I do believe that the more that we investigate and tie our findings with the other teams findings, we will come to understand what they were actually wanting." "I agree," put in Dorrin, "Our biggest obstacle right now is a lack of information, the more we know the better. "Why don't we all go back and research on our own?" Brian asked. I guess we can, but, I suggest that we meet back up to discuss what we find before the meeting. So Klars, lets see what we can find to finish the message. Also, let him do what he can, it seems that he might work better alone and that is ok for now." said Kass. Dorrin disagreed. This was supposed to be a team effort, words he would obviously have to define to Rogers later. To Dorrin, Rogers was a glory seeker nothing more, the same as the guy who Dorrin suspected let his brother die, so he could bring home some critical information. That same guy was a captain of a starship now, which angered Dorrin. That same anger was starting to come up now, an anger so strong that his vision was beginning to be obscured by a haze of red. He forced himself to come down and begin to try to find what information he could. "Let's start, " he said with great difficulty. (Posted by Dan Black) (Starbase Geneva, Library, ATAC Ensign Dorrin Klars, 1253) "Hello, Ensigns. I didn't get much on my research. How did you fare?" Ensign Rogers asked. "Well there was not much more than what we already discussed and the what they meant by Taylor just lead to too many references to understand that one." Kass said in reply. "Well, I think we should head to the meeting as I am hungry." Dorrin felt the same anger start to creep up the second he saw Rogers. He didn't know for sure why there was such an affect, he was usually a very rational person. But he could guess, his brother Ilsrath was his role model, his favorite person in the galaxy, it was his death that got Dorrin into the fleet, any reminder was very painful. Dorrin was forced to once again fight down that red haze. "Very well" he said "let's head there. (Posted by Dan Black) (Starbase Geneva, Library, Counselor Kassia Marta, 1255) Kass could see that Dorrin was being on his best behavior in front of her. She thought that he did not want to show just how much he disliked either what Brian was doing or Brian altogether. It could be some memory that Brian reminded Dorrin of that caused such a reaction. She just could not tell and frankly did not care at that time as they were behaving themselves. She was hungry and did not want to play referee between them. "Very well" he said "let's head there." Kass watched as Dorrin started out ahead of the group. She looked at Brian, shrugged her shoulders and waved him on after Dorrin. (Posted by Frank Rogers) (Starbase Geneva, Headquarters, Humans for Humanity Station Leader, Dean Benford, 1256) Dean watched as a dozen black leather clad men and women quick marched into his office. They carried a non-descript looking plasma rifle and had helmets with open visors. One stepped forward, "Sir, we are prepared and ready to disembark," stated a large muscled woman. Dean nodded, "How will you bypass the station security?" "Sir, we have had our contact bypass the security protocols for the assault craft. It should provide us with no problems at all," stated the woman. Dean grinned to himself. The key individuals in the group's assault sector were, for the most part, former Starfleet Marines. They took the younger members and moulded them into effective fighting machines. They definitely had an excellent idea of Starfleet protocols and how to bypass them. "And the tractor beam?" "Non-functional, Sir. We've looked after every contingency. As soon as we disembark, we'll raise our shields so they can't transport anyone on or off," stated the woman. "Telepaths?" asked Benford, knowing that one curious telepath could ruin the entire thing. "Mary had a little lamb, its fleece was white as snow..." stated the woman with a grin, "and they don't know anything really, but are still repeating the same rhyme." "Understood. Prepare for planet fall. Meet with the rebel humans and aid them. Do you have the 'product'?" asked Benford, knowing that several cases of plasma rifles had been loaded onboard. "Yes Sir, we are transporting directly to the ship and will disembark within an hour," stated the woman. "Proceed!" stated Benford. With that the woman walked back with her troops and touched a portion of her armband. She raised her hand, palm forward. "For the cause!" she stated as the group shimmered out of sight. Benford nodded. He knew that the flight preparations would take a little while longer and they'd be away, no diplomacy and no foolishness. His group would help the humans on that planet make the aliens pay. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8 Officer's Lounge, ATAC Ensign Dorrin Klars , 1258) Dorrin stepped into the Lounge and saw that some officer's were already there. He sat down without taking anything to eat, to think about what was already known, and to get the emotions rampaging through him in control. (posted by Dan Black) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8 Officer's Lounge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1259) Paul watched as Engtamn tore through a plate of the dish native to his home planet. He grinned, wondering how he would feel if he was cut off from a hamburger and fries for a number of years. Then, Ensign Klars entered the room. Paul looked over and nodded at his ATAC. ~Still no engineers, that's problematic...~ Paul knew one was languishing in sickbay, but the other hadn't been heard from in some time. Paul tapped his comm badge. "Lieutenant Casely to Engineering, where is Ensign de'Charin please?" Paul asked. =^=Sir, this is Chief Petty Officer Rourke. Ensign de'Charin is currently working on a station malfunction. Apparently there is beta radiation leaking in one of the lower decks. It isn't hazardous to life, but it is interfering with communications. He might be tied up for some time. He'll let you know as soon as he's available.=^= "Understood. We do need the ranking officer after him from engineering here then to update us on what you've found. Ensign McLaren is out of commission. Who comes next?" asked Paul. =^=I'm one of the more senior members of the staff. I'm not a commissioned officer, but I can try to brief you sir, if you'd like?=^= "That would be fine Chief. The sooner you can get here the better," stated Paul. =^=Understood Sir, I'm on my way.=^= With that dealt with, Paul turned his attention back to Ensign Klars. "Klars, grab yourself a plate. This is supposed to be a lunch meeting after all. You might as well get some food, you might not have a chance to eat again for awhile depending on the decisions made after we hear about what each of you found," stated Paul. (Reply Klars) Paul grinned. "So how was your morning, working with the counsellors I mean? Learn anything?" asked Paul. He imagined it would be good for Klars to acquaint himself with other crew members and hoped that the experience had allowed him to figure out how he might be able to work with other members of the crew. As Klars answered, Paul stood up and took a plate himself, filling it with different dishes from the various worlds of the Federation. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva- Deck 8 Officer's Lounge- CMO- Admiral Gr'iann- 1300) Gr'iann entered the room with Doctor Engtamn-Jensi . They had managed to work the rest of the morning without incident, and accomplished a great deal. Gr'iann never boasted of his abilities with electronics, but he figured he doubled his knowledge in the area this day. The air of the room was filled with many various smells, most of which Gr'iann did not recognize. The one scent he did recognize, though, was that of Kaitlyn Mackenzie. He couldn't help but smile. It seemed that Engtamn seemed to be sniffing the air and finding something he did recognize. He got quite excited. The Grazerite moved over to a table and clapped. "Albucca! You had them make albucca! I haven't had that since I left Grazerite! