Mysterious dead bodies and talking shipmates through claustrophobic attacks seem much more within my realm of abilities." Archibald raised an eyebrow. "Suicidal marine?" he asked, followed by: "Repair platform? That seems to have escaped my attention when I was going through your file. I will look it up." He nodded at Jynea. "I do not expect there too be any issues on this away-mission. Never the less for those who have not had a space walk before it might be helpful to have a quiet word with them afterwards." He gave a single nod to the morale officer and then turned his head to his right. "Status, Mister Olorin?" (Reply by Jynea, iyw, any) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, Ensign Jynea Kreung, 18:32) "Suicidal marine?" The Captain asked, followed by: "Repair platform? That seems to have escaped my attention when I was going through your file. I will look it up." Jynea wasn't quite sure she'd ever actually made an official report on the matter.. She knew Chuck'd heard about it, and so had probably T'Vhor when he had an irate Admiral screaming for her commission, but no one had ever demanded *she* put anything into the logs so she certainly hadn't. She didn't understand what the multi-pipped starched collar had been so upset about anyway. Marine didn't blow anyone or anything up, after all. And probably by the time he got out of corrective care he wouldn't even blame the Admiral for said Admiral's own stupidity. Probably. The Captain nodded her way not seeming to expect any sort of response. "I do not expect there too be any issues on this away-mission. Nevertheless for those who have not had a space walk before it might be helpful to have a quiet word with them afterwards." He gave another nod to her and then turned his head to his right. "Status, Mister Olorin?" Jynea wondered what the significance of all the nodding was. Was it acknowledgement, command, comment, important communication or was it just a nervous twitch? She'd thought *T'Vhor* had been fun to get a handle on. At least the Half-Betazoi, Half-Vulcan, all logic, Captain had had a sense of humour in comparison to the cranky captain of the Mithlander. She let the babble of the bridge bend around her, she wasn't particularly interested in the day to day, only the extreme that would require some sort of interference or input from her. ~…and Lord, may I never run into the Borg again.~ she prayed silently. (Reply any on the bridge) (posted by Lorna) (SS Brightly Follows, Observation Room, Lieutenant jg Sanok, 1842) Rejal said, "Ah, Mister Sanok, will you be joining us?" "Yes, I will be joining you," said Sanok. "I will lead. Mister Korn, you follow. Mister Rejal, take the rear." Sanok moved carefully down the steps to the second level, his phaser in one hand and his tricorder in the other. The second level had a central are, with rooms branching off from that main area. He stopped in the middle and making sure Korn and Rejal were covering him, he turned in a complete circle, scanning each area. "I am not detecting any life signs or immediate dangers," said Sanok, "though the waste system has malfunctioned. I recommend that you watch where you step." (Reply Rejal, Korn) (Posted by Bob) (SS Brightly Follows-Observation Room-Ensign jg.John Korn-1843) "Yes, I will be joining you," said Sanok. "I will lead. Mister Korn, you follow. Mister Rejal, take the rear." John just nodded in agreement and followed Sanok. He proceeded carefully with a phaser and tricorder in both hands. The second floor was the living quarters. It had a center area and that's where Sanok proceeded. John made a little scan of the area but didn't find anything much of use. "I am not detecting any life signs or immediate dangers," said Sanok, "though the waste system has malfunctioned. I recommend that you watch where you step." "That's the first time on this inspection that I'm happy to be wearing the Evac suit."John said jokingly "And shall we proceed to the engineering or inspect this floor more closely?" (Reply Sanok,Rejal.) (Posted by Edgar Alik) (Private Yacht SS Brightly Follows - Observation Room – a2O/OPS BJ Stone – 1844) “Maybe I’m jumping at shadows but…” BJ left the rest of his thoughts unsaid. "You are not jumping at shadows," said Sanok. "Since sensor equipment has shown to not function properly here, I recommend we be much more careful than we've been. It is unlikely, but there could be someone alive here, and they could mean us harm." BJ felt better knowing he was not the only one feeling extremely uneasy regarding the abnormalities they had found aboard the yacht. He followed Serranta onto the bridge and was about to call the Mithrandir when his commbadge came to life. =^=Status, Mr. Stone. You have five minutes remaining=^= “Copy Sir,” BJ said, as he collected his thoughts. He gave his report while mentally ticking off the pertinent items the captain would want. “We’ve run into something a little strange over here. We’ve found two bodies aboard the yacht. Our tricorders cannot scan the bodies. We’ve tested the tricorders on ourselves and they seem to work just fine. I’ve got Serranta on the Bridge with me while she looks over the second body. I’ve got Sanok, Rejal, and Korn checking out the other two decks. Their goal is to make it down to level three to access the computer logs in hopes we can find out what happened to this yacht. We’ll