His consciousness ebbed and flowed with the pulsing of some infernal ache. ~How did I get here?~ he thought in brief moments of lucidity. ~Isn't there things to do?~ Trying to move (without any success), he began to work himself into a panicked anguish, trying to make his body obey him. ~Somebody here?~ he broadcasted weakly. ~Could someone tell me what's happened? For the love of God... let me be able to make a difference!~ (Reply any) (Posted by Lenox) (planet's surface, camp, Kahila Lono, 7:40) Kahila was nearing the tent where the comatose and near comatose patients were housed. She'd been awake for a little while, and was anxious to know if there's been any change in the patients' condition. Before even entering the tent, her empathic sense caught the faint mental whisper of Pierce Orde. ~Somebody here?~ he broadcasted weakly. ~Could someone tell me what's happened? For the love of God... let me be able to make a difference!~ Fearful that her imagination was merely allowing her to hear something that wasn't really there, Kahila hurried into the tent. Felicity was there, dozing next to Claire's bed. Though Pierce hadn't opened his eyes, Kahila was aware of his confused, but waking, mind state. ~Pierce, I'm so glad you're waking!~ She mindsent. ~All of us who were on the alien ship have developed a nano cluster which has caused this illness. The Spectre landed planetside, and we're in a medical camp now. How can I help you?~ (reply Pierce) (posted by Josephine Goodman) (Planet's Surface: Base Camp - TAC/SC/20 Pierce Horatio Orde - 0741) ::Pierce, I'm so glad you're waking!:: he heard (in the 'tone' of Kahlia) echo through his mind. ::All of us who were on the alien ship have developed a nano cluster which has caused this illness. The Spectre landed planetside, and we're in a medical camp now. How can I help you?:: ~Yes,~ he broadcasted again, not really knowing where Kahlia was, ~Help me up. And, now that I think of it, I do remember that thrice-damned nanocluster. Did someone think to retrieve my firearms? Security knows how to use 'em. Kahlia, I know I can fight -- if I can stand...~ (Reply Kahlia, any others who may have 'heard') (Posted by Lenox) Felicity woke but kept her eyes closed, she could sense that someone had entered the tent even though she had not yet opened her eyes, She was sure it was the Counsellor. She lay motionless for sometime realizing that there was some kind of exchange happening between Kahila Lono and one of the patients, as she didn't know who any of the patients were except of course Claire, it was hard to pick up on who Kahila was sending thoughts to. ~Interesting, I have tried communicating with everyone in here with the only success being Claire, and then it was only a minor, Perhaps it's someone Kahila has a special bond with......Very interesting~ Felicity kept her eyes closed for sometime until she thought that the exchange between the Counsellor and patient had ended, this was some kind of breakthrough, plenty to get excited about if her hunch was correct. slowly she opened her eyes and looked at Kahila. "Do you want to share what just happened with me?" she said grinning. (Reply Kahila) Felicity looked over at the patient who Kahila had motioned to, "ahhhh so that's Pierce Ord" Ensign Robinson had spoken of the Lieutenant during the landing. (Reply Kahila, Pierce) Posted by Jen Keen (Planet Surface: Base Camp - Pierce Orde - 0744) Pierce heard the voice aloud in the air. ~Kahlia,~ he sent, ~Who is that? I'm nigh-paralyzed, not deaf.~ (planet's surface, medical tent, Kahila Lono, 7:44) Kahila rushed to where Pierce was lying, a little apart from the other patients. ~Yes,~ he broadcasted again, not really knowing where Kahlia was, ~Help me up. And, now that I think of it, I do remember that thrice-damned nanocluster. Did someone think to retrieve my firearms? Security knows how to use 'em. Kahlia, I know I can fight -- if I can stand...~ ~I took care of giving out old style firearms to the nano infected. We can't use any technology, our nano turns it into Xenolithe communication devices. Not very convenient!