His ribs still ached a bit after stress and the running he had had to do to get to the bridge. Wheezing softly now and then he pressed a flattened palm against his chest as his sea-blue eyes looked over the engineering station display. "Computer, level 3 diagnostic on bridge systems, sort the repairs to be made by projected time to complete against combat zone priority protocols and generate a list to be displayed at this station," Hank said before gasping in a breath and moving to kneel by one of the damaged aft monitors. Grabbing the power pin from his kit he opened up the panel for the monitor's circuitry junction with a frown at the scent of smoke behind it. The stench of burnt plastics and metals hung here and there in the air but here it seemed somewhat stronger. Frowning at the remains of an isoliner chip he pulled on it carefully only to frown even more as he noted that it wasn't interested in coming out. Slipping a PADD out of the bundle at his side he set it up on the floor next to where he was working and glanced over the information appearing on it. =/\= "Ens Longfellow to Main Engineering, keep the power reroutes on the bridge in place so I can work up here but I want at least two damage control teams working on that warp core in a coordinated effort with the Orde's, out," =/\= Hank said softly over his combadge as he grabbed his plasma torch and a pair of goggles from his engineering kit. Slipping the goggles on he started to cut through damaged areas to clear them. Hank heard the Captain talking with the Sick Bay and glanced over as Remae spoke to him as well. "Keep me informed. How bad is it," the Captain asked. "Sir, shields on the starboard side need external repairs as well as internal before they can be powered up and the rest of the generators need work as well, we used a lot of the photon torpedoes and both the launchers and the phasers took return fire as well as the area around the Flux Cannon, sir" Hank said with a slight smirk at the end. "Apparently the enemy didn't like it but didn't seem to want to take time to aim after it started to hit them, sir," Hank added with a glance to the PADD for a moment. "The area around the cloak's systems took a few hits so the EPS in that area is questionable and the feed back from all of that had rather detrimental effects on the warp drive.. especially an overload back through the starboard nacelle. There was a breach in that area and most of the engineers there were evacuated due to the level of damage but we do know that warp speed might not be possible even once the core is brought back online, sir," Hank stated. "Concentrate on the shields and the weapons, the cloak and the warp drive won't do us any good out here.", said Remae, nodding to the Engineer, "If you want to use anyone, you have permission to ask them." "Sir, yes, sir," Hank barked out before looking back to the panel as the Captain looked away. The engineer glanced over to Lono as she continued to scan with her tricorder to speed the diagnostic along. Part of him almost told her that he'd do it and she should worry about other things as to keep anyone else from doing any part of the diagnostic. It made him slightly nervous to have to rely on anyone else's work but he tapped his combadge instead. She had been the one to bring him back to the starbase and sent people to get him back in after his injury. It wasn't so much he wanted to trust her with this in as much as she'd earned it besides she was the XO. =/\= "Longfellow to Deck 4 Engineering Section, I want two repair teams out with one on the aft phaser group and one on the forward phasers but send up a set of circuitry panels for a type 3 circuitry junction, standard bridge schematics…," =/\= Hank started to say then paused at a beep and glanced up at the workstation he'd commandeered =/\= Actually send up three sets of those panels, out," =/\= he muttered before shifting back and picking up the PADD from next to where he knelt on the deck. The lights came back on to full strength as Ensign Gort, working hard at his station reported, "Impulse power is back online." =/\= Longfellow to Deck 7 Engineering, I want two teams sent up to deck 6 but leave yourselves with enough people to keep the generator on your deck running. Team one will work on repairs to the aft launchers and team two will be needed to go over the stock in the torpedo storage area. I want every torpedo we can get even if we have to build them ourselves. Report to Ops and Security on just what we have, out," Hank stated. =/\= "Er.. Engineering Section to