Community Guidelines

These guidelines help create a positive, respectful, and enjoyable experience for all members of Star Trek: Freedom.

Our Community Values

  • Respect: Treat all members with respect and courtesy, regardless of differences
  • Collaboration: Work together to create engaging stories and experiences
  • Inclusivity: Welcome members from all backgrounds and experience levels
  • Creativity: Encourage creative expression and storytelling
  • Fun: Remember that this is a game meant to be enjoyable

Expected Behavior

Be Respectful

  • Use respectful language and tone in all communications
  • Respect others' opinions, even when you disagree
  • Avoid personal attacks, insults, or inflammatory comments
  • Be patient with new members and help them learn

Be Collaborative

  • Work with other players to create engaging stories
  • Share the spotlight and give others opportunities to participate
  • Communicate clearly about your character's actions and intentions
  • Respect other players' character development and storylines

Be Constructive

  • Provide helpful feedback when asked
  • Focus on improving the game experience for everyone
  • Report issues through proper channels rather than public complaints
  • Contribute positively to discussions and game activities

Prohibited Behavior

Harassment and Bullying

  • No harassment, bullying, or targeted attacks on other members
  • No discrimination based on race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or other protected characteristics
  • No stalking, doxxing, or sharing private information without consent
  • No threats of violence or harm

Inappropriate Content

  • No explicit sexual content, graphic violence, or other inappropriate material
  • No illegal content or content that promotes illegal activities
  • No spam, advertising, or unsolicited commercial messages
  • No content that violates copyright or intellectual property rights

Disruptive Behavior

  • No trolling, flame wars, or intentionally disruptive behavior
  • No impersonation of other members or administrators
  • No attempts to hack, exploit, or damage the site or its systems
  • No use of automated tools to spam or harvest data

Gameplay Guidelines

Character Creation and Development

  • Create characters that fit within the Star Trek universe and game setting
  • Respect established canon and game lore
  • Develop your character over time rather than creating "perfect" characters
  • Work with administrators and other players to ensure character consistency

Posting and Participation

  • Post regularly to maintain active participation (frequency expectations vary by ship/assignment)
  • Write posts that advance the story and engage with other characters
  • Respect other players' posts and storylines
  • Communicate out-of-character (OOC) when necessary to coordinate

Conflict Resolution

  • Resolve conflicts through in-character roleplay when possible
  • Use out-of-character communication to clarify misunderstandings
  • Contact administrators if conflicts cannot be resolved amicably
  • Respect administrative decisions regarding conflicts

Enforcement

Violations of these guidelines may result in:

  • Warning: First-time or minor violations may result in a warning
  • Content Removal: Inappropriate content may be removed
  • Temporary Suspension: Serious violations may result in temporary account suspension
  • Permanent Ban: Repeated violations or severe offenses may result in permanent account termination

Administrators have discretion in determining appropriate consequences based on the severity and context of violations.

Reporting Violations

If you witness violations of these guidelines:

  • Report through Report Issue
  • Provide specific details about the violation (who, what, when, where)
  • Include screenshots or other evidence if available
  • Avoid public confrontations or "calling out" other members

Reports are reviewed by administrators, and appropriate action will be taken.

Appeals

If you believe you have been unfairly penalized:

  • Contact administrators through Report Issue
  • Provide context and your perspective on the situation
  • Be respectful and open to discussion
  • Understand that administrative decisions are final, but appeals will be considered
