Compilers Notes: Geneva Compile 3 – Street Date March 19, 2005. Fixed symbol errors. Fixed timestamp errors… very few problems actually. Thanks for your attention to that problem. Fixed spelling errors… these continue to improve. Fixed formatting errors… again, there is an overall improvement here. Please remember to start new paragraphs, etc. when necessary. It just saves time later. Fixed many capitalization errors… please remember, proper names, places, titles and the words in your taglines are capitalized. “I” is also capitalized. I end up spending a lot of time fixing these. My spellchecker does not like Caitans. ;-) 27 pages of compile in total with 27 posts in total. He did not seem the type to be generally reasonable, but a strength of his race was at times diplomacy, so Engtamn waited and hoped, "Ok, sure -- we'll go somewhere else.  Why don't you call us when you're off duty!  We'll teach you to lasso!"   Engtamn nodded and smiled. "That would be acceptable to me. I will complete my duties for the day at 1800 barring other difficulties. I will meet you on," he paused for a second to check the deck logs on his PADD and found a mostly empty science lab except for a few stools and tables, "Science deck 116 shortly after that time. Does that sound acceptable to you? Perhaps I can show you a few other physics experiments at that time as well."   (Reply Destructor Triplets)   Engtamn watched as the children left sickbay and smiled slightly. ~I believe I dealt with that fairly well,~he thought.   (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, CO's Ready Room, CO Lise Arianna, 1546)   =^= Casely to Arianna, we have an Orion trader attempting to dock.  I am currently scanning his ship and trying to retrieve data on him. I'm not sure I want to let him on without your permission. =^=   Lise looked up from the PADD that she had been reading, she was about to open her mouth and say something when Casely informed her that his 'merchant' vessel was heavily armed with phasers and plasma missiles.   ~Just what we need!~ Lise thought facetiously.   "Sir, did you get the scan?  I can't find anything on Forsche, but I don't like it.  Instructions on how you want me to proceed?"   Lise thought about it a moment.  This sounded suspicious and not necessarily like a situation that she wanted aboard -- an Orion trader who was heavily armed wanting to dock on the station when they were understaffed -- sounded like a disaster waiting to happen.  However, she knew that not angering the Orions at this time, or in general was usually a positive thing.  That coupled with the fact that she wasn't to make LoDona grouchy in any way shape or form or she herself would be placed in prison made the decision quick and easy.   "We have our hands tied Mr. Casely.  Dictate that his weapons must be powered down while he is docked.  Have him come aboard, ensure that he completes the necessary registration and then, perhaps posting a few extra security guards -- which I realise the state of the department -- is the procedure I would like you to follow.  Keep an eye on him but from such a distance that he doesn't think its anything other than routine.  Let's ascertain his intentions."   (Posted by Katherine Mazurok) (Starbase Geneva - Main Operations - 2O/TAC/SC Lieutenant (JG) Paul Casely - 1555) Paul sighed when he received that response. He hadn't expected the Captain to let the Orion's aboard so easily. He shrugged his shoulders, ~Not my station.~   Paul called out to his OPs officer, "Open the transmission with the Orion vessel please."   "Yes Sir," came the expected response. In seconds he was facing that strange green 'gentleman' again.   "Starbase Geneva to OSS Sho'Kar.  Captain Forsch, you are cleared for arrival. You are instructed to interrupt your weapon energy flow on your vessels while in dock here as they must be powered down during the entirety of your stay in the area. Please standby to receive further docking instructions and proceed through customs after you are docked," stated Paul firmly.   (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (OSS Sho'Kar - Bridge - Lord Captain Gled Forsch - 1556) Gled waited patiently as the screen resolved into the control room of the station, the human on the screen appeared resigned to do his duty.   =^= Starbase Geneva to OSS Sho'Kar.  Captain Forsch, you are cleared for arrival. Please standby to receive further docking instructions and proceed through customs after you are docked." =^=   "Of course Geneva, we will do as you say, " Gled replied. "Move in to the space dock at 1/4 sub light." He said to his navigator. " We have an appointment with history to keep."   (Posted by Charles) (OSS Sho'Kar - Bridge - Lord Captain Gled Forsch - 1558) Gled looked menacingly at his De'Karan. "Did I not instruct you already to de-energize the weapons?" He asked after Geneva had signed off.   "Yes Lord." The weapons officer answered as he turned back with a frightened look at Gled.   "Do not cause me to make an example of you." Gled said dangerously.   The weapons officer nodded and gulped as Gled leaned forward. "Are the weapons off line now?" Gled knew they were because the tells said so.   "Yes Lord."   "Excellent." Gled leaned back again and waited for docking maneuvers.   (Posted by Charles) (OSS Sho'Kar - Bridge - Lord Captain Gled Forsch - 1605)   "1,000 kilometers Lord."   Gled nodded absently as the navigator shut down the engines and began to maneuver on thrusters. The ship decelerated almost imperceptibly as the forward thrusters kicked in, the station by now was filling the view screen. The minutes counted down as the maneuvers were completed until finally there was a sudden and near imperceptible bump. The navigator turned with a smile on his face.    "Docking maneuvers completed Lord."   "Excellent." The others turned to their Captain. "All of you know your assignments, I expect them to be carried out." He got up from the command chair and walked to the door that sealed off his official quarters while looking forward to stepping foot on the station. ~Gled, you are about to become one of the best known beings in the Galaxy.~   His laughter remained long after the door had shut.   (Posted by Charles) Mission: New Beginnings, Day 8 Stardate: 2406.12.31 (Starbase Geneva, Jeffries tube junction, SPC Oksana Vetaniuk, 0715)   Oksana heard her comm badge beep.  "McLaren to Vetaniuk, if you can spare anyone, I need a hand on deck 70."   Oksana tapped her communicator and responded.  "I'm on my way sir."  She said as she crawled out of the Jeffries tube junction.  She'd already finished rerouting the power through that relay and was going to see what was next on her 'to-do' list. However, this sounded important.   