Longfellow," =/\= said a voice filled with hesitation. Hank frowned at being interrupted since he still had instructions to give but tapped his combadge. =/\= "Here, report," =/\= he stated as he glanced over the PADD's incoming information once more. =/\= "We might have two or four extra photon torpedoes on Deck 6 that wouldn't be included in the normal storage count," =/\= said the man on the other end and Hank raised a brow as he recognized the voice. =/\= "If they are where I think they are put them into the storage area -now-," =/\= Hank groaned. =/\= "It's just that they came in with part of the order that came in for Ops and…," =/\= the man reported before Hank cut in. =/\= "Get them out of the theater now, out," =/\= Hank ordered before straightening up and checking over the PADD. =/\= "Longfellow to Main Engineering, I want what damage control teams I can get suited up in SEWGs and working inside on that starboard nacelle and maintain what we have on the warp core but anyone extra send to decks 11 and 13 for weapons repair," =/\= he finished before looking up to the display on the workstation. The image of the ship was still peppered with yellows and reds. =/\= "Longfellow to engineering department, let's put this thing back together again," =/\= he said before ending the transmission. A short while after that an engineer jogged in with a large case that he placed beside the ACEO. "Do you need help up here," the man asked and Hank shook his head. "Thank you, no, report to Deck 11 and see if they need help on the forward launchers," Hank said as he started to cut away parts of the destroyed stations and lock off the circuits and conduits behind them. Wiping the sweat from his brow Hank slipped the goggles up for a moment as he flicked the plasma torch off with a touch of his thumb. "But report to Main Engineering and have someone bring me up about four of the larger PADDs large enough to be used for wall display proposes, a few bundles of brace tubing like we use for cargo frames, and a hundred feet of ODN cable," Hank said before moving the goggles back into place and cutting once more with a glance over to the XO as she went into the Ready Room along with Pierce and Drizzt. Pierce blinked. ~I hate Romulans,~ he thought. ~They are much too predictable.~ "Aye, sir," he replied, already preparing the orders in his mind. (Reply any) (posted by Lenox) (USS Spectre: Ready Room - TAC/SC Orde - 14.20) Something came to Pierce's mind. "Sir," he said, "We do have an ace up our sleeves. One that the Commander doesn't know we have -- it was never included as part of the ship's official manifest, nor were its origins anything but highly classified. I'll start working up a capacitor for it, but if Talath wants to board this ship, we can make him regret it dearly." NRPG: The Flux Cannon, in other words. A storage capacitor would allow for a short burst. RPG: (Reply Remae) (Posted by Lenox) (USS Spectre, Ready Room MCO/CCE 'Spider' Drizzt - 14.20) "Commander Talath is known to Starfleet, he was responsible for a massacre on the USS Nimitz, where he killed a lot of the crew. why he is helping now, I don't know." Drizzt folded his arms, as the Captain continued. "Ensign Gort is repairing the message, Lt Lono, ask him to set up the message so we can view it as it is being replaced and ask the Ferengi to monitor the process. Major Drizzt and Lieutenant Orde, when we're through with the Xenolithe and this mission, Talath may think to try and take the Phase Cloaking Device from the Spectre, we can't stop the Warbird so we'll have to make do to slow him down, if he boards." "Secure the Spectre, every entrance, every exit, I want the entire ship locked down, double the Security in Engineering and other vital system, from now on, everyone works a double shift. understood?", said Remae, who looked up once more before adding, "Phasers are to be set on kill from this moment on, Xenolithe or Romulans, if they come over, I want them dead!" "Aye, sir," came the TAC/SC's response. Drizzt merely nodded. "In the meantime, we'll have to pretend we don't know or at least, pretend that we know that they know what we know until this mission is complete, we continue. we'll be running into the first planets of this system soon, they'll all need to be surveyed, have teams prepared for scouting and insertion, the call could come at anytime, any questions? "Sir," he said, "We do have an ace up our sleeves. One that the Commander doesn't know we have -- it was never included as part of the ship's official manifest, nor were its origins anything but