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Gr'iann watched in amazement as Engtamn piled his plate with the colorful, vegetation, which had an ominous odor to it. It smelled faintly of... fertilizer. But Engtamn kept holding his plate to his nose and smelling it as he moved past the other foods. As Gr'iann walked along he did notice something that he hadn't seen in a while. There was a traditional dish that Caitians prepared for major banquets. Gr'iann smiled a big toothy grinned and looked up at Casely and Mackenzie. He put some on his plate and moved over towards the pair. "Lt. Casely," he nodded, then smiled at Mackenzie, "Kaitlyn, how arre you two? Has yourr efforrts this mmorrning been successful?" (reply Mackenzie, Casely) The door opened and they noticed Klars Dorrin enter. His mood seemed a little dark. It reminded Gr'iann that there was a thought about the language of the aliens that came to him. he'd have to bring it up and see if they had noticed the similarity. However, Casely took that moment to leave Gr'iann and Mackenzie, and went to talk with the counselor. Now that they were alone Gr'iann looked at Kaitlyn with a serious look in his eye. "Kaitlyn, I rreally want to appologize forr this mmorrning. I rreally don't know what got into Doctorr Engtamn. He is rreally quite nice once you get to know himm." (reply Mackenzie) "I also wanted to get a chance to rreinvite you forr ..." he tried to think with his hands, but the plate of food made it difficult, then someone else interrupted him (posted by Al Muir) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8, Officer's Lounge, COUNS Ensign (JG) Brian Rogers, 1301) Brian walked into the officer's lounge behind Klars and Kass and looked around. He saw a few of the officers were here. Brian was feeling oddly since his day dream earlier so he didn't bother to eat. He spotted Kaitlyn talking to Casely and Gr'iann. Even though he 'hit it off' with Kaitlyn last night, he still was some what shy around women and plus he could never manage to look Gr'iann in the eye after his odd dream so he sat at the table and began going over his PADDs and trying to figure out how to present it to the senior staff. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva-Officer's Lounge-ACMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-1301) "Lt. Casely," he nodded, then smiled at Mackenzie, "Kaitlyn, how arre you two? Has yourr efforrts this mmorrning been successful?" Kaitlyn looked away from Paul to Gr'iann. ~Great....I know he's going to ask me. What am I going to do this time?~ She had almost welcomed Dr. Engtamn-Jensi's behavior earlier. She like Gr'iann, she really did, but something just struck her as odd about him. For one, he constantly followed her like a lost puppy. ~Kitty.....,~ she corrected herself. She felt as if she was being stalked or something. Knowing she could handle herself, she didn't really think security was necessary and she would rather not have liked to make a report about it. ~I need to figure out why he follows me so much.....~ "Kaitlyn, I rreally want to appologize forr this mmorrning. I rreally don't know what got into Doctorr Engtamn. He is rreally quite nice once you get to know himm." "Well I'm not sure what got into him either, but it was odd, that's for sure." She took another sip of her coffee while Gr'iann talked. "I also wanted to get a chance to rreinvite you forr ..." he tried to think with his hands, but the plate of food made it difficult, then someone else interrupted him. Kaitlyn was thankful that he had been interrupted, but she also felt bad. It had to take great courage to ask someone out again, and she knew that's what he was getting at. The shaking hands and trembling whiskers told her all she needed to know. It was then silent for a little while since they had been interrupted. Kaitlyn ate and sat in her chair in silence for awhile until Paul begun the meeting. (Posted by Stacey) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8 Officer's Lounge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1302) Paul watched as more officers entered the room. Both counsellors came in on the heals of Ensign Klars. Paul could see some of them starting to move through the food line. He watched as Gr'iann grinned and put some of a Caitian traditional dish onto his plate and move on, he called out to the pair, "Lt. Casely," he nodded, then smiled at Mackenzie, "Kaitlyn, how arre you two? Has yourr efforrts this mmorrning been successful?" "Success is a relative thing Admiral. I'm looking forward to assembling our data overall after we get some food in us," stated Paul with a sad smile. He had made some headway, but it really wasn't as much as they'd hoped. Paul then watched as a gentleman in his forties walked into the room dressed in standard issue yellow with the rank of chief petty officer on his collar. He looked around a bit self- consciously until he spied Paul and walked over. Paul watched, with some amusement, as the Engineering Chief he figured was Rourke snapped to full attention. "Chief Petty Officer Alan Rourke reporting as ordered, SIR!" Paul grinned, "At ease Mr. Rourke. No reason to be on parade here. Help yourself to some food and get to know some of the senior staff." "Yes, Lieutenant," came the reply as the Chief moved towards the buffet table. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8 Officer's Lounge, ATAC: Dorrin Klars, (1303) "So how was your morning, working with the counsellors I mean? Learn anything?" Dorrin took a plate without really looking at what he put on it. He wondered how to answer the Lt. question, and decided that he had to make sure that the Lt. knew of all the emotions that went on in the group for future reference. "It isn't making sense. Most of the references point to the military, and a emergency, or a medical situation, or all three. That is if you take out the references that don’t have to do with anything of what I just mentioned." Dorrin paused to take a breath and a bite. Here's the thing Lt. when you are trying to decipher a language from historical references, it is usually a doomed task. I don't say that because I am pessimistic, I say that because we don't know how these people think, how they evolved, what their way of life is. All that can be offered is possibilities all of which can be wrong, because to know a language you have to be able to think in it, and none of us do." Dorrin caught himself lecturing and realized that wasn't smart to do. "I apologize, at times I lecture without meaning to." Dorrin lowered his voice, " As for the counselors, Marta I have no problem with, but Rogers I do. I don't like or trust him, he went off by himself after the meeting forcing us to find him. To me that is a glory seeker, and I don't make give that title lightly. But the fact is, early in my life, a tragedy befell me, from one such as they, so I admit I am a but prejudiced. (posted by Dan Black) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8 Officer's Lounge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1304) Paul listened to first the 'lecture' from the junior officer, and then about his concerns about Ensign Rogers. Paul frowned a bit and lowered his voice so only Dorrin could hear him. "Well, Mr. Klars... about the language issue, I look forward to your full report during the briefing, including what the other two Ensigns have to add. As for Ensign Rogers, there is something... not right... about him. One of the reasons I wanted you there with him was the Captain has been sensing some odd 'vibes' from him. However that being said, even if you hate the man, you're both Starfleet officers and you have to work together. I expect you to behave in a courteous and proper manner towards him at least when you're on duty. If there are specific problems that you feel I need to discuss with him, tell me and I'll do so as I expect the same from him. Keep an eye on him, tell me about anything that seems odd, but otherwise do your duty and your best to work smoothly with him during assignments," stated Paul in a hushed tone. (Reply Klars) "Thank you Ensign, I'm sure you can. You're doing a good job so far, and all the senior officers are useful and valued members of this crew. There is no reason to worry about one officer 'grabbing glory' from another. We're a team, an ensemble, we all need each other. If we're successful, its because of all of us and not one of us, and I know that. Do your best, do your duty, follow orders, and you can never go wrong," stated Paul with a smile. "Academy lecture over! Now lets eat!" (Reply Klars) On his way back to the table, the Chief Petty Officer from Engineering arrived and reported in. Paul sent him to get some food and rejoined the rest of the senior staff at the table. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8 Officer's Lounge, Counselor Kassia Marta, 1305) Kass and Brian stepped through the door of the Officer's lounge a moment or so behind Klars. She stopped at the door to take in the wonder array of aromas coming from the different entrees that had been prepared for the officers. She walked over to where the food had been set up, grabbed a plate and started looking over the different items when she came across her favorite Trill delicacy called Saellodu, a type of salad that was made of the various plants from her home world. The dish had strips of an animal over the top of it with something liking to what Terrans called shredded cheese. She covered her plate with the dish as much as she thought she could eat as she had not had it since she went to the Academy. She then retrieved a tumbler of water then turned to see where Klars had parked himself. She noticed that Paul was talking to him and she hoped that Paul was telling him to get something to eat as it was going to be a very long day. She sauntered over close by to listen to the conversation a bit before bothering them. She wanted to be sure that she would not be bothering them in an important conversation. "So how was your morning, working with the counsellors I mean? Learn anything?" asked Paul. (Klars, any) Kass watched as Paul listened to what Klars had to say as they both moved over to the line to get food. She decided that she would not follow them as it could make Klars a bit annoyed and he was already upset enough. She sat down in one of the chairs adjacent to where Klars had originally sat down and waited for them. She also watched to see if Brian would come over to sit with her. While she waited for them she noticed what she thought to be a CPO walk into the room and report to Paul. The man looked a bit out of place and wanted to put him at ease, so, when he passed through the buffet line, she stood up. "Excuse me, Was it Chief Petty Officer Rourke? Would you like to sit with me and my group?" She asked with a shy warm smile but then had to rephrase after looking to see that she was still alone. "Well the small group I think will be joining us?" (Rourke, Klars, Brian, Paul, any) "Oh yes My name is Kassia, I am the chief counselor of the station. I hope that doesn't bother you, me being a counselor." She said as she sat back down waiting to see if he was going to join her or not. (posted by Frank) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8 Officer's Lounge, ATAC, Ensign Dorrin Klars, 1306) "Well, Mr. Klars... about the language issue, I look forward to your full report during the briefing, including what the other two Ensigns have to add. As for Ensign Rogers, there is something... not right... about him. One of the reasons I wanted you there with him was the Captain has been sensing some odd 'vibes' from him. Keep an eye on him, tell me about anything that seems odd, but otherwise do your duty and your best to work smoothly with him during assignments." Dorrin's suspicion of Rogers increased after what the lt. said, but Dorrin responded "yes sir." "Thank you Ensign, I'm sure you can. You're doing a good job so far, and all the senior officers are useful and valued members of this crew. There is no reason to worry about one officer 'grabbing glory' from another. We're a team, an ensemble, we all need each other. If we're successful, its because of all of us and not one of us, and I know that. Do your best, do your duty, follow orders, and you can never go wrong. Academy lecture over! Now lets eat!" Dorrin nodded, stifled a laugh and decided to actually pay attention to what he was eating, and found that he needed to get another plate. After he was finished getting food that was actually edible he went to join Counselor Marta. (posted by Dan Black) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8 Officer's Lounge, Engineer, Chief Petty Officer Alan Rourke, 1307) Alan felt a bit better after reporting in to the Lieutenant. He had heard about Lieutenant Casely, but never seen him. He knew the Lieutenant was the Acting First Officer of the station, and could be a bit of a taskmaster at times, of course the station wasn't reacting in the best of ways and the Lieutenant was under some undue stress, so he could sort of see where he was coming from. At any rate, Casely seemed friendly enough. Alan walked over to the buffet and gingerly picked up a plate, when a young woman walked over to him. "Excuse me, Was it Chief Petty Officer Rourke? Would you like to sit with me and my group?" She asked with a shy warm smile and then said, "Well the small group I think will be joining us?" Alan nodded for a second, "Yes Sir, I would appreciate that greatly, Sir." He had never been in a room with so many officers at once. Alan was starting to wish he hadn't volunteered to apprise the group of what engineering was working on. He never felt like he knew what to say in these kinds of incidents. The Ensign seemed friendly enough, they all did, but still... Alan finished filling his plate and then walked over to the large table that some of the officers were sitting at, and sat beside the young woman who had invited him. He attempted a weak smile. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8 Officer's Lounge, Engineer, Chief Petty Officer Alan Rourke, 1308) Alan listened to the counsellor attempt to joke with him. He worked up a grin. ~Whew... maybe what they say about counsellors being a bit crazy is true.~ he thought to himself. He followed her to the large table. Still, they are all ranking officers. He had to follow what he remembered of protocols in dealing with them. They seemed so... relaxed... so informal compared to what he'd been told to expect. "Well, and here is one of my group, Chief Rourke, Ensign Dorrin Klars." Alan looked at the young officer. He was probably half his age. "Good to meet you Sir," stated Alan formally. He stood and waited for the officers to sit before sitting himself. He knew there were entire sets of protocols for joining officers at a formal dinner. He knew they weren't wearing their dress uniforms, so this wasn't exactly formal, but still... he had to follow the rules. (Reply Klars, any) From there Alan sat and waited to answer any questions that either person may ask. Finally, the woman Ensign gave permission to begin eating, and so he did, hardly looking up from his plate during the meal. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8 Officer's Lounge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1309) Paul sat back and watched as some of the officers tried to wrestle with the code. Rogers attempted to answer first. "It seems like an ancient pre-warp code. I think it was called Marconi Code, but I seem to remember it was a series of three dots...." Paul considered this for a second. He should know old Earth code protocols. He did have a Masters, almost a Doctorate, in Military History after all. ~Marconi code? Marconi first harnessed radio waves. I don't remember him using a code... but... wait...