Once out of the confines of the Jeffries tubes, Oksana started out on her way to Deck 70.  As she walked, she saw several things in certain states of disrepair along the way.  ~Wow, we've sure got a long way to go before this station is completely operational.   As she came upon Deck 70, she quickly located Ensign McLaren (with the computer's help) and made her way up to him:  "Good morning, Ensign, what can I do for you?"  She asked politely.   (Posted by Katherine Mazurok) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 70, Reactor Beta, Ensign (JG) McLaren, 0726)   "Good morning, Ensign, what can I do for you?" Matthew stopped his work and turned to see the ensign behind him. "Morning," he said nodding politely. "Um I think I’ve tracked down the problem with the power drains to be linked with this reactor. Would you be able to check it out?" (Reply Vetaniuk) "Thanks Ensign. I have to go to a meeting in a minute but I can help you out for the moment. You can get anyone down here you need."   (Posted by Matthew McLaren) (Starbase Geneva, Observation Lounge, CO Lise Arianna, 0750)   "Good morning Captain."  Lise heard as she turned and saw Lt. Casely .   "Good morning, Lieutenant."  Lise said as she watched the other officers begin to file in.   "Captain, Lieutenant."  Lise heard the Counsellor state as she was one of the last officers to hurry in.  Lise nodded in reply to her greeting.   Lise listened to the report that her 2O gave regarding the state of the station.  She took special interest as she listened to the report about the potential of a chapter of Habitat for Humanity being aboard Geneva.  That wasn't something that she was quite prepared to deal with.  There were a few of these such racial purist groups that Lise had come in contact with in her own life (as she herself was of mixed heritage), and they were most unpleasant to have aboard.   Lise listened as Lt. Casely ended off his report, "Other than that, I want to say how pleased I am to be working with this staff.  Despite definite hardships over the last little while they have acted and reacted admirably."   Ensign McLaren then spoke of all the things that were going on engineering wise with the station.  As he spoke of the minor power grid problems that were onboard, Lise couldn't help but smile a little. ~I remember tracing that bloody line for days and not understanding how the power was being drawn and why, only to find that some shop keeper had placed some "highly sensitive" merchandise too close to the power grid lines~   As McLaren finished that sentence, Lise felt perhaps it would be pertinent to mention that information.   "I've tracked it down to be in reactor beta but we are still determining the problem as we speak.  Should only be a minor problem."   "Good Ensign.  Make sure that you take into account the power grid access points that the civilians and shopkeepers have access too.  Sometimes, irregular anomalies lie there and may not necessarily conform to our line of thinking.  Just keep that in mind."   McLaren went on to detail the personal consoles and other small things that were not yet in working order, but it sounded as if things were under control.  Lise nodded as she inputted the relative information into her PADD.   Major T'Vanek stated that he would indeed be reassigning some staff to help with the situation in Engineering.   Dr. Eistal detailed precisely what was occurring in sickbay.  Lise listened intently to her report.   The counsellor's report was quite interesting as well.  Lise tried to prevent her inward cringing when she was reminded about the eminent psychological profile that she would have to complete as that was most definitely NOT something that she was looking forward to.   However, she reasoned, if she made the appointment and got it over sooner rather than later.....  ~Maybe I should plan a red alert drill and schedule my profile for ten minutes before that time!!! ~  Lise thought, but made her mind stay on the meeting at hand.   Lise listened and took notes on the psychological profile of Mr. Benford.  It sounded indeed that this man's affiliation with his purist group could serve as problematic for many of the crewmembers of Geneva.  It would be something that would have to be watched -- carefully.   What struck Lise about the counsellor and her speech was her incredible manners.  She was so incredibly polite in everything that she did.  Lise nodded approvingly, it was an admirable quality in an officer and a useful tool in negotiation and she came by it so naturally.    "Umm... I believe you may have missed me, Sir.  I'm sorry...."   Lise looked up from her PADD to see the Grazerite scientist.  "My apologies, Doctor.  Please, what can you tell us."   Lise listened intently as he gave his report.  She couldn't help but feel that he seemed to lack confidence.  ~But perhaps that is part of his culture's customs~  She made a mental note to research more about the Grazerite culture as time permitted.  She wanted to make sure that each member of her crew felt like they had a place on Geneva and that it was unique and valued.   "Thank you, Doctor."  Lise said succinctly.  "That was most informative."   As the officers started to file out, Lise noticed that Casely made his way over to speak to her.  "I noticed, Sir, that you placed yourself in the early Ops duty.  I wonder what time period you'll be moving me to?"   Lise looked at the lieutenant across from her.  "I was just on this morning, as I am trying to re-familiarize myself with command.  My last posting --"  Lise hesitated a little,  " didn't quite follow the same protocols, I need to rehabitualize myself with duty.  For now, until we get things more sorted out, please continue on the morning duty shift.  I trust this suits you?" (Posted by Katherine) (Starbase Geneva, Observation Lounge, 2O/TAC/SC Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 0840)   Lise looked at the lieutenant across from her. I trust this suits you?"   "As you wish Captain. I may have to perform a few duties in the Security station at some point this morning as we do have to deal with Benford. Otherwise, I would be happy to work shift with you," said Paul nodding. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva - Observation Lounge - 2O/TAC/SC Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely - 0912) Paul waited calmly for the meeting to end and then walked over to Ensign Marta. He was a bit peeved with her at the moment as she more or less disregarded two sets of separate orders.   "Ensign... a word please... in private," stated Paul in such a way that it was relatively clear he wasn't asking.   (Reply Marta)   Paul walked into the empty FO's office and allowed the door to slide shut.   "Ensign, you disobeyed a direct order. I was fairly certain I told you to let me know before you went down there and to report to me when you'd finished. You failed to do either. While I understand some latitude is generally given to counsellors, this goes beyond what I'm willing to allow," stated Paul steadily and quietly. He was annoyed, true, but not really angry per se.   (Reply Marta)   Paul's gaze softened a bit. They were all under stress and he knew it. Everyone here had been put into a sink or swim situation, but he felt way over his head at times. He'd assumed his role of 2O/TAC/SC and had the role of FO thrust on him as well, at least temporarily.   "Listen, I know I'm the same age as you are and that I haven't been out of the Academy much longer then you have, but I still need you to follow orders Kassia. I have a tough enough job as it is right now. You put yourself at risk and could have slowed an investigation which needs to be carried out immediately," stated Paul plainly.   (Reply Marta)   "Just make sure you're more careful next time Ensign Marta," Paul said sternly as he walked out of the room.   (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva - Observation Lounge - Counselor - Ensign(JG) Kassia Marta - 0914) Kass saw Lt Casely had been a bit peeved that she had disobeyed what he had told her. She knew it was coming just had to wait till the meeting was over. She could kick herself for forgetting what he said about her going to see Mr. Benford. She squared her shoulders as he approached her. "Ensign... a word please... in private," Lt. Casely ordered her. "Aye sir" Kass replied then followed him. (Starbase Geneva - FO Office - Counselor - Ensign(JG) Kassia Marta - 0920) Kass followed Lt Casely into the office area where she had meet the Stations Captain, Captain Arianna. Lt. Casely then waited for the door to close behind them before he began. "Ensign, you disobeyed a direct order. I was fairly certain I told you to let me know before you went down there and to report to me when you'd finished. You failed to do either. While I understand some latitude is generally given to counselors, this goes beyond what I'm willing to allow," The Lt. stated quietly and in a steady voice. "Yes sir and it was not intentional. I was so engrossed with the case that it slipped my mind. I had been studying Mr. Benford and when I headed down there, I just kept running what I wanted to do in my mind. When I got there I was so nervous about making a mistake with him, that I made the mistake with your orders." Kass replied the first time she showed a bit of nervousness. She noticed that the Lt.'s way of looking at her softened a bit after her explanation. She thought that maybe he could see her nervousness for the first time. Since it was her first time maybe he was going to be easier on her than she needed. He had already made his point that she screwed up. The worst of it was that she had not even known it until she started to give her briefing. "Listen, I know I'm the same age as you are and that I haven't been out of the Academy much longer then you have, but I still need you to follow orders Kassia. I have a tough enough job as it is right now. You put yourself at risk and could have slowed an investigation which needs to be carried out immediately," The Lt. stated plainly. "I am sorry sir that I disobeyed your orders and I will try to make sure it does not happen again." She informed him and she was sincere in what she said. "Just make sure you're more careful next time Ensign Marta," The Lt said to her as he turned and left her alone in the office to think on what he had said. Kass stood there for a few minutes reflecting on the possible consequences that could have happened for her negligence. If Mr. Benford had been a hostile person that really hated other species and had somehow managed to get out of his cell, many things could have happened. She shuddered at the thoughts, which, made her suddenly scared enough to look around the office to make sure no one was there with her. She hurriedly exited the room, a bit upset that she was alone. Before she never felt alone as she had her symbiant and the memories from them, but, for some reason she felt as if they left her. (posted by Frank) (USS Jonas Salk- Bridge- Admiral Gr'iann- 0932)   "Admiral on the bridge," someone called out as Gr'iann stepped out of the turbolift.   The Caitian had never gotten used to that rank.  Deep down inside he always knew that he was Doctor before anything else.  The military ranks just seemed to follow him around.  As well as a certain amount of notoriety in the medical community.  Another aspect of his life that he felt a little uncomfortable with.    Being in charge of Starfleet medical, and all medical operations was a fulfilling position, but  he missed just being with patients.  Treating ailments, and finding the solutions to the daily problems that people found themselves in.  That was why he was looking forward to his up coming visit to Geneva.  He wanted to oversee the final installations of their new medical equipment.  And perhaps he can sneak off and have some fun for a while, playing doctor.   His whiskers quivered as the security men came to attention and saluted him.  "At eassse," he told them, with a little growl in the back of his throat.    Gr'iann made his way over to the captain of the Salk, the fleets flag medical ship.  "What's ourrr ETA, Captain Mmmoorrre."   Charlie Moore had been traveling with the Admiral for several days now.  He found the Caitian to be very grounded in reality, and even enjoyable to talk with.  Once you got past the fierce looking lion like of his appearance, there was a gentle soul.  Even a little playful.  He'd had an opportunity to watch him in sickbay and was amazed at the rapport he could have, especially with children.  But he still had trouble deciphering his speech pattern.   "We should be arriving at Geneva in about thirty minutes Admir... doctor."  He smiled remembering the admiral asking him to call him doctor rather than admiral.  It was the title he felt he had earned.  His rank was as much luck as anything else, he would say.   Gr'iann purred, his pleasure obvious.  he was really looking forward to this.  It was the first time he'd been allowed away from Phoenix since the war began.  He knew that Jopek and Robert were trying to protect him, but he assured them that he was more than capable of protecting himself.  The never looked convinced.  It was a good thing that Captain Lee was already preoccupied.   "Excuse me doctor," Charlie said.  "This is the USS Jonas Salk, to Starbase Geneva, we are on approach with Admiral Gr'iann on board, for an inspection of your new medical facilities.  