She still couldn't think of solutions for this problem. Her mother was a scientist, and now she couldn't help thinking why she didn't try harder to understand some issues like this. Somehow she was always concerned with more practical problems. Then she got on idea of what she could do. (USS Apollo, Stellar Catography, Ensign Selera - 0525) There was noone in SC at this hour. She accessed the computer in order to find something she was looking for. A moment after, the machine just responded with request for authorisation for using it. ~Damn, you're not on a romulan ship!~ she thought rolling her eyes. Since she was not a Federation officer in this time line, she didn't have the authorisation, but she had her memories from this time line. So she just smiled when she remembered a simple trick how to bypass the problem. So when she was done, she accessed the Romulan Database, she had most of codes she needed for her this. She was trying to find anything that coulnd help her solve this puzzle. It took her some time to find anything usefull. Than she copied informations to her PADD and left, still reading what she found. (USS Apollo, Bridge, Ensign Selera - 0645) The scene on the bridge was alrady a familiar sight. She usually needed a little time to get used to place and situation she was in. The only thing she still bothered was the fact that she didn't quite knew these people she should be serving with. When they reached Ferengi station, someone passed the Ferengi's comment and she just slightely smiled rolling her eyes. She hated Ferengies. Than she folowed shuttle deeper into that ship junkyard, ~If this where we will find Spectre, this is not going to be good.~ She felt revealed when they realised the this ship was not Spectre. The crew was aboard, and the ship was on it way again, so Selera was just reading some information awaithing for 0800 hours. (Reply none) (Posted by Ivona Marzic) (USS Lion- Observation Lounge- ACEO Peabody- 06.00) Peabody stood in the Observation Lounge, watching the stars pass by. They had been delayed numerous times in the travel towards the Apollo. Being calls for congratulations on the newly minted Admiral to hails for assistance on engineering projects and other assorted diversions. They were now on a delayed schedule and Peabody was becoming tired of the sidetracks. For the time being, they were responding with a message of apology to those that were seeking them out. Walter "Doc" Peabody wondered when he could be back in the engineering room again. Command had its advantages, but only to a point. Doc's home was deep in the depths of his ships, one finger on the pulse while the others continued to make the ship function better than it ever had. It had been his duty at Utopia Planitia, it had been his duty on the Spectre. That was all in the other universe. His home, his world. Now, a high ranking officer in a place he hardly knew, he felt out of place. It seemed that he had built himself into a position he had never considered before. As Admiral of Engineering, he had full run of everything in the galaxy and more. Now, all he wanted was to get home to the Spectre and put his hands against the throbbing power behind the old girl. "Captain...or should I say Admiral?" The voice of the other Doctor, Maxwell Cambridge spoke up from behind, at the door of the room. Peabody turned, a faint smile on his face. Neither had any personal experience with each other. On Utopia, Cambridge had been the Chief Medical Officer while Walter had been a simple engineering officer. The similar thread between the two men was that they were Starfleet Officers. And that was as good as brothership between an engineering officer and medical officer. "You can call me 'Doc, Mr. Cambridge." The man chuckled and moved to sit at a table to the side of Walter. "You want to go home, don't you?" Peabody nodded. "More than anything. More than anything." Cambridge nodded. "You know, I'm told I'm in a coma back where you come from. I understand someone else is command of Sickbay. Rain Anderson isn't on the staff anymore. And the man who preceded you is dead. Much has changed..." Standing slowly, Cambridge looked out to the stars. "You see, when this is all over, I'm going home. I'll still be in that bed in sickbay waiting for a ray of light to wake me up. When I do, I'm going to find things have changed so much. I'll probably just accept a commission as a simple medical officer working the bowels of sickbay and keep working." Peabody nodded thoughtfully. "Then I suppose all I can do is keep working, no matter where I end up." Cambridge slapped him on the back. "And that's all you can do Mr. Peabody." ^Bridge to 'Doc, we're arriving at the second confirmation point.