~ "I don't know of a Marconi Code Ensign, I do, however, recall a Morse Code, developed by Samuel Morse. A series of dots and dashes to create letters and symbols. A space between signals denoted a space between letters," said Paul with a grin. Obviously someone wasn't paying as much attention as he should have in his Starfleet history classes. (Reply Rogers) "Computer, decode the signal from the planet using Morse Code," stated Paul. [Complying... The signal translates to H H using Morse Code configurations.] "Well, it was a good thought Rogers, there still may be some merit to it. There is still, obviously, something not right about this code or our translation of it," stated Paul, "People, think about this, its important to crack it. I'll return to it again at the end of the meeting. At this point, I'd like to hear some of your reports however. Doctor Mackenzie, do you have anything to share with us?" asked Paul as he sat back to listen to the report. (Reply Mackenzie) "I see, will that be able to help us at all?" asked Paul. (Reply Mackenzie) "Admiral Gr'iann, Doctor Engtamn-Jensi, how goes the probe modifications?" asked Paul. (Reply Gr'iann) Engtamn softly began to speak, "The probes are more or less ready for manufacture. We just need Engineering to begin working on them to mass produce them," stated Engtamn in short. He was glad that Gr'iann had done the majority of the speaking as this was not his favourite thing to do. "I see... Chief, is Engineering ready to work on the probes?" asked Paul. "Yes Sir, we are ready. Ensign McLaren had finished setting up the programmes before his accident. We can begin production as soon as ordered. We’ve also been trying to find a better way to bypass the shield... but that could take some doing," stated Alan. "Understood Chief. Keep us abreast of what's going on," said Paul, "Ensigns Marta, Klars and Rogers, how are we doing with that language?" (Reply Marta, Klars, Rogers) "Can you make any guesses at all based on what you've found so far?" asked Paul. (Reply Marta, Klars, Rogers) "Now, getting back to that code... any ideas folks?" asked Paul. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8 Officer's Lounge, Counselor, Ensign Kassia Marta, 1310) "Yes Sir, I would appreciate that greatly, Sir." Chief Rourke replied to her. Kass could see that the Chief was not really comfortable around so many officers. He seemed to be a fish out of water with him being here. "Well Chief why not tell me a bit about yourself and maybe that would help you relax. Just remember that we don't bite any more than any other member of the crew. As I have been told before, the enlisted get to bite when they want and the officers have to bite when they are told." Kass hoped that what she said maybe was a bit funny and would bring a smile on his face, but, she was not so sure. He probably just thought she was one crazy counselor. (Rourke, any) She was about to respond to Alan, but, just then Dorrin arrived from talking to Paul. "Well, and here is one of my group, Chief Rourke, Ensign Dorrin Klars." She introduced each as best she could and hoped it would be alright. (Rourke, Klars, any) Kass looked around to see if she could find out where Brian had sat down or if he was still in line. She hoped that she could get her team together before the meeting started, but, she was not so sure it would happen. "Ok Gentlemen, please lets get seated and finish our meal before the meeting starts." She said softly as not to offend the two of them. (posted by Frank) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8, Officer's Lounge, COUNS Ensign (JG) Brian Rogers, 1311) "I don't know of a Marconi Code Ensign, I do, however, recall a Morse Code, developed by Samuel Morse. A series of dots and dashes to create letters and symbols. A space between signals denoted a space between letters," said Lt. Casely. ~Of course! Morse, not Marconi. I think I failed that chapter anyway....~ thought Brian. "Computer, decode the signal from the planet using Morse Code," ordered Casely... [Complying... The signal translates to H H using Morse Code configurations.] "Well, it was a good thought Rogers, there still may be some merit to it. There is still, obviously, something not right about this code or our translation of it," said Casely. "People, think about this, its important to crack it. I'll return to it again at the end of the meeting. At this point, I'd like to hear some of your reports however. Doctor Mackenzie, do you have anything to share with us?" The Acting First Officer asked of Kaitlyn. Brian watched has they talked back and forth Then Casely asked science officer and Gr'iann some questions and then the Engineer. Finally he turned to Rogers, Marta and Klars. "Ensigns Marta, Klars and Rogers, how are we doing with that language?" Lt. Casely asked. Brian looked for the others to respond, and then decided to answer for the group. "Well, sir, I....uh....we ran a cross-section search of all pre-warp files in the database." Brian said. (Reply Marta, Klars, Casely) "Can you make any guesses at all based on what you've found so far?" asked the lieutenant again. "Well, sir. I don't want to take credit for the others work, but I found that airbags is a term for-" Brian froze up and looked at his PADD. He had gone over what to say so many times, he claimed up and forgot what sounded best. "Well, it was a device that exploded when an internal combustion engine vehicle was in an accident. It was literally a bag of air and while it saved some lives...if used improperly it caused fatal injuries. Most commonly..." Brian saw a need to show that he was a Medical Major, and that he wasn't just a counsellor. "....the bones C2 threw C8 were damaged, broken or severed when this airbag went off and the passenger wasn't in the correction position." Brian said. He then turned to Marta and Klars to let them present their information. (Reply Marta, Klars, Casely) "Now, getting back to that code... any ideas folks?" asked Lt. Casely. Brian came up blank. He wasn't an engineer. He presented the only information that came to his mind. Brian quickly thought it out in his head. Why would they get the Morse code wrong, maybe they hadn't master the language? ~Yeah, they messed up my language just like that dirty Gr'iann. How does a hairy animal get to be an Admiral anyway? He ruins the uniform with his-~ and Brian stopped himself. He waited calmly for the others to present their information. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8, Officer's Lounge, ATAC Ensign Dorrin Klars, 1313) "Well, sir. It was literally a bag of air and while it saved some lives...if used improperly it caused fatal injuries. Most commonly the bones C2 threw C8 were damaged, broken or severed when this airbag went off and the passenger wasn't in the correction position." ~Oh my goodness, after all that research, that is the most you can remember, you are truly pathetic. Just what is your game Rogers, never have I seen someone try so hard to seem intelligent and be so bad at it!~ "Moreover sir, Counselor Marta deduced that the majority of the historical references either point to an emergency, it seems that it is either a medical or military emergency, also Houdini seems to point to escape, for he was an escape artist. However there are some references that render this no more than a probability, so we can't give you anything definite." (reply Rogers, Marta, Casely) "Now, getting back to that code... any ideas folks?" asked Lt. Casely. "Sir, I don't pretend to have any true skill in this area of expertise, but is it possible that because it was Morse code, which was most certainly pre-warp it was somehow distorted or something because of its trip through space or some affect of sub-space or something of that effect?" Dorrin waited for someone to answer him. (posted by Dan Black) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8, Officer's Lounge, COUNS Ensign (JG) Brian Rogers, 1314) Brian waited until Klars finished speaking. "Well, they aren't fluent in the language. Maybe they aren't good at Morse Code. They certainly made some errors in their message earlier." Brian said. Brian glanced at Klars and noticed he was upset at him. ~Oh for the love of Cochrane, I hope that he isn't upset about me not understanding our orders. What is this, Academy Freshman year? I better make a note to talk to Klars after this.....~ Brian thought has he waited for the others to speak. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8 Officer's Lounge, Counselor, Ensign(SG) Kassia Marta, 1315) Kass sat back listening to Brian trying to sound important to everyone and could not understand why he had to. Klars still had not accepted Brian after his leaving after the first meeting and with what Brian had just said, Kass knew that his opinion had not changed. Finally after the exchange with Paul about the Morse code and what it really meant, she decided to put her two cents in. Kass cleared her throat to get the Paul's attention, "Sir, I guess it is about time that I am able to talk for our group and tell you what our team came up with." She paused to look at Klars and Rogers then continued. "We" She remembered no matter who did what, the team acted as one and would be referred to as one; hence her decision to use the word 'we'. "decided to break the message down part by part to see if we could decipher what they were trying to say to us. With this new information, it seems certain that they are crying out for help or rescue. We also have things that we don't understand as of yet, per se the first part of the message referred to a Taylor; Who is this Taylor? No safety with Air bags, now we know what they are thanks to Ensign Rogers, but, it still refers to some kind of safety. Why they are not safe, we still have to find out. Then 911 we did, 911 that doth we risketh. Now we have come up with that 911 is a emergency service system that had been installed on earth in the 1960s. I think here they are calling to us for help hence the reason for this reference. To Vonn Trapp we did, Von Trapp them and now. They are a 1938 family that escaped persecution, which, could mean that is what they are trying to do. We think they have tried to do it before and are now trying to do it once again, with us. Their dividends doth not reruns, doth not reruns! We figured two things re-runs are now, basically rerunning something that had been done before whether it be a television program or a distance physically run. What we also need to figure out is Dividends, could be rewards or success at the successful escape. Surgeon General, now that could mean the Fleet Medical officer or the nations leading spokesman on matters of public health. We are in the same mind that it has to do with health issues. We think that maybe health could be an issue with the planet doing what it is doing or what is happening on the planet by the inhabitants. Now Houdini that they mention, was an exceptional escape artist in the early 1900 who died in 1926 about thirteen years before rocket propulsion began research and development. And then Indies Temple, we think it has to do with some kind of religious belief, but, did not have time to explore that.." "We have somewhat come to the conclusion that they are trying and have tried before to safely escape the planet due to health reasons before the planet does another disappearing act." She sat back after finishing, then added. "Sir I am sorry for such a long explanation, I hope it helps." She decided that once this was over, she would have to sit down with Klars and Brian to get this hostility over with. She could not understand why Brian, being a counselor was displaying such attitudes, it was not good for working relations with the crew. (posted by Frank) (Starbase Geneva-Officer's Lounge-ACMO Lt. I'll return to it again at the end of the meeting. At this point, I'd like to hear some of your reports however. Doctor Mackenzie, do you have anything to share with us?" asked Paul as he sat back to listen to the report. Trying to understand the code was off the hook for the moment until all the senior staff finished their reports. Speaking up, Kaitlyn said, "With the data our sensors took, I was only able to get so much information," she said in a disappointed tone. Continuing, she said, "However, I did pull up some information that might be helpful in the research ideas of Dr. Engtamn- Jensi as well. So far from what I can tell, there are two different species. One of them is very close to us, probably human. The other is off the charts. I have no idea about him or her. I couldn't even identify it using the Federation Medical Database. " She watched as some people seemed surprised. "This information was just about all I could dig up until the Doctor releases the microprobe. He did ask me to look into something to better perfect his probe though." Flipping through the files on her PADD, she found what she was looking for and stopped. "The reproducibility in this, or these, cultures is vast. These people might have genetic similarities if they've been living on this planet for some time......meaning that both species have probably mated together at one point in time or another. Seeing as how I can't find out how different the other species is though, I'd have to wait to make that call. For now I would just advise Dr. Engtamn-Jensi to make the modifications just in case. Besides, the more information we gather, the better." She looked around the table and saw them nodding. "I see, will that be able to help us at all?" asked Paul. "It will help some, at least enough to know who or what kind of species we're dealing with, but I'm waiting for the microprobe to be sent. With the information that comes through that, I'll be able to identify things down to their hair and eye color." Seeing that Casely was satisfied for the moment, she glanced around the table once more. Earlier, she noticed that during her mating speech, Gr'iann seemed to be focused on that pretty well. At which point, she changed her glance and saw Rogers sitting across the table from her. ~I'll have to see about that Klingon program he wanted to run with me later.~ Kaitlyn also noted how he had a glassy look on his face, which was directed seemingly at Gr'iann. ~Wonder what he did?~ Snapping back to paying attention, she listened as Casely continued to ask Dr. Engtamn- Jensi and Gr'iann about the probe modifications. (Reply: Any, none) (Posted by: Stacey) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8 Officer's Lounge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1325) Paul watched as everyone put together a plate of food and got something to drink. Most seemed fairly pleased by the food offerings available to them. There was no reason, in Paul's estimation, that they couldn't meet and take care of eating at the same time. One thing that he noticed when onboard the Nimitz was that when a crisis hit, there were plenty of meetings, little sleep, and hardly a chance to have a real meal. Combining food and meeting dealt with at least two of the necessary activities. "People, if you could please find your seats in the next few minutes, I'd like to begin. I want you to have full meals and don't stand on ceremony. As long as you don't interrupt someone giving a report with noise and can hear what's going on, feel free to refill your plates. Brian started speaking. "It seems like an ancient pre-warp code. I think it was called Marconi Code, but I seem to remember it was a series of three dots...." Brian trailed off. (Posted by: Stacey) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8 Officer's Lounge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1328) Paul sat and listened to the Ensigns discuss the possibilities of the code that they had received. Klars supposed that it could be an echo of some sort, while Rogers seemed to believe the people they were dealing with were somewhat incompetent. Both ideas had some merit and Paul considered both of these responses for a moment. "Here's my issue... I can check Ensign Klars' hypothesis but I cannot test the supposition of Ensign Rogers. So... lets check Ensign Klars' idea and go from there," said Paul. What is the issue there?