We should be arriving  about 1000 hours."   (Posted by Al Muir)   (Starbase Geneva, Deck 62 Cell 2, 2O/TAC/SC Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely and Dean Benford, 0945) Dean sat on his bunk, half awake, half asleep... waiting. He had received his breakfast this morning. No secret messages this time... no more were necessary. Finally, he heard the door slide open to the holding area and in walked Lieutenant Casely. Dean shook his head, if only that one could discard his lofty notion of living on equal footing with aliens... it would be so much easier. Dean had even heard the captain was a half breed.   "Benford, you awake," asked Paul brusquely at the force field to Dean's cell. He detested this man and everything he stood for. Paul couldn't imagine how such an anachronism could still exist.   Benford stood up, straightened his clothing and picked a piece of invisible lint off his arm. "Of course Lieutenant. I've been awake for sometime now. While the service isn't bad, the accommodations are frightful. Have you ever tried to sleep on one of these things?" asked Dean as he pounded his hand on the bed which responded by making a dull thudding sounds.   "Too good for the likes of you," said Paul under his breath before catching his anger and continuing. "Mr. Benford, we are releasing you back into the station population. We will trust that there will be no further disturbances caused by you. If you are caught committing this kind of offense again, you could be sent off of the station," said Paul officiously.   "I understand Lieutenant," stated Benford as he stood up and waited for the force field to drop.   (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva - Counselor's Office- Counselor - Ensign(JG) Kassia Marta - 1000) The little talk that Casely had given her spurred her to do some evaluations and she had the person to start with, Ensign Matthew McLaren, the Assistant Engineering Officer. She wondered if she could possibly get him to meet with her. "Well nothing ventured nothing gained, they say" Kass said to herself "Counselor Marta to Ensign McLaren, I am sorry Ensign, but, Officer Evaluation is due. Could you please meet me in my office as soon as you could?" Kass said after tapping her commbadge (posted by Frank) (Starbase Geneva, Promenade, Station Head of Humans for Humanity Dean Benford, 1002)   Dean walked back onto the promenade immediately enjoying the large open space. He had learned his lesson and would ensure that he didn't do something so public or blatant again. After turning a few corners, Dean found what he was looking for and walked in through the door of a shop with a sign on it that said, "Under Renovation". In truth, his group had rented the store a long time ago and never had any intention of completing renovation.   Dean walked past the rows of nodding humans, a small few wearing Starfleet uniforms and being obviously off duty crewmen. A few told him they were glad to have him back, the normal platitudes. Dean walked through a door in the back and emerged into his office. He knew that news of his incarceration would have already reached the Synod and they would want answers. Within seconds the image of an older woman flickered on his view screen.   "Benford, what the hell do you think you were doing?" she asked, obviously angry and obviously used to having some measure of control.   Dean shrugged his shoulders and glared back, "It was a misstep, an error in judgement. It shall not happen again."   "See that it doesn't. You may have just jeopardized months of planning over your stupid stunt. Leave the front activities to those who won't lead back to us as quickly and who aren't as important to the movement," said the woman in a sarcastic and sugary tone.   Dean glared at the woman. He knew he was just as capable as she was and the reason he was hanging out here in the middle of nowhere was that she feared his influence. "Our people are in place. We have them nested through every official and unofficial group on this station. We're gathering information as we speak We know they are having some kind of party tonight. We'll have operatives there and we are thinking of staging something for their benefit."   "Just don't let it get tied to you, or us!" said the woman sharply as the transmission cut.   Dean sighed trying to let go of the anger and resentment he felt. He emerged from his office and began coordinating with his people. Everything had to be perfect for the evening.   (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva- Transporter room 1- Admiral Gr'iann- 1005)   Once the tingling sensation Gr'iann opened his eyes.  He hated traveling via the transporter but knew, intellectually, that it was safe and fastest.  As his green eyes opened he smiled a big, toothy smile at the group that, if you didn't know any better, might look a little threatening.   "Perrrmisssssion to commme aboarrrd?"  Gr'iann said.   (posted by Al Muir) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 62 TAC/SC’s office, 2O/TAC/SC Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1023)   Paul was immersed in his paperwork when suddenly his communicator chirped. ~Eh? What the heck?~ He thought.   "Casely here," stated.   =^=Admiral is coming aboard at Transporter Room 1 and we're too understaffed to send another command staff member to meet him. Please do the honours.=^= said a disembodied voice.   "Sure... sure... I'm on my way," said Paul. The day had just started and he was already feeling fatigued. He locked down his office equipment and his office and proceeded towards the turbo lift. ~An Admiral? I don't remember any communication about an Admiral... what the heck is he doing here?~ thought Paul as he proceeded towards transporter room 1. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron)   (Starbase Geneva, Deck 1, Transporter Room 1, 2O/TAC/SC Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1025)   Paul stepped out of the turbolift and started towards the transporter room with the beginnings of a joke involving a racist, an Orion and an Admiral. He walked into the transporter room to see a Caitian standing there with the definitive pips of an Admiral. Casely stepped forward to the Catian and stated firmly, "Admiral, welcome aboard Starbase Geneva, I am Lieutenant Paul Casely, the station's Second Officer. Please excuse the state of things right now, we're a bit understaffed and still cleaning up from the refit. The Captain would have come herself, but she's buried after taking command yesterday." Paul looked at the Catian. He always found their initial visage slightly alarming, but knew that most were relatively kind and gentle unless provoked. "Ummm... Sir, no messages or communiqués have come about you coming to Geneva, is there a problem sir?" Paul asked.   (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva- Deck 1- Transporter Room 1- Admiral Gr'iann & Lieutenant Casely- 1026)   "Admiral, welcome aboard Starbase Geneva, I am Lieutenant Paul Casely, the station's Second Officer. Please excuse the state of things right now, we're a bit understaffed and still cleaning up from the refit. The Captain would have come herself, but she's buried after taking command yesterday."   "Oh that's fine," Gr'iann began, quite happy to be met by anyone.  "I underrrstannnd about the rrrigorrrs of assummming a commmmmand."   He stretched out his paw to shake hands.  As Casely put his hand out as well, the Caitians claws came out to lightly touch the Lt.'s wrists, and then  retracted, a Caitian sign of trust.  He was pleased to see that the second officer didn't pull back from the gesture.  Either he understood, or he was just very trusting.   "Ummm... Sir, no messages or communiqués have come about you coming to Geneva, is there a problem sir?" Paul asked.   "No," Gr'iann smiled then turned around, looking carefully at the transporter room, "no problemmm.  I wanted to overrrsee the final installation of the new mmmedical facilities.  And I didn't want to have anyone go thrrrough any trrrouble, just forrr mmme."   Then he looked sheepishly at Casely, "And mmmaybe help out forrr a few days, just to get out of the office forrr a while." "Well Sir, at the moment we would appreciate any help we can get. Things are rather... crazy... here. Its like everyone realised the station was open for business and sent some of their worst representatives to come and meet us, present company excepted of course Sir," stated Paul with a grin. Gr'iann purred his amusement.  "Don't give mmme too mmmuch crrredit, Lt.  I mmmay still turrrn out to be mmmore trrrouble than I'mmm worrrth.  I don't want to keep you frrrommm yourrr duties.  If you could find sommmeone to help mmme find sickbay, then you can leave mmme to it.  And inforrrmmm yourrr captain that I will mmmeet with herrr when she has the timmme." Paul knew he had to get to the meeting with the Captain... it had sounded urgent but then the Admiral had arrived and his ordered had been delayed slightly. They simply needed more staff. "Certainly Sir," said Paul facing towards an ensign in Operations, "Ensign, I have a meeting with the Captain over a pressing issue. Could you please show the Admiral to Sickbay? I'm sorry Admiral, do you mind?" "Absolutely not," the Admiral said.  "I apprreciate you taking the timme to comme and mmeet mme.  Thank Lt. Casely." "It isn't a problem sir, I'm sorry I can't spend more time talking to you. Ummm... make sure you have the Ensign tell you about the gala ball tonight. We're all invited but you have to stop in to see Hagar on deck 27 to get tickets. The Ensign can take you, probably a good place to meet people, Sir." With that Paul hurried off to the meeting the Captain had called him to. He wondered what the 'situation' was. ~This place is just too busy and too understaffed.~ Gr'iann's ears twitched at the sound of a party.  His tail curled up a little, in a sign of mischievous pleasure.  It had been a while since he'd been to a social function.  This was definitely a must.  He turned to the ensign. "Lead on to sickbay, Ensign, lead on."  And he picked up his gear, not letting the Ensign get it, and followed him out the door. (posted by Al Muir and Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, COs Ready Room, CO Arianna, 1027)   Lise did not have to wait long, soon after the summons had been sent, Casely and T'Vanek entered her ready room.   "Reporting as Ordered, Sir."  Casely spoke.    Shortly thereafter, T'Vanek arrived.   "Alright Gentlemen!  We have a problem.  The good doctor, Engtamn-Jensi seems to have constructed a Dark matter/antimatter collector."  Lise paused for a moment seeing the two gentlemen across from her faces'  "That's not all."  She said, reluctantly.  "It has also gone missing."   (Posted by Katherine Mazurok) (Starbase Geneva, COs Ready Room, 2O/TAC/SC Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1032)   Shortly after Paul reported in to the captain, the marine commander he had spoken to the day before arrived. The Captain, looking definitely concerned and serious, began to speak.   "Alright Gentlemen!  We have a problem.  The good doctor, Engtamn-Jensi seems to have constructed a Dark matter/antimatter collector. That's not all."  She said, reluctantly.  "It has also gone missing."   Paul swallowed for a second allowing the full impact of her station to percolate in his mind. Blinking a couple times he replied, "He lost a what? I've never heard of such a thing. I didn't even know it was in development."   (Reply Arianna, T'Vanek)   Paul shook his head for a second again, "So what exactly does it do, and why is it such an issue? Beyond the theft of Starfleet property issue I mean of course."   (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva- Sickbay - Admiral Gr'iann- 1035)   Gr'iann stepped through the doors to sickbay and was shocked to see what he found there. It was completely devoid of activity. In fact, it was empty, except for the piles of unopened boxes of medical supplies. His whiskers quivered and ears stood straight up, showing his annoyance at the sight before him. ~Hmmm, so glad I rrushed to get these supplies to them.~ He turned to his escort an his whiskers twitched again.   "Thank you Ensign, that will be all."   The ensign shuffled his feet, sensing the Admirals annoyance and t hen quickly departed. Gr'iann sighed and put his belongings in the CMO's office, out of the way. Then he went to an unopened box and openned it. He began to take the contents out. It was full of innocuous equipment, that just simply needed to be inventoried and put away. He found the manifest and began to check the items in.   He had been at it shortly when the doors to the sickbay opened and a small entourage of people quickly crowded in, carrying an unconscious person. Gr'iann watched for a second and then stepped up to the group. "What do we have herrre?" the Caitian asked.   The closest people to him jumped in surprise. then they noticed his rank and jumped aggain. "Ummm... Admiral? Well... you see... this is Dr. Engtamn-Jensi. He was unconscious, so we brought him down here." "Unconscious?" he purred in interest.   Taking out his personal tricorder he ran a quick scan over the unconscious scientist.  He could barely tell that he was unconscious.  If he didn't see the depressed neural signature, he would have thought that he was faking it.  