need another ten minutes or so.” BJ paused for a second to allow the captain to digest what he’d just said and then continued. “Serranta wants to beam the bodies over for a full bio check. Lt. Sanok is not fond of that idea. At this time I’d like to request a full scan of the yacht – right down to the nuts and bolts of this yacht. I can’t put my finger on anything but something feels wrong with this yacht. Sir, if you approve moving the bodies to the Mithrandir then I’d like to recommend we transport them directly to Bio Lab one on deck 2.” BJ waited for a response back while watching the doctor try to examine the body on the bridge without the benefit of information from her tricorder. He really wanted to comm. Lt. Sanok and find out how things were going but he refrained from doing so. If there was something to report then Sanok would do so. ~And he doesn’t need me playing twenty questions – I’m just antsy ‘cause this is my first time leading an Away Team~ (Reply Captain Stakes) (Posted by Mike Barrett) (SS Brightly Follows, Observation Room, aCEO Elith Rejal, 1845) "Yes, I will be joining you," said Sanok. "I will lead. Mister Korn, you follow. Mister Rejal, take the rear." Korn nodded while Elith said, "I don't see why not." ~Hm, rear duty, eh?~ Sanok led them down the staircase while Korn and Elith followed, Elith himself holding his phaser in a low-ready stance. He occasionally checked behind him and at his left and right to check for any dangers, of which there were none. Sanok stopped at the second deck exit, scanning the floor. ~No need for me to waste time with one, I'm sure Sanok wouldn't hold any information from us.~ "I am not detecting any life signs or immediate dangers," said Sanok, "though the waste system has malfunctioned. I recommend that you watch where you step." "That's the first time on this inspection that I'm happy to be wearing the Evac suit." John said jokingly. "Indeed." Elith replied, with a slight smile on his lips. "And shall we proceed to the engineering or inspect this floor more closely?" Korn continued. "I think we should head down to Engineering and check the logs as soon as possible, I get the feeling that the Captain is going to want us back soon. We can check this floor on the way back up. What do you think, Sanok? You are the lead, after all." (Reply Sanok, Korn) (Posted by Matt Kirk) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, CO, Captain Archibald Stakes, 18:46) Archibald flicked a switch on his armchair that activated the comm system, which had been preset for the away team. "Status, Mr. Stone. You have five minutes remaining." (Reply by BJ, any on the away team, any) (Posted by Adrie Geuken) (SS Brightly Follows, Deck 2, Lieutenant jg Sanok, 1846) Rejal said, "I think we should head down to Engineering and check the logs as soon as possible. I get the feeling that the captain is going to want us back soon. We can check this floor on the way back up. What do you think, Sanok? You are the lead, after all." "I agree," said Sanok. "Our time here is limited, so finding the logs is the priority now. The two of you proceed. I will follow shortly. I wish to conduct more scans on this deck." Rejal and Korn probably didn't like the idea of Sanok staying by himself, but he was certain he would be all right. He activated his tricorder and began scanning the nearest room. The place was a bedroom. The bed was large, with a canopy over the mattress. The material turned out to be the finest silk. There was a dresser that looked to be hand-crafted. The mirror was framed in gold. There were paintings on two walls, and a potted plant in one corner. All in all, your basic luxury suite. Aside from a backed up toilet, there was nothing unusual about the room. Sanok moved to the next room and found more of the same. Expensive furniture and decorations. The best money could buy. The only difference between the second room and the first, was a picture on a table. A man and a woman, probably married by the looks of the picture, but the man was the dead man found in the observation lounge. Searching through the desk, Sanok found the Federation ID card of the dead man. Placing it in a pocket, he stepped out into the central are. Wanting to search more rooms, he decided it was best to join Rejal and Korn on the third deck. He moved towards the steps and began descending to the bottom level. (Reply Rejal, Korn, any) (Posted by Bob) (SS Brightly Follows, Deck 2, aCEO Elith Rejal, 1847) "I agree," said Sanok. "Our time here is limited, so finding the logs is the priority now. The two of you proceed. I will follow shortly. I wish to conduct more scans on this deck." He left soon after that. "Well, out of everyone on the away team, I'd say Sanok is the most able to investigate on his own. Let's go." Elith said to Korn. (Reply Korn, room for more) ~According to the plans I memorized, Engineering should be at the end of a short hallway from the stairs.