~ thought Paul as he mulled over the signal. "Good work gentlemen, but this only seems to deepen our current mystery," stated Paul, "Any hypothesis on what the problem is, or who needs help? [Affirmative] "Computer, screen out all distortions and replay the signal," ordered Casely. [Working... dot dot dot/dash dash dash/dot dot dot] Brian's heart sunk has he realized he was wrong. He was batting .000, has his suggestions in the earlier meeting were shot down by Casely and now his theory was halted by a simple computer command. Lt. Casely nodded to Ensign Klars and smiled. It bothered Brian, but he knew that since they were superior-assistant it would help crew relations. After all, if Casely and Klars can work better together, and the station gets into a space battle, their smooth relationship of the Tactical Department might save Brian's life. Brian thought about his working relationship with Ensign Marta. She must have been offended when he hurried off to work alone. He'd have to work well with her too. You never knew when the counsellor department might save the station. Brian glanced around the table at all his crewmates. ~All of them. I've got to know all of them. Only then can we be a smooth crew....~ Brian was proud of himself until his eyes fell on Admiral Gr'iann. ~He is an Admiral, and I will have to work with him. Maybe I guess I can get to know him better. ~ Brian shook his head, and then looked back to Casely. "Computer, translate from Morse Code and extrapolate," ordered Casely. [Working... translates into SOS... Save Our Souls... a universal Earth signal requesting aid used from the 19th to 20th Century.] Ah, Brian remembered this from his Academy days. His professor told him there was some sort of debate with historians whether SOS meant Save Our Souls or Save Our Ship. In any sense, the computer had gotten the main idea. "Good work gentlemen, but this only seems to deepen our current mystery. Any hypothesis on what the problem is, or who needs help? Bearing in mind, of course, that as Ensign Rogers stated it could be an error and we may have misinterpreted it. This is a brainstorming exercise folks, so don't be afraid of being wrong." Lt. Casely said. Brian thought and then spoke up. "Well, I think that in our research, we noticed a very similar pattern. In the original transmission, they said 911, which is an old emergency communication channel. Airbags, which is another safety device and now SOS. I think they're calling for help." Brian said and waited for the others to say something. (Posted by Kevin "Schrammie" Schram) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8 Officer's Lounge, Counselor, Ensign(SG) Kassia Marta, 1332) After Kass had given her report she started to go over it one more time in her mind. Then she sat up suddenly before anyone could say anything more. "Sir, People as Taylor, they are referring that We are the same as Taylor. Taylor has to be human and probably an explorer as we are. That is where they got the Human traits. We need to research the early years of space exploration of Earth history to find him and maybe find an answer to that part. (posted by Frank) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8 Officer's Lounge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1334) Paul listened intently as the senior officers continued their reports. There was a good deal of work that was accomplished within the last few hours and he was pleased... with good reason. It wasn't enough to necessarily directly help, but some of the ideas of some of the officers might spur ideas in the others, that made this a worthwhile endeavour. Suddenly, Kassia interrupted the procedure. "Sir, People as Taylor, they are referring that We are the same as Taylor. Taylor has to be human and probably an explorer as we are. That is where they got the Human traits. We need to research the early years of space exploration of Earth history to find him and maybe find an answer to that part. We have something we can possibly use a frame of reference and your deduction along with Doctor Mackenzie's work seems to point strongly towards there being humans on that planet. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Main Operations, OPS, Ensign{JG} Zadora Yalrath, 1337) Zadora sat in the command chair and looked out at the expanse. Smack dab in the middle of what used to be open space hung 'that planet'. It was, in a sense, annoying and in another exciting. She had joined Starfleet to experience the new and exciting... and this definitely qualified. She had been monitoring the planet for the last while with the rest of the Operations staff and there wasn't so much as a twitch, when suddenly she saw it... ~Now how the heck did that get out there?~ Yalrath watched as a black craft of a configuration she hadn't seen before flew away from the station. She was more than aware of Casely's order that no unauthorized shuttlecraft disembark. She frowned and felt a severe attack of panic. "Who are those people? What is that craft? Where did it launch from and who supplied the codes?" asked Yalrath in her voice starting to rise in a low level panic. "I'm sorry, no one has any idea. We can't find a thing about it," stated someone from behind her, "They aren't responding to our hails. Scanning isn't getting us anywhere, their shields are up." "TRACTOR BEAM, now! Catch it and hold it there until I can alert the Lieutenant," she intoned sharply. ~Can't even beam anyone over or out.~ [Tractor beam is currently offline.] intoned the computer. Yalrath swore inwardly and tapped her comm badge. "Lieutenant Casely, this is Ensign Yalrath, this is a priority alert. We have a shuttle disembarking with shields up. We can't figure out who cleared it and the vessel doesn't seem to be on the station manifest. We tried to tractor it in, but the tractor beam is mysteriously not working. They aren't responding to our hails," she stated. Zadora knew that Casely would not be happy about this event and waited to see how he was going to deal with it. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8 Officer's Lounge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1338) Paul and the rest of the senior staff had been discussing the language and other issues connected to the planet that had suddenly appeared over lunch. The staff had made considerable headway and were, more or less, working well together. Paul had developed some reservations about Ensign Rogers that he would have to deal with at a later date. Probably best to check his medical file first to see the last time he had been checked out for a physical. Paul might request Gr’iann schedule one for him if it had been for awhile. In the middle of the meeting an urgent message came from Main Operations. =^=Lieutenant Casely, this is Ensign Yalrath, this is a priority alert. We have a shuttle disembarking with shields up. It sounded like Yalrath had done everything she could from Ops. It might be time to consider a more ‘direct’ approach. “Ensign, fire phasers to their side. Don’t hit them, but make sure a clear warning is sent,” stated Paul. He hoped that the fools in the craft would think about what they’re doing and get the message. The reply from Ops was none too pleasing. =^= I’m sorry sir, they’ve wrapped around to the other side of the planet… they seem to have been moving in an orbital pattern, probably because they expected us to do something like that. If I fire, I might be able to get close to them, bit it seems more likely I will hit the planetary shield.