He was pretty certain how to deal with this one.   "If you don't mmind," Gr'iann said, moving everyone away from the prostrate scientist.  He leaned in close and began a low purr in the back of his throat.   Monitoring his life signs he raised and lowered the tone of his purr until he found one that affected his autonomic system.  Then he started to purr with earnest.  The CSO began to stir, and finally he smiled.   Gr'iann reached out with one paw and his claws extended out of their sheaths.  Very slowly, he reached over.  His claws were millimeters away, and moved down to the posterior end of his body.  The Caitians purring became a  little louder, and the tone changed.  Suddenly his claws made contact with his buttocks, and Gr'iann's purr turned into a snarl.   The Grazerite shot upright, almost falling off the table.  Gr'iann nodded.  "Therre you go.  He'll be just fine."   (posted by Al Muir) (Starbase Geneva- Sickbay - Acting Science Officer - Doctor Engtamn-Jensi - 1042)   Darkness... beautiful peaceful darkness. In the black of the moment, the troubles were forgotten at least for the moment. Engtamn felt like he was happily floating... he saw home... his beautiful green planet. Suddenly, he heard a soothing sound... like that of a housecat. He felt himself relax further and his breathing slow to a more regular pace. Then... out of nowhere he got the signal of an animal about to pounce and HE was the prey! His natural alarms and defenses intensified. Then, suddenly he heard a growl and began to bolt instinctively for safety! And he saw... the Geneva Medical Center! Just as he cried out in terror.   As his eyes began to adjust he saw he was lying on a biobed with several medical personnel including a... an... ADMIRAL... staring at him... a catlike hungry looking admiral... Engtamn bolted off the biobed and behind a desk where he crouched down and hid.   His voice quavering, Engtamn spoke, "P...please don't hurt me..."   (Reply Gr'iann, any others there)   Suddenly, Engtamn remembered the original source of his distress and said, while still cowering under the desk, "Please... please let me go and don't hurt me... I need to see the Captain. Someone stole it... we have to find it. I need to make her understand."   (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva- Sickbay - Admiral Gr'iann- 1043)   His voice quavering, Engtamn spoke, "P...please don't hurt me..."   Gr'iann looked quizzically at the cowering figure with a cross between bewilderment and curiosity.  He stepped forward to help him up.  "Do not worrrry doctorr.  You arre in no danger."   Engtamn reared away, trying to get tighter into a corner.  "Please... please let me go and don't hurt me... I need to see the Captain. Someone stole it... we have to find it. I need to make her understand."   The Caitian went into calming mode.  .The tone his purr was giving off now was beyond normal range of hearing, meant to affect the central nervous system, causing most species to relax.   "I assurre you doctorr, you arre not in dangerr," Gr'iann insisted.  "Now, please, comme out of therre and tell mme what you'rre talking about."   (posted by Al Muir) (Starbase Geneva- Sickbay - CSO - Ensign {SG} Doctor Engtamn-Jensi - 1049)   Engtamn was scared... terrified even. This 'creature' so much resembled the hyrals of his planet that used to eat his species, at least until they were all rounded up and sent to another planet created as a preserve for them. After all, it wasn't the hyral's fault... they were just doing what was natural for them. Engtamn blinked with his large, brown liquid eyes. Suddenly, he began to feel a bit more at ease. He poked his head out and looked fully at the 'admiral'.   "I assurre you doctorr, you arre not in dangerr," Gr'iann insisted.  "Now, please, comme out of therre and tell mme what you'rre talking about."   Engtamn felt his voice quavering as he answered, "J-just don't eat me. That's all I ask... sir." With that he slowly began to come out from underneath the desk.   (Reply Gr'iann)   "I... I can't tell you what I'm talking about here, sir. It... it isn't secure...I'm sorry," said Engtamn putting his hands up as if waiting to fend off an attack.   (Reply Gr'iann)   Engtamn held his breath in anticipation, "You... can probably find out from the Captain... or... or for yourself at some point. But... I... I... signed an agreement... level 4 security... sorry... please don't eat me..."   (Reply Gr'iann)   For some reason, Engtamn was starting to feel a bit less apprehensive now and started to walk out from behind the furniture. He was still scared viewing the large predatorial beast in a Starfleet uniform, but his reason began to kick in. ~If he's Starfleet, how can he eat me, and not get into trouble?~ Engtamn began to walk for the door. "I really have to see the Captain now sir... I'm sorry Sir... " said Engtamn as he began to exit.   (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Sickbay, CO Arianna, 1100)   Having heard of the new arrival, Lise felt that she should make her way to greet him.  She entered sickbay and looked for the Caitian Admiral.  Upon locating him, she went over to his position.  "Good morning Admiral.  I'm Captain Lise Arianna, daughter of the house of Kre'Tos.  I apologise for my neglecting to welcome you aboard this morning.  I trust you have found your way around Geneva?  Is there anything else you require?"   (Reply Gr'iann) (Starbase Geneva- Sickbay- CMO- Admiral Gr'iann- 1103)   "J-just don't eat me. That's all I ask... sir." With that Engtamn slowly began to come out from underneath the desk.   "I can assurre you, that I won't," Gr'iann was beginning to get annoyed, and was contemplating the idea that eating him would at least end his whining.  "Now tell mme what is going on herre."   "I... I can't tell you what I'm talking about here, sir. It... it isn't secure...I'm sorry," said Engtamn putting his hands up as if waiting to fend off an attack.   Now the Caitian was very curious indeed.  He seemed to remember seeing a report by a Dr. Engtamn-Jensi come across his desk, but he hadn't gotten to it yet.    Engtamn held his breath in anticipation, "You... can probably find out from the Captain... or... or for yourself at some point. But... I... I... signed an agreement... level 4 security... sorry... please don't eat me..."   "Level 4," Gr'iann tried to sound impressed.  "I do have the appropriate clearance Ensign"  He emphasized the rank.  "And I amm not in the habit of eating those I serrve with."   "I really have to see the Captain now sir... I'm sorry Sir... " said Engtamn as he began to exit.   Once Doctor Engtamn-Jensi had left Gr'iann watched the door close with curiosity.  