"I'll do an autopsy later and notify you of the exact cause of death but I'm speculating that it is blunt force trauma, the result of a bulkhead falling on him. Your task will be to find out why a bulkhead fell on him and what involvement our ferret friend played. Maybe he was a specially trained assassin ferret, or maybe Saurik killed his wife and kids and he's a revenge ferret, or maybe he was just a ferret in the wrong place at the wrong time.... or maybe he was an anti-Vulcan fe...." Rain was going to keep on, but she saw the look on Orde's face and stopped. "Anyway Lieutenant, I look forward to reading your report." The morgue team had arrived to remove the body and Rain summoned Traynor and prepared to leave the dead man's quarters. (Reply Orde, Traynor, any) (Posted by Wendy Keen) Stardate: 2406.03.12 (USS Spectre: Sickbay - Lt. Orde - 0920) Pierce Orde found himself in Sickbay. Almost as an afterthought, he removed his duty phaser and turned it over to a ready security officer. "Ms. Anderson, Lieutenant Orde reporting -- we need to find out what happened to the nanocluster that I had been infected with. I need to know if I am a risk to the ship, ma'am." (Reply Anderson) (Posted by Lenox) (USS Spectre - Sickbay - Acting CMO Rain Anderson - 9.30) Rain watched as another patched up crewmen left through the sickbay double doors and looked around sickbay, taking stock off their currect position. It seemed now that they were clear of the Xenolithe but badly damaged and in a very precarious position. Rain, however, was very happy. She'd always been convinced that her last breath would be drawn impaled on a xenolithe hook and now they had survived and were leaving the system as fast as they could! She picked up the dermal regenerator and prepared to begin repairing the burns on Ensign Lowman's arms. She spied Lt Orde enter sickbay and excused herself to go and talk to him. She was surprised to see him "check his weapon at the door." "How goes the ferret hunt?" she asked. When a look of vague irritation crossed his face, she changed the subject. "How can I help you?" "Ms. Anderson, Lieutenant Orde reporting -- we need to find out what happened to the nanocluster that I had been infected with. I need to know if I am a risk to the ship, ma'am." "I'd almost forgotten about that." Rain grabbed the closest medical tricorder and began to scan him. The fact that the tricorder worked indicated he was not currently a risk, but what she saw on the scan surprised her. "Firstly Lieutenant, you are not currently a threat to the ship as you are not interfering with any EM fields. However, I can't say that this will always be the case. In the rest of us who were cured through the fever, the nanocluster broke up and has been removed by our lymphatic drainage system. Yours though is still there... completely inactive for some reason, but still there. I can't promise you that it will stay inactive. We know so little about the technology. We could leave it and monitor it, or you could try the induced fever to break it up but I'm not sure it would work on an inactive cluster. We need to do more research." (Reply Orde, any) (Posted by Wendy Keen) (USS Spectre: Sickbay - TAC/SC Pierce Orde - 0933) Pierce listened paitently as the doctor outlined her conclusions. He wasn't a medical doctor, and so he was somewhat at the tender mercies of Medical -- not an enviable position, given the past history. But if Dr. Anderson would be professional -- he expected her to be -- he had no problems. "You're the doctor," he replied. "I'm prepared to do just about anything. If you want monitoring, I'll do monitoring." (Reply Rain) (USS Spectre, Sickbay, CO, Captain Remae - 11.30) Remae had changed and gotten something to eat, although most ships systems were on the verge of failure, they were still limping to the Subspace River network at impulse. A few hours in Engineering and Remae hadn't made any progress on the warp drive. "Thank you Ensign.", said Remae talking a PADD from a young man. The PADD contained the latest damage report, transporters, phasers; warp drive, tractor and the cloak had all failed in the past few hours. They had a few torpedoes left but the power to fire them was questionable. Shields were offline and power to a number of decks had been cut down and rerouted to Sickbay and Sensors and other crucial systems. =^= Engineering to Captain =^= "Go ahead.", said the CO. =^= The core just went offline, the reaction rate had dropped to 15% and we failed to sustain it =^= "Understood. Bridge this is the Captain, put the ship into energy conservation mode level 2.", said the CO closing the channel as he entered Sickbay. Wounded were all around but unlike the rest of the ship, Sickbay had full power, lighting and environmental control. He walked down the bio-beds and looked at the wounded. "Status?", he asked one of the Medical Team. (Reply from anyone) "I've routed the bulk of the power down here, I'll keep systems running as long as I can.", he said before taking his leave from the Medical Bay, he wasn't accomplishing a lot here. (USS Spectre, Cargo Bay 1, CO, Captain Remae - 11.45) He spent a moment bring up the survivors of their doomed planet up to speed, the leaders remained understanding and they were grateful to be alive. Their destination was Geneva and from there, they could relocate to anywhere the wanted. if the Federation stayed together. Remae went back to Engineering to lend whatever help he could but without the core being online, it wasn't looking good for the power systems. (USS Spectre, Ready Room, CO, Captain Remae - 12.30) Long range sensors had discovered a shuttle heading their way, identification confirmed it was Federation and it was heading for them. Remae confirmed they could dock with the Spectre and he resumed working in his office. (USS Spectre, Ready Room, CO, Captain Remae - 13.05) "Ensign Peabody reporting for duty, Captain!", said the new arrival and Remae was dumbfounded how this shuttle had managed to find them and that, according to the PADD, this Ensign was an ACEO. It seemed fate had delivered to them what they needed, for a change! "Welcome aboard, Ensign. have a seat, please.", said Remae to the new Ensign. "Well, all I can say is that your timing is perfect, no doubt from your scans on arrival of the Spectre, you noticed we've got major problems with the Warp Drive system. We can't get the core back online and as a result, power problems across the ship are getting worse." Remae explained about the mission with the Xenolithe and what had happened when they were badly damaged in battle. "As you're the only senior office in Engineering, I am making you Acting Chief Engineering Officer, congratulations, I need you to get down there and get that core online, anyway you can, use whomever you need, if you have any problems see the FO or me." He paused for a moment before adding, "There is a meeting in the Observation Lounge at 17.00 and a memorial service later today, please make sure you are present for both events. any questions, Ensign?" (Reply from Peabody) "Carry on Ensign.", said Remae as the lights flickered again in his office, the power problems were still getting worse, Remae hoped this new ACEO was ready to take on the problems of a starship!