=^= ~Hitting the planetary shield might not convey the best intentions to the people we’re trying to make peaceful contact with,~ thought Paul gravely. “Never mind that then. Put the general order through. I want the Mithrandir prepped and ready immediately, pull the auxiliary crew and have them ready and at their stations. Alert the Captain directly and immediately and please let her know that I’m taking a contingent of crew off the station to deal with this problem,” stated Paul. His heart began to race at the thought of going aboard the Defiant Class ship. He knew that one of the promised perks of the station would be an opportunity to use the Mithrandir from time to time. He had assumed that it would generally be the First Officer who would be in command, but seeing as there was no First Officer, he was technically acting in that regard. Paul got up. “It seems people that our meeting will have to be cut short. Klars, I want you to take the tactical position on the Mithrandir. Mackenzie, take medicine and biological science. Rogers, operate the sensors and communications and keep main OPs running. Rourke, go directly to Engineering. Marta, according to your record you have some piloting skill, think you can handle a Defiant Class ship?” (Reply Klars, Mackenzie, Rogers, Marta) “Admiral, if I may impose, please watch Main Operations on the station for me? Casely had asked for ideas on how this planet and its people were connected to Earth, and Brian was mulling it over when a report from Ops came in. =^=Lieutenant Casely, this is Ensign Yalrath, this is a priority alert. We have a shuttle disembarking with shields up. We can't figure out who cleared it and the vessel doesn't seem to be on the station manifest. We tried to tractor it in, but the tractor beam is mysteriously not working. They aren't responding to our hails.=^= said a young voice. Brian squirmed has he tried to figure this out. It was strange. There were many civilians on the station, Brian would have to check to see if any came up has ex-military. Also, a spy must of been in the works to disable the tractor beam, or it might be a random system failure. The engineer McLaren was injured, so maybe his crew forgot to run a diagnostic, besides, Rogers wasn't Security. “Ensign, fire phasers to their side. Don’t hit them, but make sure a clear warning is sent,” ordered Casely. Brian's mind formed a mental picture of a small and speedy shuttle zooming away, and the huge station firing a warning shot, and the shuttle turning back, but..... =^= I’m sorry sir, they’ve wrapped around to the other side of the planet… they seem to have been moving in an orbital pattern, probably because they expected us to do something like that. If I fire, I might be able to get close to them, bit it seems more likely I will hit the planetary shield.=^= The officer in Ops said. Brian muttered a four letter word under his breath and snapped his fingers. This was becoming more and more like an HoloStory adventure. “Never mind that then. Put the general order through. I want the Mithrandir prepped and ready immediately, pull the auxiliary crew and have them ready and at their stations. Alert the Captain directly and immediately and please let her know that I’m taking a contingent of crew off the station to deal with this problem,” ordered Casely. Brian's short adventure fantasy changed to a heroic crew loading up on the small ship and chasing down the shuttle....and Brian stuck in the counselor's office, reviewing the message again. Lt. Casely rose to his feet. “It seems people that our meeting will have to be cut short. Klars, I want you to take the tactical position on the Mithrandir. Mackenzie, take medicine and biological science. Rogers, operate the sensors and communications and keep main OPs running." Brian's heart skipped a beat. Not only would he be serving on the Bridge like all members of the famous Rogers Starfleet bloodline, but he would be operating Ops.... Brian missed the rest of Casely's assignments in his child-like excitement. He got up when everybody else got up and headed to the turbolift. ~Finally, I get some real action!~ Brian thought has he followed the rest of the senior crew, a big smile on his face. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 8 Officer's Lounge, ATAC Ensign Dorrin Klars, 1340) =^=Lieutenant Casely, this is Ensign Yalrath, this is a priority alert. We have a shuttle disembarking with shields up. We can't figure out who cleared it and the vessel doesn't seem to be on the station manifest. We tried to tractor it in, but the tractor beam is mysteriously not working. They aren't responding to our hails.=^= Dorrin's eyes widened. ~What the heck, what is going on?~ He waited for orders to see how Casely would deal with the situation. "It seems people that our meeting will have to be cut short. Klars, I want you to take the tactical position on the Mithrandir. Mackenzie, take medicine and biological science. Rogers, operate the sensors and communications and keep main OPs running. Rourke, go directly to Engineering. Marta, according to your record you have some piloting skill, think you can handle a Defiant Class ship?" Dorrin grinned, he didn’t know if Marta could handle a Defiant Class ship, but he was sure someone here could, and he was excited about taking the tactical position. He turned to see if Marta would be the pilot. (reply Marta) Well it seemed that she could. Dorrin quickly got up and followed the Lt. to Mithrandir. (Posted by Dan Black) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1341) Paul walked onto the small, cramped bridge of the Defiant Class vessel. He had passed a few of the small contingent of crew members required to keep the vessel running on his way. ~This certainly is a stripped down vessel compared to the Nimitz,~ Paul thought as he walked to the command chair, ~But, for now… its mine.~ With that thought, Paul sat down and pulled systems screens up. “Ensign Marta, please release the docking clamps and exit the station bay, one quarter impulse. Once we’re clear of the station, use full impulse,” stated Paul (Reply Marta) “Ensign Klars, once we’re clear of the station, raise the shields and power up the standard phaser bank. Leave the torps offline, only use the phaser cannon if necessary,” stated Paul. (Reply Klars) “Mr. Rogers, keep transmitting messages to them asking them to give themselves up and stand down. Keep the sensor sweeps going too,” said Paul. (Reply Rogers) Paul grinned and looked at the counsellor. ~Time to prove your worth.~ “Doctor Mackenzie, please keep the science station manned. If we take any injured either from our own crew or from the other ship, we’ll definitely need you. Also, if something happens and we under up with a hole through that planetary shield, I wouldn’t mind if you scanned the planet and recorded the life signs and their more ‘intrinsic’ qualities,” Paul said with a grin. He knew the doctor would pick up on the idea to do a bit of information recon if they had the opportunity. Might as well get as much information as possible. (Reply Mackenzie) Paul nodded, with that he tapped his comm. badge, “Admiral Gr’iann, we’re disembarking. Please keep the station on a yellow alert status. Shields up, but no weapons brought to bear for now. I don’t want our friends on the planet getting the wrong idea,” said Paul, knowing that the Admiral wouldn’t take offense. He was sure the admiral already had these things in mind and figured it would only be a short period of time before the Captain would take control of the station back anyway. (Reply Gr’iann) “Thank you Sir,” stated Paul as he cut communications. Paul looked around the craft at his crew, busily working to carry out his orders. He knew they would do their best for him. He only hoped that they could find the rogue vessel before it had time to do any harm. Paul pulled the arms of the command chair up and into battle mode as the vessel cleared its moorings and headed off towards the far side of the planet. The Mithrandir was at least 4 times bigger than the ship that had gone out, this should be no problem. As they began to move to full impulse and swing around the planet, Paul called out, “Yellow Alert.” (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Mithrandir-Bridge-ACMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-1342) Kaitlyn quickly got to her station and took a seat. Opening up the operations of the console, she was on a roll. As everyone was finally settled, Casely began giving out the orders. When her name came off his tongue, she quickly looked up at him. “Doctor Mackenzie, please keep the science station manned. Grinning back, Kaitlyn thought, ~I can be devious if that happens...~ "Aye sir, I'll keep my finger on those sensors." As she said that to Casely, she thought she caught Roger's glancing in her direction, but she wasn't sure. ~We need to meet up and talk about doing that holodeck program after this mission is over.