^ Peabody smiled. "Back to work. Bridge, drop us out and bring up yellow alert status. I'm on my way. Cambridge, let's go keep working." The bridge was bathed in yellow as both Doctors walked out of the turbolift. Kevel stood from the center chair. "We've completed a sensor sweep of the area both short range and long range. No sign of the Apollo, Spectre or anyone else. A few spacial anomalies are in the area, but nothing serious. Tactical is warmed up and ready in case something comes through. The bridge is yours." Peabody smiled and shook his head. "You never change Kevel, our universe or this one. Thank you." Walter moved to the center chair. "Communcations, send a message priority one. We have arrived and await. Encrypt and send quick." The crew made their moves. Walter tapped the shipwide channel on his chair next. "Your attention please. This is you Captain speaking. Or Admiral. Or whatever I am. Soon I will be transfering over to the USS Apollo on their arrival here. I will be transfering command of this vessel to the next senior officer behind Richard Kevel. You will then return to Earth for your next pack of orders. It has been a pleasure serving with you and leading this command. It has been an honor. We have some time before the Apollo arrives. Use it for what you will." The channel closed. Walter headed to his Ready Room. As the door closed behind him, he made his way to the replicator. In minutes he had what he wanted. He walked back on the bridge. Kevel chuckled as he spotted Peabody. He was dressed in an engineering uniform with the rank he held on the USS Spectre. Peabody sat in the center chair and looked to Richard. "Now, we wait." (reply Apollo, any) (posted by adelay) (USS Lion- Science Lab - Chief Science Officer Jack Wylde- 07.00) Jack Wylde sat in the science lab working on whatever he could find. The USS Lion was mostly an engineering vessel, with focus some on science. However, that had all changed when the captain, the FO and a medical doctor had discovered the world they had come from. The focus on been on finding the Apollo and getting to a point where they were together with the other crew. Wylde had put himself in the Science lab to find anything that could help them get home. It had been long hours, and there wasn't anything. He had sent out several searches with the sensors and othe ships where his friends held posts as Science Chiefs. Nothing had come back and very few had expressed much hope. Jack was trying to understand the Timeship Newton conundrum and what it all meant. It was something that had haunted him. A ship that was equally classed as the Lion herself, she was a threat. Suddenly, a beep started sounded from a station across the room. Wylde wheeled his chair over to the console and tapped up the information. In his intent to find any trace of the Newton, he had started a stern to bow exam of the USS Lion. Something was detected. And it wasn't something that you found on a Starship. "Wylde to Bridge!" ^Go ahead..." The voice of Richard Kevel broke through. Jack began to detail what he had found. The voice of Peabody was heard as the two men began to discuss what information had come up. ^Wylde, this Peabody. You sure about this?^ Jack was sure. He was ordered to the bridge. (USS Lion- Bridge - Chief Science Officer Jack Wylde- 07.15) Walking into the command center, he felt a little out of place. As the Chief of Science Operations, he rarely was called into the bridge for anything. He usually sat at the back of the room, watching readings and wishing for something to come up. Somehow, that wish had come true. Peabody stood from his chair and walked back to the science station where Wylde began to work through what he had found. "I detected this on a sensor sweep I special configured to check the ship from top to bottom. Here, you see..." He tapped the console quickly. "It's not something the computer or anybody could find. It's hidden very well, almost too well. The systems reacted to it as I programmed it. It's something of a transmitter. I'm trying to hack into it, but that may be beyond me. I've also got the computer working on linking into the communcations stream so we might be able to link back to the USS Newton Timeship." Another set off beeps put the mens focus back to the console. Jack grinned. "I've got a stream. Your call?" Peabody looked to Kevel. What would it do if they tried to speak to thier attackers? There wasn't much else to do. There always had to be a way to start the process of finding a way home. "Do it." Wylde nodded and tapped the buttons to get the channel open. He nodded. The audio only channel was online. Walter Peabody moved to the Communcations station and spoke into the microphone. "Newton Timeship, this is the USS Lion, Admiral Peabody. What is your purpose?" Walter took a deep breath. There was still hope. (reply TIMESHIP Newton, any) (posted by adelay) <> (Timeship Newton: Bridge - CO Captain Bridget Mark - 0730) "Captain, we're being hailed," her tactical officer reported. "How?" Mark replied. It wasn't as if anyone had a reason for calling them up in this timeline. "Who?" "It looks like its been piggybacked over our tracer, sir." ~How in the hell?