Compilers Notes: Geneva Compile 18A - Street Date July 24, 2005. -=THIS COMPILE IS ONLY FOR THE USS RAVEN MISSION=- THANK YOU to everyone who posted on this sub-mission. Please remember, your characters are NPCs, which means they might be used by other players in the future or eradicated completely. If you like what you made, keep a record of him/her and you can always use them as SPCs on other stations when you qualify to have them. I do really appreciate your creativity and sense of ‘fun’ with this mission. The tweener (in between mission) is a lot of fun at the moment. -->Please shut off all auto formatting. It really makes compiling a chore. -->Please do not use colours or boldface. They all have to be removed for compiling anyway. -->Please do not indent. At least not before she had several cups of coffee. Plus, she hadn't got much sleep the night before, thanks to her roommate. She sat at her station on the bridge, drinking her third cup of coffee. She had just picked up her cup to take a sip when her console alerted her to a problem. She sat her cup down on the console and took a look. Borg! The CONN officer had already alerted the FO by then. "Bring us out of warp. Ensign Chandler, raise the shields and activate the cloaking device. Mr. Costello I want a sensor lock on the Borg Cube, and take us to Red Alert," the FO ordered. "Aye sir," Sam said already bringing the cloak online and raising the shields. Sam kept her eye on the readings coming from the Borg cube. It stopped and scanned the area. But as quickly as they had come, they left on a heading towards the star. The FO notified the captain of what had just happened. Then he turned to the bridge crew. "Conn, resume course and heading. Lt. Costello, please have your sensor readings on the Borg Cube sent to Mr. Callaghan so he can look them over in great length. Ensign Chandler, good work with the cloaking device and shields. Do they meet your Tactical standards?" he asked. "They certainly did, sir," Sam answered. Sam turned back to her console. ~That was a close one. I just hope we're that lucky the next time,~ she thought to herself. (Posted by Esther) (USS Raven-Warp and Energy Theoretical Units-SCPO Callaghan-800) Ian had just arrived in the lab and was looking things over. He was going to look over some data, and think and brainstorm some experiments to perform before the arrival of the star. He was also a little worried about the Borg being in the area. He had never seen one, nor did he want to. Suddenly his comm. badge went off. =^=Mr. Callaghan, you'll have some sensor data on a Borg Cube coming to you. Please look it over and get a report ready for the captain.=^= "Yes sir," he said tapping his commbadge, "I'll look it over and get a report out ASAP." Ian then went to the main console in the room and looked over the data coming through. "Just my luck, second day out and we see the Borg." (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Raven, Personal Quarters, CEO, Lt. (JG) Chenoll, 0802) Chenoll was peacefully sleeping, dreaming of her new room mate, and life has the chief engineer and their exciting new mission, when the sounds of a Red Alert woke her up. ~Alert of Reds? Attack! Oh no...I was supposed to go on duty 3 hours ago!~ Chenoll got up, quickly got on her uniform and ran off (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Raven, Bridge, CO, Captain Amanda Ivanovicha, 0803) Amanda walked onto the bridge after hurriedly throwing on her uniform and dragging a brush through her hair. This was not the awakening she was expecting. She looked around on the bridge and saw that the heads of stations had all moved in to occupy them, as was proper during a time of distress. She looked around the bridge and walked towards the command chair. As she did so, Armstrong vacated the chair and stepped aside. She sat down and looked around. "All stations, report!" Amanda called out both aloud and to her intercom system. (Reply Armstrong, Chandler, Alvaras, Costello, Chenoll) Amanda listened one by one to the current reports from those on the bridge and from their current locations. The mission seemed salvageable, Armstrong had done well. "Good work Mr. Armstrong, everyone. Seeing as we have no repairs to enact, lets proceed at Warp 7 to our destination Mr. Costello," stated Amanda. (Reply Armstrong, Costello) "Mr. Chandler, I'm more than a bit concerned, we shouldn't have encountered any Borg for at least two more days. You're going to have be especially vigilant. Please make sure you have form of defensive and battle plan drawn up in case we are detected next time. Hopefully we can get more technical information on the Borg ships from Mr. Chenoll. I'll expect you to report by 1200," said Amanda. (Reply Chandler) Amanda tapped her comm badge, "Ivanovicha to Engineering. I need a performance appraisal of our multiphasic shields. How efficient was the energy usage? How fast were you able to bring them up? Those sorts of things. Report back to me as soon as you have the information and prepare to make adjustments to optimize their performance. I also need any information on the Borg Cube you can give me in terms of technical abilities. Make sure Mr. Chandler is appraised of your findings, as well as Mr. Costello." (Reply Chenoll) Amanda glanced around the bridge watching people start to hurry to take care of what she asked of them. For good measure, she decided to call out, "So how's the coffee in this place anyway?" with a grin. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Raven, Bridge, FO, Lt. Commander John Armstrong, 0804) John was sitting, wondering if the captain was ever going to show up when finally she arrived. Has Starfleet rules dictated, John stood up and slid to the right of the chair. "All stations, report!" Amanda called out. "We found a Borg Cube coming up fast behind us, sir. I brought us out of warp and ordered Tactical to bring up shields and cloak. We remained hidden. They stopped and made a few scans of the area. Then the returned on the course towards the star," John said, reporting, he knew the department heads could still report on how their stations responded. Then the odd Bolian engineer reported in last. =^= Uh... yes, ma'am! Us in Engineering... did good... with the... night shift! =^= she said, sounding out of breath. John shook his head. "Good work Mr. Armstrong, everyone. Seeing as we have no repairs to enact, lets proceed at Warp 7 to our destination Mr. Costello," Amanda said to him and Costello. ~This Bolian engineer is seeming having some sort of problem, unless she got a little worried by the Borg or something.~ Then the captain contacted Chenoll again. "Ivanovicha to Engineering. Costello." =^= The shields? We used the shields? Uh, yes, I'll report on the shields and bring you report. I'll have it ready in 45 minutes. Engineering out. =^= Chenoll said. (reply Ivanovicha) John shook his head. This needed to be looked into. Has the stations were going about their work, Amanda asked of the crew "So how's the coffee in this place anyway?" John smiled slightly, "I don't drink coffee, sir. Nothing like scalding hot coca to give me a pick me up." (reply Ivanovicha, other bridge crew) Once the bridge staff's informal discussion on coffee was finished, John walked near the captain so only she could hear him. "Sir, I'm sure you noticed, Lt. Chenoll's strange reporting in today. I request permission to go down to Engineering and see if everything is okay?" (reply Ivanovicha, I'm going to assume she says yes, if not, I can revise it) "Understood. If I also may suggest, when the ship has down time, that Dr. Alvaras gives Lt. Chenoll a complete mental exam." (reply Ivanovicha) "Yes, sir," and then, John turned and walked to the turbolift. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Raven, Bridge, CO, Captain Amanda Ivanovicha, 0807) Amanda listened to the strange reply from her Bolian Chief Engineer. =^= The shields? We used the shields? Uh, yes, I'll report on the shields and bring you report. I'll have it ready in 45 minutes. Engineering out. =^= Chenoll said. Amanda shook her head and closed the channel. ~Strange.~ "Ummm... Mr. Armstrong, we have a lot of sophisticated equipment down there... and a very... unusual shielding system that we're placing our entire lives in the hands of. By extension, we're placing our lives in the hands of Mr. Chenoll... I am a bit... concerned." She could see that her First Officer shared her concerns as he stood there slowly shaking his head. To Amanda's question about the coffee, John smiled and responded, "I don't drink coffee, sir. Nothing like scalding hot coca to give me a pick me up." "Just be careful of hot beverages on the bridge, or 'scalding' hot cocoa could do more than just pick you up," Amanda replied flashing a smile. (Reply any other on bridge) Once the bridge staff's informal discussion on coffee was finished, John walked near the captain so only she could hear him. "Sir, I'm sure you noticed, Lt. Chenoll's strange reporting in today. I request permission to go down to Engineering and see if everything is okay?" Amanda considered her First Officer for a moment and slowly nodded her head, "I believe Mr. Armstrong that would be an excellent idea. In fact... I would go as far to say that if she seems incapable of dealing with our more advanced equipment, we may have to rethink who we have as chief engineer. Please report back to me after you speak to her and have a list of other qualified engineers on the ship." "Understood. If I also may suggest, when the ship has down time, that Dr. Alvaras gives Lt. Chenoll a complete mental exam," responded Armstrong. "A good idea, although I believe that Dr. Alvaras generally only deals with the physical. We don't have a psychologist onboard. Although, when we put into Geneva, I'm sure we can get a full exam done. I do believe that Dr. Alvaras should do a physical on her, including her head," said Amanda smiling. "Yes, sir," and then, John turned and walked to the turbolift. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Raven, Corridor, CEO, Lt. (JG) Chenoll, 0808) Chenoll was running when the captain contacted everybody. "All stations, report!" Chenoll waited 'til the others reported. " Uh... yes, ma'am! Us in Engineering... did good... with the... night shift! " Chenoll said, trying to make it sound like she was in Engineering all the time. Soon, she arrived. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Raven, Main Engineer, CEO, Lt. (JG) Chenoll, FO, Lt. Commander John Armstrong 0809) Chenoll just arrived, luckily (but unfortunately for the rest of the Raven crew) her Assistant Engineer hadn't been her, so no one was here to inform the captain. The computer's auto functions seemed to work good during whatever happened. Just has Chenoll had caught her breath, the bridge contacted her again. =^= Ivanovicha to Engineering. Costello. =^= she said. "The shields? We used the shields? Uh, yes, I'll report on the shields and bring you report. I'll have it ready in 45 minutes. Engineering out. " Chenoll said. Chenoll then put her elbows on the small desk in the room for her and then thought, then sat down and worked at the console. "Computer, display security sensors in Main Bridge in the last 10 minutes." Chenoll ordered. [Security access denied, specify security code and reason.] "Security code Chenoll-Delta-Fifty. I need to... um... supervise the functions of the bridge during an emergency!" Chenoll said, finally coming up with a 'good' excuse. [Be advised, the record of your access will be given to the ranking officer on the bridge. Continue?] "Yes!" She said, hoping that she could come up with another excuse before somebody contacted her from the bridge. Soon, the video started playing. It was started at 07.59 and showed FO John sitting at the captain's seat. He made some small talk with one of the crew, when suddenly a Borger Ship appeared. "NO! NOT THE BORGER!" Chenoll yelled. She failed to see Lt. Commander Armstrong behind her. "Excuse me, Lieutenant." Armstrong said, Chenoll panicked and paused the visual sensor recording of the bridge, then stood up and blocked Armstrong's view of it. "Yes, FO John?" she asked in a semi-playful voice, smiling. "Lieutenant Chenoll, is that how you address all your commanding officers?" "No, FO... uh, Lt. Commander Armstrong." "Very good, what happened in Engineering when we encountered the Borg?" "We... uh... things went fine." "What are you reviewing? That looks like a security sensor-..." "No! Its a just... the sensor from inside Engineering... I uh... forgot to see where I left..." "Step aside." Armstrong commanded her. "Uhnoooo, uhnoo, uhnoo!" She said, standing tall. "Get out of my way, now, or I will throw you in the Brig!" John said, yelling at her. Soon, the Bolian ran to the far side of Engineering, but her head in her hands and made a noise that John could only assume was the Bolian version of crying. John watched the console, and saw it was the visual sensor of the last 10 or so minutes. "Lieutenant... why are you watching this?" Chenoll didn't reply, she just kept 'crying'. John shook his head and tapped his comm badge. "Armstrong to Bridge. Captain, I believe that Lt. Chenoll wasn't at her post. She was reviewing the security sensors from the bridge, but I'd guess you already got a security warning. I recommend we throw her in the Brig for the rest of the mission and court martial her when we get back to Geneva. The Engineer's assistant is a Petty Officer named Mendez, he could run things, but the order is yours, sir." John said. He was sure the Bolian's annoying sobbing could be heard over the communication. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Raven, Bridge, CO, Captain Amanda Ivanovicha, 0827) Amanda had been on the bridge. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary now. Things were... peaceful. They had put up a heightened sensor net since their earlier encounter. "So, Mr. Chandler, what do you think of the multiphasic shield system? Do they cover these in the academy yet?" asked Amanda of the new tactical ensign. (Reply Chandler) "Yes, well... it is special. When the multiphasic shields are active, we technically aren't existing in the normal universe... but in several at once. That's why we can't be hit. In conjunction with the cloak, it renders us virtually invisible," replied Amanda, "As long as it works." (Reply Chandler) Amanda was enjoying her conversation with the Ensign, she could see the promise that Starfleet held for her. Then, Amanda's comm badge chirped and she was greeted by a very irritated Lieutenant Commander Armstrong. =^=Armstrong to Bridge. Captain, I believe that Lt. Chenoll wasn't at her post. She was reviewing the security sensors from the bridge, but I'd guess you already got a security warning. I recommend we throw her in the Brig for the rest of the mission and court martial her when we get back to Geneva. The Engineer's assistant is a Petty Officer named Mendez, he could run things, but the order is yours, sir.=^= ~Brig? What kind of a starship did Armstrong think he was on?~ "Mr. Armstrong, please present yourself and Mr. Chenoll in my Ready Room immediately. For now, place Mr. Chenoll's assistant in control of Engineering. I want to talk to both of you," replied Amanda. She could just go about reassigning people and locking them up was difficult in a starship with just 20 crew members. She would have to discuss the matter with the people involved. (Reply Rogers, Chenoll) "Mr. Costello, you have the bridge. Make sure you contact me if anything seems... strange," stated Amanda standing and walking to her Ready Room. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Raven, Main Engineering, FO, Lt. Commander John Armstrong, CEO, Lt. (JG) Chenoll, 0828) =^=Mr. Armstrong, please present yourself and Mr. Chenoll in my Ready Room immediately. For now, place Mr. Chenoll's assistant in control of Engineering. I want to talk to both of you, =^= John frowned has the captain reported. "Aye, sir, Armstrong out," John said, before turning sharply to the Bolian. "Well, I'm sure you were listening in. Just get your self up to the ready room, now! And I hope you can explain this to your assistant, who probably is just starting his sleep cycle now." Chenoll started crying even harder, the sleeves of her uniform were soaked with tears has she nodded and walked out. John shook his head and tapped his comm badge. "Armstrong to Petty Officer Mendez, come in." =^= Yes...yes, sir? = The young man said. He sounded tired, and probably had just started sleeping. "I know your off duty, but there has been an incident with Engineer Chenoll, and you need to take over for now. If Chenoll gets.... well, just come and cover for her now. Understood?" =^= Uh... yes, sir! Mendez out! =^= And the channel closed. John looked around and saw everything was pretty much being ran by computer, so John walked out (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Raven, Bridge, ATAC/ASC Ensign JG Samantha Chandler - 0829) After their encounter with the Borg, everyone was alert. The atmosphere on the bridge was very tense. Sam kept a close eye on the tactical sensors. Hopefully, they would have a little bit more warning next time. "So, Mr. Chandler, what do you think of the multiphasic shield system? Do they cover these in the academy yet?" asked the captain asked Sam. "They did cover it a little bit, but not extensively. After seeing them in action, I am glad we have them," Sam answered. “Yes, well... it is special. When the multiphasic shields are active, we technically aren't existing in the normal universe... but in several at once. That's why we can't be hit. In conjunction with the cloak, it renders us virtually invisible," replied the CO, "As long as it works." "Well I just hope that it works well if we get into any type of conflict with the Borg," she answered. (Posted By Esther) (USS Raven, Ready Room, FO, Lt. Commander John Armstrong, CEO, Lt. (JG) Chenoll, 0831) Chenoll walked in and saw the captain sitting there. Chenoll was still sobbing, but managed to stop while she walked threw the bridge. "Hello, CO Amanda... I mean Captain of Ivanovicha. I really am sorry I fell asleep last night reading about things on those little PADD's and I didn't set the computer lady to wake me up and I missed my on duty time, please don't send me to prison..." Chenoll said. (reply Ivanovicha) Just when Amanda was finished, John walked in and stood behind Chenoll. "Sorry I'm late, sir. Petty Officer Mendez should be in Engineering by now," John said, ~And finally somebody competent will be down there...~ John thought. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Raven, Ready Room, CO, Captain Amanda Ivanovicha, 0834) Amanda watched as the sobbing Bolian entered her Ready Room. She couldn't understand it. This officer came with a high recommendation from Starfleet. Amanda couldn't believe they'd send someone they put so high in regard if it wasn't warranted. "Hello, CO Amanda... I mean Captain of Ivanovicha. I really am sorry I fell asleep last night reading about things on those little PADD's and I didn't set the computer lady to wake me up and I missed my on duty time, please don't send me to prison..." Chenoll said. "Mr. Chenoll, I have no intention in throwing you in prison. The Raven doesn't even have a brig. Although, I would say for certain that Lieutenant Commander Armstrong has some excellent reasons for being both annoyed with you and concerned about your performance. When he arrives, we'll attempt to determine exactly what is going on," replied Amanda firmly. Then, John walked in and stood behind Chenoll. "Sorry I'm late, sir. Petty Officer Mendez should be in Engineering by now," John said. Amanda nodded, "You're hardly late Mr. Armstrong. You were detained by your duties, which is more than understandable. Its not the same as sleeping in when Borg are whipping around us because you stayed up late reading." Amanda was being rather pointed at this point, but she saw very little other possibilities. She was feeling annoyed herself. "Mr. Chenoll, I do not understand your conduct, nor do I understand your dereliction of duty. While I do not believe it could result in your court martial, to be honest you'd be thrown out of Starfleet before they'd convict you and give you hard time, I do believe it could result in several serious punishments. Do you have any idea what would have happened to us if the multiphasic shields wouldn't have worked, or the cloak failed when the Borg were in our vicinity?" asked Amanda, her voice starting to rise in anger. (Reply Chenoll) "First thing, how long as your universal translator not been working properly and why haven't you done something about it? FIX IT! Secondly, you're a Starfleet officer, there is no way that they would have let you through the academy with your current mode of conduct. BEHAVE IN A PROPER AND RESPECTFUL MANNER. I have worked with several Bolians in the past, your behaviour is an anomaly. Finally, I want you to have a complete physical immediately and when we arrive at Starbase Geneva, you will meet with one of the counsellors there," stated Amanda, attempting to moderate her annoyance with proper conduct. (Reply Chenoll) "Mr. Armstrong, we have no brig, and we need all hands on this mission. There just aren't enough engineers. I would propose, therefore, that Mr. Chenoll receive a grey reduction in rank to Ensign {SG} and despite rank we place her Engineer's mate technically in charge of Engineering for the duration of this mission. Maybe she can learn something from... Mendez is it? This is, of course, in addition to all the other things I have said will take place," stated Amanda firmly, "If there are further difficulties, she will be confined to her quarters for the duration of the mission." (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Raven, Ready Room, FO, Lt. Commander John