"You have the better of me. I don't know who you are", Saim smiled. How about we get to know each other better in ten forward. Its ages since I've had a break." Domini smiled at the young woman and replied, "I would greatly enjoy that. My name is Domini Alizara, the new Counsellor." She held out her arm to him, so that he could escort her. "If you would be so kind, Sir?" She asked, smiling. Saim held out her hand towards the door and proceed to 10 foreward. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.06.30 (USS Boudicca - Engineering - COUNS - Dr. Domini Alizara - 0943) Saim turned around to see a woman. Domini nodded. "Coffee, please. How about we talk over there?" She pointed to where Dr. Rin was sitting staring at the stars. "That is Dr. Kyle Rin, the ACSO. He just came aboard yesterday." Domini walked over with Saim. "Dr. Kyle Rin, may I introduce Ensign Saim Enaj. Saim works in engineering and is the AEO. Saim, I believe I mentioned that Dr. Rin is a scientist." Domini smiled as she motioned for them to be seated. "Dr. Rin, tell me, why are you sitting out here, staring at the stars?" Domini asked. "Nice to meet you Saim, nice to see you again Domini." Kyle replied slowly and continued. "I lost my parents to Romulans on slave camp 476, i tried to save them but wasn't fast enough. The stars...help take that edge off so does this." pointing to his father's diary resting on the table. "So what made the two of you decide to post to the Boudicca?" Domini asked, encouraging conversation. After closing his father's diary Kyle anwsered slowly. "Nothing much left for me back home." pausing for a moment he fought back tears and continued." Saim answered "I'm just out of Starfleet. I've always wanted to be in Starfleet and this is just a dream come true for me even though I miss my two brothers." "What brought you here Counsellor?" "Me? Someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I was on Earth, teaching at the Academy, and was tired of it. I have the usual dose of wander-lust for the stars that is required for a starfleet officer. Being planet-bound may be a nice vacation, but it's not my chosen place to live." Kyle looked back at the stars as Domini continued listening with a careful ear. "Neither of you were on board for the nanite fiasco, were you?" She asked. "Have you had a chance to meet any of the other senior officers?" Saim shook her head. "I was here during the nanite invasion. Obviously I have to make a bigger impact." Saim smiled at Domini. "No I haven't had much of a chance to meet anyone yet what wiht the state of the ship there is still a lot of engineering work to do. I have met Rolnn but he was too busy with the fight." "I met Kestra Troi on my way here we shared my shuttlecraft from the academy to arive onboard." Kyle replied slowly as he watch the stars began to move. Domini's communicator bleeped, saying that there would be a briefing in the observation lounge at 1000. She heard echoes of the other two's communicators. "That means us." She said with a smile. "We should hurry, Sevant is not the type to take well to tardiness." She said with a smile, setting her almost-empty cup of coffee down on the table and rising, beckoning the two to come with her. "Assistants are senior officers too, you know. Especially if there isn't a department head yet." Domini grinned and then entered the turbolift, which was conveniently waiting there for her. "I expect that this meeting will be both very illuminating for you two, and very very interesting. If I don't miss my guess." She said as they arrived on the deck where the observation lounge was. "Captain Sevant is going to explain the real state of the Federation and Starfleet...and I can assure you that it isn't anything like what you were taught in the Academy." They arrived at the doors a few minutes before the start of the meeting. "Saim, Rin, this is Lt. Yalta Schafio, our Ops officer. And Saim this is Lt. Cmdr Kestra Troi, our CMO. Yalta, Kestra, this is Dr. Kyle Rin, one of the scientists and Ensign Saim Enaj, an Engineering Officer." Domini finished her introductions, then sat down next to Kestra. "Pleased to meet you," Saim held out her hand to Kestra and Yalta and then took a seat next to Kyle. Kyle took an empty seat next to Yalta and listened as Domini began to speak. "I expect that this meeting will be both very illuminating for you two, and very very interesting. If I don't miss my guess." She said as they arrived on the deck where the observation lounge was. She asked. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.06.30 (USS Boudicca - Battle bridge - Sevant - 1730) "The shuttles are ready and outside. The main shuttle bay is filling in with the unnecessary crew members, the same for Ten Forward and the battle bridge. In a few minutes we will be ready to radiate." "Very well," Sevant said, hands folded as he looked at the screen. "They are in position and scanning. The scans revealed that there's a small hole over the bridge, around 1 inch." Sevant nodded at that, but it was a problem they would have to take care of once the nanite issue had been taken care of. "Proceed." "Understood Captain, radiating now, a ten second burst... now." The Vulcan remained silent through the countdown, then turned in his chair to look at her while she scanned the ship. He didn't bother her, he knew he would know when she did. Eventually, she looked up. "The Shuttles are covering the hall and scanning inside and outside the ship. At every single detection of ninites outside, the shuttle program zap them and there is a few. Internal sensors detects no more ninites." "Perform a full scan, inside and out, and confirm that assessment." he ordered, as he turned in his chair. He flipped his chair monitor around, and keyed it to the internal sensors as they scanned the ship fully. Ten minutes later, Ops said, "Captain, the ship is clean." She turn and smile. "There's no more ninites on board." Sevant took that with apalm. "Very well," he said as he stood. "Send repair teams to all damaged locations for repair." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.06.30 (USS Boudicca - Battle bridge - OPS, Lt Yalta Schafio - 1730) Yalta had to take the long road, it seem that those little buggers manage to kill the controls of one of the turbolifts. With her padd, she was sending the cleaning crews all around where it was needed. She was also receive the numbers of people in the safe areas of the ship. She finally arrived on the battle bridge, the Captain gave her a side glance. "The shuttles are ready and outside. The main shuttle bay is filling in with the unnecessary crew members, the same for Ten Forward and the battle bridge. In a few minutes we will be ready to radiate." (Reply from Sevant) "They are in position and scanning. The scans revealed that there's a small hole over the bridge, around 1 inch." It scared a little Yalta. (Reply from Sevant) "Understood Captain, radiating now, a ten second burst... now." Suddenly, there was complete silence on the bridge, everyone counting silently the ten seconds. When the burst was over, came the clean up, at the same time she was receiving information from the shuttles. It took 5 minutes for them cover the ship and Sevant was looking at her, waiting for info, she felt like she needed to tell him something will working the console. "The Shuttles are covering the hall and scaning inside and outside the ship. At every single detection of ninites outside, the shuttle program zap them and there is a few. Internal sensors detects no more ninites." (Reply from Sevant) 10 minutes later, after having done twice the hull of the ship. "Captain, the ship is clean." She turn and smile. "There's no more ninites on board." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.06.30 (Starbase Geneva, Transporter Room- ASC Ensign Ryko Skylynx- 1910) Ryko stepped into the transporter room. He was greeted by the transporter operator. "Just getting ready for you now, ensign. Go ahead." Ryko stepped onto the pad and made himself ready. "Geneva to Boudicca," the lieutenant replied. (Reply Sevant) "Ensign Ryko Skylynx is ready for transport." (Reply sevant, OPS (if desired)) "Good luck, ensign," the lieutenant said to Ryko. "Energise," Ryko said, and the next thing he knew, he was on board the Boudicca. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.06.30 (USS Boudicca, Transporter Room 1- ASC Ensign Ryko Skylynx- 1915) Ryko looked around. The place looked like it had been in a war. Another ensign moved hurriedly to meet him. Greetings, ensign. I'm John Munro.I'll take you to the captain." Ryko looked around fleetingly. "Someone have a firefight in here?" he asked. "The captain will deal with any questions you may have ensign. Please, we must hurry." Seeing no alternative, Ryko let himself be led to a turbolift, whereupon he was ferried to the battle bridge. Why, Ryko didn't know. "Wait here," the ensign said as he left Ryko outside the battle bridge's ready room. He entered, and emerged a few moments later. "The captain will see you now," Munro replied. He left ryko alone. Ryko cautiously entered, and presented himself to Sevant. "Ensign Ryko Skylynx reporting for duty, sir," Ryko said. And now the real journey began. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.06.30 (USS Boudicca - Battle Bridge, Ready Room - Sevant & Skylynx - 1920) "Ensign Ryko Skylynx reporting for duty, sir," Sevant looked over the new crewman, then looked at his monitor. "Assistant Tactical and Security Chief," he looked up. "Welcome aboard." "Thank you sir," Ryko added. He shifted as an itch briefly irritated his left wrist. "I'm eager to get started, sir. Is there anything I should know" Sevant leaned back in his chair, then gestured to the seat before his desk. "We just finished a nanite crisis, Ensign. With our Fleet Commanders current political activities, we are in something of a tight situation. This is a Ship of War, and it is to battle we are going. Do you have any problems with this?" "If you'll pardon the language, I've been waiting my whole d*mn life to kick some ass sir." Ryko replied. A smirk crawled onto his face then disappeared almost immediately as he straightened up. Sevant quirked his head at that, then nodded. He would watch this one for a while, just to make sure he wasn't gung-ho to get them in trouble. "Very well," he finally said. "Get in touch with the head of Security, get an update on the situation and on our security procedures, he will also give you your security clearances." He folded his hands together, then said "Your first shift is up to him, I won't lie when I say we need all the help we can get and you might be placed on active duty immediately." "With pleasure sir," Ryko replied. He saluted. "I'm glad to be on the team." Sevant nodded, "Very well Ensign, Dismissed." Ryko headed out of the ready room and shot a glance at the battle bridge's tactical station as he headed toward the turbolift. He smiled. The waiting was over. At last, he had a ship. At last, "the game" had begun. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.06.30 (USS Boudicca – Mess hall – TAC/SC & ATAC/SC – Lt. William Bush & Ensign Ryko Skylynx – 19:40) Ryko sat at a small table, reviewing the contents of his Journal and editing it, while finishing his freshly replicated rations. The Replicator systems were still only at 50 %, so the rations were the only food for now He looked over at the Mess Hall's doors to see Lt Bush enter the Hall. He was clearly looking around. William moved into the mess hall he had herd that his new assistant had gone to the mess hall. William had been in his quarters organising files for the new assistant. He had been informed about his arrival and also his location. As he entered a young ensign came forward to speak to him. "What can I do for you ensign?" "I'm Ensign Skylynx, sir. I'll be your new Assistant." Ryko offered his hand in greeting. William accepted the Ensign's hand, he had been expecting him but not known what he looked like until now. "A Pleasure ensign, may I join you?" "Of course, sir." Ryko gestured towards an empty chair and seated himself. He closed his journal and laid it neatly on the side of the table. "Thank you Ensign, so tell me something about yourself before we get down to work" Ryko cleared his thought. He thought for a moment, as there were quite a few notable achievements in his life. "Well," he began as he coughed lightly. "I was born and raised on Earth, in North Carolina. My father was, and is, an admiral in the federation's Temporal Research facility, and it was through him that I became interested in Starfleet. I've also got a fascination for flying, and I attended Antares III's pilot training academy shortly before I started the academy. Since then I've devoted my life to making sure I've got a good career, and I've been working hard for a posting on a ship," Ryko finished. He took a sip from his synthehol. "Admirable Ensign, very admirable so I can expect good things from you?" "I hope so sir. I think Captain Sevant considers me to be something of a "wild card", so to speak, but I hope I can serve you and the Boudicca well." William smiled and waved for a waiter, ordering a coffee William turned back to his assistant. "Well Ensign I shall tell you now, I judge people by their actions not by hearsay therefore I take you with no preconceptions," Ryko nodded, fully understanding what Bush had said. For a fleeting moment he reminded him of his father. Ryko shook the image off and looked at the Lieutenant as his coffee arrived. "Actions speak louder than words, sir. Those are the very words I live by." "Good we are off the same mind then. Right Ensign im going to be demanding allot from you, you’re my soul assistant so you will be lent upon. Are you ready?" "I'm ready," he said. He had been waiting for this day since he was 8 years old. William lent back in his seat and smiled. The new assistant was egar and reminded him of his earlier self so eager to go do his bit for king and country. "Right, what I had in mind was to discuss what I have planned for you and what positions you will be doing and then you can ask anything you want. Before we begin do you have any questions you want to ask me?" Ryko relaxed slightly. "Actually, yes. Will I need any extra training to use the Holographic Tactical Interface?" "Right Ensign im not the man for that but I will put you in touch with the best expert on the ship. Im still getting used to it myself," Will stated smiling "Thanks. I was just curious, I've never worked with that technology before," Ryko added. "Other than that, I have no worries." "Right, what I was going to do was a rotating shifts on the Bridge station unless there is a emergency where I would be called to the bridge. Any situation where I would not be at the bridge you would be," William cleared his throat. " In your time your not on the bridge you will be in the security office or on patrol. Does that sound ok to you?" "Sounds fine," Ryko said. "Will I remain on the bridge during firefights, or do I surrender control to you?" "Primarily yes because im the Chief. But what im going to look into with the Captains permission is to create a secondary tactical consol to monitor other systems and to assist in tracking," Ryko was slightly down spirited at not being on the bridge during combat situations, but he was glad he was able to help anyway. William had been watching the Ensign's emotions carefully. He saw he had gone down a little; he was defiantly an earlier version of him. "Right, how about this Ensign. You need to be trained on the new system and we are supposed to have a bridge guard in times of battle. So in battle situations once I have assumed tactical you can assume bridge detail and coordinate internal defense. This way you can watch the progress and provide protection. What do you think?" Ryko lightened up. "That's perfect sir," Ryko said, remembering his passion for firearms. Ryko finished his synthehol and called a waiter over to order a coffee. The synthehol was slightly dull and he needed to stay aware, considering he had been up since 0800. "Right Ensign, in preparation I want you to read through the Boudicca defense systems and offensive systems. I want a proposal by 22:00 on how to improve the both of them. Also I want a plan to repel a boarding action," Ryko was already noting his tasks down in the rear of his journal. He was excited, but he kept himself controlled. "Aye sir." Ryko finished noting and once again closed his journal. He took a sip from his coffee. "Oh and the preparations are to be in preparation for boarding by Starfleet personnel. I trust you have been briefed about the war?" Ryko thought for a moment, and remembered his meeting with Captain Sevant. "Yes, I have been partially briefed. I know we will probably be facing other federation ships, and that we are in a sort of Civil War." "Good Ensign im glad you have been informed. So as you can understand im gear to ensure that if we are boarded we have new plans to repel them and also I want the systems improved," "We all ready pack a punch but I want to wallop any one that comes near us. I too will be designing ideas and what we will do is to bring them together and run drills in the holodeck. Plus gives you a chance to meet the staff," Ryko was glad he wasn't the only person working on the project, and was very happy that he was playing an important part of the crew. "I'll get started on it right away, sir," Ryko replied as he took another sip from his mug "Very good Ensign, im due on the Bridge so please come to me with the files as soon as you are ready no later than 22:00 though," William stated standing. "Yes sir," Ryko said, picking up his journal and standing. "It was a pleasure to meet you, sir, and now, if you will excuse me, I am eager to begin my tasks." “Of course ensign Snap to it,” William stated. Ryko made his excuses, and left the Mess Hall. He had work to do. William walked along side the ensign until he reached the turbolift Entering William ordered it to the bridge. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.06.30 (USS Boudicca- Security Office-ASC Ensign Ryko Skylynx- 2100) Ryko thought long and hard as he reviewed the contents of his report. He'd settled into his position well, he felt, and was happy with his posting. All he had to do for tonight was to hand his Defence Modifications in to Lt Bush, then hopefully he'd get some down-time. He blinked and read the last line of script on the padd. Becoming slightly drowsy, he placed it down on the desk and stepped up to the replicator. "Coffee, black, hot," he said. The drink materialised instantly in front of him. He seated himself and continued. "Resume recording," he ordered the PADD. A bleep signaled the padd was recieving audio. "In summary, I believe that the best form of internal defence, especially against other starfleet officers, is a modification of the force-field emitters on each deck that are used to control fires. By adding an extra module to these emitters, they can be made to fire a wide-beam, low-intensity phaser sweep to stun anyone who is not wearing a communicator registered in the ship's roster. Also, to protect essential areas of the ship, one-way forcefields can be used to block entrance of unwelcome intruders." He gulped down some coffee. "Also, by configuring our deflector dish to emit low-frequency tachyon bursts with each shield remodulation and using a rotating frequency pattern, we can make enemy boarding a lot more difficult." He finished his coffee and pressed one key on the PADD. "See attached." Another bleep confirmed that the computer simulation Ryko had earlier created had been added to the message. "Security teams will be posted in every major area of the ship, including the main and battle bridge, engineering, sickbay, the mess hall and decks 2 and 3, to protect crew quarters. The Mess Hall could be used as an auxiliary sickbay for the wounded. Where necessary, security teams could be backed up by small numbers of marines armed for close-quarters combat." Ryko sighed. His neck was aching. "End report." The padd bleeped. Ryko picked it up, checked it one last time and sighed again. He checked the time. 2130. Time to report. "Computer, locate Lt William Bush." [Lieutenant Bush is on the bridge.] the computer replied. Ryko headed out of the office, towards the nearest turbolift. He stepped inside. "Bridge," he said. The turbolift started and within minutes the doors opened. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.06.30 (USS Boudicca - Bridge- ATAC/ASC Ensign Ryko Skylynx- 2115) “Ensign,” William stated. “Here is my defence report sir, as thorough as possible," Ryko said. He handed to Padd to Bush. He browsed it for a moment." “I will have a proper look later,” Will stated. Ryko relaxed a little as he took in all the events occuring on the bridge. "Obviously now is not a good time to begin holodeck simulations sir, perhaps at some point tomorrow?" “Of course Ensign,” Bush replied. "Well, if you will excuse me sir, I must be getting on. Patrol Duty." Ryko said, and turned to leave. “Of course Ensign, however please return at 21:50 you can start a bridge shift and we will start your training with the holographic interface,” Will stated. "Aye Sir," Ryko said. He exited the bridge and entered the turbolift. ~graveyard shift, grr~ he thought to himself with a smile. He ordered the lift to deck 6. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.06.30 (USS Boudicca - Bridge- TAC/SC – Lt. William Bush - 2115) William looked at the tactical display; the CO had ordered him to keep an eye on the tactical display. Will watched carefully keeping his eyes at all times on the sensor readings it was a uncomfortable situation knowing that he might have to fire upon his own people. Will looked up for a second and saw the yellow shirt of a security officer looking up he recognised his assistant. “Ensign,” William stated. “Here is my defence report sir, as thorough as possible," The ensign gave him a pad beginning to read it quickly he looked back up to look at the ensign. “I will have a proper look later,” Will stated. "Obviously now is not a good time to begin holodeck simulations sir, perhaps at some point tomorrow?" “Of course Ensign,” William stated, for some one just out of the academy the Assistant already had the ability to Asses a situation. A quality that was going to grow. "Well, if you will excuse me sir, I must be getting on. Patrol Duty." “Of course Ensign, however please return at 21:50 you can start a bridge shift and we will start your training with the holographic interface,” Will stated. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.06.30 (USS Boudicca, Bridge- ASC Ensign Ryko Skylynx- 2115) Ryko cold see that everyone was busy. Captain Sevant was giving orders concerning course and ensuring everyone did their tasks. As Ryko stepped onto the rear of the bridge, Sevant headed into his Ready Room. Ryko ignored this and headed towards Lt Bush. Bush saw him, and ensuring everythng was in order, turned his attention to Ryko. (Reply Bush) "Here is my defense report sir, as thorough as possible," Ryko stated. He handed Bush the Padd. (Reply bush) "Obviously now is not a good time to begin holodeck simulations sir, perhaps at some point tomorrow?" He asked. (Reply bush) Ryko nodded. "Well, If you will excuse me sir, I must be getting on. Patrol Duty." Ryko smiled, turned, and headed back to the turbolift. ~graveyard shift,~ Ryko thought as he entered.