highly classified. I'll start working up a capacitor for it, but if Talath wants to board this ship, we can make him regret it dearly." (reply: CO) Spider, with one ear on the meeting, discreetly tapped his badge and said in a low voice, "MCO to Ready Marines. Two fully armed Marines to Engineering, discreetly. Watch the cloak, and prepare for further Intel." His badge buzzed, message received. He turned back, "Between Security and the Marines, We can set up strong-points all along the ship, and keep a handful of men mobile at all times. If the Romulans are watching, however, this kind of significant shift in manpower will be noticed. If you want to field questions like that, we can set up the patrols immediately." (reply: CO, any) (posted by Trout) (USS Spectre, Holodeck 1, Ensign Rak'han- 14.40) Saurik studied the holographic layout of the Spectre carefully, then moved one of the symbols representing a marine rifleman slightly and nodded to himself - rifle squads guarded the major junctions and obvious egress points of the ship. A two squads of riflemen and a double-strength security team protected engineering, a second double-strength security team protecing the bridge. The unusal abundance of combat engineers was a bonus for the purposes that they were needed - hopefully they'd be able to assign at least one to each squad. The recon and support squads weren't so useful, though he had assigned some recon squads and several specially chosen members of security to the jefferies' tubes and ducts in the advent of a boarding. Kill-zones were clearly marked, as were viable strongholds - the most obvious of which would be heavily boobytrapped by internal transporters and marine sappers in fthe opening moments of a boarding action. In Murhek's opinion the primary objectives were defense of the cloaking device and the bridge, then came containment - followed by a methodical clean-up operation. He turned to another display, picking up a piece of replicated equipment and began tinkering, grinning as his bionic eye whirred and displayed an image. He turned off the input and picked up a phaser rifle, who's guts were open to the world - plus several unorthodox additions. He picked it up an slid on a light headpiece - ripped form a replicated Pallas system. Switching it on he smiled and ran his hand over a trackball somewhat shoddily added to the side of the gun until he could clearly focus on the tritanium target in the holodeck next door and fired the phaser. He grinned as he watched the target begin to fizzle under the phaser beam, then winced and stepped back as the end of the rifle fizzed and crackled before shattering in a burst of blue sparks. The halfbreed growled and twisted the ruined weapon into a loop, throwing at aside with the headpiece and glowering at a readout. 0.163 seconds. The same every time. He glared at the map of the spectre at the moment, then looked at the key for the symbols he'd set up. He picked up a pad and studied it, tapping his commbadge sharply, "Rak'han to Lt Orde and MCO Drizzt, can you join me in holodeck one soon as. Rak'han out." This could be...interesting, Orde knew more about firearms and the like than he did, and the marine commander should, he hoped, know his way around their weapons. "Agreed but I am not tip-toeing around the Romulans, if they ask, we'll say we are preparing drills in case we are boarded." replied the Captain. The Andorian nodded, "They can try, we will be ready, Sir." He took a deep breath, stopped and turned around, heading for the holodecks rather then the Staging Center. (USS Spectre: Holodeck 1 - Major Drizzt - 1448) The Andorian stepped through the holodeck doors, and saw that the Tactical Chief had already beat him there. "Yes?" (USS Spectre: Holodeck 1 - TAC/SC Lt. Pierce Horatio Orde - 1448) Pierce Orde stepped onto the holodeck, noting both his surroundings and the ruined rifle. ~Saurik did that? I'll start working up a capacitor for it, but if Talath wants to board this ship, we can make him regret it dearly." Remae was in the briefing, they were talking about hostilities breaking out on the Spectre and what to do about it if happened. "I know Pierce, but if we start storing power or charging something that big, everyone in range is going to notice. however, see if you can setup smaller capacitors around the entire ship all linked in on a single circuit. Maybe even talk to Ensign Longfellow, we could setup a bridge to link warp power directly to that circuit, that'll be one hell of a bang!", said Remae looking over at the Major. "Between Security