Armstrong, CEO, Lt. (JG) Chenoll, 0836) "You're hardly late Mr. Armstrong. You were detained by your duties, which is more than understandable. Its not the same as sleeping in when Borg are whipping around us because you stayed up late reading." John smiled, he was sure the captain would lock Chenoll up. Chenoll let out a quiet sob. "Mr. Chenoll, I do not understand your conduct, nor do I understand your dereliction of duty. While I do not believe it could result in your court martial, to be honest you'd be thrown out of Starfleet before they'd convict you and give you hard time, I do believe it could result in several serious punishments. Do you have any idea what would have happened to us if the multiphasic shields wouldn't have worked, or the cloak failed when the Borg were in our vicinity?" Chenoll started sobbing loudly. "We woulds of been assimilated by the Borggers." "First thing, how long as your universal translator not been working properly and why haven't you done something about it? FIX IT! Secondly, you're a Starfleet officer, there is no way that they would have let you through the academy with your current mode of conduct. BEHAVE IN A PROPER AND RESPECTFUL MANNER. I have worked with several Bolians in the past, your behaviour is an anomaly. Finally, I want you to have a complete physical immediately and when we arrive at Starbase Geneva, you will meet with one of the counsellors there," Chenoll thought about it, and assumed her strange childlike dialect of the Bolian language must sound funny to the Universal Translator. "Yes... sir..." Chenoll said, trying to keep from sounding funny. "Mr. This is, of course, in addition to all the other things I have said will take place. If there are further difficulties, she will be confined to her quarters for the duration of the mission." "Very good, sir. I'll see to it that Mr. Chenoll doesn't make any more mistakes." John said. (reply Ivanovicha) With that, Chenoll got up and walked out, but Armstrong coughed firmly. Chenoll turned slowly. "Whats?" she asked. "Ensign, your rank." Chenoll frowned and took the single black pip off her collar, making her a Ensign (SG) now. She handed it to Armstrong, who put it on Amanda's desk. Chenoll then staggered out slowly, with her head hung low. (reply Ivanovicha, iyw) With that, John soon left there after. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Raven, Sickbay, CEO, Ensign (SG) Chenoll, 0844) Chenoll walked in and saw the Doctor called Alvaras sitting here. "Hellos Doctor. I am Chenoll. CO Amanda and FO John want me to have a physical." (Posted by Kevin Schram) Mission: Off to Destiny, Day 4 Stardate: 2406.12.03 (USS Raven, Bridge, CO, Captain Amanda Ivanovicha, 1108) The last day and a half had been relatively quiet. Routine checks, routine work overall. No real problems, but nothing overly exciting. Finally, Chenoll seemed to be settling in well. ~Now into the breach,~ Amanda thought grimly. "Ladies and gentlemen, we are now entering the regions thought to be inhabited by the Borg. Stations everyone. Mr. Chandler, please bring the multiphasic shields and cloaking device online. Mr. Costello, make sure power supply is sufficient for the shields and cloak. Bring us in at full impulse towards the star," stated Amanda. (Reply Chandler, Costello) Amanda tapped her comm badge, "Mr. Mendez how is the cloak and phased shielding working? Everything proper?" (Reply Mendez/Chenoll) "See that it keeps operating properly. We lose the cloak or the shield, we lose everything," replied Amanda. Again, Amanda tapped her comm badge, "Mr. Callaghan, we are approaching the event horizon. Please ensure that your preparations are done. We have to get in, get the data we need along with the contained samples and get out. You might only get a few minutes to do this. Make sure you're ready." (Reply Callaghan) With the instructions given throughout the ship, Amanda turned to Armstrong, "Well, Mr. Armstrong... it would seem that we're passing the 'Abandon All Hope, Ye Who Enter Here' sign. Time to put all that training and preparation to the test." (Reply Armstrong) Amanda then dropped her voice, "You might want to keep a special eye on Engineering. Prepare to get down there right away if you need to." (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Raven, Main Bridge, FO, Lt. Commander John Armstrong, 1109) John stood behind the captain, thinking about the Chenoll situation. Even though the captain's punishment had been dealt, that clumsy, goofy, stupid, strange Bolian down there still didn't sit well with John. The captain stood up and gave some orders to the bridge crew, then she paged engineering. "Mr. Mendez how is the cloak and phased shielding working? Everything proper?" =^= All is good here, Captain. We should have enough power to keep us cloaked for a good 36 hours straight, maybe 48 if we're lucky, =^= Mendez says (reply Ivanovicha, iyw) "See that it keeps operating properly. We lose the cloak or the shield, we lose everything," replied Amanda. Then she contacted the science officer, then turned to John. With the instructions given throughout the ship, Amanda turned to Armstrong, "Well, Mr. Armstrong... it would seem that we're passing the 'Abandon All Hope, Ye Who Enter Here' sign. Time to put all that training and preparation to the test." John chuckled... just to lighten his spirits, he didn't feel comfortable going into this mission, but he would do it to the best of his abilities. Amanda then dropped her voice, "You might want to keep a special eye on Engineering. Prepare to get down there right away if you need to." "Yes, sir. I was thinking the same thing," John said. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Raven, Bridge, ATAC/ASC Ensign JG Samantha Chandler - 1110) After the near-miss with the Borg cube, everything had been pretty much quiet for a day and a half. But Sam had a big feeling that it wouldn't last and it was just the calm before the storm. She looked up as the CO addressed the crew. "Ladies and gentlemen, we are now entering the regions thought to be inhabited by the Borg. Stations everyone. Mr. Chandler, please bring the multiphasic shields and cloaking device online. Mr. Costello, make sure power supply is sufficient for the shields and cloak. Bring us in at full impulse towards the star," the captain stated. "Aye sir," Sam said. While the captain gave commands out to the rest of the crew, Sam typed in the necessary commands into the console to bring the cloak and shields back online. "Shields and cloak online and operational, sir," Sam reported to the captain. (Reply Ivanovicha) Sam just hoped that they wouldn't be needed due to a firefight. (Posted By Esther) (USS Raven, Ready Room, CO, Captain Amanda Ivanovicha, 1322) Amanda looked at the view screen, the anomaly was... beautiful. In his horrible, destructive power, it swirled with light and darkness, instantly creating and destroying the matter around it. Compact, its gravity was intense and the Raven had to strain to keep a safe orbit around it. So far, they'd been luck, no Borg. Still, Amanda knew they weren't out of the woods yet. The multiphasic shields and cloak had been operating for 3 hours straight. "Mr. Chandler, how are the defensive systems holding up? Any problems in terms of their ability to withstand the gravity well?" asked Amanda slowly. (Reply Chandler) "Make sure that you let Mr. Costello know if you need more power and where. Its his job to keep those systems operating from this end of things," replied Amanda. (Reply Chandler) "Mr. Costello? Keep our orbit from decaying. I know it'll be tricky. Take the replicators and any other non-essential systems offline if you have to," stated Amanda. (Reply Costello) "I don't envy you Lieutenant. You have a lot to keep track of. Power to engines to keep our orbit from decaying, power to defensive systems and keeping the Warp and Energy Theoretical Units operational," Amanda said sympathetically. (Reply Costello) Amanda smiled and tapped her comm badge, "Mr. Callaghan, how is our collection proceeding? Let us know the instant you have the data you need so we can get the heck out of here. Are there any problems?" (Reply Callaghan) "Very good," replied Amanda, "Well Mr. Armstrong, I suppose I should check in with Engineering. See how the force sheer is affecting the equipment." (Reply Armstrong) Amanda nodded. "Engineering? How are you holding up down there?" Amanda waited patiently and nothing came back. No response. "ENGINEERING! This is your captain, please respond!" said Amanda raising her voice slightly, "If this is a joke, it isn't funny." Still nothing. "Mr. Armstrong, please check on them and report. This is not the time, or the place, for this kind of thing. If its our 'friend' who's causing the problem, you know what to do," said Amanda feeling more than a little annoyed. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Raven, Main Engineering, FO, Lt. Commander John Armstrong, Acting Engineer's Mate, Ensign (SG) Chenoll, Acting Chief Engineering Officer, 1329) When John ran in, he noticed a slight haze in the air. Then he saw that on the wall, a plasma conduit had exploded, and there was an open flame. John ran to the nearest console and ordered that plasma relay to be shut down. John then turned and saw Chenoll was kneeling over Mendez's body, scanning him with a medical tricorder. John walked over. "Report, Ensign." "Pablo... uh, Engineer Mendez was working... and the conduit exploded..." "Why didn't you inform us or answer the captain's hails?" "I was... scared." John shook his head and tapped his comm badge. "Armstrong to Sickbay, we have a medical emergency down here. Petty Officer Mendez has plasma burns on his neck and upper body." (reply Alvaras) When that was finished, John turned back to Chenoll. "Find out what this major loss of a plasma relay will do to the ship's operational status." Chenoll got up and walked over to the console. Has she worked, John asked her a question, "Why didn't the computer alert the bridge crew?" "I disabled the emergency sensors here, sir." Chenoll said. John shook his head. He didn't even want to ask why. Soon Chenoll had a status report. "We should be able to have full warp speed in 14 minutes. Deck 5, Section 5 threw 8 Hull has been weakened from the explosion, but we should be able to survive without repairs... right now." John nodded. "Stay here, ensign, and wait for the doctor. You'll be in charge of engineering until Mr. Mendez is better again." John then stormed out. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Raven, Bridge, FO, Lt. Commander John Armstrong, 1338) John ran into the bridge and took his place standing behind the captain. "Sir, there was an explosion in Engineering. Mr. Mendez was mildly injured. I called Dr. Alvaras and he should survive. What worries me is Chenoll. She disabled the sensors so the computer wouldn't alert the bridge to the explosion, then she tried to heal Mendez herself, and she left the open plasma fire burning while she did this. We're lucky the hole ship didn't explode. Has for the damage, the drive plasma to the warp engines is being rerouted now. A section of the hull down on Deck 5 is weakened from the initial explosion, but other than that, the ship should be able to continue our mission," John reported. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Raven, Bridge, CO, Captain Amanda Ivanovicha, 1342) Amanda listened to John's report as he returned to her. A full investigation would have to be launched, but it would have to wait until their job here was done. "Two questions Mr. Armstrong; first, is it possible to reinstate the emergency alerts and have it only possible to disable them with your or my authorization? Second, do you believe it is wise to leave Chenoll unsupervised down there?" asked Amanda blandly and straight-forwardly. (Reply Armstrong) As if on cue, an alert status began, [ALERT! Multiphasic shield failure. ALERT!] Amanda swore aloud and looked at Armstrong. "Mr. Chandler, be prepared for evasive maneuvers. I hope that science division is almost done getting what they need about this star. Even though the cloak exists, there is a chance the Borg will know we're here," stated Amanda with a rising note of concern, "Chenoll, what the hell is going on down there? We need those multiphasic shields now." (reply Chandler, Chenoll) Amanda shook her head and looked at Armstrong. Before she could say a word, the computer spoke once again, [PROXIMITY ALERT! SHIP MATCHING BORG CONFIGURATION APPROACHING.] "Mr. Chandler, be ready. Mr. Armstrong, do I even have to say anything? Costello, keep power coming to our cloak at full. Be prepared to shift when the multiphasic shields come back on line," Amanda looked around the bridge, feeling a rise of concern. She had to think, she had to figure out some way to buy time until Chenoll or Armstrong, or hopefully both, could get the multiphasic shields back online. She looked back at Costello. "Mr. Costello, I want you to cut power to everything except life support and the cloak. Lights, everything... off. The lack of an energy signature might buy some time. Be sure to shunt power to the multiphasic shields at a moment's notice. Do it as soon as we're sure Lieutenant Commander Armstrong gets to engineering!" (Reply Chandler, Armstrong, Costello) Suddenly, the bridge, the corridors, everything went black. They sat, cloaked and dead... waiting. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Raven, Bridge, FO, Lt. Commander John Armstrong, 1344) When John was finished with his report, Amanda asked few questions. "Two questions Mr. Armstrong; first, is it possible to reinstate the emergency alerts and have it only possible to disable them with your or my authorization? Second, do you believe it is wise to leave Chenoll unsupervised down there?" "Well, I think that Mr. Costello can reinstate the alert from his console, has for Chenoll being alone...." John was interrupted by the computer. [ALERT! Multiphasic shield failure. ALERT!] The captain swore then gave Armstrong a look. She then contacted engineering after giving orders to the bridge crew. "Chenoll, what the hell is going on down there? We need those multiphasic shields now." =^= Me? I uh... we need power... uh... let me... Engineering out! =^= Chenoll, said, then the communication ended. The captain shook her head and looked at John again, but any of them could say something, the computer alerted them again. [PROXIMITY ALERT! SHIP MATCHING BORG CONFIGURATION APPROACHING.] After some more orders to the bridge crew, Amanda turned to John. "Mr. Armstrong, do I even have to say anything?" John nodded his head and ran out, thinking about how many times he had entered this turbolift with the intent to go to Main Engineering every time. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Raven, Turbolift, FO, Lt. Commander John Armstrong, 1348) John was standing in the turbolift going down when the lights went out and the keypad control on the turbolift went to touch-activation only. ~Must be tight for power up on the bridge.~ John thought has the turbolift stopped. He then ran out, very annoyed now. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Raven, Main Engineering, CEO, Ensign (SG) Chenoll, FO, Lt. Commander John Armstrong, 1351) Chenoll sat sobbing in the dark. ~Mes just want to help the CO Amanda... not make hers mad at Chenoll.~ She had tried to put the multiphasic shields on the emergency power supply, but it wasn't enough, and they went off line. Then there was red alerts, and every thing went dark. Now she said near the warp core, the only light in the room, and sobbed. John walked in, and couldn't see a thing. "CHENOLL! WHERE ARE YOU? SHOW YOUR SELF! WE NEED THOSE SHIELDS!" John yelled in the dark, but got nothing. He felt his way to an emergency locker and opened it, then grabbed a Wrist Light, put it on and activated it. Using the light, he found Chenoll. "I don't know what your problem is, but we are in the open in a Borg infested area! I want you to get those shields online... NOW!" Chenoll shook her head and took off crying. John chased her to the wall, where she climbed in a Jefferies Tube. John shook his head. ~I have no time for this.~ He ran back to the master control station and worked. "Computer, can you rewire the multiphasic shields into the main power grid?" [Negative, multiphasic shields require manual reactivation.] John shook his head and took off and climbed into the Jefferies Tube. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Raven, Jefferies Tube, FO, Lt. Commander John Armstrong, 1353) John climbed to an access panel and took it off, showing a full panel of wires and chips. He started pulling them and putting them back in. "Computer, can we plug in the multiphasic shields yet?" [Negative.] John put his head down, he wasn't an engineer, this would never work in time. ~Maybe if I contacted Sickbay, the doc could wake up Mendez and...~ John was interrupted by a blue hand coming over his shoulder. "Yous gotta take that one out..." John looked to see Chenoll, behind him, pointing to the correct circuits. "Ensign, what is wrong with you?" "Please, FO John, you gotta hurries! Borggers are out there!" Chenoll shouted. So, following Chenoll's instructions, John plugged the correct pieces back together. "Computer, plug in the shields!" John shouted. [Shields online, however, there is not enough power to support them.] John tapped his comm badge. "Armstrong to Bridge, captain, the shields are good to go. Tell Mr. Costello to give them some power and we should have them back!" (reply Ivanovicha) "Has for Chenoll, sir, she saved the ship. With out her will still wouldn't have the shields. I'm on my way back to the bridge." (reply Ivanovicha) (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Raven, Bridge, CO, Captain Amanda Ivanovicha, 1355) Amanda watched as a Borg cube careened too and fro looking for them. It knew they were there, and it was just a matter of time before it found them. "Mr. Chandler, prepare to bring weapons on line, get your targeting subsystems up and be ready," stated Amanda watching the cube close in on them. Suddenly, a message came through from Armstrong in Engineering. (Reply Chandler) =^=Armstrong to Bridge, captain, the shields are good to go. Tell Mr. Costello to give them some power and we should have them back!=^= Amanda let go a sigh of relief, "Understood! Costello, get power into those shields." Amanda watched as the cube paused for a second and then warped away. =^=As for Chenoll, sir, she saved the ship. Without her will still wouldn't have the shields. I'm on my way back to the bridge.=^= "Excellent! We have what we came for. Lets get out of here. Keep the shields and the cloak up. Warp nine out of her! Once we're clear of the area warp 7 to Starbase Geneva," (Reply Costello) Amanda felt the small craft shudder and then jump to warp. She knew they were about a month away but that would give them time to analyse their data and perform other scientific tests, much less hazardous, along the way. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) Mission: Off to Destiny, Day 36 Stardate: 2407.01.04 (USS Raven, Bridge, CO, Captain Amanda Ivanovicha, 1004) Amanda looked at the view screen and yawned. Over a month in deep space exploring and gathering scientific data. She was greatly looking forward to shore leave on Geneva. She felt very out of the loop having not encountered any other Starfleet personnel or received transmissions in a long time. Amanda glanced over at Ensign Chandler. This was both the beginning and the end for her. Her service aboard the Raven was about to end, but it was about to begin on Geneva. This station was an important post, one that definitely had some odd adventures in the past. But then, every ship and station had her story. She looked at the sprawling image of Starbase Geneva filling her view screen. "Mr. Costello, open a channel," she requested. (Reply Geneva) "Starbase Geneva, this is Captain Amanda Ivanovicha of the USS Raven, requesting permission to dock for repairs and shore leave," stated Amanda blandly. These sorts of things always were quick and painless. =^=Greetings Captain Ivanovicha, you are requested to drop any shielding, power down any weapons and submit to a level 3 scan. So far, you are classified as neutral, is that correct?=^= Amanda glanced at Armstrong quizzically, "Level 3 scan? Isn't that a bit intense for security? Neutral? What are you talking about? We've been a month in deep space, I have no idea what you're talking about." =^=My apologies Captain Ivanovicha, Admiral Doenitz has seized control of the Federation and declared himself president. There is fighting currently going on, on Tellar as the rest of the worlds of the Federation reject his claim. Starfleet has split down the middle, we are at Civil War. You have arrived at the key base of the resistance against Doenitz.=^= Amanda swallowed hard and made the signal to cut audio. "Well, Mr. Armstrong, it seems we're going to have some choices to make, as is everyone. For now, the moniker of neutral seems apt though. Hopefully, we can figure out what's going on before we get underway." (Reply Armstrong) "So its seems Mr. Chandler, your new duty station is going to be interesting. I hope things work out for you," stated Amanda. (reply Chandler) "Restore audio. Well, I suppose neutral fits us well then, we have no idea what's going on. I look forward to an update when we dock," said Amanda to the Bajoran Lieutenant on the view screen. =^=No problem. Your ship checks out. I will send your helmsman docking procedures and coordinates. We'll guide you into the proper bay with tractor beams. Have as pleasant a stay as you can under the circumstances. Geneva out.=^= Suddenly, Amanda wondered what Chandler and Callaghan were being delivered into. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) [END COMPILE]