~ Elith thought as they descended to the third floor. Opening the door, they did indeed find a short hallway with doors to either side and a larger door at the end. The hallway itself wasn't extravagant like the rest of the ship but also wasn't featureless like a Starfleet ship. It looked completely normal. "Hm, and here I was expecting it to be covered in blood." Elith said sarcastically as they walked through the hallway, reaching the large doors at the end in moments. The sign next to the door said "Engineering", or at least that's what the tricorder said it meant. The doors opened without a problem, and they stepped into Engineering. The engineering room, like the preceding hallway, was slightly blander than the rest of the ship, but the extravagance of the ship was still obvious here. The consoles and banisters were latinum-rimmed, the carpets were a very expensive-looking scarlet, and it even appeared that the ship-owners tried to decorate the warp core itself, though at least that was decorated lightly. ~It makes me wonder how much this entire ship cost. Even more, how these people were able to pay for all this.~ "Okay, I'm going to try to get the main computer online, could you try to access the logs when I manage to get it up, Mr. Korn?" (Reply Korn) Elith moved to what appeared to be the master systems display console and looked the ship over. "Only basic life support online, including door automation." Elith muttered to himself. "Alright, I should be able to get the main computer back online from here. Stand by." After changing the console's language display to something he could understand, Elith typed a few commands in the console in front of him, and was pleased to see the main computer would be able to go online without any problems. "Bringing it online now." He did so, and a flood of messages appeared on the console in front of him as the computer booted up. "Hm...seems there was some tampering in the system, some of these messages are a little strange. You should be able to access the ship's logs now, Mr. Korn." (Reply Korn) Shortly after that, he received a message from his commbadge from BJ. =/\=Lt. Sanok, Rejal, and Mr. Korn, I have a general update. We’ll be sending the doctor and the two bodies to Bio-Lab 1 per Captain Stakes orders in about five minutes. I’m sending Amara over to get a head start on her examinations. As soon as we grab the logs the rest of us will return to the Mith and undergo a full decontamination process. Following the decon procedure there will be a debriefing in the conference room for all members of the Away Team. What’s the status on the ship logs? Over.=/\= "Rejal here. I've reactivated the ship's main computer and Mr. Korn is accessing the logs now. There may have been some tampering with the system, which I'm investigating now. Archibald raised his eyebrows and looked sideways at Olorin. But before he could say anything, the a2O continued telling them that the ACMO wanted to extract the bodies to perform tests on board the Mithrandir. He had reservations about it like Sanok. Not knowing what was the problem might end up exposing the crew of the Mithrandir to the same bugs that possibly killed the two. On the other hand, as a designated science vessel and more than that a relatively newly built science vessel, meant that the ship contained a bio-lab that was designed to cope with research of dangerous infections, and with the latest in security to prevent a break-out of whatever it was. The admission that 'something felt wrong' he disregarded. It was quite possible that the Lieutenant suffered from a slight suit-phobia or felt more 'endangered' by his first sortie in command than an actual event. It might be a good idea to have the Morale Officer listen in on the debriefing, he mused, especially since Archibald was not too happy about the delay as well as the logs not having been the first priority even though it was the first goal that he had mentioned to the a2O. He considered that Kreung might have some insights as well as have enough backbone to stop Archibald from being too demanding. It was the first mission, after all. "Agreed, Lieutenant. Allow us to prepare BIO-lab 1. Five minutes should be enough, we will inform you when we are ready. But when the team returns I want you to undergo full decontamination, just to make sure. But get me those logs, Lieutenant and be prepared for a debriefing following the decontamination in our conference room, all to attend. Stakes out." Archibald turned to his FO. "Mr Olorin, prepare Bio-lab 1, complete seal and all forcefields to be erected. Mr. Dillinger," he then addresses the replacement security officer. "Full sensor sweep on the vessel. Pass the results onto Mister Stone. Mister Kreung, you are to attend the debriefing, I suggest you stick around." John answered and followed Rejal to the third floor As they moved threw the hallway which was kinda weird if you take a look at the other ship parts looked pretty normal no decorations no anything. "Hm, and here I was expecting it to be covered in blood." The Cardassian said jokingly and John smiled. At the end of the hallway they found the doors to the engineering which opened without a problem. The engineering itself looked like most of the ship decorated, and all that even the warp core was decorated even if it was lightly decorated. "Okay, I'm going to try to get the main computer online, could you try to access the logs when I manage to get it up, Mr. Korn?" Elith said. "Got it." Korn replied as he moved to the closest of the consoles. Elith muttered something to himself and then said John to standby. Elith with success brought the main computer online. But get me those logs, Lieutenant and be prepared for a debriefing following the decontamination in our conference room, all to attend. Stakes out.