~this is gonna be a long night.~ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.06.30 (USS Boudicca, Deck Six- CSO's office- ASC Ensign Ryko Skylynx, 2130) Ryko entered the office. There was no one there. ~that's a good start,~ Ryko thought. He sighed and decided to get started. "Computer, run a level 4 internal sensor sweep for anything out of ordinary perameters." [Confirmed. Sensor sweep will end in 15 minutes] "Quarter of an hour to burn." Ryko thought for a moment and realised this would be a good time to familiarise himself with the ship. He decided to pay trips to each of the major areas- Mess Hall and Engineering were the only two he hadn't thoroughly examined yet, plus he needed to talk to the CEO about those modifications, to see if they were possible. "Well, best be going," he thought, and made his way to the turbolift. He entered and said, "Deck Nine, Mess Hall." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.06.30 (USS Boudicca, Mess Hall- Ensign Ryko Skylynx- 2135) Ryko's eyes scanned the room. Nope, nothing unusual. He walked around for a moment and spotted the ensign he'd seen on Geneva sitting by a window with a few collegues. Obviously they were deep in conversation. Ryko decided it was best not to bother them, and he departed to visit the next item on the checklist- Engineering. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.06.30 (USS Boudicca, Engineering- Ensign Ryko Skylynx- 2139) Ryko entered the main engineering room, and was surprised by its size. He'd often wondered exactly what the maximum output of a warp core was, but he knew this wasn't the time to worry. He was spotted almost immediately by Saim Enaj. (reply saim) Ryko stopped looking around and turned his attention to Enaj. "I'm just doing my rounds, making sure everything is so-so. Any security problems here?" (reply saim) "Okay," Ryko said. "There is one thing I would like to ask you about though, if you have a minute." (reply Saim) "Lt Bush and I have been working on defence measures in the event of a boarding party. Here are the details." Ryko handed a Padd to Enaj outlining how he intended to augment the fire control systems to stun intruders with low-frequency phaser sweeps. (reply Saim) "I just need to know how much power it's going to use- I know that's one of the things we're having constant problems with right now," Ryko said. (Reply Saim) "Thankyou, ensign," he said. Ryko turned and left. He felt time had gotten on quite a bit. "Computer, what is the current ship-time?" [2145] Ryko sighed. Time to get back to the bridge. He entered a turbolift, dusted himself down and ordered the doors to close. "Bridge," he said, and was shuttled to the nerve centre of the ship. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.06.30 (USS Boudicca – Bridge – TAC/SC – Lt. William Bush – 22:50) NRPG Firstly id like to say sorry to Steve we have produced a joint post to cover this but my computer being my computer decided to destroy the conv so from me sorry. every one who knows me can vouch i suck on PCs :-) RPG William looked at the tactical consol; since the ship was not in red alert the tactical display was in stand down mode. There was no holographic interface in effect; Will began to read the effectiveness reports from each department until his assistant broke his concentration. “Very good ensign,” William stated accepting the pad and beginning to read. "Ready when you are, sir," William looked up and smiled at the ensign. “Right lets begin then Ensign, Would you like to join me on the holodeck?” (Reply Skylynx) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.06.30 (USS Boudicca – Bridge – ATAC/ASC – Ensign Ryko Skylynx – 22:50) Ryko handed the report padd to Bush in greeting his mentor. “Very good ensign,” William stated accepting the pad and beginning to read. "Ready when you are, sir," Ryko said eagerly. William looked up and smiled at the ensign. “Right lets begin then Ensign, Would you like to join me on the holodeck?” "After you," Ryko said, standing aside. Lt Bush approached and entered a turbolift. Ryko followed, and moments later they were outside Holodeck 1. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.06.30 (USS Boudicca, Bridge- Ensign Ryko Skylynx- 2250) Ryko saw Lt Bush immediately, and approached. On his way to the bridge, he'd picked up the results of the internal sensor sweep and added to them Ensign Enaj's comments. He presented himself and handed the Padd to Bush. (Reply Bush) "Ready when you are, sir," Ryko said. Outside he was calm, but inside he was both excited and slightly nervous. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.06.30 (USS Boudicca – Holodeck One – TAC/SC – Lt. William Bush – 23:00) William moved into the holodeck and then over to the archway, typing in a series of commands the holodeck transformed into a replica of the Boudicca bridge complete with the senior staff. After looking at the holographic representation of his frozen Captain William looked at the assistant. “Mr Skylynx, here is a simple run down each finger can be programmed to a option or command. Your fingers can control each weapons system,” William stated. (Reply Skylynx) “Right, any programming you make here will move up to the main tactical consol on the bridge,” Pausing William turned to the archway. “Computer initialise interface with the Bridge tactical consol,” The computer beeped in agreement. “Computer accept new programming for new user Ensign Ryko Skylynx, Assistant Tactical officer,” The computer bleeped in agreement. (Reply Skylynx) After the ensign programming his series of commands in William smiled and straightened his uniform. “We are going to run several training scenarios firstly who would you like to train on?” NRPG Now Steve cast your mind back and fill in your bits ;-) RPG (Reply Skylynx) “Hum, Freighters do not really pose a threat. I have a better starter for you,” William stated looking at the roof of the ship. “Computer load one Ferengi Vessel,” The ship was loaded and then William smiled at the Ensign and indicated to begin. (Reply Skylynx) After the Ensign quickly dispatching the Ferengi vessel William created a bit more of a challenge for the Assistant to deal with. “Create one sovereign Class vessel. Ensign Carry on,” (Reply Skylynx) After dispatching yet another enemy William smiled and decided one last challenge would be worthy. He had so far faced good odds in his favour it was about time that was altered. “Computer create One Borg Cube and 5 smaller craft,” The computer beeped in agreement and then the battle began. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.06.30 (USS Boudicca – Holodeck One – ATAC/ASC – Ensign Ryko Skylynx – 23:00) William moved into the holodeck and then over to the archway, typing in a series of commands the holodeck transformed into a replica of the Boudicca bridge complete with the senior staff. After looking at the holographic representation of his frozen Captain William looked at the assistant. “Mr Skylynx, here is a simple run down each finger can be programmed to a option or command. Your fingers can control each weapons system,” William stated. "With you so far, sir," Ryko said, flexing his wrists and fingers. “Right, any programming you make here will move up to the main tactical consol on the bridge,” Pausing William turned to the archway. “Computer initialise interface with the Bridge tactical consol,” The computer beeped in agreement. “Computer accept new programming for new user Ensign Ryko Skylynx, Assistant Tactical officer,” The computer bleeped in agreement. Ryko programmed all of the Boudicca's forward weapons to his left hand and the Aft weapons to his right. Having 4 fingers spare, he programmed these to serve as propulsion controls. As Ryko finished his task, there was nothing but concentration on his face. After the ensign finished programming his series of commands in William smiled and straightened his uniform. "We are going to run several training scenarios firstly who would you like to train on?" NRPG This is the hardest part, that stuff was REALLY dramatic! RPG: "Well, I'm just getting used to the controls, so I'm gonna need something slow to practice on. How about...a freighter?" Ryko suggested. Freighters were extremely slow, but also unarmed. "Hum, Freighters do not really pose a threat. I have a better starter for you," William stated looking at the roof of the ship. "Computer load one Ferengi Marauder." The ship was loaded and then William smiled at the Ensign and indicated to begin. Ryko looked at the console. Shields at 100%. ~alright, let's get this show on the road,~ he thought. He flexed his fingers to bring the boudicca up to speed to intercept the marauder. "Engaging to disable, Sir," Ryko reported to Bush. A nod. Ryko carried on. "Targeting impulse engines." Ryko's hand flinched, and seconds later 4 quantum torpedoes launched. They contacted the surface of the marauder's shields, disabling them almost immediately. Ryko continued to disable the marauder with a quick burst of phaser fire, rendering it helpless. After the Ensign quickly dispatching the Ferengi vessel William created a bit more of a challenge for the Assistant to deal with. "Create one sovereign Class vessel. Ensign Carry on," Ryko was shocked. Sovereigns were built to last. They weren't easy to take down, but he knew their weakspot was manoeuverability. The smaller Boudicca had an advantage in speed. Time to use it. Ryko fired a blast of phasers to get the ship's attention, then turned tail and led the persuing Sovereign on a little chase. After a couple of seconds, he arched the Boudicca overhead of the Sovereign, in perfect range of its impulse engines. He Fired all of the Boudicca's Dorsal Phaser arrays in low frequency to damage the shields. Ryko brought the Boudicca behind the Sovereign and checked the readout. Enemy shields were at 60 per cent. Ryko formed an Idea. He sped up and once again flew above the sovereign. Firing a sustained phaser blast, he Let fly a volley of torpedoes. As he hoped, the Shields were focused on repelling the phaser beam, leaving the area around them weakened. The torpedpes sailed through and impacted on the Red rectangles that were the Sovereign's engines. The ship ground to a halt. Ryko saw Bush indicate a tiny speck of pride. "I call it the Slice And Dice manoeuvre," Ryko said. Bush seemed slightly confused. "I'll explain later." Ryko said, as he caught his breath. William smiled and decided one last challenge would make Ryko worthy. He had so far faced good odds in his favour. It was about time that was altered. "Computer, create One Borg Cube and 5 smaller craft," Bush ordered. Ryko flinched inside. The Borg? With a ship this small? The computer beeped in agreement and then the battle began. Ryko acted on instinct. The cube was transmitting the same, long, boring message. It was like a civil-comm message. Ryko ignored it. He'd heard it too many times. ~You ain't packing me, punks," Ryko thought with a smile. (NRPG: Civil Comm is the equivalent of Public Access TV. Translation: Dull.) Ryko leaned towards the display. He thought for a moment, while initiating evasive manoeuvres. The five smaller ships were all defiant-class. Considering this was a tactical simulation, Diplomacy was not an option. "Best take off it's legs, then focus on the head." Ryko said in reference to the Cube, now being flanked by the Defiants. Ryko decided it was time to take the offensive. Targeting the nearest Defiant, he unleashed a volley of torpedoes at its poorly-shielded engines. The ship stopped almost immediately. Seeing another directly ahead, Ryko utilised the Slice and Dice manoeuvre. As another ship drifted away, Ryko checked the shield status, 70 percent. It was enough. Another defiant class chased him, firing at the Boudicca's engines. It was trying to use his own tactics against him. Ryko could clearly see another ship coming in to intercept from Port. He had seen this situation before. He cast his mind back to the Academy, training with Scud Tempest. Yes, he'd done this exact same thing with 2 Warbirds in a Nebula class. Why couldn't he apply the same tactics here? Thinking fast, Ryko brought the Boudicca round in a sweeping loop. The fire from the port Defiant struck its companion, rendering it useless. Ryko turned his attention to the remaining ship and disabled it with a volley of torpedoes. He checked the shields again. 45 per cent. Time to deal with the biggest obstacle. He set a course and headed straight towards the cube. He was met by a blinding light of Beam fire from the cube. He didn't veer off. Nothing but concentration was on his face, his eyes were alight with the green glow of the Cube's weapons. Painful memories flashed across his mind. Bush was confused. He looked at Ryko. What was he doing? [PROXIMITY WARNING! 500 Metres, 250 metres, 125 metres...] Ryko did not stop. "Not yet, just a little further..." he said to himself. All of the characters on the bridge were pinned to their seats. Even Bush was looking scared. Had his assistant suddenly snapped? [100 Metres. 50 metres...] "NOW!" Ryko said, wrenching his hands back. The Boudicca screeched into a perfect vertical ascent, parallel with the surface of the cube. Ryko fired every weapon. Impacts seared the face of the cube's hull. The remaining Defiant futilely fired on the Boudicca. It missed spectacularly, and the torpedoes further wounded the borg ship. As the boudicca reached the top of the cube, Ryko had it veer away on an escape vector. He glanced fleetingly at the shields. 15 per cent. The boudicca fled. Ryko noticed he had 30 torpedoes left. Quantum. He smiled slightly. The boudicca desperately accelerated away from the cube. Ryko's right thumb flinched. 4 quantum torpedoes screamed away from the ship as it escaped to warp. Ryko breathed a sigh of relief, relaxed, and sat back. "That was the most difficult thing I have ever done," he panted. "But it was SO much fun." Bush raised his eyebrow. Ryko could sense that there was something amiss. "I mean, I had to make sure that the cube was unable to follow as we escaped. I just, acted on instinct." Ryko said, hoping that justified his actions. He looked at the display. "No major damage, Shields are at 15 percent, minor casualty reports from decks 4, 12, and 14. Nothing irreperable," Ryko summarised. Adrenaline was still coursing through his veins. "I realise that I may have seemed crazy, even animalistic, but believe me, the first concern I had was the safety of this crew. Realistically speaking, if that Cube had the ability to follow, we would most likely be dead by now," he said. Ryko could see that Bush understood. "So, um, how did I do?" he asked. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Battle Bridge, Ready Room - Troi & Rin - 0026) It was absolutely no surprised that his chime should be ringing, but it still made him frown in irritation. He tapped the monitor off and turned to face the door. Sevant wiped his face, then settled back in the chair. "Come." he said, quietly. Kyle accidently dropped his father's diary as the door slid open he quickly picked the diary up and entered just clearing the door as it slid closed. Kestra entered as ordered and walked right up to the desk that Captain Sevant was sitting at. She wanted to greet him as a member from the Nimitz but she could not as she had to remain professional. "Lieutenant Senior Grade Kestra Troi reporting as ordered sir" Kestra said as she came to attention at the appropriate distance and saluted. Tucking his father's diary back under his arm he gave a horrible half-ass salute and fiddled around with getting the diary to stay under his arm. "Ensign Dr. Kyle Rin reporting." he said while he continued to fight with the diary. NRPG: sorry i felt the need for a few laughs :) RPG: Sevant looked at both of them for a few moments, his fingertips tapping lightly against each other. Finally, he looked solidly at Ensign Rin. "Ensign, wait outside for a few minutes." "Aye sir." he replied removing the diary and just holding it as he exited the room. Sevant nodded as the Ensign exited the room, then he turned his attention back to Kestra. Outside Kyle wondered about Kestra he really didn't know much about her past nor anybody else onboard. Opening his father's diary to the first page he skimmed through a forward written for him from his father. "Kyle my dearest son i will not always be around for you and your mother. But i know in my heart you will take the greatest care of her always your father Brandon Rin." He closed the book as the door to the ready room slid open Kestra exited. At the door she informed Ensign Rin that he could enter and saw his eyes as his landed on her new rank. All she did was shrug and smile at him. Kyle gave a half smile back and entered the ready room Captain Sevant was sitting behind his desk with a half gaze at the door which fixed onto Kyle as he entered. (reply sevant) Kyle placed the diary under his arm once again fiddling with it saluted to Sevant and waited for his reply. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Battle Bridge, Ready Room - Kyle Rin - 0032) "Report, Ensign." "Ensign Kyle Rin ACSO, Reporting for duty sir!" Sevant nodded, then tapped on his console. "Our newest scientist, Assistant Chief Science Officer." He scrolled the bio for several long seconds while the ensign waited, then shut the monitor down and looked back over. "Welcome aboard, Ensign Rin." "Thank you sir." Sevant sat back in his chair, and folded his hands together. "If you haven't found your quarters already, talk to the quartermaster and find your room assignment. Your first shift will begin tomorrow at 0800." He leaned forward again, "We do not yet have a Head of Department, there will be you and Ensign Sparek running the department for now. Sparek has the seniority on you for the time being, but nominally you both have the same rank and position. Does this pose a problem for you, Ensign?" "No sir it doesn't." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Battle Bridge, Ready Room - Sevant - 0032) "Report, Ensign." "Ensign Kyle Rin ACSO, Reporting for duty sir!" Sevant nodded, then tapped on his console. "Our newest scientist, Assistant Chief Science Officer." He scrolled the bio for several long seconds while the ensign waited, then shut the monitor down and looked back over. "Welcome aboard, Ensign Rin." (reply: If desired) Sevant sat back in his chair, and folded his hands together. "If you haven't found your quarters already, talk to the quartermaster and find your room assignment. Your first shift will begin tomorrow at 0800." He leaned forward again, "We do not yet have a Head of Department, there will be you and Ensign Sparek running the department for now. Does this pose a problem for you, Ensign?" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Battle Bridge, Ready Room - Sevant - 0032) Sevant watched the new officer salute, with a quirk eyebrow. He motioned the officer down, "Report, Ensign." he said, shortly. (reply: Rin) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Battle Bridge, Ready Room - Sevant & Rin - 0034) "If you haven't found your quarters already, talk to the quartermaster and find your room assignment. Sparek has the seniority on you for the time being, but nominally you both have the same rank and position. Does this pose a problem for you, Ensign?" "No sir it doesn't." Sevant tapped his fingers together for a moment, then nodded. "Tell me, briefly, about yourself then." Kyle began softly. "I was born in Scotland, had a private tutor till the age of 19 when my parents were murdered by Romulans and then joined starfleets warp core technology school." pausing for a second he glanced over at Captain Sevant wondering what his reply would be. Kyle handed Sevant his padd and motioned if he should finish up and continue. Sevant quirked an eyebrow, and made a note to fully read this officers file. "Continue." Nodding he continued where he left off. "I graduated the technology school at age 20. thanks to alot of time spent with my father who largely contributed to the first warp drive. Afterwards I joined the academy graduated after my 4th year and was assigned to the Boudicca by Admiral LoDona." finishing up Kyle waited for the Captain's reply. Sevant nodded, and leaned forward again. "Once again, Doctor, welcome aboard." Kyle returned a nod toward the Captain "Thank you again sir. It will be an honor to serve you." The Captain folded his hands on the desk, "Dismissed, Ensign." Giving the captain one last salute Kyle picked his bag up along with his father's diary turned and made his way out of Captain Sevant's ready room. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca, sickbay, Lt. Commander, Kestra Troi, 0040) Kestra had been ordered to sickbay to see if she could get a quick brief on the situation of the nanites. She had been curious about the nanites when she was turned away as she first arrived. She was eager to get to find out what she could about them just in case she would have to deal with them or something similar in the future. So, once she was freed from Sevant's office, she headed straight to sickbay. Once she arrived sickbay, she looked around for the person that was heading up the night shift or the aCMO. As she was looking an Andorian male walked up to her. "Excuse me Commander, Can I help you?" Garav asked "Yes, Ensign Aldrin" she looked at his name tag and his rank, "I am the new Chief Medical Officer. Is the acting Chief still around?" "I am sorry Doctor, but, Dr. Alizara our Counselor was acting as the CMO till the new one, you, arrived. She has already retired for the night as she seemed to be really tired. We had a bought with Nanites and it wore her out. If you need to talk with her, I could call her in." Garav replied. "No that will not be necessary." Kestra said thinking, "do you know if she filed a report on the nanites and what was done to eradicate them?" "I believe she was going to accomplish that in the morning when she started work" Garav answered "Ok, well, is there any special patient here that needs my attention?" Kestra asked "At present there are no patients in sickbay" Garav informed her. "Ok then, I guess I will be in the office for a bit if you need me." Kestra informed him as she turned to head in that direction "Yes, sir and welcome to the Boudicca" Garav replied then returned to what he was doing. "Thanks Ensign" Kestra responded with a smile and thought that so far it seemed that it would be a good assignment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca, Medical Office, Lt. Commander, Kestra Troi, 0050) Kestra sat down at her desk and turned the computer on, knowing that she had to make sure it knew who she was. "computer, Lieutenant Commander Kestra Troi, Chief Medical Officer assuming command of Medical facitlities, Kestra Omega three five seven Alpha" [Acknowledged, Command of Medical Facilities has been changed to Lieutenant Commander Kestra Troi, Chief Medical Officer, USS Boudicca, on 2406.07.01, at 0055 hours] Kestra was then able to open the files of all crew members assigned to the Boudicca, but, she decided to start with her own crew and make sure they were assigned to appropriate shifts. She also wanted to inform the Captain of who was asigned to what shift with copies sent to each individuals. "Computer take a message and send it to the Captain with copies to each crew member of the medical staff" Kestra said [recording] "To: Captain Sevant" "CC: all medical staff, Dr. Domini Alizara" "Subject: Assigning shifts" "Sir, I have went through the files of the medical staff that is assigned and decided that the shifts will be as following" Shifts A (0700-1500) Betazoid - Female - Lieutenant Commander Kestra Troi - Chief Medical Officer Bajorian - Female - Lieutenant Fala - Nurse Human - Male - Greg Luvana - Medical Technician Human - Male - Hikaru Wu - Orderly Shifts B (1500-2300) Human - Female - Lieutenant Cassandra Butan - Medical Officer Human - Female - Jessie Rayles - Nurse Human - Female - Rhonda McDonald - Medical Technician Bajorian - Male - Edon Baeril - Orderly Shifts C (2300-0700) Andorian - Male - Ensign Garav Aldrin - Medical Officer Bolian - Female - Crewman Alba Chell - Nurse Human - Male - Victor Dltor - Medical Technician Human - Male - John McCoy - Orderly "This is the normal duty rotations with changes occuring as needed. Each member of the medical staff will make time to report to me for an initial evaluation within the next 24 hours." "Signed Lieutenant Commander Kestra Troi, Chief Medical Officer USS Boudicca, Starfleet Command" "Computer end and send" Kestra told the computer. [message sent] Next, Kestra searched the computer files for any reference to the nanites in hopes that Dr. Alizara had at least put something of what happened. She could not find anything, so, Kestra decided that she might as well wait till A shift to talk to the good Doctor. She closed down her terminal then walked out into sickbay looking for Ensign Aldrin. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Battle Bridge, Ready Room - Sevant - 0055) Sevant took a deep breath, and rubbed his eyes. This had been a long day, well before he had taken command. Now, he didn't know what to consider it. He was going to require rest soon, his human side required more then occasional meditation. Besides, there was too much going on to successfully meditate anyway, to many problems and considerations to mull over. His console beeped, and by reflex the Vulcan tapped it. He took a glance over it, noticed it was a schedule for the medical department. He committed it to memory, then sent off a short acknowledgement that he had received it. Projects were indicating that the hull would be repaired and ready to go within the next few hours, patches were being applied. Luckily, the Nanites were methodical, and their damage could be fully scanned and circumvented. The situation could have turned much worse. ~Although~ he thought wryly, ~It could have been far better, too.~ He shut the monitor down and turned his attention to a few PADDS, status reports and projections for the ship. After a few moments, he shook his head. He would be absolutely no good if he didn't get at least a couple hours of rest. With ease he stood, and walked onto the bridge. "Operations has the bridge." he said, as he headed for the turbolift. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca, Sickbay, Lt. Commander, Kestra Troi, 0120) Kestra approached Ensign Aldrin again with questions hoping that he might be able to answer them. "Ensign, would you be able to shed some light on what happened tonight with the nanites and how they were removed?" Kestra asked him "I wasnt really involved with the removal process as all the medical staff and I were busy rounding up the crew to remove them to the cleansing area. I can tell you that they somehow came about with Ensign Sparek I believe was his name and that Doctor Alizara had a hand in coming up with a way to cleanse them." Garav answered her. "I guess I will just have to wait till I can talk to this Doctor Alizara to find out what was done." Kestra replied, "I am going to retire to get some rest before I have to report for my duty shift. If you need me just page me." Kestra informed him. "Aye sir, will do" Garav replied to her. Kestra then turned to leave and head to her quarters. She was actually very tired from the long trip she had just accomplished. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca, CMO Quarters, Lt. Commander, Kestra Troi, 0700) Domini woke up early, and stretched, rising quickly to shower and dress in her uniform. She quickly tidied her bed, then hit her comm badge. "Computer is Kestra Troi on board yet?" Domini asked. The computer replied in the affirmative. "Is she awake?" The computer again replied that she was. "Dr. Alizara to Lt. Troi. Would you like to have breakfast in my quarters with me?" She asked. "I would like to meet you." Kestra had never slept good on the first night aboard a new ship she had been assigned to, this one was no different. She even had added things that caused her to be too excited to sleep very well. The fact that Sevant was the captain was one exciting aspect, then being promoted to Lt. Commander and being given the position of Second Officer was also a reason not to be able to sleep. After her talk with Sevant, she had went to find her quarters, which, where she found her belongs had been delivered. She took a nice long shower to ease her muscles from the long trip and then had tried to sleep but her mind had been too wound up to let her. =\=Dr. Alizara to Lt. Troi. Would you like to have breakfast in my quarters with me? I would like to meet you.=\= Came across her com. Kestra had not known that anyone on board would have known that she was assigned. She did not really know what to think on how this Dr. Alizara found out, but, she did need to eat and maybe she could find out some information on what has been going on. "Doctor Alizara, I would be happy to. Say in fifteen minutes?" Kestra asked setting a good time frame. Domini nodded to herself. =\=Of course.=\= She had replied, then went over to the small table that was sitting in her quarters. She hadn't seen it the night before, and shook her head over this strange neo-art deco style that the starfleet personnel who had decorated her quarters had chosen. It would have to do for now, she thought, going over to the small pile of shawls that she hadn't distributed yet, and covering the table in a soft one home-spun by a betazoid - soft pastel colors and a very soft cloth. She nodded to herself, then began to set the table with a typical betazoid breakfast, including pastries and a tea native to betazed that she kept packets of with her. She missed her home, and tried to bring as much of it as she could with her. ~I wonder if I could get Jade to ship me my tea set~ She thought to herself with a grin. Knowing how Jade thought, it was probably on it's way, marked fragile. She finished setting the table right as the door rang and she acknowledged it from across the room, turning to greet her co-worker with typical betazoid openness and a very exuberant charm. Kestra asked the computer where the quarters was of Dr. Alizara and found that it had not been so far away from her own quarters. It was definitely not going to take her fifteen minutes to get there, so, she had a little time to make sure she had herself dressed in her new uniform. She decided that once she left, she would be heading to her new office to look things over. Before she left her quarters she replicated a box of milk chocolate candies that she had always liked and hoped that the good doctor would also. After she finished she headed over to Dr. Alizara's quarters. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca, COUNS Quarters, Lt. Commander, Kestra Troi/Lieutenant Domini Alizara, 0720) Once she arrived, she pushed the door chime and was immediately greeted with permission to enter. Kestra noticed that the person that she saw was a Betazoid as she was and was trying to greet her in the typical Betazoid manner of openness and charm. Kestra put up her firm shield but tried to return the charm as she handed her the box of candies. "Dr. Alizara, I presume. I hope that you like my favorite chocolates." She said as she handed them over. Domini nodded and bowed from the waist, accepting the chocolates with a smile. "Thank you, very much, Lt. Troi. My name is Domini Alizara, my mother is Alizara of the Seventh House. She is a Peace Keeper. Please, call me Domini. I don't know if you have had a chance to go over the crew listings yet, but I am the Counselor, and have been serving as the CMO for the last day. I hope that sickbay is to your liking - it is a mess, but much less than it was yesterday! Please come and share the bread of my table with me, and be welcome to my hearth and home." She spoke the traditional words of welcome at the end, and motioned for Lt. Troi to have a seat. "I am from the Fifth House that is the keepers of the sacred challis and that my mother is LiSuini. Please call me Kestra when not on duty. I am honored to share bread from your table and to be in your home. May your hearth and home be honored by the partaking.." Kestra also bowed at the waist to what Domini had said. Kestra then sat down where Domini gestured. "I am sorry but I have not looked over the crew listing yet, but, I am glad that we do have a counselor with us. I am a trained counselor and it is my major when coming out of the Academy. I know that it is not easy to set up sickbay in one day, so, I am thankful for anything you have done for me. I would like to read your report of the incident that happened yesterday and possibly speak to you more once I do. I know that I will have questions later and I do look forward to working closely with you." Domini looked up and blushed. "You got promoted." She spoke, in characteristic betazoid bluntness. Kestra had not been one to make her rank known and usually left it up to the person to notice unless she had to use it. "Thanks yes, it was a complete surprise when Captain Sevant presented it to me." Kestra replied as she blushed a bit not knowing why. Domini nodded, and handed Kestra the pastries. "There should be some made from uttaberries in there." She spoke, pouring them both tea. ~I've fallen out of the habit of giving thanks, and that damned gong always gave me a headache. Besides, it doesn't seem right to have a computer make the noise.~ She spoke telepathically, sipping her tea. Kestra heard Domini in her mind but chose not to reply in kind and hoped that she would not take offense to it. "Domini, I offer you no offense but I have chosen to curb the use of my telepathic abilities until it is very needed." Kestra told her taking a bite out of the pastry then sipping the tea. "You have done this meal honor as it is very good." Domini blinked. "That isn't very betazoid like." She spoke in kind. "But I offered no offense. Have you been so long from home?" She asked in concern. "You are completely right, it is not Betazoid like, but, it is the way I prefer it." Kestra replied, "There is just a lot of history to go into at this time. If you feel offended I will honor you with the typical Betazoid speech at this time." Domini shook her head. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean for this to start out this way. I made some assumptions that I should not have, and I apologize. It's been a long time since I've been home too. Earth is not the same as Betazed, no matter how many Betazoids there are there. I was glad that another was posted aboard, and I wanted to be close to her, especially since I would hazard we have very similar upbringing?" Domini closed her mind off then, and made a sad little mental sigh well within her shields. "I am sorry also as I have dishonored you." Kestra said regretfully, "I have not slept since I left the Nimitz and I guess it is showing. I am not usually this way. To tell you the truth, I don't know why I am this way." Kestra tried to smile but continued. "I can talk to you as you are the counselor, I don't understand why I was given the rank as I was promoted not long ago or why I got a command position." Kestra explained as she got up to walk into the leaving room. "I am going to presume that since you knew I was coming aboard, you looked up my file?" Domini shook her head. "No. I was given a report on Captain Sevant that was from his former Counselor, but there was nothing on you." She spoke evenly, pouring more tea and following Kestra into the living room. Domini took a seat on the reclining chair and wished briefly for the rocking chair that Jade had. ~Something else to add to the list~ She thought to herself. "What is wrong?" Domini asked. "I am confused" Kestra looked at Domini, "not sick confused just confused as to what has happened here so far. I came here basically knowing that I would be the CMO but not that I would be promoted and given an additional duty. Not that I am unhappy because I am, really." Kestra saw the confusion now on Domini's face. "Let me give you a quick run down. My husband recently was killed in another part of the universe and I had a hard time with it. Basically, I had a mental breakdown when the bond finally broke. I did a few things on the Nimitz during that time that I am not so proud of. It took my mother, Lisuini and my kids arriving to get me out of my depression. So, as you can see my dilemma, how did I get picked for this?" "Well..I would say, why did they pick Sevant for Captain? His escapades on the Nimitz should have gotten him thrown out of the fleet and put on a penal colony, according to what his last Counselor wrote. But Starfleet chose him to be Captain. Why do you think?" Kestra thought for a few minutes while looking at Domini, "I really can not answer that unless there were just no one else." Kestra smiled at the answer. "I do tell you though, I am glad and will try to live up to the expectations." Domini shook her head and smiled. "Kestra, you served a board the Nimitz, you k now what is going on here. We are at war. When war happens, those who are ordinary are required to be extraordinary, the extraordinary are required to take a step beyond. Starfleet did not get rid of Sevant, because Sevant is too good of an officer to lose. He is loyal to the Federation, and I would a hazard a guess that you have been checked out and found to be beyond reproach. That is why you are here. This is a ship of war, Kestra, and we, all of us, have been hand picked to serve aboard her. None of us are ordinary and a lot will be asked of us...most of it will not have been taught in the Academy." She smiled as she finished. While Kestra listened to what Domini said it all came to her in a way that made perfect sense. It seemed like a weight had just been lifted from her shoulders and she wondered why she had not come up with an answer like that as she was once a counselor. Maybe she had been away from it for too long. "Now I know why you have been picked, doctor, you have a level head on your shoulders." ~ I am very much glad to have you here to work close by me.~ The later she put in the normal speech for Betazoids to honor her. "I don't know why I was picked." Domini spoke softly. "I had to get off of Earth. I loved living there, but..but space calls to me. I was marooned there after back-talking to a certain Admiral that we all know and love..." Domini shook her head. "They told me it was because I had taken the training to be a Peace Keeper. I don't know if that is true, personally I thought it was because I had both degrees, medical and psychology." She grinned lopsided. "I heard last night from my house mate and best friend that the office I worked in at the Academy was burned and everything ruined." She couldn't conceal how much this disturbed her. "I can see why the office burning would disturb you. I think it would disturb me also as it might be a sign that someone could be after me." Kestra said then she remembered what she has been through. "Actually, I do have people after me and they have already killed my father. They probably killed my husband also and have threatened to kill everyone in my family. So far they are living up to what they have said." Kestra took a deep breath before continuing, "But, I have to just put that behind me and trust people that have been given charge to look after the health and welfare of my children." "As for you my dear, I think that your level headedness is your best attribute. In the times of war, or any battles for that matter, level heads tend to do better. You are in a good position to help the captain when everything around him is chaos to see the balance. I know that Captain Sevant is very good in times of battle, but, everyone needs help once in a while." Domini inclined her head listening. She thought for a second, and nodded. "I see what you mean. Tell me about your children, please?" She asked, softly. Kestra smiled when asked about her kids as their memory was brought forward and she warmed all over from it. "I have three children, Trisha, Centrina and Sky jr. Trisha I adopted while on a mission relocating her people to another planet when I was on the nimitz. Centrina and Sky are twins that was born just before I made captain while transferring to another squadron with the nimitz." Kestra reflected to her about her kids. Kestra continued as she had not sat with someone and had the opportunity to just talk about them. Domini seemed to be truly interested in what she had to say and that also caused her to go forward. She did not know this person but she made it so easy to just tell her everything. "And so you know the loves of my heart now." She smiled as she finished. "Well, family is very very important to Betazoids... and I don't have much - my parents were disappointed over my joining the Fleet and so they do not talk to me much anymore, and certainly not as their precious daughter. They were equally scandalized at the bad influence I had over my half-sister... who left Betazed right after I did to pursue her musical career on Earth. Kella is the only family that I really have... and she has shown no particular attachment to anyone." Domini thought for a second. "In a way, I envy you Kestra of the Fifth House for having an Imzadi. I am sorry that you lost him, but it is better to have loved and lost than to have not loved at all." Kestra had heard that phrase before from earth people and read it in some of their books. She could tell that earth had an influence on Domini and actually Kestra thought that was good. She was saddened that her family was treating her so, and decided that a little tale could help. "If it helps any, I was ostraszied from the family when I went to starfleet and then again when I would not marry the one I was betrothed to and married Sky. My mother, bless her heart, always wants me to do the things that would put me more in the lime light of the government but I buck her at every turn. We still love each other even though we still fight. I guess we both have strong emotions and are very stubborn. I got that from her and she cant stand it." At that Kestra giggled a bit. "Give them time, they will come around and I bet they still love you. In the mean time, I would be happy to consider you my sister and part of my family." Domini gaped at what Kestra was offering. "I..I" She said to hell with words and opened her mind to Kestra again, showing her the emotions that were playing through her soul. "My mother seemed to think that I should be a Peace keeper and a mind-healer just like her, and that I should marry and bond with the docile male that she picked for me. She never got that I was so much different..." Domini then glanced at the chronometer. "It's gotten very late, Kestra." Kestra read everything that Domini offered to her and was astounded at the fact at she had done that. "You have got to be your own person, Domini. As much and more on Betazed, do what we have or are doing, the more it will be easier for them to accept it." Kestra said as she opened her mind as she had not done in so long she almost forgot how to do it and was worried that what Domini would see would scare her. "Yes it is getting late and I need to make an appearance in sickbay to see what is going on. I thank you for this, it has made me feel loads better." Kestra got up and gave her a hug as sisters do from time to time. Domini marveled that they had grown so close so quickly. "And I should goto the bridge and see what is going on." She spoke, savoring the feeling of being so intimate with another, who truly understood what it meant. It helped that they had such similar upbringing, it helped that all the Houses were intermarried to some extent and they were probably cousins if someone could untangle the genealogy. "If things go well, maybe lunch might be a good thing later?" Kestra asked as she was at the door. "Have you met Yalta? She is the Ops officer and very nice. We ladies should band together against the men...get into mischief and have some fun..on out own." She grinned. "Once I see what Sickbay is like, maybe I can go see her or while you are up there, if she has the time, have her come down. Yes we do need to stick together. As they say on earth, call me you have my number." Kestra smiled as big as Domini grinned as she left. Domini took a couple of seconds to clean up her quarters, then brushed her blond curls again and headed to the bridge. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Marine Staging Center - MXO 'Spider' Drizzt - 0900) "No no no NO NO *NO*!" The Andorian bellowed to the assembled group, as they came to a complete stop in formation. Drizzt cursed, an impressively long string that called each and every present Marine's legitimacy into question, and also compared the moral fiber of their Mothers to that of a drowned sea rat that had suddenly been washed up on a desert island full of female rats. When he was finally done, a good minute later, the room feel silent after the last echo of his voice. The Marines had been marching up, down and around for the better part of an hour with the Andorian dogging their heels every step. They were not in BDU, because Spider wanted to see their faces. After another hour of this, he would know which ones had temper problems, which brushed off curses, and which took his words and used them as motivation to do better. So far, only one klingon had shown any motivation to talk back, but she had kept her temper so far. All things considered, it was really quite amazing. What it really meant was, Spider just had to push harder. "Do you people not know your right from your left" he bellowed, "We are going to do this again, and then we are going to do it AGAIN, and AGAIN, Until you people can march and think like a TEAM! Instead of some cocky romulans drunk on leave!" Now, the Klingon DID growl. "What did you..." Spider was in his face not even half a moment later. "WHAT? What did you start to say? WHAT do you think you were going to ask me?" the Andorian bellowed into the face of the Klingon. "I think you were about to ask me why I'm marching you up and down the deck, the answer should be QUITE simple. But if you can't get it through your head, then I suppose I will have to march you up and down and up and down until you don't know your right from your left anymore. Do you have a problem with that, Private?" To his credit, the Klingon didn't try to rip him limb-from-limb before saying anything. "GET OUT OF MY FACE YOU BLUE-" Spider didn’t allow that particularly nasty thought to finish. He reached out, grabbed the Klingon by the front of his uniform and yanked her forward, "I don't think I heard you, Speak LOUDER." he bellowed. That did it, the Klingon screamed something approximating a battle cry, and started to swing. She couldn’t have been in a worse position however, Spider had seen to that. Instead of trying to block, the Andorian fell to his knees. And rather then let the Klingon get the upper hand by kicking, he had grabbed the belt on the way down, then used his leverage to both yank down on the belt with one hand, while punching the left leg out with the other. The Klingon came down in an almost-controlled fall, face first, in which Spider quickly scrambled out of the way. After a couple moments, the MXO ended up on the Klingon's back with his arm wrapped around the Marine's head in a sleeper hold. Every time the Klingon tried to stand up, the Andorian would simply squeeze harder and ride out the burst of energy with silent calmness. After a minute, the Klingon gave up and laid flat, in an obvious attempt to get control of herself. "I'm going to get up now, don't move, or you will have more then me to worry about." he said, in a dangerous low tone. Spider rolled off, and immediately backed off several steps. Two Marine guards came up behind him with their hands on their sidearms, as the Klingon practically leapt to her feet with a snarl. "Resume your post," Spider said, in a dead tone. It almost looked as though the private would disobey, by charging, but she took a deep breath and moved back into the ranks without another word. The MXO looked at the rest of the troopers. Some were shocked, others angry, others kept their war-faces and showed not a thing. "Is there anyone else who would like a chance to take me down?" he asked, in just loud enough a voice to be heard. He looked up and down the line, then said "No? Then forward MARCH!" The line started marching again, just as his combadge beeped. =^=Commander Grailik to all Department Heads and Assistant Department Heads. There will be a mandatory meeting in the Observation Lounge in one hour. I want a complete departmental readiness and efficiency report to me in 45 minutes. Grailik out.