He would have to find out what that was all about.  He returned his attention to unpacking the boxes.  Now he had some help.  he began dirrecting the medical staff.  Which was just aswell, since they probably knew where everything belonged.   He heard the doors open and turned to see a young woman enter, with some interesting features.  It was the light, cranial ridges that he found most interesting.  Somewhere along the line she has Klingon blood in her.  It must be Captain Arianna   "Good morning Admiral.  I'm Captain Lise Arianna, daughter of the house of Kre'Tos.  I apologise for my neglecting to welcome you aboard this morning.  I trust you have found your way around Geneva?  Is there anything else you require?"   Gr'iann stood up to his full height and smiled.  "Ahh Captain.  Thank you.  You didn't need to comme down herre.  I have been escorrted quite satidfactorrily.  And I have not felt neglected at all.  Although you have quite an interesting scientist on boarrd, who might be looking forr you rright now with a bit of a dilemma."   (reply Lise)   "I would like to have an chance to talk with you in prrivate," Gr'iann said.  "When you have timme.  Perrhaps we could have lunch togetherr?"   (posted by Al Muir) (Starbase Geneva - Turbolift - CSO - Ensign {SG} Doctor Engtamn-Jensi - 1107)   The panic in Engtamn had greatly subsided with him leaving the Medical Center. He had to get to the Captain's officer and talk to her, but he had to do many other things as well. He tapped his comm badge while he waited for the turbolift to reach its destination.   "Doctor Engtamn-Jensi to Ensign McLaren, are you there?" he stated in a more forceful manner than was his norm.   (Reply McLaren)   "I'm enroute to the Captain's office, but I need... ummm... some equipment. Can you find me a small sensor array? I'll need to detect energy pulse both active and latent. Please don't ask me what for, I just need it," said Engtamn softening his tone to one more regular for him.   (Reply McLaren)   "Well, get together what you can and bring it to my office on deck 113. I'll be there momentarily. I might need your help with something... but... you can't ask what I'm doing or why... sorry..." said Engtamn before he cut the transmission.   NRPG: Enjoy finding the parts/items needed Matthew. I'm looking forward to seeing where you get them from... :-)   RPG: Engtamn then stepped off the the turbolift and walked to the COs office and pressed the chime... no one answered. ~Engtamn, you're an old fool... you should have checked before you came up,~he thought, knowing full well that his panic had superseded all logic. Engtamn turned around and walked back to the turbolift.   "Computer, could you please tell me where Captain Arianna is?" Engtamn requested.   [Captain Arianna is in the Medical Center]   Engtamn sighed, "Thank you computer." He didn't want to waste great amounts of time wandering around but knew he should report in. He tapped his comm badge.   "Ummm... excuse me, Captain Arianna? Its Doctor Engtamn-Jensi... I went to your office but you were gone. I'm enroute to my office now. Ensign McLaren is going to meet me with some parts we might be able to use to track down my missing...ummm... instrument. Do you want me to stop in to you first, or go right to there?" asked Engtamn softly and politely.   (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva – Corridor - ACMO - Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie, 1150)   Having just arrived on the Starbase, Kaitlyn immediately felt like she was at home again. It had been awhile since she had been gone because of the repairs to the Starbase. But when Kaitlyn heard she could transfer back, she immediately put in a request.   Walking down the corridors, she remembered a lot and memories of the good, as well as the bad times, were brought back. There were some things that looked a lot different, she surmised it was because of the remodeling type things it had undergone.   As she walked down the rest of the hallway, she spotted the turbolift and got inside.   "Deck one," she called out. She patiently waited as the lift went up the various decks and finally stopped at deck one. Getting out, she immediately spotted the captain's ready room. Heading over to it, she rang the chime and awaited a response.   (Posted by: Stacey) (Starbase Geneva - Counselor's Office- COUNS - Ensign(JG) Kassia Marta - 1200 ) Sitting listening to people talk about themselves, their hopes, dreams, successes, and perceived failures, made for a stressful day for Kass. She had to keep an ear out for the mental tendencies that would signal possible instability which she would have to report to the captain. Then came the inevitable report on each one that she had to maintain, so, she could compare with the last evaluation they had. The play and masquerade ball seemed something that could possibly help her relax after a strenuous day. When she had stepped out to get something to eat and relax between patients, she stopped by Ms. Hagar to pick up her ticket. She also had a little time to think of what she wanted to wear during the ball, but, had not been able to get it at that point. She was going to shut down the office shortly as she had no more scheduled visits. That way she would have enough time to get ready for the Play and Ball. Kass had also been giving the talk she had with Mr. Benford some thought. She had not liked the way their conversation had ended and wanted to talk with him some more. She really wanted another chance to get through to him that his way of thinking was not right. She could not talk to him in an official capacity as he was no long incarcerated or a patient. There was also one giant problem with talking to him, Lt. Casely had him under surveillance which meant that he was under investigation. For her to contact him could be construed as hampering the investigation which could get her in trouble with him once again. She did not want to become one of the Lt.'s trouble children, so, she decided to put the man on the back burner so to speak. But, if the occasion presented itself, she would not run away from it. (Posted by Frank) (Starbase Geneva - Quarters - COUNS - Ensign(JG) Kassia Marta - 1340) Kass had closed her office early in hopes to at least procure the dress that she would wear that evening. She had stopped by one of the Clothing shops on the promenade to look at them and had found one, with the help of an attendant, that they thought would be appropriate. She had a fitting with the gown and the attendant had told her that it would be ready in time for the ball. There were a few alterations that had to be made, a little in take here and there, a little out