What Happens After You Join

Here's your journey from application to first mission post:

Apply (5-10 minutes)

Fill out the simple application form. Choose your character name, species, and department. No essays required—you can refine details later.

Approval (Usually 1-2 days)

The Admiral of the Academy reviews your application quickly. Most applications are reviewed within 1-2 days. We'll help refine your character concept if needed.

Pick Your Ship & Get Started

Based on your preferences, we'll assign you to a ship that matches your interests. You'll receive your ship assignment, an intro post template, and meet your CO or mentor who will guide you through your first mission.

The entire process is designed to be fast and friendly. New to PBeM? We offer optional Academy training. Experienced writers can skip straight to a ship assignment.

Write when you have time. Most members post 1-3 times per week, but there's no strict schedule. Casual posting is perfectly fine—quality over quantity.

Q: I've never done PBeM before. Is that okay?

Absolutely! We offer optional Academy training to help you learn the basics. Our community is beginner-friendly, and experienced writers can skip straight to a ship assignment.

Q: What if I need to take a break?

Life happens. We encourage LOAs (Leave of Absence). Just let your crew know, and your character will be waiting when you return. No judgment, no questions asked.

Q: Do I need to be a Star Trek expert?

Not at all! While familiarity with Star Trek helps, it's not required. Our community is helpful and welcoming to players of all experience levels.

If you have concerns or encounter issues, talk to your Commanding Officer (CO) or Executive Officer (XO) first. For serious matters, contact the Admiral of the Academy or Fleet Command. We take all concerns seriously and handle them with discretion and fairness.
