Cambridge to Remae, we are about to bring the combatant onboard...=^= "We are free for Transport" the Major responded. A few moments later, the Captains voice came over the comm. =^=Spectre to Lt Orde, second away team is beaming over now, I want all of you out of there in 20 minutes, understood=^= (reply: Orde) "Major, this ship is alive, and I need to talk to both Security and the Marines after we get back." Drizzt looked at the TAc/SC for a moment, then nodded once sharply. "Alright, we have twenty minutes." he said as the second away team beamed over. "Team 1, you three beam back. Myself and the Lt will be staying behind for a few." The Marines that had just been in battle nodded, then beamed away. He turned to the newcomers, "Scan this thing entire. It's alive, according to the Tactical chief, but it wont be for long at this rate." ~If it could be called alive after being a transport for that beast..~ "Get cracking!" he said sharply. (reply: any) (posted by Trout) (Nageri Scout Ship: Aft Section - TAC/SC Pierce Orde - 1256) A few moments later, the Captain's voice came over the comm. =/\=Spectre to Lt Orde, second away team is beaming over now, I want all of you out of there in 20 minutes, understood=/\= Pierce tapped his commbadge. "Understood, sir. Perhaps we can take this small ship aboard -- it would facilitate learning about this while we move on," he said. Watching the major issue his orders to his men, he checked his own weapon absentmindedly. ::Pierce, I'm so glad you're all right,:: he heard in his mind. ~Thanks,~ he replied mentally as he observed the FO and ACMO go about what they were doing. For a lack of anything better to do, he dug around in his equipment belt and changed rounds to an acid cartridge that would surely do harm to anything that saw fit to attack him. "Major, I've given orders to deploy this rifle design -- the Type III-P, or the Pha/Pro for short." (Reply Drizzt, any) (Posted by Lenox) (USS Spectre, Transporter Room, Kahila Lono, 12:58) Kahila, with Jon Walker, arrived at the transporter room, just in time to see the flickering glow that meant the Marines, and Pierce, had just beamed onto the Nageri scout ship. Kahila felt a cold chill of anxiety rush through her body. ~I'd hoped to have a moment to mind-send good wishes to Pierce before he left for battle. But perhaps it's best after all, not to distract him.~ Her Comm signal activated, and Captain Remae said, =^= Bridge to Lono. Standby for transport on my signal.=^= "Will do, Captain." She replied. As Kahila positioned herself on the transport pad, Rain Anderson hurried into the room. From the woman's expression, Kahila needed no exertion of her empathy sense to realize Rain's feeling about being there. Kahila nodded to Rain as she came onto the pad, then said, "Captain Remae asked for you to use your medical and biological expertise in examining the Nageri ship, as it is a living creature. Or was. It died moments ago, from the Spectre's torpedo. (reply Rain) Then at the Captain's signal, Kahila watched her surroundings flicker away. (Nageri ship, Kahila Lono, 13:10) Kahila's first impression of the ship was to remain with her for a very long time. She was instantly overwhelmed with a sense of tragic beauty, of being amid one of the wonders of the universe-- which had been painfully, horribly desecrated. She had to blink tears from her eyes, and force her emotions to stillness, letting them slide beneath her intellect and sense of duty. Then her glance quickly scanned her surroundings. Pierce! Her breathing eased, seeing him there, unharmed, with the contingent of Marines still in place. ~Pierce, I'm so glad you're all right,~ she mindsent. Then she turned to Rain and the CSO. "We need to get as much information, as quickly as possible," she said. Taking out her tricorder, she moved to the ship's control panel, and began to scan. ~The integration of technology and biology is amazing. I wonder how much the original creature was changed by the Xenolithe. I'd certainly like to see one of the Nageri in its natural state! Perhaps I will, before we leave this area of space.~ Her fingers lightly touched the substance of the panels and walls. It felt like nothing she'd ever touched before. ~Smooth, but pliant, similar to plastic, but resilient. There's no way to know, right now, how it communicated with its pilot. How could any sentient being not appreciate this creature?