here and there, then it would be perfect for her. She had also procured a mask of the same color that would go with the gown. The attendant indicated that she would make sure that the gown would be in her quarters after the play. Kass had then returned to her quarters to freshen up for the play and she decided to wear one of her dresses that she had worn many times at home for different special occasions. She would take time to change for the ball. After letting her hair down and getting ready she headed out for the play. (Posted by Frank) (Starbase Geneva, Main Operations Deck 1, 2O/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1407)   Paul strolled back and forth on the Operation Deck. Only a short time ago Captain Arianna had asked him to complete the shift so she could attend the dramatic production. Paul didn't even have to think about that one, he was more than happy to let her go to a play so he could stay here. He felt at home in Main Operations in the same way he had felt at home on the bridge of the Nimitz. ~Well, maybe not quite as at home as I felt on the Nimitz,~ Paul thought grinning as he remembered the ship and crew. Consorting with Holis, drinking with K'ven, wondering what Zzt would do next to betray his ties to the animal world. He wondered how they were right now... where they were.   Paul snapped out his daydream and walked over and plunked himself down in the command chair. He had been working on command courses since he was on the Nimitz. Captain Sash had insisted that he get command training when he was promoted to TAC/SC... could it be that Paul had found his first, best destiny?   "Ensign? Do we have any scheduled arrivals or departures this afternoon?" requested Paul.   The Ensign tapped some of the controls and brought up some of the scheduled information.   "Sir, we have G-3023, the Swift, and G-1004, the Express, both are Federation freighters, they should be arriving at 1521 and 1600 respectively, we also have NAK-63212, a merchant marine vessel called the Aloha on the way. Their ETA is 1822, but apparently they might arrive early. Otherwise, there is nothing scheduled," stated Ensign Yalrath.   Paul considered this for a moment. ~No non-Federation craft scheduled. Oh well, slow day,~ he mused. "Well, by the sound of it, its the unscheduled ships we should be looking out for. Be sure you keep me apprised of any odd arrivals. If in doubt, scan first ask questions later," said Paul tapping a few keys on his console.   Paul sat there staring out into the void of space. He couldn't help wondering what the rest of the crew was doing during the play.   (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 62 TAC/SC’s office, 2O/TAC/SC Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1712)   Paul sat and worked, cataloguing the day's events. It had been another long, eventful day. He wondered if they would all be like that from here on. ~Oh well, never a dull moment,~ he thought as he continued his 'paperwork' shrugging his shoulders. Paul didn't enjoy paperwork, but he knew few Starfleet officers who actually did. ~Its a necessary evil,~ he thought as he grabbed the next PADD.   A few minutes later his chronoalarm when off. ~Oh right, Hagar's party,~ Paul remembered. He had picked up the ticket to the ball several hours before when he crossed the promenade in a routine patrol. Paul knew the captain expected him... expected the whole crew if they were available... at this party. He locked down his system and started towards the door. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Personal Quarters, 2O/TAC/SC Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1730)   Paul considered his options. He had just finished taking a sonic shower and was ready  to don  his costume for the masquerade ball. He looked at the choices he had narrowed things down to three choices. Finally, Paul settled on a Red Knight costume with red velvet tabard with embossed lion, attached cape, black velvet long sleeve shirt, black pants, and boot tops. He replicated a sword modeled on one held by a nobleman in one of the German principalities of Earth's distant past and began to put on the regalia. Then it dawned on him, ~this is a masquerade, I need a suitable mask~.   Paul began to look through the options available. He finally settled on a leather Gatubela mask, red with a black stripe running down the centre. The mask was appealing as it had almost a draconian look to it, sweeping oddly on the sides. He affixed it, hoping that he didn't look to silly and prepared to go to the party. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron)   (Starbase Geneva, Ballroom, 2O/TAC/SC Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1804) Paul walked fully garbed into the ballroom. He did feel a bit self-conscious, but that ceased as he saw the brightly coloured costumes and masks before him. It was time to mingle now and enjoy in the fun. He looked forward to the eventual unmasking but could definitely 'pick out' more than a few of his crewmates in the crowd.   (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva - Ball Room - COUNS – Ensign (JG) Kassia Marta - 1840) Kass had entered and found her seat a few precious moments before the play started. She had not understood the play, but, she did think that the acting was superb, some of the best she had seen. But then again she had not seen very many plays in her time. She had looked around the theater at the attendees and it seemed that they were enjoying it also. They seemed be relaxing and she thought to herself that maybe there should be more of them for the crew to have a way of relaxing. She might have to mention it to the Captain at a later date. Kass had politely gotten up at the end of the play to clap along with everyone else then exited to return to her quarters. There she indeed did find the gown that she had purchased earlier and proceeded to get ready for the ball. Thankfully the play had not lasted so very long, so, she would not be too late. As she had finished getting the gown on and adjusting her hair, she looked into the mirror at herself. She wondered if the low bustline was inappropriate or not. She liked the maroon and white color of the dress with the matching choker. The mask also matched in color and had a holder that was to help her hold it in place. Since she was ready, she thought, off to the Ball Room she went. As she entered the ball room, she placed the mask up as it was suppose to be, then, scanned the ball room to see who had already arrived. There were many that she did not recognize until she saw Lt. Casely. She walked over to him, "Good evening Sir" she said to him with a curtsey. (posted by Frank) [END COMPILE]