~ It wasn't long before the Mithrandir was on it's way, and Kaitlyn was at the ready. (Posted by: Stacey) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, ATAC/ASC, Ensign {JG} Dorrin Klars, 1343) "Ensign Klars, once we're clear of the station, raise the shields and power up the standard phaser bank. Leave the torps offline, only use the phaser cannon if necessary." "Yes sir," Dorrin called back and began the preparations, so he could follow the orders accurately. As they began to move to full impulse and swing around the planet, Paul called out, "Yellow Alert. ~Smart, we go in prepared, but not guns blazing. We won't be taken by surprise, but we won't cause an unnecessary fight either. Not that it would last long, their ship is no much for Mithrandir.~ We finished following Casely's previous orders, and prepared himself for whatever might follow. (Posted by Dan Black) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, COUNS Ensign (JG) Brain Rogers, 1344) Brian walked aboard the small bridge of the Defiant ship and sat at Ops. The small bridge was much different from the Excelsior-class ship his Academy training ship had been, but Brian liked it much the same. Casely walked aboard and sat in the center seat. Brian began working and bringing up a sensor sweep of the surrounding area while Casely got a report from his co-counselor and then from Klars. Brian smiled has he felt the ship undock from Geneva and begin leaving the station. He felt like a kid on his first camping trip. He broke his grin when the lieutenant turned to him. “Mr. Rogers, keep transmitting messages to them asking them to give themselves up and stand down. Keep the sensor sweeps going too,” Lt. Casely ordered him. Brian felt important, he was needed on this ship. "Aye, sir. I'll have a standard order to surrender to Federation Forces every 1 minute and 30 seconds, plus all sensor arrays are on a full spectrum sweep every 15 seconds, sir." Brian informed the acting first officer has he implemented his orders. Then Casely turned to Kaitlyn. Brian sneaked a glance at her while she reported her status and then Casely contacted the station. Lt. Casely pulled the arms of the command chair up and into battle mode. Brian couldn't help but smile again. This was the real deal, a real starship hunting down would could be a lost and confused trading shuttle....or a secret Romulan Scout vessel .Either way, this was a real honest to goodness adventure, the stuff that his father told him about has a child, and Brian wouldn't have it any other way. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1347) They were underway. Paul was impressed at how quickly the crew snapped to it and how effectively they were doing their jobs. They were, after all, all Starfleet trained, so it was hardly surprising that they were so able to move from station to station. Paul thought back to the USS Nimitz and remembered how he had to, at one time, integrate OPS and Tactical when the OPs chief was injured. Most Academy graduates were made to learn different stations for a reason. Paul scanned the bridge and knew they would be making contact very soon. "Mr. Rogers, give me a visual of the craft please," stated Paul. He wanted to have a better idea of what he was dealing with. Small craft could be deadly under the right circumstances, heavily armed and armoured, stripped down of the amenities, just like the Mithrandir. (Reply Rogers) An instant later, the craft was magnified and on screen, they were still too far to do anything effectively except hail them, but Paul knew they would be there soon. Paul saw it then, a concentrated burst of energy coming from the small craft and striking the planetary shield, they were trying to cut through and it looked like they were making some headway. "How long until they cut through the planetary shield?" Paul asked out loud, knowing that either tactical or science could best answer that depending on who figured it out first. (Reply Klars and/or Mackenzie) Paul tapped a few keys to record information into his official log and then turned to Ensign Marta. "Mr. Marta, how long before we reach the craft?" Time was now of the essence. (Reply Marta) "Mr. Klars, when we get into range, I want you to target the engines but don't fire until my mark. Ensign Rogers, pause the pre-recorded hails and put me on the blower in a few seconds. Doctor Mackenzie, I believe that you'll have your chance to get a few better scans of the planet. Do what you can, but I do feel that taking care of any injured comes first," said Paul waiting for the responses from his crew. Paul had hoped for a shakedown cruise of the Mithrandir before taking it out with a crew, but time had not been on his side. His bridge crew was doing their best to keep the situation under control, and they were doing an excellent job thus far. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, COUNS, Ensign {JG} Brian Rogers, 1348) Brian was watching the small screen that displayed the sensor readings the sensor arrays were watching. He then turned to the center of the bridge has Lt. Casely gave him a command. "Mr. Rogers, give me a visual of the craft please," ordered their acting first officer. Brian entered a quick command on the view screen the craft was magnified. Brian relayed the information the sensors were telling him. "It appears they're trying to create an entrance into the planetary shield, sir." Brian reported. After a few short responses from the other bridge crew, they now knew they didn't have much time. Casely handed out orders quickly. "Mr. Klars, when we get into range, I want you to target the engines but don't fire until my mark. Ensign Rogers, pause the pre-recorded hails and put me on the blower in a few seconds. Doctor Mackenzie, I believe that you'll have your chance to get a few better scans of the planet. Do what you can, but I do feel that taking care of any injured comes first," Brian sprung into action and entered a quick command for a standard communication channel to the craft and held his finger on the control to open the channel and turned and to Casely for the go command. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, ATAC Ensign Dorrin Klars , 1350) "How long until they cut through the planetary shield?" Paul asked out loud. Dorrin worked furiously to answer, and managed to figure it out, however when he saw the results he was compelled to very softly, swear under his breath. "Sir, they will get through the shield in 3 minutes, no more." ~I may be wrong, but it seems to me that this is going to be a very close thing!~ "Mr. Klars, when we get into range, I want you to target the engines but don't fire until my mark. Ensign Rogers, pause the pre-recorded hails and put me on the blower in a few seconds. Doctor Mackenzie, I believe that you'll have your chance to get a few better scans of the planet. Do what you can, but I do feel that taking care of any injured comes first," said Paul "Yes sir," replied Klars grimly, his mind totally focused on what he was doing, and ready to fire as soon as the ship got into range. (posted by Dan Black) (Starbase Geneva, Medical Centre, ACEO, Ensign (JG) Matthew McLaren, 1408) For now the pain was gone and there was nothing but blackness. The first sound he heard was the throb of a reactor core which he immediately recognised as a Federation reactor. But nothing else was coming into focus. He couldn't remember where he was. Dreamlike images flashed in his mind and he was having trouble concentrating on what the images were. Slowly he began to regain some control. He identified a soft beeping as the monitor on a bio bed and heard movement over to his left. He was so disorientated, unable to recall where he was or what he was doing. He shifted onto his back and tried to sit up. But nausea overtook him and he fell back down. "Is---is anyone there?" He said into the blackness. He began to regain control of his sensors and could feel covering over his eyes, a dull ache in his head, a feeling of nausea. ~What is going on?~ (posted by Matthew McLaren [END COMPILE]