~ (reply Rain, Walker, Pierce, any) posted by Josephine Goodman <> (USS Spectre, Secure Medical Bay- CMO Cambridge - 12.58) "Damn that thing is ugly." Cambridge nodded as the security teams flanked the entire room, weapons drawn and standing at alert. The medical officers were all armed, but had slowly moved behind the security, knowing full well there was more chance of them living to see another day if they took that course of action. Maxwell turned slightly to face the beast, in his contained shelter. It was ugly, that was for sure. And it didn't inspire much courage in the veteran doctor either. He had pulled up the history of this creatures and was looking at the file now. They were much like the Klingons, with multiple organs to fallback on and terrifying battle skills that would shake anybody in a red security shirt. Claws that had ripped themselves through the BDU's of the marines that had captured it and a unstoppable rage for spilling blood from anyone who was within walking distance. That included Maxwell Alexander Cambridge, Chief Medical Officer. He stood nearest the second barrier, looking into the cage. He know knew why Rain hadn't been forthcoming on details about her home or her experience with the evil he now stared down. If he was any closer, he would be ready to drop dead himself. But he was a doctor, a officer of Starfleet and ordered to replace fear with scalpel, terror with tricorder and anger with healing. It was his duty. It was his life. "Computer, begin scan of specimen, report results as found..." The computer whirred and the body stirred in the room ahead of the men and woman, all whom were now staring it down themselves. "So you are alive, ugly one..." 'Mac' checked the results on his PADD. The initial reports were true. Multiple organs and one helluva bone and skeletal structure combined with weapons from the hand made whatever they were looking at pure evil. There was no good bone in the thing ahead. Suddenly, it sprang up, one hand left to use. The nails snapped out and horrifying scream echoed through the room as the Xenolithe began to attack the first wall of defense. The material began to scratch, making Cambridge raise his eyebrows. The pounding against the material began next and it began to crack, a fracture forming, slowly expanding. The medical officers began to move farther back as the security officers took much more notice of their new friend than they had before. Sparks flew from the impact of the raging creatures hands is it continued to pound its way to breaking the wall into nothing. "Security, ready arms...engage defensive posture...NOW!" He shouted it, now knowing there was no way this creature was going to live. The computer had give the thing one hour to live, if that. Cambridge sighed to himself. He hated destroying those under his care, even maniacal and homicidal creatures bent on destroying the world. He calmly went over to the console, focusing his attention directly at the still very upset Xenolithe. Maxwell started to talk to himself, but the reality was he was talking to the evil he was staring down. "We could have made this work, but no. You had to come and start to shatter my secure medical bay. You had to scream, scare all these ladies..." He stopped tapping the console for a second and faced it down full force. "You just don't do that here. I'm in charge. Got it?" A scream was all he received in reply and once more Cambridge put his hands to the console as the first wall began to shatter open. He tapped a few more buttons as the medical officers began to voice their concerns and scream as the first wall came down completely. The very angry animal jumped for the second wall, but was cut down suddenly by five high bursts of intense and bright phaser fire, sending him flying back into his original cell. The five beams were quickly joined by three more as they sugercily ended the life of the Xenolithe as it screamed, trying to get up against the power of the weapons directed at it. A moment later, it was over. The computer had been tracking the several heartbeats and a final scan revealed it was over. The Chief Medical Officer pulled a full body containment suit, not much unlike the BDU's worn by the marines. In moments, it was activated and powered. He turned to Rak'han and smiled widely. "It's ugly Ensign, but damn if it doesn't make for an interesting autopsy...Ensign(jg) Saurik Rak'han, if that thing moves, activate the mobile high powered phaser banks from that console over there. If that fails, activate the mobile torpedo launchers and go for broke. Now, if you don't mind, I've got to take apart our worst enemy." He quickly tapped into his arm and vanished in a beam and reappeared not fifteen feet from the creature. Another tap of the arm and the first wall began to slowly repair itself with the transporter at work. Maxwell stared down at the dead creature. What a mess. "Cambridge to Remae. Thing's dead sir. Decided to try and break through my new place. Starting the inspection now on Deck 4 in the secure medical bay. I'll have the deck open in a second here." Maxwell tapped another button his arm. "Computer, clear all restrictions on deck 4. Disengage alert mode for secure medical bay 1." With that, the good doctor turned his attention back to the pile of creature in front of him. He grinned like a mad scientist, moving forward with his scanner, scalpel and tools. "Hello, ugly." "Thank you Ensign. engage the beam and move us, gently, away.", said Remae, waiting to heard the news from the now dead Nageri ship. =^= Drizzt to Spectre, Xenolithe is subdued and bleeding badly. "Spectre to Lt Orde, second away team is beaming over now, I want all of you out of there in 20 minutes, understood?", said Remae, mindful of other Xenolithe in the area, "Get me Starfleet Command, in the Ready Room." Captain Remae out." "Computer, send that message and attach the logs of the past 12 