He quickly made his way to the officer shouting commands as logically that individual was invariably in charge. "Doc to Captain, I've got some guys down here who think they're smarter than us. The core should be retrieved shortly, as we're running on batttery right now and we need it. Oh and we're under lockdown, although I don't know where that came from..." "Given the circumstances ensign it appeared to be a logical action, although evidiently they chose an incorrect target." Soval gestured towards the officers currently pinned down by the enginnering crew sitting ontop of them, "however logically you will require assistance; my engineering knowledge is considerable although academic in nature nevertheless logically it should be sufficient for damage control duties if you so wish?" (reply Peabody, any) (posted by John Morrison) (USS Spectre - Engineering- ACEO Peabody - 21.54) "Doc to Captain, I've got some guys down here who think they're smarter than us. The core should be retrieved shortly, as we're running on batttery right now and we need it. Oh and we're under lockdown, although I don't know where that came from..." =^=Doc, get your crew back, we've got a hostile ship off the port bow, I can't risk the shuttle unprotected. I want every generator on the ship brought to 120% now; divert everything we've got to the warp nacelles. Prepare for warp.=^= Walter was floored. "Are you out of your mind? That's damned near impossible!" =^=I don't care! Just do it!=^= Peabody was about to make his orders when a random guy jumped into the fray. "Given the circumstances ensign it appeared to be a logical action, although evidiently they chose an incorrect target, however logically you will require assistance; my engineering knowledge is considerable although academic in nature nevertheless logically it should be sufficient for damage control duties if you so wish?" Walter nodded quickly. "Good. We don't need damage control. I need you to follow these four guys..." There was little time to think, little time to act. Peabody tapped his commbadge, quickly. "Doc to away team. Crash the shuttle into the shuttle bay as fast as you can. We need all the cores from the shuttles down here...NOW!" Turning, he snagged four other random officers. "Get to the shuttle bay and get those cores. Go. Take this bundle of joy with you, NOW!" He spoke out loud as he ran to a console. "Get those men in shackles and put them in my office under guard. I need everyone to get every ounce of power into the warp engines." He turned. The clock had lost ten seconds. The room was tense as he waited. Meanwhile... (USS Spectre - Outside the Ship - 21.59) Armenson and Gerry had just finished speaking with their superior officer and were looking at each other. Crash the shuttle into the shuttle bay? And then get the cores from the shuttle themselves? Neither men totally trusted their new ACEO, but the sight of the ship coming in made them quickly move into action. Gregory Aremenson ran his now shaking fingers across the console, setting a rough course for the shuttle bay. Thomas Gerry put his hands on the manual control and prayed silently. The shuttle shot foward as the Spectre zoomed in in front of them. The ship bounced off the ground, sending sparks flying. Armenson cursed his mother and father several times as the screeching of metal on metal filled the cabin. Finally it came to a rest as officers scrambled into the room and began to disengage the cores from the shuttles. Gerry was first out and realized they weren't going to make time. "Gerry to Doc, we're not going to make time with the cores!" Meanwhile... (USS Spectre - Engineering- ACEO Peabody - 22:00) "Damn it!" Quickly, the Doc jumped to the console and began to run his fingers. "The incoming ship is Nebula class vessel. They have level..." He went onto talk to himself as the command codes of the ship were pulled up. "They have a weakness in the propulsion codes, last I checked. Only officers who took those girls apart know about it...and I'm one of them..." He was starting to panic as he searched through the lines of code he was feeding from the Nightingale. "It was in the second page...here...no, they moved it. Damn girl. Show the doctor where I need to go...just give me an idea..." Suddenly he shouted. "Got it!" Quickly he tapped the buttons engaging a few things that would stall them. He couldn't send them into warp. But he could put them into full reverse for a few moments. Enough time that would safe their lives. He quickly engage the command and grinned as he watched the attacking vessel go into reverse. Peabody then locked, changed and mixed up the codes for the Spectre. It was that moment when a barrage of officers pounded through the doors with carts, armed with three warp cores from shuttles. "Plug 'em in! We've got seconds before we're toasted fries!" He kept a close eye on the ship. It was still going backwards. Something told him the chief engineering officer didn't have a clue. "Doc! We're clear and plugged!" Peabody jumped over his current console and began to activate the cores through the power managment systems. The warp cores began to light up as the power began to flow from them. Walter watched as the readings began to accelerate. And then it happened. "Nightingale is reversing course!" The Doc curses his mother and father quickly and tapped the console. A moment later he had it. The power was being redirected from all over the ship. They would make warp 1. And that's all that mattered. "Doc to Captain! Power ready on your command!" (reply Soval, Remae, any, all) (posted by sulu)