~ Kahila added a brief smile to her mental communication. She was looking at Pierce when he opened his eyes. So she smiled, real-time. "Welcome back." She said. She reached out, and helped him sit. Then Kahila heard, from behind her, Felicity's voice: "Do you want to share what just happened with me?" she said grinning. Kahila turned away from Pierce, and walked to where Felicity sat. "Sorry. I didn't mean to exclude you, Ensign. Pierce and I are able to communicate telepathically, as well as empathically. I'm gratified to see he's doing so much better. I don't mind telling you I've been worriedl" Felicity looked over at the patient who Kahila had motioned to, "ahhhh so that's Pierce Ord" . ~Kahlia,~ he sent, ~Who is that? I'm nigh-paralyzed, not deaf.~ "Pierce, this is our new Assistant Counselor, Felicity Wells. I don't think you had a chance to meet her. She was rescued after spending a few years in an escape pod. She's doing a wonderful job here with some of our patients." Kahila turned again to Felicity. "When we have time, I'd like to discuss the healing you've been doing. For now, let's see if we can get Pierce on his feet." The two of them moved close to Pierce as he stood. Kahila had expected him to be weak, perhaps even unsteady on his feet. But no. Not Pierce. She couldn't help but grin when she looked at him. "There's breakfast out by the shuttle, brought in by the Captain. As FO I order you to help yourself to that, before making any decisions of what to do next." (reply Pierce, Felicity) (posted by Josephine Goodman) (Shuttle - Base Camp Perimeter - Lt Major Drizzt - 08.40) The Andorian snarled as he pulled the trigger on his snipers rifle. He hit a Xenolithe dead-on, and the beast went tumbling. The Major followed him down, then put another shot into it when the beast moved again. These things took a lot to go down. =^=Captain to Drizzt, report?=^= Drizzt immediately switched targets, and took another couple shots at a zagging target before answering. "I give it ten minutes, 15 max, before we are engaged hand-to-hand here at the base camp, Sir." was his emotionless reply. =^=I am going to provide you with a little air support, where could you use me the most?=^= The Major thought about that for a few seconds, "We could use you here on the line, Captain, but I would prepare to cover an escape route for the personnel at the base camp, back to the Spectre." =^=Understood, Captain out.=^= The major closed his eyes as a portion of the Xenolithe line disappeared in the high-power explosion of a photon grenade from the grenade launchers of the Heavy Infantry. Even so, it wasn't enough, there were too many for the few Marines and Security he had guarding the camp. "Drizzt to Spectre defense, report!" (Reply: anyone on the Spectre defense line) The Andorian, who had been firing his phaser the entire time he had been talking, targeted another Xenolithe and pulled the trigger. He cursed to himself, then shook his head. "All Base Camp defense forces, prepare to cover a retreat of all non-essential personnel back to the Spectre." He received numerous confirmations, then said "Major Drizzt to all non-combat personnel within the base camp. Begin an orderly retreat back to the Spectre, starting now." (reply any in the Base Camp, as desired) The Major pulled back for a few moments, and switched power-packs on his phaser rifle. The Marines and Security would be staying here, it was as good a rock as any, and it stood solid between the Enemy and the Spectre. "Alright, Men!" he bellowed into the helmet, "Today the Thin Green Line and the Mustard Shirts shows its strengths, cover the retreat at all costs! No one leaves the line until the camp is empty! Eh?" On multiple Marine frequencies, he was suddenly assaulted with "OOOOOOH RAH!" (reply: anyone who wants to play on one of the front lines) With a sudden furiosity, the Support Phasers started firing again, their type-4 emitters steaming the air as they recharged. The Sappers started launching photon grenades with a will, blowing holes in the Xenolithe lines. "Form line!" the Andorian bellowed, as the enemy moved well into range and sniping became pointless. Around him, security and Marine both took position and aimed. Drizzt looked around at the bodies, and nodded in stiff approval, his pride swelled for a few moments. He pulled a photon grenade from his BDU, and thumbed it to a full power blast. "All forces, Fire at will! Fire at Will" ~With any luck, the camp is cleared before it becomes hand-to-hand, none of us will survive that.~ (reply: any) (posted by Trout)
