Taleni Grun was a security officer on the USS Soval during the mission on Anohesia. He was one of the rare who was immune to the epidemic. With his three superiors in security dying or falling sick during the mission, he become suddenly in charge of security on the ship.
Following the merging of the USS Soval and USS Starfire, he was disappointed to learn Lieutenant Commander Sanok was taking over security in his stead on the USS Soval. However, once more, with Sanok being recalled to Starbase 989, he once more became active security chief. However, for a second time in a row, a new security chief was requested and took over.