hours." << Message sent at 13.15 >> Standing up from his desk, Remae returned to the Bridge to await the return of the Away Teams and their reports, he didn't even know if HQ would get his message but the Xenolithe were here, how many and how bad it was, he still had to find out about. (Reply from Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre, Personal Quarters, Ensign(jg) Hank Longfellow - 12:60) "Checking info coming in from the fields in the area of Secure Medical Bay One," called out a voice from somewhere behind Hank. The engineer glanced over his shoulder to the crewman as he made some slight adjustments. "Er.. according to the data we have on the specs for this thing we don't really need a repair crew in there if something goes wrong," he added. Turning around fully from the display board, Hank walked over to the crewman's station and looked at the information coming in. "They made it so that the transporters can put it back together," Hank muttered grimly. "Better that then one of us in there," the crewman pointed out and Hank nodded even without agreeing really. "Wow… two really thick walls and check out what they made them from," the man added as he moved out of the way and Hank stepped in closer to look at the details. Hank almost froze in place as his eyes caught sight of something. "That bay has mobile phaser banks and torpedo launchers," Longfellow questioned as he looked over the information once more then double checked it. "Tell the engineering groups in the area to suit up in the SEWGs and prep for potential hull breaches," Hank muttered as he shook his head. "I'm sure they've reinforced that area," the crewman said as he tapped at the specs for one of the walls. "I mean this one is eight feet thick and the other's five," he pointed out. "Torpedoes," Hank said simply as he turned to look at the crewman. "Smaller ones I'm sure," the man suggested. "Small torpedoes," Hank said flatly as he continued to stare at the man as if waiting for the right answer. "The teams are prepped now," someone else called over. "It probably wouldn't be that bad.. I mean it would have to go through both walls," the man said with a shrug. "I doubt anything is going to do that and I don't think they have EPS conduits in them so no plasma would get dumped," he added. With a small beep Hank moved the information out of his way on the workstation and looked to a diagram with a red area highlighted. "That's the first wall dropping," Hank muttered as he looked over to the crewman who smiled weakly back to him with a slight shrug. "The torpedoes didn't do it though," the crewman offered as a warning went off in Main Engineering. "Weapons fire warning," Hank said as he looked to the diagram with a frown. "Is it ours," he asked as he turned around and leaned against the wall. "Affirmative, phasers only," someone said, Hank closed his eyes and rubbed his face tiredly. "Someone in medical just started up the transporter repair for the wall that went down," one of the other engineers reported and Hank shook his head and stood up straight once more. "Keep repair teams working on the force field generators," Hank said with a glance over to the warp core for a moment. He studied it in silence as the hum off it pulsed like a heart beat through the ship. It was a sound that he normally found comforting. "Computer is clearing restrictions on Deck 4 and the CMO has just disengaged the alert mode," someone reported and Hank glanced over to the woman. "Radiation sweeps on the effected areas are completing now but there are reports of it having some effect on a few of the seals for the outer hatches, but they're all showing within tolerances," stated the Vulcan engineer from her workstation as Hank nodded. "I shall have them report to Sick Bay once the teams are done for a simple scan but none of their indicators have even altered, the suits will be recycled with proper hazardous material protocols," she added. "They'll probably want sensors back to higher priority soon, remember to watch both the shields and the transporters right now. Especially the transporters," Hank said with a frown. "There's an away team still out there somewhere," he muttered as he slowly walked back to the main display and looked over the large board. "Somebody check in through Ops to see if flight control wants us to check over the shuttles or the Runabout and keep something on standby just incase something comes up with the transporters," Hank stated as his eyes looked over the display before him and noted only one patch of red. (reply any ) (Posted by Mark) (Nageri ship, Jon Walker, 13:10) Jon slowly walked around the room that they had transported into..Jon held his tricorder up and started scanning the Nageri vessel. The use of machine and living organism was incredible. Jon walked up to one of the walls that seemed to be more living than machine and reached into his science carry on and pulled out a small device used too take organic samples. Jon took a one sample from the wall that consisted of mainly tissue than another sample of the intregrated tissue and machine. Jon had a feeling that the Xenolithe used some sort of nano technology to