and the Marines, We can set up strong-points all along the ship, and keep a handful of men mobile at all times. "Agreed but I am not tip-toeing around the Romulans, if they ask, we'll say we are preparing drills in case we are boarded." The meeting continued for a bit long and before long, Remae was back on the Bridge after diverting Lt L'Tal and his shuttle (USS Spectre, Bridge, CO, Captain Remae - 15.05) =^= L'Tal to Spectre. scans reveal the source of the distress signal is a Federation escape pod with fully functional animation chamber onboard. I've downloaded it's log and it would appear the single occupant is one Ensign Felicity Wells, formerly of the USS Nimitz. With your permission I shall salvage the pod immediately. =^= "Permission granted Lieutenant, keep us informed. Spectre out." "Captain, I'd like permission to accompany the team who will greet the Ensign.", said the Commander. "Granted, take a medical team with you and escort her to Sickbay, I'll be down there shortly. Lt L'Tal, resume your exploration pattern, helm, engage Impulse Engines, lets follow the Shuttle.", said Remae. As soon as the First Officer has left the Bridge, Remae accessed the computer and brought up Ensign Wells' record and biography. Four years was a long time since the Bajoran has been in command of the Athene, and the Ensign was his Counsellor at the time. The Ensign has been lost, they had a memorial service for her with all the trimmings and now, she was back with them! "Ensign L'Tal in moving closer into the inner part of this system.", said Ensign Walker. "Thank you Ensign, let's stay with him, the next planet should be coming up soon, I'd like a full scan and if you agree, lets launch some probes to expand our search." (Reply from Walker) "Hold your course." The Spectre, led by the Shuttle headed inwards, avoiding the increasing nightmarish obstacles that were ahead of them, at least, the naturally occurring ones. (Reply from Lono, L'Tal, Walker, Medical, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (Shuttle Legolas, CONN, Lt(JG) L'Tal - 15:04) Following the direct orders of his CO, L'Tal had temporarily abandoned his search of the surrounding system and guided the shuttle towards the distress signal the Spectre had detected. ~Interesting~ mused the Vulcan as he analysed the scans he had carried out on the source of the signal. "L'Tal to Spectre," he started "scans reveal the source of the distress signal is a Federation escape pod with fully functional animation chamber onboard. With your permission I shall salvage the pod immediately." =/\= Permission granted Lieutenant, keep us informed. Spectre out. =/\= (16:00) It had taken quite a while and some careful piloting to get the shuttle docked with the escape pod but L'Tal had managed it and he was now looking down upon it's cargo, Ensign Wells' animation chamber. With the press of a few buttons L'Tal began, he hoped, to revieve the Ensign. L'Tal watched carefully as the re-animation process ran it's course and the Ensign began to show signs of life. Before long Wells opened he eyes and whispered softly. "Do I know you?" "Highly unlikely Ensign, I do not believe we have ever served upon the same ship nor do I believe our paths would have crossed at the Starfleet Academy" replied L'Tal with the usual Vulcan knack. (Reply Wells) "Interesting" was all L'Tal would say as he helped the young Ensign out of the animation chamber and half carried her to the empty co-pilot's chair. "Rest now Ensign, I shall return us to the USS Spectre immediately." Wells soon learnt that L'Tal was a man of his word, for indeed the trip back to the Spectre was both short and uneventful. Upon final approach L'Tal contacted the Spectre. "L'Tal to Spectre requesting permission dock, please have a Medical team standing by to meet us, I believe we have a new member of the crew that requires careful attention. L'Tal out." (Reply Wells, Medical Dept, Any) (Posted by Ian Walker) (USS Spectre, Bridge, Kahila Lono, 15:05) Kahila was sitting on the Bridge in her accustomed place, beside the Captain, and heard L'Tal's communication: "L'Tal to Spectre," he started "scans reveal the source of the distress signal is a Federation escape pod with fully functional animation chamber onboard. With your permission I shall salvage the pod immediately." =/\= Permission granted Lieutenant, keep us informed. I'm sure I can help her keep busy here. She certainly has an interesting background.~ Kahila turned to the Captain and said, "Captain, I'd like permission to accompany the team who will greet the Ensign."
