Ship Classes & Fleet Assets

Star Trek: Freedom features a diverse array of starship classes and starbases, each designed for specific roles within the 52nd Fleet. This overview provides information about the major ship classes and fleet assets used throughout the game's history.

Starship Classes

Spectre Class

The Spectre class is an exploratory class of ship developed in 2397. Construction began at Earth Station McKinley. The Spectre class uses a variant of the phasing cloak technology originally used on the USS Pegasus, allowing for advanced stealth capabilities.

Notable ships of this class include USS Spectre and USS Vampire, both of which completed construction in 2400 and were assigned to Starbase 968. The Spectre class played important roles during the Federation Civil War.

For more detailed information, see the STF Wiki Spectre Class page.

Odyssey Class

The Odyssey class is one of the largest starship classes in Starfleet, with ships measuring approximately one kilometer in length. These massive vessels are capable of extended missions and serve as flagships for fleet operations.

The USS Republic, an Odyssey-class starship, was assigned to Admiral Remae Ktell in 2444 and serves as his flagship. The ship had been parked at the Mars shipyards before being reactivated as part of the rebuilding effort.

For more detailed information, see the STF Wiki Odyssey Class page.

Sovereign Class

The Sovereign class represents one of Starfleet's most advanced starship designs, combining powerful weapons systems with advanced exploration capabilities. These ships are designed for both exploration and defense missions.

Notable Sovereign-class ships include the USS Paladin, which appeared through an unstable wormhole from an alternate universe in 2405.

For more detailed information, see the STF Wiki Sovereign Class page.

Titan Class

The Titan class of starships faced maneuvering problems that were partially resolved in 2401. These ships serve various roles within the fleet, including exploration and tactical operations.

The USS Titan played a role in defending Bajor after the Dominion was sent back through the wormhole, staying in orbit in case of a new offensive.

For more detailed information, see the STF Wiki Titan Class page.

Meredith Class

The Meredith class is used for research and scientific missions. The Cochrane Research Facility was later transferred to a Meredith Class Starship, which was renamed USS Cochrane.

For more detailed information, see the STF Wiki Meredith Class page.

Nova Class

The Nova class consists of smaller, science-focused starships designed for research and exploration missions. These ships are well-suited for detailed scientific surveys and first contact scenarios.

The USS Mithrandir-A is a Nova-class vessel that replaced the USS Dennison after it was mothballed.

For more detailed information, see the STF Wiki Nova Class page.

Starbases

Starbase Freedom

Starbase Freedom is a unique starbase constructed from components provided by Trill, Andor, and the Federation. It was built in orbit of Trill and serves as a diplomatic meeting place. This is the first new starbase constructed by the Federation since the contraction period.

For more detailed information, see the Starbase Freedom page and the STF Wiki Starbase Freedom page.

Starbase Geneva

Starbase Geneva was completed and commissioned in 2405, serving as the headquarters for the 52nd Fleet. The station was located at a terminus of the Subspace River in the Beta Quadrant. Station Geneva was abandoned and destroyed when Starbase Geneva was completed.

For more detailed information, see the STF Wiki Starbase Geneva page.

Starbase Valhalla

Starbase Valhalla was located in orbit with Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards at Mars. During the Federation Civil War, the USS Boudicca breached the defenses of Starbase Valhalla, bringing down the defense stations and contributing to the 52nd Fleet's victory.

For more detailed information, see the STF Wiki Starbase Valhalla page.

Other Vessel Types

Runabouts

Runabouts are small, versatile vessels used for short-range missions, transport, and support operations. Two older runabout-class shuttles were assigned to the Mars surface facilities in 2444.

Fighter Squadrons

The Mars Defence Perimeter maintains launch bays for various fighter squadrons, which form part of the Mars Defence Perimeter's defensive capabilities.