control the Nageri ships. Jon continued to scan the surrounding area. Jon came upon what seemed to be a sort of computer interface. It seemed to be powered by the Nagari's actual being which meant that with the ship dead very little power remained to activate the console. Jon attached a portable power cell to the console then turned to Kahila. "Lt.Lono I have found what seems to be a console that the Xenolithe installed in this vessel. I am downloading all relevent information" (reply Lono,Anderson) (Posted J.Meidl) (Nageri ship, Kahila Lono, 13:12) "Lt.Lono I have found what seems to be a console that the Xenolithe installed in this vessel. I am downloading all relevant information" the science officer reported. Kahila ran her fingers across the organic substance of the wall, where it joined the console. "I think you're right about the Xenolithe installing this. It looks as though the edges of the metal have eaten into the flesh. I believe the ships themselves would have developed a noninvasive way of integrating a communications system. Good work, Ensign Walker. Continue." Kahila turned then, as Rain said: . "I'm getting lots of biological data but would need to venture further from this room to find out more about organs and systems and cause of death. Do I have your permission to investigate further?" Kahila smiled. ~It's good to see Rain so enthusiastic.~ "Yes, that's a good idea. In fact, I'll accompany you. I think it best if no one ventures out of the room alone. Besides, I'm curious too." Kahila took a wrist beacon from her belt pack, and turned it on; then they walked through a narrow corridor. "Oh -- these look like assimilative organs." Kahila walked nearer the wall. "There are veins, or arteries, moving in here from all directions." Then she hurried to the back of the chamber. "Rain, this might be the equivalent of a drive system. I'd certainly like to discover how the ships manuever." "There are veins, or arteries, moving in here from all directions." Then she hurried to the back of the chamber. "Rain, this might be the equivalent of a drive system. I'd certainly like to discover how the ships manoeuvre." "That information certainly isn't contained in our database. No-one has gotten close enough to determine that. It seems that our xenolithe thought nothing of running a claw or two along a vessel to get what he wanted." She said looking sadly at the deep gashes running along the walls. "I'll try and get as many readings from here as we go along. It seems though that this area is rich in mitochondria and we can conclude that vast amounts of energy are produced here. I'm not sure how it is used for propulsion and manoeuvring. The science guy... whatshisname might have an idea." "Lt L'Tal, take a shuttle and take that Nageri corpse somewhere where it won't be discovered.", said Remae examining the scans of the nearby phenomenon. "There is a nearby nebula, we just avoided it due to high radiation, it should be enough to hide the ship from scans and eventually, it'll dissolve the ship. Launch at 13.30, as soon as the teams are secure, we'll come and get you.", he said, ordering the Flight Officer on his little mission. Best wishes, we’ll see you shortly. =/\= L'Tal gently lifted the shuttle off the shuttle bay floor and glided it out gently into space. Once clear of the Spectre, L'Tal took a hard turn to starboard and aimed the shuttle at the dead Nageri. Once he had received confirmation that all crew had returned safely to the Spectre he engaged the shuttle’s tractor beam and moved the Nageri towards its final doom. L'Tal built the shuttle’s speed up to full impulse and after a few minutes he disengaged the tractor beam, turned the shuttle away from the nebula, and watched as the Nageri was ‘flung’ deep inside it’s radioactive grave. “L'Tal to Spectre,” began the CONN Officer “mission…” L'Tal was cut short as phaser fire rocked the small shuttle. Without thinking he raised the shuttle’s shields and began evasive manoeuvres. =/\= L'Tal! Get back here now! =/\= came the Captain’s voice over the comm system. He waited a few more seconds, "Battle Alert, Forward shields to maximum and all weapons to ready!" He spun in the seat to face forward, and flipped the armrests of his chair over his legs, so he wouldn't be thrown out. "Move to engage, course 156 mark 10. Full impulse, battle speed!" Several shots fired in rapid succession against the first bioship, causing it to bank hard over. "Shields at 90% Commander." "Powerful buggers," the Romulan muttered, "No prisoners, destroy them. Taking his eyes off the conn for a moment, the Bajoran Captain turned in his seat, his expression an exasperated mix of frustration and incredulous humour. "Great. Store it for now." The Captain turned back to instruct the shuttle to prepare an escape course, and news filtered across the bridge that their attempts to hail the Romulan vessel had gone unanswered. ~Typic.. Hang on!~ "Captain, the Romulans are now hailing us! We're being instructed to fall back." The Ops Officer returned his console and sent a standard acknoledgement of the Romulan instruction before noticing something else changing on his console.