~ she thought angrily. ~Those things are supposed to be undetectable.~ "Open the channel, and keep an eye on our tracer for compromises." =/\=Timeship Newton, this is the USS Lion, Admiral Peabody. What is your purpose?=/\= ~To stop someone from screwing up the timeline. Why else would we be here?~ "Lion, Newton -- Captain responding. I would think our purpose is obvious: someone is planning on altering the timeline. Fluctuations have already begun to propogate, Admiral, and we don't have much time. You are to make no mention of this ship whatsoever, Peabody. No logs, no nothing. Have I made myself understood?" She signaled her tactical officer to mute the channel. "How long until we can be underway?" "Not long, Captain. A few hours, at best. Tracking a ship through quantum slipstream is not a simple matter, even with our technology. Too much Heisenburg." Mark nodded and signaled to the tactical officer to resume audio. ~Aye, that it would.~ (Reply Peabody) (Posted by Lenox) -Lenox - Lord of Hyphens (USS Apollo, Observation Lounge, CONN/OPS Ensign Selera - 0800) Selera was quite listening to what she could call a list of problems they had. Perhaps she was paranoid a bit, but this didn't seem good at all. Commander Lono told her story about the aliens that Selera didn't know about. Then she said lastely: "A few minutes ago, I realized something. I was not alone in being abducted. Ten other crewmembers were also taken by the aliens. And, thus far, I am the only one of the abducted to be found. The others are still missing." "From the way I see it, this is only a prove that this whole thing did not happen accidentally. If so, there is no reason why those other crewmembers wouldn't be here. But if they did this intentionally, the question is why. Either they know something that we don't, or... " She stoped becouse she couldn't think of any other reason for doing something like this. She took a glance around the desk hopeing someone could answer the question of what happened in a first place. (Reply any) (Posted by Ivona Marzic) (USS Apollo, Observation Lounge, SFI Agent Soval - 08.00) "Sir, have we ascertained the locations of Maria or George Orde?" Remae picked up a PADD, "Yes, some of the crew including the Orde's are heading our way on the Lion, as soon as we get to the next pick up point, their ship will arrive to drop them and everyone else from the Spectre off." "Aye, sir. Other than that they are both part of the crew, they'd be especially valuable to figuring out how we got into this mess." "I agree.", smiled Remae as he turned to the assembled officers, "We have some very serious issues to attend too. Firstly, the crew, our current collect and retrieve policy will have us regain 87% of the crew within the next few hours. We're waiting on the other 13%, we need to decide how long we're prepared to search for them. We have no idea where some of these people are, where to start looking. are we going to commit to decades of searching this galaxy for them all?" "Sooner or later, we are going to have to try and get back to our correct universe. I don't understand the technical details but its been made clear that time-travel isn't an option, we have to change dimensions. Does anyone have any thoughts on this or anything else I've mentioned?" "Sir, we have that timeship gunning for us. Somehow, we're going to do something dangerous to the integrity of this timestream. Even if we are not going to do that now, that other ship out there doesn't know that. Unfortunately, all I can see us doing is watching our backs. Hopefully, when we get more of our science crew, we'll be in a position to figure out where in this multiverse we are. Commander Lono, before we got ourselves kicked in the pants into this reality, you were being held by an alien force. Do you remember anything from that encounter?" "Yes. Even when I thought everything about my life aboard the Spectre was a dream, I remembered being taken . . .someplace; I never did discover just where it was. But an alien questioned me,and used a cybernetic device to copy my memories. Then, I was either transported to a holodeck type situation, or perhaps it occurred only in my own mind. But I was put through a number of tests, to demonstrate how my thought processes worked. I was forced to decypher groups of numbers, as if they were codes, and to create alphabets of various symbols, and movements. Much of this latter was like dance. I was rewarded, psychically, or punished. I can only conclude that these aliens wanted to learn as much about our mental abilities as possible." ~Fascinating~ Soval thought as he completed several disparities within his theories with this new information. Kahila stopped for a moment, looked down at the PADD she carried, and then continued. "A few minutes ago, I realized something. " "Captain," Orde said, "there is no reason not