=^= BJ turned to look at Amara. Being close to each other she had heard the entire conversation between BJ and Captain Stakes. “Well Dr., we have about five minutes to prep the bodies for transport to the Bio Lab. Since you are on the scene you should beam over with the bodies to start your investigations. I’ll stay with you until you beam over." BJ paused for a moment as he looked over at the power readings that were showing from the primary display on the bridge. When he had entered the bridge the reading was at 13 percent and it had now dropped to 12 percent. BJ started to check the status of the yacht's reserve power and then realized the tiny ship was on reserve power. ~That's not good~ He thought to himself. Continuing where he had left off BJ said, "Let me update Lt. Sanok on what’s going on and then, if you need an extra pair of hands for something, let me know.” (Reply Amara) BJ tapped his comm badge for an open channel to the rest of the Away Team. “Lt. (Reply by any) (Posted by Mike Barrett) (SS Brightly Follows, Deck 3, Lieutenant jg Sanok. 1851) While on the third deck moving towards engineering, Sanok received the comm message from Stone about Stakes' decision to bring the dead bodies onto the biolab. If it was possible for a Vulcan to frown, Sanok was doing just that. Proper precautions would be taken, of course, and it was extremely likely that nothing bad would happen. However, something about this situation just wasn't normal. If he still acted on his emotions, Sanok would have had a bad feeling about it. Hearing the voices of his shipmates, Sanok made it to engineering and waited for the logs to be retrieved. The sooner they finished with this ship and continued on their way, the better for all concerned. (Reply any) (Posted by Bob) (Private Yacht SS Brightly Follows - Bridge - ACMO Serranta - 1851) Kyah had been busy trying to check over the body without any technological help, and not really listening to the conversation happening between Stone and the Captain. She was also distracted by an overwhelming urge to scratch her head, which was impossible given it was inside the helmet. At least keeping her hands busy doing other things was stopping her from ripping the suit and helmet off. ~the sooner I can get this thing off the better, I'm sure my oxygen isn't working properly~ Having finished as much of an exam as she could, Kyah stood and listened to the tail end of what the Captain was telling Stone. =^=Agreed, Lieutenant. Stakes out.=^= ~oh great, a debriefing, any chance to make myself look stupider than I have already~ She realised Stone was looking in her direction, and raised an eyebrow to indicate she was listening. “Well Dr., we have about five minutes to prep the bodies for transport to the Bio Lab. Since you are on the scene you should beam over with the bodies to start your investigations. I’ll stay with you until you beam over. Let me update Lt. Sanok on what’s going on and then, if you need an extra pair of hands for something, let me know.” Nodding, Kyah turned back to the body. ~an extra pair of hands for what? Does he think we're going to carry them back or something?~ Even though she had already done a check around the body, she made doubly sure she wasn't missing anything which might provide a vital clue later on. As Stone informed the rest of the Away team what was happening, Kyah stepped back through into the Observation Room, and double checked the first body. Apart from the wine glass, which she had taken a sample of anyway, there didn't appear to be anything else that would be helpful in any diagnosis. She returned to Stone's side as he finished his conversation. "Following the decon procedure there will be a debriefing in the conference room for all members of the Away Team. What’s the status on the ship logs? Over.” Kyah was slightly taken back at the way Stone looked straight at her when he stressed the word "all". ~do they all think I'm an idiot? ~ She felt a mixture of emotions. Considering it was her first away mission, and she had hadn't been on the ship very long, Kyah had thought she was doing quite well. However, now she was beginning to doubt herself. First it had been the reactions of Sanok to her suggestions of taking the bodies back, and now it was Stone. ~obviously they've either been experts since they first began, or they've forgotten what it was like to be a newbie on your first away team~ She could feel her throat constricting, and realised if she wasn't careful she would start crying and really make a fool of herself. "Sir, we're all set to go if you'd like to inform the transporter room." She told Stone in a strangled voice, and then turned back to face the nearest body, gritting her teeth. (reply any) (posted by Wendy) (Private Yacht SS Brightly Follows - Bridge – a2O/OPS BJ Stone - 1852) "Sir, we're all set to go if you'd like to inform the transporter room,” said the Assistant Medical Officer, after moving from the body she had been examining back to his side. She turned away from him in a somewhat jerky fashion as she spoke. BJ cocked his head as he heard something in Amara’s voice that sounded a lot like someone choking back their emotions. “Hey, look at me.” BJ ordered as he grabbed her by a shoulder and turned her to face him. BJ peered into her eyes. There was something in her eyes that made BJ think she might be struggling with something… ~Maybe a problem being in the suit?