said. "Looks like we'll get along just fine." (S.S. Hingis - Transporter Room - ACEO Ensign j.g. Elith Rejal - 0850) The Hingis looked...well, like every other freighter Elith's ever seen. Far less elegant than a Starfleet ship and a few Cardassian ships, they were built around the design philosophy of getting the job done, not to look nice. While this made repair jobs easier in some respects, it also meant that one would have to deal with very fragile systems and uncooperative engineers showing some sort of protectiveness over their MacGyver-ish repairs. Elith looked over to Randell to make sure the crewman was still with him, then eyed the man standing in front of him. It was clear that he was probably the main engineer or equivalent of the ship, and he didn't exactly look welcoming. "You two must be from the Mithrandir. I'm Andrew Williams, the chief engineer of the Hingis. I know why you're here, and you don't need to be. Our ship runs just fine." He spoke with what sounded like a slight Martian accent. "As much as I would love to believe you, Captain Stakes ordered us to transport over here and inspect your engines ourselves. If you have a problem with it, take it up with the captain. We're just here to do a job." "I've run a diagnostic of the engines myself just yesterday, and there's no doubt in my mind that the Hingis can run just fine to the new colony, maybe even at Warp 7." "Wonderful. Now, please lead us to Main Engineering or get out of our way." (Reply Randell, iyw) After a short pause, Williams replied, "...Fine, I'll show you the engines. Now, would you care to introduce yourselves, or should I just call you Engineer #1 and #2?" "I am Ensign Elith Rejal, ACEO of the Mithrandir." Elith replied flatly. (Reply Randell) "Okay then. This way, gentlemen." Williams sarcastically said as he walked out of the room. (Reply Randell, any) (Posted by Matt Kirk) (S.S. Hingis - Transporter Room -Crewman Morgan Randell- 0851) The first thing that came to Morgan's mind as he rematerialized was what a mess, the freighter was nothing like a Starfleet vessel. The area didn't have that clean and sanitized feel that he was used to serving on federation starships. Even the air didn't seem right, like the air processors and reconditioners were on the blink. Morgan then noticed a man standing in front of him who didn't look very pleased at the arrival of the two Starfleet engineers. Now, please lead us to Main Engineering or get out of our way." Morgan appreciated the Cardassians bluntness at the moment but also thought he should review the articles for procedure when assigned to an away team. Elith could use a lecture in proper protocol when dealing with others, his diplomacy left a little to be desired. But seeing as how Morgan felt the same he didn't mention it. "We are here to assess your engines and determine their efficiency for ourselves. If necessary we have been ordered to do what is necessary to ensure that everything is in peak running order." Morgan said to Williams. After a short pause, Williams replied, "...Fine, I'll show you the engines. Now, would you care to introduce yourselves, or should I just call you Engineer #1 and #2?" "I am Ensign Elith Rejal, ACEO of the Mithrandir." Elith replied flatly. "Crewman Morgan Randell, engineering assistant." Morgan introduced himself politely hoping to break the tension that he felt rising, if things didn't improve soon this would be a rather difficult assignment. "Okay then. This way, gentlemen." Williams sarcastically said as he walked out of the room. Morgan turned to Elith and raised an eyebrow, hunched his shoulders slightly and followed Williams out of the transporter room. (reply Elith/Williams) (posted by Milo) (S.S. Hingis - Outside Transporter Room - ACEO Ensign j.g. Elith Rejal - 0852) Elith noticed Randell's expression at the end of the conversation, and smiled as he walked along with Randell. "It would appear," He looked at Randell, "that I'm still very Cardassian." He heard Williams muttering in front of them, and decided to ignore it. "Though, perhaps I'm going a little too far." (Reply Randell, rfm in the trip to Engineering) (Posted by Matt Kirk) (S.S. Hingis - Outside Transporter Room - Crewman Morgan Randell- 0853) "It would appear," He looked at Randell, "that I'm still very Cardassian." Williams was ahead of them mumbling something or other, maybe some profanity or something of that nature they ignored it as they continued to walk. Elith continued, "Though, perhaps I'm going a little too far." Morgan smiled and half turned to the ACEO and said," Maybe just a little, but maybe Williams had it comming to him. I won't tell if you don't." (reply Elith) Morgan continued walking in Williams wake, not wanting to catch up to the freighters engineer. When they arrived at the engineering section would be soon enough to have to deal with him. Just to acquire a little background information and to make some small talk between himself and Elith he asked, "Why did you join Starfleet, if you don't mind me asking?"