=^= "SON OF A..." (USS Boudicca - Observation Lounge - MXO 'Spider' Drizzt - 0956) Drizzt sat down next to Eva with an even face, her displeasure was enough to convey the fact that He was also highly annoyed at being drug away from the training of the Marines. The Captain slid past them, and took his seat with a "Good Morning," The Andorian folded his hands together, eyes darting back and forth to the faces of all the officers he had never met, reading their expressions and committing their faces and mannerisms to memory while he still had time before the meeting. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 USS Boudicca - Bridge, Ready Room - Capt Sevant - 0900) "Ready the ship for departure, XO," "Of course Captain," He said, moving toward the door, "With your permission, I would also like to begin running the crew through efficiency drills. Ship efficiency is dire need of improvement." Sevant nodded at that, "Give it an hour, until after we know that we won't blow up in space at warp. After that, you have my blessing." (reply: Grailik) The Vulcan watched his First Officer leave, then turned back to the monitor. Their mission details had finally been released to him. They were not the average shakedown mission, he wasn't too keen to take his ship into danger without it being tried first. But they were to travel down the river, once their major systems had been confirmed as functional, so they had some time to tweak. He shook his head and stood, then made way for the Bridge. (reply: any) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca, Bridge, Ready Room, Commander Grailik, 0900) Grailik listened quietly while Sevant talked with Admiral LoDona, sipping his coffee occasionally. LoDona and Grailik had already had a private discussion earlier nanite infestation and Sevant's performance during the crisis. Grailik had cautioned the admiral not to make and hasty conclusions. While Sevant and the crew had preformed their jobs admirably, their lives had never really been in any danger. Geneva had been close at hand to whisk them all safely off the ship had it become necessary. The true test would come when they were out in deep space with no back up and all their lives were truly at stake. Of course, LoDona didn't mention any of this or that he and Grailik had even talked to Sevant. That would of been counter productive. =^=LoDona Out.=^= Grailik sat up as Sevant turned his terminal away and looked at him. "Ready the ship for departure, XO," Sevant said, indicating that Grailik was free to leave. Grailik downed his coffee and rose from his seat. "Of course Captain," He said, moving toward the door, "With your permission, I would also like to begin running the crew through efficiency drills. Ship efficiency is dire need of improvement." (Reply Sevant) Nodding his acknowledgment, Grailik exited the Ready Room. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Bridge - OPS Lt. Schafio - 0900) After the ninite incident was solved which put them behind in the time schedule, Yalta had finally time to rest and start a routine of her own. She already had started to make new friends on board... a girls club that was starting to be known through out the ship. Now, like the usual, she was on the bridge, "Sir, all departments report ready to depart." She said more or less looking at the Captain has she check other systems. Sevant nodded at the speaker, "Take us out of Geneva controlled space, 152 mark 10. Full impulse." Yalta look at the CONN officer who said. "Yes sir... 152 mark 10, full impulse." Has the ship started to move and the cloak was engage, somehow it made Yalta breath a bit easier. Then she heard the Captain say to the First Officer. "Organize a meeting in one hour, in the observation lounge, XO. You have the bridge, go to warp on these coordinates once we are out of Geneva's space." Sevant stood, looked around the bridge for a moment, then headed for the ready room. ~More work for me!~ Yalta turn around to face her console. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Bridge – TAC/SC – Lt. William Bush - 0900) William looked over the status report of the security teams, after the incident with the nanites he had suffered. 4 members had broken arms and he had lot one man in a decompression incident. William had already wrote to the mans wife and told him about the great efforts of the officer and how he will be missed. As the Captain entered the bridge again William stood to attention behind his consol. "Once we go to warp, I want a constant scan of the area for tactical targets. anything not corresponding to the 52nd fleet is to be reported at once." “Aye sir,” William stated the Captain then turned back towards the view screen and continued to give his orders. William then turned back to his report and noticed an arrival notification. Will read it to him. ~A new assistant, ~ Will thought to himself that could be prove a very useful person to have around. William began to compile information on the security teams and the Boudicca procedures. He wanted to give his new assistant all the information that was necessary. He would after all is in place incise anything happened to him. Looked at the holographic interface, the tactical systems were only running at 60% efficacy. This was not a good thing; the Captain was obviously concerned about something and worried about possible engagements. If he was going to get into a firefight he wanted things to run at 100% efficacy. He would have to raise the point to the engineering team later on. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Engineering - Ensign Saim Enaj - 0900) "Engineering, status of the cloak, do you require time to adjust it before we go to warp?" Captain Sevant's voice boomed into engineering. "No sir, we're ready to go," Saim called back. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Bridge, Ready Room - Capt Sevant - 0900) Sevant folded his hands on the desk, "Yes Sir, the ship is functional and we are running final diagnostics to ensure the cleansing of the ship. We should be ready to leave within the next fifteen minutes. The figure on his monitor nodded his head, "Very well Captain, proceed post-haste at best speed, you are already behind." "Understood, Sir." =^=LoDona Out.=^= The monitor shifted to the Starfleet logo as the line was cut, leaving Sevant alone with Grailik. The Vulcan turned to face the officer, "Ready the ship for departure, XO." (reply: Grailik) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Bridge - Capt Sevant - 0900) "Sir, all departments report ready to depart." Sevant nodded at the speaker, "Take us out of Geneva controlled space, 152 mark 10. Full impulse." (reply: Conn) He turned in his seat to the Tactical station, "Once we go to warp, I want a constant scan of the area for tactical targets. Anything not corresponding to the 52nd fleet is to be reported at once." (reply: Tactical) Sevant nodded, and turned back in his seat. "Engage the cloak." Around him, the ships lights went dim as it entered into cloaking mode. Even with a ship like the Boudicca, the power consumption of the cloak took up a large chunk of the core's output. Not enough at impulse to justify the powered down state of the ship, but that situation would change the second they engaged to warp. The only down-side to the cloak, was the ship could only hit warp five before she started bleeding through the cloak and risking detection. Still, it was more then she had the last time he was on board, it was a system he would be putting to good use. "Engineering, status of the cloak, do you require time to adjust it before we go to warp?" (reply: Engineering) "Very well..." He looked at Grailik, "Organize a meeting in one hour, in the observation lounge, XO. You have the bridge, go to warp on these coordinates once we are out of Geneva's space." Sevant stood, looked around the bridge for a moment, then headed for the ready room. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Bridge - Capt Sevant - 0914) "Take us out of Geneva controlled space, 152 mark 10. Full impulse." "Yes sir... 152 mark 10, full impulse." replied the CONN officer. He turned in his seat to the Tactical station, "Once we go to warp, I want a constant scan of the area for tactical targets. Anything not corresponding to the 52nd fleet is to be reported at once." "Aye Sir." came the word from Lt Bush. Sevant nodded, and turned back in his seat. "Engage the cloak." Around him, the ships lights went dim as it entered into cloaking mode. "Engineering, status of the cloak, do you require time to adjust it before we go to warp?" =^=No sir, we're ready to go,=^= "Very well..." He looked at Grailik, "Organize a meeting in one hour, in the observation lounge, XO. You have the bridge, go to warp on these coordinates once we are out of Geneva's space." Sevant stood, looked around the bridge for a moment, then headed for the ready room. "Yes Sir," was the response. Sevant entered the ready room, just as Grailik was opening a channel to the Senior Officers. He nodded to himself, and made way for the desk. Beneath him, the deck-plates shifted ever so slightly, a sign that the ship had gone to warp, and that the SIF fields were probably just a tweak out of alignment. The Boudicca had always been rough and tumble, though, more dedicated to tactical systems then the warp drive. He sat, and keyed the terminal to bring up the mission details once more. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca, Bridge, Commander Grailik, 0915) Grailik sat at the Sevant's right hand as he ordered the ship out of Geneva space and on their way into the unknown. "Very well..." Sevant looked at Grailik, "Organize a meeting in one hour, in the observation lounge, XO. You have the bridge, go to warp on these coordinates once we are out of Geneva's space." Sevant stood, looked around the bridge for a moment, then headed for the ready room. "Yes Sir," Grailik said, acknowledging the coordinates Sevant gave him before moving to his Ready Room. Grailik moved to the center seat and sat down, his eyes looking around the bridge at the crew. Tapping his comm-badge, he opened a comm channel. "Commander Grailik to all Department Heads and Assistant Department Heads. There will be a mandatory meeting in the Observation Lounge in one hour. I want a complete departmental readiness and efficiency report to me in 45 minuets. Grailik out." Closing the connection Grailik turned his attention to the Con. "Con, make our heading 286 mark 47. Ahead warp 5." (Reply Con) Grailik sat comfortably in his seat as he quietly watched the ship slip smoothly into warp. The stars streaming by in multi-colors. Grailik slowly counted to 15 as the ship sped on it's way. ~Well so far so good.~ "15 seconds into our shakedown cruise and no problems yet," Grailik said with a smile, "That's a good sign. Any anomalous readings?" (Reply Any) NRPG: Assuming none or nothing major. RPG: "Good. Well this is a shakedown cruise. Lets start shaking and see what comes lose. Lets start with a little evasive maneuvers there Con." Grailik watched quietly as the Con officer put the Boudicca through her paces. The star field shifting and spinning wildly. He scowled when he felt his stomach begin to lurch and the deck seemed to drop out from under him. "Cease evasive maneuvers," He ordered sharply, opening a channel to engineering. "Grailik to engineering. The inertial dampeners are out of alignment. Get it straightened out *today*. Grailik out." (Reply Engineering if ya wish) "Resume previous course and speed," He ordered, ease back in his seat once more. (Reply Any on Bridge) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Observation Lounge - LT Shafio - 0945) Yalta arrived first and there was no one, she transfered Ops control to her padd and decided to recall everyone for the meeting, just to be safe. The Domini, Kestra, on her list, she bip them first and after the others. In five minutes they were there. Kyle took an empty seat next to Yalta and listened as Domini began to speak. "Any idea what is going on?" She asked. "We have a big mess that is what I know... Captain Sevant will tell us everything in a moment. He should arrive at any second." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Observation Lounge - ACSO Dr. Kyle Rin - 0946) Kestra had been working in sickbay ever since she left Dr Domini trying to finishe what she had done while in charge. Kestra had to make a mental note to thank domini for all the wonderful work that was done. As far as Kestra could confirm, Dr. Domini had managed to get every thing that they needed. She might not have gotten all of it put away, but, at least they had everything. Kestra knew that even more would have been put away if it hadnt been for the nanite infestation she had to deal with. That alone was enough to wear someone down on her first day on the job. In the two or so hours that she had been on duty in sickbay, she and her staff were not only able to put all the supplies in their proper places, but, even to see a few patients. She had just arrived in her office to accomplish a departmental report of their status when she recieved a message from the bridge that there would be a meeting of all departmental heads and assistants. It would be held in the observation lounge around the 1000 hours time frame, which, meant she need to finish in a hurry. Shortly, as she was finishing up her report, there was a beep from Lt. Yalta Schafio, the OPS Officer. Kestra smiled thinking that maybe the OPS officer was just trying to be efficient on her second day aboard. In any case, Kestra decided to hurry up and not let her down in front of her new bosses. Kestra had arrived not long before Domini and a few others did then took a sit where she had seen other second officers had sat. It was on the other side of the First Officer which meant on the left side of the Captain. Kestra watched as Domini came in just minutes before the start of the meeting with a few officers in tow. "Saim, Rin, this is Lt. Yalta Schafio, our Ops officer. And Saim this Lt. Cmdr Kestra Troi, our CMO. Yalta, Kestra, this is Dr. Kyle Rin, one of the scientists and Ensign Saim Enaj, an Engineering Officer." Domini finished her introductions, then sat down next to Kestra. "Dr. Rin, nice to see you again" Kestra greeted him with a smile. Kyle gave a smile in Kestra's direction and nodded. "Nice to see you again too." "Pleased to meet you," Saim held out her hand to Kestra and Yalta and then took a seat next to Kyle. Kestra happily took her hand that was offered. "Nice to meet you Ensign Saim Enaj" (reply Saim, any) Kyle took an empty seat next to Yalta and listened as Domini began to speak. "Any idea what is going on?" Domini asked. "I have a feeling that we will find out just what the state of affairs that we are in." Kestra replied with shrug of her shoulders, "What do you think Lt. Schafio, you work on the bridge maybe you have heard something." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Observation Lounge - CMO/2O Lt.Cmdr Kestra Troi - 0946) Kestra had been working in sickbay ever since she left Dr Domini trying to finishe what she had done while in charge. (reply Kyle, any) "Pleased to meet you," Saim held out her hand to Kestra and Yalta and then took a seat next to Kyle. Schafio, you work on the bridge maybe you have heard something." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Observation Lounge - ACSO Dr. Kyle Rin - 0950) Kyle took an empty seat next to Yalta and listened as Domini began to speak. Other then that... your guess is just has good as mine are. I know that Admiral LoDona talk to the captain and that's it. We will know soon enough once the Captain gets in. What would you say, later today to have diner together?" "Sounds good to me." Kyle replied in a low voice. "Ten Forward... what do you think?" Kyle watched as everyone agreed on the location. "Great so around 1145 and 1200 then." Quietly sighing as that no-one else heard him Kyle thought for a second to himself. ~Dinner?, sounds good but... i think i'm going to spend time somewhere else.~ Kyle watched as everyone agreed, then the captain walked in. He stepped forward to the head of the table, and sat quietly. "Good morning," he said, just loud enough to be heard through the room. Kyle nodded in the captain's direction and listened as he began the briefing. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Observation Lounge - OPS Lt. "So," He said putting down his mug, "are we all getting well acquainted?" He smiled warmly. "Helps to know those you will be working with." Kyle's only response to Grailik's question was reaching into his lab coat and pulling out a PADD containing information on the department readiness and efficiency of the science section. (reply Grailik if you want) The doors to the lounge whooshed openly suddenly and in walked the MCO the MXO right behind her. Eva scanned the room with a cold glare before moving to a seat opposite Grailik. She nodded a curt greeting to the junior officers and ignored Grailik completely. Drizzit took a seat on her right side. Tossing her PADD rudely onto the table top, Eva leaned back and waited for the meeting to start. This meeting had just ruined her entire training schedule for the day, this along with Grailik need for a departmental readiness and efficiency report had put her in a very bad mood. Sevant walked into the doors, just in time to see a redhead sit in a seat and toss a PADD onto the table. Beside her, an Andorian nodded to everyone at the table, and sat down silently. Sevant took a step to the side, so he could see everyone in the room. Nearly everyone was there, but not yet everyone. "Good morning!" Yalta said. ~I wonder what will drop on us next.~ The meeting started with business. "Several of you have had the opportunity to interact, most especially yesterday with the Nanite situation. I would have preferred a chance for the Senior Staff to integrate, and learn each other, but we simply don't have the time. A simple name and position will have to suffice, for the time being." He looked around, "I am Captain Caladryll Sevant, CO. Most all of you reported in to me, but for those who didn't..." he cast a glance at both the Marines, he hadn't had a chance to meet either yet. He looked to his First Officer, and nodded. Yalta presented herself like all the others and after it was time for the other reason of this meeting. "Our orders are simple," he began. "We have duel objectives." He pushed back in the seat, and half turned. "We are the rear guard for Starbase Geneva and her move. She will never be more vulnerable then she is now, surrounded by tugs and rigged for moving." Sevant took a breath, and looked back at the assembled group. "There is no known vessels coming to stop the station, however, and that is almost a cause for concern. We have seen not hide nor hair from Doenitz's fleets, which is worrisome. Intel from Sol indicates that the fleet yards are working overtime retrofitting combat vessels. Yet, we have seen no ships in the area, not even a fast scout." He paused, "We are to proceed under cloak, and patrol the former perimeter of the fleets operational zone. Intel gathering. We are to use the time to shakedown our systems, as well. We are not to engage unless forced too." He looked around, "Questions, comments?" Comments did came from which could be simply put as the spirit of the crew and well being, and the things to be done around the ship. Major Straton seem to have left an impact amoung the members of the meetings. Training was good to be a well oil machine working for the same goal, but there was also over working the machine which could make the system run dry at the end but that is something that Yalta wouldn't say out loud. It was time for her to talk. "I will have to verify the entire communication system. Install the new encryption system and also another communication system, more basic but effective in case the first one fails. I have also the inventory of everything we have, and what we need to get in the next month, not everything has arrived here. All department schedules has been organised and this is the work list of everything that need to be done in the next weeks by order of importance. I had finish this an hour ago, and I send a copy to Commander Grailik and you, Captain Sevant. Has for the mission, I don't have any questions." Yalta look at everyone with a shy smile on her face before she return her gaze to the captain. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Observation Lounge - COUNS Dr. Domini Alizara- 1005) "I think we should begin with a quick introduction," he began. "Several of you have had the opportunity to interact, most especially yesterday with the Nanite situation. I would have preferred a chance for the Senior Staff to integrate, and learn each other, but we simply don't have the time. A simple name and position will have to suffice, for the time being." "I am Captain Caladryll Sevant, CO. Most all of you reported in to me, but for those who didn't..." (nrpg: FO Grailik, then 2O Kestra then everyone else :-) rpg: "Dr. Kyle Rin ACSO" Kyle replied in a stern voice. "Dr. Domini Alizara, COUNS." Domini spoke softly with a smile, looking around the table and catching the eye of most of the people there. After everyone spoke, Sevant began to give the orders. "Our orders are simple," he began. "We have duel objectives." Domini nodded, unsurprised. "There is no known vessels coming to stop the station, however, and that is almost a cause for concern. We have seen not hide nor hair from Doenitz's fleets, which is worrisome. Intel from Sol indicates that the fleet yards are working overtime retrofitting combat vessels. We are to use the time to shakedown our systems, as well. We are not to engage unless forced too." He looked around, "Questions, comments?" "Captain, i will need to recalibrate the sensors to match the cloaking freqency so return data transmissions are not distorted." Kyle focused his attention on the captain with his concern. "Otherwise a distortion from the sensors could cause problems with the cloaking device and give away are position." Kyle finished informing the captain of the situation and waited for his reply. Domini frowned and spoke almost after Dr. Rin. "Sir, with this move to another quadrant, how much contact will the crew have with their homeworlds and relatives? Will they be able to send messages home? What about shore leave for those that need it? This new quadrant is far from here." Domini's first concern was for crew morale... the news that they would be going so far from home would definately decimate it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Observation Lounge - CO - 1005) Sevant looked at the chronometer, then back at the table. Most everyone was there, very early, he made a mental note to catch up the rest, he wanted to begin. "I think we should begin with a quick introduction," he began. "Several of you have had the opportunity to interact, most especially yesterday with the Nanite situation. He looked to his First Officer, and nodded. (reply: Grailik, all) The introductions ate a portion of the time they had remaining, Sevant felt it time to begin. He cleared his throat, and pushed a button on the table before him. Behind him, a map of the sector blinked into existence. "Our orders are simple," he began. "We have duel objectives." He pushed back in the seat, and half turned, so he could turn his head and look at the map and crew with equal ease, depending on which was required. He looked around, "Questions, comments?" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Observation Lounge -Ensign Ryko Skylynx - 1005) Ryko still had about 30 minutes before his training began, so he decided to enter the meeting and contribute what he could. he entered to see Sevant turning his attention to the MCO, and immediately holding back a frown. "The marines are currently going through intense battle training to get them whipped into a coherent fighting force. Being a newly formed company, many are unfamiliar with each other. Many more have never seen actual combat. Spider and I are working the 'hell deck' around the clock to get them into fighting shape." She nodded at the MXO, who gazed impassively back. Then, she turned her attention to Sevant and the Ryko, who was present while Lt Bush was indisposed preparing for the training session on Holodeck 1. "We are drilling on repelling boarders as well as capturing enemy vessels. I want to involve the ships security forces in our training as well. If the ship is boarded by hostile forces we will be working together to retake the ship. Better if our people were acquainted with each other before hand." Ryko nodded. "If I may sir, I am unsure about the involvement of the rest of Security as that is not my Juristiction. However, I have recently completed a report of possible upgrades and Defence measures against a boarding party. These have been verified by ensign Enaj. (Reply Enaj, if desired) Lt Bush is currently reviewing them. I would be happy to arrange that you will see them also." (Reply Sevant, Spider) "Also I am training to use the Holographic Tactical Interface at the moment, so I will be able to assume command if Lt Bush is incapacitated or needed elsewhere. (Reply any) Ryko relaxed and requested permision to leave. His training was due to begin. "I will be departing now, sirs. I hope I have not overstepped my bounds." He turned and left the observation lounge, and headed towards Lt Bush's station. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Observation Lounge - Capt Sevant - 1005) "I am Captain Caladryll Sevant, CO. Most all of you reported in to me, but for those who didn't..." he gestured to the First Officer. "Commander Grailik, First Officer," Grailik said pleasantly, lifting his mug of coffee toward the crew in silent toast before taking a sip. "Dr. Kestra Troi, Chief Medical Officer and Second Officer." the CMO said after Grailik. "Dr. Kyle Rin ACSO" Kyle replied in a stern voice. "Dr. Domini Alizara, COUNS." replied the Counselor. "Ensign Saim Enaj, ACEO" said the Engineer. "Major Straton, Marine Commanding Officer," the Marine said, in an unpleasant voice. Spider inclined his head slightly, "Major Drizzt, Marine Executive Officer." he intoned, shortly. After everyone spoke, Sevant began to give the orders. Once he was completed, he said "Questions, comments?" "Captain, I will need to recalibrate the sensors to match the cloaking frequency so return data transmissions are not distorted." began the ACSO, "Otherwise a distortion from the sensors could cause problems with the cloaking device and give away are position." Sevant nodded, "See to it." "Sir, with this move to another quadrant, how much contact will the crew have with their home worlds and relatives? Will they be able to send messages home? What about shore leave for those that need it? This new quadrant is far from here." said the Counselor immediately afterwards. The CMO had concerns to add, and said, "In the same light as the Counselor's concern, we have enough medical supplies that will last for a while. I do know that Starbase Geneva has some supplies that they might be able to share, but, how are we going to resupply the medical stores? Have we set up trade negotiations with other species just in case we can not restock from headquarters?" "Other than that, Sickbays are ready for any action that might come about." Sevant folded his hands together, and turned his head to face Siam, who also had a comment before he could speak. "Engineering is ready to go though of course I would love to have more time but I understand needs must." "If I may," Grailik said, looking at Sevant seeking his permission to speak. Sevant nodded his permission silently. "As for communications home, being a former counselor myself, I've discussed the matter with Admiral LoDona. Every effort will be made to maintain communications with the general public, of course certain security issues must be addressed. Other than perhaps a slow down of in coming and out going communications, there should be no other disruption to communications home. Both sides want to keep this little uprising as quite as possible. Disrupting communications is a quick way to draw attention to it. "Now, as for the matter of medical supplies. The Admiral and his staff are looking into new sources of supplies. As a general standing order all ships in the fleet are to keep their eyes and ears open for any possible alternate sources." Sevant waved to Grailik, "The odds of a large fleet action are unlikely, not if this is going to be kept quiet at home. By the same standard, I find it unlikely that communication would be blocked. Know that every message we send *will* be intercepted and read, for intelligence purposes. We will have to engage in subspace masking, and I will have to insist that any message we send does not contain any notes of our location or what we are doing. We are operating under full wartime procedures here, with an extra twist. Starfleet Intel is very good at it's job, we must be that much more careful." Sevant turned his attention to the MCO, and immediately found himself holding back a frown. I want to involve the ships security forces in our training as well. If the ship is boarded by hostile forces we will be working together to retake the ship. Better if our people were acquainted with each other before hand." Her gaze then shifted to the CMO. "Also need to get the 192 marines on board into sickbay for a complete physical. Don't want my people falling over in combat due to some unseen ailment." Spider met her gaze, and quirked an eyebrow ever so slightly in unspoken body language. He doubted her blundness would have a good effect, though he probably would have said as much or more himself. "I would hope that the Admiral, in his infinite wisdom, made sure that he assigned Marines that could chew gum and walk at the same time. I understand that they may have not worked together and will need time to acquaint themselves to each others movements, but, from what I have heard and read, you will have them doing the tap dance in time before we leave Geneva." Kestra gave her a smile, "As for the physicals, just send them a few at a time. My staff and I will get them done as fast as we can. I will assure you that they get precedence. Also, will you be setting the example and be the first to come in?" The MXO leaned forward, "Doctor, Marines are highly trained, but they still have to know each other and how everyone works in order to function as a highly oiled unit, you can't just throw them together and expect miracles. Miracles are exactly what we are going to need, if this little party of a rebellion is to succeed." (reply: any) The Operations officer was the next to speak up. "I will have to verify the entire communication system. Install the new encryption system and also another communication system, more basic but effective in case the first one fails. She could see that he could turn his head to look at the map and crew with equal ease, depending on whichever was required. Sevant started to speak, "We are the rear guard for Starbase Geneva and her move. She will never be more vulnerable then she is now, surrounded by tugs and rigged for moving." Sevant took a breath, and looked back at the assembled group then outlined the dual mission. He also gave some reasons behind them, which, was the same concerns that Kestra had at the moment, where was all the opposition fleets. After Sevant finished he looked around, "Questions, comments?" "Captain, I will need to recalibrate the sensors to match the cloaking frequency so return data transmissions are not distorted." Kyle focused his attention on the captain with his concern. "Otherwise a distortion from the sensors could cause problems with the cloaking device and give away are position." Kyle finished informing the captain of the situation and waited for his reply. Domini frowned and spoke almost after Dr. Rin. "Sir, with this move to another quadrant, how much contact will the crew have with their home worlds and relatives? Will they be able to send messages home? What about shore leave for those that need it? This new quadrant is far from here." Kestra knew where Domini was heading, to her credit, her first concern was for crew morale. Kestra knew as well, from her days as Counselor, that the news that they would be going so far from home would definitely decimate it. (Reply: Sevant) "In the same light as the Counselor's concern, we have enough medical supplies that will last for a while. I do know that Starbase Geneva has some supplies that they might be able to share, but, how are we going to resupply the medical stores? Have we set up trade negotiations with other species just in case we can not restock from headquarters?" Kestra knew that she was probably just stating the obvious with her questions. "Other than that, Sickbays are ready for any action that might come about." Kestra finished. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Observation Lounge - Ensign Saim Enaj - 1030) He looked around, "I am Captain Caladryll Sevant, CO. (reply: Grailik, all) "Dr. Kestra Troi, Chief Medical Officer and Second Officer." Kestra stated after Grailik had introduced himself. She looked around to see the faces of all the members present. "Dr. Kyle Rin ACSO" Kyle replied in a stern voice. "Dr. Domini Alizara, COUNS." Domini spoke softly with a smile, looking around the table and catching the eye of most of the people there. "Ensign Saim Enaj, ACEO" Saim said to the crowd seated. (reply: others in the room) Kestra listened as everyone introduce themselves and where they worked. She wanted to try and commit them to mind as she will have to see each one for a medical evaluation. Then she turned her attention to Sevant as he was about to inform them of their mission objectives. Sevant cleared his throat, which had the effect of bringing silence, then he pushed a button on the table before him. Behind him, a map of the sector blinked into existence. Most all of you reported in to me, but for those who didn't..." he cast a glance at both the Marines, he hadn't had a chance to meet either yet. He looked to his First Officer, and nodded. "Commander Grailik, First Officer," Grailik said pleasantly, lifting his mug of coffee toward the crew in silent toast before taking a sip. He already knew everyone's name and position, so he simply watched how they interacted with each other and their general attitudes. Eva's scowled remained as the introductions moved around the room. When it came her turn she swept everyone with an icy glare before speaking. "Major Straton, Marine Commanding Officer," She said, unpleasantly. Grailik frowned and shook his head disapprovingly of Eva's belligerent attitude. He turned a hard glare in her direction which she ignored, having never yet looked at him directly. Grailik made a note to talk with her privately at a latter time. Sevant moved on with the briefing, informing everyone of their orders. Grailik listened still quietly watching the crew and Sevant. Then questions of crew morale and medical supplies were brought up. "If I may," Grailik said, looking at Sevant seeking his permission to speak. (Reply Sevant) NRPG: Assuming Sevant lets Grailik speak. : ) RPG: "As for communications home, being a former counselor myself, I've discussed the matter with Admiral LoDona. As a general standing order all ships in the fleet are to keep their eyes and ears open for any possible alternate sources." Grailik said, nodding toward Sevant indicating that he was finished. (Reply Sevant) "Engineering is ready to go though of course I would love to have more time but I understand needs must."stated Saim. Eva spoke up next her voice cold and unfriendly. "The marines are currently going through intense battle training to get them whipped into a coherent fighting force. Being a newly formed company, many are unfamiliar with each other. Many more have never seen actual combat. Spider and I are working the 'hell deck' around the clock to get them into fighting shape." Eva nodded toward her XO. Her gaze then shifting to Sevant and then Security Chief Bush. "We are drilling on repelling boarders as well as capturing enemy vessels. I want to involve the ships security forces in our training as well. If the ship is boarded by hostile forces we will be working together to retake the ship. Better if our people were acquainted with each other before hand." Her gaze then shifted to the CMO. "Also need to get the 192 marines on board into sickbay for a complete physical. Don't want my people falling over in combat due to some unseen ailment." Finally falling silent, Eva let her cold gaze move across the room once more before leaning back in her chair. Her eyes moving over to meet Spiders. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca, Observation Lounge, CMO/2O Lt Cmdr Kestra Tro, 1035) Kestra watched as the Marine Commanding Officer level her cold gaze on her as she said, "Also need to get the 192 marines on board into sickbay for a complete physical. Don't want my people falling over in combat due to some unseen ailment." Kestra could not let it go and had to reply to the MCO, "I would hope that the Admiral, in his infinite wisdom, made sure that he assigned Marines that could chew gum and walk at the same time. Also, will you be setting the example and be the first to come in?" Kestra understood that she probably did not make friends with the MCO, but, she also thought that maybe the Major would react favorably to strength not weakness. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca, Observation Lounge, FO Commander Grailik & MCO Major Straton & CO Sevant, 1035) The MXO leaned forward, "Doctor, Marines are highly trained, but they still have to know each other and how everyone works in order to function as a highly oiled unit, you can't just throw them together and expect miracles. Miracles are exactly what we are going to need, if this little party of a rebellion is to succeed." "Exactly," Eva said, her cold gazed locked on the CMO, "Not being a Marine I wouldn't expect you to understand THAT doctor. Don't tell me how to handle my people and I won't tell you how to handle yours, and ALL marines will be submitting to a physical. Myself and Major Drizzt included. We lead by example, Doctor." Grailik was ready to cut Eva off before she got started, but noticed the frown on Sevant's face. He decided to stay quiet and let the Captain handle Eva. Eva could be quite trying, he knew only too well. She would be a good test of Sevant's command presence, something Robert was interested in knowing more about. Sevant leaned forward, "Major, curb your tongue." he said evenly, "we are not your target." He waited until her attention had been turned to him, then said "The Doctor and I just got out of a combat zone, and we have been in many others together, she understands as well as you or I what battle-hardened units require in terms of training and camaraderie." He quirked an eyebrow, "There is also a well known proverb, that you don't dump on friends and the hand that feeds you. Making enemies among your own allies is a sure way to disaster." Eva snorted. "With all due respect, SIR. The Doctor questioned my ability and my methods. How would you react if someone, HE," and she pointed at Grailik, "openly questioned your ability to Captain this ship in front of the senior officers? Would you curb your tongue?" Grailik raised an eyebrow and quietly took a sip of his coffee. ~Figures she'd single me out.~ Sevant narrowed his eyes, ever so slightly. "She had a point, and she qualified her answer, Major. Your troops are trained, they are not raw cadets in first year at Paris." He quirked his head, slightly, He ran his words through his mind once, really quick. She may have said 'Sir', but she had meant 'Cur', and he didn't like that one bit. "I've read your record, your intelligence, methods nor fire are in doubt." he said in continuance, "You are a competent combat officer, but even an Iron Cast Marine has to have some tact, and even a Marine Commanding Officer requires allies among his or her shipmates. Sometimes, mind you -sometimes-, it is healthy to have one's methods questioned, it prevents stagnation." He looked over at his First Officer for a moment, and man he didn't know and had no reason to trust right now, then locked his gaze with the MCO again. "I don't know you, you don't know me. The only person here I know, in fact, is the doctor. That is no excuse for lack of manners, we have more then enough problems as it is without political infighting within the senior staff. We will have to learn to trust each other, our very lives will count on it. This is a battleship, Major, I think you understand the implications of that rather well; probably better then most of the officers and crew on board. I doubt you would tolerate strife within your Marine command, and I will NOT put up with it here. Everyone questions methods and motives at some time, that is to be expected, especially among the difference in cultures and people we have on board. But this is a ship of War, and I am a Wartime Captain, so the answer to your question is this:" He stopped looking directly at her, and gave a glance to everyone. "If anyone questions my command or competence, I will try to understand the source and deal with it peaceably. If the situation is not resolved and events continue that threaten the discipline of this ship, I will put my boot down so fast the perpetrator won't have time to pray to the Gods for salvation. We cannot afford inner strife, we MUST hold together as a strong and cohesive unit. I will tolerate nothing less then your personal best." The Vulcan looked back at the Marine, his gaze steady, his tone as even as it had been from the start. He wasn't angry, not yet, but even in expecting at least one sour officer, he was disturbed. "You will be commanding troopers to their death, no less then I command a ship that has a mandate to go into harms way. In our own ways, neither of us can falter, and neither of us can afford turmoil. We need all the allies we can gather, here among the crew and out there... among the stars." he waved his hand vaguely in the direction of a porthole. "Tactics will only win you a battle, Major, not a war. Its time to start thinking strategy. All strategy requires trust, in some measure. It is no easier for me, then it will be for you." He gave one more glance to the First Officer, and nodded slightly before looking at Straton. "Yet we must, if we are to live, much less succeed." The room was deadly quiet for several long seconds, Eva and Sevant's eyes locked. A seeming test of wills in progress. Then suddenly one corner of Eva's mouth curved upwards into a half smile. She inclined her head slightly in Sevant's direction. "Well said Captain," She said, her voice far warmer than it had been. "And very true indeed." She looked over at Drizzt and nodded, then looked back at Sevant and smiled a knowing smile. Crossing her arms across her chest, she leaned back in her chair and looked around the room once more at the gathered officers. Grailik said, nodding toward Sevant indicating that he was finished. Domini looked at Grailik in a new light after he spoke. He knew. Well he said that he was a Counsellor, but that didn't necessarily make him a good one in his time. She nodded toward him, hoping that he could know how grateful she was that this detail had already been attended to. The MCO was.... well she was cold and unfriendly. She wasn't at all like some of the other MCOs that Domini had met and she certainly didn't act like other Betazoids. Even Betazoids that were Peace-Keepers or the security force of Betazed. And she looked NOTHING like a Betazoid, either. Domini realized that she was staring at this red headed Eva too hard when Eva met her eyes. Domini blushed, and tightened down her shields another notch. Domini was very glad that there were as many telepaths aboard as there were. In a crises it would facilitate communications if and when the communications aboard ship went down. Domini realized that she would have to take a moment to go and speak with the MCO to 'get the measure of her mind' and vice-versa. It wasn't something that Domini looked forward to. Domini knew that she wasn't exactly the most coordinated person in the Fleet and she was mortally afraid that the MCO would see that immediately and shout her out of the office as a klutz. Domini then retuned into the meeting which she had been listening to with half of her mind, the rest thinking about people and things. She had an awful habit of getting distracted easily, especially at times that weren't crises. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca, Observation Lounge, CMO/2O Lt. Commander Kestra Trio, 1040) "Doctor, Marines are highly trained, but they still have to know each other and how everyone works in order to function as a highly oiled unit, you can't just throw them together and expect miracles. Miracles are exactly what we are going to need, if this little party of a rebellion is to succeed." Kestra heard the MXO, Major Drizzt, say as he leaned forward to be as close into her face as he could have been. Kestra thought that maybe he was trying to intimidate her, but, she had been intimidated by worse and better already. Kestra was going to explain to him that what she had said was not meant as an insult but a compliment when the MCO, Major Straton, chimed in. "Exactly,"The Major intertwined, with her cold gazed locked on the CMO, "Not being a Marine I wouldn't expect you to understand THAT doctor. Don't tell me how to handle my people and I won't tell you how to handle yours, and ALL marines will be submitting to a physical. Myself and Major Drizzt included. We lead by example, Doctor." Kestra had thought that the Major would have understood her intent as she was Betazoid also. Given as it may, Kestra was about to answer when Sevant took over and she sat there to listen to what he said and how he handled the situation. Kestra had heard Sevant handle different situations and had been on some of the receiving ends of a few of his handling. She knew that Sevant had always entered into the situations with a calm and logical mind no matter what. She would not be surprised that he also did in this situation, it was that she felt bad that she had been the instigator of this one. Kestra could not understand why the Major thought that she had questioned her ability or methods, she actually was complimenting her. Kestra started to catch also that she had no love for the First Officer, Commander Grailik. Kestra thought that maybe the Major would benefit having some time with the counselor, Lieutenant Alizara, to discuss her deep seated problems with the FO. Kestra continued to listen to the tirade that the Major was on with Sevant. Kestra listened to probably the best of Sevant that she had ever heard. She then began to wish she had a copy of everything that Sevant had ever said so she could present him with a 'best of Sevant' recording. Everything he said was, undoubtedly, quickly thought upon before he said it and what pleased her was that he defended her. His defense was not because of what he felt about her, as that never enter into his logical thinking, but that she was of course correct, as he explained. What had surprised her was when he said that she was the only person here that he in fact knew. It occurred to her that he had paid more attention to her than she had ever thought. In fact that he knew her meant that he actually trusted in what she would do. In the same manner it was Sevant that she trusted on the entire ship but she had to find a way to trust all the other officers as LoDona did not put them on the same ship if he did not expect everyone to get along. Kestra thought to herself that she was going to have to watch herself and make an extra effort to pay attention to what she tells people. Finally, after a bit from Sevant, the Major gave in accepting what had been said with a voice far warmer than she had. She finally leaned back in her chair and looked around the room once more. The meeting then continued. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (Boudicca - Observation Lounge - Sevant - 1045) "Anyone else?" Sevant looked around, to see if anyone else had anything they wanted to say. (reply: any) The Captain nodded, "Then this meeting is over. I want departmental readiness reports within the hour, and gear all repairs to offensive and defensive systems, we might need them." He stood, "Dismissed." (reply: all) "Walk with me, Commander." he said to Grailik. (reply: Grailik) Sevant waited for everyone to file out of the room, then put his hands behind his back and walked out himself. He waited until everyone was out of immediate listening range, and said "Thoughts on our newly gathered crew, or anything else in particular?" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Observation Lounge - 2O/CMO Kestra Troi - 1046) "Then this meeting is over. I want departmental readiness reports within the hour, and gear all repairs to offensive and defensive systems, we might need them." Sevant then stood looking at everyone, "Dismissed." Kestra had actually given her report to him in the meeting and knew that nothing had changed since the meeting. She thought that she should get in on the physicals that her staff was doing at the moment when she remembered that there had been an invitation for dinner. Yalta had suggested the get together and most of the crew that was there had affirmed they would be there. She wanted to get to know more of the crew than just their medical files. She decided that she had enough time to check in with her staff to make sure all was satisfactory. Even though they were heading on their first mission, they still had a little time to take care of personal business, such as making sure that personal belongings had made it to their quarters. She would ensure that her staff would take turns completing that. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Observation Lounge - ACSO Kyle Rin - 1046) "Then this meeting is over. Kyle pushed away from the table and stood up making his way out of the Lounge with his hands behind his back he headed for a turbolift to his quarters. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca, Observation Lounge, Captain Sevant & Commander Grailik, 10:47) "Walk with me, Commander." Sevant said to Grailik. "Of course, Captain." Grailik said, putting his now empty mug in the recycler. He watched as everyone else left and took up position on Sevant's right hand side. He followed Sevant out of the lounge heading down the hallway till everyone was completely out of listening range. "Thoughts on our newly gathered crew, or anything else in particular?" Sevant asked suddenly. "All in all, not a bad crew. A little lacking in experience, but that will come in time. They seem eager and dedicated, that will serve them in good stead in the trails ahead. Although, I must say, you handled Major Straton quite well. I know all too well how difficult she can be at times. Most likely, she was testing you and the other senior officers. You seemed to have passed her test," Grailik answered, walking casually at Sevants side. Looking at Sevant from time to time. "She did have one good point, and it means more to us then just to the Marines. We need training, badly." Sevant said as they stepped into a turbolift. "Engineering," Sevant called out. He turned to face the First Officer, "I have a feeling this won't be an isolated thing, very few of us know the other." "True," Grailik conceded, "But many of the senior officers have already begun the 'getting to know each other' stage. They were arranging to get together latter in 10 Forward latter to have lunch together. That's a good sign. They need to get to know each other outside of work as well as at work, and our presence would most likely hinder that process. Serving as a reminder of work. Best they do this on their own. They will approach us when they feel comfortable doing so. Though it is very probable, things the way they are, that this crew will be forged in fire. I doubt we will have much time for the 'get to know each other stage'." Sevant nodded, almost sadly. "I have a feeling you're right." The turbolift stopped, and the doors opened to main engineering. Sevant took a step inside, and noticed that everything was still at a quick pace, to ready the ship after its rushed refit. "Both ship and crew would have done well to have another month, but that's time we just don't have anymore. We had best get down to the battle drills, we enter our area of patrol by this time tomorrow." Grailik nodded. "I agree. I already have a preliminary schedule drawn up." He handed Sevant the PADD he always seemed to be carrying. Grailik was silent for a moment, thinking. "One thing that does bother me slightly, Sir. I'm not sure how well the crew is accepting me as First Officer. It's fairly well known that I was a last minute placement and that I had previously served on the Admirals personal staff. Feels like I am an outsider and not a real member of the crew. In time, I'm hoping that will change, but just wanted to make you aware of it." Sevant almost chuckled, "We are all of us outsiders, Commander, this whole crew was thrown together at the last minute." He scrolled the PADD real quick, then handed it back. "I won't say you would have been my first choice, but I never expected this command and didn't have a pre-selected individual. The only thing I find, mmmm, odd, is that we have three counselors on board, and you are one of them." He gave a look to Grailik, "I would like to think this is coincidence." Grailik's brow rose in surprise. "What wrong with that?" He asked honestly, "Surely your not afraid of counselors. I would think that a great asset. To have 3 trained and qualified people to keep a tab on the crews mental health. I'm also a fully trained and qualified medical doctor and surgeon. That doesn't bother you does it? Is not mental health just as important as physical health?" Grailik smiled. "Of course, I'm not here in a counseling capacity, but I can't just ignore all my training and experience. I'm here as your First Officer. Which is the role I intend to fill. If my presence makes you uncomfortable you could of always requested someone else as First Officer." Sevant quirked an eyebrow, ever so slightly. "My recent record is not a secret, so my noticing all the counselors on board is not a surprise. Afraid of Counselors, no. Wary of them, very much so." He put his arms behind his back, and started walking slowly along the outer edge of engineering, careful to stay out of the Engineers way. "In this case, once I had thought about it for a few minutes, I was not disturbed by so many trained counselors aboard, this is a combat ship and the Counseling profession will become very handy. In fact, every medical officer we can get will be welcome." He went silent for a few moments, "Even so, being a counselor yourself, wouldn't you find it odd in my position to see so many Counselors in one place, if you had been under the Counselors eyes for so long?" "First off Captain," Grailik began, "your record is NOT common knowledge. There are regulations about patient/Counselor confidentiality not to mention rules of ethics. The murder of your family is not so secret, true. Anyone researching your past will notice that. However it's not advertised either. Not even Admiral LoDona has full access to your medical records dealing the counseling you under went after the death of your family. As for being under the Counselors eyes for so long, I lost my entire family to the Borg. I know all too well what it's like to lose those you love most. And, I can honestly say any amount of time you were under the 'Counselors eyes' pales in comparison to mine. That's what got me into counseling myself. The loss of my family. If I were you, I'd be relived to have a choice of who to talk to if you need to." Sevant nodded his head at the rebuke, but kept on walking. "Then, onto more mundane matters. How would you rate our chances in a couple days, should we run into problems, and what areas would you have worked at the hardest in the mean time?" Grailik though for a few seconds before answering. "In a couple days, with extensive combat drills for all departments, we'll still be ironing out any problems. I would prefer a week or two. A live test of the ships weapons would be a good idea as well. Don't want to be in the middle of a fire fight and find out that one of the power transfer conduits is blown out. In normal circumstances, I'd say focus on sensors and propulsion. Things are far from normal, however. Defensive systems will have to receive priority along with propulsion." Sevant nodded at that, "We can pull out of the River on the midnight shift, we will still be far enough away that phasers and photon torpedoes won't give us away. If we wait much longer then that, we make ourselves targets." He stopped beside the Warp Core, and looked up. "This ship was never fast, outrunning a target has never been one of her design specs, though she has gotten upgrades to the core and engines. I am tempted to put the cloaking device over propulsion, on the hope we can hide rather then run." He looked back over at the First Officer, "How have the cloaking tests gone, can the cloaking field be tightened? This ship has an odd design, I'm surprised the opted to put a cloaking device on her at all." Grailik smiled. "It's never good to be a sitting duck, sir. Actually, they modified the cloak to fit her. This cloak generator was built for this class ship alone. Won't work in another class ship. There are other cloaks in the fleet sure, but only Keltoi class get this specific cloaking generator. There is some room to play with the field. I'll have to discuss it with the CEO though. You know how they are about their engines." "Mmmm, the same way I was about my weapons and defensive systems." said Sevant, "The mark of a professional, or so I'm told." He nodded briefly, "Well, have a talk with Engineering and see what they can get done in two days." Grailik nodded, his smile firmly in place. "Of course. And what shall we do with the marines? I would also like to run some triage drills for medical. When we do get into a fight we will have wounded. I want to make sure that sickbay is ready to handle combat injuries." "Hmmm. With respect to Stratons schedule, they need to train with Security as well. Lets throw both departments into an anti-boarding drill, in the dead of morning. And lets have the Marine medics get in touch with Sickbay." He folded his arms. "The sooner we make this ship into a viable warship, the better." "Agreed," Grailik said, "Lets make it a surprise drill. Major Straton will just love it." Grailik's smile took on a mischievous edge. Sevant snorted, "Oh, no doubt. Lets make it for 0200 or so, we can come out of the river at the same time to add some realism, and do weapons tests. Lets get some enemies programmed into the computer, and give Tactical a go at the same time." "I can handle that," Grailik said, nodding. "They won't even know it's a drill till we decide to tell them. We might as well make it a ship wide drill. We can monitor response times and see what areas need the most work. That sound acceptable?" "Perfect." came Sevant's response. "Make it so, XO." "Anything else?" Grailik asked, chuckling slightly. He had a good idea how the good Major would react to this little surprise. Sevant looked over the core once more, then turned his attention to the officers and crew in engineering, the -young- officers and crew. "For those so minded, a prayer might be in order." he mumbled, almost to himself. "That will be all," he said louder. Grailik nodded, turned and headed back the way they had come. He had some work to do before the fun started at 0200. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Rin's Quarters - ACSO Kyle Rin - 1050) Kyle sat down at his bed picking up the picture of his parents, he sat there staring for awhile wondering how they would think of him being a ACSO of a starship but he would never know considering they were dead and for some reason Kyle continued to blame himself for it. ~There won't be any dinner for me at ten-forward i'm afraid i need to get those sensors adjusted.~ Kyle rose to his feet setting down the picture and picking up his father's diary he made his way out and toward the science department to ready the sensors for what lies ahead. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca, Turbolift, Major Straton & Lt. Major Drizzt 10:50) Eva and Spider had left the meeting as they had came, together. Stepping into the lift, Eva waited for the doors to close and they were alone. "Marine deck," She said, turning to look at Spider as the lift sped off. "So, what did you think of my 'performance'?" "I wanted to slap you myself for being an uppity wench, Sir." he said deadpan. His antenna twitched slightly, "I doubt you helped our case on Boudicca, but at least it can be said that you won't be walked over." He grinned ever-so-slightly at that. Eva laughed slightly. "True, but at least we now have a better idea of where the senior officers stand. I meant to put them on their heels. See how they react to the unexpected. Worked with most of them too. Sevant didn't take the bait though. That's good at least. His little speech was sincere as well. I was able to pick that much up at least. Captain has a well shielded mind. At least he is believes in what we are doing. Things might be a little rough with some for awhile but I'm sure your shining personality will win them over in the end." Eva chuckled good naturedly. The Andorian snorted. "The troops under my command are starting to think of you as an angel, or at least a Saint." He mused for a few moments as the doors opened into the Marine section. He followed out behind his Senior Officer, but stepped up beside her while they walked. "I think we can pull it together, Major, by the deadline. None of us will be getting much sleep in the mean-time, though." "Good, then that plan is working too," Eva said, her eyes sweeping across the Marine deck. Taking in everything that was currently going on. Marines scattered around the deck doing various maintenance on all the weapons and crafts that they used in their trade. "I want to step up our time table on full company training. Think they are ready for it?" "They will blunder badly the first couple times, but nothing trains better then shame when dealing with highly trained and motivated soldiers. Professional pride, and all that." He looked over at her, "Red and Blue teams, let them fight amongst each other until they can walk in a line without tripping over each other, then each of us take a team for true maneuvers?" "I would really like to begin training with full weapon loads by the end of the week. Can't do that if they can't march together with out falling over each other yet." She sighed, moving toward her office. She turned looking out across the deck. "ALL PLATOON LEADERS IN MY OFFICER NOW!!" She yelled, motioning for Spider to step inside. She watched as the 4 platoon leaders double timed it over toward her and into her office. She stepped inside and closed the door. Moving over she sat behind her desk, looking at the 4 Lt's standing at attention in front of her desk. "So tell me again Major," She said, looking over at Spider, "The troops still don't know how to march as a unit yet?" ~Nice.~ he thought, as his antennae twitched in mild amusement. He folded his arms, "If we didn't have a war to run, I would suggest keeping them around as is for humors sake, but since we -Are- in the middle of a war..." he trailed off for a few moments, and looked at the four Section leaders from his vantage point off to the side of the MCO. "Maybe we should send the whole lot BACK to Paris Island," Eva said, a sharp edge in her voice. "Where they can learn to be REAL Marines!" She saw one of the Lt's open his mouth to speak a sharp retort. She rose her brow and looked at Spider subtlety. The MXO caught her look, and stepped forward and around the desk before the Lieutenant could say a word. The Lieutenant caught himself and stopped, when he noticed the Andorian moving. He put himself exactly one inch from the officers nose, and looked directly into his eyes. "I think you were about to say something, in fact, I'm sure of it." he said in a silky smooth tone. His eyebrow quirked ever-so-slightly. "But that wouldn't be a very intelligent thing to do at this time, not until we are done with you. It would, in fact, be cause for me to pick you up and take you before the command and kick your a$$ end up side of the Staging Center and down the other. Twice, if you thought to talk back. I trust I make myself perfectly clear?" he continued, still in quiet conversational tones, with a distinct edge of ice. Spider waited a few moments, then took a step back. "Gentlemen, you are all competent, you wouldn't be here otherwise. However..." he paused a second, "THIS IS NOT A GAME WE ARE PLAYING!" he bellowed. In a more conversational tone he added, "This is not a typical mission we are on. This is a warship, rushed through its refit to join the line. We are a combat unit, preparing in a hurry to join what could be our deaths. I want to impress that upon your minds, make no mistake, we must be ready or we will -all- die." "You will die," Eva said, casually, her gaze moving from one Lt to the next. "You will die, those under your command will die. Your friends will die. Everyone on this ship WILL die. UNLESS YOU PULL YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR A$$ AND GET YOUR TROOPS DRILLED TO WORK AS A UNIT!!" She paused, briefly, drumming her fingers on her desk. "At the end of the week we will begin full company combat training with full weapon loads. Till then each platoon will drill, drill, drill till your troops are marching as a unit in their sleep. Is that clear?" "YES SIR!" The Lt's yelled in unison. "Good," She said, her face a mask. "The Major and I will be watching, don't you doubt it. If we find you or ANY of your men not pulling together as a unit, both you and they will manually clean the waste recycling units on this entire ship. Is that clear?" "YES SIR!" "Dismissed." She watched as the everyone but Spider quickly hurried out of the office. Within seconds of leaving, She could hear the shouts on the deck as platoons here ordered to fall in. She looked at Spider. "Think we got them motivated now?" "We will see soon enough." he answered as he turned back to face her. "But I doubt any but combat veterans are going to be fully motivated and in complete understanding of the situation we are getting into, until we get into it." "Agreed," She said, her eyes still on the closed door and the sounds coming through. "Luckily, we have some battle hardened NCO's who DO know what we will be getting into. So, we don't have to do ALL the motivating. I'm sure they will be doing so as well. Out of this entire company only the CE's are actually experienced with each other under combat. Maybe we should have them work with the other platoons?" "I have them split in half right now, half is playing aggressor and the other half is working with the squads. Once the men tie to gather a bit better, Ill be using them as the full aggressors. Being killed enough will show what a fully trained, highly motivated group of killers can do when they are comfortable together." He took a moment to think, "I think it might be worth having them line up after a week, and putting the best trained unit we have verses the CE's for a battle, full theatrics. The more real we make it, the more we might shock the green and untried." Eva nodded. "Sounds like a plan. Though eventually they will need to learn to work with the CE's as well, but it's a start. Which reminds me, the paper pushers are hounding me for your initial evaluation reports, and we DO have to get everyone in for medical exams by the end of the week as well. You've been having too much fun playing." She pointed in the direction of the 'Hell deck'. "Been ignoring your paper work. I need those reports by the end of today and draw up a preliminary schedule for medical exams. Sometimes I think it would of been easier to remain just a grunt." "Easier, sure. But not nearly so much fun." he said with a lopsided, sarcastic grin. "Ill get on the paperwork. Unless there is anything else...?" "No. That's all," Eva said, returning the grin. "Your dismissed, Major." Spider snapped to quick attention, then relaxed and walked out of the office, he had paperwork to attack. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Science Department - ACSO Kyle Rin - 1100) Taking a seat at one of the science consoles Kyle began to type in the sequence for the cloaking device and applied it to the current sensor read-out according to the current status the sensors needed an adjustment of .4993 to the buffer relay he would have to make the correction at subsection six in the jefferies tube picking up a tricorder and PADD he made his way over to the access panel lifting it off he entered the tube and began the long crawl to section six. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Jefferies Tube Sec. This particular place wasn't busy at the moment, they were in well-explored space and there had been no new data to crunch for nearly a year, since the Boudicca had been tied up in refit. That would change, they would be covering the retreat of the squadron and moving into new space soon enough. In the mean time, from what Sevant saw, the science crew was concentrating on getting all their systems running and fully calibrated. Sevant shook his head slightly as he pulled away and continued his slow tour through the ship he had once known so well. This was his first bow-to-stern informal inspection, something he hadn't had a chance to do yet. He found himself musing as he walked, looking into various departments and studying things that still required repair. Memories intruded, and he heard the ghostly voices of yesteryear echoing through the same corridors and offices that he currently walked. Nothing dangerous, just memory, memories of people he would probably never see again in his lifetime, and others he couldn't see again until this life had passed. He placed his arms behind him and nodded at a blue-stripe Ensign as he walked steadily down the corridor and out of the Science Section. The last time he had walked these halls, he had been nothing more then a Lieutenant. Those days seemed so long ago, and in a way it had. Only three years had passed officially, unofficially it had been closer to twenty. The Nexus incident still wasn't in his official records, though it had been known to various members of the Nimitz's command crew. His musing was interrupted as his badge beeped. =^= Rin to Captain Sevant =^= Sevant tapped his badge out of reflex, "Sevant here." =^= I think you better get down here Sir we got somewhat of a problem =^= Sevant closed his eyes briefly, and halted in place. (reply: as desired) "Very well, Sevant out." =^= Rin out =^= He continued his walk, he had a couple small things to do. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Ten Forward - 2O/CMO Kestra Troi - 1145) It had take her a bit longer to get to Ten Forward than she had wanted to, but, she stayed long enough to let the head Nurse of A shift, Lieutenant Fala go to her quarters. Once she had returned and all was slow, Kestra had left for Ten Forward. Kestra entered Ten Forward and looked around to see if anyone had gotten there before her. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Ten Forward - 2O/CMO Kestra Troi - 1147) Kestra stood there at the door noticing that she had arrived before anyone else had. She moved to one of the window tables that had enough room for all that she thought might arrived. She looked out the window watching as the stars flew past them. She got back up, after a few moments, to walk over to the bar to order herself some hot chocolate. She had a rather found liking of chocolate where when she could she pampered herself. She walked back to her table once she had gotten the Chocolate and sat down. Again she looked out into the rushing stars. Kestra got to thinking of things on the Nimitz and what had happened before she left. Wondering if they would ever be able to look at her once again without thinking of the other one. The one that had taken so much pleasure at bringing so much pain on them in the alternate universe. She had heard the rumors of what had happened to them and she cringed at what was said. She also wondered what had happened to Susan, her friend for so many years and the one that took the most damage from the alternate doubles. The alternate Sevant had come so close to killing her, but, Susan's health and will to live was the only thing that saved her. She wanted so much to sit down and talk to Susan once again. To tell her what she had done and what has happened since then. Talk to her about her becoming Second Officer again and this time on the same ship that Susan had once commanded, the Boudicca. Kestra thought that if she knew Susan well enough, she would be happy and proud for her to be once again climbing the command tree. She and Susan had been started their Starfleet Careers at the same time on the same ship, the Nimitz. Susan had strode up the latter a bit faster than she had and it was fine as they were still friends all that time. When Susan had to leave and go to the Spectre, Kestra had been lost for a bit without her friend. Then Kestra found out what Aragorn had done and it had broken Susan's heart. Kestra knew that Aragorn had done what he had thought was in her best interest. It had gone all wrong at the Battle of Starbase 968 when Susan's dad died and she had blamed Aragorn for robbing her of the chance to say good bye. It took a while, but, Susan and Aragorn had finally come to terms with it. It had taken a its toll on them both before they had finally let each know how they felt toward it. Once they did, it made their friendship that much stronger in the long run. When Aragorn had opt to stay at the other planet, it had been rough on Susan. Susan had not shown it, but, Kestra could feel what Susan was hiding. With all this mess with Doenitz, Susan had felt a bit lost without Aragorn, but, she was up to the task. She also knew that if Doenitz had his way, Susan would have stayed or perished a long time ago. She also knew that one day Doenitz would have someone kill her. In the end it looks as though Doenitz will miss the chance to have it done. Kestra could feel a tear running down her cheek and reached up to wipe it away when she heard someone come walking up to her. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Ten Forward - Ens. Ryko Skylynx - 1147) Ryko was bored. He had free time on his hands- approximately 2 hours until he could talk to either Lt Bush or Captain Sevant. Feeling like all he was doing was obeying orders, he decided to take the opportunity to get a little down time. He looked around. There was only one person not involved in a conversation. He recognised her instantly as Kestra Troi, the Ship's second officer. He took a few breaths. ~damn, I really need to stop mingling with the hierarchy.~ He approached her, but stopped before greeting. Kestra was crying. Ryko noticed a tear running down her cheek and she reached up to wipe it away when she heard him approach. Ryko could see she was having problems. He didn't want to make things worse. For a moment, he contemplated leaving, but decided to stay. Perhaps she had suffered something similar to what he had when his brother was assimilated. "Is this seat taken?" he asked simply. (Reply Kestra) "Thanks," Ryko replied."Ensign Ryko Skylynx," he said, offering a hand in greeting. (Reply Kestra) Ryko looked at Kestra as she dried her eyes. Ryko reached into his pocket, pulling out one silver handkerchief. He offered it to her. (Reply Kestra) "Ancient Earth Tradition," Ryko explained. "Supposed to bring good luck." (reply kestra) "No, please, keep it," Ryko said. "It'll probably be of more use to you than me. I never really stuck by tradition," he said, remembering his days at Antares III and absently stroking the scar on his nose. "So, um, I don't mean to intrude, but I saw you crying. Is it anything you want to talk about?" he said, feeling more than a little uncomfortable. He had difficulty talking about Nick, he understood that Kestra would probably feel the same. But it was worth it to gain a new friend. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Ten Forward - COUNS Dr. Domini Opstal - 1152) Domini came running into Ten Forward, afraid she was late, since she had taken a few minutes to go by her quarters. She saw Kestra sitting alone at a table since no one else had shown up. "Kestra?" Domini asked, and since there was no answer she said telepathically ::Kestra?:: She laughed at the startled look on Kestra's face. "Sorry, but you were locked in thought. What's up? Need someone to talk to?" She smiled and waived the waiter away as she waited for an answer and/or the others to show up. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Ensign Ryko Skylynx - 1155) "Is this seat taken?" Kestra heard someone ask her. She turned an focused on a human male that looked very tall with black hair and blue eyes. She tried to place the name but knew by his uniform that he was part of the security team. "Not unless you take it" Kestra said with a warm smile as she watch him take a seat, "And you are who Ensign?" She asked wanting to know who she would be conversing with. "Thanks," The Ensign replied."Ensign Ryko Skylynx," Ryko replied while offering his hand in greeting. Kestra took the offered hand and they shook, "it is good to meet you Ensign Skylynx." She still had some of her tears still on her face and was a bit embarrassed so she tried to wipe them off. Ryko saw her doing that and offered her a silver handkerchief. "Thanks, memories sometimes does this to me" she replied as she used it to wipe her face. "Ancient Earth Tradition," Ryko explained. "Supposed to bring good luck." "Good luck?" she asked again, "I could use some of that for a change." Kestra said as she offered the handkerchief back to him. "No, please, keep it," Ryko said. "It'll probably be of more use to you than me. I never really stuck by tradition," he said "So, um, I don't mean to intrude, but I saw you crying. Is it anything you want to talk about?" Ryko asked her. "Well, a friend of mind, we have been friends since the Academy, is now in a coma and not sure if or when she will recover." Kestra said not really knowing why she told him other than that he looked like he also needed a friend. "A friend?" Ryko said, feeling a little squemish. He felt like he was intruding. Kestra continued, and Ryko gradually felt more comfortable. "yes we were stationed on the USS Nimitz together when she was commissioned." Kestra replied, "and it was on the USS Nimitz that the incident happened." "Incident?" Ryko said curiously. "What happened?" "I am sorry, but, I am not sure if it has been declassified yet or not, so, I can't go into details." Kestra was not sorry she had even brought the subject up as he seemed to feel like she just did not want to tell him. "It's okay, I understand," Ryko said. He did too. "Ensign could you get us some more refreshments, I could take another hot chocolate please." Kestra asked him. "Sure, I'll be right back," he said as he rose. Heading for the bar, Ryko thought about what could have happened. He immediately dismissed the thought. That was going too far. He arrived at the bar and motioned to the bartender. "One hot chocolate, and a Klarisian Refresher, please," he said. The tender returned to him with the beverages and Ryko began to head back. He spotted someone else alongside Kestra when he returned. They were engrossed in conversation. "Yes, I was waiting for Ensign Ryko to return with our beverages," Kestra replied, indicating Ryko, who was standing slightly to the officer's rear. "Ensign Ryko Skylynx, meet the ships counselor, Dr. Domini Opstal." Kestra smiled at the startled look on Domini's face. "Good to meet you, Counselor," Ryko said as he moved by. "I'd shake your hand but my hands are full." he said. "Thanks Ryko" Kestra said as she took the hot chocolate from him as he sat down. "No problem," Ryko said. He sipped at his drink and motioned for Domini to sit. "So tell me," he said. "Can we talk for a moment?" She asked very formally, trying very hard not to fidget. Sipping his green tea and focusing on the current read-out on the sensors he noticed Domini waiting for an invitation to join him even tho he was busy with the repairs to the sensors a few minutes with the counselor wouldn't hurt his work time. "Yes, please join me i'm sorry that i didn't take up the invitation to sit with all of you but i'm working on the configurations for the sensors." he replied with a smile. "What can i do for you conselor?" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca -10-Forward - COUNS Dr. Domini Opstal - 1159) "Ensign Ryko Skylynx, meet the ships counselor, Dr. Domini Opstal." "Thanks Ryko" Kestra said as she took the hot chocolate from him as he sat down. "No problem," Ryko said. He sipped at his drink and motioned for Domini to sit. "So tell me," he said. "How do you two know each other?" "It's a pleasure to meet you too, Ryko." Domini laughed. She took the seat that was offered. "Sorry about thinking you were the waiter." She giggled. "As far as how I know Kestra, we had breakfast together this morning. Which now seems a really long time away." She leaned back in her chair and looked Ryko over. "So where did you come from, Ryko?" Approaching the replicator Kyle requested green tea the cup materialized and he picked it up taking a seat over near the window he set down the cup along with his PADD report he looked over the current read-out and sipped his tea he then heard a familar voice across the room. (reply Kestra) Looking up he noticed Kestra, Domini, and Ryko sitting over near a window gathered together. "I'm fine right here thanks besides i'm waiting for the captain got a sensor report to give him." he replied. Taking a few more sips of his tea the doors slide open once more and Captain Sevant entered Kyle motioned him over and waited for his request to see the Sensor report. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Ten Forward - OPS Lt. Schafio - 1202) Yalta arrived at Ten forward after having fix a few thing that a few crewmen didn't do right and they were not sure. She really took upon herself not to snap but they certainly sense that she wasn't happy one bit. When she arrived at Ten Forward she saw that people were talking together and they were starting to relax. She decided to get in the nerve of things even if her shy side decided to shine through her face. "Sorry if I'm late, there was something needed my own personal touchs. So what are we eating today?" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Ten-Forward - COUNS Domini Alizara - 1203) "I wouldn't much worry about my condition i'm fine never better." Kyle paused for a second his smile turned to a frown as he continued. "It's something i can't hide and you know it you've read my thoughts just like i've read yours." Looking at Domini's face Kyle noticed a sudden surprise as she began to speak. "Read my thoughts..." Her voice trailed off. She normally kept herself shielded from the general telepathic dribble on the starship, but not against other telepaths. In fact she kept herself rather open. "How?" She asked, blushing. Kyle's frown turned to a smile as he continued. "My mother was half-betazed but i was sworn to keep it a secret. From her i learned how to control my small but important power that has been passed from betazed and so on. Please don't tell anyone about it." Reaching out Kyle took hold of Domini's hands and continued. "My health hasn't been the same since my parents death, i suffer greatly from it. I also blame myself for not saving them when i feel i could have. The journal i carry is the last thing i have of my parents it contains something my father told me to keep secret and give to the right person in starfleet. What that thing is i have no clue but he said it could change the way starfleet travels." Kyle slid the PADD across the table in Domini's direction. "Could you see the captain gets this?" Domini nodded. A quarter betazoid that could read her thoughts. What a rare find. "Of course I won't tell anyone, but...." She spoke in shock. Kyle stood up from the table picking his cup up he took it to the bar and handed it to the bartender. "Green tea is excellent today." he said turning to leave he used his telepathic power ::I'll see you later Domini in your office i may just need that talk:: the doors closed behind Kyle. Domini got up in shock and wandered back over to the table to see Yalta there. "Hi Yalta." She spoke, setting down her PADD. "How are you today?" She spoke, blinking rapidly and then turned to Kestra. "Who else is supposed to show up?" She asked, smiling. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Ten-Forward - ACSO Kyle Rin - 1203) Domini turned around when Kestra called out to Rin. After he had said he wouldn't join them, Domini got up. "Excuse me for a moment." She grinned in reassurance and went over to Rin's table. "Mr. Rin?" She asked, indicating the seat. "Can we talk for a moment?" She asked very formally, trying very hard not to fidget. Setting down his cup of tea he continued. "What can i do for you conselor?" Domini took the proferred seat and smiled at Rin. "Are you feeling well?" She asked softly. "You seem scared of me for some reason. And I've noticed how you carry around that journal. Do you want to talk about it? Not here, of course, but in my office later?" Domini asked very carefully, because with the way he clutched that journal he NEEDED to talk about it to someone. Kyle seemed puzzled at the current questions he had just been asked. Finishing the rest of his tea he set the down the cup one last time looked into Domini's eyes and replied in a low voice. "I wouldn't much worry about my condition i'm fine never better." Kyle paused for a second his smile turned to a frown as he continued. "It's something i can't hide and you know it you've read my thoughts just like i've read yours." "Green tea is excellent today." he said turning to leave he used his telepathic power ::I'll see you later Domini in your office i may just need that talk:: the doors closed behind Kyle as he made his way into a nearby turbolift. "Science Department." he said the computer accepted the command and the lift began to move. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca-Cargo bay 2- Ensign Ryko Skylynx, Lt William Bush, 1205) Ryko arrived outside the cargo bay, meeting 2 security officers on the way. They reported that there were no signs of movement, but they were yet to open the doors. He moved over to the doors, and ordered them to open. [Unable to comply] the computer said in a dull tone. "Security override, authorisation Skylynx Gamma Delta 227," Ryko said simply. He turned to the two crewmen. "Phasers on stun people, and keep 'em peeled. I'll contact lt Bush."As the two crewmen headed into the cargo bay, Ryko stood aside. "Skylynx to Bush," he said as he tapped his badge. =^= Go ahead Ensign,=^= William stated. "We have a security situation in Cargo bay 2, sir, possible stowaway." Ryko reported. He checked inside the bay. The two crewmen were searching for signs of life. =^= Right. Do you need assistance?=^= "I wouldn't mind the extra help, sir," Ryko reported. "I'm going inside to have a look. Skylynx out." William deactivated himself from the tactical console and left the bridge. Collecting a phaser on his way, he began to make his way to the cargo bay. His assistant was a tallented person and could no doubt handle the situation, and William had already told himself he was going as a observer... Well a observer with a phaser. Meanwhile, Ryko cautiously entered the bay, his phaser drawn. He looked around, and pulled out his tricorder. He scanned for lifesigns, and waved the two crewmen over to him. "Over there," Ryko said, indicating a collection of supply crates. The two crewmen followed as he cautiously approached the crates. Without warning, an energy beam shot out from behind the crates, and struck one crewman in the arm. Ryko ducked behind a stansion to escape the fire, and the remaining crewman also found cover. William picked up his speed as he heard phaser fire echoing down the corridor. the cargo bay held a team of his with his assistant taking cover. not caring to take cover William began to move forward. as he moved over with no real hurry phaser blasts whistled through the air. William slowly unholstered his phaser reluctantly. As he began to get closer to the Ensign the fire became more concentrated on his position, William dropped to a little shuttle run. as he came to the Ensign's position he nodded. "Ensign, who the hell is shooting at us?!" "No ID, sir," Ryko said above the noise. "It's a ferengi, probably trying to steal something!" Ryko dodged as a burst of fire sent sparks at him. He peeked around the side. It was a ferengi alright, a male, and his attention was focusing on the remaining crewman. Ryko spotted a plasma relay behind him, and had an Idea. "Permission to bring this to a swift end, sir," Ryko said to Bush. "Depends Ensign, what do you plan on doing?" Ryko indicated the plasma Relay. " I can't hit him from here. That relay is the best way to bring this to a close, without hurting this guy seriously." "Ensign, it was my knowledge that shooting a plasma relay would start a plasma fire and annoy our engineering department considerably. Also i doubt he is fire proof!" William stated raising a eye brow at the Ensign's idea. Ryko frowned at himself. He looked out again, and caught a glimpse of the ferengi's arm. "In that case," he said, "my best option is a pot shot," Ryko said, although he wasn't entirely sure it would work. "Go for It," Bush said. "Cover me," Ryko said as he slipped out from behind the stansion. He moved behind a container to get a better shot, and focused on the ferengi. He waited. And waited. Then came the window of opportunity. He fired, and seconds later the stunned ferengi fell to the ground. Ryko moved out from behind the container, and approached the ferengi. He was quite helpless. Ryko holstered his phaser and signalled that it was safe to emerge. He examined the ferengi and found some ID. "Daimon Danias Traag," Ryko said to Bush, handing him a PADD discovered on the ferengi's person. "He was looking for Trilite ore." Bush accepted the padd and read over it. "Hum, Ensign what would you like to do," William stated not looking at him but at the Ferengi. Ryko nodded and signalled for help. He ordered the crewman to take the ferengi to the brig and leaned close to Traag's face. "Welcome aboard, Daimon." Ryko said without a hint of happiness. He followed the ensign back to the security office and began to write up his report. The captain would need to know about this. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Ten-Forward - Sevant - 1205) Sevant walked into Ten-Forward, and was immediately hit with a fairly happy atmosphere. There weren't many in here, most shifts were still active to get the ship running at full capacity again. But there were always people off-shift who came in here to relax before Off to one side he noticed the ACSO, who waved him over. There was another grouping of officers there, many of which were at the meeting not long ago. His face impassive, he walked over. He seemed to be in a conversation with the Counselor, though they put it on hold once he had walked within hearing distance. "Counselor," he said impassively. He also nodded at the officers at the table, "Excuse us." he said louder, as he looked at the ACSO. He gestured off to the side, where they could talk without being watched. "Report," he said. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Ten Forward - Senior Chief Melody Haverstaad - 1205) Melody pulled her hair back and took the drink pro-offered her with a nod. The Bartender knew her well, Melody had been on the ship nearly it's entire refit since the Tactical systems had been installed; as had the bartender, who was actually just a moonlighter and really part of the Operations department. She studied the contrast in colors within the mug, then took the straw and stirred it slightly. "Not on duty then?" she asked the bartender, before taking a sip. "Mmm, just got off." was the reply. "Came here to unwind for a couple hours, while it's quiet, and go back on in eight hours." The Tactical Senior Chief nodded, she was just off an extended shift herself, and went back to work during the overnight shift. There was still a lot of real-time tweaking of the holographic tactical system to be done, and even more training to be done. Better then half the officers and Crew in Tactical which had been brought on board had no prior experience with the manipulative Tactical Holographic System, which left her busy as hell. "Cheers" she said, holding up the glass briefly, before taking a sip of the deeply tart fruit drink. She savored it a moment, then took another as she turned half in the chair to look at a gathering of officers that was going on. She quirked her head as the Captain joined them, and pulled one of the officers away. After a few moments consideration, she shrugged and turned back. The Bartender had moved on and was waiting on someone else, leaving her deep within her thoughts. She wasn't going to say that the Boudicca had problems, that was obvious. However, rumor had filtered down that they might immediately go into a combat situation, and that wasn't a good thing, not with the crew half-trained and the systems touchy. She rubbed her eyes, and was about to take another drink after a while of thinking when her badge suddenly beeped. She was out of her seat a moment after she heard the words 'Firefight' and 'Cargo bay Two', and was out the doors by the time she heard there was another security team on site. She tapped her badge, "Security team beta to standby alert!" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Ten-Forward - ACSO Kyle Rin - 1205) Sevant walked into Ten-Forward, and was immediately hit with a fairly happy atmosphere. He also nodded at the officers at the table, "Excuse us." he said louder, as he looked at the ACSO. He gestured off to the side, where they could talk without being watched. "Report," he said. Kyle handed Sevant the PADD containing the current read-out on the sensor buffer from the jefferies tube. "As you can see sir there is a slight power fluctuation with the buffer causing it to run under efficent operating standards. If it isn't repaired the sensors will be useless if the need arises for use of them battle or not." (reply sevant) nrpg: yada yada afterwards Rin returns to the table with domini i'm not gonna bother with a post on that since it's already done with she just won't have the PADD thats all -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Engineering - Ensign Saim Enaj - 1209) Saim was pouring over her work. So many repairs to be done. Of course she could of gone at a slower pace but it felt bad enough leaving dock not fully up to checks. Saim glanced at her watch and was horrified to realise that she was late for the arranged lunch. She had been so busy she had just got lost in her work. And Saim hated being late for anything. She dropped her pad and made a dash towards the door and ten foreward. Not running but very close to that. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Ten Forward - Sevant - 1215) Sevant was just about ready to leave after a few words with the ACSO when his badge suddenly beeped, yet again. =^=Captain, Bridge. Weapons fire in Cargo Bay Two, Security Teams on Sight.=^= The voice was calm, collected. He heard other badges going off, security officers being called to duty. Sevant was already moving before the voice had even cut off. "Sevant to Security, report!" he barked. NRPG: Go ahead and report when you are done, so as not to break the flow of your post. I will post further for this particular time, when a few more replies have come in. In the mean time, time-jump. Nothing of this magnitude would escape Sevant's attention for nearly 12 hours, especially not after a phaser fight. I will just assume I talked to someone (probably the TAC/SC) and Lynx wasn't informed. And please, be careful about posting to far ahead and putting responses in my mouth. I would have taken this a different direction then what was presented. Covering it my best this time, but it really is a serious annoyance, and it just barely skirts actually putting words in another's mouth... which is a definite no-no. No harm done this time, but please be aware that if anyone gets 'answers' to answer at a later time, to questions that would seriously go against their characters grain, the post will either have to be reworded or removed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Science Department - ACSO Kyle Rin - 1215) Having just arived back at the Science Department Kyle's combadge began to beep. "Skylynx to Rin," =^= Rin here go ahead.=^= "Could you come to security ASAP please, I need to talk to you. Don't worry. Nothing's wrong." =^= I'm on my way.=^= Kyle downloaded the information from his tricorder into the main computer bank saved all the files and shut down and computer. He made his way for a turbolift on his way out he ordered the computer to turn off the lights in the Science Department. The doors to the turbolift closed "Deck 12." Kyle gave the command and the turbolift began to move down. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Brig-ATAC/ASC Ensign Ryko Skylynx- 1215) "Get in touch with Science and Engineering, have them work up full reports on what they could do with that much trilite, and have Tactical work up a similar report, I want it on my desk by 2000 tomorrow. I will decide then," Sevant said. "And keep this Ferengi under full guard, here in the brig." he finished, somewhat coldly. "Aye sir," Ryko replied. "See that he is taken care of, until we can offload him," Ryko instructed. He followed Sevnat out of the brig, handed him the defence mod report and decided that he had best get down to Work. "Skylynx to Enaj," Ryko said, tapping his communicator. (Reply Saim) "Could you come to Security ASAP, please, I need to talk to you." (Reply Saim) Ryko sighed and sat at his desk. He would also have to talk to Rin. "Skylynx to Rin," he said as he tapped his badge again. (Reply Rin) "Could you come to security ASAP please, I need to talk to you. Don't worry. Nothing's wrong." (Reply Rin) Ryko nodded to himself and ordered another coffee. It was going to be a long night. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Brig - ATAC/ASC Ensign Ryko Skylynx- 1217) "What can i do for you Skylynx?" Kyle asked as he approached Ryko. "I need your help," Ryko said, at which point Saim also entered. (Reply saim) Ryko indicated the ferengi. "This daimon was caught attempting to smuggle an extremely rare ore onboard ship. It is a substance you may be familiar with- Trilite." (Reply Rin) "When properly refined, Trilite forms an extremely tough metal, whose best use is as armor. Captain sevant has asked me to prepare a report on the possible applications it could have on this ship. To do this, I need both of your suggestions. (Reply Saim, Rin) (posted by adam Watson) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Brig - ACSO Kyle Rin - 1217) Kyle stepped off the turbolift and headed for the door leading into the brig as the doors opened he spotted what looked like a ferengi in a holding cell Ryko was sitting at a desk in one corner going over some documents. "What can i do for you Skylynx?" Kyle asked as he approached the desk. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Ten Forward - Ensign Saim Enaj - 1219) Saim rushed into ten foreward puffing and panting. She spotted the rest over at a table and hurried to them. I'm soo sorry I'm late. I completely lost track of the time," Saim exclaimed as she collapsed into a vacant seat. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca, Sickbay, FO, Cmdr Grailik, 1330) Grailik entered sickbay and looked around. Nurses and orderlies hurried about working on various tasks to get sickbay squared away and ready for action. He moved casually though the bio-beds letting his mind wonder a bit to his time as a CMO aboard a star ship. Soon he heard the voice of the person he had come here looking for, He turned and moved toward it. He soon found Lt. Commander Troi talking with several nurses. Grailik stood patiently listening and waiting till she had finished and dismissed the nurses to their tasks. "Commander," Grailik said, finally moving up beside her. "Sorry, didn't mean to surprise you. May I have a word with you in your office?" Grailik motioned toward the CMO's Office. (Reply Kestra) Grailik followed Kestra into her office and closed the door behind him. "Please, have a seat Commander," Grailik said pointing at the seat behind the desk, before taking the seat opposite. "How are you settling in on the Boudicca?" (Reply Kestra) "As the First Officer and Second Officer, the two of us will be working together a lot to ensure the smooth running of the ship and her crew. I felt we should take a little time to get to know each other a little more and I want to make sure that you are comfortable coming to me with any problems that might arise. The Captain is a busy man. We need to make sure that he is not bothered with trivial or mundane problems. That said, is there any potential problems you feel we need to address?" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca, Sick Bay, 2O/MCO Lt. Cmdr Kestra Troi, 1335) Kestra had finished her noon meal/meeting with several of the crew members in Ten Forward. It had not went absolutely the way she had wanted it to, but, she was able to converse with a few of the crew. She hoped that what happened there would foster some comradery amongst them. She had to return to sick bay as she could not just leave her staff to complete all the work there without her. She found that there was always instructions to give to some of the staff. Kestra had returned and immediately returned to work helping to finish getting things put away and readied for whatever they were going to face. She saw a few things that needed attending and pulled some of her nurses aside to discuss it with them. Once finished she dismissed them to accomplish what she had told them on to turn and see the FO, Commander Grailik, waiting for her. She walked over to him as he started to address her. "Commander," He started as they finally came close to each other, "Sorry, didn't mean to surprise you. May I have word with you in your Office?" He finished as he motioned toward her office. "Anytime Commander and you didn't surprise me sir. Right this way." She replied as they walked over to her office. As they entered the office and he closed the door, he continued. "Please, have a seat Commander," he said as he pointed to her seat behind the desk. She was content to stand if he wanted them to, but, went ahead and sat down at her desk. She watched him wait till she sat down before taking a seat opposite of her. ~A rarity, a gentleman~ she thought to herself. "How are you settling in on the Boudicca?" he asked and it actually came as a surprise at first to her, then, she thought he was just being a first officer asking the Second Officer how she felt. As she started to relax, she thought as to what she wanted to say to him, "Well Commander, to be perfectly honest I had doubts about this duty until I arrived. Since I have been here, I have been totally accepted without any questions asked. I find the crew I have met so far to be a really great crew and that they have a lot to learn. A lot of them seem to be a little wet behind the ears, as they say on earth, but, they have a lot of will power to want to make the captain happy." She paused a minute to see how Grailik was taking what she said before she continued, "Sir, is there something specific you want to know from me?" she asked finishing. "As the First Officer and Second Officer, the two of us will be working together a lot to ensure the smooth running of the ship and her crew. I felt we should take a little time to get to know each other a little more and I want to make sure that you are comfortable coming to me with any problems that might arise. The Captain is a busy man. We need to make sure that he is not bothered with trivial or mundane problems. That said, any potential problems you feel we need to address?" Kestra sat there thinking of what he had just said, if it hadn't been for her looking at his medical file, she would have thought the FO to be around thirty years of age. She had always thought that El-Aurians aged rather well and kept their looks over the years. He was very easy to converse with him with his deep voice and his pleasant smile. With his soothing voice and calm demeanor, she could see how he had managed to make commander. The one thing she could not understand was why had LoDona put him on the Boudicca. "Well, thanks to the counselor while she was also the CMO, we have plenty of medical supplies for now. As far as any problems, I have not heard of any so far, but, if I do I will bring them to you if I can not take care of them." She had not found any problems, but, then again she had not had the time to make rounds over the ship. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca - Engineering - Ensign Saim Enaj - 2139) Ryko entered the main engineering room, and was surprised by its size. He'd often wondered exactly what the maximum output of a warp core was, but he knew this wasn't the time to worry. He was spotted almost immediately by Saim Enaj. "Hi can I help you." Saim was surprised to see anyone else enter engineering, especially not someone with security colours. Ryko stopped looking around and turned his attention to Enaj. "I'm just doing my rounds, making sure everything is so-so. Any security problems here?" "Not that I know of." "Okay," Ryko said. "There is one thing I would like to ask you about though, if you have a minute." "Sure, if you can walk and talk. If you've taken a look around this ship you'll have seen we've got a lot of work to do down here." "Lt Bush and I have been working on defence measures in the event of a boarding party. Here are the details." Ryko handed a Padd to Enaj outlining how he intended to augment the fire control systems to stun intruders with low-frequency phaser sweeps. Saim stopped for a minute to inspect the Padd. "It looks like an interesting idea. It should be possible, I just need to check a couple of things about it first. This bit about avoiding our people getting hit might work but you'd have to add a force field to the communicators which I'd have it check out..." Saim started tapping the padd in concentration. "I just need to know how much power it's going to use- I know that's one of the things we're having constant problems with right now," Ryko said. "That's true. The communicator force field would be a real energy guzzeler but the actual phaser sweeps would hardly sap anything. If things were dire you might have to drain a few replicators, but apart from that, no I think the energy consumption would be fine. "Thankyou, ensign," he said. Ryko turned and left. He felt time had gotten on quite a bit. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 USS Boudicca- Quarters - Sevant -2258) Sevant, his eyes half closed, fingered the small crystal bars of a logic puzzle he had been given by his father at a very young age. It was as much ritualistic as anything, but to build a tower out of these round bars required fine motor control and clarity of mind, it was a test of self as much as a relaxant. He breathed out slowly, "No structure can stand without a foundation," he said quietly, in his native tongue, as he placed one more rod in place. He picked up another from the loose pile around him, and rolled it in his fingers. "Logic is the foundation of reason..." =^=Skylynx to Sevant,=^= =^=Could you come to Security as soon as possible please, we have a stowaway on board.=^= Sevant stood, and grabbed his uniform top from over the chair back, where he had laid it. "I will be there in five minutes, Ensign." =^=Aye, sir. I'll find out what I can.=^= Sevant walked out of his quarters with his over-jacket in hand, and put it on when he stepped into the turbolift. "Security detention center." he said. He walked into Security, nodded to the brig-master, and walked into the area where the Stow-away was being kept. He pulled his uniform top down, then crossed his arms. "What should be done with him?" The TAC/ASC asked. Sevant said nothing for a few moments. "Get in touch with the Ferengi Alliance and get the records on this Damon, " he said. "I'll send word to the Grand Nagus," Ryko said. "I suggest we allow the Ferengi Hierarchy to deal with this." Sevant folded his arms behind his back as he looked at the Ferengi, "I will take it under advisement, Ensign." he said finally. "What should we do with the trilite?" Sevant could think of a few uses for it, but he wanted other options on the option. "What would you suggest?" "Well, we could use it to augment the ship's existing armor. Only problem is, there's only enough to cover the bridge and impulse engines," Sevant considered that for many long moments, mulling it over in his mind. He was a Security officer by trade, defense was always high on his mind. However, other departments might have other ideas. "Get in touch with Science and Engineering, have them work up full reports on what they could do with that much material, and have Tactical work up a similar report, I want it on my desk by 2000 tomorrow. I will decide then." The only problem , was that most anything they could do would require a few days in a space dock, and they didn't have that option. They might be forced to sit and do nothing with it, until they could buy themselves free time. "And keep this Ferengi under full guard, here in the brig." he finished, somewhat coldly. "Aye sir," Ryko replied. "See that he is taken care of, until we can offload him," Sevant nodded, watched the Ferengi for a few moments more, then turned on his heel and walked out of the brig. He began walking out of Security until Ryko called his name. Caladryll turned again, one eyebrow slightly cocked in askance. "The defense mod report sir, ready for your apraisal." Sevant took the proffered PADD, and looked at it for a few moments. "Very good, excellent work." he said as he scrolled it, then tucked it under his arm. "Thank you sir. I'm glad I'm doing well," Sevant nodded, then turned on his heel once more and exited the secure facility. He took a breath, outside the brig, and looked around. He required rest and meditation, he had been active for nearly two days. With that in mind, he once again headed for his quarters. It wasn't long before all the fun started with the Marines and Tactical. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate:2406.07.01 (USS Boudicca- Security Office- ATAC/ACSO Ensign Ryko Skylynx - 2300) Ryko sat in his office, while two security personnel escorted the stowaway ferengi to a holding cell. Ryko got himself a coffee from the replicator, then went to visit the detainee. He looked at the ferengi, who was still stunned from the phaser fight in the cargo bay. Ryko thought that, despite the fact that this ferengi was obviously inexperienced in firefights, Lt Bush had placed an extraordinary amount of trust in Ryko's ability. This made him feel both elated and sort of worried. He was beginning to feel like he was being pushed from Rookie to Senior year a little too fast. The ferengi stirred, but remained unconscious. Ryko checked his ID again. Daimon Danias Traag, of the House Of Commerce. Something told Ryko that this was a fake. But why the ferengi would even want to sneak someone aboard the Boudicca, he didn't know. Traag was coming around. Time to inform the captain. Ryko tapped his badge. "Skylynx to Sevant," he said as he cynically observed Traag attempt to escape. He went face first into a force field. (Reply Sevant) "Could you come to Security as soon as possible please, we have a stowaway on board." (Reply Sevant) "Aye, sir. I'll find out what I can." Ryko motioned to the quartermaster to deactivate the forcefield. He stepped inside, phaser ready, and approached Traag. "Ensign Ryko Skylynx," he said. Traag observed him, then Replied shakily, "Daimon.." "Danias Traag." Ryko interrupted. He motioned for Traag to sit and took out the padd he had found in the cargo bay. "What the hell were you doing in our cargo bay?" Ryko said. "I was...looking for a contact..there was some information I was supposed to give him." "What?" Ryko said. "I was sent by the Chamber of Commerce to purchase a special shipment of ore..." said Traag slowly. "Trilite." Ryko finished for him. "Yes. Trilite. It was our understanding that Trilite, when properly refined, can create a super-strength armor, which sells for a lot of money. I was going to buy this from my contact." The ferengi smiled weakly and looked fleetingly at Ryko's weapon. Ignoring this, Ryko examined the padd. "When and how did you board this ship?" Ryko said. The ferengi was about to answer when Captain Sevant arrived. (Reply Sevant) Ryko moved out of the bay and reactivated the forcefield. He told Sevant the details of what he had thus far discovered. (Reply Sevant) "What should be done with him?" Ryko said as he looked again at the ferengi. (Reply Sevant) "I'll send word to the Grand Nagus," Ryko said. "I suggest we allow the Ferengi Hierarchy to deal with this." (Reply Sevant) "What should we do with the trilite?" Ryko said. (Reply Sevant) "Well, we could use it to augment the ship's existing armor. Only problem is, there's only enought to cover the bridge and impulse engines," he said, checking the padd again. (Reply sevant) "Aye sir," Ryko replied. "See that he is taken care of, until we can offload him," Ryko instructed the quartermaster. He followed Sevant out of the brig and into the office. "Captain Sevant," Ryko said as the captain moved to exit. (Reply Sevant) "The defence mod report sir, ready for your repraisal." He handed a padd to sevant. (Reply Sevant) "Thankyou sir. I'm glad I'm doing well," Ryko said. Sevant left, and Ryko sat down to his coffee. He checked the time. 2350. Time to get some sleep. He set his affairs in order, then exited the security office. It had been a very long day, but it had been a very enjoyable one. (Reply Sevant, Any) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Back