~ he asked himself. BJ had never had a problem with suits. Growing up as a Free Trader it was just something that everyone used when they had to; no big deal. But BJ had seen a fellow cadet (~what had his name been? Stephen – yes – that was the guy…~) have a fit in a suit once, when they’d been in a class exercise back on Earth. The dufuss had been trying to take off his flipping helmet while on a spacewalk exercise. Stephen had been babbling about needing “fresh air” while grabbing at the latches of his helmet. Having the misfortune to be beside Stephen when he started to spaz, BJ remembered holding down his arms while the LT in charge had quickly ordered them transported back inside. BJ had been disgusted at the babbling cadet, his eyes big and bulging, and his face a pasty-white with rivulets of perspiration running down his face. BJ had felt nothing but contempt over the whole scene as a couple of medics had rushed in to provide assistance to the distressed cadet. And later the LT had complemented BJ on his quick reactions in helping to save a fellow cadet’s life. BJ pulled back from that memory. It had happened a long time ago and since then, along with experience had come a new skill set called compassion. Although no one else had seemed to notice at the time, BJ now knew he had handled that situation poorly in regards to his feelings and ability to provide support to a fellow classmate. And this crewman was not Stephen and she was not wigging out - but she did seem to be having some distress. BJ’s eyes softened as he looked at her. “Sorry Doc, - there was just something in your voice… I just needed to make sure you were doing ok in there – some folks have a little bit of a rough time in these suits…Are you doing ok?” (reply Amara) (posted by Mike Barrett) (USS Mithrandir, Bio-lab 1, LMH, 18:52) The hologram appeared out of nowhere. He twirled his stick as he ran through the information that the computer had downloaded in his matrix. "Oh, goodie! Gorde'an stiff ones. Well, at least they won't complain," he said with a shake of his head. "Here I am, the best medical entity this side of the Galaxy with several masters in immunologie and specialisations in almost all infectious diseases so what is this god's gift to mankind going to do? Download them to the Mithrandir, no need to rush the decryption now and make mistakes. I want to check the security system to see if there are any clues, after that we should join back up with the others. Do you agree?" Elith also directed his query at Sanok, whom he had noticed enter earlier. (Reply Korn, Sanok) Elith moved to a new console on the MSD, this time keying into the security system. He ran a quick diagnostic, and was mildly surprised to see that the security system did catch a few processes that it flagged as suspicious. Looking at those processes, he found that they did try to tamper a few of the logs; it appeared that while the system was bypassed and the logs changed by other processes, the crew forgot to erase the security system's logs. "Okay, I've got something here. The security system detected a few processes trying to tamper with the logs and denied them access. The system's logs recorded those processes, and thankfully weren't deleted. I'm sending them to the Mithrandir, they should help with the decryption. "Well people, let's be about it. Decon and then debriefing," Bj said to the rest of the Away Team with a somewhat lopsided smile. Decon was always a pain. He always got a small case of the itchies after a decon process. It wasn't that there was actually anything on him - it was just the thought that there might have been something on or in him that gave him the willies. Wishing he could scratch his head BJ said "Please assume positions for returning to the Mith." Then after everyone has assumed their positions he tapped his commbadge and said "BJ to Transporter room, four to beam over for Decon." A moment later they were gone. (Reply iyw but none needed) (Posted by Mike Barrett) (SS Brightly Follows - Observation Room - aCEO Elith Rejal - 1906) Elith, Korn, and Sanok re-entered the Observation Room right as the Doctor and the two bodies were transported back. ~Stone referred to her as "Amara". I suppose that's her first name, or else he would have attached her rank in front of it. At least, that's what I'd do.~ Elith thought as he said to Stone, "Hello again, Mr. Stone." "Well people, let's be about it. Decon and then debriefing," BJ said to the rest of the Away Team with a somewhat lopsided smile. "Indeed." Elith said while thinking, ~Decon's always a fun experience. By fun, I mean 'boring'. But, I understand why they need to do it, can't be contaminating the rest of the ship, now can we?~ Elith thought sarcastically. ~Well, I hope the debriefing will be more interesting. I don't see why it wouldn't be.~ He almost didn't catch BJ's next sentence. "Please assume positions for returning to the Mith." "Right, yeah." Elith said to himself as he stood diagonally back to BJ's left, the same position he beamed aboard in. It didn't take long for the rest of the team to assume their positions. "BJ to Transporter room, four to beam over for Decon." ~And here we go.~ Elith thought as the familiar blue lights surrounded him. (Reply any on away team) (Posted by Matt Kirk)