to believe that those crew members were also kicked into this reality. I hate to say this, but getting back is out top priority. However, sir, I will do all I can to find our people and get them to a rendevous point." “Logically we do not require the entire crew in order to return to our own reality; Mr Orde is quite correct in his earlier statement that we may do something ‘dangerous’ to the integrity of this timeline in that in order to return to our own reality it will be necessary to alter this timeline to approximate our own. Dimensional transposition is relatively undemanding; in 2267 Captain Kirk encountered an individual named Lazarus who had devised a means of travelling to alternate dimensional realities; in 2273 the same Captain was substituted for his counterpart from an alternate reality while transporting from the Halkan homeworld during an Ion storm and in 2370 a Lieutenant Worf of the USS Enterprise-D passed through an anomaly which caused him to begin jumping between parallel dimensions. The problem however, Captain, is determining which reality one will enter, given that there are an infinite number this problem proved most inconvenient, however it has been theorised that transposition may only occur between similar realities and given our quantum attachment to our own reality it is highly probable that we would return to our own reality. Therefore if we manipulate this timeline to be as similar as practicable to our own and then utilise one of a variety of methods of dimensional transference with a sufficient number of individuals from our own reality it is highly plausible that the remainder will also be transposed thereby returning everyone to our dimension. In theory.” (reply Remae, any) - room for more “With regard to Commander Kahila’s earlier comment I believe the reasoning for these actions is clear; she stated that she was put through a number of tests to demonstrate how her thought processes worked. Logically therefore this species was searching for a particular method of comprehension and since they acted after scanning Miss Lono it is logically to conclude that they found what they were searching for. The alterations to our dimensional existence must consequentially stem from the success of this search and therefore it is logical to hypothesis that the alien species requires something that can only be ascertained by a species with a particular method of contemplation in a specific situation. Hence why it was necessary to alter reality to place the individuals who have shown the sought method of understanding in that situation, and a logical rationale for why only Miss Lono has been located; redundancy. Specifically it would allow them multiple opportunities to ascertain what it is they seek.” (Reply from any) (Posted by John Morrison) <> USS Apollo, Observation Lounge, Nith Sahor - 08.00) Sahor watched the creatures with mild fascination curious as to the reasoning for such behaviour, the experiment had thus far proved to be successful and his presence was not required elsewhere. ::Curious is it not, you gave them everything they wanted and yet they seek to be back the way they were:: Sahor continued to listen to the creatures dicussion without turning to face Bartoxx, annoyed with himself for becoming involved in the matter before him to such an extent that he had not detected the Elders presence. ~I did not give them what they wanted; there was not sufficient time to analyse them all so I gave them what their companions thought they wanted. Perhaps I erred in my interpretation or perhaps the individuals we captured did not know their companions as well as we thought.~ he replied not turning away from the creatures as they discussed their situation. ::It was an inconsequential exercise regardless of whether you succeeded, they are tools to be used, all that is significant is determining the Resolution and you have created a reality where this species will discover it. If you had not allowed them to remember we would not have this risk:: ~There is no risk; they will not succeed in restoring themselves. As you said our actions were noticed, however no one is able to determine who took these actions, indeed they cannot. All have been manipulated as I planned, nothing can alter that now. Though, I'll admit that my only meeting with one of them didn't lend credibility to that idea. I think we may have to travel back to those coordinates, the place where it all began, in order to change dimensions. There would be less energy expenditure there, between the two realities." She'd arrived at the Observation Lounge several minutes early, and had downloaded to a PADD information concerning the members of the crew who hadn't yet been found. Suddenly, she noticed something about several of those missing, that she had not thought of before. She hadn't had time to think this through when the Captain and the other arrived, and the meeting began.
